Lost Conversations

Because RFRA isn’t discriminatory, along with the fact that there’s no widespread discrimination against gay Americans in states with no public accommodation statues–the left’s argument makes no sense.  This post-apocalyptic scenario would have happened long ago–and it hasn’t.

But, it could according to the Left if the don’t nuke everyone who even thinks of defying them.

Nevertheless, some of of fellow citizens on the left continue to go indiscriminately insane. Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Indiana soon found themselves under nuclear attack. The O’Connor family, which owns the shop, became the target of death threats. They’ve subsequently been forced underground. It all started when ABC 57 reporter Alyssa Marino asked Crystal O’Connor if she would cater a gay wedding. O’Connor said no, but added that her establishment would certainly serve gay customers; a point that isn’t mentioned until the final sentence of Marino’s article:

“If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no,” says Crystal O’Connor of Memories Pizza. She and her family are standing firm in their beliefs.

The O’Connors have owned Memories Pizza in Walkerton for 9 years.

It’s a small-town business, with small-town ideals.

“We are a Christian establishment,” says O’Connor.

The O’Connor family prides themselves in owning a business that reflects their religious beliefs.

“We’re not discriminating against anyone, that’s just our belief and anyone has the right to believe in anything,” says O’Connor.

The O’Connor family told ABC 57 news that if a gay couple or a couple belonging to another religion came in to the restaurant to eat, they would never deny them service.

The O’Connors say they just don’t agree with gay marriages and wouldn’t cater them if asked to.

The Liberal “journalist” is the one who started this by using “gotcha” yellow journalism in the first place. But I bet she’s a hero at ABC 57 for “exposing” the intolerant underbelly of mean-spirited, discriminatory, evil Christians. Boo Hiss… 🙂

Some people have threatened arson against the pizzeria, or have issued death threats, which caused this family to tragically head for the bunker. I mean what else can you do when the conversation is boiled down to “if you don’t agree with me, I’ll burn your business down, or kill you.” We’ve certainly reached another low point. Thankfully, a GoFundMe page was established by Dana Loesch and her crew over at The Blaze for the O’Connor family, which has accumulated almost $1 million in donations.  Last night, the page was closed, but not after ending its run with nearly $850,000 in donations.

Yet, that’s not after another pernicious–and unhinged–hypothesis from the left emerged about the donation page emerged; the family did this on purpose so it’s a scam (I want to jump out of a window now).

This childish conspiracy theory was rampant on the leftist comment boards for the last couple of days after it became apparently they lost the battle to nuke this family back into the stone age on their “righteous” vengeance.

Loesch noted that a petition has been filed to remove the O’Connor GoFundMe page. Allahpundit facetiously noted that if this shoddy conspiracy theory is true, O’Connor is the “Gone Girl of religious liberty.” But added that in reality, the leftys are just furious that O’Connor and her family haven’t been ruined.

There was even a some kind of counter GoFundMe set up by the extreme Leftists. I didn’t investigate it but I saw it mentioned.

Is this the End Of Discussion in America?

Yes. Liberal don’t discuss. They state what they want, when they want it and if you don’t give it to them right f*cking NOW you will be nuked into oblivion by their righteous wrath.

Moreover, why are liberals so enthralled with making those with whom they disagree, like Memories Pizza, disappear?  Even liberal Bill Maher is unnerved by this attitude on the left. If liberals think it’s reprehensible to deny gays a wedding cake, how do they feel about a baker being sued for not writing anti-gay slogans on one? What about Muslim bakers refusing service to gay couples? Steven Crowder examined this in Dearborn, Michigan, asking Muslim bakers to make a cake for his fake “gay wedding.” They all refused. Guy and Mary Katherine Ham will detail all of this in due time, but this recent foray into cultural chaos shows that we’ve lost the ability to have serious conversations.

Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana asked the legislature to pass an unnecessary clarification bill, which passed earlier this week.

They caved.

Wilco found it significant enough to reschedule their cancelled event in Indianapolis.

And will be sold out and hailed a hero of The Left. Now that’s a slick capitalist move. 🙂

UPDATE: Alix Bryan, a CBS social media staffer from their Richmond station, reported the GoFundMe page for fraud “just in case.

Happy Anniversary!

Today is the 4th anniversary of this blog.

Egads, how time flies.

So let’s not let it go to Waste….on second thought….
let’s scroll through the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) annual report highlighting just some of the waste and redundant programs still funded by our tax dollars.

Wasteful Spending Program #1: $14 million on Catfish Inspections

“Government doesn’t have a spending problem.”- President Obama, Jan. 2013

Not only does government have a spending problem, but with a budget shortfall estimated at $845 billion this year, we have a massive wasteful spending problem. Take for instance Catfish Inspections. The GAO reports that we could easily save $14 million annually by consolidating the overlapping inspection processes on Catfish.

The actual cost of our absolutely critical Catfish inspections are more than $100 million every year, but due to a system riddled with inefficiencies we’re throwing money down the stream. The United States Department of Agriculture, under a provision of the 2008 Farm Bill, has the power to inspect and create inspection programs for meat, poultry, and seafood. One inspection process, Catfish, has grown into three separate taxpayer-funded agencies each with overlapping research and responsibilities.

Wasteful Spending Program #2: $4 Billion by not buying in bulk

“Deficit reduction is not a worthy goal.” – White House spokesman Jay Carney

Ask any big American family how they save money on groceries and household supplies, and they’ll probably pull out a Costco card. We understand that buying in bulk will reduce costs, but sadly our Federal Government doesn’t understand that basic tip for saving tax dollars. Instead each department or agency buys many of the same goods independently, dramatically reducing our national purchasing power and wastefully spending your tax dollars. The GAO reports that, “By simply buying together the critical agencies like the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Energy, and Veterans Affairs could save over $4 billion a year.”

Wasteful Spending Program #3: $82 million spent on 7 different camouflage uniforms

“It’s almost a false argument to say that we have a spending problem.” – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi

In 2002 the military began a change from two camouflage patterns to the seven service-specific camouflage uniforms, all with different colors and patterns which we have today. The camouflage uniforms look incredibly similar, yet because each branch of the military is developing its own uniforms they are spending nearly $82 million in the design, creation and acquisition of the different uniforms. Instead of the military branches working together, they are all moving separately. The GAO report found that consolidating the uniforms would be more efficient, better protect service members and save millions. During the sequester debate, we made it clear that providing for national defense was a legitimate and vital function of the US Government, but maintained that even the military could trim spending by finding and eliminating inefficiencies. The $82 million in overspending here seems like a great place to start.

Implementing just these three simple changes above would save $5 billion the very first year. With the hundreds of other reforms suggested by the GAO report there would be an annual savings of roughly $250 billion. As Senator Coburn said, “That’s three times what the sequester was. Just in waste, in duplication, in stupidity, and lack of efficiency and effectiveness by the federal government. (It) makes you want to pull your hair out.”

Well said Senator Coburn…well said.

I don’t really have that much hair left to pull though.

You remember the Sequester, the 2% cut in the increase in spending that, as Liberals portray, has brought Hell on Earth, people are starving, kids as being thrown out into street, grandma is eat dog food in a back alley!

Nothing serious. 🙂

So here’s more ditties for ya:

According to the Washington Post, the U.S. government is going to leave 7 billion dollars worth of military equipment behind in Afghanistan.

The NIH plans to spend $509,840 on a study that “will send text messages in ‘gay lingo’ to methamphetamine addicts to try to persuade them to use fewer drugs and more condoms.”

The National Science Foundation has given $384,949 to Yale University to do a study on “Sexual Conflict, Social Behavior and the Evolution of Waterfowl Genitalia”.  Try not to laugh, but much of this research involves examining and measuring the reproductive organs of male ducks.

The IRS spent $60,000 on a film parody of “Star Trek” and a film parody of “Gilligan’s Island”.  Internal Revenue Service employees were the actors in the two parodies, so as you can imagine the acting was really bad.

The NIH has given $1.5 million to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts to study why “three-quarters” of lesbians in the United States are overweight and why most gay males are not.

The NIH has also spent $2.7 million to study why lesbians have more “vulnerability to hazardous drinking”.

The U.S. government is giving sixteen F-16s and 200 Abrams tanks to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt even though the new president of Egypt, Mohammed Morsi (a member of the Muslim Brotherhood), constantly makes statements such as the following…

“Dear brothers, we must not forget to nurse our children and grandchildren on hatred towards those Zionists and Jews, and all those who support them”

During 2012, the salaries of Barack Obama’s three climate change advisers combined came to a grand total of more than $370,000.

Overall, 139 different White House staffers were making at least $100,000 during 2012, and there were 20 staffers that made the maximum of $172,200.

Amazingly, U.S. taxpayers spend more than 1.4 billion dollars a year on the Obamas.  Meanwhile, British taxpayers only spend about 58 million dollars on the entire royal family.

During 2012, $25,000 of federal money was spent on a promotional tour for the Alabama Watermelon Queen.

The U.S. government spent $505,000 “to promote specialty hair and beauty products for cats and dogs” in 2012.

NASA spends close to a million dollars a year developing a menu of food for a manned mission to Mars even though it is being projected that a manned mission to Mars is still decades away.

During 2012, the federal government spent 15 million dollars to help the Russians recruit nuclear scientists.

Over the past 15 years, a total of approximately $5.25 million has been spent on hair care services for the U.S. Senate.

The U.S. government spent 27 million dollars to teach Moroccans how to design and make pottery in 2012.

At a time when we have an epidemic of unemployment in the United States, the U.S. Department of Education is spending $1.3 million to “reduce linguistic, academic, and employment barriers for skilled and low-skilled immigrants and refugees, and to integrate them into the U.S. workforce and professions.”

The federal government still sends about 20 million dollars a year to the surviving family members of veterans of World War I, even though World War I ended 94 years ago.

The U.S. government is spending approximately 3.6 million dollars a year to support the lavish lifestyles of former presidents such as George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

During fiscal 2012, the National Science Foundation gave researchers at Purdue University $350,000.  They used part of that money to help fund a study that discovered that if golfers imagine that a hole is bigger it will help them with their putting.

The U.S. government is giving hundreds of millions of dollars to the Palestinian Authority every single year.

Federal agencies have purchased a total of approximately 2 billion rounds of ammunition over the past couple of years.  It is claimed that all of this ammunition is needed for “training purposes”.

During 2012, the National Science Foundation spent $516,000 on the creation of a video game called “Prom Week” which apparently simulates “all the social interactions of the event.”

If you can believe it, $10,000 of U.S. taxpayer money was actually used to purchase talking urinal cakes up in Michigan.

When Joe Biden and his staff took a trip to London, the hotel bill cost U.S. taxpayers $459,388.65.

Joe Biden and his staff also stopped in Paris for one night.  The hotel bill for that one night came to $585,000.50.

If you can believe it, close to 15,000 retired federal employees are currently collecting federal pensions for life worth at least $100,000 annually.  That list includes such names as Newt Gingrich, Bob Dole, Trent Lott, Dick Gephardt and Dick Cheney.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has spent $300,000 to encourage Americans to eat caviar.

The National Institutes of Health recently gave $666,905 to a group of researchers that is conducting a study on the benefits of watching reruns on television.

The National Science Foundation has given 1.2 million dollars to a team of “scientists” that is spending part of that money on a study that is seeking to determine whether elderly Americans would benefit from playing World of Warcraft or not.

The National Institutes of Health recently gave $548,731 to a team of researchers that concluded that those that drink heavily in their thirties also tend to feel more immature.

The National Science Foundation recently spent $30,000 on a study to determine if “gaydar” actually exists.  This is the conclusion that the researchers reached at the end of the study….

“Gaydar is indeed real and… its accuracy is driven by sensitivity to individual facial features”

In 2011, the National Institutes of Health spent $592,527 on a study that sought to figure out once and for all why chimpanzees throw poop.

The National Institutes of Health has spent more than 5 million dollars on a website called Sexpulse that is targeted at “men who use the Internet to seek sex with men”.  According to Fox News, the website “includes pornographic images of homosexual sex as well as naked and scantily clad men” and features “a Space Invaders-style interactive game that uses a penis-shaped blaster to shoot down gay epithets.”

The General Services Administration spent $822,751 on a “training conference” for 300 west coast employees at the M Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.  The following is how the Washington Post described some of the wasteful expenses that happened during this “conference”…

Among the “excessive, wasteful and in some cases impermissable” spending the inspector general documented: $5,600 for three semi-private catered in-room parties and $44 per person daily breakfasts; $75,000 for a “team-building” exercise — the goal was to build a bicycle; $146,000 on catered food and drinks; and $6,325 on commemorative coins in velvet boxes to reward all participants for their work on stimulus projects. The $31,208 “networking” reception featured a $19-per-person artisanal cheese display and $7,000 of sushi. At the conference’s closing-night dinner, employees received “yearbooks” with their pictures, at a cost of $8,130.

Do you remember when credit rating agency Egan Jones downgraded U.S. government debt from AA+ to AA?  Well, someone in the federal government apparently did not like that at all.  According to Zero Hedge, the SEC planned to file charges against Egan Jones for “misstatements” on a regulatory application with the SEC.

Normally, the SEC does not go after anyone.  After all, when is the last time a major banker went to prison?

No, the truth is that the SEC is usually just a huge waste of taxpayer money.  According to ABC News, one investigation found that 17 senior SEC officials had been regularly viewing pornography while at work.  While the American people were paying their salaries, this is what senior SEC officials were busy doing…

One senior attorney at SEC headquarters in Washington spent up to eight hours a day accessing Internet porn, according to the report, which has yet to be released. When he filled all the space on his government computer with pornographic images, he downloaded more to CDs and DVDs that accumulated in boxes in his offices.

An SEC accountant attempted to access porn websites 1,800 times in a two-week period and had 600 pornographic images on her computer hard drive.

Another SEC accountant used his SEC-issued computer to upload his own sexually explicit videos onto porn websites he joined.

And another SEC accountant attempted to access porn sites 16,000 times in a single month.

According to InformationWeek, the federal government is spending “millions of dollars” to train Asian call center workers.

If you can believe it, the federal government has actually spent $750,000 on a new soccer field for detainees held at Guantanamo Bay.

The U.S. Agency for International Development spent 10 million dollars to create a version of “Sesame Street” for Pakistani television.

The Obama administration has plans to spend between 16 and 20 million dollars to help students from Indonesia get master’s degrees.

The National Science Foundation spent $198,000 on a University of California-Riverside study that explored “motivations, expectations and goal pursuit in social media.” One of the questions the study sought an answer to was the following: “Do unhappy people spend more time on Twitter or Facebook?”

In 2011, $147,138 was given to the American Museum of Magic in Marshall, Michigan.  Their best magic trick is making U.S. taxpayer dollars disappear.

The federal government recently spent $74,000 to help Michigan “increase awareness about the role Michigan plays in the production of trees and poinsettias.”

In 2011, the federal government gave $550,000 toward the making of a documentary about how rock and roll contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union.

The National Institutes of Health has contributed $55,382 toward a study of “hookah smoking habits” in the country of Jordan.

The federal government gave $606,000 to researchers at Columbia University to study how heterosexuals use the Internet to find love.

A total of $133,277 was recently given to the International Center for the History of Electronic Games for video game preservation.  The International Center for the History of Electronic Games says that it “collects, studies, and interprets video games, other electronic games, and related materials and the ways in which electronic games are changing how people play, learn, and connect with each other, including across boundaries of culture and geography.”

The federal government has given approximately $3 million to researchers at the University of California at Irvine to fund their “research” into video games such as World of Warcraft.

In 2011, the National Science Foundation gave one team of researchers $149,990 to create a video game called “RapidGuppy” for cell phones and other mobile devices.

In 2011, $936,818 was spent developing an online soap opera entitled “Diary of a Single Mom”.  The show “chronicles the lives and challenges of three single mothers and their families trying to get ahead despite obstacles that all single mothers face, such as childcare, healthcare, education, and finances.”

Last year, the federal government spent $96,000 to buy iPads for kindergarten students in Maine.

The U.S. Postal Service once spent $13,500 for a single dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.

In 2011, the Air Force Academy completed work on an outdoor worship area for pagans and Wiccans.  The worship area consists of “a small Stonehenge-like circle of boulders with [a] propane fire pit” and it cost $51,474 to build.  The worship area is “for the handful of current or future cadets whose religions fall under the broad category of ‘Earth-based’, which includes Wiccans, druids and pagans.”  At this point, that only includes 3 current students at the Air Force Academy.

The National Institutes of Health once gave researchers $400,000 to study why gay men in Argentina engage in risky sexual behavior when they are drunk.

The National Institutes of Health once gave researchers $442,340 to study the behavior of male prostitutes in Vietnam.

The National Institutes of Health once spent $800,000 in “stimulus funds” to study the impact of a “genital-washing program” on men in South Africa.

The National Science Foundation recently spent $200,000 on a study that examined how voters react when politicians change their stances on climate change.

The federal government recently spent $484,000 to help build a Mellow Mushroom pizzeria in Arlington, Texas.

At this point, China is holding over a trillion dollars of U.S. government debt.  But that didn’t stop the United States from sending 17.8 million dollars in foreign aid to China in 2011.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture gave the largest snack food maker in the world (PepsiCo Inc.) a total of 1.3 million dollars in corporate welfare that was used to help build “a Greek yogurt factory in New York.”

The National Science Foundation recently gave a whopping $697,177 to a New York City-based theater company to produce a musical about climate change.

The federal government once shelled out $2.6 million to train Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture once handed researchers at the University of New Hampshire $700,000 to study methane gas emissions from dairy cows.

The federal government has spent $175,587 “to determine if cocaine makes Japanese quail engage in sexually risky behavior”. (zero hedge)

But remember the Sequester has ruined everyone and everything! 🙂

The New Red Menace

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

A new study suggests that President Obama’s campaign systematically pursued foreign contributions to fuel his run for the presidency, a violation of law. Is America’s democracy now for sale to the highest bidder?

The Government Accountability Institute, which is headed by Stanford University Professor Peter Schweizer, used sophisticated Internet investigative tools — including something called “spidering” software — to determine how the web is being used to raise political funds.

What it found should be of concern, since it suggests that many in Congress and, more importantly, the Obama campaign have systematically exploited loopholes in the law to raise millions of dollars overseas — a big chunk of it in the People’s Republic of China.

How is this done? Through the mundane use of what’s called in the credit-card world the Card Verification Value, or CVV. It’s the three-digit number on the back of a card that helps positively identify that the person using the card has it in his or her possession. It’s a key anti-fraud weapon, used by nearly all legitimate e-commerce businesses and charities.

Obama’s campaign doesn’t use it. Mitt Romney’s does. So why the particular concern over Obama?

As the report notes, letting a flood of money into the political system with no verification of its source is an invitation to fraud — especially from overseas.

The end justifies the means. Win at any cost. Lying and Cheating are good as long as you don’t get caught, then it’s someone’s fault anyhow. So go for it!
So how much of that “record” $181 million Obama touts from September was legitimate? And do they care?
No, they don’t.
They have to have as much money as possible to spread as much poison as possible.
The Nuke Romney until he glows stategy of Vote for me Romney’s a Nuclear Slag Pile of Shit will only work with lots of money for lots of scurrilous and defamatory lying attack ads.
So they need as much money as they can get their hands on, Legal or not. Who cares.
It’s about winning, it’s not about legality, or morality. Hell no!
Under federal election law, contributions from foreign sources are prohibited. But the law also doesn’t require a campaign to disclose the source of contributions less than $200, and it doesn’t even have to keep records for those giving less than $50.

In September, for instance, Obama’s campaign announced it had raised $181 million. But if you’re looking for transparency, you won’t find it: Just 2% of that amount — $3.6 million — has to be reported to the FEC.

In 2008, Robert Roche, a U.S. businessman based in Shanghai with extensive commercial ties to the Chinese government, bought the website Obama.com.

Roche, a big-time bundler for Obama, was given a place of honor at the head table with Obama and first lady Michelle Obama at a 2011 state dinner for Chinese President Hu Jintao. Nothing illegal about that.

It’s not clear Roche still even owns Obama.com. But this year, suspiciously, the site began sending visitors to the Obama campaign’s donation page on the Web. Some 68% of Obama.com’s visitors are foreign.

Similarly, the Obama re-election campaign itself seems to be encouraging illegal foreign contributions.

Its social media website, my.barackobama.com, gets about 20% of its visitors from foreign locations. Anyone who uses the website, says the GAI, “immediately begins receiving solicitations for donations.”

However, “At no point … is a visitor asked whether he or she can legally donate to a U.S. election,” it notes.

The revelation is troubling, since China’s government has a history of trying to manipulate U.S. politicians, especially — but not exclusively — Democrats.

In 1996, Chinese agent Johnny Chung gave almost $100,000 to American politicians, much of it from powerful members of China’s military. Chung reportedly gave $300,000 to President Clinton’s campaign.

The Justice Department in 1997 launched two investigations of reported attempts of high-level Chinese officials to “buy influence” with U.S. politicians, especially the Democratic National Committee.
(and we know THIS Justice Department is not overly political and can do it’s job without ideological or partisan concerns) 🙂

With the Internet, China seems to have found a road to political clout bigger than an eight-lane highway.

Under the current president, the U.S. has largely ceded control of the Western Pacific to China and let that nation’s massive military buildup go unchallenged. Meanwhile, until recently, Obama soft-pedaled even the mildest criticisms of China’s economic policies.

But then, why bite the hand that feeds you?

But I’m sure it’s BAIN’s fault. 🙂

Nothing to Worry About

Nothing to worry about:

according to the US Treasury, America has closed the books on 2011 with debt at an all time record $15,222,940,045,451.09. And, as was observed here first in all of the press, US debt to GDP is now officially over 100%, or 100.3% to be specific, a fact which the US government decided to delay exposing until the very end of the calendar year. We wonder, rhetorically, just how prominent of a talking point this historic event will be in any upcoming GOP primary debates. And yes, technically this number is greater than the debt ceiling but it excludes various accounting gimmicks. When accounting for those, the US has a debt ceiling buffer of… $14 billion, or one third the size of a typical bond auction.

Nothing at all. 😦

And speaking of Nothing to worry about…

RUBBER STAMP

Probe reveals feds pressuring agents to rush immigrant visas – even if fraud is feared.

Higher-ups within U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services are pressuring rank-and-file officers to rubber-stamp immigrants’ visa applications, sometimes against the officers’ will, according to a Homeland Security report and internal documents exclusively obtained by The Daily.

A 40-page report, drafted by the Office of Inspector General in September but not publicly released, details the immense pressure immigration service officers are under to approve visa applications quickly, sometimes while overlooking concerns about fraud, eligibility or security.

One-quarter of the 254 officers surveyed said they have been pressured to approve questionable cases, sometimes “against their will.”

The report does not call out any particular officials and indicates that the agency has had a problem with valuing quantity over quality since at least the 1980s.

But high-ranking USCIS officials said the pressure has heightened after the Obama administration appointed Alejandro Mayorkas as director in August 2009 during an effort to pass comprehensive immigration reform, bringing with him a mantra of “get to yes.”

Internal communications provided to The Daily indicate that the new leadership seemed to fundamentally clash with career agency employees over when to afford the benefit of the doubt, culminating in a whistle-blower investigation into a senior appointee and, ultimately, the agency-wide inspector general inquiry that produced the report.

“We recognize their right to interpret things as liberally as possible, but you still have to follow the law,” said one high-ranking official who was unhappy with the current push.

At least five agency veterans seen as being too tough on applicants were either demoted, or given the choice between a demotion or a relocation from Southern California — where their families were — to San Francisco and Nebraska, according to sources and letters of reassignment provided to The Daily.

Those kind of threats have caused lower-level employees to fall in line, sources said.

“People are afraid,” said one longtime manager, who requested anonymity for fear of being fired. “Integrity only carries people so far because they’ve got to pay the rent.”

A rank-and-file officer who was not involved in the investigation claimed he was demoted to working on less technical cases because he had a high denial rate. “They don’t reprimand you, they just move you,” he said.

“They attempted to basically get me to come into line and approve a bunch of cases. And I just wouldn’t compromise myself because the approvals they ordered, they weren’t in line with the laws,” said the officer.

These employees’ claims are reflected in the inspector general report, which found that 14 percent of respondents had “serious concerns” that employees who focused on fraud or ineligibility were evaluated unfairly. The report also found that supervisors sometimes take cases away from an unwilling officer and assign them to someone else, against agency rules.

Recommendations for improvements in the report included raising the burden of proof and doing away with the popular informal and special appeals practices, which immigration lawyers said would only lengthen an already onerous process.

Attorney David Leopold, who was recently president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, said the formal appeals process can take up to two years.

“When you’re dealing with business visas, those visas cannot wait around a year, or two years, for review. They needed an answer yesterday,” said Leopold. “I think when they’ve [the officers] made a mistake at that level … sometimes you can just reason with people and ask them to take a look at it again.”

Nevertheless, USCIS approved 86 percent of the 3.9 million immigration cases it reviewed between October 2008 and October 2009 — a 4 percent drop from the year before, according to the most recent data provided to The Daily.

And immigration attorneys complained that it seems like officers are just looking for reasons to deny a case, and already demand a higher standard of proof than what is required. That standard is now considered a 51 percent likelihood that a fact is true.

“We’re getting ridiculous denials and requests for evidence on things that should be approved very easily,” said immigration attorney Deb Notkin, adding that it’s particularly tough for specialty industries like fashion, software development and graphic design.

The attorneys applauded Mayorkas’ more open dialogue with them, and other proponents of immigration reform, who had previously felt shut out of the bureaucracy. “Mayorkas, to his credit, is very accessible, so we are able to express our concerns about the adjudication process,” said Leopold.

But sometimes, the openness led to a perception that private attorneys were “running” the agency, according to the inspector general’s report, which cited emails in which individual cases were granted special review after private attorneys complained to management.

Mayorkas and Homeland Security press officers said yesterday they could not comment on the allegations.

Homeland insecurity

The Daily has exclusively obtained a Homeland Security Office of Inspector General draft report on fraud detection issues within the agency’s immigration arm. The inspector general interviewed 147 managers and staff at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or USCIS, and received 256 responses to an online survey. Here are some of the findings in the report.

“63 of 254 Immigration Services Officers (24.8%) responded that they have been pressured to approve questionable applications.”

“Several USCIS employees informed us that officers have been required to approve specific cases against their will.”
“Another 35 ISOs (13.9%) had serious concerns concerns that employees who focus on fraud or ineligibility were evaluated unfairly.”

“Cases are sometimes taken away from us and given to officers who the supervisor knows will approve the case … Another survey respondent was threatened with a formal reprimand if a case was not approved as the supervisor required.”

“… data confirm that USCIS was more likely to grant O visa status [for aliens who have extraordinary ability in science, arts, business, or athletics] incorrectly than to deny a legitimate position.”

As I have said often in the past, THE AGENDA IS THE AGENDA and everything else in the universe be damned.

That is the Liberal way.

THE DEMOCRATS

“Part of what 2012 is about is both reminding the American people of how far we’ve traveled and the concrete effects that some of our work … but part of it is also framing this larger debate about what kind of country are we going to leave for our children and our grandchildren,” Obama said.

As part of that reframing effort, Obama caricatured the GOP’s free-market policies as “a different theory that says, we’re going to cut taxes for the wealthiest among us, and roll back regulations on things like clean air and health care reform and Wall Street reform, and that somehow, automatically, that assures that everybody is able to succeed.”

“I don’t believe that” theory, said Obama, who has described himself as a progressive.

Progressives, generally speaking, believe that university-trained managers should manage people’s economic and social lives. Conservatives, including social conservatives and libertarians, object to government-imposed management of the economy and society.

Obama also framed his progressive goals in the populist language chosen for his Dec. 6 speech in Osawatomie, Kansas, saying he was fighting for “an America where [government ensured] everybody had a fair shot, everybody did their fair share; that responsibility was rewarded and that the game wasn’t fixed.”

Only he wants to fix the game in HIS favor, and for the pet projects, like solar panels and “green tech” that get’s the Obama stamp of approval. Pick the Winners and Losers, that’s “free market” to socialists like him. But he’s not going to tell you that. And neither is the media.

It’s all about soaring rhetoric and meaningless double talk about how government should run everything and everyone because after all, government bureaucrats are vastly more “fair” and being dependent on government largess and it’s beneficence is all that you really need in life after all.

Nothing to Worry about.

“If you want to compete in a free market,” he told the campaign workers, “then you should compete on the basis of price and service and quality, not on the basis of somebody not being able to understand what they’re buying,” he declared.

Unless you’re a Non-Union employer, like say, Boeing in South Carolina….

Translation: You were too stupid to understand that when the government forced the banks to lend to anyone with a pulse (because that was more “fair”) and they did it and when the people couldn’t pay it back (as everyone already knew) that was the banks fault!

Capitalists are evil, greedy, tricksters out to screw you and I’m not. 🙂

Government control of everything is much more “fair”.

Nothing to Worry About. Trust Me sssssssssssssssssssssss…….

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

Republicans are determined to “end Medicare as we know it,” she intoned.  When the moment presented itself, Katie jumped in to ask why Democrats continue to insist on repeating the political “lie of the year,” as determined by the typically left-leaning fact check organization, Politifact.  Wasserman Schultz, visibly perturbed, interrupted the question and launched a meandering answer that hinged on an empty distinction.  Off camera, I chimed in with two quick follow-ups — to which DWS was substantively unresponsive.  Here’s the full exchange, culminating in the Florida Congresswoman throwing in the rhetorical towel.

After reciting a few platitudes, DWS pivoted back into attack dog mode, bitterly demanding that Republicans “sit down and compromise” with Democrats to help preserve Medicare.  Well, as it happens, the very Republican she regularly demonizes has recently done exactly that.  Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin teamed up with lefty Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon to introduce bipartisan legislation that incorporates many elements of Ryan’s original proposals, while maintaining “traditional Medicare” as an option in market-driven exchanges.  It also offers a more generous benchmark for spending increases than Ryan’s 2012 budget called for — a concession to the Left.  Although many conservatives have voiced significant concerns about some of the compromise’s elements, the Wyden/Ryan plan does precisely what DWS claims to crave.  Nevertheless, the White House instantly dismissed it out of hand — they’re too invested in Mediscare as a political strategy to abide any plausible solution.  Does DWS share the president’s opposition to the break-through, consensus-building reform plan?  As the clip reveals, she wasn’t interested in answering that question.  What a surprise.

THE AGENDA IS THE AGENDA!

Nothing to Worry about. As AG Holder famously said, Lying is “complicated”. 🙂

Definition of Marxism: The economic, social, political, pseudo-scientific philosophy, theory, belief, or system based on the works of Karl Marx of Germany. The theory seeks the elimination of the notion of private property in order to gain control of the economic “means of production” by taking it from the bourgeois (the wealthy or propertied class) for the benefit of the proletariat (working class.) His philosophy of history was called “historical materialism” in which his goal was to bring about the end of history, by means of an eventual perfect, classless, utopian society he called Communism.

Nothing to Worry about….

Mi Casa Su Casa

Surprise! The Pro-Illegal Justice Department thinks Sheriff Joe is being mean to Hispanics. Gee, you needed years for Pro-Illegal liberals to come up with a report that says that?

This is the Justice Department that is actively suing the State of Arizona for wanting to enforce Federal Immigration Laws (much less than what they accuse their favorite Hispanic ‘Nazi’ of). The very same Justice Department that is trying Fast and Furiously to cover up as much of “Fast & Furious” as possible.

The very same that refused to sentence already convicted Blank Panthers of Voter intimidation.

Oh, by the way, it’s been a year now since Agent Brian Terry was killed by a gun the ATF not only let be walked into Mexico, be demanded that it be walked into Mexico!

This is the Pro-Illegal Justice Department that refuses to even arrest most illegals, thus “arrests of illegals are down at the border” they’ll tout as there accomplishment.

It’s “down” so much that they can drop the number of troops on the border to virtually nil.

After all, “it’s more secure now than it has ever been” according to Big Sis.

Have you tossed your cookies yet?

Then you hear this:

Department of Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano has directed ICE to prepare for a mass influx of immigrants into the United States, calling for the plan to deal with the “shelter” and “processing” of large numbers of people.

“The Department of Homeland Security wants a plan to deal with sudden mass migrations of immigrants to the U.S.,” reports Government Security News .

“DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, according to a statement by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, recently directed ICE to develop a national-level mass migration plan. The plan will outline how to address the health care, sheltering, processing, transition and disposition of large numbers of undocumented individuals who might arrive in the U.S. as the result of a mass migration, said ICE on Dec. 13.”

Part of the preparations for sheltering and processing an influx of people includes the construction and manning of detention camps.

Anyone smell rotten bovine fecal matter? And you know that something disgustingly political is coming.

Vote for Democrats, We aren’t Racists!

We’re going to crush the major resistance to our ignoring of border protection so get ready to rush the border and get your freebies.

“Discrimination undermines law enforcement and erodes the public trust,” Napolitano said

Willfully refusing to enforce the law and actively working do just that erodes “public trust” also Janet? But you don’t care about that now do you?

And don’t forget to vote Democrat! 🙂

Welcome all illegals to your United States. Our home is your home.”-Sherriff Joe on Obama’s Justice Department

Mi Casa Su Casa! 🙂

Border we don’t need no stinkin’ borders. Borders are for violent, discriminatory racists!

And you think you’re safe if your already here (and not in the Democrat’s demographics):

The White House is signing off on a controversial new law that would authorize the U.S. military to arrest and indefinitely detain alleged al Qaeda members or other terrorist operatives captured on American soil.

Terrorist? Someone who disagrees with his the Government? 🙂

“By signing this defense spending bill, President Obama will go down in history as the president who enshrined indefinite detention without trial in U.S. law,” said Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch. “In the past, Obama has lauded the importance of being on the right side of history, but today he is definitely on the wrong side.”

But they can come over the border without any enforcement.

So you may be a “terrorist” for advocating we enforce the Border. After all, only racists want to enforce it.

Vote for Democrats, We aren’t Racists!

It is no surprise Democrats, led by Barack Obama and his Attorney General Eric Holder are against voter i.d. laws. After all, dead people can’t vote if you ask them to identify themselves. Voter fraud in every election is a concern, but with Obama’s past ties to ACORN and Holder’s abuse of Justice Department power, 2012 is looking like a battle for the ages when it comes to voting requirements and preventing abuse.

In the name of “civil rights,” he’s declared war on a nationwide movement to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

Just this year, eight states have passed new photo-ID laws; more than half now have some form of ID requirement for voting. But Holder has already sicced Justice’s Civil Rights Division on new voter-ID laws in South Carolina and Texas to see if there’s any “disproportionate impact” on minorities. He’s also objecting to reforms in “early voting” in places like Florida, which recently tightened its electoral window.

Liberals have long insisted that voter fraud is a “myth,” and voter-ID laws a plot to suppress turnout among “people who are more likely to vote Democratic, particularly the young, the poor, the elderly and minorities,” in the words of The New York Times.

Now that’s chutzpah coming from New York City, where the organized-crime ring known as Tammany Hall regularly and proudly stole municipal and statewide elections well into the 20th century with its army of “repeaters” — men who altered their appearances by shaving or changing their clothes so they could “vote early and often” — and other tactics.

Nor is it history. Just this week, the chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party resigned in the wake of election-fraud allegations involving forged ballot-petition signatures that are now under investigation.

Nor is it “merely” registration fraud. The Commission on Federal Election Reform, created after the 2004 election and co-chaired by Jimmy Carter and James Baker, uncovered examples of vote-buying, repeat voting and absentee-ballot fraud. As Justice John Paul Stevens wrote in upholding Indiana’s voter-ID law in 2008, “flagrant examples of such fraud have been documented throughout this nation’s history by respected historians and journalists.”

So, while Holder intones that unfettered access to the ballot box “must be viewed not only as a legal issue but a moral imperative,” his real agenda is surely politics: Fraud generally benefits Democratic candidates.

From this point forward, we will here the argument that “Republicans want to prevent minorities from voting and want to go back to the days of slavery. Republicans wanting you to show i.d. at the polls is proof! Minorities in poor communities don’t have access to identification. They’re taking away your right to vote.” (Katie Pavlich)

Vote for a Democrat, We aren’t a Racist!

The Real Story

To make this easier I have removed the Trillions (now dollars) and the like to simplify it.

You take in $2.00

You spend $3.60

So now when people are screaming at you to cut spending you say “ok I’ll  promise that my ‘super committee’ will cut .15 cents a year (That’s a $1.50 over TEN years) if you let me spend another $1 NOW on top of what I am ALREADY spending.

I will gladly pay you .15 cents on Thursday if you loan me a dollar now.

Oh, you don’t want to?

Well, rich Uncle Warren can afford it. He has more than he needs so let’s force him to give it to me.

And that will solve everything.

It’s only “fair” He has more than me, or you, after all.

And what are you going to do with that dollar, young man, you might ask? Pay down your debts?

No. I’m going to spend it on my union buddies, entitlements, and government jobs so they can kick it back to me for my campaign just like I have done before.

So how is that going to create more jobs?

It will create government jobs (government jobs are paid for by whom exactly? — taxpayers! and unions make up how much of the actual workforce- 18%!!).

The Top 2% spend 1/3 of all the consumer cash in this country. They also pay the most taxes.

The Top 1% pay nearly 40% of all the income taxes.

47% of all American pay no income taxes AT ALL.

But the rich  are the greedy bastards who have to be taken down by the Bolsheviks.

Hate them!

Mind you they create most of the actual jobs.

But they are evil, hoarding little bastards and we must take their money.

Not cut spending or pay down the debt. We need to give out more freebies to my apparatchiks and monetary drug dealers.

The number of households receiving food stamps swelled by 2 million to 13.6 million, meaning that nearly 1 in 8 receives the government aid.

But food stamps are an economic stimulus according to Obama Administration officials. So it’s all good.

In record-setting numbers, young adults struggling to find work are shunning long-distance moves to live with Mom and Dad, delaying marriage and buying fewer homes, often raising kids out of wedlock. They suffer from the highest unemployment since World War II and risk living in poverty more than others – nearly 1 in 5.

“We have a monster jobs problem, and young people are the biggest losers,” said Andrew Sum, an economist and director of the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University. He noted that for recent college grads now getting by with waitressing, bartending and odd jobs, they will have to compete with new graduates for entry-level career positions when the job market eventually does improve.

“Their really high levels of underemployment and unemployment will haunt young people for at least another decade,” Andrew Sum, an economist and director of the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University said.

In all, the employment-to-population ratio for all age groups from 2007-2010 dropped faster than for any similar period since the government began tracking the data in 1948. In the past year, 43 of the 50 largest U.S. metropolitan areas continued to post declines in employment, led by Charlotte, N.C., Jacksonville, Fla., Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Detroit, all cities experiencing a severe housing bust, budget deficits or meltdowns in industries such as banking or manufacturing.

Without work, young adults aren’t starting careers and lives in new cities, instead hanging out with their parents.

“Many young adults are essentially postponing adulthood and all of the family responsibilities and extra costs that go along with it,” said Mark Mather, an associate vice president at the private Population Reference Bureau. He described a shift toward a new U.S. norm – commonly seen in Europe – in which more people wait until their 30s to leave the parental nest. (AP)

And it’s “the rich”‘s fault don’t you know!. And Republicans “protect” the rich so vote for me (the Democrat) because the other guy’s an asshole!

If we just SPEND EVEN MORE and have even more government largess everything will eventually work out.

If you bang your head against the wall hard enough YOU WILL BREAK THE WALL!

The Wimpy President : Wimpy is soft-spoken, very intelligent, and well educated, but also cowardly, very lazy, overly parsimonious and utterly gluttonous. He is also something of a scam artist and, especially in the newspaper strip, can be notoriously underhanded at times.

“I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today”

I’ll gladly cut $1.5 Trillion OVER TEN YEARS (most of which I won’t be the President for) if I can spend yet another Trillion Now!

And if you don’t let me “pass the bill now” you’re just an obstructionist protecting greedy rich people, and a violent tea-bagger racist! 🙂

New campaign ad for Obama in Spanish only, “In the face of Republicans, the President can’t do it alone. Read the plan. Stand together for more jobs.”

Welcome to Obamanomics. The Land of Opportunists and Apparatchiks!

As the U.S. government grapples to find ways to trim the bloated federal deficit, a new report suggests officials might start with cutting out $16 muffins and $10 cookies.

“We found the Department (of Justice) spent $16 on each of the 250 muffins served at an August 2009 legal conference in Washington,” said a DOJ Office of Inspector General report released on Tuesday.

The DOJ spent $121 million on conferences in fiscal 2008 and 2009, which exceeded its own spending limits and appeared to be extravagant and wasteful, according to the report that examined 10 conferences held during that period.

The review turned up the expensive muffins, which came from the Capital Hilton Hotel just blocks from the White House, as well as cookies and brownies that cost almost $10 each.

The department spent $32 per person on snacks of Cracker Jack, popcorn, and candy bars and coffee that cost $8.24 per cup at another conference, the report said.

The DOJ also spent nearly $600,000 for event planning services for five conferences, the document said.

A Justice Department spokeswoman said most of the gathering were held when there were no strict limits on food and beverage costs, adding the DOJ had taken steps since 2009 “to ensure that these problems do not occur again.”

Word of the agency’s extravagant spending drew a swift response from Capitol Hill.

Senator Chuck Grassley, the senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee which has oversight of the Justice Department, said the report was a blueprint for the first cuts that should be made by the “super committee” searching for at least $1.2 trillion in savings.

“Sixteen dollar muffins and $600,000 for event planning services are what make Americans cynical about government and why they are demanding change,” Grassley said in a statement. “People are outraged, and rightly so.” (yahoo)

Dumb & Dumber

Political Cartoons by Lisa Benson

IBD: Over the weekend, President Obama encouraged everyone to read his jobs proposal and judge it for themselves. We took him up on his offer, and found five more reasons to kill the bill.

We’ve noted how Obama’s so-called jobs bill is an expensive rehash of all the policy failures he’s already imposed on the country, with the only new idea being several job-killing tax hikes.

But when he urged Americans during his weekly Saturday address to read the bill and decide for themselves, we thought we’d give the 155-page bill another try. Our conclusion: It’s even worse than we thought. Among the dumber ideas tucked in:

Wage insurance: The bill would let states use unemployment funds to make up the difference between an over-50 worker’s previous wage and what he gets paid at his new job. Why not? Isn’t it written in the Bill of Rights somewhere that no American shall ever be forced to take a job paying less than his previous one?

Bridge to nowhere: Obama claims his “Bridge to Work” idea will let people on unemployment “participate in temporary work as a way to build their skills,” citing the Georgia Works program as an example. But as Reuters reported, only 92 had signed up for that program since February and, according to the person in charge, it’s “fraught with problems.”

48th federal jobs training program: Obama would also create a $50 million training program for transportation jobs. Does he really think another federal jobs training program on top of the 47 existing failures — costing a combined $18 billion — will make a difference?

Let’s share: Borrowing from job-creation machines such as Italy, the bill would let companies cut workers’ hours, rather than lay them off, with unemployment insurance making up most of the difference in pay.

Sounds great, except that it would be ripe for abuse. And while more than a dozen states — including California and New York — already have similar “work share” programs, almost no one uses them because of all the fraud-preventing red tape involved.

Sued for hiring: How do you get jittery businesses to hire? Threaten to sue them if they hire someone who already has a job! At least, that’s how the White House thinks. It stuffed in a provision to make it illegal to “discriminate” against the unemployed when hiring.

Given all this dreck, is it any wonder that so few have bothered to take Obama up on his oft-repeated call for citizens to flood lawmakers’ offices with demands that they “pass this bill”?

But if you don’t you’re an “obstructionist”, a “do-nothing” “tea bagger” “racist” 🙂

And where is the actual spending cuts? Look in the mirror, see the smoke…

Gee, that make me feel better now. How about you? 🙂

MORE GREEN FRAUD

Political Cartoons by Glenn McCoy

Shortly after taking office, President Barack Obama defended the weatherization portion of the stimulus bill in a February 2009 CBS interview, saying it would immediately put people back to work, reduce energy costs and lay the groundwork for future energy independence.

“What would be a more effective stimulus package than that?” said Obama at the time. “That’s exactly the kind of program that we should be funding.”

In total, the stimulus program allocated about $5 billion to the cause of home weatherization, outfitting homes with the latest green technology in order to reduce energy prices.

But in October 2010, Gregory H. Friedman, Inspector General at the Department of Energy, issued a scathing report on Illinois’ weatherization program funded with stimulus dollars.

Among his findings were that 14 out of 15 “weatherized” homes failed final inspection because of poor workmanship and 12 out of 15 homes contained substandard work that could have “resulted in significant property damage or injury to the homeowners.”

But Friedman’s report didn’t stop there.

In one weatherized home, 11 out of 14 items the weatherization contractor installed failed inspection. Another home had an improperly installed exhaust system that turned out to be a potential fire hazard.

The audit also found that the number of gas leaks discovered was “alarming.”

Worst still, Friedman reported that contractors hired to weatherize homes charged homeowners prices significantly higher than market value for the items they installed.

“For example, CEDA’s published prices for smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and thermostats ranged from about 120 percent to 200 percent over the average retail price,” reads the audit report. “Neither CEDA nor State officials could justify such large mark-ups on materials.”

The IG’s audit also turned up erroneous billing practices, where contractors would over-charge for services that were never carried out.

“Additionally, a contractor had installed one carbon monoxide detector, but had billed CEDA for 3; another contractor had installed 12 light bulbs, but had billed CEDA for 20; and, yet another had failed to install a gas shut-off valve, but had billed for the work. In addition, a contractor had billed for almost four times the amount of drywall actually installed,” reads the report.

When contacted by TheDC, a DOE spokesperson Bill Gibbons said, “The weatherization programs are creating thousands of jobs, helping families save money, and deploying new clean energy technologies in local communities around the country.”

“We always expected that it would take some time to get these programs fully up and running in the beginning, but we are on track to significantly exceed the 600,000 home goal set for the program,” Gibbons added. “The Department takes any reported case of abuse or poor performance very seriously, but these have been the exception rather than the rule and we have taken aggressive actions to address the issues and hold those responsible accountable.”

Still, one member of the advisory board overseeing the state program, Republican state Sen. Dan Duffy, resigned from the non-voting position in March 2011 because he so incensed at what he saw to be an obvious waste of taxpayer money

“The more questions I asked, the more I was told ‘Dan, you don’t really have a vote,’” Duffy told TheDC.

“I guess I don’t understand, when the state of Illinois literally cannot pay its bills and is going bankrupt, is this really the best use of money?” Duffy added. “I don’t care if its state or federal. Why are we spending millions of dollars with absolutely no credibility of how the spend that money?”

The story of Illinois’ weatherization program, however, doesn’t stop there.

The state-run program is being promoted by four separate public relations firms. Two of those firms have close ties to the Obama administration.

Gee, I guess we just need to spend even more money and give it more time. 🙂

Isn’t that the Liberal answer to everything?

But Illinois isn’t the only state that struggled with its weatherization program. Delaware suspended its program altogether after only nine months when it became apparent the fraud and mismanagement was getting out of control.

A state audit in Tennessee, which received more than $100 million in stimulus funds for weatherization, also found rampant waste and abuse. The 260-page report uncovered problems very similar to those in Illinois: work was done improperly and funds went to homeowners not even eligible for the program.

Illinois, Delaware and Tennessee are only three examples, but numerous reports show the mismanagement is widespread throughout then entire nationwide program.

“It was a set up for failure,” Duffy told TheDC.

But it “felt good”. And if some Democrat cronies benefit, so much the better. 🙂

Can I have an Order of Fear & Freeloaders, Please…

A Michigan man who won $2 million in a state lottery game continues to collect food stamps 11 months after striking it rich.

And there’s nothing the state can do about it, at least for now.

Leroy Fick, 59, of Auburn won $2 million in the state lottery TV show “Make Me Rich!” last June. But the state’s Department of Human Services determined he was still eligible for food stamps, Fick’s attorney, John Wilson of Midland, said Tuesday.

Eligibility for food stamps is based on gross income and follows federal guidelines; lottery winnings are considered liquid assets and don’t count as income. As long as Fick’s gross income stays below the eligibility requirement for food stamps, he can receive them, even if he has a million dollars in the bank.

Food stamps are paid for through tax dollars and are meant to help support low-income families.

“If you’re going to try to make me feel bad, you’re not going to do it,” Fick told WNEM-TV in Saginaw on Monday.

After all, he’s “entitled”. As I have said before and will say again, Liberals are the greediest, most self-centered because they feel the most entitled to other people’s money.

Oh, and if you disagree with Liberals on this Grandma is going to be thrown off a cliff (that’s coming later on in this blog).

Then there are the frauds. Like AARP.

“I think I’m scheduled to get my AARP card in a couple of years?” President Barack Obama asked today.

“Anytime you want one,” the organization told him. “Platinum.”

Obama at AARP.jpg

The stage was set at AARP, the powerful Washington-based lobby for senior Americans, for Obama to host another “town hall” forum on healthcare reform, where the president allowed that both he and his wife Michelle have “living wills” drafted but hope they don’t have to use them anytime soon.

“If you have insurance that you like, you will be able to keep that insurance,” Obama said of the healthcare reforms that he is pursuing on Capitol Hill. “Nobody is trying to change what works.” (Obama 2009)

They were a massive supporter of ObamaCare.

Now they get a waiver for their MediGap insurance. Their main rival, Medical Advantage gets savaged by ObamaCare.

Effectively, AARP is no longer a senior advocacy group, but just another “evil” “greedy” insurance company. But since they are in bed with Obama and the Liberals, that’s ok.

Their moral outrage is selective.

The Daily Caller has learned that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) rate review rules, which it finalized on Thursday, exempt “Medigap” policy providers, like the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), from oversight when such providers increase payment rates for their supplemental insurance plans.

Insurance providers who aren’t exempt from Obamacare’s rate review rules are required to publicly release and explain some health care payment rate increases.

The AARP is the nation’s biggest seller of Medigap policies, or supplemental healthcare plans that add onto what Medicare won’t cover for seniors. The senior citizens interest group advocated for Obamacare to include an attack on Medigap policies’ biggest competitor, Medicare Advantage.

Though the White House and HHS dismiss allegations of political favoritism when it comes to who’s getting exceptions from the new health care regulations – such as in the recent uproar over the disproportionate number of Obamacare waivers that went to companies in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s district — Obamacare critics say the mere appearance of the administration helping friends is disturbing.

The appearance of favoritism exists with the new AARP exemptions, too. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Sens. John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, and Max Baucus, Montana Democrat, wrote to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius last October asking her not to do what HHS just finalized today – that is exempt Medigap policies from rate increase oversight.underwriter

“While Medicare Advantage premiums are declining, we are hearing disturbing stories from beneficiaries across the country about excessive premium increases for Medigap supplemental insurance policies,” Reid, Baucus and Kerry wrote to Sebelius on Oct. 6.

“For example, some beneficiaries enrolled in the United of Omaha Life Insurance Company will see their Medigap premiums increase by approximately 40 percent between 2010 and 2011,” the letter read. “An increase of this magnitude raises serious concerns about premium-setting practices and rate review procedures in place for Medigap policies.”

Instead of listening to three top Senate Democrats, the Obama administration decided to go ahead anyway with the Medigap exceptions from rate increase reviews.

The AARP was a driving force behind getting Obamacare through Congress, contributing a large sum to the $121 million advertising campaign pushing it, and spending millions more lobbying for it on Capitol Hill.

The senior citizen advocacy organization stands to make huge profits from Medicare Advantage cuts and from the exemptions it will benefit from when it comes to the Medigap plans sold under what AARP CEO A. Barry Rand calls the AARP’s “for-profit side.”

The AARP’s support of Obamacare during the debate over the legislation raised lots of eyebrows nationwide, as President Obama called for $313 billion in cuts to Medicare to push the plan through. Seniors weren’t happy about it, and many ripped AARP representatives at town hall meetings nationwide.

Now, though, it’s clear that the AARP is set to make millions, if not billions, of extra dollars in Medigap plan sales moving forward because they’ve effectively knocked out their biggest competitor, Medicare Advantage, through Obamacare. (DC)

AARP aided and abetted Democrats’ efforts to inflict a disastrous bill on an unwilling public.  They now stand to profit from the resulting law — while simultaneously receiving convenient exemptions from provisions that may hurt their bottom line.  Ed Morrissey pens the appropriate response to this outrageous report:  “If the AARP and the labor unions that backed ObamaCare need waivers from its consequences, then we all do.”  Amen.  I’ll leave you with this delightful AARP/Obama walk down memory lane.  This clip still makes my blood boil:
Update from AARP: “To be clear, AARP is a non-partisan, non-profit organization with a membership. While there are insurance products that carry the AARP name, they are underwritten by insurers such as Delta Dental, UnitedHealth Group, and Aetna and others—not AARP.  We work to ensure those products meet our standards and provide value to our members.

And, NATO is the US so the US didn’t attack Libya…right….. 😦
Oh and if you disagree with them, Grandma is going off a cliff…
Democrats continue to try to scare seniors with a new anti-GOP Medicare ad that shows “Grandma” getting thrown off a cliff and then asks, “Is America beautiful without Medicare?”

Welcome to the land of the freeloaders and the home of the depraved. No image captures America’s regressive ethos better than that of 30-year-old Stanley Thornton Jr., self-proclaimed “Adult Baby.” Profiled on a recent National Geographic reality television show, Thornton claims to suffer from a bizarre infantilism that leads him to wear diapers, lounge around in an oversized crib and seek constant coddling.

The nappies may be extreme, but let’s face it: Thornton Jr. — let’s just call him Junior — is a symptom of our Nanny State run amok, not an anomaly.

Junior came to Washington’s attention this week when Oklahoma GOP Sen. Tom Coburn challenged the Social Security Administration to probe into how the baby bottle-guzzling 350-pound man qualified for federal disability benefits. A former security guard, Junior is handy enough to have crafted his own wooden high chair and playpen.

Junior can drive a car and has sense enough not to go out in public in his XXL footie pajamas. Yet, welfare administrators treat him as an incurable dependent. Also collecting taxpayer-subsidized paychecks: Thornton’s adult roommate, a former nurse, who has indulged Thornton’s baby role-playing for the past decade.

Junior, naturally, threw a tantrum when his government teat-sucking was called into question. He wiped his nose and un-balled his fists long enough to type out an e-mail to The Washington Times: “You wanna test how damn serious I am about leaving this world, screw with my check that pays for this apartment and food. Try it. See how serious I am. I don’t care,” Junior threatened. “I have no problem killing myself. Take away the last thing keeping me here, and see what happens. Next time you see me on the news, it will be me in a body bag.”

Not from nowhere has this stubborn, self-destructive sense of entitlement sprung. As I reported last month, a record-breaking 12 million Americans have been added to the federal food stamp rolls over the past two years, and the bloated $6 billion AmeriCorps social justice army has been converted into a publicist corps for the welfare machine.

Just this week, a Michigan man boasted that he’s still collecting food stamps after winning a $2 million government-sponsored lottery prize. “If you’re going to … try to make me feel bad, you aren’t going to do it,” he told a local TV reporter. Embedded in his rebuke is the eternal refrain of the self-esteem-puffed teenager: “You can’t judge me!”

Diana West, author of “The Death of the Grown-Up,” traced the modern abdication of adulthood to the Baby Boomer generation. “The common compass of the past — the urge to grow up and into long pants; to be old enough to dance at the ball (amazingly enough, to the music adults danced to); to assume one’s rights and responsibilities — completely disappeared” after World War II. A culture of behavioral restraint gave way to “anything goes” and morphed into the current generation’s “whatever” attitude.

Look around: Junior’s infantilism is of a piece with the refusal of celebrity mothers Dina Lohan and Tish Cyrus to act like parents — and instead serve as best friends and tattoo parlor pals for their wayward daughters Lindsay and Miley. They’re the kind of women who shop at Forever 21, buy beer for their daughters’ prom parties and give them Botox certificates for high school graduation.

Junior’s penchant for pajamas is of a piece with perpetually stunted Hugh Hefner’s fetish for velvet robes 24/7 and self-indulgent decadence. Junior’s giant playpen is a cringe-inducing symbol of the Farmville-tethered, “funemployed” class of self-gratifiers who continue to live for today and spend like there’s no tomorrow.

Adult Baby Syndrome isn’t an isolated pathology. It’s the new American Way. Or, I should say, the new American Wahhhhh. (Michelle Malkin)

On issue after issue, Republicans are putting forward serious, sober and often politically risky solutions (if sometimes a bit weak kneed) to the nation’s most pressing problems, while Democrats play class-warfare games and stoke the public’s fear.

Oh, and today was supposed to be the end of the world… 🙂

A New Waiver Class: A State!

The federal government Tuesday granted Maine a waiver of a key provision in President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, citing the likelihood that enforcement could destabilize the state’s market for individual health insurance.

The U.S. Health and Human Services department said in a letter it would waive the requirement that insurers spend 80 cents to 85 cents of every premium dollar on medical care and quality improvement. Instead, the letter said, the state could maintain its 65 percent standard for three years, with the caveat that HHS intends to review the figures after two years. (Just after Obama’s hope-for re-election! :))

And this wouldn’t happen to have anything to do with the fact that Maine has to RINO Senators, now could it?? 🙂

The decision makes Maine the first state to receive a waiver of the requirement. Similar requests are pending from Kentucky, Nevada and New Hampshire.

Thing is, this will happen in every state. But that was the plan. So this is obviously a political move.

35% of Wages go to Entitlements and Non-Producers

Government payouts—including Social Security, Medicare and unemployment insurance—make up more than a third of total wages and salaries of the U.S. population, a record figure that will only increase if action isn’t taken before the majority of Baby Boomers enter retirement.

Even as the economy has recovered, social welfare benefits make up 35 percent of wages and salaries this year, up from 21 percent in 2000 and 10 percent in 1960, according to TrimTabs Investment Research using Bureau of Economic Analysis data.

“The U.S. economy has become alarmingly dependent on government stimulus,” said Madeline Schnapp, director of Macroeconomic Research at TrimTabs, in a note to clients. “Consumption supported by wages and salaries is a much stronger foundation for economic growth than consumption based on social welfare benefits.”

The economist gives the country two stark choices. In order to get welfare back to its pre-recession ratio of 26 percent of pay, “either wages and salaries would have to increase $2.3 trillion, or 35 percent, to $8.8 trillion, or social welfare benefits would have to decline $500 billion, or 23 percent, to $1.7 trillion,” she said.

Social welfare benefits have increased by $514 billion over the last two years, according to TrimTabs figures, in part because of measures implemented to fight the financial crisis.

And the measures implemented to buy votes.

Government spending normally takes on a larger part of the spending pie during economic calamities but how can the country change this make-up with the root of the crisis (housing) still on shaky ground, benchmark interest rates already cut to zero, and a demographic shift that calls for an increase in subsidies?

At the very least, we can take solace in the fact that we’re not quite at the state welfare levels of Europe. In the U.K., social welfare benefits make up 44 percent of wages and salaries, according to TrimTabs’ Schnapp.

Except there is a big difference. Europe is doing something about its runaway spending. The US is not.

And “entitled” don’t want to give up some of their greed, especially not Unions.

So if you have 35% of wages earned going to Entitlements. You have 47% of people not paying any taxes anyhow and you have a record number of people on Food Stamps  and 78 more Million people to retire and expect to be “entitled” then you have a meltdown in progress!!

The IRS reports that 100,000 federal civilian employees are seriously delinquent on their federal taxes. These aren’t just people who fell behind. These are people who have actively defied IRS letters and phone calls seeking payment. In 2009, the US government failed to collect $1 billion a year from federal employees alone.

But get out of line with ObamaCare and they’ll crush you like the bug you are!

And you know what were up against:

“The National Endowment of the Humanities is the reason we have in northern Nevada every January a cowboy poetry festival. Had that program not been around, the tens of thousands of people who come there every year would not exist.”

It just happens to be in, surprise!!! Elko, Nevada! Harry’s home state. Gee, that’s a coincidence!! 🙂

Faced with the threat of losing funding from the federal government, National Public Radio (NPR) CEO Vivian Schiller defended the news outlet’s use of taxpayer money in a speech Monday, and brushed off criticism of bias as “perception.”

Calling government funding the “cornerstone of public media,” Schiller said NPR was “too critical to give up.”

Taxpayer funding is about 10% of their budget.

Don’t cut my pork, fat, waste, and abuse. Not in Backyard!

The screaming and whining and kicking like a 2 year having an unholy tantrum meltdown in the toy aisle of Wal-Mart has only just begun.

But we will be “green” even if it kills us!!

Anyone who understands basic economics already knows that President Obama’s $2.3 billion green-jobs initiative was snake oil. Now, thanks to Kenneth P. Green, we have statistics as well as theory to prove it.

In a new article, “The Myth of Green Energy Jobs: The European Experience,” the environmental scientist and a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute writes, “Green programs in Spain destroyed 2.2 jobs for every green job created, while the capital needed for one green job in Italy could create almost five jobs in the general economy.”

Ironically, Obama boasts his initiative “will help close the clean-energy gap between America and other nations.” But Green says, “(C)ountries are cutting these programs because they realize they aren’t sustainable and they are obscenely expensive.”

Obama claims that if we “invest” more, “the transition to clean energy has the potential to grow our economy and create millions of jobs — but only if we accelerate that transition.”

What could make more sense? A little push from the smart politicians and — voila! — we can have an abundance of new good-paying jobs and a cleaner, sustainable environment. It’s the ultimate twofer.

Except it’s an illusion, as economic logic demonstrates.

“It is well understood, among economists, that governments do not ‘create’ jobs,” Green writes. “The willingness of entrepreneurs to invest their capital, paired with consumer demand for goods and services, does that. All the government can do is subsidize some industries while jacking up costs for others. In the green case, it is destroying jobs in the conventional energy sector — and most likely in other industrial sectors — through taxes and subsidies to new green companies that will use taxpayer dollars to undercut the competition. The subsidized jobs ‘created’ are, by definition, less efficient uses of capital than market-created jobs.”

Green is using good, solid economic thinking. Many years ago, Henry Hazlitt wrote in his bestseller, “Economics in One Lesson,” “The art of economics consists in looking not merely at the immediate but at the longer effects of any act or policy; it consists in tracing the consequences of that policy not merely for one group but for all groups.”

In judging any government initiative, such as Obama’s green-jobs plan, you can’t look just at the credit side of ledger because the government is unable to give without first taking away.

Worse than that: Inevitably, more is taken away — destroyed — than is given because the government substitutes force and taxation for consent and free exchange. Instead of a process driven by consumer preferences, we get one imposed by politicians’ grand social designs. It’s what F.A. Hayek called “the fatal conceit.”

So we shouldn’t be surprised that green-jobs programs make energy more expensive. “(F)orcing green energy on the market (is) much, much more expensive,” Green said. “Using Spain as a model, when you do the math, you realize that creating 3 million new green jobs could cost $2.25 trillion.”

Of course, many people who push “green jobs” want the price of energy to rise so we’ll use less. If the environmental lobby wants Americans to be poorer, it ought to come clean about that.

The advocates of such programs don’t just misunderstand economics. They have lapsed into a pre-economic mentality. Rulers once believed they could do whatever they wanted, subject only to the physical laws of nature. If things didn’t work out as planned, it was because the people had failed to cooperate. But as economist Ludwig von Mises wrote, once economics emerged as an intellectual discipline, “it was learned that in the social realm too there is something operative which power and force are unable to alter and to which they must adjust themselves if they hope to achieve success … .”

That “something” is inescapable economic forces like the law of supply and demand.

Green is right when he says, “Central planners in the United States trying to promote green industry will fare no better (than Europe) at creating jobs or stimulating the economy.” (John Stossel)

But the environmentalist apparatchiks and Obama will “feel good” and that’s vastly more important than reality after all! 🙂

Some more Collective Bargaining Gems:

1. A Wausau public employee union filed a grievance to prohibit a local volunteer from serving as a school crossing guard.  The 86-year-old lives just two blocks away and serves everyday free of charge.

Principal Steve Miller says, “He said, you know, this gives me a reason to get up in the morning to come and help these kids in the neighborhood.”

But for a local union that represents crossing guards, it isn’t that simple.  Representatives didn’t want to go on camera but say if a crossing guard is needed, then one should be officially hired by the city.

2. Some state employees, due to the nature of their positions, are required to carry pagers during off-duty hours in order to respond to emergency situations.  Due to the collective bargaining agreements, these employees are compensated an extra five hours of pay each week, whether they are paged or not.

Cost: $6,000 a year per person.

3. ‘Outstanding First Year Teacher’ Laid Off

Milwaukee Public Schools teacher Megan Sampson was laid off less than one week after being named Outstanding First Year Teacher by the Wisconsin Council of English Teachers.  She lost her job because the collective bargaining agreement requires layoffs to be made based on seniority rather than merit.

In June 2010 , long before Scott Walker was elected, Milwaukee Public Schools fired 482 teachers–including Megan Sampson, a young educator named an “outstanding first year teacher” by the Wisconsin Council of Teachers of English.

Sampson and 481 other teachers were laid off for two reasons having to do with collective bargaining:

Informed that her union had rejected a lower-cost health care plan, that still would have required zero contribution from teachers, Sampson said, “Given the opportunity, of course I would switch to a different plan to save my job, or the jobs of 10 other teachers.

4. Under the Green Bay School District’s collectively bargained Emeritus Program, teachers can retire and receive a year’s worth of salary for working only 30 days over a three year period.  This is paid in addition to their already guaranteed pension and health care payouts.

5. In 2009, the City of Madison’s highest paid employee was a bus driver who earned $159,258, including $109,892 in overtime, guaranteed by a collective bargaining agreement.  In total, seven City of Madison bus drivers made more than $100,000 per year in 2009.

“That’s the (drivers’) contract,” said Transit and Parking Commission Chairman Gary Poulson.

But don’t worry, you’re just a mean, old, nasty, Robber-Baron, middle-class destroying  arsehole if you object to it!

And Al Sharpton will call you a “racist” and Michael Moore will just tell you it the “rich” people’s fault! (meanwhile both are filthy rich themselves)

What About Ideas & Solutions?

Political Cartoons by Lisa Benson
First off, a bit of news and information:
Food stamp usage indicates that in December those receiving an average of $134 per month has just hit 44.1 million people.
In other words, America is now the land of the free, home of the brave, of whom 14.3% can’t afford to eat, even with all the new jobs created.
47% of people don’t pay taxes at all.
7% are Public Sector Union Members (All Unions are 12% total workforce) but they are being magnified by the Liberal media to be everyone.
And there are forecasts for another 15-25% drop in the housing market.
But yet, they are entitled. And making any cuts will turn today’s kids into tomorrow’s criminals, according to the Left’s latest fear-that-is-not-fearmongering.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) on MSDNC:
“I was at a childcare center in my district, Monday and literally stood with moms who who when they lose their childcare, they’re going to have to stop working. They’re not going to be able to send their kids to school and they won’t get an early childhood education. And we know that cuts like that will directly lead to kids becoming criminals later on. We know there’s that direct proportional relationship. So we’ve got to make sure the cuts are the right cuts as well.”
Cogent <Research>  found that only 20% of plans can meet their financial obligations to plan participants. The deficit is due mainly to union and public pension plans: Only 10% and 12%, respectively, reported a current funding status of 95% or greater. A majority (54%) of public pensions said their current funding status is below 80%, and 16% had a current funding status below 60%.

As for the Media:

Only 1 out of 24 network evening stories about the Wisconsin “feud” since Feb. 16, reported a critical number relating to union pensions: $1 trillion. That’s the huge deficit facing public workers’ pensions in America and the reason Walker and other state governors are facing tough choices including demanding public workers contribute more.

ABC’s Barbara Pinto reported on the “looming crisis” on “World News” Feb. 21, the sixth night of coverage. Pinto said: “[P]ension plans for America’s public workers that are underfunded by at least a trillion dollars. Finance professor Joshua Rauh thinks the debt could be at least three times as much.”

She then quoted Rauh who said, “The only people who can pay for this are current taxpayers, future taxpayers, public employees, if their benefits are cut.” (MRC)

So the media doesn’t want to talk about reality. They want to talk about saving their agenda. Remember, Public Sector Unions make up 7% of the workforce and the media makes it sound like Armageddon is coming.
Armageddon is coming, but the media is ignoring it!!!
But don’t worry, be whiny…

Just how serious is the administration?

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. walked out of Thursday’s high-stakes negotiations to stop a government shutdown and said the conversations will continue — but he won’t actually be part of them since he leaves this weekend for major negotiations with European leaders.

President Obama on Wednesday tapped Mr. Biden, his “sheriff” on the stimulus, to lead negotiations with Congress, though Mr. Biden already had a prearranged trip scheduled to visit Finland, Russia and Moldova next week.

Sure I always put the guy who’s going on off for a week in charge of a 2 week do-or-die strategy meeting!!

Oh, and the Democrats are measuring their “cuts” against the 2010 Budget they refused to pass last year!!

God Help us all!

*********************************************************************

So Let’s Talk Ideas for a moment:

Today, the federal government spends almost $10 billion per day. That’s money we simply do not have. Reckless spending and reduced revenues from the economic recession have produced the largest deficits in U.S. history — $1.4 trillion in 2009 and $1.5 trillion in 2010. That means almost $3 trillion has been added to the nation’s total debt in just two years.

Based on current spending levels, the public debt will total $20 trillion by 2020. That’s $20,000,000,000,000.

The federal government pays over $600 million in interest payments every working day. By 2020, when the public debt is $20 trillion, the annual interest payment will be almost $1 trillion — the largest single item in the entire federal budget.

That means that more will be spent on paying the interest on the debt than on our children’s education or our nation’s defense.

What is the One Cent Solution?

The One Cent Solution is simple: If the government cuts one cent out of every dollar of its total spending each year for five years, we can:

  • Balance the budget by 2018.
  • Reduce the debt by $2.6 trillion. That’s $2,600,000,000,000.
  • Restore America’s financial future.
One Cent Solution founder Bruce Cook offers a solution to the national debt crisis

The One Cent Solution envisions that while all areas of federal spending should be considered, some programs may be too critical to cut deeply. In that case, other programs must be reduced more so that the total amount cut is equal to one cent for every dollar each year for five years.

For a simple example, let’s say the federal budget only had three programs funded, each with an annual budget of just $1.00.

  1. Program A is simply cut by one cent every year for five years. That means the annual budget for Program A is $0.99 in 2012, and then $0.98, $0.97, $0.96, and finally $0.95.
  2. However, no cuts may be recommended for Program B. It is already lean.
  3. But then, Program C would have to be cut by two cents each year for five years so that the total federal budget is cut by one cent for every total dollar, for a balanced budget by 2018.

The One Cent Solution contains three key distinctive elements.

The Three Keys

1. A Plan that Works

The One Cent Solution gradually reduces total government spending by making cuts equal to one cent of every dollar each year for five years. This simple solution balances the budget by 2018, reduces the debt by $2.6 trillion and restores America’s financial future.

2. Legislative Strategy

To achieve the necessary spending reductions, the One Cent Solution calls for legislation that would impose strict caps on total government spending. Congress would be required to enact reforms to all spending programs, either by creating a special Commission or by the “regular order” of business, working through the appropriate committee structures. Although some programs may be cut more than 1% and some less, total government spending must be cut by 1% each year for five years. If Congress fails to enact the needed reforms, then the legislation would require mandatory, “across the board” 1% spending cuts to bring spending reductions into line with the One Cent Solution requirements.

Last year, President Obama created a debt commission to recommend spending cuts and tax increases. Little agreement was reached, and no action has been taken. The One Cent Solution is different. Here’s how:

Commission Comparison

3. Public Support

As citizens, we must own the problem. It’s just not right for us to pass on this debt to our children and grandchildren. Tough decisions are ahead. The key to balancing the budget and reducing the national debt is you.

If we sign on 1 million citizens with representation from every congressional district, we can get Congress to focus on this solution and give them the political will to act. The One Cent Solution is a true American grassroots movement, started by citizens who believe good ideas can originate outside of Washington.

Through the One Cent Solution campaign, we are not only insisting upon action, we are providing a nonpartisan, simple, equitable way to get the job done.

Become the solution.

Why not try simple and fair 🙂

It’s got to be better than over-complicated and political. No favoritism.

Just hard choices.

I’ve never said that cutting federal spending won’t be difficult, but making difficult decisions is what we elected our members of Congress to do, and we need them to act now to avoid disaster later. The One Cent Solution provides some flexibility in arriving at our target of cutting one cent out of every federal dollar spent, each year for five years, but as cuts are considered, everything must be on the table. I say that because, as Politico has pointed out below, many people think that we can achieve adequate savings by cutting waste, fraud and abuse…or going after defense spending.

I agree with those objectives, but spending will have to be widespread to be effective. Read on to see how popular belief and reality can part ways.

Misconception: 63 percent believe the federal government spends more on defense and foreign aid than it does on Medicare and Social Security. (Source: Tarrance Group, February 22-24, 2011)

Reality: “In fiscal 2010, spending for those two social programs totaled more than $1.1 trillion, while the Pentagon’s budget was about $660 billion and the State Department’s total spending was just under $52 billion.” (Source: Politico)

Misconception: 60 percent believe problems with the federal budget can be fixed by just eliminating waste, fraud and abuse. (Source: Tarrance Group, February 22-24, 2011)

Reality: “The Government Accountability Office on Tuesday released a report detailing several billion dollars’ worth of “duplication” in government spending that could be cut. But even if the totals reach the tens of billions of dollars, they would still be a drop in the bucket of President Obama’s proposed $3.73 trillion in spending for fiscal 2012.” (Source: Politico)

The General Accounting Office released a report yesterday that identifies an estimated $100 million to $200 million in duplicative spending. Imagine: we have 82 federal programs to improve teacher quality! Considering we just found hundreds of millions of dollars under the U.S. couch cushions, I am more convinced than ever that Congress can reduce each federal dollar spent by one penny each year for the next five years — cuts that lead to a balanced budget and $2.6 trillion of debt relief without raising taxes.

School districts had total expenditures of approximately $562.3 billion in 2006–07, including about $476.8 billion in current expenditures for public elementary and secondary education. Of the remaining expenditures, $62.9 billion was spent on capital outlay, $14.7 billion on interest payments on debt, and $7.8 billion on other programs (programs such as community services and adult education, which are not a part of public elementary and secondary education). SOURCE: U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics. (2010).

But yet we have illiterate and uninformed students graduating and we have Unions with unfunded mandates that stretch into the Trillions of dollars.

Do you think there’s a problem here?

The Fight for 2012 Begins Today

To those who say that the House Vote to repeal ObamaCare is a waste I say, a journey of a 1000 days starts with but a single step.

But ultimately, the best chance is the US Supreme Court.

ObamaCare is Unconstitutional. It’s just that the Democrats  and the Liberal Media don’t care.

And why do I say the campaign starts now.

Because the “grandma will be homeless” “children starving in the streets” “you’ll be eating dog food” kinda of liberal hysteria has ratcheted up again.

Polls are being released AGAIN, showing how much people love ObamaCare and don’t want it repealed. 😦

Perhaps it’s no surprise that on the same day Obama announced his Executive Order — and the day before the House of Representatives is expected to vote on a repeal of Obamacare (except for the Tucson shooting delay) — the Department of Health and Human Services released a study subtitled “129 million people could be denied affordable coverage” without Obamacare because of pre-existing conditions. (American Spectator)

So someone wind up Andy Griffith!!

If the Democrats weren’t worried they wouldn’t be trotting out the usual time-tested “fear” campaigns.

And yes, the fight is going to be long and hard and depends on Obama not being re-elected so you can bet the Democrats and their Liberal Media Ministry of Truth will have the full on 24/7 FEAR and MANIPULATION campaign going from now until 2 years from now.

So buckle up. The Socialists aren’t giving up without a major trench warfare. And just like last time they will fight till your last breath to save their Golden Goose of Utopia.

And it won’t be “civil”. 🙂

UNIONS, THE CHICAGO WAY  OR ELSE!

Labor unions give more money to the Democratic Party than any other source, and critics have long accused President Barack Obama’s administration of doing their bidding.  Now there is evidence that the White House has indeed put its thumb on the scale on behalf of unions. After saying that “union jobs are, by and large, good jobs,” the Department of Labor’s “strategic plan” for the next five years says: “many of the Department’s outcome goals are furthered by high rates of union membership.”

Don Todd, Americans for Limited Government’s head of research and a former DOL agency head under George W. Bush, told The Daily Caller that the Obama administration wants to “shame” companies into unionizing.

“In a worst-case scenario, your union organizer comes to you, offers you a deal to unionize, you say, ‘no,’ and, the next thing you know, OSHA’s [Occupational Safety and Health Administration] at your door,” Todd said in a phone interview. “Then, Wage and Hour show up, and they want to publicize it. They always find something wrong – it’s like with bed-checks in boot camp in the army.”

Todd said some companies will fight the DOL’s intimidation tactics, but many will give in to unionizing forces.

“It makes it the path of least resistance,” Todd said.

The current Solicitor of Labor, Patricia Smith, specialized in that kind of corporate intimidation when she served in a similar position in New York’s Department of Labor. Senate Republicans strongly opposed Smith’s appointment to her current post for that reason. In New York, Smith set up a neighborhood watch-style system for monitoring and investigating wage and hour violations by companies.

Former union executives and confidants are leading almost every agency within the DOL, including, but not limited to, John Lund, who has deep ties to the AFL-CIO, Craig Becker, who has worked with the AFL-CIO and the SEIU, and Joe Main, who had worked for the United Mine Workers of America.

Smith and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis recently released the DOL’s “Strategic Plan” for 2011 through 2016, in which they link the recent economic recession and the recently high unemployment numbers with the decline in private sector union membership. (This being the same dingbat that wanted Illegal Aliens to call her if they were being oppressed by their boss!!)

Holis has made the case publicly that unionization is a good thing as it is the only way workers get “higher wages,” “good jobs” and “flexibility and benefits like paid leave, childcare and education assistance.”

“It’s not enough to have fair wages and a safe workplace — workers also need a voice on the job! Some people say that, given the state of the economy, we can’t afford unions right now,” Holis said in a September 2009 speech to the AFL-CIO. “They’ve got it backwards. Today unions are more important than ever. Workers are facing unprecedented challenges, and they need the voice on the job that unions provide.”

DOL is pushing unionization by turning the fraud investigation arms of the Department of Labor into intimidation tools. Todd said DOL’s enforcement arms repeatedly audit and investigate businesses that refuse to unionize. They demand records of everything from Wage and Hour compliance to health and safety regulations, and won’t stop until the business they’re targeting unionizes.

Another way the Obama administration helps unions is by overloading the arms of the DOL that normally fight union fraud. The Obama administration, for instance, doubled the duties of the Office of Labor and Management Standards (OLMS). OLMS historically has been used primarily for investigating labor union fraud, but since Obama took office, OLMS is also charged with dealing with “whistleblower” complaints, or complaints from employees all over the country about companies that aren’t following safety requirements. That used to be handled by OSHA.

Another thing the DOL is doing in what appears to be an effort to weaken union investigations is shifting many career employees out of OLMS and into other, non-investigative agencies that pose no immediate threat to union survival. Todd said that’s the only explanation for shifting the employees he and previous administrations spent years training to different jobs.

“They’re moving people out of OLMS over to places like Wage and Hour, which is a waste of all the training they received in prosecuting and investigating union misconduct,” Todd said in a phone interview. “In the time that I was there, we convicted close to 1,000 union officers and employees. That was not for unfair practices – that was for stealing from members.”

Todd said he thinks it’s more likely that union leadership would rather “suffer from the thefts than from the bad publicity they’d get from investigations and convictions” of union members and leaders.

“The Obama Department of Labor is being organized to push a pro-union agenda without regard to the welfare of the worker,” Rick Manning, a spokesman for Americans for Limited Government, told TheDC. (The Daily Caller)

More Unions. More Democratic Party Money. More money for underfunded lavish pensions estimated to be short $2 Trillion dollars.

RICHMOND, Va. – A power struggle is unfolding in Virginia over climate change research.

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has been taking the University of Virginia to court to get information on a climate change researcher who once worked at the school.

Now several members of the State Assembly say they’ve had enough and have introduced legislation to rein in Cuccinelli’s investigation.

Cuccinelli, a global warming skeptic, is looking into whether UVA professor Michael Mann manipulated data to show that there has been a rapid, recent rise in the Earth’s temperature.

Democratic Sens. Donald McEachin of Henrico and Chap Petersen of Fairfax County say their bills won’t give blanket immunity to colleges to defraud the state, but they would curb politically motivated probes.

McEachin and Petersen, both lawyers, said Cuccinelli had abused the authority the office obtained under a 2002 law.

Their legislation would force Cuccinelli to sue and obtain subpoenas as is required of other civil litigation. This would afford defendants the right to defend themselves.

So the global warming frauds want to hide their deception. Gee, no one saw that coming.

So if the Democrats were in power to run “politically motivated” investigations would they be so concerned??

No.

Just like the Democrats using the Tucson tragedy for their own political purposes (and deriding anyone who says they are) . Last week, using the non-radio-inspired Tucson massacre as fuel, the National Hispanic Media Coalition called on the FCC to gather evidence for the left’s preconceived conclusion that conservative talk radio “hate speech” causes violence. It’s Red Queen science — sentence first, research validation later.

The movement “is grounded in the belief that social and economic justice will not be realized without the equitable redistribution and control of media and communication technologies.” But, hey, we better just ignore these communications control freaks lest we be accused of suffering a “persecution complex.” (Michelle Malkin)

So just like Global warming, it’s political goals first, actual science, compassion or civility, later.

Much, Much Later!

Obama also puts on his newly acquired pro-capitalism mask when talking about the sheer burden of regulation:

We’re also getting rid of absurd and unnecessary paperwork requirements that waste time and money. We’re looking at the system as a whole to make sure we avoid excessive, inconsistent and redundant regulation. And finally, today I am directing federal agencies to do more to account for — and reduce — the burdens regulations may place on small businesses. Small firms drive growth and create most new jobs in this country. We need to make sure nothing stands in their way.

Unfortunately, despite the laudable sentiment contained in the president’s words, it’s difficult to take Obama 2.0 seriously. In particular, is the American public, especially our entrepreneurs, supposed to sing the praises of Obama’s claimed conversion from class warfare redistributionist to proto-capitalist while his signature “accomplishment,” commonly known as Obamacare, is the single biggest small-business-killing piece of legislation in generations? (American Spectator)

I would say Obama and the Democrats words are hollow, cynical, and manipulative.

There actions needs speak louder than their words.

And right now all I see is a guy trying to get re-elected.

Nothing else.

Political Cartoon by Eric Allie

REAL or Just Memo-RINO-rex??
While listening to music on my I-phone, I began to contemplate the upcoming mid-term elections. The rock band, The Who sang: “I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution/Take a bow for the new revolution/Smile and grin at the change all around me/Pick up my guitar and play/Just like yesterday/And I’ll get on my knees and pray/We don’t get fooled again”

It struck me that the words could be an anthem for a new political generation. Of course, they might also be a prescient warning for voters casting ballots on November second.

As Election Day approaches, there is a feeling of excitement among conservatives. Republicans are poised to take control of both houses of Congress. As of this writing, both the Gallup and Rasmussen polls have Republicans holding a commanding double-digit lead among likely voters. There is even speculation that Republicans could win as many as 100 seats in the House of Representatives and 12 seats in the Senate.

Pardon me if, like Chris Matthews, I do not have a tingling sensation running up my leg at the prospect of Republican victory in November. Perhaps I would feel differently if Republicans had done something to earn victory in November. Alas, being the only alternative to an over-reaching, liberal congress and a president who is out of touch (and seemingly in over his head) is no great accomplishment. Yes, Republicans have stood in the way of Democratic hubris, as they should have. They are the opposition party and shouldn’t get brownie points for doing their job.

Certainly, I am not alone in recalling that it was the “me too” Republicans who increased federal regulation of public education, gave us the largest new entitlement program in a generation, failed to reform government entitlements, voted to pass the TARP, and were on the verge of giving us “comprehensive immigration reform” before saner minds steps to the fore. It was a big government president that arrogantly announced that he was abandoning free-market principles in order to save the free-market. Given their recent track record, it is unclear why the political right believes a Republican led Congress will be any more fiscally responsible than the previous Republican led Congress. Oh, yes, there is the “Pledge to America,” which, of course, will make all the difference. What remains unclear is why there must be an official pledge in order for Republicans to behave like, well, Republicans. Just a few years ago many of these same Republicans were spending money like drunken sailors and spouting the big-government conservative mantra, “Deficits don’t matter!” Now, of course, in large part because of the Tea Party movement, Republicans have found fiscal religion, except that the same folks that brought us big-government conservatism are mostly the same folks behind this years GOP resurgence.

Perhaps the difference this year is the Tea Party; the power and activism of the grass-roots will keep Republicans honest. It may very well be that the Tea Party is the natural response to leftist attempts to transform America. However, I maintain that had Republicans eschewed big-government conservatism in favor of traditional conservatism, there would have been no need for Tea Party activism because President Obama would still be Senator Obama.

Contrary to what the New Left would have us believe, the Tea Party movement is not the white racist rejection of a black president. The Tea Party is a rejection of government over-reaching: bank bailouts, government ownership of automobile companies, government healthcare, government control of school loans, and government attempts to regulate the very air we breathe. The Tea Party movement is the American people shouting, “Enough is enough!” As such, the Tea Party is a terrific gadfly, but as the Obama administration has discovered, there is a difference between community organizing and governing. The Tea Party is not prepared to govern; the Republican Party is. The question is: “Will they?” And if so, “In what manner?”

Sorry, but the cynic in me simply isn’t getting that warm, fuzzy feeling. In my lifetime I have noticed a tendency for politicians of both of the major parties to feed the beast of government rather than slay it. Sure, they talk tough and make promises, but Washington seduces them into engaging in all manner of devilment.

The cynic in me is whispering in my ear that ObamaCare is here to stay. Republicans may tinker with it, snip a few pages here and there to hold up as trophies, but the beast is here to stay. The doubter in me is saying that no matter how many pledges the GOP writes, there will be no meaningful reform of our entitlement system. The beast will demand to be fed tax-dollars and it will get them with a cherry on top. The skeptic in me is certain that in a very short time the public will be treated to “climate legislation.” Sure, there will be a few stalwart conservatives willing to be martyrs for the cause, but they will be shouted down by the “me too” Republicans, who are all too eager to out-Democrat their Democrat colleagues.

So, what is the alternative? I suppose one could pull the lever for Democrats, but that seems an odd choice for a conservative to make. I have long held that to vote for the lesser of two evils, still results in a vote cast for evil. And yet, to vote for a third-party candidate with no chance of winning, only seems to empower the party that I would like to see out of office. It is little wonder that I continually find myself holding my nose, and falling to my knees to pray that “We don’t get fooled again.” (Joseph C. Phillips)

Meanwhile, at the “casted” MTV “Townhall”

The so-called “A Conversation with President Obama” will be live and commercial-free on six Viacom networks at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The networks will not give equal time to a Republican before the election, according to a spokeswoman.

MTV denies that the Obama hour of TV is political, despite the timing, weeks before the midterm elections.

“We’re not giving an hour of free time to the president to freely express his views. We’re hosting a town hall with 250 young people to ask questions of the president,”Viacom spokeswoman Kelly McAndrew said to HUMAN EVENTS.

“This is not a campaign appearance. This is a town hall discussion.”

Viacom is adamant that the across-the-board network airing of the Obama hour is not political, and therefore does not demand equal time for a Republican.

It was so much the 800-lb Gorilla in the room they had to deny it twice!

“We are not giving a full hour of free air time. We are hosting a town hall for 250 individuals to ask questions of the president of the United States,” the spokeswoman said repeatedly.

Yeah, whatever. I’m sure you believe that spin.
Evan Gassman (Human Events): The good news: President Obama is going to take questions from audience members at a live town hall event on Thursday, October 14. The bad news: You have absolutely no chance of being in the audience, and even if you did, your questions would be pre-screened and written for you.
Two of my colleagues were completely honest on their applications and listed themselves as “conservatives.” Unsurprisingly, they didn’t make the cut.
Well, they only want diverse Liberal opinions after all. Nothing else is worth their time and certainly isn’t intelligent enough for the oh-so-much-smarter-than-anyone-else narcissistic Liberals.
MTV Interviewer to Evan (screening process): “What whimsical question would you ask President Obama, like ‘What do you have on your iPod?’” the same woman asked. I tried to think of the dumbest possible question I could. “I would ask, ‘Mr. President, do you watch “Mad Men?”’ I think that’s an important question,” I responded, tongue-in-cheek.

“You’re not the first person to suggest that,” the woman said while writing my response down verbatim. “I like that question,” she added. In short, don’t be surprised if half of the MTV special is young people asking President Obama about his favorite breakfast cereal.

A Young America’s Foundation recent study found that the President speaks on high school and college campuses on an average of once every 12 days. An astroturfed and scripted town hall set to air on MTV is not a far cry from that trend. The President is only speaking to those who agree with him.

When you tune in Thursday evening, keep in mind that every single moment has been produced and every audience member is hand-picked. Nothing of value will come from this town hall. It is yet another publicity stunt from a President who is running out of ideas.

But the Liberals will hug it and squeeze it and call it “informative”.
What’s a Cynic like me to do… 🙂
Can someone pass me the Barf Bag…

Just Say NO!

MO Says NO!

Missouri voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly rejected a federal mandate to purchase health insurance, rebuking President Barack Obama’s administration and giving Republicans their first political victory in a national campaign to overturn the controversial health care law passed by Congress in March.

“The citizens of the Show-Me State don’t want Washington involved in their health care decisions,” said Sen. Jane Cunningham, R-Chesterfield, one of the sponsors of the legislation that put Proposition C on the August ballot. She credited a grass-roots campaign involving Tea Party and patriot groups with building support for the anti-Washington proposition.

With most of the vote counted, Proposition C was winning by a ratio of nearly 3 to 1. The measure, which seeks to exempt Missouri from the insurance mandate in the new health care law, includes a provision that would change how insurance companies that go out of business in Missouri liquidate their assets.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Cunningham said at a campaign gathering at a private home in Town and Country. “Citizens wanted their voices to be heard.”

Missouri was the first of four states to seek to opt out of the insurance purchase mandate portion of the health care law that had been pushed by Obama. And while many legal scholars question whether the vote will be binding, the overwhelming approval gives the national GOP momentum as Arizona, Florida and Oklahoma hold similar votes during midterm elections in November.(STL Today)

So it’s time for the Feds to Sue another State to enforce their Supremacy. 🙂

And then there’s Viriginia. Possible Arizona (again), Florida, and Oklahoma.

Texas and several other states have lawsuits pending against ObamaCare.

Pretty soon they’ll have to sue everyone to enforce their supremacy.

But that won’t be a Banana Republic Dictatorship now will it?  Oh no! :0

That will be Bush’s Fault! 🙂

THE STIMULUS

Remember that wunderkind of  Keynesian economics that would create millions of jobs and unemployment would not go above 8%??

Well,  not so much. There is now yet another report out on even more waste, fraud and abuse of that money. Big surprise there.

But don’t worry, ObamaCare will lower premiums, lower the deficit and foster world peace. Oh, and make your toast in the morning! 🙂

“Of course the recipients of these taxpayer dollars will complain and justify the reason for receiving these funds,” McCain said. “The question should be posed, how many jobs did this create? And obviously with these projects, little or none.”

And Remember, the signs touting these projects (like the 1 week project to repave the street near me) cost $10,000 each!

But for that week, there were jobs “saved or created”.

Rejoice!

White House Spokesperson Liz Oxhorn said the Obama administration will review the claims of the report, but it is not prepared to immediately accept the conclusion that these projects were misguided….this isn’t about partisan ‘reports’ or a single project – it’s about a choice between returning to the failed policies of the past or building on solutions like the Recovery Act that are moving America forward.”

Obama’s New Campaign slogan: It Could have been Worse– it could have been Bush! It’s all Bush’s Fault!

BUSH Made Me do it! 😦

Seriously!

So if you want to return to the Bush Doctrine, vote for Republicans.

It’s bloody August 2010, and the President has been in office now 19 months and the Democrats have controlled Congress from 3 1/2 years But it’s still Bush’s Fault!!! 😦

I hope you’re not dumb enough to fall for that. I known partisan Democrats are, there’s no hope for them.

“Eighteen months since the passage of the stimulus bill, millions of jobs are still gone and the economy is as uncertain as ever. The only thing getting a boost is our national debt. The stimulus has helped push it 23 percent higher, to $13.2 trillion, a new record.”

But remember, that’s all Bush’s Fault!  You wouldn’t want a repeat of Bush’s Fault by voting out Democrats in November now would you? 🙂

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was asked for a reaction. Here’s his exchange with a reporter:
REPORTER: Do you think it’s a credible report?
MR. GIBBS:  From what I’ve read, no.

So what are some of these dream jobs:

There’s $4.7 million for Lockheed Martin to study supersonic corporate jet travel. More than $210,000 for the National Institutes of Health to study the sex lives of college students. And roughly $233,000 for California college students to conduct exit polls in Africa about voting patterns.

• $554,763 for the Forest Service to replace windows in a closed visitor center at Mount St. Helens
• $762,372 to create “Dance Draw” interactive dance software
• $62 million for a tunnel to nowhere in Pittsburgh, PA that even Governor, Ed Rendell called “a tragic mistake”
• $1.9 million for international ant research
• $1.8 million for a road project that is threatening a pastor’s home
• $308 million for a joint clean energy venture with…BP
• $89,298 to replace a new sidewalk that leads to a ditch in Boynton, OK

$298,543 to predict the weather on other planets.

$363,000  to National Institute of Health to promote The Stimulus itself. The NIH? That’s a curious choice. And if this was before the Health Care “reform” passed makes it even more curious.

And since the government spent $700,000 to promote ObamaCare via Andy Griffith.

So how does a Billion dollars in PR for their socialism create new jobs?

It doesn’t. But it works for them.

$144,541 for Wake Forest University scientists to give monkeys cocaine and see what happens. Even scarier: they’re having the monkeys administer the coke themselves. No word yet if part of the cost is allocated to rolled up hundred dollar bills.

$712,883 to build a machine that tells jokes (presumably funnier than the ones Coburn and McCain tried to crack in this report).

$294,958 on a program to reduce menopausal hot flashes with yoga classes.

$1.2 million for research how elderly people react to playing video games.

$180,935 to discover a better method for freezing rat sperm.

$112,437 for three high school students and three college students to study alcohol in laboratories (read: pound shots out of test tubes)

McCain cited $500,000 for Arizona State University to “study the genetic makeup of ants to determine distinctive roles within the ant colony” and another $450,000 to “study division of labor in ant colonies and develop a model for humans to determine the optimal strategy for distributing a specialist in a variable work environment.”

Dana Perino, a conservative, on Hannity last night said (not in a good way)  “Even if half of them are false, that means half of them are accurate”.

Media Matters, the George Soros funded Uber-Leftist socialist site used this as a headline attacking the report!

On uber-leftist blogger even said that if it was put out by a republican it must therefore on it’s face be a lie. Period. End of Story. 🙂

Isn’t partisan cognitive dissonance  fun? 😦

And remember, these are the “open minded” and “fair” Liberals….  who are way smarter than you and are way better at running your life for you. 🙂

The Philadelphia 86ers!

In the final days of the Bush administration, three Black Panthers —  Minister King Samir Shabazz, Malik Zulu Shabazz and Jerry Jackson — were charged in a civil complaint with violating the Voter Rights Act in November 2008 by using coercion, threats and intimidation at a Philadelphia polling station — with Shabazz brandishing what prosecutors called a deadly weapon.

Imagine, multiple witness, including a Well-Respected Democrat Civil Rights Activist hearing “Now you know what it will be like to be ruled by a black man, Cracker!”

Cracker, for the uninitiated is a racial slur for white people. But since it’s is not politically incorrect no one actually cares that it’s a racial slur.

Imagine, a tall Black man with a knight stick and his buddies outside a Philadelphia polling place.

Imagine, They called people “white devils”. They menaced, they tapped their baton. They tried to stop people from entering the polls.

And it is all on tape!!

But since the Ministry of Truth and the Liberal Spin machine will dismiss it as a “republican” ploy enter Lifelong Democrat, and Civil Rights Advocate Bartle Bull.

He’s a long time Robert F. Kennedy civil rights activist, worked in Mississippi in the ’60s. He said it was the worst case of voter intimidation he has ever seen in his 40 years of practicing civil rights laws.

He was There.

He also alleges that ACORN registered at least 400,000 people in the last election that were fraudulent also.

So you have voter fraud and voter intimidation allegations from a Diehard Liberal Democrat!

“But I do know already that the President of the United States has violated his oath of office to enforce the laws of the United States. Because he is not enforcing the Voting Rights Act. Which he swore to do.’ – Bartle Bull.

Text of the Interview with Former DOJ Attorney: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,595683,00.html

Excerpts:

KELLY (FOX): Ok, so you bring the case against these four defendants. The two guys we see on camera, the party and the head of the party. And what happens next?

J Christian ADAMS (Former DOJ): Well you cruise along. The defendants didn’t even appear, they didn’t even answer, the just ignored the charges.

KELLY: They didn’t bother to defend it in any way?

ADAMS: No, it’s like ignoring a speeding ticket. They just blew it off. They didn’t show up for court, they didn’t file any papers, they didn’t do anything.

KELLY: So you get something that’s called a default judgment, meaning a judgment because they didn’t bother to defend it and the judge says to you at the Department of Justice, OK, write up an order and tell me whether you want to make this final essentially.

ADAMS: Yeah, the court had already found and entered the fault against the defendants. It was done. All we had to do is tell the judge what we wanted for punishment.

KELLY: OK, but instead of doing that, something changed at the Department of Justice. What happened?

ADAMS: Well, the case was dismissed on May 15. All the charges were dropped against three of the defendants and the final order against one of the defendants was a timid restraint.

KELLY: So, the only person who wound up facing any punishment was the guy with the baton. And instead of having a permanent injunction, which is what you guys wanted, never let this guy near a polling station to do this, to do this kind of thing again, he got what?

ADAMS: He’s stopped from appearing at the polls with a weapon only in the city of Philadelphia and only for a couple more years.

KELLY: And the other three defendants?

ADAMS: Nothing. They’re dismissed from the case completely.

KELLY: Ok, so what happened at the Department of Justice to get you to the point where you literally snatched defeat from the jaws of victory?

KELLY: So, but what was the reason? That’s what I’m trying to get at. You, the trial attorneys, the career lawyers at DOJ said we have a victory. We think this case has merit. And you were told what?

ADAMS: Dismiss the case. That the facts and the law don’t support this. I can’t explain it.

KELLY: What was really going on?

ADAMS: Well, I mean, there is a pervasive hostility to bringing these sorts of civil rights cases. I’ve worked on other ones at the Justice Department. I’ve worked on cases in Mississippi. I’ve represented both black victims of racial discrimination and Hispanic victims and in this case a white victim of racial discrimination. There is a pervasive hostility within the civil rights division at the Justice Department toward these sorts of cases.

KELLY: Do you believe that the DOJ has a policy now of not pursuing cases if the defendant is black and the victim is white?

ADAM: Well, particularly in voting. In voting that will be the case over the next few years, there’s no doubt about it.

KELLY: There isn’t?

ADAM: None, I mean, instructions were, if you had all the attorneys that worked on this case I am quite sure that they would say the exact same thing. And that other attorneys gave instructions that the voting section would not be pursuing these sorts of cases.

Response: The department “is committed to comprehensive and vigorous enforcement of both the civil and criminal provisions of federal law that prohibit voter intimidation. We continue to work with voters, communities, and local law enforcement to ensure that every American can vote free from intimidation, coercion or threats,” Justice Department spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler Schmaler said.

There’s that word again, “comprehensive”. And could you be a little more political and platitude-y in your response please. 😦

But Adams told Fox News that the department’s decision to dismiss the case reeked of racial politics and corruption.

“I don’t think the department or the fine people who work there are corrupt, but in this particular instance, to abandon law-abiding citizens and abet wrongdoers constitutes corruption,” he said.

Adams said he quit last month after the department ordered attorneys to ignore a subpoena from the commission.

“After being ordered not to comply with the lawful subpoena, after hearing the lies that are being said about the case, after the corruption that we had witnessed in the case, I just said that’s it, that I resign and now I’m no longer there,” he said.

Adams also said the department has been caught lying about the case, including the assertion that the decision to dismiss the charges was made only by Loretta King, acting head of the civil rights division, and Steve Rosenbaum, an attorney with the division.

Citing a Washington Times article, Adams said Associate Attorney General Tom Perrelli, the No. 3 official in the department, was responsible for the decision. He also said a written response from the department to the commission revealed that Attorney General Eric Holder was also briefed on the case.

“The initial statements of the department are being proved in hindsight to be false,” he said.

When asked whether Holder signed off on the decision to dismiss the case, Adams said, “I can’t answer that. We were just doing our job. We didn’t even know these things. We thought we had a good case. We thought it’s all going to be over with soon and we’re going to win. And then it wasn’t.”

But Adams noted that a former Justice Department official testified to the commission that it would be “unheard of” for a decision like this to be made without the attorney general’s blessing.

Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez provided false testimony in May to the United States Commission on Civil Rights, which is investigating the department’s decision to drop charges against three members of the radical group in a case that the government won.

Perez told the commission that the facts and the law didn’t support the case against the group.

“I know about the truth…and I know what the truth is and I know to say the facts and law don’t support the Black Panther case is not true,” Adams said, adding that Perez ignored his warnings not to provide false testimony.

“We made it very clear that continuing to say that the facts and the law don’t support this case would not be consistent with the truth,” he said.

Justice Department spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler called Adams’ allegations “baseless.”

So you catch several Blank Panther radicals brandishing weapons and yelling racial epithets and intimidating people at the polls.

You win the case. It’s a Slam Dunk. It’s all on Tape. You have multiple credible witnesses.

Then your new boss says drop it.

Why?

Because,“the facts and law do not support  the case”, they say.

It’s ON TAPE! Slapping you in the face with a 2X4!

So what they are are the power now (Democrats) and they decided what laws are to be enforced and when.

And this was not going to be enforced.

Racism requires the perpetrator to be in a position of power. Obama comes from a “church” of black liberation theology (Rev. Wright). Holder is no newcomer to controversy and the politics of race. Obama holds the office of President of the United States and Eric Holder holds the office of Attorney General of the United States.

Who has the power?

We are from the government and we are here to serve you.

TO SERVE MAN.

“It’s a Cook Book! It’s A Cook Book!” 🙂

How Green(e) is My Politics

Alvin Greene, a 13 year veteran of the military won 59% of the vote in the South Carolina democratic primary for the u.s. senate last week. Greene, despite having spent less than 2 thousand dollars on his campaign handily won the primary.

One would think that the Dems would be excited that a black guy with a very limited budget beat out a white guy with loads of campaign money and could be the first african american senator from the southern US  since reconstruction.

But people, including representative James Clyburn (D-SC), House Whip in Congress is demanding an investigation. He and other members of the Democratic party have asked Alvin Greene to pull out of the race.

Some also think he’s a plant by the Republicans. 🙂

“Alvin Greene is pretending to be an idiot,” Creighton (of far left Flamethrower website Firedoglake) writes, noting that Greene holds a college degree and worked as an intelligence specialist in the US military. “He is doing it because someone doesn’t want a strong populist democrat like Vic Rawl running against Jim DeMint in South Carolina for his seat in the United States Senate.”

Isn’t politics just fun. 🙂

“There were some real shenanigans going on in the South Carolina primary,” Clyburn said on the Bill Press radio show, according to The Hill. “I don’t know if [Greene] was a Republican plant; he was someone’s plant.” Clyburn is particularly suspicious that Greene could come up with the $10,400 needed to register for the race despite being unemployed.

A spokesman for Sen. Jim DeMint, Greene’s opponent in the general election, said the charge that the Democratic nominee is a Republican plant is “ridiculous.”
Whomever the Democrats nominated was not likely to win against the very popular DeMint anyhow.

Super leftist Ezra Klein of the Washington Post though, put it this way: There’s been a lot of talk about what sort of trickery and skullduggery and inanity could’ve produced Alvin Greene’s win in South Carolina. But after reading all of it, I’m coming down on the side of Dave Weigel: Maybe the guy just, you know, won.

So why all the outrage? All the conspiracy theories?

Could it be they want to create a crisis, so they can exploit it?

Get the sleepy, apathetic, South Carolina Democrats whipped up?

They want to know where he got the $10,400 to be put on the ballot.

They are more obsessed with this than the $4 Trillion in worthless spending they’ve already done nationally.

It’s like focusing on 1 tree while the whole forest burns down!

But they miss the fact that 100,000 people voted for this guy. Regardless of whether he was “a plant” and “someone” seeded him the money, he still got the votes.

Oh, right, because this was an open primary it was a Republican hit-job… 😦

When asked by NBC’s David Gregory on Sunday if Greene’s election was legitimate, senior White House adviser David Axelrod said, “It doesn’t appear so to me. It was a mysterious deal.”

Axelrod said: “The whole thing is odd. I don’t really know how to explain it and I don’t think anybody else does either. … How [Greene] won the primary is a big mystery, and until you resolve that I don’t think he can claim to be a strong, credible candidate.”

But they are still stuck with an unemployed, no experience candidate with a pending felony trial.

I don’t know about you, but that sounds like the perfect Democrat to me. 🙂

So what is really the troubling factor here is the Democrats attitude that the guy they put up, a former legislator named Vic Rawl, who spend virtually no money either but had the blessing of the establishment, didn’t win so it must be a trick.

The voting machines were rigged, they say. “Hanging Chads” anyone?

Some want the primary results thrown out.

They didn’t get their man.

That’s the really troubling part.

And these are the same Democrats who will, even after 10 years, go ranting off into left field about how the Republicans stole the election in 2000 from Al Gore.

They didn’t get their man.

Does this sound like a free and fair, democratic election ethic or a party apparatchik put-up job?

The Party wants whom the party wants. And the people are just sheep who are supposed to vote the way the party wants them too and if they don’t it must therefore be FRAUD! 🙂

And if the party doesn’t get what it wants it will simply erase it and start over again until you do what the party wants.

Very scary.

But does it sound familiar?

Health Care reform anyone? Bailouts? TARP? Stimulus? Cap and Trade!

The majority of Americans were vehemently against the Health Care bill, but the Democrats wanted their Holy Grail no matter what and they got what they wanted by any means necessary.

And now it’s Energy.

Cap and Trade, which stalled out for lack of support is now re-energized by the Oil Spill.

“The tragedy unfolding on our coast is the most painful and powerful reminder yet that the time to embrace a clean energy future is now,” he said. “I say we can’t afford not to change how we produce and use energy – because the long-term costs to our economy, our national security, and our environment are far greater.” –President Obama, last night.

Never waste a Crisis!

Overly Expensive, inefficient, but politically correct,Green Tech or Bust.

One problem, the nation, and the world run on Oil.

So they need to make Oil unattractive, both politically and economically.

Enter Cap and Trade.

Mind you, the rest of the world is going to do anything, but take advantage of the weak, stupid Americans.

And 10’s of thousands of good jobs will evaporate.

Earlier this month, the president ordered a six month ban on exploratory deepwater drilling – a move some experts predict will pour salt into the wounds of the already injured region.

The moratorium could lead to massive job losses in Louisiana, which relies on drilling to support its economy, Louisiana State University Economist James Richardson said.

“The moratorium could be more devastating than the leak, because more people are employed by the oil industry than the fishing industry,” he said.

The moratorium could cost the state more than 20,000 jobs by the end of the year, according to the Louisiana Department of Economic Development. The Department estimates for every one employee working on a rig, nine employees onshore are working to support that rig.

“During one of the most challenging economic periods in decades, the last thing we need is to enact public policies that will certainly destroy thousands of existing jobs while preventing the creation of thousands more,” Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said in a letter to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

Broken down by industry, the Louisiana Department of Economic Development estimates fishing and tourism contributes $10 billion to the Louisiana economy, while energy contributes $65 billion.

Following the moratorium, Anadarko Petroleum announced its intention to move three rigs out of the Gulf.

And when the taxes from this debacle cripple the country anyone for 20% unemployment??

The price of gas will skyrocket.

But candidate Obama was only too happy about that previously

January 2008:

“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket . . . because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, natural gas, you name it . . . Whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money, and they will pass that [cost] on to consumers.’’

In the same interview, Obama suggested that his energy policy would require the ruin of the coal industry. “If somebody wants to build a coal-fired plant, they can,’’ he told the Chronicle. “It’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.’’

So the Oil Spill is the perfect political opportunity to get what they want because they want it.

The fact that the people are again, against it, is not relevant.

They want what they want.

So the Democrats in South Carolina want to invalidate a valid election because they didn’t get what they wanted. They complain to this day about the 2000 election because they didn’t get what they wanted. And then the Health Care Debate  went on for over a year until they bum-rushed it through in the most partisan vote in the history of the country.

Now they want your energy.

Your Car.

Your AC.

Your everything that is manufactured and shipped that will be more costly.

And all the job losses for this?

Like they care.

They want what they want when they want it.

Period.

And no one is going to take their toys away from them!

The ACORN doesn’t fall far from the Democrat tree

This is not a surprise to me at least.

The radical activist group ACORN “works” for the Democratic Party and deliberately promotes election fraud, ACORN employees told FBI investigators, according to an FBI document dump Wednesday.

The documents obtained by Judicial Watch, a watchdog group, are FBI investigators’ reports related to the 2007 investigation and arrest of eight St. Louis, Mo., workers from ACORN’s Project Vote affiliate for violation of election laws. All eight employees involved in the scandal later pleaded guilty to voter registration fraud.

Project Vote is ACORN’s voter registration arm. Project Vote continues to operate despite the reported dissolution of the national structure of ACORN.

The handwritten reports by FBI agents show that ACORN employees reported numerous irregularities in the nonprofit group’s business practices.

One employee told the FBI that ACORN headquarters is “wkg [working] for the Democratic Party.”

According to one report, an ACORN employee said the purpose of “[f]raudulent cards” was “[t]o cause confusion on election day to keep polls open longer,” “[t]o allow people who can’t vote to vote,” and “[t]o allow to vote multiple times.”

Another report quotes an employee saying, “Project Vote will pay them whether cards fake or not – whatever they had to do to get the cards was attitude.” Project Vote pays based on the number of cards and “that’s why they were so reckless,” the report says.

A report quotes an employee saying, “I don’t like our system. I don’t think we should do voter registration.” The report also notes that employees were “[c]onstantly threatened” and that the staff were “instructed on what to say to FBI.”

Another report indicates an employee told the investigator, that ACORN “[t]old employees not to talk to the FBI.” The FBI is “‘trying to intimidate you.’”

“These documents show the need for a national criminal investigation by the Obama Justice Department into ACORN,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch.

“Is Attorney General [Eric] Holder doing nothing because of Obama’s close connections to ACORN and Project Vote? The information in these new documents has national implications that cry out for further investigation,” Fitton said.

President Obama’s ties to ACORN go back to the 1980s.

“ACORN noticed him when he was organizing on the far south side of the city with the Developing Communities Project,” according to Toni Foulkes, a former member of ACORN’s national board. From 1985 to 1988 Obama ran the Developing Communities Project from an office located in Chicago’s Holy Rosary Church.

Ah, the Chicago Way… 🙂

Unbending the Curve

Since the Latino Activist and The Illegals are focused on Armegeddon and the Nazi Holocaust because Illegal mean Illegal.

I want to focus on a real Armageddon coming down the pike, ObamaCare.

IBD:  An analysis from an objective source — Medicare’s actuary — says ObamaCare will increase costs and relies on projected savings that may be unrealistic. Now isn’t that a surprise?

The Obama administration has been trying hard to find good news in a new report by government experts on the outlook for the health care economy, now at 17% of GDP and continuing to climb.

To HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the analysis confirms that “the Affordable Health Care Act will cover more Americans and strengthen Medicare by cracking down on waste, fraud and abuse.”

More neutral observers will notice that the administration no longer talks about “bending the cost curve” in health care. The analysis released last week by Medicare’s Office of the Actuary tells why. It looks ahead 10 years and reaches two conclusions about the new health care overhaul: More people will be covered, and costs will continue to soar. The cost curve is unbending still.

But since costs wasn’t why The Democrats passed ObamaCare to begin with…

Chief Actuary Richard Foster pegs ObamaCare’s added costs (that is, beyond what was projected without the overhaul in effect) at $311 billion over 10 years. That’s just under 1% of overall expected health care spending, and administration officials are calling that sum a small price to pay for adding 34 million Americans to public or private insurance rolls.

But the president had set a goal of extending coverage without adding any new cost. More to the point, the problem of runaway costs that plagued the pre-overhaul health care system has not been solved. As Foster points out, much of what ObamaCare proposes to reduce the nation’s health tab, especially in Medicare, is politically unrealistic.

The overhaul projects a net decrease in projected Medicare spending (more accurately, a reduction in future spending increases) of more than $400 billion. But Congress has talked this way before and has been notably timid about pulling the trigger.

Under a 1997 law, for instance, a 21% cut in Medicare reimbursements to physicians was supposed to go into effect on April 1. But Congress two weeks later put the cut on hold as part of a bill to extend unemployment benefits. As usual, mobilized doctors and frightened seniors got their way.

This pattern of avoiding politically difficult spending cuts has been going on pretty much since the start of Medicare. ObamaCare promises that this behavior will somehow change. That would be a miracle, and actuaries tend to stick with more mundane probabilities.
And like any good actuary would be, Foster is unimpressed with the cost-reduction side of the ObamaCare equation. He says “the long-term viability of the Medicare … reduction is doubtful.”

Nothing in Foster’s report should come as a surprise, since it was clear from an early stage in the health care debate that the Democratic Party had one overriding goal — universal coverage or something close to it — with cost-reduction secondary.

The cost-cutting promises served mainly to obscure the actual price tag of the overhaul in future taxes and deficits. They were a means to the end of extending insurance, and to that degree they worked — as politics. But as policy they are empty promises.

Foster’s study is further evidence of how badly ObamaCare missed the point. All along, high cost has been the fundamental problem with American health care; the lack of universal coverage was only one symptom. To put it another way, the problem of coverage would have been solved long ago, largely by the private sector, if the medical tab in the U.S. were more like that in other advanced nations.

At 17% of GDP and rising, the nation’s health care economy is a case study in how to structure incentives, price signals (if any) and buying power to maximize inflation. Those who receive services hardly ever pay for them directly, and prices are rarely revealed, much less advertised.

Providers long ago learned the power of lobbying to keep the money rolling in and to defeat any attempts at fiscal restraint. What was billed as “reform,” in other words, actually reformed nothing.

But gave the government the in-road to taking it over completely, which was the plan all along…

And while the full effects of ObamaCare might not be felt until Tax Day 2014, the promise of free health care to millions of Americans will begin to prove hollow long before then.

Already Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., says the public option might not be dead if insurance companies do not offer competitive rates within the exchanges. And Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, has revived a proposal that gives the secretary of health and human services the power to review premiums and block any rate increase bound to be “unreasonable.”

America’s primary care system is already under stress. Low reimbursement rates, bureaucratic paperwork and long hours are driving family physicians out of medicine and pushing new doctors into specialized practices. Half a century ago, one in two doctors practiced general medicine. Today, 7 in 10 specialize.

And the gap is growing. A mere 1 in 12 medical-school graduates now head to family medicine. In 2009, the American Academy of Family Physicians warned that we’d be short 40,000 family doctors in a decade, if present trends continued. Today, medical schools produce one primary care doctor for every two who are needed.

ObamaCare will add strain to an already burdened system. The new bill seeks to increase the load on family doctors while holding the line on costs by putting price controls on government insurance plans. In due course, price controls on private plans will be inevitable.

We saw them come into effect on April 1 in Massachusetts, when the state Division of Insurance rejected 235 of 274 premium increases proposed by insurers for individuals and small businesses. The rate increases — ranging from 8% to 32% — were deemed excessive.

The combination of increased coverage and emphasis on primary care, experts say, will increase demand for primary care docs by as much as 29%, or 44,000 doctors, over the next 15 years.

But just as demand is increasing, doctors are making plans to exit. A 2009 survey by medical recruiters Merritt Hawkins found that 10% of respondents were planning to leave medicine within three years.

Another poll of physicians conducted in 2009 by Investor’s Business Daily found that 45% of doctors would consider early retirement if ObamaCare passed.

So higher demand and lower supply equals what exactly? 🙂

The Great Green Fraud

I have noticed that the major media STILL don’t want to talk about it.

I guess the Liberals have another reason to hate FOX, as they are the only ones covering the story. 🙂

Yet, despite the seriousness of this issue, as well as a prominent Senator calling for hearings to investigate it, America’s television news organizations appear to be actively boycotting this growing controversy. (NewsBusters)

But, of course, that senator is a Republican. So they can ignore him. He’s just a rightwing nutjob, after all. 🙂

There is “virtually no possibility” of a few scientists biasing the advice given to governments by the UN’s top global warming body, its chair said today.

Rajendra Pachauri defended the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in the wake of apparent suggestions in emails between climate scientists at the University of East Anglia that they had prevented work they did not agree with from being included in the panel’s fourth assessment report, which was published in 2007.

“The processes in the IPCC are so robust, so inclusive, that even if an author or two has a particular bias it is completely unlikely that bias will find its way into the IPCC report,” he said.

This reminds me of the Fake letter about George W Bush’s war deferment where the defenders to this day say, “The letter was fake but what was written was factual”.

So what happens if it was not just a “few” scientists???

Whoops, maybe that’s an Inconvenient Orwellian Possibility. 🙂

Phil Jones (CRU),”keep them out somehow – even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!

Nah…The Religion rolls on.

I was amused by Ed Begley Jr on Cavuto (you can find the meltdown on You Tube). Mr super green ranted and raved about only believing peer-reviewed science.

I guess he missed the email where they talk about changing the rules for peer-reviewed science and talk of boycotting publications that tow their party line.

Phil Jones (CRU),”keep them out somehow – even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!

Though, for people like Mr Begley who are deep in the religion of Global Warming,  reason is no longer an option because that questions their faith. So much so that he was ranting about the quality of the air in LA during the interview as an example of something no one wanted to do but was forced to do anyhow.

But it doesn’t have anything to do with Global Cooling…Global Warming…Global Climate Change…Climate Change.

But it does have everything to do with force.

And the Orwellian way, apparently, that the all-hail the vaunted “peer review” process has been corrupted by one side of the argument is not an issue.

That’s not science.

That’s politics.

Canada.com: The immensely respected former British chancellor of the exchequer, Nigel Lawson, had great difficulty finding a publisher for his expose of these matters, An Appeal To Reason, A Cool Look at Global Warming, such is the pressure the eco-lobby can assert. He believes Green is the new Red, the anti-capitalists taking over the relatively inoffensive tandem bicycle of naturalists, and turning it into a nihilistic juggernaut, the treads having been blown off their great Red Marxist tank that careened through the world for most of the last century. The ecoextremists allow the conservationists and butterfly collectors and Sierra Clubs to front their activities, just as the pacifist naifs were often the witless dupes and “useful idiots” (in Lenin’s words), of the Communists.

As Lord Lawson wrote in his book, those worried about imminent environmental catastrophe, as compared, for examples, to nuclear terrorism or even large meteoric collisions, “need not worry about saving this planet. They are already living on another one … We appear to have entered a new age of unreason … It is from this, above all, that we really need to save the planet.”

Two of Canada’s greatest and most undersung recent heroes are environmental economist Ross McKitrick and statistical minerologist Steven McIntyre, who by their tireless research in the teeth of the entire ecological establishment, proved the former IPCC claim of drastically accelerated global warming was a fraud. These men have been prominently mentioned in the hacked emails that have just revealed the outrageous lengths the scientific propagators of the Great Green Fraud have gone to to suppress the facts.

Michael Schlesinger, a climatologist at the University of Illinois, a bringer of the Faith, in the New York Times, “The absolute worst thing that humanity could do is mistake a short-term natural cooling for the absence of human-caused global warming and, in so doing, not transition as soon as economically possible from the fossil fuel age to the post-fossil fuel age.

To make this mistake would leave a legacy of global warming for our children, grandchildren and multiple generations thereafter which they likely could not reverse, and for which they would likely not forgive us.

This we must not do.”

What about the debt, the loss of freedom, the jobs, the loss of rationality?

And it’s not been proven that it will even work.

But it will feel good.

And it’s a “Crisis”.

“You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”-Rahm Emanuel, White Chief of Staff.

On (Last) Tuesday, ABCNews.com’s top story was, “Worse Than the Worst: Climate Report Says Even Most Dire Predictions Too Tame”

There’s even less time for humanity to try to curb global warming than recently thought, according to a new in-depth scientific assessment by 26 scientists from eight countries.

Sea level rise, ocean acidification and the rapid melting of massive ice sheets are among the significantly increased effects of human-induced global warming assessed in the survey, which also examines the emissions of heat-trapping gases that are causing the climate change.

“Many indicators are currently tracking near or above the worst-case projections” made three years ago by the world’s scientists, the new Copenhagen Diagnosis said.

Nor has manmade global warming slowed or paused, as some headlines have recently suggested, according to the report, which you can see here.

The Thought Police binders are firmly in place. And  Chicken Little is happy.

I have no doubt this started out as a well-meaning crusade. But that was a long time ago. In a Non-Partisan galaxy, far far away…

The case for global warming rests on “all kinds of evidence,” says climate scientist Don Wuebbles of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. “Look at what’s happening to ice in the Arctic. Explain that as ‘no global warming.’ It doesn’t take a genius to see, obviously, warming is happening, e-mails or not.” (USAToday)

Putting aside how condescending that statement is, can he explain the Patagonian glacier in Argentina THAT IS GROWING???

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Argentina’s Perito Moreno glacier is one of only a few ice fields worldwide that have withstood rising global temperatures.

Nourished by Andean snowmelt, the glacier constantly grows even as it spawns icebergs the size of apartment buildings into a frigid lake, maintaining a nearly perfect equilibrium since measurements began more than a century ago.

“We’re not sure why this happens,” said Andres Rivera, a glacialist with the Center for Scientific Studies in Valdivia, Chile. “But not all glaciers respond equally to climate change.” (Newsmax)

or  In the Western Himalayas, a group of some 230 glaciers are bucking the global warming trend. (Discovery.com 5/5/2009)

MOUNT SHASTA, Calif. —  Global warming is shrinking glaciers all over the world, but the seven tongues of ice creeping down Mount Shasta’s flanks are a rare exception: They are the only known glaciers in the continental U.S. that are growing.(Fox 2008)

Or won’t that be “reviewed”. 🙂

Glaciers are growing in the Himalayan Mountains, confounding global warming alarmists who have recently claimed the glaciers were shrinking and that global warming was to blame.

A new study of the Karakoram, Hindu Kush, and Western Himalaya mountain ranges by researchers at England’s Newcastle University shows consistent recent growth among the region’s glaciers.

Researchers found cooler summers are failing to melt winter snows, which are themselves becoming more frequent, resulting in advancing ice sheets.

The study was published in the September 2006 issue of the American Meteorological Society’s Journal of Climate.

Oh, look it was.

But the Religion rolls on.

Nothing to see here.

A March 14, 2005 report from the activist group World Wildlife Fund (WWF) claimed, “Himalayan glaciers are among the fastest retreating glaciers globally due to effects of global warming.”

The WWF said its report “reveals the rate of retreat of Himalayan glaciers accelerating as global warming increases.”

National Geographic, for example, reported on March 10,2006 that glaciers were shrinking throughout the Himalayas and that “these water supplies could eventually dry up as the glaciers melt due to global warming.”

But not if they are growing.

Whoops.

Guess we better just ignore that Inconvenient Truth. 🙂

Or maybe it takes an “idiot” to wonder if it man-caused at all or a “natural variation” as some global warming advocates call the lack of warming lately.

So maybe we do need so “useful idiots” to wonder if the agenda behind the rhetoric and “the consensus” is entirely above aboard.

We need a Reformation.

We Need Heresy.

We Need Truth.

Not Politics.

Hide the Truth! Beware the Leopard!

As the Mainstream Media works feverishly to ignore the fraud of Global Warming because the greatness of  “Hope and Change” in Copenhagen is coming…

Amid all this junk science, Coca-Cola has another campaign under way and, with other corporate biggies like Siemens and SAP, the software giant, has created an Internet campaign and Web site, Hopenhagen.com, designed to enlist support for a climate deal to be reached in the very cold city of Copenhagen in December.

A petition on the site urges support for “developing countries’ adaptation efforts and secure climate justice for all.” It’s based on the theory that Western nations, particularly the U.S., owe the world a “climate debt” for starting the Industrial Revolution and plundering the world’s fossil fuels in the name of unbridled capitalism.

“The world needs a Green New Deal,” declares a pocket guide to Hopenhagen’s goals put out by the World Wide Fund for Nature, the group with the cuddly panda as its icon. That deal involves a global climate change fund into which rich countries pour money for “green” improvements in poorer nations.

The WWF guide says the Green New Deal “will be based on the polluter-pays principle, on the historically high emissions of developed nations and on the capacity of the rich nations to help the poor. And we will all benefit from this North/South ‘burden sharing.'” To us, this sounds like the old Marxist principle of to each according to his need, from each according to his ability, with a guilty conscience thrown in for good measure.(IBD)

From the “News” section of Hopenhagen.com:

Farmers who cut and burn trees in Brazil’s part of the Amazon River Basin cause less environmental destruction, than rich Western nations have done in the past, the Brazilian President says.

So the slash and burn of the Amazon Rain Forest that the environmentalists have been screaming about for decades is nothing compared to the Global Warming cause by Greedy Rich Western Nations. 🙂

If you follow the link it goes, unsurprisingly to the Copenhagen UN Global Warming website:

Brazil’s president said Thursday that “gringos” should pay Amazon nations to prevent deforestation, insisting that rich Western nations have caused much more past environmental destruction than the loggers and farmers who cut and burn trees in the world’s largest tropical rain forest.

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva made the comments just before an Amazon summit in which delegates signed a declaration calling for financial help from the industrial world to halt the deforestation that causes global warming.

“I don’t want any gringo asking us to let an Amazon resident die of hunger under a tree,” Silva said. “We want to preserve, but they will have to pay the price for this preservation because we never destroyed our forest like they mowed theirs down a century ago.”

In Brazil, the word “gringo” does not only mean American, but generally refers to anyone from the northern hemisphere.

This would be the same President who just met with Iran‘s Dictator-in-Chief Ahmadinejad was scheduled to sign trade deals with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva before visiting Congress and speaking at a university in Brasilia.

He also said the two nations believe that the international order should be revised.(Tehran Times)

So fork it over America, you greedy pigs!

IBD: Average Joe noticed how Al Gore and other Democratic politicians were quick to capitalize on the matter, even before the scientific community could speak with a unified voice on the issue.

He figured out, correctly, that politics rather than science was the force that put global warming on the front pages of the newspapers and on television every night.

And that the religion of  “the consensus” continues.

“The Consensus” doesn’t want to hear anything that endangers it.

And “The Consensus” can be very partisan.

Liberal Think Tank Environmentalist to the Stars (like Al Gore), Joe Romm:

It will be no surprise to learn the central point of their essay, ironically titled “Dangerous Assumptions” is “Enormous advances in energy technology will be needed to stabilize atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations at acceptable levels,” which is otherwise known as the technology trap or the standard “Technology, technology, blah, blah, blah” delayer message developed by Frank Luntz and perfected by Bush/Lomborg/Gingrich.

In other words, the Nature article was not what it claimed to be. It wasn’t an analysis suggesting that the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change should revisit its assumptions about decarbonization. It wasn’t an argument for stronger technology policies. No, it was a devious Republican message – one designed by Republican pollster Frank Luntz during the Bush years – to delay action. (globalwarmingheartland.com)

Do you get the impression I do,that if you’re a liberal,  if you’re toaster burns your toast in the morning it was because it was made by a Republican just to piss them off! 🙂

Everything is political.

And thus, if the Truth is truly Inconvenient it must be hidden.

In The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Arthur Dent asks why the his house must be destroyed for a bypass only to find out that the plans for this were posted:

Arthur: “Oh yes, well, as soon as I heard I went straight round to see them, yesterday afternoon. You hadn’t exactly gone out of your way to call attention to them, had you? I mean, like actually telling anybody or anything.”

“But the plans were on display…”

“On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”

“That’s the display department.”

“With a flashlight.”

“Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.”

“So had the stairs.”

“But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?”

“Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display on the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.’”

So, no it’s time to brave the Leopard and see for yourself about the Bypass being built on your backs in Copenhagen.

Good Article: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100017977/climategate-the-scandal-spreads-the-plot-thickens-the-shame-deepens/

And then, one is left to wonder why they felt the need to rig the game in the first place, if their science is as robust as they claim. If there’s an innocent explanation for that, we’d love to hear it.

But I fear, it’s just more burnt toast.

Brave the Leopard!
