The Frightful Left

From my Sept 10th, 2010 blog: The 4th Precept

We all should be familiar with Orwell’s 3 main Thought control precepts as put forward in in his book, 1984.

If you have never read it. Do so. Immediately.

It can change your life. I know it did mine.

But those precepts used by the Ministry of Truth were:

“”War is Peace”

“Freedom is Slavery”

“Ignorance is Strength”

And I think the Democrats and especially Obama have come up with a new one.

FEAR IS HOPE

Because they are constantly talking about hope. But all they do is spread fear.

So Fear must therefore be Hope.

“He who controls the present, controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future.”-Orwell.

And since the liberals view of the past decade is one of total evil and you should fear that evil coming back, and you should have hope for a brighter, more vibrant America than letting that evil back in, Fear is Hope.

“During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act”-Orwell

And there can’t be more deceit going on now than in recent memory.

“It’s still fear versus hope; the past versus the future,” Obama said from Cleveland, Ohio Sept 8th 2010, “It’s still a choice between sliding backward and moving forward.  That’s what this election is about.  That’s the choice you’ll face in November.”

“There were no new ideas.  There was just the same philosophy we already tried for the last decade – the same philosophy that led to this mess in the first place.”

Sound familiar?

NOW: “The Republican plan says that what’s been standing in the way between us and full employment are laws that keep companies from polluting as much as they want,” Obama said in a speech at the regional airport in Asheville, N.C., on Monday. “On the other hand, our plan [Obama’s plan] puts teachers, construction workers, firefighters and police officers back on the job.” (you non-union type- 88% of the populace, especially can go f*ck yourself)

“My plan says we’re going to put teachers back in the classroom, construction workers back to work rebuilding America, rebuilding our schools, tax cuts for small businesses, tax cuts for hiring veterans, tax cuts if you give your worker a raise,” said Obama. “That’s my plan. Then you’ve got their plan, which is, let’s have dirtier air, dirtier water, less people with health insurance. So far at least, I feel better about my plan.”

VP Biden in his infinite capacity for sageness said that if you don’t pass the Jobs Bill (that the Senate Democrats have voted down twice by the way) you’ll increase rapes and murders!

“Do you regret using the rape reference to describe Senate opposition” to the bill, Jason Mattera asked Biden as he left a rally with police unions and others who have faced the budget ax in recent months.

“I didn’t use … no, no, no,” Biden responded. “Let’s get it straight, guy. Don’t screw around with me. Let’s get it straight.”

“You didn’t use a rape reference,” said Mattera, of the conservative news organization Human Events.
“No, let me explain,” Biden said, pointing toward Mattera. “I said rape was up three times in Flint. Those are the numbers. Go look at the numbers. Murder is up; rape is up; burglary is up. That’s what I said.”

“And if the Republicans don’t pass this bill, then rape will continue to rise?” the reporter asked.
“Murder will continue to rise; rape will continue to rise; all crime will continue to rise,” Biden said.
Asked by Mattera whether it was appropriate to use such language, Biden scoffed and walked away (actually you can hear one of his handlers say “that’s enough” and obviously pull him away).

Beside the grossness of the comments the facts are HE’S LYING! Flat out. Bold-Faced 100% LYING.

But does he care? Does the Liberal Media Care?  Nope.

Because if you don’t vote for them, you’re a racist and now you want women raped and people murdered.

But they aren’t fearmongering.

Biden: “In 2008, when Flint had 265 sworn officers on their police force, there were 35 murders and 91 rapes in this city. In 2010, when Flint had only 144 police officers, the murder rate climbed to 65 and rapes – just to pick two categories – climbed to 229. In 2011, you now only have 125 shields. God only knows what the numbers will be this year for Flint if we don’t rectify it…And God only knows what that number would have been had we not been able to get a little bit of help.”

Actually, FBI data reports there were just 201 officers in Flint in 2008, not 265. But that aside, if Biden’s hypothesis that more police = less crime is accurate, then the years Flint had more cops on the street should also be the years it had lower crime rates.

But the statistics show it’s not that simple. FBI data shows Flint had 258 police officers in 2006, and 261 in 2007. But according to CityData.com, which compiles crime rate data from across the country, the city of Flint had a higher “crime index” in 2006 and 2007 than it did in 2008 –despite the fact the number of police officers dropped significantly in 2008.

When you compare 2006 to 2008, you find the city had more murders (54 compared to 32), more rapes (143 compared to 103), more assaults (2,246 compared to 1,476) and more auto thefts (1,521 to 909). In other words, the crime rate in Flint isn’t necessarily linked to the number of police in the city. Based on the numbers, Biden’s argument falls flat. (commentary)

I also grew up there in the 1970’s when the population was twice as large as it is now. So Joe, you’re full of fearmongering crap as usual.

Facts never matter to Liberals if they can scare you into doing what they want you to do, which let them run your life for you.

Oh, and Harry, what kind of Jobs were we talking about anyhow?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Wednesday indicated Congress needs to worry about government jobs more than private-sector jobs, and that this is why Senate Democrats are pushing a bill aimed at shoring up teachers and first-responders.

“It’s very clear that private-sector jobs have been doing just fine (yeah, 8% unemployment or higher for nearly 3 years is “fine”); it’s the public-sector jobs where we’ve lost huge numbers, and that’s what this legislation is all about,” Reid said on the Senate floor.

Because those are union loyalists and apparatchiks they need more of so that they can vote for them. More Government bureaucrats is good. After all, Washington DC is the richest metropolitan area in America now and crony capitalism/socialism is “fine” as long as it’s the right people, government union people. 🙂

CNBC’s John Harwood: “Yesterday at a press conference one of my colleagues asked the president to respond to something Mitt Romney said. The president said, ‘I didn’t realize you were a spokesman for Mitt Romney.’ Is the White House — you feeling — the president feeling under siege from events right now?”

Daley didn’t deal with the question, so Harwood pressed him a bit. “Why would the president respond that way to a reporter, though?” Harwood asked.

“I don’t think it was a colleague from your network,”  (it was Satan itself- FOX) Daley said, “but a colleague from another network.” (they who shall not be named!) And then Daley added this: “And — sometimes  as you — I know it may surprise people, some people that there are certain people in the media who do seem at times to carry the water for certain — piece of the political spectrum.” (Other than Liberals, imagine that! How evil! :))

Obama, it seems, is under the impression he deserves veneration and reverence from all quarters and all institutions. He hasn’t received that, including from professionals like ABC’s Jake Tapper, and Obama seems to delight in critiquing the press, perhaps secretly wishing he was Howard Kurtz instead of the commander-in-chief. But it is Fox News for whom Obama and his team have special contempt. For them, Fox is clearly “the enemy,” to be hated and beaten. For those who doubt this verdict, it’s worth recalling the extraordinary campaign against Fox News carried about by Obama’s then communications director, Anita Dunn, which even Sam Stein of the Huffington Post characterized as a “brutal denunciation.” One can only imagine the howls of protest we would have heard from the fourth estate if, say, Karen Hughes had so explicitly and publicly targeted a news network during the Bush presidency. But in this instance, Dunn’s “War on Fox” was met mostly by silence and a shrug of the shoulders.

What we have seen exposed in the Obama White House is a vein of vengeance antithetical to the image put forward by Obama in 2008 – but fully consistent with what one would expect from a man well-versed in the Chicago Way. (commentary)

And after all, it’s Not his Fault! :0

And giving into FEAR is your ONLY HOPE.

Fear is THEIR ONLY HOPE.

So Be prepared for Fright Night 2012 to get much, much scarier.

Harry Reid said Republicans are calling the bill a “failure” because they are “using a different benchmark for success than we are.”

Yeah, they’re using the private sector where jobs generate revenue for taxes to pay for all the nonsense Reid spouts.

Government workers are not producers in the sense of the production we need to get the economy going.   But they are voters.   This is an attempt to keep them in the Democratic corral long enough to get Democrats re-elected.  Then Harry probably won’t care very much again.

Remember, when Obama was calling for his jobs bill to be given priority, Harry Reid was on the Senate floor expounding on the virtue of  … bike paths (and, naturally, calling for government to pay for them).

Ever get the idea that we’re all now serfs on a huge plantation paying for the whims of our “leaders”. (Bruce McQuain)

The Democrats sure think so, and they want 4 more years or else!

Occupy LA protester blames ‘the Zionist Jews’ for ruining America

“Jews have been run out of 109 countries throughout history and we need to run them out of this one.” And that’s just a “fact” according to her

And the Occupy LA orginizer they talk to would not disavow anything.

Absolutely guaranteed if that person had shown up with 1000’s or 10 of 1,000’s of Tea Partiers she would have “represented” the sentiment according to the media and would be on 24/7

But at “Occupy” it’s just a fringe nut that no one has to take responsibility for.

The double standards the media has yet again slap you in the face!

Think life is not as good as it used to be, at least in terms of your wallet? You’d be right about that. The standard of living for Americans has fallen longer and more steeply over the past three years than at any time since the US government began recording it five decades ago.

But don’t worry, that’s the “rich” people’s fault. The Republicans. The Tea party. It sure as hell isn’t Obama’s or the Democrats (who have 2/3 of the legislative power). Just ask their friends in the media, their apparatchiks, or them for that matter.

Bottom line: The average individual now has $1,315 less in disposable income than he or she did three years ago at the onset of the Great Recession – even though the recession ended, technically speaking, in mid-2009. That means less money to spend at the spa or the movies, less for vacations, new carpeting for the house, or dinner at a restaurant.

In short, it means a less vibrant economy, with more Americans spending primarily on necessities. The diminished standard of living, moreover, is squeezing the middle class, whose restlessness and discontent are evident in grass-roots movements such as the tea party and “Occupy Wall Street” and who may take out their frustrations on incumbent politicians in next year’s election.

But don’t worry, that’s the “rich” people’s fault. The Republicans. The Tea party. It sure as hell isn’t Obama’s or the Democrats (who have 2/3 of the legislative power). Just ask their friends in the media, their apparatchiks, or them for that matter. 🙂

Federal employees whose compensation averages more than $126,000 and the nation’s greatest concentration of lawyers helped Washington edge out San Jose as the wealthiest U.S. metropolitan area, government data show.

The U.S. capital has swapped top spots with Silicon Valley, according to recent Census Bureau figures, with the typical household in the Washington metro area earning $84,523 last year. The national median income for 2010 was $50,046.

The figures demonstrate how the nation’s political and financial classes are prospering as the economy struggles with unemployment above 9 percent and thousands of Americans protest in the streets against income disparity. (Bloomberg).

But don’t worry, that’s the “rich” people’s fault. The Republicans. The Tea party. It sure as hell isn’t Obama’s or the Democrats (who have 2/3 of the legislative power). Just ask their friends in the media, their apparatchiks, or them for that matter. 🙂

Does that make Washington D.C the 1%??  🙂   Just asking…

The Great OZ  (Barack) says so. Just Don’t look behind the curtain.

There is a new breed of online activists in the Obama era. They call themselves “pragmatic progressives,” but they’re better known by their enemies’ derisive label: the Obamabots.

Under the mainstream radar and largely on Twitter, the Obamabots are waging a high-intensity guerrilla war against the liberal-leaning journalists and activists who have — as they see it — gone weak in the knees and abandoned the president in his time of need.

Translation for the irrationally impaired: He and the Media aren’t liberal ENOUGH.

The Obamabots are the ragtag digital cavalry riding to the president’s rescue, a cadre of decidedly amateur supporters, people far outside the Beltway and its norms, whose intense loyalty and passion at a moment of wide disaffection can be reminiscent of Sarah Palin’s core of backers.

The best known of the group is a blogger who goes by the handle @shoq. With a respectable 12,000 Twitter followers and an astronomical 173,000 tweets since 2007, Shoq has carved out a modest but real corner of the diverse new media space.

I think I know a few of those guys over at AOL.

The Border

“Where is a terrorist more apt to be found? Not these days on an airplane more likely on the interstate,” said Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons.

Tuesday Tennessee was first to deploy VIPR simultaneously at five weigh stations and two bus stations across the state.

Yeah, anywhere but the border. We have lots of terrorists (I mean citizens) to find and intimidate there.

The random inspections really aren’t any more thorough normal, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Colonel Tracy Trott who says paying attention to details can make a difference.

Yeah, but if you see an Illegal Alien, look the other way. I’m sure they will. It’s called “prosecutorial discretion”.

Gee, I though it sounded like the Secret Police to me…But then again, I’m a Tea Partier so I’m already guilty. :0

LIBYA

And did you hear the one about how Obama killed Khaddafi. He sure thinks so.
Obama, facing re-election next year, chalked up Libya as another foreign policy success to place alongside the killing in May of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, the drawdown of most US troops from Iraq by the end of the year, and the first phase of a gradual pullout of troops from Afghanistan.

But I thought we were only supporting them, we were weren’t actively engaged in a “war” (and thus he could ignore Congress and wasn’t George W Bush) and that we let others do it?

And this wasn’t “regime change” even if we are dancing around taking credit for killing the leader of a country.

“You have won the revolution” instead — he boasted, “Without putting a single service member on the ground, we achieved our objectives.”

Which isn’t really true, since the CIA was on the ground in Libya, even if uniformed U.S. military personnel weren’t.

April 2011: Rather it seems President Obama and other hawkish elements in NATO (notably French President Sarkozy) have set up a “victory condition” only tangentially related to the war itself. With no expectation that the war could conceivably chase Gadhafi out, it will continue until he either happens to leave or dies of old age. What happens after is anyone’s guess. (antiwar.com)

But it’s part of a theme you should expect to hear as Obama runs for reelection. He tied Gadhafi’s downfall to U.S. successes against al-Qaida, the looming end of the Iraq war and what he described as cost-effective U.S. global leadership. What began as a reflection on the war in Libya wrapped up as a campaign speech. All for a war Obama waged unilaterally, without the blessing of Congress, by maintaining it was never really a war in the first place. (wired)

The War that wasn’t a war, but a victory that was all his doing and he’ll take all the credit for it. Sounds about right for our Dear Leader.

All Warriors are Campaign Warriors! 🙂

Occupy Wall Street Polls

In the first week since the poll was published, the leading reason given so far for the protests is jealousy, capturing 26.2%, or 1,094 of the 4,173 votes cast. (We will run the poll indefinitely. It appears below this story.)

Second, with 1,021 or 24% of the total was “all of the above, which included jealousy, greed, inequality, the economy, politics and the educational system.

Greed was the third most prominent reason, with 934 votes, or 22% of the total.

Economy. It’s tough to find a job out there, especially if you don’t have one. (5.12% / 214 votes)

Educational system. Many have massive student loan debt but no jobs to help pay that off. (2.2% / 92 votes)

Doug Schoen (one of the only rational Democrats left):

Our research shows clearly that the movement doesn’t represent unemployed America and is not ideologically diverse. Rather, it comprises an unrepresentative segment of the electorate that believes in radical redistribution of wealth, civil disobedience and, in some instances, violence. Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, virtually all (98%) say they would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and nearly one-third (31%) would support violence to advance their agenda.

The vast majority of demonstrators are actually employed, and the proportion of protesters unemployed (15%) is within single digits of the national unemployment rate (9.1%).

An overwhelming majority of demonstrators supported Barack Obama in 2008. Now 51% disapprove of the president while 44% approve, and only 48% say they will vote to re-elect him in 2012, while at least a quarter won’t vote.

Fewer than one in three (32%) call themselves Democrats, while roughly the same proportion (33%) say they aren’t represented by any political party.

What binds a large majority of the protesters together—regardless of age, socioeconomic status or education—is a deep commitment to left-wing policies: opposition to free-market capitalism and support for radical redistribution of wealth, intense regulation of the private sector, and protectionist policies to keep American jobs from going overseas.

Sixty-five percent say that government has a moral responsibility to guarantee all citizens access to affordable health care, a college education, and a secure retirement—no matter the cost. By a large margin (77%-22%), they support raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans, but 58% oppose raising taxes for everybody, with only 36% in favor. And by a close margin, protesters are divided on whether the bank bailouts were necessary (49%) or unnecessary (51%).

Thus Occupy Wall Street is a group of engaged progressives who are disillusioned with the capitalist system and have a distinct activist orientation. Among the general public, by contrast, 41% of Americans self-identify as conservative, 36% as moderate, and only 21% as liberal. That’s why the Obama-Pelosi embrace of the movement could prove catastrophic for their party.

But if he can muddy the waters, with his friends in the media, and make Occupiers= Tea Partiers and vice versa then Marxism is acceptable, right? 🙂

After all, the Liberal media is much more pervasive than the Truth. And if you tell a lie often enough it can become the truth even if it isn’t. And that is, after all, most important for re-election.

A recent Occupy Wall Street discussion generated more classroom heat than I expected. Some students identified with protester outrage and applauded the movement against economic injustice. Others suggested that these anarchists and slackers should get jobs and stop begrudging the “one percent” their hard-earned wealth.

The Occupy Wall Street debate is not for the faint of heart, but educators must not shrink from it. (kentucky.com)

I’m sure they felt the same about the Tea Party. 🙂
Just to be “fair” 🙂

After all, they are the same, according to the Leftists and the Leftist media. 🙂

The Real Story

To make this easier I have removed the Trillions (now dollars) and the like to simplify it.

You take in $2.00

You spend $3.60

So now when people are screaming at you to cut spending you say “ok I’ll  promise that my ‘super committee’ will cut .15 cents a year (That’s a $1.50 over TEN years) if you let me spend another $1 NOW on top of what I am ALREADY spending.

I will gladly pay you .15 cents on Thursday if you loan me a dollar now.

Oh, you don’t want to?

Well, rich Uncle Warren can afford it. He has more than he needs so let’s force him to give it to me.

And that will solve everything.

It’s only “fair” He has more than me, or you, after all.

And what are you going to do with that dollar, young man, you might ask? Pay down your debts?

No. I’m going to spend it on my union buddies, entitlements, and government jobs so they can kick it back to me for my campaign just like I have done before.

So how is that going to create more jobs?

It will create government jobs (government jobs are paid for by whom exactly? — taxpayers! and unions make up how much of the actual workforce- 18%!!).

The Top 2% spend 1/3 of all the consumer cash in this country. They also pay the most taxes.

The Top 1% pay nearly 40% of all the income taxes.

47% of all American pay no income taxes AT ALL.

But the rich  are the greedy bastards who have to be taken down by the Bolsheviks.

Hate them!

Mind you they create most of the actual jobs.

But they are evil, hoarding little bastards and we must take their money.

Not cut spending or pay down the debt. We need to give out more freebies to my apparatchiks and monetary drug dealers.

The number of households receiving food stamps swelled by 2 million to 13.6 million, meaning that nearly 1 in 8 receives the government aid.

But food stamps are an economic stimulus according to Obama Administration officials. So it’s all good.

In record-setting numbers, young adults struggling to find work are shunning long-distance moves to live with Mom and Dad, delaying marriage and buying fewer homes, often raising kids out of wedlock. They suffer from the highest unemployment since World War II and risk living in poverty more than others – nearly 1 in 5.

“We have a monster jobs problem, and young people are the biggest losers,” said Andrew Sum, an economist and director of the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University. He noted that for recent college grads now getting by with waitressing, bartending and odd jobs, they will have to compete with new graduates for entry-level career positions when the job market eventually does improve.

“Their really high levels of underemployment and unemployment will haunt young people for at least another decade,” Andrew Sum, an economist and director of the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University said.

In all, the employment-to-population ratio for all age groups from 2007-2010 dropped faster than for any similar period since the government began tracking the data in 1948. In the past year, 43 of the 50 largest U.S. metropolitan areas continued to post declines in employment, led by Charlotte, N.C., Jacksonville, Fla., Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Detroit, all cities experiencing a severe housing bust, budget deficits or meltdowns in industries such as banking or manufacturing.

Without work, young adults aren’t starting careers and lives in new cities, instead hanging out with their parents.

“Many young adults are essentially postponing adulthood and all of the family responsibilities and extra costs that go along with it,” said Mark Mather, an associate vice president at the private Population Reference Bureau. He described a shift toward a new U.S. norm – commonly seen in Europe – in which more people wait until their 30s to leave the parental nest. (AP)

And it’s “the rich”‘s fault don’t you know!. And Republicans “protect” the rich so vote for me (the Democrat) because the other guy’s an asshole!

If we just SPEND EVEN MORE and have even more government largess everything will eventually work out.

If you bang your head against the wall hard enough YOU WILL BREAK THE WALL!

The Wimpy President : Wimpy is soft-spoken, very intelligent, and well educated, but also cowardly, very lazy, overly parsimonious and utterly gluttonous. He is also something of a scam artist and, especially in the newspaper strip, can be notoriously underhanded at times.

“I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today”

I’ll gladly cut $1.5 Trillion OVER TEN YEARS (most of which I won’t be the President for) if I can spend yet another Trillion Now!

And if you don’t let me “pass the bill now” you’re just an obstructionist protecting greedy rich people, and a violent tea-bagger racist! 🙂

New campaign ad for Obama in Spanish only, “In the face of Republicans, the President can’t do it alone. Read the plan. Stand together for more jobs.”

Welcome to Obamanomics. The Land of Opportunists and Apparatchiks!

As the U.S. government grapples to find ways to trim the bloated federal deficit, a new report suggests officials might start with cutting out $16 muffins and $10 cookies.

“We found the Department (of Justice) spent $16 on each of the 250 muffins served at an August 2009 legal conference in Washington,” said a DOJ Office of Inspector General report released on Tuesday.

The DOJ spent $121 million on conferences in fiscal 2008 and 2009, which exceeded its own spending limits and appeared to be extravagant and wasteful, according to the report that examined 10 conferences held during that period.

The review turned up the expensive muffins, which came from the Capital Hilton Hotel just blocks from the White House, as well as cookies and brownies that cost almost $10 each.

The department spent $32 per person on snacks of Cracker Jack, popcorn, and candy bars and coffee that cost $8.24 per cup at another conference, the report said.

The DOJ also spent nearly $600,000 for event planning services for five conferences, the document said.

A Justice Department spokeswoman said most of the gathering were held when there were no strict limits on food and beverage costs, adding the DOJ had taken steps since 2009 “to ensure that these problems do not occur again.”

Word of the agency’s extravagant spending drew a swift response from Capitol Hill.

Senator Chuck Grassley, the senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee which has oversight of the Justice Department, said the report was a blueprint for the first cuts that should be made by the “super committee” searching for at least $1.2 trillion in savings.

“Sixteen dollar muffins and $600,000 for event planning services are what make Americans cynical about government and why they are demanding change,” Grassley said in a statement. “People are outraged, and rightly so.” (yahoo)

Pissed off!

I am so Pissed off right now I think I could chew through adamantium!

The first downgrade in America’s credit rating happened at the last second of the business week yesterday and you know that both parties, but most especially the Democrats are strategizing on who to blame (the other guy) for this turn of events that could easy hurt every single american alive and to come.

They aren’t really worried about doing anything substantial about the problem that led to this. They are all on holiday after successfully managing to fix the political problem they got themselves into. That was the “debt deal” made on Tuesday.

They just don’t have the maturity or the political will do deal with the ACTUAL problem.

And the Democrats and their Media apparatchiks are already denying it’s anyone’s fault but theirs.

And the Republican haven’t got the balls to deal with it. They caved last week.

So the Titanic has now struck the iceberg that was in full F*cking View. But it’s not their fault!

It’s the Rightwingers!

It’s The Left Wingers!

It’s The Tea partiers!

It’s Bush’s Fault!

And the American people are just as immature. They can’t handle the truth either.

And the ones that can, they’ll be to blame for it because they bring it up.

Ignorance is Strength! Ignorance is Bliss!

And “The Other guy” Is an Asshole!

And above all, it doesn’t “feel” right!

AAAAARRRRGGGHHH!!

The self-delusions and the hyper-partisanship is so out of control I’m not sure there is any hope left.

Obama and his policies can’t possibly be to blame. After all, as the Left maintains all the Spending he’s done is because of all of Bush’s Spending!

It can’t possibly be their fault!

And not enough Republicans own up to the problem either.

So ultimately, the people who are yelling “It’s the Iceberg Stupid!” are going to be to blame as the ship of state sinks and takes everyone with them.

And the idiot sheep will believe them.

AND THAT PISSES ME OFF!

The ratings action immediately fueled partisan wrangling Friday night. Allies to President Obama said it underscored his call for a “grand bargain” that would trim $4 trillion from the federal budget involving a mix of tax revenue and spending cuts.

Do now the Republicans will be blamed for it because they didn’t heed President Obama’s call for a “grand bargain” and the Liberal Media will beat us to death with this Talking Point.

Only problem is, there was a “grand bargain” on the table (actually two if you count the Ryan Budget) but the Democrats demagogued it as trying to throw “grandma off a cliff” and trying to “kill Medicare” and “well, if we don’t have more revenue we won’t be able to pay Social Security and Medicare” and all the other extortions they trotted out.

So it was the Republican’s fault for proposing a grand bargain, then after the downgrade it was the Republicans fault for agreeing to Obama’s version of it (which he never actually proposed by the way- speeches are not legislation).

So we’re all damned if we do and damned if we don’t. But at least it’s not anyone’s fault!

In short, the Democrats will blame the Republicans for the downgrade for not agreeing to the “grand bargain” THEY REFUSED to even vote on or consider!

And the Liberal media will trumpet this to the highest.

And stupid people with very short memories will buy it!

And the Republican will whine and complain. But no one, certainly no one in the Liberal Media will care about the Actual Truth.

And certainly not CUT SPENDING!

They’ll only care about the politics of it all!

The Drug Addicts just OD’d and we all get hammered.

Mind you, Standard & Poors itself is far for Lilly white and godly since they refused to deal with the fake credit run (Fannie and Freddie and Co.) up that led to all this.

So everyone is to blame, but no one will take it. No one is mature enough to face reality.

It will be given to those who pointed it out — The Tea Party.

And everyone will vent on them.

And it will “feel” good.

Meanwhile, the ship continues to sink.

4/19/11: Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said Tuesday there is “no risk” the U.S. will lose its top credit rating amid a new analysis that revised its outlook on American debt to “negative.”

Well, as usual, Turbo Tax was wrong. But don’t expect the liberal to remember. Hell, they can’t even remember Obama’s Civility Speech in Tucson 7 months ago when they call people who disagree with them “terrorists”.

So let the Blame game commence!

And everyone will argue that the house is on fire but they are not to blame and no one is going to do anything real about it. But at least it won’t be their fault!

So get ready for the Solution: Spend More and TAX everyone more!

After all, it’s Bush’s Fault! 🙂

Washington Shrugged

What’s your political affiliation?

Republican? Democrat?

Or are you an independent?

Most said ” independent” when we asked people outside my office.

In their new book, “Declaration of Independents,” Nick Gillespie and Matt Welch from Reason say that independents with libertarian politics are on the rise, and they can fix what’s wrong with America. Why? Because everything in our culture is being democratized, and the parts of America free from government control are getting better.

“Citizen journalists” like Andrew Breitbart break stories the major networks would miss or ignore.

Fewer people are jammed into narrow categories of race, sexual preference, or style…we’re becoming a culture of “mutants,” say Gillespie and Welch.

iPhones…Facebook…YouTube…all of these new innovations are designed to give individuals more choices and ways to express themselves.

And people expressing themselves is a great way to be independent. Music and pop culture liberates people all over the world … and constantly pushes forward tolerance and freedom of speech. Former MTV personalities Kurt Loder and Kennedy say a freer culture means freer people.

Government impedes progress. What government controls — education, health care, entitlements — government messes up. What do they all have in common? Too little choice, and too much regulation. (John Stossel)

Video: 41 mins

In Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand wrote: “There’s no way to rule innocent men… When there aren’t enough criminals, one declares so many things to be a crime… that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws”

In just one year, Washington’s regulators added 80,000 pages of regulations. Additionally, there are state and county regulations. Even worse, the regulations are ambiguous and subject to change. This is why big business is determined to get in bed with big government: it’s a protection racket, akin to the Mafia demanding a “protection fee” from the shop down the corner. They don’t want to pay that fee, so they make their way into government. After getting in bed with government, once big business gets enough power to use government to its advantage at the expense of the people it will do so. People complain about the symptoms of crony capitalism but always overlook the cause: big government.

Consider this also: IF you raised taxes on only the “rich” (aka <$200,000 a year) to erase the debt each one of them would have to pay approximately $3.4 million dollars EACH.
And that doesn’t even begin to address the real problem in Washington.
They have a SPENDING PROBLEM, Not a Revenue problem.
Oh, and that Stimulus that cost $787,000,000,000 and was alleged to save 2.3 million jobs…That $393,000 per job “saved or created”. And they were primarily from the democrat apparatchik class of Unions (like the UAW and Teachers) to state and bank workers.
But don’t worry, they know what they are doing…. 😦

Freeloading America

This was just marvelous watching some elitist get skewered by Sen. Ran Paul over low-flow toilets, mercury-filled light bulbs and free choice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAn1FWInBi0&feature=player_embedded

John Stossel: Some Americans actually make a living … begging for money. Professional panhandlers, they’re called, sometimes making more than $100 in a day. I tried it in Manhattan, and made over $11 in one hour—that would be $23,000 a year—tax free!

It’s a small example of why some said that  the USA is turning into a nation of freeloaders. The Manhattan Institute’s Heather MacDonald says that beggars she’s encountered “have the most deep-seated sense of entitlement that I’ve ever come across.”

From those defaulting on their home mortgages, to those who see lawsuits as a lottery ticket, many Americans live off the hard work of others.

Which is why I am a “heartless” right-winger when I ignore them on the streets.

Then there are Million and Billion Dollar Liberals or Government Apparatchiks. Like “Job Creation Czar” Jeffrey Immelt.

General Electric CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt is super-close to President Obama. The president named Immelt chairman of his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Before that, Immelt was on Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board. He’s a regular companion when Obama travels abroad to hawk American exports.

GE, run by Immelt, just made Billion Dollars in the US, tax free. Why?

They paid no taxes at all!

2010 was the second year in a row that GE recorded billions in profits and paid no taxes.

The company, led by Immelt, earned $14.2 billion in profits in 2010, but it paid not a penny in taxes because the bulk of those profits, some $9 billion, were offshore. In fact, GE got a $3.2 billion tax benefits.

In a statement, General Electric said that it “pays what it owes under the law and is scrupulous about its compliance with tax obligations in all jurisdictions.” The company claims that its zero-dollar tax bill is largely a result of losses at its financial arm, GE Capital, due to the Wall Street meltdown. (ABCNews)

“So for GE, in many ways the environmental movement has turned out to be profitable for our investors,” Immelt said Thursday night at a fundraiser at the College of Charleston. (P&C)

But I guarantee very little ire towards an ally from the Press and the Class Warfare Liberals.

They gamed the system and freeloaded. Just like the begger on the corner.

After all, they are “entitled”.

But the class warfare liberal will rail against “corporate” america and CEO’s and  how evil “rich” people are.

They’ll rail endlessly about Exxon, but not GE.

Exxon is EVIL! 😡

Today, White House spokesman Jay Carney said that the president is “bothered” by the idea that a U.S. company could pay no taxes, but he wouldn’t talk about GE specifically. Carney was also quick to say that Immelt’s council advises the president on job growth and not on tax policy.

“It is part of the problem of the corporate tax structure that companies hire, you know, armies of tax lawyers to understand how it works and to take advantage of the various loopholes that exist, that are legal in order to reduce their tax burden,” Carney said.

When President Obama announced his decision to appoint Immelt to the unpaid advisory role on job creation in January, some critics wondered whether the move was appropriate. Under his leadership, GE laid off 21,000 American workers and closed 20 factories between 2007 and 2009. More than half of GE’s workforce is now outside the United States. (ABC News)

Overall, the Times notes, the share of U.S. taxes paid by corporations has fallen from 30 percent of federal revenue in the 1950s to 6.6 percent in 2009. (CBS)

And guess who has to make up for it? 🙂

But he’s a Buds with the Prez ( Lobbyist!), and they will cover for him.

“Over the years, a parade of lobbyists has rigged the tax code to benefit particular companies and industries,” he said. “Those with accountants or lawyers to work the system can end up paying no taxes at all. But all the rest are hit with one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world. It makes no sense. It has to change.”–President Obama in yet another I said it but I sure as hell never actually meant it or believed it, but damn it sounded good moment last January.

Carney was asked why, if the president wants corporate tax reform, he appointed “to the head of the Competitiveness and Jobs Council a person who is now the poster child for abusing the system to get out of paying taxes.”

“The jobs and competitiveness council is designed for just that,” Carney responded. “And he has brought together a lot of voices on that. And he wants to hear the opinions of every member of that council. And we have said, with regard to questions about other members who have been appointed, that the president obviously doesn’t want a council of people who agree with him on every issue; he wants to hear diversity of opinion.” (CBSNews)

Blah, blah,blah,blah,blah…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Face it. He’s buds with the Prez. They both have a “Green” agenda. Immelt’s is just greenbacks!

The Prez gives Billions for Brazil to drill for oil to benefit Billionaire Socialist George Soros but has a virtual moratorium in this country.

George Soros is likely the #1 Democrat $$$ contributor.

Money Leads to Power and more Power leads to More Money.

Just look at the Public Sector Unions!

Illegal Immigrants!

But don’t worry, THEY ARE ENTITLED. 🙂

Everyone is entitled (except “racist” white male Europeans that is).

It’s just matter of much entitlement you feel and how much you can grab. 🙂

I Love Irony!

Political Cartoons by Chuck Asay

A delicious irony was uncovered in regards to Unions and our Union Orginizer-in-Chief…<<drum roll>> UNION COLLECTIVE BARGAINING IS ILLEGAL FOR FEDERAL EMPLOYEES! and better yet this was PASSED BY JIMMY CARTER AND THE DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED CONGRESS 33 Years ago!!

Now that’s comedy. Black Comedy. 🙂

When candidate Obama was campaigning in South Carolina in 2007, he said he was proud to wear the “union label” and that if workers were denied rights to organize or collectively bargain when he was elected, “I’ll put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself, I’ll will walk on that picket line with you as president of the United States of America.”

But as the protests over collective bargaining rights drag out in Wisconsin, President Obama has yet to join the demonstrators outside the Capitol building in Madison, and it appears his administration is trying not to get involved in the fight.

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett says what’s happening in Wisconsin is not a national fight. “Let’s not turn what’s really a Wisconsin issue into a Washington issue,” Jarrett told Fox News in an interview Tuesday. (FOX)

Which is why when this started President Obama called it “an assault on unions”. 🙂 but then he figured out he might be opening a can of worms that may turn on him.  And certainly goes against his new “centrist” image. So he decided he didn’t want to get involved (at least not directly, better to have his apparatchiks and minions do it for him quietly).

Why, because the CEO of the Federal Employees and Their Union is a massive Hypocrite.

Yes, I know, a Liberal who’s a Hypocrite. Amazing! 🙂

WSJ: The union horde is spreading, from Madison to Indianapolis to a state capital near you. And yet the Democratic and union bigwigs engineering the outrage haven’t directed their angry multitudes at what is arguably the most “hostile workplace” in the nation: Washington, D.C.

It will no doubt surprise you to learn that President Obama, the great patron of the working man, also happens to be the great CEO of one of the least union-friendly shop floors in the nation.

This is, after all, the president who has berated Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal to limit the collective bargaining rights of public employees, calling the very idea an “assault on unions.” This is also the president who has sicced his political arm, Organizing for America, on Madison, allowing the group to fill buses and plan rallies. Ah, but it’s easy to throw rocks when you live in a stone (White) house.

Fact: President Obama is the boss of a civil work force that numbers up to two million (excluding postal workers and uniformed military). Fact: Those federal workers cannot bargain for wages or benefits. Fact: Washington, D.C. is, in the purest sense, a “right to work zone.” Federal employees are not compelled to join a union, nor to pay union dues. Fact: Neither Mr. Obama, nor the prior Democratic majority, ever acted to give their union chums a better federal deal.
Scott Walker, eat your heart out.
For this enormous flexibility in managing his work force, Mr. Obama can thank his own party. In 1978, Democratic President Jimmy Carter, backed by a Democratic Congress, passed the Civil Service Reform Act. (The Civil Service Reform Act (P.L. 95-454, 92 Stat. 111), the first comprehensive civil service law since 1883, fulfilled the campaign promise of President Jimmy Carter to reform the federal civil service. Along with Reorganization Plan Number 2, it abolished the Civil Service Commission and created three new agencies to implement these reforms: the United States Merit Systems Protection Board, the Office of Personnel Management, and the Federal Labor Relations Authority. Of particular concern were the problems of employees with poor job performance and the protection of federal employees who “blew the whistle” on government misconduct and fraud.-enotes.com) Washington had already established its General Schedule (GS) classification and pay system for workers. The 1978 bill went further, focused as it was on worker accountability and performance. It severely proscribed the issues over which employees could bargain, as well as prohibited compulsory union support.

Democrats weren’t then (and aren’t now) about to let their federal employees dictate pay. The GS system, as well as the president and Congress, sees to that. Nor were they about to let workers touch health-care or retirement plans. Unions are instead limited to bargaining over personnel employment practices such as whether employees are allowed to wear beards, or whether the government must pay to clean uniforms. These demands matter, though they are hardly the sort to break the federal bank.
Which is precisely the point. Washington politicians may not know much, but they know power—in particular, the art of keeping it. Even Carter Democrats understood the difference between being in electoral debt to the unions, and being outright owned by them. And as Gov. Walker will attest, allowing unions to collectively bargain over pay and benefits is allowing them the keys to the statehouse.

Innocent Americans assume that unions use collective bargaining solely to obtain better pay and benefits. Not exactly. The real game is to insist that the dough runs through the union—giving it power over the state.

In Wisconsin, for instance, the teachers union doesn’t just bargain for more health dollars. It also bargains to require that local school districts buy health insurance for their teachers through the union-affiliated health-insurance plan, called WEA Trust. That requirement gives the union (not the state) ultimate say over health benefits. It also costs the state at least $68 million more annually than it would if schools could buy the state-employee health plan—money that goes to a union outfit.

Since Washington pols aren’t about to let unions run their town, the result is a weird bifurcation. On the state level, union campaign dollars are primarily contingent upon Democrats agreeing to allow public-employee unions to milk taxpayers dry. On the federal level, union dollars are primarily contingent upon Democrats agreeing to pervert federal laws and institutions so that private-sector unions get special privileges over employers and nonunion companies—consider project-labor agreements, Davis-Bacon and card check.

All of this helps explain why Mr. Obama has gone quiet on Wisconsin, and why Organizing for America is scurrying to hide its involvement. The president’s initial instinct was to jump into the state, a 2012 battleground area where he might build points with his liberal base.

The White House has since sensed danger. As the world is painfully aware, Mr. Obama is under no obligation to balance his budget. So to whack Gov. Walker for his efforts to do so might strike some Americans as irresponsible, especially as the president is working to convince them that he really does care about deficits.

The other risk: The spotlight turns back to D.C. If the president is so worried about Wisconsin’s “assault,” why has he never taken up federal bargaining rights? If the Badger State’s current system is the gold standard, why has he not replicated it? If it is so important that all parties “sit at the table”—as White House Press Secretary Jay Carney recently lectured Wisconsin—how dare Mr. Obama unilaterally declare a federal pay freeze? (Honestly, the union-busting gall!) 🙂

The debate over public-union giveaways has only started. That debate would benefit were Mr. Obama to explain how it is that Wisconsin is wrong to ask for the same budget flexibility that he enjoys as president. If he’s unable to do that, perhaps the debate ought to be over.

AMEN!

Political Cartoons by Chip Bok

FDR: In a little-known letter he wrote to the president of the National Federation of Federal Employees in 1937, Roosevelt reasoned:

“… Meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the government. All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations … The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for … officials … to bind the employer … The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives …

“Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of government employees. Upon employees in the federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people … This obligation is paramount … A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent … to prevent or obstruct … Government … Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government … is unthinkable and intolerable.”

But FDR had no inkling of what the end game would be. In 1958, New York City Mayor Robert Wagner signed an executive order allowing civil workers to unionize. It was an obvious appeal to union voters. A Wagner aide suggested that city workers would be a large enough constituency to guarantee his re-election.

This opened up the floodgates around the country as other Democratic legislators followed Wagner’s lead. In 1959, Wisconsin became the first state to enact public employee collective bargaining laws. President John F. Kennedy then followed with an executive order granting federal employees the right to bargain collectively. As journalist Roger Lowenstein wrote in his recent book detailing the explosion of government pension debt, “Membership in public unions rose exponentially.”

The incestuous relationship began. But to this day 88% of the American People are not in a Union. Don’t have the Unions fat-cat, nearly-free Health care or can retire in their 40s with massive pensions that will cost the taxpayers Millions.

But the spoiled brats in the Unions will continue to kick and scream and yell, “MINE!” like some 5 year old with their favourite toy — Taxpayers $$$.

“I didn’t like cap and trade, I didn’t like Obamacare, I didn’t like the stimulus…but I didn’t walk out.” -Sen Paul Ryan (R-WI)

But the irony that Democrats did worse to Federal Employees than what Governor Walker, Governor Daniels and Governor Kasich want to do to their Unions is quite frankly hilarious.

But don’t tell the Liberals or the Ministry of Truth in the Media. They will just shout you down you evil Lying Nazi Dictator!!! 🙂

And thus concludes our lesson in “civility” and “adult conversations”. 🙂

Fascinating Tidbits

Interesting Video: http://dailycaller.com/2010/11/30/this-is-why-the-people-have-thrown-you-out/

Watch the lame dimwit sitting in for Pelosi who can’t make a decision on her own. Fascinating stuff, at least I thought so.

Add to that, this picked up from newly-minted Senator Bennett D-Colorado:

A hot mic left on during a Senate vote Tuesday morning on the Food Safety Act caught a senator complaining that process of setting the agenda during the lame-duck session is “rigged.”

“It’s all rigged. The whole conversation is rigged,” said Colorado Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet. “The fact that we don’t get to a discussion before the break about what we’re going to do in the lame duck. It’s just rigged.”

The remark was picked up live on C-SPAN 2, although microphones are usually turned down during voting times. An aide quickly realized the mistake, jumped up and had the sound cut off.

Bennet Chief of Staff Guy Cecil stood by the senator’s comments.

“It’s something he’s been talking about from day one,” Cecil told The Daily Caller in an interview outside the Senate chamber. “The whole process being rigged against having a real conversation about tax cuts, the estate tax and the defense authorization. We’re not having a lot of those conversations. It’s just a symptom of Washington being broken.”

Fascinating… 🙂

So Far Left he’s 2 Dimensional MSDNC’s Keith Olbermann:

“We have a political party demanding that we borrow money to pay for tax cuts on household income above a quarter million, while it is at the same time refusing to borrow a lot less money so that middle class Americans who can’t find work can keep their homes and just barely keep their heads above water….They don’t live in this world. They don’t live in this country. And I think we’d be better off if they didn’t live in this country.”
— MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, November 18 Countdown.

But the progressives like him CAN and Did spend 3 Trillion dollars we don’t have for their pet socialism in the last 2 years to no good effect and that was perfectly fine.

The Democrats simply can’t stop their addiction to class warfare.

And I find it hilarious when these Democrats who spent 3 Trillion dollars in the last 2 years are suddenly worried about spending only when it’s against their ideology and they are in total control of who gets it anymore. It’s ok for them to spend, it’s not ok for you to do it, especially if it doesn’t benefit them!

Fascinating…

Three of the “Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength,” a group of 90 plus millionaires who signed a letter to President Obama asking him to allow the tax cuts on people with an income of $1 million or more each year to expire, say that despite their call to raise taxes, they will not pay the government more than they are required to, nor will they cut the government a personal check. (aka Not in my back pocket- all sound and fury signifying nothing!).

“I pay the taxes that I am required to pay, just like everybody else,” said Ron Garret, a software engineer turned angel investor who earned his fortune at Google. “I follow the law, I play by the rules, even when I don’t like the rules, even when I think the rules are wrong.”

In a democracy, he said, “the right way to address it…is to try to get the rules changed, not to go and play by your own rules.”

“I do everything I can to pay the least taxes that I’m required to pay,” said John Katzman, CEO of 2tor and founder of Princeton Review. “I’m not proposing that anybody decides to send a check to the government, and I’m not going to do that. The tax code was written to be followed, not to say it’s wrong.”

“I don’t bend over backwards to find every tax loophole,” he added, “but if I’m due a deduction, I take it.”

Does he see any hypocrisy in his calling for higher taxes, then?

“Not a bit.”

Fascinating…

On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate rejected a ban on earmarks, the addenda to bills that allow congressmen and senators to steer federal cash toward pet projects in their states and districts. The vote wasn’t even close. The ban was defeated 56-39.

The drug addicts didn’t vote to cut off their drugs. What a surprise. I’m shocked!

Also this week, the Senate approved $1.25 billion in funding for black farmers who were supposedly discriminated against by the Department of Agriculture. Only one problem: The vast majority of claimants to that cash are fraudulent. There are 18,000 black farmers in the United States. Over 94,000 supposed black farmers have filed claims against the Department of Agriculture. Those farmers who were discriminated against were already recipients of a $1 billion settlement distributed in years past. Why the sudden need to spend an additional $1.25 billion for non-farming farmers? Just another racial payoff by liberals to a key constituency. (Daily Caller)

Gotta pay off those apparatchiks.

It’s time for America’s youth to buckle up and take a rough ride on Reality Highway. For the past two years, President Obama has promised our children the moon, stars, rainbows, unicorns and universal health care for all. But the White House Santa’s cradle-to-grave entitlement mandates are a spectacularly predictable bust.

Don’t take it from me. Take it from Obamacare’s own biggest cheerleaders.

Late last month, the Service Employees International Union informed dues-paying members of its behemoth 1199 affiliate in New York that it was dropping its health care coverage for children. That’s right. A radical leftist union, not an evil Republican corporation, is abandoning the young ‘uns to cut costs.

More than 30,000 low-wage families will be affected, according to The Wall Street Journal. Who’s to blame? SEIU 1199 benefits manager Mitra Behroozi singled out oppressive new state and federal regulations, including the much-ballyhooed Obamacare rule forcing insurers to cover dependents well into their 20s:

“…(N)ew federal health-care reform legislation requires plans with dependent coverage to expand that coverage up to age 26,” Behroozi explained in an Oct. 22 letter to members. “Our limited resources are already stretched as far as possible, and meeting this new requirement would be financially impossible.”

In a related development, over the past several months several insurers across California, Colorado, Ohio and Missouri have dropped child-only plans because of Obamacare-induced premium increases. Untold tens of thousands of families who purchase their plans in the private individual health market will be affected.

Let us pause for a moment to ruminate on this wholly man-caused disaster. To sell Obamacare and manufacture support, desperate Democrats pandered to the college set and their parents. Former SEIU chief Andy Stern specifically touted the unfunded kiddie insurance mandate as a strategic selling point, telling the Washington Post early this year that the lobbying and public relations campaign would be “helped by which parts of the bill go into effect immediately. It’s hard to talk about things that’ll happen in 2019. But if you can say to people that if your kid is 26 years old, you can keep him on your insurance plan? … They get that.”

Some 20 states had already passed legislation requiring insurers to cover adult children before the federal rule was imposed. Citing results in New Jersey, Wisconsin and elsewhere, many critics pointed to how such top-down benefits mandates were driving up the cost of insurance and limiting access instead of expanding it. In response, top SEIU thug Dennis Rivera accused Obamacare opponents of “terrorist tactics” in a conference call earlier this spring with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Now, confronted with the thorny allocation of scarce resources, profligate money managers at the SEIU are dropping thousands of kids’ health coverage because they, too, can’t afford to foot the bill imposed by the president whom their union bosses spent more than $60 million to elect. And SEIU’s Rivera is nowhere to be found.

The SEIU also pumped tens of millions of dollars in union funds directly into the campaign for Obamacare. Workers regurgitated White House talking points hyping increased access, lower premiums and peace of mind for the working class. SEIU 1199 — which is now cutting off health care coverage to children whose parents work in the health care industry of all industries — was at the forefront of those D.C.-directed “reform” rallies. The same militant leaders of SEIU 1199 sent hordes of their workers on buses to an anti-tea party rally convened by Comedy Central clowns in October, while their benefits and pension funds eroded.

Yes, the union road to hell is paved with workers’ own hard-earned dues money. All hail progressivism!

How far we’ve come from the halcyon moment when President Obama rallied young college students at George Mason University in Virginia in March. To wild applause, he pledged: “If you buy a new plan, there won’t be lifetime or restrictive annual limits on the amount of care you receive from your insurance companies. (Applause.) And by the way, to all the young people here today, starting this year if you don’t have insurance, all new plans will allow you to stay on your parents’ plan until you are 26 years old. (Applause.)”

Cue bitter laughter here. As I reported two weeks ago, more than 111 unions (including two SEIU affiliates), companies and insurers have now secured federal waivers to escape the first provision Obama mentioned to the George Mason University students. And more financially strapped union affiliates like SEIU 1199 will undoubtedly be canceling children’s coverage to escape the costs tied to Obama’s second vow.

For the kiddie human shields who helped the Democrats dig their own ditch, reality bites. Live and learn.

Well, you can’t expect Liberals to follow their own agenda. It’s not like they walk their own walk. They just want you to walk their walk because they get a thrill out of being puppetmasters, but don’t expect them to do it themselves!

Fascinating… 🙂

Political Cartoon by Mike Lester

The Ministry of Truth

“I’m sad to report today a death of a good friend to all of us…..Journalism, the once esteemed 4th estate of our nation and the protector of our freedoms and a watchdog of our rights has passed away after a long struggle with a crippling and debilitating disease of acute dishonesty aggravated by advanced laziness and the loss of brain function.”–Governor Mike Huckabee (2009)

Just days before the biggest election in my lifetime and you want to know where the Mainstream Media is?

Stumping for the Democrats and trying to smear the Republicans as best they can.

And The President?

He’s on Spanish Language radio telling hispanics to get to the polls to stop their “enemies” (aka non-socialist democrats).

In one recent example, on Monday President Obama urged Latinos to “punish our enemies” during a Univision broadcast.

“If Latinos sit out the election,” Obama said, “instead of saying, ‘We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,’ if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it’s gonna be harder . . . “

“He’s the president of the United States. The president is supposed to be the president of all the people, even those who disagree with his agenda and who disagree with him,” FOX’s Monica Crowley said.

He and the Media obviously don’t think so.

He’s only interested in his apparatchiks. Everyone else is an “enemy” of his State.

After all, the end justifies the means.

“The session of Congress now drawing to a close was the most productive in nearly half a century,” the AP’s Jim Abrams touted Monday.

On CBS’s Sunday Morning, correspondent Rita Braver applauded House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as “one of the most effective speakers in congressional history,” “a hero in some quarters,” and “the irresistible force who marshaled House Democrats to pass controversial administration policies — including the stimulus package, Wall Street reform, and health care.”

CBS’s Lesley Stahl popped up on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Monday to fret how the dreadful economy is hurting Obama’s image, as if his administration’s policies are thoroughly unrelated: ”He’s fighting an economy that just won’t give him anything….No credit. No credit at all for what he’s accomplished.”

The broadcast TV networks have systematically skewed their coverage against Republicans and the Tea Party, a new study by the Media Research Center finds. MRC analysts reviewed the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts from September 1 through October 25. Key findings:

■ Only conservative/Tea Party candidates cast as “extreme.” Congressional Democrats and President Obama are facing voters’ wrath because of their extreme agenda over the past two years: government-run health care; massive unsupportable spending; a proposed “cap-and-trade” tax on energy, higher income taxes, etc. But MRC analysts found 35 evening news stories which conveyed the Democratic spin point that conservative and Tea Party candidates are “extreme,” “fringe,” or “out of the mainstream,” vs. ZERO stories conveying the charge that left-wing Democrats are “out of the mainstream.”

■ Three times more “conservative” labels than “liberal” tags. Out of 62 ideological labels assigned by reporters, three-fourths (48, or 77%) were aimed at conservatives, vs. just 14 (23%) for liberals. Only Republicans faced extreme labels — both Joe Miller and Christine O’Donnell were tagged as “ultra-conservatives” — with no Democrat ever branded an “ultra-liberal.”

CBS called Pennsylvania Republican Pat Toomey “conservative,” but Democrat Joe Sestak was not labeled as “liberal.” All of the networks called Christine O’Donnell a “conservative,” but none said her opponent, Chris Coons, was “liberal.” Most comically, CBS would not call loud-mouthed Florida Rep. Alan Grayson a “liberal,” but tagged his opponent Daniel Webster as “conservative.”

■ Adopting Democrats’ campaign agenda. The networks elevated contests meant to show Republicans in a poor light. While it’s not on anyone’s list of closest races, the networks devoted the most coverage to Delaware’s Senate race (15 evening news stories), emphasizing O’Donnell’s perceived gaffes. Next: the California Governor’s race (11 stories), emphasizing allegations against GOP nominee Meg Whitman. Rounding out the networks’ Top 5 were Senate races in Alaska, Nevada, and West Virginia, each the focus of four stories.

The Democrats’ strategy to salvage the 2010 campaign was to distract voters from their record over the past two years and paint their opponents as wacky extremists. Win or lose, the Democrats got a lot of help from their friends in the supposedly objective “news” media. (MRC)

And mind you, many on the left have called Obama “timid”.  Now that’s scary!!

“Over and over again, we have moved forward an agenda that is making a difference in people’s lives each and every day,” Obama said on Comedy Central last night.

Delusion or something far more darkly Orwellian? You Decide.

“My hope is that those people are rewarded for taking those tough votes,” Obama said. “If they are, then I think Democrats will do fine on Election Day.”

I got my “reward” right here, Herr Obama… <<Censored>>

So I ask you to walk with me, and march with me, and join your voice with mine, and together we will sing the song that tears down the walls that divide us, and lift up an America that is truly indivisible, with liberty, and justice, for all.–Candidate Obama January 2008.

The Twilight Zone or Just an Orwellian Nightmare.

You Decide Next Tuesday,Nov. 2

But don’t expect the Mainstream Media to be  happy afterwards. 🙂

Political Cartoon by Mike Lester

Quintessential Partisan

More of David Limbaugh (Daily Caller): President Obama is the quintessential partisan, for sure, but he doesn’t reserve his vitriol for Republican politicians. He’ll turn on anyone who stands in his way, and he’ll make it personal through bullying, ridicule, and demonizing. Obama believes he can use his presidential bully pulpit to say whatever he wants about anyone or any group, whether foreign leaders, bankers, or tea party protesters.

Consistent with his narcissistic proclivities, Obama is angrily intolerant of his critics. He dismissed President Bush’s rare criticism by snapping, “We won.” Likewise, he lashed out at Senator John McCain for objecting to his stance on Iran, declaring, “Only I’m the president of the United States . . . and I’ll carry out my responsibilities the way I think is appropriate”—completely ignoring the substance of McCain’s criticism.

This is a hallmark of Obama’s governing style: he takes things personally and keeps score. He exudes a sense of entitlement about his agenda, expecting legislators to vote as he commands, as opposed to, say, their consciences or the wishes of their constituents.

For Obama, it’s more than just a matter of political power. There’s also his egotistical sense that he is absolutely right about everything, that everyone else is wrong, and that if given enough time, he can persuade the rest of the rubes of the superiority of his positions.

It has been my experience, online and in the media (say MSDNC), that the more Progressive Left they are they more that condescending snottiness and absolute Right of God comes out. The more left they are the more they are The Insufferably Superior Left. And thus, they are utterly incapable of being wrong and even if you can prove it, they will just attack you like a rabid raptor.

In their heads there is no such thing as them being wrong. EVER!

An easy test: Ask one of these nuts when will it not be George Bush’s fault?

Get out a wetsuit because the dripping condescending snottiness  and Bush Derangement Syndrome will flow like the flood of the century!

And don’t expect the Mainstream Media, The Ministry of Truth, to be there to protect you they are ideological now and they’re not news reporters. And they are in favor of Obama’s agenda and so they are going to disregard the kind of things he does and will make you (or Bush) the cause not him.

They still love him. Some on the far-far left are mad, it’s true, but that’s because he’s not been to far left ENOUGH  for their tastes!

He didn’t get the Public Option. He didn’t get Cap & Trade in full. He hasn’t redistributed the wealth enough for them. He hasn’t crushed Wall Street and the “rich” enough for them.

Yes, they are that radically out of touch with reality.

We’ve seen how he attributed the public’s repudiation of his agenda via the Massachusetts Senate election to his failure to sufficiently explain his healthcare position—though he had talked ad nauseam on the issue. But it was true of other issues as well—even strong moral issues for which there would never be a consensus, as with his attempt to confront pro-life forces at Notre Dame.

He took the same tack with the issue of homosexuality. At a White House celebration of Gay Pride Month—a controversial act in itself—Obama said he aspired to persuade all Americans to accept homosexuality—as if the issue were simply about “accepting homosexuals,” and that anyone opposing special legal classifications for homosexuality was prejudiced, discriminatory, and as Obama claimed, possessed of “worn arguments and old attitudes.” He added, “There are good and decent people in this country who don’t yet fully embrace their gay brothers and sisters—not yet.”

As a candidate, Obama usually told voters what he thought they wanted to hear. He told an audience in Las Vegas he wanted to help “not just the folks who own casinos but the folks who are serving in casinos.” But after becoming president he wasn’t quite as solicitous. In one of his many anti-capitalist riffs he took a cheap shot at CEOs at a townhall meeting in Elkhart, Indiana, in February 2009. “You can’t take a trip to Las Vegas or down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers’ dime.” Obama’s careless statement elicited a strong reaction from Las Vegas businessmen, many pointing out that if their business suffers, the first and hardest hit are the front line workers—the people at the front desk, the bell staff, and the taxi drivers, precisely the people Obama courted during the campaign.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported that more than 400 conventions and business meetings scheduled in the city had been canceled, translating into 111,800 guests and more than 250,000 “room nights,” costing the city’s economy more than $100 million, apart from lost gaming revenue.

And despite British Petroleum’s assurances that it was “absolutely” responsible for the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Obama unleashed on BP a non-stop barrage of verbal abuse. Using language not usually heard from a U.S. president, he told NBC’s Today Show that he consults experts about the spill to find out “whose ass to kick.”

Even Obama’s supporters recognized he was resorting to sheer intimidation. As Democratic strategist James Carville noted, “It looks as if President Obama applied a little old-school Chicago persuasion to the oil executives.” But American presidents, of course, are not supposed to resort to this kind of outright thuggery to get their way. As Conn Carroll remarked on the Heritage Foundation’s blog, “Making ‘offers you can’t refuse’ may be a great way to run the mob, but it is no way to run a country.”

And the President oh-so-political Oil Drilling Moratorium (even now that the leak has been plugged it continues) has cost 10’s of thousands of jobs and continues to hurt the Gulf States, especially Louisiana.

But he doesn’t care. He has the backing of his environmentalist apparatchiks. So what does he care about jobs lost in a recession due directly to his meddling. It’s not his fault!

He’s scoring points for his agenda.

And leaving other apparatchiks to do the job for him also, Like the EPA and there declaration that “that carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels poses a threat to human health and welfare, a designation that set the federal government on the path toward regulating of emissions from power plants, factories, automobiles and other major sources.” (see also: https://indyfromaz.wordpress.com/2009/12/08/stop-breathing-save-the-planet/) statement and now apparently Connecticut’s attorney general and Democratic nominee for the Senate, Richard Blumenthal, is working to get courts to declare “cap and trade” regulations the law of the land.

Blumenthal’s suit, Connecticut v. American Electric Power, is the most prominent of a handful of “climate change” lawsuits filed by environmental activists, state attorneys general and trial lawyers. These suits threaten to impose a steep tax on the American economy, with no input from our national elected representatives.

In 2004, Connecticut, along with seven other states, New York City and three environmental groups, filed suit against five companies responsible for “approximately one-quarter of the U.S. electric power sector’s carbon dioxide emissions.”

Their lawsuit sought to hold the companies “jointly and severally liable for contributing to an ongoing public nuisance, global warming” and asked the court to force each company “to abate its contribution to the nuisance by capping its emissions of carbon dioxide and then reducing those emissions by a specified percentage each year.”(IBD)

So Congress doesn’t have the stomach to do it, the Progressives will just use their judicial apparatchiks to force it down your throat!!

The Bully that never gives up.

Based on his behavior as president, it is clear he truly believes his own hype. He behaves and governs as though he has been sheltered all his life, or at least since he was a young adult, living in a bizarre bubble, hearing only positive reinforcement and made to believe in his own supernatural powers. This is a major reason he cannot bear opposition; this is a major reason he is not, in the end, a man of the people and deferential to their will, but a top-down autocrat determined to permanently change America and its place in the world despite intense resistance from the American people themselves.

David Limbaugh:  This is a guy who’s taken over private companies. This is a guy who — contravening the rule of law — allocates and pledges $140 billion to the IMF when Congress specifically said you cannot do that without our authority.

And he said — with an Orwellian argument, I can — this is foreign policy, I can divert $140 billion to the IMF for wealth redistribution in third world countries. Nothing to do with what the IMF was originally been set up for.

He can go after Gerald Walpin who is an IG for AmeriCorps because he uncovered fraud on the part of Obama’s friends and so he fires him without notice in total contravention of the rule of law there.

It’s a means to an end for him. He appoints judges who will rewrite the law. He will circumvent Congress when it comes to environmental policy by having his EPA declare carbon dioxide a toxic pollutant.

He will go out and thwart the secured creditors’ legal rights under the law — their rights under the law and favor the unions who are unsecured creditors, give them 50 percent on the dollar. Give the secured creditors 20 percent and then slam and slander the lawyer and slander them as speculators when they’re just trying to enforce their own rights under the law. (FOX)

“I’d rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president,” Obama told ABC’s “World News” anchor Diane Sawyer last year.

And in his mind, and The Ministry of Truth, he is really good. Look at all the “legislative victories” he’s had!!

So what if 60+% of the people hate them. He won! That’s all that matters.

Like he cares.  As long as he’s right and the Ministry of Truth tell him he’s right and cover up any gaffes or “misquotes” he’s perfectly fine with doing whatever he wants.

After all, as he told Sen. McCain during the Health Care roundtable, He won the election! Get over it 😦

But there’s also the fact that he’s tone-deaf. In addition to not caring what we think, he’s also tone-deaf because he has no clue after he passed – – he crammed Obamacare through he says, I’m going to continue to fight for the American people.

Oh, you are? So 24 percent of the people support what you’re doing and you’re fighting for us? How oblivious.

And how many times has he said that he will focus on jobs, then a shiny object like Health Care or Oil or some other Liberal fantasy distracts him and he just wanders off on vacation…

We either go full blown toward socialism, Marxism, Statism or we turn back and restore our founding principles. This upcoming election in November will tell the tale.

Freedom matters.

The Reverse Trojan Maneuver

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

While campaigning in Nevada Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told an audience of mostly Hispanic voters: “I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?”

No, please, Harry, just shut up!  For your own good.

******************************************************************
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man spearheading the Ground Zero Mosque initiative, is about to take a month-long trip through the Middle East sponsored by the U.S. government.

No wonder Mayor Bloomberg and the Democrats don’t want to do anything about a mosque 600ft from Ground Zero!

He’s already an apparatchik and we know how this administration treats it’s apparatchiks.

So you have radical Iman who believe American was complicit in 9/11 and wants Sharia law compliance and does not think Hamas is a terrorist organization (even though in there charter it says multiple time “Kill all the Jews”. Look it up sometime) and that dialogue amongst religions is a wast of time  and is a key figure in the Malaysia-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, which helped sponsor the six-ship flotilla that tried to break Israel’s blockade of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.

So I guess this fall under if you’re going to bed down with a nest of vipers, better to have your own viper. But this one wants to bite you in the ass too! 😦

“He is a distinguished Muslim cleric,” said State Department Spokesman P.J. Crowley. “We do have a program whereby, through our Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau here at the State Department, we send people from Muslim communities here in this country around the world to help people overseas understand our society and the role of religion within our society.”

So to explain how the role of religion works in America you send a radical Muslim cleric who believes in compliance with Sharia law??

Didn’t they just get the memo about the most radical Muslims, the Taliban, killing aid workers for the mere crime of being Christians?

Send a Wolf in Wolf’s clothing to do the Sheep’s Job?

So is Obama trying to say that we can embrace a radical who would destroy us, so that shows our tolerance, please like us and don’t kill us infidels?

Probably, it sounds like liberal logic. My head hurts.

“It is to foster greater understanding and outreach around the world, among… Muslim- majority communities,” said Crowley. “We’ve done this many, many times, with many leading figures… over the past few years.”

But know we know why they lack of outrage, except from the American people on the Ground Zero Mosque. It’s probably a part of this whole deal, a pay off.

And besides, if the normal unwashed peasant masses are against it, that must mean the Political Elites are in on it “for our own good”. 🙂

While there’s no shortage of potentially eloquent ambassadors who could convey to the world the majority sentiment in America, the best man for the job is probably Greg Gutfeld, whose proposal to build a Muslim-friendly gay bar consider[ing] the sensibilities” of one’s neighbors next to the Ground Zero mosque is doing wonders to foster a dialogue about ” (Weekly Standard)

How about a Women’s Center next to that. And Christian Church across the Street (more on that later). Maybe even a Tea Party office too.  🙂

We’re all neighbors after all, and can get along, right… 🙂

Next up:  Sending The American Taliban, John Walker Lind to be Ambassador to Afghanistan.

Gitmo Detainees as ambassadors to the Middle East.

The Son of the pilot of the Enola Gay that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima as Ambassador to Japan.

An anti-Semite Democrat (there are sooo many) be Ambassador to Israel.

It all makes perfect sense doesn’t it! 😦

It’s a Reverse Trojan Horse, when the Trojans let the Greeks built the Horse INSIDE Troy and then act surprised when the soldiers jump out of it and attack them in the middle of the night!

Now that demonstrates our tolerance doesn’t it!  Never look a Gift Horse, even a Trojan one, in the Mouth. 🙂

Like the fabled Trojan Horse, the Cordoba Mosque is touted as an offering of friendship and a chance for us to show our tolerance. But its march toward construction has been marked with deceit, fraud and double standards.

Before Islamofascists turned passenger jets into cruise missiles and toppled the World Trade Center, mosques and Islamic cultural centers dotted America. Not a single Christian church exists in Saudi Arabia. We’ve shown our tolerance. We do not need to show our naivete.

As the New York Post has discovered, one of the parcels the mosque is to be built on is owned by Con Edison, even though Soho Properties told officials and the public it owned all the land. Soho only leases the property. Con Edison mysteriously kept quiet all this time, perhaps at the urging of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, for whom the mosque is a high priority.

It’s certainly a higher priority than St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which used to be right across the street from the WTC until it was crushed when Tower 2 and its incinerated inhabitants came crashing down on it.

Plans to rebuild St. Nicholas two blocks from its original location fell apart when Port Authority officials objected to its 24,000-square-foot footprint with a traditional grand dome that they said could not rise higher than the planned WTC memorial. Yet no objection was raised to a 13-story mosque on which no height restrictions were placed.

It’s not as if there are no Islamic centers of worship in New York City. The Islamic Society-Mid-Manhattan is located on 55th Street. There’s the Islamic Cultural Center of New York on Third Avenue and the Assafa Islamic Center on Allen Street in lower Manhattan.

Incredibly, the Landmarks Commission denied landmark status to one of the buildings on the site, the Burlington Coat Factory building, into which crashed the landing gear from one of the 9/11 planes. Will the mosque have a plaque marking the spot? We doubt it.

Inside, the mosque won’t be Greek soldiers to lay waste to Troy, but Shariah law and its advocates to wage war on a Western civilization they despise. Mosques have served as recruiting and even training centers for terrorism.

Germany has wisely closed Hamburg’s Taiba mosque, once frequented by some of the Sept. 11 attackers. It was searched by police and shut down because German authorities believed it was again being used as a meeting point for Islamist radicals. Mohamed Atta, as well as fellow 9/11 murderers Marwan Al-Shehhi and Ziad Jarrah, had studied in Hamburg and frequented the mosque.

Neda Bolourchi, a Muslim whose mother died when the plane she was in slammed into the WTC’s north tower, wrote in the Washington Post that “a mosque near ground zero will not move this conversation forward.” But “over time, it will cultivate a fundamentalist version of the Muslim faith,” a version that cultivated 9/11.

Canadian Muslims Raheel Raza and Tarek Fatah, who sit on the board of the Muslim Canadian Congress, wrote in the Ottawa Citizen of Aug. 7: “We Muslims know that the idea behind the ground zero mosque is meant to be a deliberate provocation to thumb our noses at the infidel.” Or a 13-story middle finger.

Build the memorial, not the mosque. And about that Christian church in Saudi Arabia. (IBD)

Is that a pig flying by my window? 🙂

What is “Poor”??

Congressman Pete Stark at a Town hall: “the government can do pretty much anything…”

Gee, I wonder if Washington, Madison  & Jefferson would have agreed? 🙂

It’s racism time again:

The politically charged decisions by veteran Democratic Reps. Charles Rangel of New York and Maxine Waters of California to force public trials by the House ethics committee are raising questions about race and whether black lawmakers face more scrutiny over allegations of ethical or criminal wrongdoing than their white colleagues.(Politico)

I guess what Speaker Pelosi should have said back in 2006 was that they’d “Drain the White Swamp” 🙂

You can only be corrupt if you’re a cracker!!

But don’t worry, you have the first post-racial, unifying President! 🙂

TO BE POOR By Walter E. Williams

Imagine you are an unborn spirit whom God has condemned to a life of poverty but has permitted to choose the nation in which to live. I’m betting that most any such condemned unborn spirit would choose the United States. Why? What has historically been defined as poverty, nationally or internationally, no longer exists in the U.S. Let’s look at it.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the 2009 poverty guideline was $22,000 for an urban four-person family. In 2009, having income less than that, 15 percent or 40 million Americans were classified as poor, but there’s something unique about those “poor” people not seen anywhere else in the world. Robert Rector, researcher at the Heritage Foundation, presents data collected from several government sources in a report titled “How Poor Are America’s Poor? Examining the ‘Plague’ of Poverty in America” (8/27/2007):

Forty-three percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage and a porch or patio.

Eighty percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, in 1970, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.

Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded; two-thirds have more than two rooms per person.

The typical poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens and other cities throughout Europe. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.)

Nearly three-quarters of poor households own a car; 31 percent own two or more cars.

Ninety-seven percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions.

Seventy-eight percent have a VCR or DVD player; 62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception.

Eighty-nine percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and a more than a third have an automatic dishwasher.

What’s defined as poverty is misleading in another way. Official poverty measures count just family’s cash income. It ignores additional sources of support such as the earned-income tax credit, which is a cash rebate to low-income workers; it ignores Medicaid, housing allowances, food stamps and other federal and local government subsidies to the poor. According to a report by American Enterprise Institute scholar Nicholas Eberstadt, titled “Poor Statistics,” “In 2006, according to the annual Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure Survey, reported purchases by the poorest fifth of American households were more than twice as high as reported incomes.” That additional money might represent earnings from unreported employment, illegal activities and unreported financial assistance. A proper measure of well-being is what a person consumes rather than his income. A huge gap has emerged between income and consumption at lower income levels.

Material poverty can be measured relatively or absolutely. An absolute measure would consist of some minimum quantity of goods and services deemed adequate for a baseline level of survival. Achieving that level means that poverty has been eliminated. However, if poverty is defined as, say, the lowest one-fifth of the income distribution, it is impossible to eliminate poverty. Everyone’s income could double, triple and quadruple, but there will always be the lowest one-fifth.

Yesterday’s material poverty is all but gone. In all too many cases, it has been replaced by a more debilitating kind of poverty — behavioral poverty or poverty of the spirit. This kind of poverty refers to conduct and values that prevent the development of healthy families, work ethic and self-sufficiency. The absence of these values virtually guarantees pathological lifestyles that include: drug and alcohol addiction, crime, violence, incarceration, illegitimacy, single-parent households, dependency and erosion of work ethic. Poverty of the spirit is a direct result of the perverse incentives created by some of our efforts to address material poverty.

As of December 2009: The Poorest Nation on Earth

1.      Democratic Republic of Congo

Once known as the Belgian Congo, Zaire, and now the Democratic Republic, this huge resource
rich nation holds the position of poorest country in the World.

It has been embroiled in wars, civil and with other nations, since Independence in 1960.

During the past two decades of conflict, over 5.4 million people have died and continue to die
at the rate of 45,000 a month. This is not only attributable to war, but its fellow travelers,
disease and famine.

DR-Congo has diamonds, uranium, cobalt, tantalum, copper, and other valuable minerals. The wars, besides being caused by ethnic hatred, are inspired by control of the nation’s wealth.

The smuggling of coltan and cassiterite, the ores of tantalum and tin have fueled the war
in the Eastern Congo.

As a kleptocracy, whatever can be appropriated by the government and its agents,  be it
food aid, donations for health care, equipment; is.

Despite having more resources than most places in the world, two thirds of the population
is malnourished.
Hunger has provoked a market in ‘bushmeat’, that is, the meat of wild animals,
often chimpanzees and gorillas.

See any similarities to Obama and Company. Especially, the kleptocracy part.

But are we them?

No, but we could be.

Class Warfare, Racial Wars and a government out to steal anything and everything it can for itself and it’s apparatchiks?

Maybe not as far away as we’d like to think. 😦

Mom, Can I Grow up to be Bureaucrat?

The following chart makes that case. Since the beginning of the recession (roughly January 2008), some 7.9 million jobs were lost in the private sector while 590,000 jobs were gained in the public one.  And since the passage of the stimulus bill (February 2009), over 2.6 million private jobs were lost, but the government workforce grew by 400,000.

image002

Plus, as you know, according to the latest numbers from Bureau of Economic Analysis, the average federal civilian worker now earns double what private-sector workers earn when factoring in wages and benefits ($119,982 vs. $59,909). And the gap is increasing.  According to Chris Edwards of the Cato Institute, in 2000, the average federal worker earned 66 percent more in total compensation than the average private-sector worker. By 2008, that ratio had risen to 100 percent. That’s serious money.

Peter Orszag, the soon to be leaving OMB director, has  explained the differences in pay by saying that public employees have more diplomas (probably implying that they are smarter) than private employees:

But the truth is that a comparison of federal and private-sector pay, even by occupation, is misleading because the employees hired by the federal government often have higher levels of education than their counterparts in the private sector — even within the same occupations.  When you factor in the education and experience of the federal workforce, there is no statistically significant difference in average pay levels.

Translation: We are better than you.

Edwards, however, shows this is nonsense. He writes:

Some people argue that the federal government has a unique high-end workforce, which deserves to be paid handsomely. But let’s consider some ordinary and mundane offices in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In 2010, the USDA’s Office of Communications employed 77 people and paid $9 million in wages and benefits. That works out to $117,000 each for these public relations workers, which is close to the overall federal compensation average. Or consider that the 62 employees of the USDA’s Office of Chief Economist earned an average $177,000 each in wages and benefits in 2010. It isn’t just rocket scientists that are earning high federal compensation, it is also workers in many run-of-the-mill bureaucratic jobs.

More importantly, the federal workforce has always had a heavy contingent of skilled professionals such as lawyers. So that is not new, and thus it cannot explain the dramatically faster growth in federal compensation compared to private compensation […].

Besides, if these diplomas are what gave is the health care reform, the financial bill making its way to Congress and the stimulus, then I would argue that we would be better off if  high-school dropouts to run Congress.

That being said, if bureaucrats have job security, their workforce grows during recession, and they make increasingly more money, being a proud public sector employee should become your little ones’ dream. In this context, wanting to be a fireman or a princess is so yesterday. (Big Government)

So, government apparatchiks (“agent of the apparatus”) are prospering.

Unions get bail outs, exemptions from taxes you’ll be paying, and special deals. Because they are part of the base of the party.

Union Pensions are bankrupting companies and states everywhere. So what. Big Deal.

The Hispanics are being pandered because they are also the base of the party. So Obama’s campaign speech last week on Illegal Immigration was for them, not you.

So if you’re a party appartchik or a wanna-be apparatchik, you’re In like Flint.

But government gets it’s money from taxes.

Only 50% of people even pay taxes.

But hey, if you’re unemployed, the government will pay you to be unemployed and dependent on them.

Persistent unemployment nationwide is threatening to inhibit consumer spending. The latest figures from the government on Friday underscored the depth of the problem, with the economy adding only 83,000 private sector jobs.

There was no relief in sight from Washington, either. Congress left on recess Friday having failed to pass legislation that would have extended unemployment benefits for hundreds of thousands of Americans.

On the small-business side, credit concerns are keeping some companies from spending. And on the consumer side, while spending and confidence numbers continue to be weak, personal income has risen for three months straight and savings rates are relatively high. That suggests people now have cash but are just sitting on it.

So they’ll just print more money. Who cares.

It’s not like they want the private sector to create jobs, not really.

Obama has been “focused on jobs” for 18 months now. And you can smell the rotting corpse of neglect and contempt from here.

But “he cares”… 🙂

When Obama could have passed comprehensive immigration reform – when he still had 60 Senate Democrats – he didn’t lift a finger to push it. Now that he can’t pass it – it is too late in the year, he doesn’t have 60 votes, and many Democrats will defect – he aggressively pushes it in a national speech.

The opportunism and hypocrisy of his attempt to manipulate America’s Latinos into forgetting his previous inaction is transparent and obvious. Polls show him losing Hispanics due to high and continuing unemployment and losing Congressional seats in the bargain, so Obama has dug up the immigration proposals of former President George W. Bush, dusted them off, and made them his own. He knows it won’t pass. But he hopes that it will reignite Latino enthusiasm for his failing presidency and anger at Republicans for frustrating immigration reform.(Dick Morris)

It was just the latest in cynical political ploys.

Pure Politics. No actual conviction.

So the bottom line is, guess what is likely to be one of  the next great “bubble” to burst.

You got it, Government Apparatchiks and their dependents.

And guess who’s going to bail them out! 🙂

Now that’s “Hope and Change” for ya…

The Fight For 41

Today decides the nation.

Socialism or Not.

The election in Massachusetts will decide who gets the seat of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy.

The Republican wins, they have 41 seats. Enough to stop the Democrats by filibuster.

Which means the Democrats will Lie, Cheat, Steal, and say anything to preserve it.

Morality today, at least from the Democrats has the day off.

And if the Republican, Scott Brown, wins as previous noted the Democrats will try to cram Health Care down before he is sworn in by hook or by Crook.

As this Headline on the Liberal blog site  Salon.com illustrates:

Pelosi: “We will have healthcare — one way or another”

“Let’s remove all doubt, we will have healthcare one way or another,” Pelosi said during an event in San Francisco on Monday. “Certainly the dynamic would change depending on what happens in Massachusetts. Just the question about how we would proceed. But it doesn’t mean we won’t have a health care bill.”

There is one way to pass the bill, even without 60 votes in the Senate, that’s getting a lot of attention now. But Pelosi probably won’t like it, and neither will a fair amount of her members.

The procedure in question would involve simply having the House vote on the bill that the Senate has already passed. That would mean avoiding yet another cloture vote in the Senate, one Democrats would be likely to lose if their caucus is down to 59 members after the special election in Massachusetts on Tuesday.

House liberals will be upset about this idea, and progressive activists would likely be angry as well, but it may well be the only option left, and Democrats are reportedly leaning towards it. On Monday night, the New York Times reported: “The White House and Democratic Congressional leaders, scrambling for a backup plan to rescue their health care legislation if Republicans win the special election in Massachusetts on Tuesday, are preparing to ask House Democrats to approve the Senate version of the bill, which would send the measure directly to President Obama for his signature.”

Remember when this was alledgedly for the good of the American people?

I never thought so. But remember when that was what was said?

Apparently, neither did they.

Democrats are mobilized by the prospect of conceding a Senate seat in a state where they control all 10 House seats. President Barack Obama stumped for Coakley in a trip to Boston Sunday. He also cut a new television ad, while his grassroots organizing group says it placed 93,000 (robo)calls across the state on Jan. 16 alone.

“In some ways, Republicans have already won,” said Jennifer Duffy, the Senate analyst for the nonpartisan Cook Political Report in Washington. “Nobody ever imagined a special election in Massachusetts for Ted Kennedy’s seat would ever get remotely competitive.”

Research “strongly suggests” that Brown, 50, will defeat Coakley, 56, the Washington-based nonpartisan Rothenberg Political Report said. That outcome or even a narrow Coakley win could discourage House or Senate Democrats in competitive districts and states from running in this November’s elections amid a sagging economy and declining poll numbers for Obama.(salon.com)

Democrats could try a strong-arm tactic, such as rushing to hold a final Senate vote before Brown is sworn in, knowing it would ignite a ferocious public outcry.

If Brown wins, health care’s fate will turn on the Democrats’ answer to a wrenching question: Which is worse, enduring such a firestorm of criticism at the start of an election year, or admitting defeat on their top agenda item despite controlling the House, Senate and White House?

“I think Democrats fully understand they have to pass this legislation,” said Ron Pollack, head of the Families USA advocacy group. “The alternative is an absolute disaster.”

“Put the corn where the hogs can get it,” (Former President Bill Clinton on “educating the public to the benefits of the Congress’ plan) Clinton said, using a colorful phrase for making something clear and accessible, according to an aide who took notes at the speech. (Washington Post)

Anyone for Revenge of The Hogs? 🙂

If he wins, and I pray he does, the Democrats might actually discover who the American People are again.

And won’t that be a shock to their little minds.

Obama warned that much of his agenda in Congress, specifically his health-care overhaul and proposed fee on big banks, hinges on retaining Kennedy’s former seat.

“We’ve begun to deliver on the change you voted for,” Obama told a crowd of about 1,500 people Jan. 17 at Northeastern University in Boston.

This would be massive spending, pork & bribes, special deals for apparatchiks, no emphasis on job creation, and a year-long super-duper hyper-partisan fight over control of who lives and who dies that has been nastier than any fight since The Civil War.

The Government Mandating by law you must have insurance or potentially go to Jail.

And the massive taxes to come with it.

Yeah, that’s what people voted for. 😦

So let’s all pray for the Brown Miracle.

We Need “Hope & Change!”

“Yes We Can!” 🙂

Entitlement follows Need

In the 1960s there was a perception that some elderly were not receiving adequate health care. To meet this need, Congress passed Medicare. The same concern was voiced about the poor. To meet their need, Congress passed Medicaid.

The same concern was voiced about those too destitute (or too irresponsible) to buy health insurance, and in the ’80s Congress passed the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, forcing emergency rooms to treat anyone who needed medical attention, regardless of their ability to pay.

Can you say Illegal Immigrants. 🙂

The same concern was voiced about parents who were too well off for Medicare, but who nevertheless couldn’t meet their children’s health care needs, and in the late ’90s Congress passed the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.

The message is clear: If you have a need, you are entitled to have it fulfilled at others’ expense.

The reason we continue to move toward socialized medicine is that everyone — including the opponents of socialized medicine — grants its basic moral premise: that need generates an entitlement.

So long as that principle goes unchallenged, government intervention in medicine will continue growing, as each new pressure group asserts its need and lobbies for its entitlement, until finally the government takes responsibility for fulfilling everyone’s medical needs by socializing the health care system outright.

Some believe you can stop this process midstream: The government will intervene only to help those in dire circumstances while otherwise leaving people responsible for their own health care. But that’s an illusion. If need entitles one to the wealth and effort of others, then there is no logical reason why the government should restrict help to some small subset of the “needy,” and refuse to help the rest.

The only way to effectively oppose socialized health care is to reject the morality of need in favor of a genuinely American alternative. According to the American ideal, men are not their brother’s keeper — we are independent individuals with inalienable rights to support our own lives and happiness by our own efforts.

That means taking responsibility for your own medical needs, just as you take responsibility for your grocery shopping and car payments. It means no one can claim that his need entitles him to your time, effort, or wealth.

Where is the willingness to defend this ideal by saying, “Your health care is your responsibility — and if you truly cannot afford the care you need, then you must ask for private charity — not pick your neighbor’s pocket to pay for it”?

But if forcing some Americans to provide unearned health care for others is noble, then is it any wonder that America keeps moving toward socialized medicine? Is it any wonder that, while Republicans loudly oppose Democratic attempts to expand government control over health care, they do not challenge the endless need-based interventions that already exist — and instead push for their own need-based programs (such as Bush’s prescription drug entitlement)?

Those who truly want to fight against socialized medicine in America must realize that it’s time to drop the morality of need and proudly say: I am not my brother’s health care provider. (IBD)

But you will be called heartless, mean-spirited, cruel, greedy, and any number of other personal attacks.

I know.

I have been called all of those who advocating the very same thing.

Personal responsibility.

Such an evil thing.

And only a Sith Lord would propose that people are responsible for even their bad choices. Or the hard choices.

Well Tough.

Life isn’t fair.

Get over it.

I don’t work for the benefit of others. I work to keep me going. So that I responsible for my own success and my own failure.

But I’m just a “cruel”, “heartless”, “kick a cute puppy”, “steal candy from a baby” “right wing extremist scrooge” because I don’t want to share my non-wealth with those who have even less.

No wonder we’ll all end up poor and destitute.

But we’ll be equal.

To warp a Douglas Adams line, “everyone will be poor and no one will be rich, at least no one you can talk about”

The  Apparatchiks. It’s a Russian colloquial term for a full-time, professional functionary of the Communist Party or government; i.e., an agent of the governmental or party “apparat” (apparatus) that held any position of bureaucratic or political responsibility, with the exception of the higher ranks of management.

All those government bureaucrats. They will be well cared for.

And so will the Politicians and their lobbyist feeders.

The machine will be fine.

It’s all the cogs that will be ground under them.

But at least we won’t be mean heartless and cruel.

They will.

Those protectors of our rights and freedoms.

The ones we gave up to them.

Because we didn’t want the responsibility.

We didn’t want to fail.

We didn’t want to see others who had failed.

So if we all fail, and we’re all equal. that’s ok then.

So one will be there to coddle us.

When what we need is someone there to be  motivate us to higher goals. To look up not down.

Like Rocky, you knock us down we get back up.

Not like Roberto Duran, wimpering “No Mas”.

But, what do I know, I’m just mean, cruel and heartless. 🙂
