A New Strategy

“I don’t want us to do something just for the sake of politics that doesn’t solve the problem,” Obama told reporters Wednesday night aboard Air Force One.

Is he talking about his Health Care Reform?

Cap & Trade?

Financial Reform?

Or Illegal Immigration?

Or All of the Above?

It was Illegal Immigration, but it would be nearly impossible to tell with this President since everything is done for the ideology and nothing else.

Rep. Luis Gutierrez, the Democrats’ leading advocate for immigration reform, has said he voted for health care reform on the understanding that Obama and congressional Democrats would move a major immigration bill.

“On one hand you are not going to vote because you don’t believe people you voted for are doing a good enough job,” Gutierrez said. “Then you say, ‘I got to vote, because the enemy is so mean and vindictive, I got to get out there.'”

“For Democrats it is critical they can deliver if they want to continue nurturing the support they want from this community,” said Clarissa Martinez De Castro, National Council of La Raza immigration and national campaigns director.

By the Way, La Raza, “The Race” advocates Aztlan, the repatriation of parts of the Southwest with Mexico because they were stolen by the White Man.

But the politicians don’t have the political will to do anything.

Which is precisely the problem.

And yelling “racist” and “Nazi” is all the proponents of Illegal Immigration can seem to muster.

And the Fifth Column/Ministry of Truth can’t get their facts straight, because they don’t want to.

And calls for self-righteous boycotts.

The All-Star Game is apparently here in July (I don’t follow sports much so I had no idea).

And just how far are the Democrats willing to go to win in November?

Well, since The End Justifies the Means, how about a new State, full of hispanics and 2 new Senators?

Faced with losing Congress, the Democrats want to make Puerto Rico a state whether the people want it or not. The Democrats would get two new senators, new congressmen and a campaign issue.

Throw in voting representation for D.C., amnesty for illegals and voting for felons, all items on the Democrats’ agenda, and in their cookbook you have a recipe for Democratic majorities as far as the eye can see. It’s a plan to retain control at all costs and counteract a Tea Party movement that threatens to throw their big-government liberalism on the ash heap of political history.

You also have the added bonus of energizing Hispanic activists all too eager with administration help to paint the GOP as racists, particularly in the light of the new Arizona law that does nothing but say that since the feds dropped the ball on border security, Arizona will pick it up and run with it.

A scheduled Thursday vote in the House of Representatives on HR 2499, dubbed the Puerto Rico Democracy Act, was designed to rig the game in favor of Puerto Rican statehood, something native Puerto Ricans have rejected in the last three self-determination elections. Puerto Ricans like their current status just fine. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic leaders do not.

HR 2499 would not make Puerto Rico a state. It would split the past voting process into the two parts. The first would be an up-or-down vote on whether Puerto Ricans simply want to change their island’s status from a commonwealth in association with the U.S. instead of an up-or-down vote on statehood in the past.

Democrats hope enough people favor independence or statehood to cobble together a majority in favor of status change. Once the first hurdle is cleared, a second vote will determine what the new status should be with the choices being commonwealth, statehood or independence.

This is where the Democrats’ subversion of the democratic process begins. The second vote winner is determined by a mere plurality of one of the choices. Under this plan, if statehood just finishes in the lead, it wins, even without a clear majority.

It gets better. Under HR 2499, nonresident Puerto Ricans living in the 50 states could vote in the new referendum. According to the U.S. Census, there are more eligible Puerto Ricans living outside the proposed 51st state than in it.

So native Puerto Ricans could vote no on statehood while their mainland cousins could make it a yes. In case the vote is still no, HR 2499 requires a new referendum every eight years or until it becomes a yes in favor of statehood.(IBD)

Meanwhile, Al “Chicken Little” Gore just bought a 8.875 Million Dollar 9 Bathroom seaside Mansion, with multiple fireplaces, in California.

I guess Global Warming fraud does pay.

That’s some “carbon footprint” there Al!

And this as Campaign Barack said this on Financial reform:

We’re not, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money. But, you know, part of the American way is, you know, you can just keep on making it if you’re providing a good product or providing good service. We don’t want people to stop, ah, fulfilling the core responsibilities of the financial system to help grow our economy.

Oh well. I didn’t really need all that money I earn anyway. I’ll just keep “fulfilling the core responsibilities of the financial system to help grow our economy” and let Obama decide how to spend what I earn. It’s not like I have a family to provide for – that’s the government’s job – and my family has to be equal to everyone else’s, right? That’s fair. Fair for Obama’s Wall Street buddies, teacher union buddies and trial lawyer buddies that helped him to get elected.

And now he’s pandering to the Hispanic voters too.

Like we found out during the campaign, Obama likes to spread YOUR wealth around. Especially to people who vote for him.

I wonder if this applies to himself, after all he and Michelle made $5 Million dollars last year.

Oh, and the UN just put Iran on a Commission.

The Commission on the Status of Women, which is “dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women,” according to its website.

No, this is not a late April fools joke.

Buried 2,000 words deep in a U.N. press release distributed Wednesday on the filling of “vacancies in subsidiary bodies,” was the stark announcement: Iran, along with representatives from 10 other nations, was “elected by acclamation,” meaning that no open vote was requested or required by any member states — including the United States.

The U.S. currently holds one of the 45 seats on the body, a position set to expire in 2012. The U.S. Mission to the U.N. did not return requests for comment on whether it actively opposed elevating Iran to the women’s commission.

Iran’s election comes just a week after one of its senior clerics declared that women who wear revealing clothing are to blame for earthquakes, a statement that created an international uproar — but little affected their bid to become an international arbiter of women’s rights.

“Many women who do not dress modestly … lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes,” said the respected cleric, Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi. (FOX)

And they got this post after they couldn’t get on the UN Human Rights Commission!

So I guess the President’s strategy is to do nothing, as long as it works for your ideology. Screw the consequences.

And when it is for your ideology, The End Justifies the Means.

Now doesn’t that make you feel safer and more secure in the knowledge that he has America’s and the American people’s best interests at heart…. 😦

Just don’t make too much money, want to secure the border, or be in control of your life and responsible for your own actions.

That’s the government’s job! 🙂

Otherwise, you’re just a greedy, mean, selfish, racist.

And you should be ashamed of yourself!

What Would Mexico Do?

Before I get into the fun, how about the silly:

Rallies protesting against Arizona’s crackdown on illegal immigrants are planned in more than 70 cities across the U.S. this weekend.

Protesters say the law, which requires authorities to question people about their immigration status if there is any reason to suspect they are in the country illegally, is already seeing challenges to block it.

The upcoming May Day rallies will pile pressure on President Barack Obama to overhaul immigration laws in the election this year.

Should someone point out that May Day, is a Communist Holiday?? 🙂

******

So what does Mexico, that holier-than-thou country to the south, through which they come and from which they largely come.

You get caught being an Illegal Alien in Mexico, you have 3 basic choices:

1) Pay off the Federales and go on your way (“be of economic or social interest”)

2) Go to Jail, it’s a Felony you know…

3) Get beat up or shot dead.

That’s it.

But don’t worry, pulling over a car for speeding THEN wondering why there are 15 people stuffed into a Ford Taurus is Racists and insensitive!! 😦

Or that drug cartel shoot-out on the highway where innocent people are caught in the middle of it.

Or the Drop houses with 50 illegals and several armed Coyotes are stashed in family neighborhoods.

Doing anything about that because Washington is too busy pandering to them is racist! 😦

Mexican President Felipe Calderon has accused Arizona of opening the door “to intolerance, hate, discrimination and abuse in law enforcement.” But Arizona has nothing on Mexico when it comes to cracking down on illegal aliens. While open-borders activists decry new enforcement measures signed into law in “Nazi-zona” last week, they remain deaf, dumb or willfully blind to the unapologetically restrictionist policies of our neighbors to the south.

– The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset “the equilibrium of the national demographics.” How’s that for racial and ethnic profiling?

– If outsiders do not enhance the country’s “economic or national interests” or are “not found to be physically or mentally healthy,” they are not welcome. Neither are those who show “contempt against national sovereignty or security.” They must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can provide their own health care.

Illegal entry into the country is equivalent to a felony punishable by two years’ imprisonment. Document fraud is subject to fine and imprisonment; so is alien marriage fraud. Evading deportation is a serious crime; illegal re-entry after deportation is punishable by ten years’ imprisonment. Foreigners may be kicked out of the country without due process and the endless bites at the litigation apple that illegal aliens are afforded in our country (see, for example, President Obama’s illegal alien aunt — a fugitive from deportation for eight years who is awaiting a second decision on her previously rejected asylum claim).

Law enforcement officials at all levels — by national mandate — must cooperate to enforce immigration laws, including illegal alien arrests and deportations. The Mexican military is also required to assist in immigration enforcement operations. Native-born Mexicans are empowered to make citizens’ arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.

Ready to show your papers? Mexico’s National Catalog of Foreigners tracks all outside tourists and foreign nationals. A National Population Registry tracks and verifies the identity of every member of the population, who must carry a citizens’ identity card. Visitors who do not possess proper documents and identification are subject to arrest as illegal aliens.

All of these provisions are enshrined in Mexico’s Le General de Población (General Law of the Population) and were spotlighted in a 2006 research paper published by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Security Policy. There’s been no public clamor for “comprehensive immigration reform” in Mexico, however, because pro-illegal alien speech by outsiders is prohibited.

But don’t worry, we in Arizona are the mean racist arseholes!! 😦

Noncitizens cannot “in any way participate in the political affairs of the country.” In fact, a plethora of Mexican statutes enacted by its congress limit the participation of foreign nationals and companies in everything from investment, education, mining and civil aviation to electric energy and firearms. Foreigners have severely limited private property and employment rights (if any).

The Red Cross has protested rampant Mexican police corruption, intimidation and bribery schemes targeting illegal aliens there for years. Mexico didn’t respond by granting mass amnesty to illegal aliens, as it is demanding that we do. It clamped down on its borders even further. In late 2008, the Mexican government launched an aggressive deportation plan to curtain illegal Cuban immigration and human trafficking through Cancun. (Michelle Malkin)

So when foreigner complained about the incivility of the Mexican government, they just got even nastier about it.

They don’t take any crap from anyone.

But they are more than willing to join with the Pro-Illegal crowd in the U.S. to foist off their excess population on us.

It’s the second largest income for the country, patronage from illegals in this country sending money back to Mexico.

Why would they want to change that.

And we’re still the Nazi’s.

Funny That…. 😦

Hipócritas.

Can’t you feel the Liberal “moral outrage” from here…

The Frenzy Continues

“Big Sis” (Homeland Security Secretary and former AZ Governor  Janet Napolitano) declared that over the past 15 months, federal law enforcement initiatives have made the border more secure than in any other time in history, the SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS reports in Wednesday editions.

Well, that’s it, we’re all 100% safe and secure because Big Sis Janet Napolitano says so.

Anyone else want to reach for a Barf Bag? 😦

“Now suddenly if you don’t have your papers, and you took your kid out to get ice cream, you’re going to get harassed — that’s something that could potentially happen,” Obama said of the Arizona measure. “That’s not the right way to go.”(Obama in Iowa)

Not under the law, but that doesn’t matter. The truth is not at issue here.

Race-baiting and fearmongering is.

The DNC even sent out a video trying to rally “woman, black, and hispanics” to Democrats cause.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 60% of voters nationwide favor such a law, while 31% are opposed. Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Republicans support the law along with 62% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Democratic voters are evenly divided on the measure.

But, yet our Fifth Column newspaper The Arizona Republic (aka the Repulsive) regurgitates sobs stories from hispanics who are afraid of being arrested for merely being hispanic.

The hysterical frenzy of the Left and their politically correct violence is what the media wants to see and you to hear.

If you support the law you must be for rounding all latinos and checking them one-by one.

Vans will roam hispanic neighborhood and go “Oh there’s one!”  “Your paper’s please” (complete with cheap German accent).

Mind you, you point out what the law ACTUALLY says, and they blow past you and start talking about racism.

It’s all THEY want to talk about.

ILLEGAL is meaningless to them.

Securing the border against the Human Smugglers, Coyotes, is not a concern.

The 1.3 Million pounds of just Marijuana last year coming through Tucson is immaterial.

The gun battles on the streets and the highways.

The murder of American Citizens is not worth talking about.

It’s only about race.

And true to the modern Liberal, no matter what, if you disagree with them, you’re a Racist.

End of Discussion.

This is how we have political and social discourse now.

It’s very short.

I, the evil non-liberal explain my point.

“You’re a Racist”

End of Discussion.

Isn’t that just wonderful.

And the Fifth Column/Ministry of Truth Media will play it up for ratings and their own agenda.

Do I think the law will survive, No.

The liberal judges out there will not rule on the merits of the law or the Constitution, they will rule simply on their own agenda.

Even “Sanctuary City” Phil is getting to the act. Filing suit against the state for messing with his peeps.

Then there’s the violence.

Remember when the Tea Partiers were going to (and still are) the violent psychopathic terrorists who were just going to go postal all over everyone and were violent, gun-toting hicks?

Well, guess where all the violence is coming from, Liberals.

Near Riots, Vandalism, throwing objects at people.

Oh, and the word “nazi” every 2 milliseconds.

But the Tea partiers are the violent ones.

Where’s my barf bag?

LAURA INGRAHAM, GUEST HOST: In the “Weekdays with Bernie” segment tonight: As we told you, thousands of people in Phoenix gathered over the weekend to protest a new state immigration law. The crowds got rowdy at times. Check out this video of protesters throwing plastic bottles at police, or this where a man with a camera was attacked by one of the protest organizes. The mainstream media largely ignored these incidents, a stark contrast to the big headlines made by largely peaceful Tea Party protesters.

Joining us now from Miami, Fox News analyst Bernie Goldberg, author of the book “A Slobbering Love Affair.” And Bernie, why are we surprised when we have…

BERNIE GOLDBERG, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: I’m not.

INGRAHAM: …some thugs out there in Phoenix over the weekend causing trouble. And we don’t know who is responsible, but there was thuggish behavior. Meanwhile, still hearing about the Tea Parties that were largely peaceful, of course.

Click here to watch the segment!

GOLDBERG: I’m not surprised. If you understand one fairly obvious truth, everything else really fits right into place. And that is that if the lame-stream media basically sympathizes with your cause, they’re going to treat you one way, and if they don’t sympathize with your cause, they’re going to treat you another way.

So if one idiot at a Tea Party rally throws a stink bomb at a cop, the story is going to be played basically as the guy throwing the stink bomb, there was an unruly crowd and all of that. But if you have the pictures that you just showed with people throwing bottles at cops and all of that, it’s going to be portrayed as a mainly, largely peaceful rally.

(or righteous indignation against the racist pigs!)

INGRAHAM: Yes, we — we look at that review, whether from CNN or some of the other networks, and they report on the protests, angry protests, because of basically the mean immigration law. So the focus turns to the discriminatory law and why that is compelling people to act out on their, you know, their firmly and rightly held beliefs.

GOLDBERG: That’s absolutely true. I read a lot of the stuff, and that’s what they do. Even when they acknowledge that there were some people in the crowd that were unruly, they portray them as victims of the people who passed the law. They were only unruly because they’re frustrated at the law.

There was an old song years and years ago that said accentuate the positive, de-emphasize the negative. Well, if the lame-streams agree with your cause, then they accentuate the positive and de-emphasize the negative. But if they don’t — and they don’t with the Tea Party people — then they do it just the other way around. They emphasize the negative and de-emphasize the positive.

The Agenda is The Agenda and let nothing get in the way of your “social justice” (aka do what I say when i say it because I say it no questions asked or even considered).

We are the kidnapping capital of the US.

We have drop house and human smuggling operations going on all over the state.

But the Illegal Aliens, Coyotes, and Drug Cartels are the victims!

Welcome to ObamaLand.

But at least Big Sis is looking out for you!

The Battle of The Rages

While, they kind, non-violent, loving Liberals are smearing hateful Nazi symbols all over the Capitol proclaiming their moral superiority and politically correct love for everyone who isn’t a White Male.

But they aren’t the racists…oh no…

They don’t want to divide people by race…oh no…

They aren’t hateful and violent like Tea Partiers….oh no… 😦

Arizona’s new law is a reminder that the states formed the federal government and not the other way around. One of the federal government’s functions was to provide for the security of the new country against foreign enemies and intruders. At this, and particularly under this administration, it has failed miserably.

There are 460,000 illegal aliens in Arizona, a number that increases daily, placing an undue burden on the state’s schools, hospitals and law enforcement. Arizona has a window seat to an illegal invasion and on the escalating and violent drug war in Mexico that has put American lives and society at risk.

On March 27, the consequences of a porous and unprotected border claimed the life of Arizona rancher Robert Krentz after he radioed his brother that he was checking out someone he believed to be an illegal immigrant.

Incredibly, his murderer escaped to a pronghorn antelope area that the Interior Department of Secretary Ken Salazar had placed off-limits to U.S. Border Patrol agents.

So unserious is the administration about protecting the border that it has allowed a bureaucratic turf battle between Interior and Homeland Security to let 4.3 million acres of wilderness area become a haven and highway for illegal aliens, drug smugglers, human traffickers and potential terrorists. (IDB)

But they saved the Antelope!

Awww….isn’t that so warm and fuzzy…

Like the warmness of a drug dealers gun having a shoot out on the highway.

Or the drunk illegal that just killed a family.

Or the drop house with 50-100 illegals stashed in their as effective hostages until someone pay the Coyote.

Human Smuggling is ok with Liberals, BUT DAMN STRAIGHT WE’LL SAVED THE ANTELOPE!

I found this on The Daily Caller by Jedediah Bila:

I had a horrible nightmare last night that America was being run by a far-left ideologue that was spending our money like it grew on trees, cowering before dictators, and promoting government dependency while self-sufficiency and personal responsibility went by the wayside. Oh wait, never mind. 🙂

President Obama has once again championed political correctness in his criticism of Arizona’s new law to crack down on illegal immigration. As reported by Fox News, “The law makes it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. It also requires local police officers to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants; allows lawsuits against government agencies that hinder enforcement of immigration laws; and makes it illegal to hire illegal immigrants for day labor or knowingly transport them.” Obama responded by calling the law “misguided,” insisting that the failure of the federal government to handle immigration matters responsibly will yield “ . . . irresponsibility by others . . . That includes, for example, the recent efforts in Arizona, which threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans . . . ”

The federal government has had plenty of time to secure our nation from the threats of illegal immigration. Should Arizona sit back and hush up while a few more gangs invade its borders and endanger its citizens? You know, while the federal government takes care of its real priorities, like enforcing a government overhaul of the health care industry and inventing creative ways to disguise job-crippling energy taxes as some sort of green campaign? Kudos to Arizona for stepping up to the plate and doing a job it shouldn’t have to do. In fact, a recent Rasmussen telephone survey reveals that 70% of likely voters in Arizona approve of the legislation.

The important issue here is political correctness. Of course, everyone who supports the legislation has already been labeled racist. I wish the term terrorist rolled off the tongues of the Left with half as much ease as racial profiling. Somehow the crime of being in this country illegally is of far less concern to them than the act of asking someone to show his or her ID. Does the twenty-three-year-old who looks more like seventeen and is asked to show ID at the corner liquor store face age profiling, too? Let me not give them any ideas.

So, much like every liberty-loving American who doesn’t like Barack Obama’s Alinsky-inspired redistributive agenda, security-seeking Arizonians who support the state’s new legislation regarding illegal immigration fit the liberal definition of racist. The fact that the law prohibits officers from conducting an immigration check on the sole basis of one’s nationality or race is, of course, ignored by the Left.

It is imperative that Americans don’t get bullied into silence as a result of the leftist tactic of calling all forms of dissent racist, as the consequences would be dangerous. Such silence would lead to the destruction of our first amendment rights and a passive acceptance of potentially-disastrous policies. Also, tossing the word racist around with persistent ease would yield apathy among Americans when legitimate acts of racism arise that should be condemned. When writing about feminism, I’ve always said that the greatest disservice you can do to a female politician is to criticize or not criticize her policies due to her gender. The same applies to race.

The federal government hasn’t done its job of protecting Arizona. Legal immigration is something that has always been welcomed in this country, as America embraces the productivity and contributions of those from around the world who seek the opportunity our nation fosters. However, the illegal alternative cannot and should not be tolerated.

The bottom line is that the laws of our country should never be compromised in the name of political correctness or any other convenient term that aims to preserve some distorted ideological doctrine of “fairness.” A far-left friend of mine asked me this yesterday: “So, if a group of white, thirty-year-old women were doing something they shouldn’t be doing in Manhattan, and you got stopped by the cops to show ID because they thought you were acting suspiciously, wouldn’t you be offended?” My answer was a resounding no. If I were innocent, then what’s the big deal in flashing my ID? If anything, I’d be grateful that the cops weren’t taking any chances with anyone. And if I were guilty, the proper term isn’t “unfair.” It’s “caught.”

A crime is a crime. Security is of paramount importance. And if that means someone may get a little offended every now and then, so be it.

You’re just a hateful Nazi if you disagree with the Left.

Now that’s the best way to start a reasoned debate on the issue, don’t you think?? 😦

The New Crisis

“Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.”- White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel

Today was going to be the day when the Democrats sprung Part II of their Cap & Trade takeover.

Instead, because of the uproar over Illegal Immigration the Democrats want to pander to their base, Latinos, first.

So here comes the Amnesty Train roaring down the tracks.

That light at the end of the tunnel is the train!

Only this time, the vitriol over you being a racist if you are not for complete Amnesty is going to be even more pronounced.

After all, the Democrats really only have a one page playbook

FEAR

INTIMIDATION

CHARGES OF RACISM

That’s it.

And the pandering will be fierce.

The intimidation will be even more so.

You wouldn’t want to be a racist now would you?

Of course, you’re already one if you disagree with President Obama to begin win.

You stupid, ignorant, racist teabagging hick! 😦

So, the Democrats will use Latinos to pump up their base for November.

Not that they weren’t planning it anyhow, it’s just now they can puff up their chest in righteous indignation more now.

And the Fifth Column/Ministry of truth will be happy to go along with it.

And “Sanctuary City” Phil, the Mayor of Phoenix is having a great getting his mug on TV and proclaiming how outraged he his.

This the man who never met an ILLEGAL ALIEN he didn’t want to abuse for political purposes. And was a great ally of Former Governor Napalitano who now as Homeland Security Secretary is the Fed that said always complained about in her “It’s a Federal problem” pronouncements.

Only, she does even less now.

So, I agree with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) when he says it’s a “cynicial ploy”.

I would just add, with Democrats (and politicians in general) when isn’t?

So lots of chest thumping to come.

But fundamentally, the only thing Democrats want is Amnesty. (Code Phrase: Comprehensive Immigration Reform)

Notice how Liberals use “Comprehensive” when they about screw everyone comprehensively?

Comprehensive Health Care Reform

Comprehensive Financial Reform

Comprehensive Energy Policy

Comprehensive Immigration Reform

They want those 20 million new voters so they can steam roll their way to history and straight over you.

And you’re racist if you don’t want them to. 😦

Unbending the Curve

Since the Latino Activist and The Illegals are focused on Armegeddon and the Nazi Holocaust because Illegal mean Illegal.

I want to focus on a real Armageddon coming down the pike, ObamaCare.

IBD:  An analysis from an objective source — Medicare’s actuary — says ObamaCare will increase costs and relies on projected savings that may be unrealistic. Now isn’t that a surprise?

The Obama administration has been trying hard to find good news in a new report by government experts on the outlook for the health care economy, now at 17% of GDP and continuing to climb.

To HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the analysis confirms that “the Affordable Health Care Act will cover more Americans and strengthen Medicare by cracking down on waste, fraud and abuse.”

More neutral observers will notice that the administration no longer talks about “bending the cost curve” in health care. The analysis released last week by Medicare’s Office of the Actuary tells why. It looks ahead 10 years and reaches two conclusions about the new health care overhaul: More people will be covered, and costs will continue to soar. The cost curve is unbending still.

But since costs wasn’t why The Democrats passed ObamaCare to begin with…

Chief Actuary Richard Foster pegs ObamaCare’s added costs (that is, beyond what was projected without the overhaul in effect) at $311 billion over 10 years. That’s just under 1% of overall expected health care spending, and administration officials are calling that sum a small price to pay for adding 34 million Americans to public or private insurance rolls.

But the president had set a goal of extending coverage without adding any new cost. More to the point, the problem of runaway costs that plagued the pre-overhaul health care system has not been solved. As Foster points out, much of what ObamaCare proposes to reduce the nation’s health tab, especially in Medicare, is politically unrealistic.

The overhaul projects a net decrease in projected Medicare spending (more accurately, a reduction in future spending increases) of more than $400 billion. But Congress has talked this way before and has been notably timid about pulling the trigger.

Under a 1997 law, for instance, a 21% cut in Medicare reimbursements to physicians was supposed to go into effect on April 1. But Congress two weeks later put the cut on hold as part of a bill to extend unemployment benefits. As usual, mobilized doctors and frightened seniors got their way.

This pattern of avoiding politically difficult spending cuts has been going on pretty much since the start of Medicare. ObamaCare promises that this behavior will somehow change. That would be a miracle, and actuaries tend to stick with more mundane probabilities.
And like any good actuary would be, Foster is unimpressed with the cost-reduction side of the ObamaCare equation. He says “the long-term viability of the Medicare … reduction is doubtful.”

Nothing in Foster’s report should come as a surprise, since it was clear from an early stage in the health care debate that the Democratic Party had one overriding goal — universal coverage or something close to it — with cost-reduction secondary.

The cost-cutting promises served mainly to obscure the actual price tag of the overhaul in future taxes and deficits. They were a means to the end of extending insurance, and to that degree they worked — as politics. But as policy they are empty promises.

Foster’s study is further evidence of how badly ObamaCare missed the point. All along, high cost has been the fundamental problem with American health care; the lack of universal coverage was only one symptom. To put it another way, the problem of coverage would have been solved long ago, largely by the private sector, if the medical tab in the U.S. were more like that in other advanced nations.

At 17% of GDP and rising, the nation’s health care economy is a case study in how to structure incentives, price signals (if any) and buying power to maximize inflation. Those who receive services hardly ever pay for them directly, and prices are rarely revealed, much less advertised.

Providers long ago learned the power of lobbying to keep the money rolling in and to defeat any attempts at fiscal restraint. What was billed as “reform,” in other words, actually reformed nothing.

But gave the government the in-road to taking it over completely, which was the plan all along…

And while the full effects of ObamaCare might not be felt until Tax Day 2014, the promise of free health care to millions of Americans will begin to prove hollow long before then.

Already Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., says the public option might not be dead if insurance companies do not offer competitive rates within the exchanges. And Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, has revived a proposal that gives the secretary of health and human services the power to review premiums and block any rate increase bound to be “unreasonable.”

America’s primary care system is already under stress. Low reimbursement rates, bureaucratic paperwork and long hours are driving family physicians out of medicine and pushing new doctors into specialized practices. Half a century ago, one in two doctors practiced general medicine. Today, 7 in 10 specialize.

And the gap is growing. A mere 1 in 12 medical-school graduates now head to family medicine. In 2009, the American Academy of Family Physicians warned that we’d be short 40,000 family doctors in a decade, if present trends continued. Today, medical schools produce one primary care doctor for every two who are needed.

ObamaCare will add strain to an already burdened system. The new bill seeks to increase the load on family doctors while holding the line on costs by putting price controls on government insurance plans. In due course, price controls on private plans will be inevitable.

We saw them come into effect on April 1 in Massachusetts, when the state Division of Insurance rejected 235 of 274 premium increases proposed by insurers for individuals and small businesses. The rate increases — ranging from 8% to 32% — were deemed excessive.

The combination of increased coverage and emphasis on primary care, experts say, will increase demand for primary care docs by as much as 29%, or 44,000 doctors, over the next 15 years.

But just as demand is increasing, doctors are making plans to exit. A 2009 survey by medical recruiters Merritt Hawkins found that 10% of respondents were planning to leave medicine within three years.

Another poll of physicians conducted in 2009 by Investor’s Business Daily found that 45% of doctors would consider early retirement if ObamaCare passed.

So higher demand and lower supply equals what exactly? 🙂

The LAW of the Left

Gov. Brewer signed the Immigration Bill.

So naturally, a hellfire storm of Latino “activists” have start swarm and the Liberal left  is all appalled by our “racism” and “racial profiling”.

The Politically Correct have gone mad.

These are the same people who will kiss the ass of any Muslim so as not to offend them, ever.

It has to be about Race.

It can’t be about being Illegal.

The left can’t even call them that.

The Orwellian self-censoring of even the concept of  “Illegal Immigration” is so far gone that the Left doesn’t even understand the concept, thus they don’t understand the anger.

Gee, where have we had this experience lately?? 😦

But their anger at our political incorrectness is also missed by them.

They are righteously indignant about our political incorrectness.

Yet, the political courage when you’re running for election (since she was appointed when Illegal Lover now Homeland Security Secretary Former Gov Napolitano left to join her new meal ticket out of the morass she left) to piss of the holy untouchable “latino vote”.

Problem, she’s not really.

She’s just pissing off the Liberal Left’s Latino Activist and Mob Vote which wasn’t going to vote for a Republican anyhow.

Crimestop is a Newspeak term taken from the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. It means to rid oneself of unwanted thoughts, i.e. thoughts that interfere with the ideology of the Party. This way, a person avoids committing thoughtcrime.

In the novel, we hear about crimestop through the eyes of protagonist Winston Smith:
“     The mind should develop a blind spot whenever a dangerous thought presented itself. The process should be automatic, instinctive. Crimestop, they called it in Newspeak.

He set to work to exercise himself in crimestop. He presented himself with propositions — ‘the Party says the earth is flat’, ‘the party says that ice is heavier than water’ — and trained himself in not seeing or not understanding the arguments that contradicted them.

Orwell also describes crimestop from the perspective of Emmanuel Goldstein in the book The Theory and Practice Of Oligarchical Collectivism:
“     Crimestop means the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments if they are inimical to Ingsoc, and of being bored or repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a heretical direction. Crimestop, in short, means protective stupidity.

So ILLEGAL ALIENS are “undocumented” and when they actually mention legal status like the outraged Latino Leftist last night on CNN’s Anderson Cooper, “law abiding undocumented”

Doublethink: The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them….To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies — all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth.

So the person who came illegally can now be a law-abiding citizen of a country that they are illegal occupying and not a citizen of.

And since that doesn’t work as well as the Left would like…it’s back to basics.

You’re a racist!

You disagree with the Left, you’re a racist. Period.

That should shut you up and make you do as you’re told! 🙂

Earlier Friday, Obama called the Arizona bill “misguided” and instructed the Justice Department to examine it to see if it’s legal. He also said the federal government must enact immigration reform at the national level – or leave the door open to “irresponsibility by others.”

The “reform” Obama talks about is Amnesty.

Former Governor Napolitano who’s big excuse every time it came up was “it’s a federal problem” is the now the Fed and she stop the programs, like building a promised fence because she never wanted to do it anyhow.

Amnesty, that’s the only solution the Left wants.

And as for “misguided” that’s a nice Liberal condescending word for “racist”.

The law sends “a clear message that Arizona is unfriendly to undocumented aliens,” said Peter Spiro, a Temple University law professor and author of the book “Beyond Citizenship: American Identity After Globalization.”

The Left is incapable of using the proper term because it’s a ThoughtCrime to say “ILLEGAL ALIEN”

It’s much easier to just yell “racist” and end all rational debate.

Not that you can have one anyhow with the Left to begin with 🙂

“Police in Arizona already treat migrants worse than animals,” said Francisco Loureiro, an activist who runs a migrant shelter in the border town of Nogales, Mexico.

“Migrant shelter” = Human Smuggling Operation…where people ARE treated like animals… 😦

Anti-immigrant anger has swelled in the past month, after rancher Rob Krentz was found dead on his land north of Douglas, near the Mexico border. Authorities believe he was fatally shot by an illegal immigrant possibly connected to a drug smuggling cartel.

Anti-Immigrant?

How about Anti- ILLEGAL Immigrant?

And what about the Drug cartels and the violence.

The Left wants to ignore it as much as possible.

It’s too inconvenient mentally.

“Today we celebrate the very essence of the country that we all love — an America where so many of our forbearers came from someplace else,” said Obama, whose father was Kenyan.

“And so on a day like this, we are also reminded of how we must remain both a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws,” he said. “This includes fixing America’s broken immigration system.”

So we fix it by giving everyone who came her illegally amnesty and we ignore the Border after that because we fixed the problem.

Notice, the word Illegal never comes up. And we honor our forebearers by having a completely Open Border that care not whether you come here illegally or not because likely you’ll be a Democrat when we forgive you anyhow.

And when it occurs again, we do it again.

It’s better than being a racist! 🙂

“Our failure to act responsibly at the federal level will only open the door to irresponsibility by others,” Obama said.

So your failure means we have to have Amnesty and forgive all those who trespass against us.

And that irresponsibility is to do something about closing our borders and treating Illegal Aliens as, well ILLEGAL.

Now isn’t that backwards?

Of course it is.

But it’s Politically Correct. And Orwellianly Correct.

What part of Illegal doesn’t the Left get?

All of it.

It’s not “fair” that they came here Illegally and we want to treat like they came here Illegally.

It’s not “fair” to the children.

Children, fear, “fairness” and “Racism”.

The pure distillation of just about any Leftist.

Illegal is only Illegal when it’s NOT a Leftist.

So what’s left is the hate from the LEFT. they will continue to spew like the Icelandic Volcano raining ashes of Doublethink and Crimsetop across the land until even the thought of  Illegal unless they say so is the LAW. 🙂

The Upside Down World of Liberals

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Crying “Raise our taxes!” and “Show some guts!”, thousands of people rallied at the state Capitol on Wednesday to protest lawmakers’ inaction on a tax hike to fix a $13 billion deficit.

The secretary of state’s police estimated 15,000 people showed up, making it one of the largest rallies in Illinois Statehouse history.

Most of those participating in the “Save Our State” rally, organized by a coalition of more than 200 public-service organizations, marched in the streets around the Statehouse. They called for an income-tax increase to avoid deep budget cuts that would hit education, law enforcement and services for young children, the elderly, the handicapped and the homeless.

Legislators were in session at the time, even as hundreds finished the march by crowding into the Capitol, filling three floors of the rotunda.

“It gives me goose bumps,” said Lisa Lafrank of Collinsville, a second-year special education teacher who is bracing for a second round of layoff notices at her school district. “You realize there are so many other organizations facing the same cuts and have the same problem.”

Speakers at the rally pleaded for a House vote on a measure, approved by the Senate last year, that would increase the personal tax rate by two-thirds. House Democrats have been reluctant to vote on it without support from minority Republicans, who call for spending reductions.

Gov. Pat Quinn has offered his own tax proposal, calling for a one-third increase, but there is no sign that lawmakers are interested in voting on that idea either. Even if a tax increase were to pass, the deficit is so large that some spending and service cuts are likely.

Amid signs that read, “Cut the bull, not the budget” and “Wanted: Responsible legislators,” was 18-year-old Meliqua Page of Chicago, now a college student who has benefited from a youth homeless program that was cut by more than $1 million last year.

“We came out here,” Page said, “to show that the little people do matter.”

Yes, folks, it’s public sector Liberals protesting that our taxes are not high enough to pay for their pensions, benefits, and entitlements.

And yes, they are lobbying Democrats to raise taxes.

Lobbying them.

Think about that one.

Raising Taxes is as natural as breathing to Liberals.

But these are largely not private sector employees. These are public and government sector employees who know that union pensions are going south so they want you to pay more for their pensions and entitlements.

Most of the rest are people who don’t want their entitlement drugs cut.

It’s all about them.

Now that is a Liberal trait.

But a Pro-Tax Increase Rally!!!

The world is truly upside down and backwards!

Van Jones, disgraced White House “green” Czar (he was only an avowed Communist and 9/11 Truther) said recently, “There are way more jobs putting up solar panels, building smart batteries, making wind turbines, putting them up, than we will ever have again in America in the coal lines. Period.”

Currently, solar panels cost around $70,0000 for a full on run of them apparently.

Yeah, I have that, no problem… 😦

Then there’s “Cash for Caulkers”, Stimulus money for weatherizing homes.

Weatherization really does save money–but the government sucks at making it happen:

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, which prior to the Obama administration had an annual weatherization budget of $13 million, committed to spending $327 million in stimulus funds to weatherize 56,000 homes by 2012.

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs had only managed to weatherize 47 homes with its 50-fold budget as of the Sept. 30, 2009, stimulus reporting deadline. According to CNN, the stipulations surrounding stimulus spending are so complex that Texas “had to set up training academies to teach people how to manage the federal money,” which drastically slowed the weatherization process.

So, Texas can’t weatherize efficiently with a 50x-larger budget, and solar panels are still prohibitively expensive, and Van Jones calls subsidizing both a “fiscally conservative” energy policy? (Daily Caller)

So waste billions on re-inventing the wheel that isn’t better than or less expensive than the current model and call that “fiscally conservative”, now if that’s not upside down logic what is?

That’s like a lot of Liberalism, when you’re broke, Spend Even More!

And Now for a Little Humor: The Gecko Got Fired!!

Or at least his voice did.

A voice-over actor — best known for telling viewers they can save 15 percent or more on car insurance — says he lost his gig doing Geico commercials after leaving a voicemail with a group that organizes Tea Party events to ask how many of its employees are “mentally retarded.”

Los Angeles actor Lance Baxter aka D.C. Douglas in a press release said he was dropped from the upcoming Geico “Shocking News” campaign after leaving a message with the press shop at FreedomWorks, a Washington-based organization led by former Republican leader Dick Armey that has been at the forefront of the Tea Party movement.

“I called as a private citizen to make a complaint,” Douglas said of the message he left with FreedomWorks. “Racism and homophobia are my Achilles heal, but unfortunately my message included inappropriate words and I am sorry for that. However, telling their members to harass my employer to get me fired is an egregiously disproportionate response to my actions.”

FreedomWorks Chief Executive Matt Kibbe posted audio of the phone call online. In the message, Douglas claimed to be working on a written piece, and said he wanted to know the percentage of “mentally retarded” employees at FreedomWorks. He also asked its policy on how they will spin the news when “your members actually kill someone.”

Geico has since held auditions to replace Douglas voice on the commercials, he said. He said he has “consulted with several Los Angeles attorneys and has been advised that FreedomWorks’ actions were questionable.”

In the release, Douglas says he doesn’t plan to spend any money to sue FreedomWorks, but he’d like to find an attorney to sue pro-bono for him. (Daily Caller)

The message: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAB0-0Vbff0

Yeah, he’s mad, but he wants his payback for it for free!

Maybe they can save him 15% on his next gig…Or maybe he can team up with Tiger Woods! 🙂

Take VAT America!

Before deciding what revenue options are best for dealing with the deficit and the economy, Obama said in an interview with CNBC, “I want to get a better picture of what our options are.”

For days, White House spokesmen have said the president has not proposed and is not considering a VAT.

“I think I directly answered this the other day by saying that it wasn’t something that the president had under consideration,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters shortly before Obama spoke with CNBC.

After the interview, White House deputy communications director Jen Psaki said nothing has changed and the White House is “not considering” a VAT. (yahoo)

Translation: it’s coming, we just haven’t figured out what color lipstick to put on this pig.

He said his first priority “is to figure out how can we reduce wasteful spending so that, you know, we have a baseline of the core services that we need and the government should provide. And then we decide how do we pay for that.”

Reduce Wasteful Spending??

REDUCE WASTEFUL SPENDING??!!!!

$%&*^$%#@$^*%#!@!@#^!!!!!!!

Now juxtapose this comment against: Health Care, Bailiouts, GM, Chrysler, AIG, Cap & Trade, Global Warming,Wall Street Demonization and Financial Reform and you just have to conclude they are either the most aethical people who just say whatever the hell they want to at that moment and expect you to believe it, or that they believe wholeheartedly that you really are mind numbingly stupid!

Ask almost anyone — economists, politicians, entrepreneurs, average Americans — and they’ll tell you a value-added tax is a bad idea. So why does the White House continue to consider it?

After hearing VAT opponents smeared as anti-government radicals and worse, we decided to poll Americans on the issue. What our IBD/TIPP poll found was surprising: Not only is the VAT unpopular, but it’s unpopular across the board, regardless of political affiliation.

Overall, Americans oppose a VAT by 73% to 22%. Republicans, as might be expected, feel the strongest: 83% against, 14% for. But even Democrats oppose it 65% to 27%. Independents stand somewhere in between (see chart).

We’re not surprised. A VAT would be a huge new tax on all levels of income, including the poor and the middle class. That, even as Americans have made it clear in poll after poll that they feel overtaxed — and that government spending is the problem.

And they’re right. To eliminate expected deficits of $12 trillion over the next 10 years, the VAT would have to be enormous.

It’s been estimated that a 5% VAT would generate $250 billion in annual revenues. So to get rid of the $1 trillion annual deficits expected through 2020 would require a value-added tax of 20%. And that’s in addition to all the taxes we already pay at every level of government. Such a tax burden would kill innovation, jobs and economic growth. Our economy would be more like those of the stagnant, debt-ridden European Union, where the VAT averages close to 20%.

A Chamber of Commerce study suggests that spending in countries with a VAT grows 45% faster than in non-VAT countries. A VAT, it seems, emboldens money-drunk politicians to spend even more on expanding the welfare state.

That’s why, as unpopular as it is, Democratic politicians in the White House and Congress can’t quite let go of the idea.(IBD)

The idea of cutting spending is not even a wisp of an after-thought with these guys.

It’s about how do we spend even more.

Which means we have to raise money money to cover it.

And does absolutely nothing for the debt and deficit we already have.

But damn it feels good to spend like there’s no tomorrow.

And for a Government that wants to take over everything and everybody, that’s a lot of money.

But they haven’t come up with the used car salesman pitch yet.

And most likely, the demon to polarize it with.

So what if it’s unpopular even with Democrats.

It’s not like they really care what anyone things outside of the Capital area.

It’s not hard to figure out why. According to the American Institute for Economic Research, federal tax revenues in 2009 shriveled by $400 billion from the year before to the lowest level of taxes as a share of GDP — 15% — since 1950.

That’s a huge revenue hole, and it comes at a time when total federal spending through 2020 is expected to surge nearly 70% to $45 trillion. To fill the hole, Washington wants more of your money.

And considering Medicare projection of it’s first 25 years were off by 900% that makes Health Care a country buster in the next generation.

So unless we all want to work for our Feudal Lord Democrat and pay more in taxes than you earn regardless of income level,  the drug addicts in Washington have to go the Spending Patch and their has to be a Voter/Taxpayer Intervention  and we need to ween them and us off dependency and return to self-reliance and fiscally sound policies.

OR ELSE!

The Democrat Convenience Store

Alinsky Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it.

Obama and The Democrats want to control the Financial Sector next. Or at the very least, scare them or scar them into compliance.

So the Next great Boogeyman has emerged from the Democrats.

First (and still champ) was George W. Bush.

Then it Halliburton.

Then it was The Banks.

Then it was the Insurance Industry.

Now it’s Wall Street.

Specifically Goldman Sachs.

Obama and The Democrats have their target.

But they also have some real problems.

Rep. Darrell Issa, the top Republican on the House Oversight committee, is demanding a slew of documents from the Securities and Exchange Commission, asserting that the timing of civil charges against Goldman Sachs raises “serious questions about the commission’s independence and impartiality.”

Issa’s letter, addressed to SEC Chairwoman Mary Schapiro and signed by eight other House Republicans, asks whether the commission had any contact about the case, prior to its public release, with White House aides, Democratic Party committee officials, or members of Congress or their staff.

“[W]e are concerned that politics have unduly influenced the decision and timing of the commission’s controversial enforcement action against Goldman,” Issa writes.

Issa implied that the timing was a bit too convenient, saying President Barack Obama’s push on Wall Street reform “neatly coincided with the commission’s announcement of the suit.”

And if that wasn’t enough, Obama took nearly a million dollars in campaign contributions from Goldman Sachs, and a former White Aide is now a lawyer for Goldman Sachs!

(Former White House counsel Greg Craig has just signed on as an institutional Sherpa for Goldman Sachs, the iconic financial firm facing fraud charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission.)

“The Goldman litigation … has been widely cited by Democrats in support of the financial regulatory legislation currently before the United States Senate,” Issa writes. “The American people have a right to know whether the commission, or any of its officers or employees, may have violated federal law by using the resources of an independent regulatory agency to promote a partisan political agenda.

…“[T]he events of the past five days have fueled legitimate suspicion on the part of the American people that the commission has attempted to assist the White House, the Democratic Party, and Congressional Democrats by timing the suit to coincide with the Senate’s consideration of financial regulatory legislation, or by providing Democrats with advance notice.”

The Democrats would never stoop to that level of intimidation and misuse of government power, now would they…..

In fact, the aggressive campaign by Democrats in support of the legislation neatly coincided with the Commission’s announcement of the suit. For example:

–The Commission approved the Goldman suit in a vote that spit along party lines – a rare occurrence for approvals of enforcement litigation.

–Before the Commission had released its announcement, the New York Times published on its website a story describing the suit.

–Less than half an hour after the Times story’s publication, Organizing for America, the successor organization to Obama for America and now a project of the Democratic National Committee (“DNC”), sent millions of supporters an e-mail message from President Obama urging support for “Wall Street Reform.”

–Within hours, the Democratic National Committee had purchased AdWords advertising from Google, Inc. The DNC’s Google campaign fundraising advertisement, headed “Fight Wall Street Greed,” appeared whenever a user ran a Google search for the phrase “Goldman Sachs SEC.” It read, “Help Pres. Obama Reform Wall Street and Create Jobs. Families First!” and included a link to http://www.BarackObama.com, the website of Organizing for America.

–Democrats in Congress and the Administration have heralded the Commission’s suit against Goldman as a welcome boost to their case for the legislation.

–Members of the media have already begun to question the timing of the Commission’s suit and the actions of the Democratic National Committee.

As supported by the Commission’s canons of ethics, and as frequently reiterated by you and other Commissioners, the unqualified independence of financial regulators is crucial to the health of the financial system and the U.S. economy. For this reason, doubts about whether the Commission has scrupulously guarded its independence from the Administration’s partisan political agenda and concerted efforts to manipulate Congressional action are very serious, and should be addressed with full transparency.

Transparency, oooh there’s that word again… 🙂

President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats are promising a climactic clash with Wall Street, but there’s a complication in their battle plan: The Democratic Party is closer to corporate America — and to Wall Street in particular — than many Democrats would care to admit. (or the Media for that matter)

Former House Democratic leader Dick Gephardt lobbies for Goldman Sachs, Visa and the coal industry. Former Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle — Obama’s first choice to head Health and Human Services — is an adviser for a lobbying firm that represents Charles Schwab, Comcast, Lockheed Martin, Verizon and a host of other corporate interests.

Attorney General Eric Holder once lobbied for Global Crossing — sometimes described as the Democratic Enron — and White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel made eight figures in a little more than two years as the Chicago-based managing director at Wasserstein Perella & Co. between jobs as a senior aide in President Bill Clinton’s White House and as the congressman representing Illinois’s 5th District.

And the Democrats rode to their majorities in the House and the Senate on a wave of cash Emanuel and New York Sen. Chuck Schumer helped them raise from Wall Street. Earlier this month, a hedge fund manager at the center of the Goldman Sachs fraud case held a fundraiser for Schumer in New York. (Politico)

Whoops!

Let’s Make sure the Ministry of Truth Media buries that!!

Goldman Sachs and its employees and family members gave $5.9 million to candidates in the 2007-2008 election cycle, the Washington-based center’s data shows. Three-quarters of that went to Democrats, the non-partisan group said. (Bloomberg)

The SEC filed a civil suit on April 16 alleging the firm failed to tell investors in a 2007 collateralized debt obligation that hedge fund Paulson & Co., which planned to bet against the CDO, helped select the underlying assets.

Goldman Sachs has denied the SEC’s accusations and Greg Palm, co-general counsel, told analysts on a conference call today that the firm didn’t intentionally mislead anyone.

Wall Street provided three of Obama’s seven biggest sources of contributors for his presidential bid. In 2007 and 2008, Goldman Sachs employees and family members gave him $994,795, Citigroup Inc. $701,290, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. $695,132.

The only friends of  Democrats are friends of convenience.

“Every day we don’t act, the same system that led to bailouts remains in place, with the exact same loopholes and the exact same liabilities,” President Obama says. “And if we don’t change what led to the crisis, we’ll doom ourselves to repeat it.”(IBD)

Sound Familiar??

And rest assured, you will hear it over and over…

It’s convenient.

Playing The System

Democrats claim their newly passed health insurance reform will eventually provide health coverage for more than 30 million uninsured people. Don’t bet on it.

I doubt they are betting on it, it just sounded good. After all, as I have said, the Health Care Reform bill wasn’t about covering people and lowering costs, it was strictly about Government control of who lives and who dies. Control of Life itself.

Eventually.

The poison in the bill has to have time to kill off Private Industry first.

The key to achieving that goal, Democrats believe — along with expanding Medicaid and subsidies for buying coverage — is the individual mandate, which requires individuals to have health insurance or pay a fine. The mandate is supposed to push nearly everyone into the pool to minimize free-riding on the system. But what if millions of Americans decide it’s a better deal to pay the fine and remain uninsured until they need coverage?

And they will. And so will companies.

That is, when the government catches up to them.

There was a guy on the radio last week who has lives in Socialist Utopia of Massachusetts that has had no health insurance since the law was passed 4 years ago.

He hasn’t received an letters about fines until now, 4 years later.

He still can’t afford the insurance, even in Massachusetts…

Imagine that Nationwide.

Sure, the IRS is hiring new people, but not to go after you for Health Insurance…right….

It appears that’s exactly what’s happening in Massachusetts, which passed its own ObamaCare-like reform with an individual mandate in 2006.

Last year, Charles Baker, former CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, one of Massachusetts’s largest health plans, noticed some health insurance brokers posting comments on his widely read blog. They were suspicious that people were applying for health coverage after a medical condition developed, got the care they needed, and then dropped the coverage.

Coverage for an individual, noted Mr. Baker, now a Republican candidate for governor, might be $2,000 to $3,000 a year, while the penalty was only about $900. So he asked his finance people to see if they noticed any discernible patterns. Boy, did they.

From April 2008 to March 2009, 40% of the individuals who applied to Harvard Pilgrim stayed covered for less than five months. Yet claims were averaging about $2,400 a month, about six times what one would expect.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts has now confirmed it is experiencing similar problems. The company says that in 2009, 936 people signed up for three months or less and ran up claims of more than $1,000.

The disparity between the cost of expensive coverage and the fine for not getting it encourages individuals buying their own coverage — i.e., those not in an employer plan — to game the system by paying the fine and remaining uninsured until they need coverage.

Insurers have long recognized this problem, known as “adverse selection,” which is why every type of insurance normally restricts people from obtaining coverage after an incident has occurred. Someone can’t, for example, buy a homeowners policy for a house that is already on fire. But Democrats have decided to do away with that basic actuarial principle with regard to health insurance.

And they did it because, to do otherwise would not get them to their goal: Total control of who lives and who dies.

Remember, this “reform” was not about reform the Private sector, it was about destroying it, so the Government–a Liberal Government– could step and save you from the evil capitalists and control you.

Screw actuarial principles.

After all, when the government controls everything what actuarial principle will be left??

If they need more money they will either print it, borrow it or just raise taxes.

It’s not like you’ll have a choice by then.

That means it’s all about the penalties. Under the existing Massachusetts law, Bay Staters face a penalty of perhaps a half to a third of the cost of the premium. And yet, as Mr. Baker indicates, there appears to be a lot of gaming going on.

ObamaCare, by contrast, has a minimum individual penalty of $95 in 2014, $325 in 2015, rising up to 2.5% of income (or $2,085 maximum) per family in 2016. So the first-year spread between the penalty and the cost of coverage for an individual may be 20-to-1 or 30-to-1. Think that might encourage even more gaming than they are seeing in Massachusetts?

In supporting the individual mandate, Democrats frequently cite the fact that nearly every state requires drivers to purchase auto insurance. But that mandate hasn’t gotten everyone insured. Auto insurance mandates usually have fairly low penalties, and they are often sporadically enforced. And so people game that system, too.

And then there’s the fact that if you don’t have an auto, you are not required to have insurance.

Whoops!

Indeed, the problem of uninsured drivers is so bad that many states require drivers to buy uninsured motorist coverage to protect them from all of those drivers who are required to have auto insurance but don’t.

The growing adverse selection problem has some Massachusetts officials considering other options; the governor has proposed legislation for a semi-annual open-enrollment period. That’s where people would have a limited time to enter the system or change health plans. Open enrollments don’t solve all the problems, but they help.

To be sure, the higher penalties in Obama-Care’s out years will discourage some gaming of the system, but they won’t eliminate it — not as long as there is a gap between the cost of coverage and a penalty. And that’s only if Congress keeps the current penalty schedule.

The Congressional Budget estimates the government will collect $17 billion in penalties from individuals over 10 years. But members of Congress don’t like penalizing their constituents, and there will be a lot of pressure to delay or reduce the penalties, just as there was when the 2003 Medicare prescription drug benefit was being implemented.

But then the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was never about creating an actuarially or financially sound health care system; it was about creating a new entitlement where everyone has coverage — when they need it. (IBD)

Regardless.

It sounds “fair”

And the Government gets to save you from the evil capitalists when this unsound economics drives them to raise premiums so much that they are driven out of business.

Then the Government owns your health.

And there is no one left to game, but The IRS.

Good Luck with that. 😦

Thank you, Mr Golfer

On a cool but sun-drenched Sunday, the president and three golfing companions went to Andrews Air Force Base to play 18 holes. It is the 32nd time Mr. Obama has played golf since taking office Jan. 20, 2009, according to CBS Radio’s Mark Knoller.

He says he could go to the Polish president’s funeral because of the volcano in Iceland.

But He also can’t seem to find the Polish Embassy in Washington D.C. either

Mr. Obama has not gone to the Polish Embassy in Washington since the accident, but Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. both have. There, they signed a condolence book.

But then again, the Polish are not Muslim or a Dictatorship he wants to grin and bow to so i guess they aren’t that important.

Mr. Obama has played golf far more often than former President George W. Bush. In his eight years in office, Mr. Bush played just 24 times. His last time as president was Oct. 13, 2003. (or nearly 3 years).

And Our dear President was mock offended by the Tea Parties last week when we didn’t bow down and kiss hiss ring because he has cut our taxes, according to him.

The truth as usual is something else entirely…

IBD: As the Associated Press reported Thursday, the president said he was “amused” by the Tea Party faithful gathering in cities across America to protest soaring government spending, ballooning debt and the explosion in taxes that will be needed to pay for it all.

“You would think they’d be saying thank you,” he said.

And why should they be thankful? As the president himself said on his weekly radio address a week ago, “one thing we have not done is raise income taxes on families making less than $250,000; that’s another promise we kept.”

In fact, that wasn’t his promise at all.

Here’s what candidate Obama really said in September of 2008: “Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”

Got that? “Not any of your taxes.” The claim of no tax hikes on those below $250,000 as a result of the current administration’s policies is completely and utterly false.

A report from the House Ways & Means Committee’s GOP members notes that, since January 2009, Congress and the president have enacted $670 billion in tax increases. That’s $2,100 for each person in America. At least 14 of those tax hikes, the report says, break Obama’s pledge not to raise taxes on those earning less than $250,000. Roughly $316 billion of the tax hikes — 14 increases in all — hit middle-class families, the report says.

This comes in addition to recent data from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office showing U.S. spending and indebtedness growing at an alarming rate. Government spending now totals 25% of GDP, a quarter above its long-term average. By 2035, it will hit 34% of GDP at current trends — a 70% increase in the real size of government in just 25 years.

More spending means more debt. In 2008, total federal publicly held debt was about $8.5 trillion — an amount Uncle Sam took 220 years to accumulate. By 2020, that will soar to $20.3 trillion, a 139% jump. No surprise the Government Accountability Office last week said the U.S. is on “an unsustainable long-term fiscal path.”
So let’s see: The administration and its allies in Congress pass what can only be called the most financially irresponsible series of bills in our nation’s history, imposing a crushing tax burden on our children and our children’s children, while lowering all Americans’ standard of living, and we should thank them for it?

This is the delusional thinking that’s led to the Tea Party Movement’s soaring popularity. The hundreds of thousands that turned out around the country on April 15 were objecting to the systematic ruin and loss of liberty that massive fiscal irresponsibility brings.

Given all this, no one should be shocked that 52% of Americans in a recent New York Times/CBS Poll said President Obama’s policies are moving the U.S. towards socialism. It’s that serious.

The president can belittle people all he wants. That’s his prerogative. But he ignores Tea Partyers at his own political peril. They will not go away or be mollified by the usual prevarications.

Democrats ridicule Tea Party followers as yahoos, racists and illiterates, a mob willing to be led. They are anything but. Indeed, they have shown their seriousness by putting out their own “Contract From America.”

It’s a common sense document, proposing 10 concrete steps to bring sanity back to our government and make it accountable once again. Sadly, the mainstream media won’t cover it. But if you’re interested, go to http://www.thecontract.org, and see if you don’t agree.

Or you could just go play some golf…

Get your Fannie and Freddie Here

The Obama administration says it wants to “reform” Fannie and Freddie. But it won’t propose legislation to revamp the mortgage companies until next year, if even then. And in testimony last week, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan circled the wagons around the “affordable housing mandates” that pushed Fannie and Freddie into the risky subprime market.

“As we work to reform our housing finance system, it is essential to keep in mind our broader housing policy goals,” he said. “A reformed housing finance system should ensure broad access to mortgage credit for minorities.” Here we go again.

Fannie and Freddie over the decades have facilitated “an important democratization of credit,” Donovan said. Yes, and they’re now hit hardest by foreclosures from this failed social experiment.

Never mind that. Donovan asserted that “ensuring that homeownership opportunities are available to members of these communities should remain a priority.”

aka “poor” and “minority” (aka Democrats)

It’s plain that Donovan, like other housing-rights activists, has not learned any lessons from the subprime scandal. He’s also in denial about HUD’s role in it, arguing that the affordable housing goals it foisted on Fannie and Freddie were not the cause of their collapse.

Rather, he claims, the mortgage giants underwrote risky subprime loans and securities simply to increase profits.

But officials with both firms swear their hands were forced by HUD. They testified they had to lower their underwriting standards and absorb substantial costs to meet HUD’s political mandates. That, of course, is no way to make a profit.

In fact, HUD in 2000 required Fannie and Freddie to underwrite fully half of their mortgages for lower-income, higher-risk borrowers — a quota that remained in effect for the rest of the decade.

Starting in 1997, Fannie began offering a 97% loan-to-value mortgage — well above the standard 80% LTV. And by 2001, it was offering mortgages with no down payment at all, along with other deficiencies.

The promised reforms of these failed government-sponsored enterprises are a farce. Democrats are not going to relinquish control of Fannie and Freddie. They’ll remain wholly owned subsidiaries of the Democratic Party.

The federal government — which shouldn’t be involved in the mortgage business at all — now controls virtually 100% of the secondary mortgage market. This is outrageous considering the government caused the failure of Fannie and Freddie, not the market.

If the government owns Fannie and Freddie, politicians will run it for their political clients, not shareholders, like their own personal piggy banks.

You mean like the IOU’s in Social Security?

Nah, they’d never do that… 🙂

And use control of this industry for their own gain, nah, Democrats would never ever do that… 🙂

There motives are as pure as the driven snow… 🙂

The government own car companies GM and Chrysler.

It owns an Insurance giant AIG.

It owns the secondary Mortgage Market.

It wants to own Health Insurance through it’s slow acting poison of a Health Care Reform Bill.

But their not socialists…. 🙂

Next Up, Wall Street and Energy…

But their not socialists….

The government used the congressionally chartered mortgage giants — who together control over half of all mortgages — for political purposes, such as helping questionable low-income borrowers and boosting minority homeownership.

As a result, they made bad economic decisions that sank the entire mortgage industry, destroyed homeowner equity and cost taxpayers $400 billion (and counting). (IBD)

The damage from the politically motivate Health Care may not be known for years. Just like the manipulations of the Mortgage market started in the 1990s and took over 10 years to crash.

But remember, according to them it wasn’t their fault. They regulated it into failure, but it wasn’t their fault.

It was Wall Street . Those damn evil capitalist and their derivatives.

And just when Obama and Co want to pass sweeping new reforms.

Funny how that worked out.

“Never let a serious crisis go to waste…it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.” – Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel

Even if you have to lay it on your opponent first. Then claim it’s a crisis.

It’s their fault!

Words Matter

Former President Bill Clinton warned of a slippery slope from angry anti-government rhetoric to violence like the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, saying “the words we use really do matter.”

Like “Hope and Change”??

“That depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is??”

“Oversees contingency Operation”??

“Terrorism”??

“Terrorist”??

“Racist”??

“Homophobe”??

“Extremist”??

“Ignorant hick”

Yes, Mr. Former President words do matter, but these matter to Liberals. They are meant to be censored, downplayed, discredited, and/or pissed on.

CBS/NYT wants to dismiss the people with “white, highly educated, rich people” but yet they are also “ignorant, racist hicks” according to the media.

Because, like Bill said, words matter. And to Liberals the word matters as a weapon to be used to destroy, obfuscate, or deny their opposition the ability to speak clearly and properly.

At least that’s the goal.

It’s Orwell time again.

Newspeak : In the novel by Orwell, it is described as being “the only language in the world whose vocabulary gets smaller every year”.

One character, Syme, says admiringly of the shrinking volume of the new dictionary: “It’s a beautiful thing, the destruction of words.”

The destruction of thought. If you can’t think in opposition, you can’t be in opposition.

Duckspeak is a Newspeak term meaning literally to quack like a duck  or to speak without thinking. Duckspeak can be either good or “ungood” (bad), depending on who is speaking, and whether what they are saying is in following with the ideals of Big Brother. To speak rubbish and lies may be ungood, but to speak rubbish and lies for the good of “The Party” may be good. In the appendix to 1984, Orwell explains:
“     Ultimately it was hoped to make articulate speech issue from the larynx without involving the higher brain centres at all. This aim was frankly admitted in the Newspeak word duckspeak […]. Like various words in the B vocabulary, duckspeak was ambivalent in meaning. Provided that the opinions which were quacked out were orthodox ones, it implied nothing but praise, and when the Times referred to one of the orators of the Party as a doubleplusgood duckspeaker it was paying a warm and valued compliment.

Crimethink is the Newspeak word for thoughtcrime  (thoughts that are unorthodox, or are outside the official government platform), as well as the verb meaning “to commit thoughtcrime”. Goodthink, which is approved by the Party, is the opposite of crimethink.
In the book, Winston Smith, the main character, writes in his diary:
“Thoughtcrime does not entail death: thoughtcrime IS death.”

The Ministry of Truth is involved with news media, entertainment, the fine arts and educational books. Its purpose is to rewrite history and change the facts to fit Party doctrine for propaganda  effect. For example, if Big Brother makes a prediction that turns out to be wrong, the employees of the Ministry of Truth go back and rewrite the prediction so that any prediction Big Brother previously made is accurate. This is the “how” of the Ministry of Truth’s existence. Within the novel Orwell elaborates that the deeper reason for its existence is to maintain the illusion that the Party is absolute. It cannot ever seem to change its mind (if, for instance, they perform one of their constant changes regarding enemies during war) or make a mistake (firing an official or making a grossly misjudged supply prediction), for that would imply weakness and to maintain power the Party must seem eternally right and strong.

Any of this sound familiar??

If not, you’re in the wrong blog…

President Obama on Thursday said he was “amused” by the tax day protests going on around the country to commemorate the IRS deadline for tax returns, and said the Tea Party movement’s protests of his policies were misguided.

“I have been amused a little over the past couple of days where people have been having these rallies about taxes,” Obama said.

I’m glad you find this funny, because we sincerely hope your still laughing when you’re planning your 50-foot monolith to yourself in Chicago in 2013 because you’re not the President anymore.

“We sort of have to assume we’re running into a headwind,” Kaine said.

The president’s remarks came at the second fundraiser of the night, at Miami’s Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, which about 1,000 people paid between $250 and $1,250 to attend.

The night’s first fundraiser was the more glitzy affair, held at the home of Gloria and Emelio Estefan, where a smaller group of donors paid $30,400 per couple to attend.

(gee, no “middle class” people there. Just evil rich people…) 🙂

The DNC expected to raise $2.5 million from the events, a DNC official told a reporter traveling with the president.

*The president’s quotes were originally provided to the entire White House press corps by a pool reporter traveling with the president in Miami and were updated when TV footage of his speech was aired. The quote originally read: “‘So I’ve been amused in recent days by these people having rallies,’ Obama said.”

November is Coming, Mr. President.

NOVEMBER IS COMING!

My Walk on the “Radical” Side

I hung up out yesterday with terrorists.

Racists.

Homophones.

Idiots. Morons. Mindless sheep.

Astroturf.

I had the good fortune to have yesterday off so I went to the Tea Party Rally at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

And according to our former Governor, now Homeland Security Chief, there were 7,500-8,000 “right wing extremists” there yesterday and we are all a danger to the US Government.

A Voting Danger Yes. Absolutely. 🙂

There were was even a Black Conservative from Liberal Wisconsin as the MC.

Imagine that, a Black person at a Tea Party rally!

According to the Ministry of Truth/Fifth Column/Mainstream Media, they don’t exist.

All “teabaggers” are angry white, rich people.

Well, I may be white but I’m light years from rich.

There was a quote from a famous Democrat that was floating around all day.

Imagine that, a Democrat, at a Tea Party!! 🙂

“ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” -John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

I reflected on it yesterday, my idol when I was a kid (because back then you didn’t spatter sex scandals all over the news 24/7) was probably why I was Democrat when I was old enough to vote.

But that didn’t last long in the harsh light of reality.

I became an Independent in 1988.

I am still a registered Independent, though no liberal will believe that because to them there are only Liberals and Republicans (independents just being indecisive Republicans) to them and that’s it.

Good Vs. Evil. And they think they are “good”.

So that’s why I hung out with “evil” last night.

The Old, the Young, every generation.

And we all had one common belief, The US CONSTIUTION.

The other being that we as Americans are exceptional. We are great.

It’s just that Liberals and our current President don’t believe that.

They believe no one is better than anyone (except them of course, they are way smarter, moral, and just plain better than evil right-wingers) at least no one who isn’t them.

That’s why many Liberals hate competition (except for political races). Kids self-esteem is hurt by losing. 😦

But when Liberals win in politics, they get even more condescending than they were beforehand.

“Shut up. We Won.” is often heard.

Well, we won’t shut up.

REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER

The sign that made me laugh yesterday, “Reduce your Government Footprint”

I love that one. 🙂

And the reaction from the Fifth Column (when they deemed it–The Volcano in Iceland was more interesting to them than angry American taxpayers and voters).

Many spent a lot of time on a CBS/NY Times Poll that proves to the left that the Tea Party is a fringe group of whackos to be ignored.

Like the Mainstream Media would do a poll that says anything else… 😦

Arianna Huffington (Huffingtonpost): With Tea Party backers protesting Tax Day across the country, we’re getting a fresh wave of the ongoing debate about whether these groups are fueled by rage, racism, or class divisions.

Sound more like the Democrats to me, especially the class divisions. That has been the Democrats stock in trade for generations.

NBC tried to be fair for at least 45 seconds, but then trotted out the poll saying that most tea partiers are rich white people and talked to 1 black guy and asked him “Do you feel uncomfortable around these people?”

Oh, I’m sorry, I left my HOOD at home! 😦

ABC News  ignored it as far I can see from their website, or it’s buried so deep it will take years for the light to reach it.

CBS online led there article predictably with their forgone conclusion poll, and the biased headline: Tea Partiers: We’re Not Racist or Against All Taxes. 😦

Then they talked to a Maryland couple who had a very young daughter with a sign,””I’m already $41,471 in debt, and I only own a dollhouse.”

They’re white. They’re older. And they’re angry.

That is the new mantra of the Left.

And then CBS went even further, they’re predominately from the South!

OH NO!!

I guess I better get my get back to my noose lessons and get me a gun rack…

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

Duck & Cover: The Next Generation

President Obama said in a speech before the 47-nation Nuclear Security Summit, which concluded Tuesday, that “the risk of a nuclear confrontation between nations has gone down, but the risk of nuclear attack has gone up.”

So that’s why I have pursued my 1960’s kumbuya approach to disarmament!!

If we just smile and show we aren’t a threat the big bad raptors of Islamic Terrorism & Iran won’t nuke us.

So let’s every just get rid of our nukes and everything will be peachy-keen.

Only it won’t.

And only we are supposed to disarm.

After all, American is the problem.

We are too big. Too Powerful. We are too cowboy.

We want to save everyone. At least we did until the Great Appeaser was elected and he bowed to every dictator out there and had the silly notion that he destroys our superpower status that radical Islamic Terrorists (2 of these words are not allowed anymore, can you guess which ones) will just go away.

I don’t think he’s naive.

I don’t think he’s stupid.

As I have said before, he has an ideology, and that’s it.

There is nothing else.

And that ideology will be followed regardless of how fanciful, idealist, or wrong-headed it is.

The Ideology uber alles!

And we can’t call them “Islamic Terrorists” even if they are Islamic and Terrorists.

President Barack Obama’s advisers plan to remove terms such as “Islamic radicalism” from a document outlining national security strategy and will use the new version to emphasize that the U.S. does not view Muslim nations through the lens of terrorism, counterterrorism officials say.

If we just use nice words, and we bow, and we bare a smile instead of our teeth, the big bad boogeyman radicals will not want to destroy us anymore….

Nice Raptor…

“Do you want to think about the U.S. as the nation that fights terrorism or the nation you want to do business with?” National Security Council staffer Pradeep Ramamurthy said.

But Fair Warning: If you get a Nuke in the face and manage to survive…

The White House has warned state and local governments not to expect a “significant federal response” at the scene of a terrorist nuclear attack for 24 to 72 hours after the blast, according to a planning guide.
The report has never been formally released to the public, White House spokesman Nick Shapiro says.

President Obama told delegates from 47 nations at the Nuclear Security Summit on Tuesday that it would be a “catastrophe for the world” if al-Qaeda or another terrorist group got a nuclear device, because so many lives would be lost and it would be so hard to mitigate damage from the blast.

Now imagine, Bush or  Republican had said that?

Talk about setting off a Nuke?

I bet the Ministry of Truth glosses it over so thick it will be nearly impenetrable. How about you?

And what if it’s another Katrina?

I’m sorry, the President is busy shining his Nobel Peace Prize, call back in 72 hours!!

Rick Nelson of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “Do I think in my lifetime I’ll see the detonation of a nuclear device? I do.”

I do to.

And if Phoenix were the target and I’m home or at work I’m pretty dead. I’m too close to downtown either way.

But I think New York or L.A. are much richer targets.

Now that’s “Hope and Change” for you. 😦

Hope you don’t get a Nuke in the Face that is.

Hope the government gives a crap afterwards in 3 days or so.

But he feels your future pain.

He’s not going to do anything to prevent it. But he does feel it.

Doesn’t that make you feel better!? 😦

I guess it’s time for that stockpile of duct tape! 🙂

Duct and Cover!! 🙂

The Law with Unintended Consequences

In a new report, the Congressional Research Service says the law may have significant unintended consequences for the “personal health insurance coverage” of senators, representatives and their staff members.

“It is unclear whether members of Congress and Congressional staff who are currently participating in F.E.H.B.P. may be able to retain this coverage,” the CRS wrote in a 8,100-word memorandum, the Times reports.

For example, it says, the law may “remove members of Congress and Congressional staff” from their current coverage, in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, before any alternatives are available. . . .

The law apparently bars members of Congress from the federal employees health program, on the assumption that lawmakers should join many of their constituents in getting coverage through new state-based markets known as insurance exchanges.

But the research service found that this provision was written in an imprecise, confusing way, so it is not clear when it takes effect.

The new exchanges do not have to be in operation until 2014. But because of a possible “drafting error,” the report says, Congress did not specify an effective date for the section excluding lawmakers from the existing program.

Under well-established canons of statutory interpretation, the report said, “a law takes effect on the date of its enactment” unless Congress clearly specifies otherwise. And Congress did not specify any other effective date for this part of the health care law. The law was enacted when President Obama signed it three weeks ago.

That means that congressmen and their staffers may be afoul of the law right now.

ObamaCare is proving to be even more of a shambles than critics had expected. Is this because the Democrats who currently run Congress are unusually incompetent? Tempting as it is to say yes, probably not. Put it down, instead, to hubris and haste. In their mad rush to outrun public opinion and impose “universal health care” on their unwilling constituents, Harry Pelosi, Nancy Reid & Co. simply didn’t bother paying attention to the details.

If CRS is right and congressmen and their staffers are now forbidden to be insured as federal employees, this may turn out to be ObamaCare’s fatal flaw. The Times observes that Congress “could try for a legislative fix,” and it quotes Sen. Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican, as urging just that: “After the committee completed its work, the coverage provision was redrafted by others, and that’s where mistakes were made. Congress can and should act to correct the mistakes.”

Good luck with that, guys. Are congressmen really going to pass legislation to rectify the harm ObamaCare did to them,Yuval Levin points out: “If you had your own research service to help you figure out what the law will do to your insurance, the answer would likely be just as confusing and discouraging.” The CRS’s findings are a powerful reminder that ObamaCare likely holds horrible surprises for everyone. while continuing to subject everyone else to this awful, hated law? Leaving the law in place isn’t a politically attractive option either, for the reason National Review’s Yuval Levin points out: “If you had your own research service to help you figure out what the law will do to your insurance, the answer would likely be just as confusing and discouraging.” The CRS’s findings are a powerful reminder that ObamaCare likely holds horrible surprises for everyone.

The logic of the situation inexorably points toward repeal–though we expect President Obama and this Congress will defy logic as firmly and for as long as they can. (WSJ)

While ObamaCare is an abomination that will hurt future generations it would be fitting if Congress was hoist on their own petard.

But I suspect that once they determine if they are screwed or not rather than revisit the bill in an overhaul and draw lots of unwanted attention they’ll just sneak it into a bill later on in the dead of night.

That would be the modis operandi of this Congress. Do it in secret, in a back room, without anyone knowing until it was too late to doanything about what you cooked up.

And if they do find out, Lie, Obfuscate, and attack.

I’m sure we have years and years of surprise and new horrors ahead of us.

This from the Toronto Star is just Curious:

Proof of medical coverage will become mandatory for all visitors to Cuba starting May 1.

The Cuba Tourist Bureau in Canada notified tour operators recently, and promises a general announcement with more details shortly.

So how long before ObamaCare follows suit, after all Cuba has a great medical system according to the Far Left who are in love with it. See “Sicko” by Michael “I by My own press” Moore.

At current exchange rates, Cubalinda will charge $2.70. a day for up to $7,558 of medical emergency insurance, plus assorted other types of coverage. It will charge about $3.24 a day for $27,000 of medical coverage and $7,558 for transportation of deceased, injured or sick persons.

That compares with as little as $1.81 a day or a minimum of $16 a week for a young Canadian to get $5 million of medical coverage from a Canadian insurer, says Aguirre. Meanwhile, a reasonably healthy senior, age 70 to 74, would pay $6.36 a day for a short trip to a non-U.S. destination, says Cappon.

Aguirre’s company’s president, Robin Ingle, concedes the skimpy Cuban policies would provide enough coverage for the vast majority of illnesses or injuries travelers might experience in Cuba.

“The Cubalinda.com website says ‘the insurer will not assume payment for treatment of pre-existing medical condition (sic), known or unknown to the insured person’.”

You could pay the modest premium and discover later you have no coverage when you need it.

So proceed with caution. Don’t leave home without adequate coverage.

Where’s Karl Malden when you need him??

And a Preview of Things to Come

A Massachusetts court Monday ruled against health insurance providers seeking to raise their premiums 8 to 32 percent in a closely watched case.

Massachusetts enacted a universal health care plan in 2006 that includes politically controversial measures such as the individual mandate requiring all adults to purchase insurance. With opponents of the national health care legislation passed weeks ago promising legal action, the Massachusetts case was seen a foretaste of what could lie ahead.

In this instance, the court affirmed that, for now at least, the state has the authority to oversee the industry.

The challenge arose from a bid by health insurance providers in Massachusetts several weeks ago to raise their premiums. Massachusetts Insurance commissioner Joseph Murphy called the increases “excessive,” noting that the medical consumer price index – an indicator of how much medical goods and services cost – projected a necessary increase of only 5 percent. Mr. Murphy rejected 235 of 274 proposed rate hikes.

Six insurance companies sued, arguing the state does not have the regulatory authority to cap premiums. They said they would lose $100 million without the premium increase, plus even more in the administrative costs of having to redesign their plans.

In addition to the suit, the insurance companies filed a preliminary injunction to prevent the state from regulating their premium increases until the case is decided. They also asked for an expedited trial.

Suffolk Superior Court Judge Stephen Neel denied the request to expedite the trial and the injunction. He said that until the health insurance companies exhausted all available administrative remedies within the state Department of Insurance, the court had no jurisdiction. Only then could the insurance companies move through the normal legal process, he said.

He added that he wanted to avoid “stepping in the [insurance] commissioner’s shoes” and revising the regulations temporarily until the later court date.

Furthermore, the regulations did not cause “irreparable harm” because lost profits could later be recouped, Judge Neel said.

Recouped how?

Don’t worry, the Government is here to save you from evil capitalists! 😦

Creating Unemployment

“The second way government assistance programs contribute to long-term unemployment is by providing an incentive, and the means, not to work. Each unemployed person has a ‘reservation wage’—the minimum wage he or she insists on getting before accepting a job. Unemployment insurance and other social assistance programs increase [the] reservation wage, causing an unemployed person to remain unemployed longer.”

Any guess who wrote that? Milton Friedman, perhaps. Simon Legree? Sorry.

Full credit goes to Lawrence H. Summers, the current White House economic adviser, who wrote those sensible words in his chapter on “Unemployment” in the Concise Encyclopedia of Economics, first published in 1999.

“The several extensions of emergency unemployment insurance benefits appeared to have raised the measured unemployment rate, relative to levels recorded in past downturns.” It continued: “Some estimates suggested it could account for 1 percentage point or more of the increase in the unemployment rate during the recession.” That’s more than one million jobless workers Alan Reynolds of the Cato Institute has found that the average unemployment episode rose from 10 weeks before the recession to 19 weeks after Congress twice previously extended jobless benefits—to 79 from 26 weeks. Even as initial unemployment claims have fallen in recent months, the length of unemployment has risen. Mr. Reynolds estimates that the extensions of unemployment insurance and other federal policies have raised the official jobless rate by nearly two percentage points.

Or consider the Brookings Institution, whose panel on economic activity reported this March that jobless insurance extensions “correspond to between 0.7 and 1.8 percentage points of the 5.5 percentage point increase in the unemployment rate witnessed in the current recession.”

Or perhaps the Senate should listen to another Obama Administration economist, Alan Krueger of the Treasury Department, who concluded in a 2008 study that “job search increases sharply in the weeks prior to benefit exhaustion.” In other words, many unemployed workers don’t start seriously looking for a job until they are about to lose their benefits.

And, sure enough, the share of unemployed workers who don’t have a job for more than 26 weeks has steadily increased, reaching a record 44.1% in March. The average spell of unemployment is now 31 weeks, even though the economy is once again creating more new jobs than it is losing. Democrats are slowly converting unemployment insurance into a welfare program. (WSJ)

Dependency. That’s all the Democrats really, really want.

If you’re dependent on them, if you think you’re entitled, you’ll vote for them.

That’s all that matters in the end, isn’t it?

Then there’s the VAT, to destroy any recovery that might peek it’s head up like the Whack-A-Mole’s at a carnival.

Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich is about as liberal as they come. Yet even he gets the obvious truth of a VAT: When added to other taxes, it would fall hardest on the poor.

Clinton’s labor guy is now comfortably ensconced as a professor at Berkeley. The nine books he has written have basically helped delineate liberal thinking since the late 1970s.

Yet while many in his party, the Democrats, now yearn for a value-added tax (in addition to our current income tax) as a way to raise money to pay down the estimated $12 trillion in deficits over the next decade, Reich is having none of it.

Appearing on CNBC, Reich laid out the goods: “I worry that because it is a kind of super sales tax, it’s regressive,” he said. “It does not take a bigger bite out of the incomes of the wealthy than it does out of the incomes of the poor, and therefore it is a step backwards toward greater tax regressivity, as is every sales tax.”

We don’t agree much with Reich on anything, but on this he’s right. The VAT, so beloved by Democrats, would sock the poor and the middle class — 47 million of whom today pay no taxes at all on their incomes — with higher taxes.

Whether that’s fair or not is a different question. But Reich is undoubtedly correct when he assails the VAT as a “hidden” tax. Since it’s levied at each level of production, and not just on the final sale, the consumer doesn’t realize how much he or she has paid in taxes.

Even so, President Obama’s deficit-reduction commission, a bipartisan panel created to reduce our soaring deficits, is thought by many to be leaning in favor of a VAT. But once a VAT is imposed, even at a minuscule rate of say, 2%, it will inevitably grow bigger.

Witness the experience of the European Union. When the 12 largest nations of Europe first began using the VAT in the late 1960s, it averaged a bit over 13%. Today, it averages 20.5% across those same European Union nations — a 54% increase.

Once the camel’s nose gets under the tent, it’s tough to keep out the rest of the hairy beast.

President Obama, on the stump in 2008 and after entering office in 2009, promised that those earning less than $200,000 wouldn’t see their taxes hiked. A VAT would represent the largest tax hike on the working poor since Social Security.

The president would be wise to heed Reich’s advice and avoid it like the plague — or he’ll give Democratic base voters one more reason to look for change in 2012.

But he won’t.

You know he won’t.

And when they do it and it sinks the economy it surely won’t be there fault.

And when you raise taxes, and you continue to spending like a drug addict who needs his fix, the problem will only get worse.

So, it’s imperative that we stop the drug addicts in November.

And do our best to stop them now.

An Intervention is definitely overdue.

Then we have to hold the hand of the next Congress to make sure they stay clean.

Yes, Virginia, we are going to have to be the Mommy.

Damned Since they Did, Damned Since They Won’t

The strategic cowardice of the Democrats is showing again because there is talk that they won’t pass a budget this year that way they don’t have to defend the massive spending in it because it’s ‘not official’.

This is the same argument I heard from devout Liberals online during the Health Care debate.

Every time a new outrage came out they’d just proclaim, “but it hasn’t finished yet. Why not wait until it’s finished and up for a vote before you get all bend out of shape”.

This is the tactic to get away with it.

By the time it’s up for a vote it’s too late to protest.

The Health Care bill passed in like 36 hours after the official vote was announced and the “final” bill created.

And so we have the budget.

Congress is poised to miss its April 15 deadline for finishing next year’s budget without even considering a draft in either chamber.

Unlike citizens’ tax-filing deadline, Congress’s mid-April benchmark is nonbinding. And members seem to be in no rush to get the process going.

Indeed, some Democratic insiders suspect that leaders will skip the budget process altogether this year — a way to avoid the political unpleasantness of voting on spending, deficits and taxes in an election year — or simply go through a few of the motions, without any real effort to complete the work.

Regan LaChapelle, a spokeswoman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), would go only so far as saying that the budget “is on a list of things that are possible for this work period” — a reference to the window that opens when members roll back into town Monday and closes when they leave around Memorial Day.

Congress has failed to adopt a final budget four times in the past 35 years — for fiscal years 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2007 — according to a recent Congressional Research Service report. If the House does not pass a first version of the budget resolution, it will be the first time since the implementation of the 1974 Budget Act, which governs the modern congressional budgeting process.

The practical consequences of failing to produce a federal budget for next year are about the same as they are for a family that doesn’t set a plan for income and spending: Congress doesn’t need a budget to tax or spend, but enforcing discipline is harder without one. And, like a family that misses out on efficiencies because it hasn’t taken a hard look at its finances, Congress can’t use reconciliation rules to cut the deficit if the House and the Senate don’t adopt the same budget.

But there are political consequences to the budget conundrum, too — and for Democrats, they’re of the “damned if you, damned if you don’t” variety.

Republicans are certain to castigate the majority Democrats if they fail to put a fiscal blueprint in place amid a public backlash against spending and a torrent of dire warnings from economic experts about the consequences of imbalanced federal books.

But they’ll also call Democrats on the carpet if they approve a new budget that includes more spending, higher deficits or increased taxes.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said last week that the government’s books must be put in order through tax increases or slashing spending for entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

“These choices are difficult, and it always seems easier to put them off — until the day they cannot be put off anymore,” Bernanke said. (Politico)

And putting it off so they don’t have to talk about it, and they and Ministry of Truth/Fifth Column Mainstream Media can ignore it as much as possible and denigrate “right wingers” for even bringing it up just to be “divisive” works better for them.

This is how Washington is NOT working to solve the problems. Just avoid stirring up the masses anymore than they have to, and to placate and lull them back to sleep so they can get passed them before they realize they’ve been had AGAIN.

Rock-a-bye baby, on the treetop,
When the right wing wind blows, the cradle will rock,
When the news breaks, the cradle will  not fall,
And down will come America, cradle and all.

The Democrats want you to set your alarm clock for Nov 5th.

Nothing to see here, don’t need to bother….

Poisoning The Well

This was taken from the antiquities of the Roman times where you had an invading army. The origin of the term lies in the ancient practice of pouring poison into sources of fresh water before an invading army in order to diminish the invading army’s strength. In general usage, poisoning the well is the provision of any information that may produce a biased result.

That about sums up the Democrats and it propaganda machine, The Ministry of Truth/”Mainstream” media.

Especially, when it comes to opposition to them.

You must really be nuts to oppose them.

After years of hurling the most vile and disgusting things at anyone they disagreed with, they succeed in winning. Now, they are sacrosanct and they are not to be questioned and anyone who does is a “Terrorist”, a “racist”, a “radical”, and the newest one, on par with the KKK.

So the well has truly been poisoned.

The Democrats feel the invading army, The American People.

Many are retiring (deserting their posts) rather than face the wrath.

But many are still obvious and still spit poison like a cobra with never ending supply of venom.

Then they use Alinsky tactics to denigrate their opposition.

They provoke them.

Then they scold them.

Then they puff up their chest and weep crocodile tears for their victimization.

The Eagle-Tribune (New Hampshire):

Let us say at the outset that violence has no place in the American political process.

But as Democrats collapse to the floor with the vapors over “threats” from those whose anger over the methods used to pass health care reform boiled over into inappropriate behavior, they ought to consider the extent to which they are reaping the whirlwind.

There is no question that the Democrats have helped drive political discourse in this country into the fever swamps.

Democrats spent eight years glorifying the fringe elements of the Left who heaped all sorts of invective on President Bush, even to the point of burning him in effigy and calling for his execution as a war criminal. This they called “dissent, the highest form of patriotism.”

As these “patriots” marched through our streets with their papier-mache puppets and 1960s-revival chants, there was not a peep from the Democrats about the inappropriateness of it all or the need to convey a measure of respect toward the presidency, regardless of the occupant of that office.

Nor has there been any outcry at the derision heaped for the past several months on ordinary Americans who have rallied against unchecked government spending and the underhanded deals made to advance health care reform against the wishes of the public, as measured by the polls.

Indeed Democratic members of Congress themselves — including our own paragon of polite political discourse, Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire — have led the cry against these decent Americans, tarring them with the sexual slur “teabaggers.” If you are unaware just how vile a slur this is, look it up on the Internet — but not in front of children.

The “teabagger” epithet has been a prominent feature of news and commentary on the national television networks CNN and MSNBC, which rather than unbiased news outlets have been nothing short of cheerleaders for the Democrats’ health care reform effort.

When it looked like the election of Republican Scott Brown in Massachusetts might slow the health reform advance, MSNBC’s reprehensible Keith Olbermann referred to him as “an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, teabagging supporter of violence against women and against politicians with whom he disagrees.” A few nights after this deranged outburst, he “apologized” by saying he had forgotten to include “sexist.”

That sums up the level of political discourse advanced by the Democrats quite well. So while it is not defensible, it is at least understandable that as Democrats were doing their victory dance on health care reform, some on the fringe of the opposition acted inappropriately.

But rather than respond to this poor behavior with the dignity expected of mature adults, some prominent Democrats have been eager to adopt the martyr’s cloak. It only takes a few isolated nuts to confirm for them that they are in the vanguard against dark forces that exist largely in their own vivid imaginations.

It is particularly objectionable that Democrats and their allies are using these isolated offenses to tar all opposition to their policies. Ordinary Americans who object to trillion-dollar deficits and the beginnings of a government takeover of health care are portrayed as domestic terrorists in the mold of Timothy McVeigh or the new night riders of the Ku Klux Klan.

Democratic leaders in Washington ought to come out and describe these threats for what they are: the isolated misbehavior of a few individuals and not characteristic of Republicans and conservatives in general.

And they ought to have enough humility to acknowledge their own role in dragging American political discourse down to such a low level.

So we not only have to rebuild the town, but we have work around the copious number of sources for an armada of poisonous vipers.

And this nest of  Vipers are dragons who will now hoard their treasure and defend it to the last man. And woe be the “racist” “ignorant” “terrorist” who tries to take their treasure away.

The fire their Gods will reign death and destruction upon you if you try!

Mind you, it will happen because of them, but they don’t really care about that.
