Scary Math

Another Comparison for Liberal who love Statistics:

Occupy Wall Street / other arrests now exceed 2,500

occupy-wall-streetAccording to the run total of Occupy Wall Street / wherever else they occupy, the arrest total is now up to 2,511. This means the Occupy “movement” is now ahead of the Tea Party 2,511 to 0. The Occupy Wall Street “arrest” counter bot continues to brag about all the arrests. They tweet gleefully that with all the arrests in Oakland and other places, a total of 185 were arrested as of earlier today: Today’s #occupyarrests total sitting at 185, with a running total of 2511 arrests #occupyoakland #occupywallst #StandWithOakland #ows

4 Rapes and Over 2.4 Million Dollars of taxpayer money (and god knows how much food cost).

Tea party: 0 arrests since 2009. No riots. No Cost. And many members of Congress.

They are soooo alike it’s scary… 🙂

More Poor Math From Liberal Socialists:

In his attempt to build support for his American Jobs Act, Barack Obama  held a fundraiser. He’d have been better off attending a math class first. Obama pushed the Senate’s “millionaire surtax” proposal to pay for a portion of the costs, and tried to impress people with just how little this would cost the rich:

Obama touted a provision of his jobs proposal that would give states money to retain teachers, firefighters and police, funded by a surtax on annual earnings above $1 million. Someone making $1.1 million a year would pay “an extra $500 — 500 bucks,” he told the well-heeled crowd, which laughed.

First, the surtax was not part of Obama’s proposal; that came from Harry Reid, and it replaced tax hikes that were too onerous for even Democrats to swallow.  But the real problem with Obama’s claim is that it literally doesn’t add up.  The surtax applies a 5.6% tax on all income over a million dollars in a year.  On $1,100,000 of income, the surtax would get applied to the $100,000 as Obama says — but 5.6% of $100,000 is not $500.  It’s $5,600, which is eleven times more than Obama claimed.

Apparently Obama can’t do math, which is hardly surprising given the outcome of his economic policies.  The “well-heeled crowd” of Democrats seem to have the same problem.  (h/t: HA reader Robert C)

Americas Bills About to Exceed Its Paycheck
Adding today’s [treasuries auction] $35 billion to yesterday’s $35 billion in Two year bonds, brings total US debt to $15.010 trillion, with GDP still at $15.013 trillion (granted this number may be revised tomorrow), resulting in a debt to GDP ratio of 99.99%. Tomorrow’s historical $29 billion in 7 Year bonds will take America into that uncharted territory of triple digit debt to GDP. But yes, the formal settlement of all bonds will not occur until Halloween, so we can celebrate on several days America’s historic transition one step closer to insolvency.
Tomorrow’s historical $29 billion in 7 Year bonds will take America into that uncharted territory of triple digit debt to GDP.

Americas bills are about to exceed its paycheck.

The CHART OF THE DAY shows U.S. government debt divided among every man, woman and child will exceed per-capita gross domestic product this year for the first time in International Monetary Fund records dating back to 1980.

The amount owed will reach $46,771 per person, surpassing the $46,750 in output, according to Bloomberg calculations using the IMFs deficit and growth projections from its September World Economic Outlook. Debt will exceed production by $8,000 per person by 2016, reversing GDPs $18,400 advantage as recently as 2007, before the worlds largest economy fell into the recession and government spending surged.

Its a milestone in an unsustainable trend, said Robert Bixby, executive director of the Concord Coalition, an Arlington, Virginia-based group that calls for a balanced budget. Whats alarming is there is no end in sight.

The U.S. government last week posted its third consecutive annual budget deficit in excess of $1 trillion for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30. A congressional committee has been tasked with finding $1.5 trillion in savings over the next decade under the terms of an August agreement to raise the federal debt ceiling.

And the Senate hasn’t passed a Budget in over 900 days!! (The House passed one 6 months ago- and was quick demagogued into liberal hell- Harry Reid’s desk!)

It just doesnt seem like the political system or the public really has come to the point where they are ready to make some basic compromises, Bixby said. People lament the debt, but so far we have no realistic strategies for dealing with it.(bloomberg)

Put simply: As of Today we have exceeding in spending what we take in and produce!

Obama’s solution: SPEND EVEN MORE!

But since it’s Bush’s fault! The Republicans! The Rich! The Tea Party!

No Worries.

The Cost

Reform: Remember when Nancy Pelosi promised that Americans would fall in love with ObamaCare once it was the law of the land? Turns out barely half of Democrats now like it.

The Kaiser Family Foundation has tracked public support for ObamaCare since the law was passed. It’s never been very popular, but now support has hit a new low of 34% due in part to erosion in Obama’s own party. The month ObamaCare passed, more than three of four Democrats approved of it. Now, just over half do, and only one in five has a “very favorable” view. Even worse, just 27% of Democrats think the law will make them and their families better off.

But how can this be, loyalists ask, when ObamaCare is already helping people? Just ask any “adult child” on his parents’ health plan, or all those small businesses benefiting from the insurance premium tax credit?

But as each month brings new Obama-Care failures, fewer Democrats seem to be buying such baloney.

Thanks to “reform,” for example, insurance premiums shot up 9.5% this year, reversing a decade-long trend toward lower annual increases. Just a few days ago, the White House was forced to abandon the law’s long-term care insurance provision because it was financially unworkable. And it’s had to pass out more than 1,500 waivers to prevent millions from losing coverage. The temporary “high risk” pools meant to help those with pre-existing conditions are a bust.

And we haven’t even mentioned the pernicious and wildly unpopular centerpiece of ObamaCare — the mandate that everyone buy insurance or else. This is scheduled to start in 26 months, unless the Supreme Court finds it unconstitutional.

Every Republican presidential candidate has called for repealing this mess before it can do any more damage. Repeal will never happen, though, as long as Obama sits in the White House. And should the GOP fail to win the next election, by 2017 it will be all but impossible to unscramble the ObamaCare egg.

Fortunately, the more the public understands the stakes involved, the more likely Obama will be safely back in Chicago in 2013, while a Republican president happily flushes ObamaCare down the drain.

When President Obama announced changes to rules on repaying college student loans, he said his goal was to ease the financial burden of getting a degree.

“We’ve made it a priority to make college more affordable, reduce your student loan debt,” he told students in Denver, unveiling his plans to make it easier for college graduates to get out from under their debt obligations.

But if the history of college financial aid (and other government attempts to protect consumers from costs) is any guide, Obama’s plan will likely backfire.

Over the past three decades, financial aid has rocketed up 438% after inflation, says the College Board. That’s largely due to huge hikes in more than a dozen federal grant and loan programs.

“By providing aid and subsidized loans, the government is trying to protect students, but the effect is perverse,” said Jane Shaw, president of the John W. Pope Center for Higher Education Policy in Raleigh, N.C. “They increase demand and enable colleges to hike tuitions virtually without restraint.”

An increase in the average student loan of $1 was associated with net tuition that’s 93 cents higher at public schools and 55 cents higher at private schools, according to Andrew Gillen of the Center for College Affordability and Productivity.

A 2007 study by University of Oregon economists concluded that colleges “tend to absorb most federal student aid by increasing their tuition revenue,” according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.

That doesn’t necessarily mean students are getting a better education. From 1993 to 2007, per-student spending on administration climbed twice as fast as spending on instruction, a Goldwater Institute study found.

The same phenomenon has occurred in health care, where government for decades has worked to shield consumers from direct costs, fueling health care cost inflation by encouraging demand and giving doctors and hospitals greater license to raise prices.

Today, the government pays directly for over 44% of care, according to data compiled by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

And federal tax policy encourages generous employer-provided insurance by deducting premium costs from taxable income, a $100 billion-plus annual subsidy, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation. The 2,156 state benefit mandates further insulate consumers from the direct costs.

Consumers now pay just 12% of the nation’s health care tab out of pocket vs. nearly half in 1960, fueling much of the nation’s health care inflationary spiral.

“Providers aren’t competing for business based on price,” said John Goodman, president of the Dallas-based National Center for Policy Analysis. “And if they’re not competing on price, they have no reason to lower cost.”

And education and health care fixes almost always add to these existing subsidies, providing still more inflationary fuel.

ObamaCare will further cut out-of-pocket spending by expanding insurance coverage and requiring more generous benefits.

When it comes to college education, the last three presidents all passed huge increases in aid, with each boasting that theirs was the biggest investment in college “since the G.I. Bill.”

Shaw said, “Government will keep doing what it’s doing until there’s a broad understanding by the public of the adverse effects produced by these attempts to shield consumers from costs.”(IBD)

So keep ripping the band-aid off slowly and it will hurt longer. But at least, that way the Democrats can mile the blame someone else for it longer. Now that’s a up-side! 🙂

While speaking at Virginia Democratic Senate Caucus fundraiser today, former President Bill Clinton claimed that no successful country on earth operates on the notion that government is the problem. He then listed a variety of things that the government “provides” for the people, including affordable healthcare, economic opportunity, education opportunity and “getting to the future.”

Considering test scores have decreased significantly since the Department of Education was founded, healthcare premiums have skyrocketed with the passing of ObamaCare and the economy isn’t growing because of smothering government regulation, I’d say Clinton is a bit off the  mark on this one. (Katie Pavlich).

Now say it with me y’all: IT”S THE REPUBLICAN’s FAULT! IT’s THE “RICH”‘s Fault! IT’s THE TEA PARTY’s FAULT!

Ta Da! Problem solved! 🙂

Scary: Occupiers

Blaming Capitalism Small Mug

MSNBC: On Martin Bashir’s television program this afternoon, Democratic strategist and MSNBC analyst Karen Finney said that Republicans are supporting Herman Cain because of his race:”One of the things about Herman Cain is, I think that he makes that white Republican base of the party feel okay, feel like they are not racist because they can like this guy,” Finney said. “I think he giving that base a free pass. And I think they like him because they think he’s a black man who knows his place. I know that’s harsh, but that’s how it sure seems to me.”

“Thank you for spelling that out,” Bashir responded.

This isn’t the first time liberals have made this kind of charge about Cain and his supporters. During an online production of NBC’s Meet the Press this week, Democratic congressman Elijah Cummings of Maryland said white voters support Cain to show they aren’t racist. “I think when [members of the Tea Party] can vote for a Herman Cain and hear him say the things that he says they feel like, ‘Well, you know, I can, I support this guy and…so it shows that I’m not racist and I’m supportive,'” Cummings told host David Gregory.

Liberal comedienne Janeane Garafalo told Current TV host Keith Olbermann earlier this month that Cain is popular with Republicans because it “hides the racist element” of the party.

So you’re a racist if you don’t vote for Obama. But you’re a racist in hiding if you want to vote for Herman Cain!

Liberals are so race obsessed.

More Comedy: Pelosi Defends Obamacare Waivers To 1,800 Firms:

“They’re small. I couldn’t speak to all 1,800 of them, but some of the lists that I have seen have been very, very small companies. They will not have a big impact on the economy of our country,” Nancy Pelosi said in an interview with CNBC.

One of the very first ones was to McDonalds!!! They are a “small business” and the evil purveyors of fat and salt to kids (like drug dealers some liberals have eluded to).

So yet again, Orwell was right. 🙂

Now onto the Main Attraction. This one is more Local. Occupy Phoenix.

Welcome to Occupy Phoenix, the latest violent embarrassment to American society. This group of occupiers is asking, “When should you shoot a cop?” Pamphlets asking this question and laying out justifications for doing so were left at the Occupy Wall Street location in Phoenix, Arizona and found by a Maricopa County Sheriff Deputy.

When Should You Shoot A Cop?

That question, even without an answer, makes most “law-abiding taxpayers” go into knee-jerk conniptions. The indoctrinated masses all race to see who can be first, and loudest to proclaim that it is NEVER okay to forcibly resist “law enforcement.” In doing so, they also inadvertently demonstrate why so much of human history has been plagued by tyranny and oppression.
In an ideal world, cops would do nothing except protect people from thieves and attackers, in which case shooting a cop would never be justified. In the real world, however, far more injustice, violence, torture, theft, and outright murder has been committed IN THE NAME of “law enforcement,” than has been committed in spite of it. To get a little perspective, try watching a documentary or two about some of the atrocities committed by the regimes of Stalin, or Lenin, or Chaiman Mao, or Hitler, or Pol Pot, or any number of other tyrants in history. Pause the film when the jackboots are about to herd innocent people into cattle cars, or gun them down as they stand on the edge of a ditch, and THEN ask yourself the question, “When should you shoot a cop?” Keep in mind, the evils of those regimes were committed in the name of “law enforcement.” And as much as the statement may make people cringe, the history of the human race would have been a lot LESS gruesome if there had been a lot MORE “cop-killers” around to deal with the state mercenaries of those regimes.
People don’t mind when you point out the tyranny that has happened in other countries, but most have a hard time viewing their OWN “country”, their OWN “government”, and their OWN “law enforcers”, in any sort of objective way. Having been trained to feel a blind loyalty to the ruling class of the particular piece of dirt they live on (a.k.a. “patriotism”), and having been trained to believe that obedience is a virtue, the idea of forcibly resisting “law enforcement” is simply unthinkable to many. Literally, they can’t even THINK about it. And humanity has suffered horribly because of it. It is a testament to the effectiveness of authoritarian indoctrination that literally billions of people throughout history have begged and screamed and cried in the face of authoritarian injustice and oppression, but only a tiny fraction have ever lifted a finger to actually try to STOP it.
Even when people can recognize tyranny and oppression, they still usually talk about “working within the system”-the same system that is responsible for the tyranny and oppression. People want to believe that “the system” will, sooner or later, provide justice. The last thing they want to consider is that they should “illegally” resist-that if they want to achieve justice, they must become “criminals” and “terrorists,” which is what anyone who resists “legal” justice is automatically labeled. But history shows all too well that those who fight for freedom and justice almost always do so “illegally” – i.e., without the permission of the ruling class.
If politician think that they have the right to impose any “law” they want, and cops have the attitude that, as long as it’s called “law”, they will enforce it, what is there to prevent complete tyranny? Not the consciences of the “law-makers” or their hired thugs, obviously.    And not any election or petition to the politicians.    When tyrants define what counts as “law”, then by definition it is up to the “law-breakers” to combat tyranny.
Pick any example of abuse of power, whether it is the fascist “war on drugs,” the police thuggery that has become so common, the random stops and searches now routinely carried out in the name of “security” (e.g., at airports, “border checkpoints” that aren’t even at the border, “sobriety checkpoints,” and so on), or anything else. Now ask yourself the uncomfortable question: If it’s wrong for cops to do these things, doesn’t that imply that the people have a right to RESIST such actions? Of course, state mercenaries don’t take kindly to being resisted, even non-violently. If you question their right to detain you, interrogate you, search you, invade your home, and so on, you are very likely to be tasered, physically assaulted, kidnapped, put in a cage, or shot. If a cop decides to treat you like livestock, whether he does it “legally” or not, you will usually have only two options: submit, or kill the cop. You can’t resist a cop “just a little” and get away with it. He will always call in more of his fellow gang members, until you are subdued or dead.

Basic logic dictates that you either have an obligation to LET “law enforcers” have their way with you, or you have the right to STOP them from doing so, which will almost always require killing them. (Politely asking fascists to not be fascists has a very poor track record.) Consider the recent Indiana Supreme Court ruling, which declared that if a cop tries to ILLEGALLY enter your home, it’s against the law for you to do anything to stop him. Aside from the patent absurdity of it, since it amounts to giving thugs with badges PERMISSION to “break the law,” and makes it a CRIME for you to defend yourself against a CRIMINAL (if he has a badge), consider the logical ramifications of that attitude.

That’s right folks, according to the OWS crowd, changing society “almost always requires” killing law enforcement officers.  Law enforcement officers in the Grand Canyon state have been placed on high alert and the Arizona Counter-Terrorism Information Center has published a safety memo in response to the threats of unapologetic cop killing.

Copies of an “informational” letter were left on a table for protestors to pick up and read during the “Occupy Phoenix” event at Cesar Chavez Park. The presence of the letter was reported to the ACTIC by a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputy who had responded to an unrelated call and was alerted to it by another deputy working the event. This letter is blatantly anti-government and anti-law enforcement in nature. It not only condones but even encourages citizens to kill any “government agent” (i.e. law enforcement agent officer), who in their perception violates their rights.

Photobucket

Now, why would the Arizona Counter-Terrorism Information Center be concerned about Occupy Phoenix? Perhaps because the tactics layed out in the informational cop killing letter can be classified as acts of domestic terrorism. Let’s not forget about the “riot gear” box full of rocks and bricks that was found at Occupy Minneapolis, either.

Considering radical domestic terrorist Bill Ayers recently gave a speech to Occupy Chicago full of tips about “revolution” (remember, revolution to Ayers is bombing the Pentagon, police headquarters, etc.), terrorist factions within OWS aren’t surprising. Also, considering Ayers launched Barack Obama’s political career, Obama’s sympathy for the OWS movement is also not surprising.

”I don’t regret setting bombs,” Bill Ayers said. ”I feel we didn’t do enough.” Mr. Ayers, who spent the 1970’s as a fugitive in the Weather Underground, was sitting in the kitchen of his big turn-of-the-19th-century stone house in the Hyde Park district of Chicago.

FLASHBACK: Remember when Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano warned about “domestic right-wing terrorism” right around the same time the Tea Party Movement started? Implying tea party activists were engaged in terrorist activity for demanding fiscal responsibility?  With evidence showing some at Occupy Phoenix support and encourage cop killing, where is she now?

She dodging questions about “Fast and Furious” fast and furiously. She’s looking for dangerous Terrorists in Tennesee and installing wi-fi street cams to watch over you.

A Girl has to have her priorities.

Oh, the Irony…

I had to laugh when I saw this caption on an Occupy rally: The volunteers serving free food to all who attend the protest rally are upset with the large number of homeless and criminals who are there only for handouts.

ROTFL!

Gee, doesn’t the “spread the wealth” crowd know that there are people less well off than they are and they should share THEIR wealth with those less fortunate?

I could laugh about this until the end of time. The irony is so delicious.

The revolution will be fed, but the food may soon be cut back and might not be as tasty.

It looks like the grub served to the Wall Street Occupiers will go from gourmet to gruel tomorrow in an effort to shoo away “professional homeless” people who have been feasting on the Occupiers’ donated dimes.

That’s right. The freeloading Occupiers are angry at all the random freeloading going on down in Zuccotti Park. 🙂

The grub down at Zuccotti has been written up in the past for exceeding expectations with its quality and variety.

Some out-of-work chefs have joined the ranks of the Occupiers, which clearly kicked the cuisine up a notch. But the OWS kitchen staff has had enough of feeding the homeless and random hangers-on.

“We need to limit the amount of food we’re putting out to curb the influx of derelicts,” a kitchen volunteer told the New York Post. Another volunteer said the cooks felt “overworked and under-appreciated” and worked 16-hour days.

ROTFL.

It’s almost like the young Marxists want to be compensated for their labor! 🙂

They have been given $500,000 in donations. They could hire some Chefs and start their own kitchen… 🙂 (Yes, that was capitalist irony).

They want everyone else above them to give them everything and to work harder and longer to give them their free stuff, but when the truly needy- the homeless, who don’t have tents and wi-fi, I-phones, laptops and gourmet food being given to them come around they are “derelicts” to look down upon and shooed away like annoying flies!

So much for “spread the wealth around”. Just don’t spread THEIR wealth around!!

Too funny…

Starting Friday (today), Zuccotti’s own top chefs will switch out their organic chicken, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet salads for brown rice gruel.

The plan is to change  the menu for three days and hope that the “criminals and vagrants disperse.” At that point, the Occupiers may starting whipping up their artisan treats again. If the unwanted false-Occupiers don’t leave, it may be nothing but tasteless porridge and brown rice for the foreseeable future.

But since the story hit the papers, the Occupiers have denied that there plan is to “starve out vagrants.” Instead, the cooks claim they just need a few days to rest and get organized.

Either way, don’t head down to Zuccoti Park anytime soon for the cuisine.

So if you’re Homeless don’t panhandle at the Marxist “Share The Wealth” Occupiers they will shut you down!

Taking their cue from the likes of Cloward & Piven, New York’s hungry homeless — the 99%, if you will — should unite against the 1% of protesters who have good food and refuse to share.  It’s all about the social justice: By trying to collapse the system from the bottom-up and setting OWS’ kitchen elitists against the common (homeless) man, their tactics would make Saul Alinksy proud.

Collapse the kitchen!
Eat the elitist cooks!
The well-fed college students are the 1%!

Once the OWS kitchen system collapses, Michelle Obama can send in the food police to confiscate all the junk food and Kathleen Sebelius’ Department of Health and Human Services can pass out food stamp applications.

Then we can have an Occupy The Occupiers of Wall Street! 🙂

Next Up: OccupierCare!

Revolt against the first aid tent — they’re nothing but non-participating providers who refuse to treat preexisting conditions. Every must pay into it or else! 🙂

And how do you tell who’s homeless and who’s an occupier?

Profiling!?? 🙂

I am laughing so hard…

The cost of the Occupy movement demonstrations…

In San Francisco, the bill is more than $100,000.

Across the country, the figures are growing. In New York City, overtime costs are $3.4 million. In Minneapolis, the sheriff’s department reports spending $200,000. And in Boston, the tally is $2 million and counting.

And in Phoenix, the cost so far is estimated at $204,000.

So it’s not Free to freeload. But just don’t freeload on the freeloaders! 🙂

Now something that is not funny, but is what you should expect from government bureaucrats, especially The TSA.

In the latest scandal to rock the perpetually inept Transportation Security Administration (TSA), a loaded gun slipped through “security” at a major U.S. airport and the agency claims there was no system breakdown because it was not its duty to intercept the weapon.

TSA officials claim they are not required to screen for loaded weapons in checked luggage and an agency spokesman played if off as an “issue” for someone else to deal with. Here is the direct quote from the TSA official published in the paper’s follow-up story on the incident:  “It may be an issue for some agency or the airline, but it’s not a TSA issue. Our mandate is to screen baggage for explosives.”  (LA Times)

Mind you, on the TSA website it says you can’t have a loaded gun.

Janet strikes again.

BUT…They should be Watching YOU!

New street lights that include “Homeland Security” applications including speaker systems, motion sensors and video surveillance are now being rolled out with the aid of government funding.

The Intellistreets system comprises of a wireless digital infrastructure that allows street lights to be controlled remotely by means of a ubiquitous wi-fi link and a miniature computer housed inside each street light, allowing for “security, energy management, data harvesting and digital media,” according to the Illuminating Concepts web site.

In terms of Homeland Security applications, each of the light poles contains a speaker system that can be used to broadcast emergency alerts, as well as a display that transmits “security levels” (presumably a similar system to the DHS’ much maligned color-coded terror alert designation), in addition to showing instructions by way of its LED video screen.

The lights also include proximity sensors that can record both pedestrian and road traffic. The video display and speaker system will also be used to transmit Minority Report-style advertising, as well as Amber Alerts and other “civic announcements”.

With the aid of grant money from the federal government, the company is about to launch the first concept installation of the system in the city of Farmington Hills, Michigan.

So-called ‘talking surveillance cameras’ that use a speaker system similar to the Intellistreets model are already being used in UK cities like Middlesborough to bark orders and reprimand people for dropping litter and other minor offenses. According to reports, one of the most common phrases used to shame people into obeying instructions is to broadcast the message, “We are watching you.”

Oh the Irony…

Teachable Moment

More words of wisdom and encouragement in these dark times from our Dear Leader: “We have lost our ambition, our imagination, and our willingness to do the things that built the Golden Gate Bridge,” President Obama said at a fundraiser in San Francisco on Tuesday.

Strauss (the chief engineer of the Golden Gate) spent more than a decade drumming up support in Northern California. The bridge faced opposition, including litigation, from many sources. The Department of War was concerned that the bridge would interfere with ship traffic; the navy feared that a ship collision or sabotage to the bridge could block the entrance to one of its main harbors. Unions demanded guarantees that local workers would be favored for construction jobs. Southern Pacific Railroad, one of the most powerful business interests in California, opposed the bridge as competition to its ferry fleet and filed a lawsuit against the project, leading to a mass boycott of the ferry service.

Sound vaguely familiar… 🙂

Finance

The Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District, authorized by an act of the California Legislature, was incorporated in 1928 as the official entity to design, construct, and finance the Golden Gate Bridge. However, after the Wall Street Crash of 1929, the District was unable to raise the construction funds, so it lobbied for a $30 million bond measure (in 2011 that would be $530 Billion). The bonds were approved in November 1930, by votes in the counties affected by the bridge. The construction budget at the time of approval was $27 million. However, the District was unable to sell the bonds until 1932, when Amadeo Giannini, the founder of San Francisco–based Bank of America, agreed on behalf of his bank to buy the entire issue in order to help the local economy.

Oh no! Not an evil rich banker!!! 🙂

Now that’s a Teachable moment. Bet our Dear Leader doesn’t even slightly care.

You are incompetent and can’t do anything without him or his big government machine.

In keeping with his new campaign theme of “we can’t wait,” President Obama today will roll out a plan to put more money in the pockets of some of the nation’s 36 million student loan recipients.

He has to bribe them into voting for him this time around. Bribe them with taxpayer money that is. Of course, it’s easy for him to do it since the government took over the loan process back in 2009.

But Obama is now seeking to use that new power to obtain a taxpayer-financed stimulus that Congress won’t approve. The idea is to cap student loan repayment rates at 10 percent of a debtor’s income that goes above the poverty line, and then limiting the life of a loan to 20 years.

Take this example: If Suzy Creamcheese gets into George Washington University and borrows from the government the requisite $212,000 to obtain an undergraduate degree, her repayment schedule will be based on what she earns. If Suzy opts to heed the president’s call for public service (and not be an evil “rich” person like him), and takes a job as a city social worker earning $25,000, her payments would be limited to $1,411 a year after the $10,890 of poverty-level income is subtracted from her total exposure.

Twenty years at that rate would have taxpayers recoup only $28,220 of their $212,000 loan to Suzy.

Sounds like time for Whattsamatta U. instead 🙂
More sound economics and personal responsibility from our Dear Leader.  I guess the “rich” will have to be taxed even more to make up for the losses.
As in the housing bubble, cheap credit on easy terms increases the amount of money chasing the product (in this case a diploma) allowing schools to increase prices (everyone should go to Ivy League schools even if you can’t afford it- sounds familiar somehow? :)). This inflation makes it harder for middle-class families to afford paying their own tuitions, driving them into the government financing program, which, you guessed it, drives up costs further still.

And is controlled by: The Federal Government!! 🙂
The best part for Obama is that he can obligate the Treasury without Congressional approval thanks to the passage of what he described as a cost-saving measure in 2009. (FOX)

TA-DA!

Krauthammer: “It’s entirely incoherent,” Charles Krauthammer said of Obama’s plan to pay down student loans. “I’m not sure if those savings are real, where are they? What he spoke about today was tweaking the student loan program, which he now controls. In a way, it’s rather astonishing. The numbers were run by an economics correspondent today in The Atlantic magazine. And It turns out what he is offering the students is between $4.50 and $7.70 a month of relief.”

Now these are students that he addressed today and spoke about their carrying an average of $25,000 in loans. So what he’s saying is ‘I’m going to save you, I’m going to give you a quarter of a part of it back a month. This is keeping with all of the promises he has been making in the last campaign tour in which he promised relief to homeowners in a program which has already failed. And now he is doing it on student loans. If his audience had known how minuscule is the benefit, he would have been laughed out of that auditorium.

If at first you don’t succeed, do it exactly the same again! and fail, fail again!

Economics for Idiots

Vice President Joe Biden said yesterday on CNN that nobody can say “that the stimulus did not create jobs,” but he did not specify how many jobs he believes President Barack Obama’s stimulus created and how much each of those jobs cost.

According to the most recent report on the stimulus by the Congressional Budget Office, the law had created a maximum of 2 million jobs as the fourth quarter of 2011 at a cost of $412,500 per job.

It took them nearly 3 years to figure this out. I guess the government is great at creating jobs and predicting economics. 🙂

On CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, host Candy Crowley asked Biden about the skepticism of those who point out “we did almost $1 trillion ins stimulus spending” and the administration said “unemployment won’t gove above 8 percent,” and yet we have not had the results the administration forecast. (Solyndra and Fisker included??)

“The problem was in the beginning, the economists said that in fact we wouldn’t go above 8 percent, because they didn’t know until this last quarter that the economy shrunk in the last term of the Bush administration almost 9 percent,” said Biden.

Yep, their bad economic forecasts and their even worse “solutions” are Bush’s fault, not the “economists” that said we had to pass the Stimulus or else (and that whole 8% thing that was pure guessing)

“Everybody thought it was more like 5.5 percent.

And you know what they say about assuming. It makes an ass out of u and me. But we get stuck with check for their guessing. But it’s still Bush’s fault for their guessing being wrong.

And so the point was, we were all operating off of what the blue chips were looking at, and the numbers were wrong. But the fact is, if we hadn’t had that stimulus, we would be in a position now where we would be in a double dip recession some time ago.”

Instead of the recession we’ve had for nearly 3 years now and the “double dip” we already have!! A Trillion dollars of waste and 3 years later!!

And now Obama wants ANOTHER Stimulus!! and if you don’t pass it you’re a just a “rich” loving mean old fart. So he’ll just pass parts of it by executive fiat instead!

If you don’t succeed (or fail spectacularly) fail, fail again!

It shows how well Government does when it inserts itself into the economic to “create” anything other than chaos and misery.

Taking the high-end number of 2 million jobs and dividing it by the $825 billion cost of the stimulus yields a cost of $412,500 per job. (mind you virtually all these jobs are government union employees).

So given that sterling example, it should only take another $2,475,000,000,000 for the other 6 million jobs lost since 2007 but most of these are private sector jobs in the hands of evil greedy corporations. 🙂 (who cares about the $15,000,000,000,000 debt, anti-business regulations and ObamaCare!)

Damn those rich people are going to have pay up Big! 🙂

And government is very good at “creating” jobs”.

At a million-dollar  (no 1%ers there!) San Francisco fundraiser today, President Obama warned his recession-battered supporters that if he loses the 2012 election it could herald a new, painful era of self-reliance in America.

“The one thing that we absolutely know for sure is that if we don’t work even harder than we did in 2008, then we’re going to have a government that tells the American people, ‘you are on your own,’” Obama told a crowd of 200 donors over lunch at the W Hotel.

“If you get sick, you’re on your own. If you can’t afford college, you’re on your own. If you don’t like that some corporation is polluting your air or the air that your child breathes, then you’re on your own,” he said. “That’s not the America I believe in. It’s not the America you believe in.”

Hope and Change! 🙂

Yeah, government controlling everything is what you believe in. After all, government is infinitely better at running your life than you are.

You’re hopeless! So re-elect me or else you’re screwed! You’re incompetent!

“I guarantee it’s going to be a close election [in 2012] because the economy is not where it wants to be (Notice how impersonal that is phrased) and, even though I believe all the choices we’ve made have been the right ones, we’re still going through difficult circumstances,” the president said.

Doh!

Remember, Liberals are never wrong. Ever. And the economy is nowhere near where it wants (was the “it” government, free enterprise, or evil rich corporations??) to be and I and I alone can save you because your hopeless and if you don’t re-elect me the hungry capitalist raptors will eat you!!

Vote for me or Else!

NARCISSISM UPDATE

The State Department has bought more than $70,000 worth of books authored by President Obama, sending out copies as Christmas gratuities and stocking “key libraries” around the world with “Dreams from My Father” more than a decade after its release.

The U.S. Embassy in Egypt , for instance, spent $28,636 in August 2009 for copies of Mr. Obama’s best-selling 1995 memoir. Six weeks earlier, the embassy  had placed another order for the same book for more than $9,000, federal purchasing records show.

That’s taxpayer money paying for book sales for Obama who will get a royalty for it as the author!

About the same time, halfway around the world, the U.S. Embassy in South Korea  had the same idea and spent more than $6,000 for copies of “Dreams from My Father.”

One month later, the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta , Indonesia , spent more than $3,800 for hardcover copies of the Indonesian version of Mr. Obama ’s “The Audacity of Hope,” records show.

A review of the expenditures in a federal database did not reveal any examples of State Department  purchases of books by former Presidents George W. Bush or Bill Clinton.

Michael Moore is an Academy Award Winning Millionaire who went from a low-pay local rag in Flint, Michigan to millionaire but he’s not “rich” (aka ” the 1%”) but when asked about it, he dodges it like any good politician asked a question you know they will never answer honestly.

The inquiry came from Twitter, where one user asked why Moore appeared so disgusted by capitalism despite benefiting greatly from capitalism. “I’m here talking against my own interests– what’s wrong with me?” he joked, but didn’t really answer the question, other than to claim that “for a documentary filmmaker, I do very well.” When Morgan pushed him to explain how “very well” did not translate to elite levels of wealth, he merely said he felt “blessed,” given his high school education level, and claimed that “they made a huge mistake, putting me on TV.”

Moore continued to bash the wealthy, distancing himself from “a system that is unfair to working people” and concluding of the people that funded his first film, “I hope they rue the day.” He did not give any numbers to explain how his lifestyle did not conform with theirs.

He’s capitalism in action. Problem is, he’s an anti-capitalism millionaire capitalist!

After all, he is suing for money from the producers of “Fahrenheit 911”. He claims he was cheated out of at least $2.7 million in profits from his hit documentary.

“discovered substantial irregularities in the accounting” that resulted in a “gross underpayment to [Moore],” the lawsuit says.

But he’s not a greedy capitalist millionaire!! 🙂

In the NBC appearance, Obama also professed to be paying little attention to the long series of fiery debates among Republican contenders vying for the chance to take him on in next year’s presidential election.

“I’m going to wait until everybody is voted off the island,” he quipped in a reference to the “Survivor” reality show.

“Once they narrow it down to one or two, I’ll start paying attention.”

Oh, the rapier wit…

Meanwhile, I have $38,500 per person fundraiser to attend riding on my Canadian Made Uber Bus passing out class warfare and fear, despair and hopelessness.

“We’ve made great progress,” Obama added, “but we’ve got so much more work to do. Obviously in Washington, the politics that I think people are hoping for is not what they’re getting. It’s still dysfunctional. It’s still perversely partisan.’’

The Democrat said that as if it was someone else’s fault.

But don’t worry, be happy. It could have been worse! 🙂

Under the Banner Day

Sidebar: U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, interrupted an interview with a reporter Saturday in Charleston to speak with two elementary-school age children that she quickly labeled “little Democrats.”

“We are leaving no stone unturned,” she said once she returned to the interview. (evil maniacal laughter in her head no doubt)

Yeah, that would be why they are illiterate but can grow up to “occupy wall street”. 🙂

Meanwhile, “middle class” Warrior Obama is soaking up $5,000 a plate dinner and $38,500 autographs.

It’s good to be the King.

Under the “Politics are just strange and Obama’s are stranger” category:

While plugging her new book, “Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible,” the feisty TV chef took a pot shot at Michelle for gorging herself on greasy french fries, fatty hot chicken wings and sugary deep-fried Snickers bars!

“Michelle’s spitting mad,” a source told The ENQUIRER.

“She thinks Paula is trying to smear her and her family just as the 2012 presidential election race swings into gear.”

The trouble first began before Barack Obama was even elected president in 2008, when Michelle made a guest appearance on Deen’s popular “Paula’s Party” show and revealed that fried shrimp was her family’s favorite meal.

Then in an interview after filming the program, Paula quipped that Michelle would be serving high-fat, greasy and sugary foods in the White House if Obama won the election!

Now Paula is rehashing those attacks on Michelle in an attempt to plug her latest cookbook and offset Michelle’s new book about eating healthy, noted the source.

“She’s no different than the rest of us,” Paula said about Michelle in a new interview.

Paula added: “She probably ate more than any other guest I ever had on the show! She kept eating even during commercials. Know what (the Obamas’) favorite foods are? Hot wings. Y’know – those kinds of foods that aren’t necessarily top-of-the-list healthy foods.”

“Michelle now deeply regrets ever being on Paula’s show,” added the source. “There are a lot of digs she would have been able to brush off, but portraying her as a high-calorie gorger during her crusade for healthy eating is crossing the line.”(Enquirer)

The Empress has no clothes! An Obama with an over-developed since of their own sanctimony to the human race as a whole. Never… 🙂

Under “never saw this at a Tea Party rally” Because you didn’t:

Dallas Police continue to investigate whether a teenage runaway was sexually assaulted by an adult male at the Occupy Dallas encampment behind City Hall.

A source within the Dallas Police Department who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation said the girl ran away from home in Garland last month and that she is now refusing to cooperate with investigators. She initially told officers that she had sex with a man in his early twenties and had engaged in sexual activity with several other people.

Some members of the group told CBS 11 the girl identified herself as a 19-year-old and never knew she was 14.

But don’t worry, to the Left and the Leftist media OWS and the Tea party are the same, except that Tea partiers are violent, angry white racists. (if you noticed the contradiction there look up Doublethink sometime-it’s a leftist favourite)

And once the weather turns cold and nasty, especially in the North, will the OWSers go back to their parent’s basements or will the Left adopt them and build them little Hoovervilles?  We’ll see.

The media would like the imagery. I guess the left could fund them. (Think about that for moment, then laugh cynically).

An anti-capitalist group which sparked the Occupy Wall Street movement has called for global protests Saturday to demand that leaders of the Group of 20 (G20) nations impose a “Robin Hood tax” on financial transactions and currency trades.Canada-based Adbusters wants the Occupy Wall Street protest movement against economic inequality to take to the streets to call for a 1 percent tax on such deals ahead of a Nov. 3-4 summit of the G20 leading economies in France.“Let’s send them a clear message: We want you to slow down some of that $1.3 trillion easy money that’s sloshing around the global casino each day—enough cash to fund every social program and environmental initiative in the world,” the activist group said on its website.

So OWS in the US was started by Canadians. Gee, the Democrats can’t even create no-job jobs!:)

The Double Standard and Naked Partisanship revealed (not that the Left or Leftist Media will care):

While the New York Times was hypersensitive to any signs of racial prejudice among the massive, peaceful Tea Party protests, reporter Joseph Berger raised and dismissed the idea of anti-Semitism at Occupy Wall Street, in Saturday’s “Cries of Anti-Semitism, But Not at Zuccotti Park.”

Just two of many references: Reporter David Herszenhorn assumed racism was a force in the movement in an April  1, 2010 podcast: “One is clearly there’s a racial component. Some members of Congress you know, had epithets hurled at them as protesters marched around the Capitol on the day of the big House vote.” Those claims have never been substantiated. On July 18, 2010 Matt Bai reported about fictional “hateful 25-year-olds” at Tea Party rallies.

By contrast, reporter Berger played strong defense for OWS against the anti-Semitism allegations.

Among the hodgepodge of signs that have sprouted in Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan, one man in jeans and a baseball cap has been carrying placards that shout their suggestions: “Google: Jewish Billionaires” and “Google: Zionists control Wall St.”

Gee, during the Tea Party Media heyday 1 guy from the SEIU who would show up with a racist sign would draw 100% of the media’s attention. That one person was totally indicative of the movement.

The guy who got beat up BY an SEIU guy at a rally in St. Louis wasn’t.

Fascinating…

At the same time, among the sea of tarps under which protesters have been sleeping, a sukkah, a makeshift hut, was erected to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.

While Berger’s story was accompanied by three positive photos of Jews at OWS, it didn’t have room for the widely available shot of the “Google Jewish Billionaires” sign (above).

The Occupy Wall Street protests, now in their second month, have increasingly been criticized by a variety of groups, most of them politically conservative, for flashes of anti-Semitism. Among those calling attention to the issue have been the Republican National Committee, Rush Limbaugh and the columnist William Kristol.

But the protests have also, on occasion, had a distinctly Jewish flavor: The encampment has coincided with the busy Jewish holiday season and has witnessed, in its midst or on its edges, a crowded Kol Nidre service on Yom Kippur, festive dancing with a scroll on Simchat Torah on Thursday night, and the sukkah.

The protesters, clustered together in a kind of ad hoc Athenian democracy in the canyons of Lower Manhattan, firmly deny that their demonstrations against corporate greed and the political power of banks exhibit antagonism that singles out Jews.

“You’re going to get a few wackos,” said Aaron Moses Miller, 25, a slender, unemployed man from Ridgewood, Queens, who had been in the park for 16 days. “You can’t help it in a population of this size.”

Mr. Miller, who is Jewish, said that he had not seen the man holding the anti-Semitic signs, but said: “If I had seen him, I would have said something to him. My name is Aaron Moses Miller.”

Jeff Smith, 41, part of the press team for Occupy Wall Street, assailed those who he said ascribed the views of one sign-holder to the entire movement.

But one sign of like kind at a Tea party Rally WAS indicative of the movement was it not? 🙂

That bolded sentence above is ironic, given the media’s treatment of random signs and outbursts by Tea Party protesters as emblematic of the entire movement.

But much as the Tea Party movement initially grappled with accusations of racism, Occupy Wall Street has been consistently confronted with accusations of anti-Semitism. Several conservative Web sites and television programs have shown video of the sign-holder, as well as of a woman at an allied demonstration in Los Angeles who identified herself as a public school teacher and decried “Zionist Jews who are running the big banks and the Federal Reserve.”

These conservative critics have urged President Obama and Representative Nancy Pelosi, the House Democratic leader, to retract their expressions of support for the Wall Street protests.

“Democrats were quick to single out any instances of perceived extremism among Tea Party supporters,” Sean Spicer, the communications director of the Republican National Committee, said in a statement on Tuesday. “But with Occupy Wall Street, they turn a blind eye.”

An Oct. 13 article on the Web site of Commentary, a politically conservative magazine founded by the American Jewish Committee, though no longer affiliated with it, argued that “it isn’t just a few crackpots engaging in anti-Semitism.” The article said that the “main organizer behind the movement — Adbusters editor Kalle Lasn — has a history of anti-Jewish writing.”

Berger didn’t outline the specifics of Alana Goodman’s post: “Back in 2004, he wrote a highly controversial Adbusters article entitled ‘Why Won’t Anyone Say They Are Jewish?’ which peddled some of the more feverish theories about American Jews, neoconservatism, and the Bush administration…”

Berger followed up:

Mr. Lasn did not return a message left on his Adbusters office voice mail in Vancouver, British Columbia. But Patrick Bruner, another member of the Occupy Wall Street press team, said the magazine Adbusters had helped prompt the protest movement with a call for action but otherwise had “not been active at all.” He said the Occupy Wall Street movement rejected any kind of racism or hatred, but also was “open source,” meaning that anyone could take part.

Odd, given that just last week a Times reporter credited Adbusters with launching the movement! (and they are Canadian!)

More defense: Berger then claimed that “Jewish groups that have sensitive antennas for eruptions of bigotry have not criticized the protesters,” making reference to Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League, who said there were some “manifestations in the movement of anti-Semitism, but they are not expressing or representing a larger view.” (MRC)
