Then & Now: 2 Years Later

Today is the 2nd Anniversary of the blog. So let’s look at the last 2 years.

Political Cartoons by Ken Catalino

JOBS

Unemployment: August 2009– 9.7

Current: 9.1 (August figures to be reported on Sept 2nd)

The Unemployment rate since this blog started has been over 9% except for two months (Feb & March 2011 where it hit a low at 8.8%!)

It has been over 8% since Feb 2009. So how’s that focus on Jobs going, Mr Obama?  Going to unveil yet another Class warfare/Tax and Spend plan that will fail but keep up with your rigid ideology? And when it fails, it will be someone’s fault, after all.

The president and his political allies have called for an unemployment benefit extension as a form of economic stimulus. Obama recently claimed that such an extension will “put money in people’s pockets and more customers in stores.” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed that an extension of unemployment benefits could create up to a million jobs. (Heritage)

The average worker who is unemployed has been searching for a job for 40.4 weeks, or more than nine months, according to new Labor Department figures.

That is if they don’t just give up or are underemployed.

So in 2 Years has Obamanomics “stimulated” anything besides misery?

How could this happen when Washington has thrown trillions of dollars into the pot, including the famous $787 billion in stimulus spending that was supposed to yield $1.50 in growth for every dollar spent? For a start, too much of the money went to transfer payments such as Medicaid, jobless benefits and the like that do nothing for jobs and growth. (WSJ)

The Stimulus money went to states to help pad their pensions for government unions and their budget shortfalls. These were the “saved or created” jobs. They weren’t new. They were his apparatchiks.

And that’s all that really matters in the end. 🙂

Green Jobs, you say?

Sorry they went to China were it’s cheaper… 🙂

Update: Oh Look, MORE SPENDING!

President Barack Obama will make a push for more transportation spending on Wednesday. (“Infrastructure”=Spending!)

The White House says Obama will urge Congress to pass a federal highway bill that he says will protect about 1 million jobs. (Should I laugh now or later? Bet they last just long enough to be useful to his re-election campaign…)

At issue is the renewal of a transportation spending bill that expires Sept. 30. The House is considering a six-year, $230 billion bill paid entirely with current fuel taxes. The Senate proposal would last only two years and cost $109 billion.

OBAMACARE

2 years ago we were still in the fight. It’s what got me in the fight.

2 years later, we have 10% of all companies saying they will dump their health care plans when ObamaCare is fully implemented. We have 46% of Doctors threatening to retire. We have huge raises in costs.

We have over 1700 waivers to Obama’s friends and supporters in Unions and businesses he deems necessary to him politically.

If you like your health care you can keep it, the President said then. By now you know that was a lie.

And where are the 4 Million Jobs Nancy Pelosi said would be created by ObamaCare?

And how was it going to lower the deficit again?

Ezra Klein, he of recent “the Constitution’s old, and stuff” fame, is one of the great and most persuasive cheerleaders for the belief that Republicans cannot repeal Obamacare and remain fiscally responsible since — as everybody knows! — Obamacare reduces the national debt by $100 billion over the next ten years.

March 2010: In explicit contradiction to the establishment media’s reporting over the past two days, the CBO has in fact reported that the Obamacare bill will result in an increase in the deficit spending of the United States by at least $109 billion over the next 10 years. Instead of reporting this indisputable fact, the media has been pushing the Obama and Democrat line that Obamacare will “save” $138 billion over the next 10 years in deficit spending versus present projections as if it was the gospel truth.

And what about that gleeful approval and wonderment from the masses the Obama Nannies were expecting: 2 years ago the Disapproval was 52% now it’s 61% (with independents like me its 67%)

57% favor repeal.

But, as you should know by know, the Democrats don’t care. They didn’t care then and they don’t care now. They’ve been salivating about this since Woodrow Wilson and now that they have their golden baby they will fight to the very last drop of your blood to keep it.

They don’t care what you think. And isn’t that real problem with Obama and the Democrats? 🙂

There are also many things that Americans don’t want out of health care reform: the loss of their health care plans; reductions in medical innovation; a decline in the quality of care; massive increases in federal spending and debt; the government injecting itself into the doctor-patient relationship; eventual federal rationing. (Guy Benson)

And that’s if you can find a doctor to go to, after all, many, many doctors have said if ObamaCare is fully implemented they’ll just retire. Leaving a massive shortage of doctors with 30 million new patients.

And you like you’re health care and want to keep it–Good Luck, you’ll need it!

Sounds like a good plan, doesn’t it! 🙂

But that’s what Obamacare will bring and has already in many cases.

Hope and Change, everyone, Yes He Can! 🙂

CLIMATEGATEGLOBAL WARMING

The scandal itself hadn’t broken yet but two years later the broken movement is still trying to convince you. And, Like Al Gore, recently has decided to take the Democrats tactics on board. Now, if you don’t believe in “Climate Change” you’re a racist!

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of American Adults shows that 69% say it’s at least somewhat likely that some scientists have falsified research data in order to support their own theories and beliefs, including 40% who say this is Very Likely. Twenty-two percent (22%) don’t think it’s likely some scientists have falsified global warming data, including just six percent (6%) say it’s Not At All Likely. Another 10% are undecided.

The number of adults who say it’s likely scientists have falsified data is up 10 points from December 2009 .

Now that’s progress! 🙂

2011: Experiments performed by a European nuclear research group indicate that the sun, not man, determines Earth’s temperature.

Its magnetic field acts as a gateway for cosmic rays, which play a large role in cloud formation.

Consequently, when the sun’s magnetic field allows cosmic rays to seed cloud cover, temperatures are cooler. When it restricts cloud formation by deflecting cosmic rays away from Earth, temperatures go up.

Or, as the London Telegraph’s James Delingpole delicately put it:

“It’s the sun, stupid.”

This new finding of 63 scientists from 17 European and U.S. institutes from an experiment that’s been ongoing since 2009 is, if we may paraphrase Vice President Joe Biden, a big deal. Which is exactly why the mainstream media, with so much invested in global warming hysteria, is letting last week’s announcement from CERN pass like a brief summer shower, ignoring it. (IBD)

Of course the mainstream media is going to ignore it, it doesn’t fit the propaganda and that’s all we have left with the mainstream media.

The truth doesn’t matter to Liberals. Control matters.

INFLATION

The silent killer. Been to the grocery store lately?

Looked at your insurance bill? power bill? cable bill?

And just think, Obama and The Fed want to devalue your dollar even more! It fits with their ideology.

Here’s a Fascinating Website from the Bureau of Labor Statistics: http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm

If you plug in say, $100 in today cost $94.96 in 2009 (in 2001 it would be 78.39 by the way).

So 5% inflation in your real costs in 2 years.

But don’t worry, Obama will solve it!

He’s the man with the plan. At least the latest Keynesian Tax and Spend plan that will have to be disguised as something else to hide it in plain sight and have the media push it 24/7/365 as the new shade of lipstick for this rotting pig of economics.

Watch for new Orwellian euphemisms.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

2009: The President said then that comprehensive immigration legislation, including a plan to make legal status possible for an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants, would be a priority in his first year in office. Latino voters turned out strongly for Mr. Obama in the election.

“He intends to start the debate this year,” Ms. Muñoz (deputy assistant) said.

2 years later, unable to convince anyone and not really trying all that hard, he grants  de-facto amnesty to millions by executive fiat and a Justice Department that refuses to do anything about Illegals in reality.

But the president has had two cousins arrested in this country as illegals though, so it’s not like he’s immune to the problem. 🙂

He’s too busy pandering for votes to care.

So you have a President when he doesn’t get his way tries to figure out how he can use his own power to get it done regardless of the people or the legislative process.

Dictator anyone?

P.s. The Obama administration is considering unveiling new plans next week to revive the ailing housing market and reduce foreclosures, including an effort to help troubled borrowers refinance their mortgages.

The refinancing initiative would allow certain borrowers to refinance loans that are backed by government-owned Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac or the Federal Housing Administration, the sources said.

You know, the guys who keep borrowing billions of dollars because they are so bankrupt already and are in large part part of the problem not part of the solution.

The White House has kept the specifics of the refinancing plan closely guarded as it attempts to work out the details.

Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid!

Oh, and it’s going to cost taxpayers even more money.

So MORE SPENDING.

I guess this leopard will never change his spots, but he will come up with ways to spin it so all YOU see IS spots! 🙂

The Wrong Green

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

Economic growth in the United States is expected to remain weak for several years and unemployment will likely stay above 8 percent for another three years, the head of the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday. (CBS)

President Obama plans a big jobs announcement—right after he finishes his vacation inMartha’s Vineyard.  Expect him to say that green jobs are the key to recovery — that they will generate millions of jobs and a new era of prosperity.

Oh, you’ve already heard that one?  So has everyone else.  Even The New York Times has begun to debunk Obama’s claim, headlining, “Number of Green Jobs Fails to Live Up to Promises.” Obama’s claim is getting quite old and quite expensive, but remains just as false as ever.

If Congress’ “super committee” wants to cut wasteful spending, the green jobs agenda is a great place to start.

Obama’s 2011 Labor Day announcement is likely to echo his similar jobs announcement just after Labor Day in 2010, asking for another $50 billion in spending.

His stimulus plans always include green jobs and lots of greenbacks for them. As the White House website quotes Obama, “the transition to clean energy has the potential to grow our economy and create millions of jobs — but only if we accelerate that transition.”

Green jobs are about government subsidies, cronyism, and job cannibalism. They aren’t self-sustaining because they rely on giveaways of taxpayer money and they cannibalize existing jobs.

ABC News found that 80% of the $2 billion set aside in the “stimulus” package for “green jobs” is going overseas — mostly to China.
Most of the stimulus went to government unions anyhow.
Too many green jobs and renewable energy companies can’t make it without taxpayer subsidies. Some can’t make it even with that help, such as Evergreen Solar in Massachusetts, which went bankrupt even with $40 million of help. (It was offered even more.) Evergreen Solar emerged in the last three years as the third-largest maker of solar panels in the United States.
The waste should be obvious even to die-hard liberals like Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who last week told MSNBC, “Green jobs have been about a lot of talk and not a lot has been happening on that.” (DC)
Federal and state efforts to stimulate creation of green jobs have largely failed, government records show. Two years after it was awarded $186 million in federal stimulus money to weatherize drafty homes, California has spent only a little over half that sum and has so far created the equivalent of just 538 full-time jobs in the last quarter, according to the State Department of Community Services and Development.
Wow! 😦
The Economic Development Department in California reports that $59 million in state, federal and private money dedicated to green jobs training and apprenticeship has led to only 719 job placements — the equivalent of an $82,000 subsidy for each one.
And only 35 of them are employed in a “green job”! WOW! Now that’s working!
The political left is always complaining about them — those undeserved subsidies for the hated oil companies. But when it comes to government subsidies, the renewable energy companies are king.‘Seniors are struggling. Oil companies are not struggling,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada said in May. “Yet Republicans want to keep handing billions of dollars to the oil companies and ending Medicare as we know it.”About that same time, Sen. Claire McCaskill, the Missouri Democrat, whined about taxpayers subsidizing “the five biggest, most profitable corporations in the history of the planet.”Earlier this year, President Obama, speaking words his base wants to hear, swore that Washington would no longer “continue costly tax cuts for oil companies.”

What’s missing from the Democrats’ tireless refrain is the fact that the “subsidies” the oil industry enjoys are the same legitimate, passed-by-Congress tax deductions available to all companies — even those companies the Democratic lawmakers own stock in.

Simply put, Big Oil, which pays more than $86 million in taxes each day and sends 41% of its net income to Washington, is not supported by the U.S. taxpayer.

Renewable energy companies, however, are.

The Energy Information Administration says that $14.7 billion in taxpayers’ money was handed directly to renewable energy companies last year.

Politically connected ethanol raked in $6.6 billion, bird-killing wind power $5 billion, unreliable solar $1.13 billion and energy-deficient biomass $1.1 billion.

Combined, those subsidized sources provide roughly 11% of all U.S. energy output. Not much, in other words.

Total subsidies for renewables in 2010, the first budget the Democrats had full control over since taking Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008, were $9 billion — or 186% — higher than the 2009 subsidies.

A portion of this largess was of course provided at the expense of the oil and gas industries, which paid $1 trillion in income taxes between 1998 and 2008.

Should Washington continue its fixation on propping up renewable energy companies with other people’s money, the U.S. will suffer the same bitter experiences that other countries, particularly Spain, lived through when they tried to establish a green economy.

There’s no reason to rush these sources when conventional fuels remain cheap and abundant. (IBD)

So it’s a scam. It’s liberals trying to make the market create the jobs THEY want and if it won’t SCREW everyone!

If it’s doesn’t “feel” good don’t do it! And we don’t want you to!

The Left’s subsidies are “good”, the the right’s are “bad” (even if the left actually benefits from those very same one it’s all politics after all).

And the ultimate, from Environmentalist Whacko King, Al Gore, you’re a racist if you don’t believe in his scam.

He just happens to have started and is invested heavily in the “carbon credits” scam and his dad’s Oil and Coal $$ doesn’t mean anything…

So it is about “green” jobs. But it’s the wrong Green $$$.

It’s just more of the Left’s need to control everyone and force people to do what THEY want not what actually can or will work.

So when Obama comes out soon with his 16th plan for new jobs (and his Job Competitiveness Czar Jeffrey Imelt send more jobs at GE to China) it will be a mask for more Tax (like a VAT and Class Warfare) and Spend (“Infrastructure” “Tax Reform”) and more political correct subsidies for politically correct jobs that isn’t designed to succeed except politically and “feels” good.

So why do you want 4 more years of this, exactly?

Keep on Truckin’

À few Weeks before the Obama Administration starts letting Mexican cargo trucks travel deep into the U.S., the Texas Department of Public Safety reveals that, in the last few years, trucks coming from Mexico had more than 1 million safety violations.

State Rep. Joe Pickett, D-El Paso, told the El Paso Times that the number of violations for the trucks from Mexico is in line with U.S. industry standards. He also assured that the trucks undergo inspections in Mexico and the United States.

“They are either no worse than U.S. trucks or better in some cases,” he said.

No big deal. Nothing to see here! Typical liberal tactic to diminish things that make them look bad.

This is hardly earth-shattering news since Mexican trucks have long failed to meet U.S. safety standards. That’s why they aren’t allowed to travel freely throughout the country, but rather in restricted zones within 25 miles of the southern border. Even within their limited boundary, they have created a huge risk to Americans’ safety, according to the Transportation Department Inspector General.

Regardless, the Obama Administration carved out a deal to allow Mexican trucks to travel freely on U.S. highways as part of a 17-year-old international trade pact known as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). In a few weeks Mexican trucks will be allowed to travel into the interior of the United States, even though it could endanger American lives.

Earlier this year the Obama Administration paid to upgrade outdated Mexican trucks  that hemorrhage illegal amounts of exhaust when they deliver merchandise near the border. Generous Uncle Sam stepped in for the sake of improving air quality on both sides of the border by replacing old mufflers on dozens of Mexican trucks at a cost of $1,600 each.

So we can pay to have unsafe and environmentally inferior trucks on our roads (talk about a carbon footprint! where are the environmentalist on this one? Silent…) and we can do as little as possible to have armed drug lords coming across our borders like they don’t exist and Illegal Aliens are just “migrants” they won’t prosecute even if they catch them but if you object you’re a “racist”. 🙂

And if you object to anything about Obama and the Democrats you’re an “extremist”. 🙂

And this won’t put more people at risk on the road and won’t cause a rise in insurance because of the risk. 🙂

“This president has blamed George W. Bush, the Japanese tsunami, the euro, Greece, the Arab Spring, the Republicans, the tea party and ultimately James Madison for giving us separation of powers for all his problems,” Will said on ABC’s “This Week.” ”And that does not project leadership.” (George Will)

A new Rassmussen Reports poll finds that 65% of likely voters trust their judgment on the economy over President Barack Obama’s.

ENVIRONMENTALIST CONTROL FREAK UPDATE

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – California lawmakers are considering a bill that would ban Styrofoam containers used for takeout meals.

The bill would prohibit restaurants, grocery stores and other vendors from dispensing food in expanded polystyrene containers, commonly known as Styrofoam, beginning in 2016. If signed into law, the measure would make California the first to institute a statewide ban on the containers.

Some restaurant owners are complain that could them thousands of dollars at a time when profit margins are already thin.

BJ’s Kountry Kitchen, in the heart of California’s farm country, uses about 26,000 of the 9-inch foam clamshells a year, mostly for takeout by the customers who come in for the restaurant’s popular breakfast omelets. Owner Gary Honeycutt says switching to biodegradable cartons would more than double his costs.

But it won’t cost any jobs! It will “feel” good though…

Norman Borlaug, father of the Green Revolution, put it best about the elitism of the environmental movement: “Our elites live in big cities and are far removed from the fields. Whether it’s … the head of the Sierra Club or the head of Greenpeace, they’ve never been hungry.”

Al Gore: “I remember, again going back to my early years in the South, when the Civil Rights revolution was unfolding, there were two things that really made an impression on me,” Gore said. “My generation watched Bull Connor turning the hose on civil rights demonstrators and we went, ‘Whoa! How gross and evil is that?’ My generation asked old people, ‘Explain to me again why it is okay to discriminate against people because their skin color is different?’ And when they couldn’t really answer that question with integrity, the change really started.”

Should we mention his Father was a segregationist and voted against the Civil Rights Act and Bull Connor was A DEMOCRAT? Or that Southern DEMOCRATS were the people most opposed to the Civil Rights Acts!??

You could add his father worked for Oil and Coal companies after he left Congress (some of his “rich”ness (he’s a multi-millionaire) comes from it–that and his “carbon trading” scam)

Or is that an “Inconvenient Truth” Al?  🙂

The former vice president recalled how society succeeded in marginalizing racists and said climate change skeptics must be defeated in the same manner.

So Global Warming Skeptics are “racists”. 🙂

Isn’t everyone and everything that opposes the far left? 🙂

“Secondly, back to this phrase ‘win the conversation,’” he continued. “There came a time when friends or people you work with or people you were in clubs with — you’re much younger than me so you didn’t have to go through this personally — but there came a time when racist comments would come up in the course of the conversation and in years past they were just natural. Then there came a time when people would say, ‘Hey, man why do you talk that way, I mean that is wrong. I don’t go for that so don’t talk that way around me. I just don’t believe that.’ That happened in millions of conversations and slowly the conversation was won.”

“We have to win the conversation on climate,” Gore added.

When Bogusky questioned the analogy, asking if the scientific reasoning behind climate change skeptics might throw a wrench into the good and evil comparison with racism, Gore did not back down.

“I think it’s the same where the moral component is concerned and where the facts are concerned I think it is important to get that out there, absolutely,” Gore said.

“This is an organized effort to attack the reputation of the scientific community as a whole, to attack their integrity, and to slander them with the lie that they are making up the science in order to make money,” Gore said.

Forgot ClimateGate already did we? Of course they have…and you are supposed to also.
When a farmer complained to Barack Obama two weeks ago at a townhall meeting about rumors of regulations that would force him and his colleagues to get a commercial driver’s license to operate his farm equipment, the President assured him that it was probably nothing. “Folks in Washington” like to get “ginned up” and shout “Look what’s coming down the pipe,” Obama explained, and offered this advice to the farmer: “Contact USDA.” “Talk to them directly. Find out what it is that you’re concerned about,” Obama told the man. “My suspicion is, a lot of times, they’re going to be able to answer your questions and it will turn out that some of your fears are unfounded.”

Call Uncle Sam. Sensible advice, but perhaps the president has forgotten just how difficult it can be for ordinary citizens to get answers from the government.

When this POLITICO reporter decided to take the president’s advice and call the USDA for an answer to the Atkinson town hall attendee’s question, I found myself in a bureaucratic equivalent of hot potato — getting bounced from the feds to Illinois state agriculture officials to the state farm bureau.

The advice took Politico’s MJ Lee on a two-day odyssey — and still ended up with no answer.  Instead of demonstrating how silly regulatory rumors are, the exercise proved that no one really knows what regulations we have, what has been proposed, and who’s responsible for them.  It turned into a great example of just how overregulated we are and how inefficient the government is at applying regulation.

Obama fancies himself a man of the people. Having heard the farmer’s complaint, why on earth couldn’t this alleged man of the people say to one of his staffers, “Okay, I want you to look into this, find the answer, tell me, and then I will call the farmer PERSONALLY and tell him what the policy is.” A politician can gain an awful lot of good will for things like that. (Hot Air)

But he’s never think of it. Government is great. Government is the solution to all things in life. 🙂

IDB-Economy: If you needed another metric by which to measure the failure of Obamanomics, new numbers released Friday show that two years after the recession ended the economy still hasn’t fully recovered.

I would argue the recession never ended to begin with. But that’s just me. 🙂

According to the revised gross domestic product data released Friday, the nation’s economy grew a paltry 1% in the second quarter, after eking out a barely noticeable 0.4% gain in the first.

As a result, two years after the recession ended, the economy still hasn’t made up the ground it lost, giving Obama the dubious distinction of presiding over the most prolonged economic recovery since the Great Depression.

This isn’t just slightly bad. It’s monumentally bad.

An IBD review of all the post-World War II recessions shows that, on average, it took just over two fiscal quarters for the economy to recover from a downturn and start expanding again.

In contrast, we’re eight quarters into the Obama recovery, and the expansion is somewhere off in the distance, with real GDP still $65.5 billion below the pre-recession peak. And if you take into account all the population growth that’s occurred over the past two years, we’re even further behind.

Obama likes to blame the depth of the downturn for the “painfully slow” recovery. “We didn’t get into this mess overnight, and we won’t get out of it overnight. It’s going to take time,” he said — nearly a year ago.

The claim is bogus. This recession lasted only slightly longer than the 1981-82 contraction — 18 months vs. 16 — and wasn’t as severe when measured by peak unemployment.

But the economy came screaming out of that downturn, and in three quarters was already well into an expansion. The 1973-75 recession lasted 16 months, but also took only three quarters to fully recover.

Obama’s also fond of blaming the sluggish recovery on the fact the recession resulted from a “financial crisis,” alleging that something about that kind of recession makes for a longer recovery time. But it’s not like all the other slumps didn’t have any hint of financial crisis behind them.

Now he and his friends have taken to blaming bad luck and Republican bad faith for supposedly weakening what had been an improving economy.

“In 2010 … we were growing,” Obama’s former chief economic adviser Austan Goolsbee said Thursday. “Now, at the beginning of this year, we get earthquakes, tsunamis, revolutions in the Middle East, European financial crises. Now we got earthquakes outside of Washington, D.C.” (and undoubtedly Irene is coming)

But Obama’s recovery was vastly inferior to previous ones well before these alleged headwinds emerged. Plus, revised GDP numbers show that the recovery was softening throughout 2010, with GDP growth slowing in each successive quarter.

For that, Obama has only his own economic medicine to blame. His preferred treatment — huge hikes in federal spending, massive new environmental and financial regulations, ObamaCare, an out-of-control labor relations board, verbal attacks on businesses and the rich, etc. — just isn’t working to get the economy back on its feet.

If a patient were taking an unusually long time to recover from an illness, a responsible doctor would try a new treatment regimen, rather than simply administer larger doses of the same drugs. He might even consult other doctors to see if they’ve had better luck with different prescriptions.

But Dr. Obama gives no sign of doing anything other than pump more Keynesian medicine into the IV. It’s possible he’ll try a different approach in September, when he gives his much-anticipated jobs speech. If he doesn’t, it will be nothing short of malpractice.

ObamaCare Economics. 4 More years! 4 More years! 4 More years! 🙂

Proof in the Pudding

Mort Zuckerman: Les Gelb wrote of Obama, “He is so self-confident that he believes he can make decisions on the most complicated of issues after only hours of discussion.” Strategic decisions go well beyond being smart, which Obama certainly is. They must be based on experience that discerns what works, what doesn’t—and why. This requires experienced staffing, which Obama and his top appointees simply do not seem to have. Or as one Middle East commentator put it, “There are always two chess games going on. One is on the top of the table, the other is below the table. The latter is the one that counts, but the Americans don’t know how to play that game.”

Or at least Obama doesn’t.

The end result is that a critical mass of influential people in world affairs who once held high hopes for the president have begun to wonder whether they misjudged the man. They are no longer dazzled by his rock star personality and there is a sense that there is something amateurish and even incompetent about how Obama is managing U.S. power. For example, Obama has asserted that America is not at war with the Muslim world. The problem is that parts of the Muslim world are at war with America and the West. Obama feels, fairly enough, that America must be contrite in its dealings with the Muslim world. But he has failed to address the religious intolerance, failing economies, tribalism, and gender apartheid that together contribute to jihadist extremism. This was startling and clear when he chose not to publicly support the Iranians who went to the streets in opposition to their oppressive government, based on a judgment that our support might be counterproductive. Yet, he reaches out instead to the likes of Bashar Assad of Syria, Iran’s agent in the Arab world, sending our ambassador back to Syria even as it continues to rearm Hezbollah in Lebanon and expands its role in the Iran-Hezbollah-Hamas alliance.

Clue: Hamas Charter has the phrase “Kill all the Jews” in it!

His lead from behind style doesn’t work. Waiting to see how it’s going before doing anything is politically safe, but also very politically damaging. And it’s not leadership.

The underlying issue is that the Arab world has different estimates on how to deal with an aggressive, expansionist Iran. The Arabs believe you do not deal with Iran with the open hand of a handshake but with the clenched fist of power. Arab leaders fear an Iran proceeding full steam with its nuclear weapons program on top of its programs to develop intermediate-range ballistic missiles. All the while centrifuges keep spinning in Iran, and Arab leaders ask whether Iran will be emboldened by what they interpret as American weakness and faltering willpower. They did not see Obama or his administration as understanding the region, where naiveté is interpreted as a weakness of character, as amateurism, and as proof of the absence of the tough stuff of which leaders are made. (That’s why many Arab leaders were appalled at the decision to have a civilian trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York. After 9/11, many of them had engaged in secret counterterrorism activities under the umbrella of an American promise that these activities would never be made public; now they feared that this would be the exact consequence of an open trial.)

America right now appears to be unreliable to traditional friends, compliant to rivals, and weak to enemies. One renowned Asian leader stated recently at a private dinner in the United States, “We in Asia are convinced that Obama is not strong enough to confront his opponents, but we fear that he is not strong enough to support his friends.”

He’s not. And with his re-election as the only thing on his mind he could care less. He’s too busy sucking up to the Hispanics, both legal and illegal and trying to not have his own base frack him.

The United States for 60 years has met its responsibilities as the leader and the defender of the democracies of the free world. We have policed the sea lanes, protected the air and space domains, countered terrorism, responded to genocide, and been the bulwark against rogue states engaging in aggression. The world now senses, in the context of the erosion of America’s economic power and the pressures of our budget deficits, that we will compress our commitments. But the world needs the vision, idealism, and strong leadership that America brings to international affairs. This can be done and must be done. But we are the only ones who can do it. (US News and World Report)

Did I happen to mention this article was written by a Democrat?

Obama is bored by international affairs. He’s to busy trying to turn America in the Liberal Utopian Vision that he and his kin have had since the days of Woodrow Wilson.

He doesn’t understand and he doesn’t really care.

And his “leadership” style is to let everyone else run amok and do it for him so he can take credit for it working or blame someone else when it doesn’t.

And give flowery, fiery speech that mean nothing in the end because he’ll reverse even his own speech in a heartbeat if he thinks there’s political advantage.

In short, he’s not up to the job and never was. And people like me who said so, are the “extremists”, the “terrorists” and “nutjobs”.

Speaking of nutjobs, especially ones, that Obama once said he’d meet with unconditionally because he’s such a guy:

“Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Iran was determined to eradicate Israel, ISNA news agency reported Thursday.

“‘Iran believes that whoever is for humanity should also be for eradicating the Zionist regime (Israel) as symbol of suppression and discrimination,’ Ahmadinejad said in an interview with a Lebanese television network, carried by ISNA.”

Eradicate. Wow.

Try and spin that one! (by the way, this is not new…)

So let’s sit down and talk over beer and pizza with him about this. If we are nice and respectful and we say “please” maybe he won’t turn the Middle East into a nuclear slag pile.

Oh Mr. President…. 🙂

The Fault Lines

But when he does it in less than 3 years it’s not only ok, it’s:

Political Cartoons by Gary Varvel

Now don’t you feel better! 🙂

But you know he was just saying all that to get elected. Whether he believed it or not, didn’t matter. He wanted you to believe it.

And now for 2012 he wants you to believe it again. Forget everything about the last 3 years, except who’s fault it is–anyone’s but his.

Obama is only three years into his term, and has already surpassed $4T in terms of increasing the debt.  Is it still “irresponsible” and “unpatriotic”, Mr. President, or only when a Republican does it?

Apparently Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) didn’t go far enough when she blamed racism for the high unemployment rate among African-Americans. Today she made sure everyone got the real message: The Tea Party is the enemy.

They can go to Hell, according to Rep. Maxine Waters and While the media plays up the Los Angeles congresswoman’s “the Tea Party can go straight to hell’ comments from this weekend, they are ignoring what she said right after that. When the wild cheers of the audience calmed down, Rep. Waters then said: “And I intend to help them get there.”

But don’t worry, it’s the Tea Party/Republicans fault for not compromising and being “extreme”.

‘Intransigence’ and ‘Bigotry’ according to CNN’s Piers Morgan.

Some voters might be insulted by the suggestion that a little creative relabeling will fool them into embracing policies they would otherwise reject.

But that won’t stop the Orwellian Liberals. They don’t know any other way.

To disagree with them you must be absolutely stone cold STUPID. You have to be the biggest moron who ever walked the earth to believe they are wrong about anything.

So that’s when the hatred bubbles over and you get such wonderously non-judgemental, compassionate, and total willing to compromise for the greater good liberal comments as outlined. 🙂

Now that another massive new dose of deficit spending is no longer possible, the rigid Keynesian mind can only conceive of one alternative: a smaller dose of deficit spending. But to the Keynesian mind, a small dose of deficit spending will have a tiny impact compared to a massive dose of deficit spending. Obama can’t possibly have his heart in the “mini-stimulus” he’s likely to propose; he probably believes it’s doomed to failure because it’s too small. (DC)

And if you oppose it, you’re a “terrorist”, a “bigot”, “going to hell”, and “uncompromising”.

Now you can work with that can’t you? :0

The unemployment rate has been at or over 9 percent for 25 of the last 30 months. Why are we still waiting for Obama’s jobs plan?

It has been over 8% since February 2009.

But that’s not his fault. It’s not the Democrats fault.

It’s Bush…The Tea party…The Japan Tsunami…The Arabs…Iraq…Afghanistan…The ATM…automation…Corporations…The “rich”…The pizza delivery guy…. Anyone but them.

What difference does it make what stories the country’s attention was drawn to? How would that excuse Obama’s failure to even have a plan to address what he has repeatedly acknowledged to be America’s number one problem?

It doesn’t. But Liberals love distractions and diversions away from the truth that they have failed so miserably that it should be totally obvious to even a moron.
But it apparently isn’t, is it 🙂
But you can expect one thing for sure for The Democrats come September- more poll-tested euphemisms for raising tax rates so they can spend even more.
Why?
Because it’s all they know. Everything else is outside of their universe. It’s foreign. It’s evil. It’s bad. It’s “Extreme”.
And we can’t have extremism in the defense of liberty now can we. 🙂
Mainstream Liberal/Ministry of Truth Media Update
CBS’s Norah O’Donnell, filling in on Face the Nation, just couldn’t comprehend how a candidate espousing true conservative views could possibly capture the White House. Referring to Rick Perry, she demanded: “Can the Republican Party elect someone President who doesn’t believe in global warming?”
Well, that’s would be just Stupid now wouldn’t it! Of Course Global Warming is absolutely and unequivocally true. You’d have to be a moron not to think so.
On The Stimulus: “Well, many economists say had they not done the stimulus, it would have been much worse.”
Oh, really, are they all Keynesian Economists by any chance?
CNN’s Jack Cafferty slammed the “intellectual lightweights” leading the Republican presidential field on Wednesday, wondering why their supporters “seem to be allergic to brains.” (MRC)
But don’t worry, it’s you, not them, that are uncompromising, extreme, and just plain stupid… 🙂
A report from the Employment Policies Institute finds that only one in five members of Congress has an academic background in business or economics.
And 7 of the top 10 Richest millionaires in Congress are Democrats.
Feeling that “Hope and Change” yet?

Tragedy Avoidable

An illegal immigrant has been charged with vehicular homicide after hitting a 23-year-old man and driving away….drunk.

An illegal immigrant who allegedly killed a 23-year-old Massachusetts man in a hit-and-run accident Saturday is being held on $100,000 cash bail, the Milford Daily News reports.

Nicolas D. Guaman, 34, of Milford, Mass., was arrested Saturday after his vehicle struck Matthew J. Denice, who was on a motorcycle, according to police. Guaman’s pickup truck had allegedly dragged Denice’s body a quarter-mile, the newspaper reports.

Judge Robert Calagione entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Guaman in Milford District Court on Tuesday.

Michael Maloney, Denice’s stepfather, is reportedly calling the accident a “murder.” He described Denice, who had just graduated from Framingham State University with a computer degree, as a “great all-American kid,” according to the newspaper.

Police in Milford confirmed that Guaman was in the country illegally, and Denice’s family has called for him to receive a lengthy sentence in the U.S., rather than simply being deported.

Guaman is accused of negligent vehicular homicide while driving under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury and death, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and unlicensed driving, among other charges.

If found guilty of vehicular homicide, he could get up to 15 years in jail.

So, not only was a 23-year-old Michael Maloney’s life cut way too short by an illegal driving drunk and without a license, but taxpayers are now footing the bill for Guaman to be represented in a court of law and to keep him in a U.S. jail despite the fact Guaman isn’t a U.S. citizen and previously broke the law by coming into the U.S. illegally in the first place. This is just one of many tragic and irresponsible crime stories that happen everyday in the U.S. involving illegal immigrants.

Nicolas D. Guaman, 34, of 10 Cherry St., Apt. 1, Milford, who authorities say was driving drunk when he struck Matthew J. Denice, who was riding a motorcycle. Denice, 23, was dragged a quarter-mile and died as a result of the crash.

He was arrested several years ago for beating up a cop. He wasn’t even prosecuted and no report to Immigration authorities was ever made.

And the other tragic part? The Obama Administration’s new amnesty policies may allow this guy to avoid deportation. (He’s not “violent” enough in Massachusetts)

MILFORD —With the death of a Milford man allegedly at the hands of an illegal immigrant who was drunk behind the wheel, lawmakers and law enforcement officials are urging the state to join a federal program that shares fingerprints and other information.
It’s like this, Massachusetts has NO database of any Illegal Aliens in the state. None. Zip. Zero. Nada! And the Governor and the bureaucrats don’t want one either!
They aren’t illegal. They’re just potential Democrats!

In June, Gov. Deval Patrick did not sign a memorandum that would have launched the program <Secure Communities> in the state, citing worries it would deport people who were not convicted of serious crimes, could lead to racial profiling and may keep immigrants from reporting crimes, according to a letter from Secretary of Public Safety Marybeth Heffernan to ICE.

Yesterday, Patrick press secretary Alex Goldstein said in a statement that “the governor’s policy is that serious criminals who are here illegally should be deported. Massachusetts has and will continue to send fingerprints to the federal government, and the Massachusetts Department of Correction will continue to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement to facilitate removal of undocumented immigrants who have been convicted of felonies.”

The parents, family and friend of the victim appreciate that, Governor! 😦

Frank Slouts, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, agreed with Patrick’s rationale. Domestic violence victims may be discouraged from reporting crimes under Secure Communities because police often hear counter-arguments and arrest both the offender and the alleged victim, he said. “I think there’s universal condemnation that this is a heinous act, but the fact that he’s undocumented isn’t the main issue,” Slouts said. “It’s that he was already part of the criminal justice system and wasn’t (convicted).”

Nice Open Borders title dickhead!

Gian Bontempo said he has lived in town for more than 40 years and is not against immigration, because it is what Milford was built on.

“It doesn’t matter what nationality (Guaman) was if he was drunk,” Bontempo said.

Yeah, but if he’d been deported after he beat up a cop and we had a secure border there would be one less dead person in the world. One less tragedy.
But that would deprive the Democrats of their new voter base and we can’t have that!
