Obama Air

You knew there’d be cronyism.

A senior Democrat is lashing out at a provision of the nuclear deal with Iran that could make it easier for the country to repair its aging fleet of civilian aircraft.

A little-noticed provision of the deal paves the way for U.S. companies such as Boeing and General Electric (Major Obama Donors, remember Jeffrey Imhelt of GE :)) to inspect and repair Iran’s American-made planes inside Iran. But Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs panel and a hawk on Iran, says the planes could be used to promote terrorism and support Syria’s Bashar Assad.

“America should exploit some of the vagaries in the agreement’s language and prevent Boeing from repairing Iranian aircraft until we have a final deal,” Sherman said in a statement Tuesday. “Otherwise we will have made a permanent irreversible concession in a ‘temporary’ agreement.”

He said he opposes “licensing parts and services needed to repair Iran’s American-made planes because they have been used to support some of Iran’s worst activities.”

The deal reached over the weekend in Geneva calls on the United States and its negotiating partners to “license safety related inspections and repairs” as well as the “supply and installation … of spare parts for safety of flight for Iranian civil aviation and associated services” inside Iran. The deal stipulates that sanctions relief “could” apply to the national carrier, Iran Air, which has been singled out for carrying military equipment, and to other airlines that haven’t been designated.

The Treasury Department says the details of the aircraft provision need to be finalized by the negotiators – the U.S., China, Russia, France, Great Britain and Germany – and possibly by federal regulators. Current U.S. sanctions allow Iran to apply for special licenses to fix failing aircraft but this would be the first time the repairs could take place inside Iran.

Iran blames the sanctions for a surge in crashes that have killed many passengers and aircrew in recent years. Sherman however is worried that the deal will allow Iran to try to refurbish its entire fleet – it can’t afford to buy a new one – instead of seeking piecemeal repairs, as it has in the past.

He pointed out that the Obama administration itself has singled out Iran Air for providing support to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and identified it as a key part of the military procurement network for Assad’s forces in Syria, as well as a conduit of aid to Hezbollah, Iran’s Lebanese terrorist ally. A 2011 UN report has also accused Iran of using the airline to transport missile parts and other illegal trade between Iran and North Korea, and Iranian agents allegedly used an Iran Air flight to escape Geneva after murdering a dissident there in the early 1990s.

“Iran should ground its unsafe planes until they are properly repaired, which requires American parts and service,” Sherman said. “American corporations should not repair these until a final deal is reached.” (Julian Pacquet)

Hotair: When you dig into the details of this arrangement, there’s a lot of frosting and not much cake. First of all, this is not a permanent agreement in any way shape or form. It’s a six month “arrangement” which Iran could simply walk away from at the end (or at any point, really) after receiving a massive fiscal injection in the form of sanction relief. It is also simply a “suspension” of certain enrichment activities, with no dismantling of any of Iran’s facilities. The entire show can be started back up at any time. There’s additional transparency, with more inspectors allowed into additional facilities, which is good, but much like the suspension of enrichment this can be terminated any moment Iran decides not to honor the deal. (As they have done numerous times in the past.) The deal also allegedly limits the level of uranium enrichment the Iranians can reach, but that’s the same bone we’ve been chewing on for years. And finally, we have the Iranians on every cable channel doing an end zone dance saying this is “formal recognition” of their right to enrich uranium, while Kerry and his team are saying the opposite. It’s hard to imagine how solid any “deal” can be when the two sides are announcing essentially 180 degree opposite conclusions on basic terminology.

So it’s like Iran Air, a flying disaster waiting to happen.

Sounds like an Obama foreign policy decision…

Bless The Reigns Down In Africa

President Obama had some unsolicited advice for Africans on Sunday: Be wary of foreign powers — including the United States. So this is what our $100 million presidential junket is buying us?

In the most mind-boggling statement yet on his latest trip abroad, America’s chief spokesman and the leader of the free world warned the African continent against assuming “folks come here and they’re automatically benefiting Africans. And that includes the United States. Ask questions in terms of what we do.”

It was as patronizing to Africans, who know all about Western aid rackets and do-gooder carpetbaggers, as it was insulting to Americans.

What kind of president goes overseas to warn the locals about the people who elected him? Yet, that was pretty much the message he delivered in Capetown, South Africa, in the same week the nation that has done more to help more people in more countries all over the world celebrates its 237th birthday.

Somehow, in the president’s thinking, Americans are prone to dishonesty and out to cheat Africans even as global rankings show the U.S. is held in the highest regard for honesty and transparency.

Only a leader with deep misgivings about America’s role in the world — evidenced in everything from his own apology tours to the first lady’s admission that she wasn’t proud of America until her husband won the presidential nomination — would say such a thing , anywhere.

Ironically, Obama’s “don’t trust, verify” advice also undercut the big initiative he hopes will leave a lasting legacy on the continent — a $7 billion Power Africa project.

“If somebody says they want to come build something here, are they hiring African workers? If somebody says that they want to help you develop your natural resources, how much of the money is staying in Africa?” the president asked circumspectly.

These are odd questions, because Power Africa is a consortium whose biggest donor is the U.S. Export-Import Bank, which is contributing $5 billion. Ex-Im Bank, in response to criticism of its financing oil development in Brazil, has pointedly defended itself by stating its cash goes to U.S. workers and U.S. exports. (IBD)

Forbes:The president implied that the U.S. government will invest $7 billion in taxpayer money to help bring 10,000 mw of electricity to sub-Saharan Africa. Electricity, he said, is “the lifeline for families to meet their most basic needs and it’s the connection needed to plug Africa into the grid of the global economy. You’ve got to have power.”

Providing that power could be a real boon to American (and global) companies focused on power generation and energy management. Indeed, as the president said, “my own nation will benefit enormously if you reach full potential.”

One of the big partners for the president’s plan is General Electric  Among the private companies that the president said have “committed more than $9 billion in investment” to the Power Africa project, G.E. appears to be front and center. According to the White House statement on Power Africa, “General Electric commits to help bring online 5,000 megawatts of new, affordable energy through provision of its technologies, expertise and capital in Tanzania and Ghana.”

GE, heard that somewhere else with Obama, Oh! right..The Chevy Volt! And GE CEO Jeffrey Imhelt, the former “Job Creation” Czar and big time Obama $$$ buddy.

Federal guarantees will reduce G.E. financial risks in Africa and will help it compete better against Chinese companies, which have been falling over themselves to invest in Africa.

Nope, no crony capitalism here… 🙂

And then there’s Symbion Power, which is run by Lord Richard Westbury, a former officer with the British special forces, and which counts former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson (husband of outed CIA agent Valerie Plame) as a director. Symbion has done a handful of power projects in Iraq, and recently completed a 55 mw diesel-powered electricity project in Tanzania.

Some of this investment is already in the works. In late June G.E. signed a tentative deal with the government of Ghana to build a 1,000 mw power plant. This plant would likely be fueled with natural gas sourced from the Jubilee offshore field, a multi-billion-dollar project, in which Texas-based Anadarko Petroleum  has a large stake.

An evil Oil Company, say it ain’t so O! There evil and all must be destroyed! 🙂

IBD:“The mandate of the Export-Import Bank of the U.S. is to help create and sustain U.S. jobs by financing U.S. exports,” Ex-Im Bank stressed in a press release during its controversial funding of Brazilian energy in 2009. “This increases the likelihood that American — not foreign — workers will be employed.”

So if African states are to accept Obama’s Power Africa initiative, they’ll have to say ‘no’ to Ex-Im Bank financing if they were to take Obama’s advice, and simply go without electricity.

The propensity of this president to undercut American presence abroad — not just of the private sector, but even his own initiatives — is disturbing. But not nearly as disturbing as his tendency to bad-mouth America every chance he gets.

I guess they will have to build it to find out what’s in it for them? if anything… 🙂

Is it Fair?

Stephen Moore: President Obama has frequently justified his policies—and judged their outcomes—in terms of equity, justice and fairness. That raises an obvious question: How does our existing system—and his own policy record—stack up according to those criteria?

Is it fair that the richest 1% of Americans pay nearly 40% of all federal income taxes, and the richest 10% pay two-thirds of the tax?

Is it fair that the richest 10% of Americans shoulder a higher share of their country’s income-tax burden than do the richest 10% in every other industrialized nation, including socialist Sweden?

Is it fair that American corporations pay the highest statutory corporate tax rate of all other industrialized nations but Japan, which cuts its rate on April 1?

Is it fair that President Obama sends his two daughters to elite private schools that are safer, better-run, and produce higher test scores than public schools in Washington, D.C.—but millions of other families across America are denied that free choice and forced to send their kids to rotten schools?

Remember Liberals are “Pro-Choice”. Just not about anything other than abortion, especially not Education,Unions, or Health Care.

Is it fair that Americans who build a family business, hire workers, reinvest and save their money—paying a lifetime of federal, state and local taxes often climbing into the millions of dollars—must then pay an additional estate tax of 35% (and as much as 55% when the law changes next year) when they die, rather than passing that money onto their loved ones?

Damn those evil rich people! The only thing you should pay along to your kids is fealty to the government and DEBT.

Is it fair that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, former Democratic Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, former Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel and other leading Democrats who preach tax fairness underpaid their own taxes?

Or “Job Creation Czar”‘s GE who paid no corporate taxes at all. And speaking of “rich” people who’s giving Obama $38,500 a pop at his copious fundraisers, the guy who says “Do you want Fries with that?”.

Oh, right, as I said yesterday, when you have no standards you can be a doubletalking, double-dealing, hypocrite in your mind and no one on ‘your side’ will care and the people who do care should just shut up.

Is it fair that after the first three years of Obamanomics, the poor are poorer, the poverty rate is rising, the middle class is losing income, and some 5.5 million fewer Americans have jobs today than in 2007?

8%+ unemployment for more than 3 years. Oh, and the CBO just projected what everyone with a brain cell and some integrity said was going to happen, The Price of ObamaCare doubled BEFORE 2014 already!

Is it fair that roughly 88% of political contributions from supposedly impartial network television reporters, producers and other employees in 2008 went to Democrats?

But they are FAIR and Unbiased. 🙂

And that Public Sector Unions (government employees) are one of the biggest contributors. And in most of them, you have mandatory due that are collected and given to the Democrats. Now that’s “pro-choice”.

Is it fair that the three counties with America’s highest median family income just happen to be located in the Washington, D.C., metro area?

A coincidence. Nothing more, move along…nothing to see here…:)

Is it fair that wind, solar and ethanol producers get billions of dollars of subsidies each year and pay virtually no taxes, while the oil and gas industry—which provides at least 10 times as much energy—pays tens of billions of dollars of taxes while the president complains that it is “subsidized”?

Big Bad Oil is so Evil! 🙂

Solyndra, Beyond Solar, and all the others that have gotten fat checks from the government and then given fat bonus to their execs just before they went bankrupt (usually with an year or so of getting the money) is the fault of the Chinese after all, so nothing to see here…more along… 🙂

Is it fair that those who work full-time jobs (and sometimes more) to make ends meet have to pay taxes to support up to 99 weeks of unemployment benefits for those who don’t work?

You don’t want to be “mean” and “heartless” now do you? 🙂

Is it fair that those who took out responsible mortgages and pay them each month have to see their tax dollars used to subsidize those who acted recklessly, greedily and sometimes deceitfully in taking out mortgages they now can’t afford to repay?

Well, that was the “predatory” banks and mortgage companies fault. The fact that they were pushed by the Democrats in that direction forcefully and then the SEC was too busy watching Porn at work to notice is not relevant. 🙂

Is it fair that thousands of workers won’t have jobs because the president sided with environmentalists and blocked the shovel-ready Keystone XL oil pipeline?

Oil is evil. We only want Politically correct jobs.

Is it fair that some of Mr. Obama’s largest campaign contributors received federal loan guarantees on their investments in renewable energy projects that went bust?

Crony Capitalism is so Washington.

Is it fair that federal employees receive benefits that are nearly 50% higher than those of private-sector workers whose taxes pay their salaries, according to the Congressional Budget Office?

They think so. And no, they aren’t “greedy”. 🙂

Is it fair that soon almost half the federal budget will take income from young working people and redistribute it to old non-working people, even though those over age 65 are already among the wealthiest Americans?

Yeah, but the old people vote! 🙂

Is it fair that in 27 states workers can be compelled to join a union in order to keep their jobs?

The Unions and The Democrats certainly think so. That’s their #1 $$$ gravy train.

Is it fair that nearly four out of 10 (47%) American households now pay no federal income tax at all—a number that has risen every year under Mr. Obama?

Yes, because the more dependent on the government you are the more you’ll vote to continue porking yourself with other people’s money. Hey, it’s free! 🙂

And you don’t want to be “mean”,”Heartless”, or “racist” now do you? 🙂

Is it fair that Boeing, a private company, was threatened by a federal agency when it sought to add jobs in a right-to-work state rather than in a forced-union state?

Yeah, the Liberals have to stick up for their cronies in the Unions. 🙂

Is it fair that if you want to enforce Federal Laws about immigration you get sued by that same Federal government and are branded as racists?

Is it fair that our kids and grandkids and great-grandkids—who never voted for Mr. Obama—will have to pay off the $5 trillion of debt accumulated over the past four years, without any benefits to them?

Better than the people who spent it paying for it! 🙂

Is it fair The Congressional Budget Office said Friday that President Barack Obama’s tax and spending policies will yield $6.4 trillion in deficits over the next decade, more than double the shortfall in CBO’s own fiscal baseline — even after taking credit for reduced war costs. (Politico)

Is it fair: While HHS under the Obama administration does everything in its power to force religions employers to pick up the cost of providing birth control against their religious conscience, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is allowing an Indian tribe an exemption to kill two bald eagles a year … for religious purposes:

The AP reports: “A federal government decision to allow a Wyoming tribe to kill two bald eagles for a religious ceremony is a victory for American Indian sovereignty as well as for long-suppressed religious freedoms, the tribe says.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service granted a permit March 9 to the Northern Arapaho Tribe allowing it either to kill or capture and release two bald eagles this year.” (Townhall.com)

‘African Americans for Obama’

The program urges black Americans to volunteer their time by making calls, organizing events and going door to door in their neighborhoods encouraging other African Americans to vote for Obama.

Again, imagine what the reaction would be any of the Republican candidates launched a ‘Whites for Romney’, ‘Whites for Santorum’ (Christian Conservatives for Santorum) or ‘Whites for Gingrich’ campaign. There would be non-stop uproar. But Obama does the equivalent and gets a free pass.

Now that’s fair, isn’t it? 🙂

Well, when Liberals have no standards…is it fair to judge them then? 🙂

Now doesn’t that just make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside as to how “fair” everything thing is…

The Virtues of Mindlessness

Occupy Socialism Update:

Occupy L.A. Speaker: “One of the speakers said the solution is nonviolent movement. No, my friend. I’ll give you two examples: French Revolution, and Indian so-called Revolution.

Gandhi, Gandhi today is, with respect to all of you, Gandhi today is a tumor that the ruling class is using constantly to mislead us. French Revolution made fundamental transformation. But it was bloody.

India, the result of Gandhi, is 600 million people living in maximum poverty.

So, ultimately, the bourgeoisie won’t go without violent means. Revolution! Yes, revolution that is led by the working class.

Long live revolution! Long live socialism!”

Crowd: [Cheers.]

Incredibly, he praises the massacres of the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror rather than Gandhi’s nonviolent philosophy.

And the crowd laps it up.

Every single day, more videos emerge from the Occupy movement showing people saying things that, if they had been said by a Tea Partier, would have been front-page news for weeks and discredited the movement forever. But since it’s the Occupy Wall Street movement, darlings of the media and Democratic politicians, they get a pass. (PJM)

Gandi is tool of the elites to keep the masses from revolution (the non-violence is mollifying the masses). Think about that one for a moment. Then, be afraid. Be Very Afraid.

Now imagine someone from the Tea Party even hinting at this and what the “outraged” liberal media would do. After all, we are called “racists” for daring to even disagree with the Spend Even More Crowd so you can imagine this can’t you? 🙂

David Brooks, New York Times: If there is a core theme to the Occupy Wall Street movement, it is that the virtuous 99 percent of society is being cheated by the richest and greediest 1 percent.

This is a theme that allows the people in the 99 percent to think very highly of themselves. All their problems are caused by the nefarious elite.

Unfortunately, almost no problem can be productively conceived in this way. A group that divides the world between the pure 99 percent and the evil 1 percent will have nothing to say about education reform, Medicare reform, tax reform, wage stagnation or polarization. They will have nothing to say about the way Americans have overconsumed and overborrowed. These are problems that implicate a much broader swath of society than the top 1 percent.

They will have no realistic proposal to reduce the debt or sustain the welfare state. Even if you tax away 50 percent of the income of those making between $1 million and $10 million, you only reduce the national debt by 1 percent, according to the Tax Foundation. If you confiscate all the income of those making more than $10 million, you reduce the debt by 2 percent. You would still be nibbling only meekly around the edges.

The 99-versus-1 frame is also extremely self-limiting. If you think all problems flow from a small sliver of American society, then all your solutions are going to be small, too. The policy proposals that have been floating around the Occupy Wall Street movement — a financial transfer tax, forgiveness for student loans — are marginal.

The Occupy Wall Street movement may look radical, but its members’ ideas are less radical than those you might hear at your average Rotary Club. Its members may hate capitalism. A third believe the U.S. is no better than Al Qaeda, according to a New York magazine survey, but since the left no longer believes in the nationalization of industry, these “radicals” really have no systemic reforms to fall back on.

They are not the only small thinkers. President Obama promises not to raise taxes on the bottom 98 percent. The Occupy-types celebrate the bottom 99 percent. Republicans promise not to raise taxes on the bottom 100 percent. Through these and other pledges, leaders of all three movements are hedging themselves in. They are severely limiting the scope of their proposed solutions.

They have no sense of the economic reality in which the world lives; hence their magic solution to everything is “tax the rich.”

The perfect illustration was a sign in the background from a protester that I saw yesterday on TV, “TAX THE RICH UNTIL THEY ARE POOR”.

Doesn’t that sum it up in one sentence. The naivete, the self-limiting,loathing greed for other people’s money. The complete lack of reality. The desire to have everyone else kiss THEIR butts and do everything for them. They deserve it.

You race a generation believing they are entitled and full of narcissism and “fairness”, this is what you get.

“Tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are no rich no more… I’d love to change the world, but I don’t know what to do, so I’ll leave it up to you.”–Apparently from a song-Ten Years After’s I’d Love To Change the World. I’ve never heard of it myself. But then again, I am older and not a leftist zombie either.

Mindless Entitlement. Mindless Narcissism. Mindless Sloth.

This “movement” has no real solutions. Just more mindless Progressive Liberal socialism as pablum for the mindless. It sounds good. It sounds “fair”. The generation raised to be politically correct mindless zombies who found out that the world doesn’t work the way they want it to so they are going to pout and whine until they get their way. After all, you don’t want to be “unfair” now do you!? 🙂

Liberals have gotten it into their heads that the government should be some kind of cosmic Robin Hood that takes money from the rich and distributes it to the poor.

After all, Just this week Obama said you can’t possibly succeed in life without Mama Government. And Elizabeth Warren running for Scott Brown’s seat in Massachusetts said Business can’t possibly succeed without the government.

And Mama is always “fair”. 🙂

What such an idea does is it takes the incentive to make money away from the rich (because they don’t get to keep their money) and it takes the incentive to make money away from the poor (because they can just sit on their couches and collect government checks every month).

The old parable about “Give a man a Fish you fee him for a day. Teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” is true. And the Occupiers and the Liberals want all the Fisherman to give them their fish because they are entitled to them. Period. End of story.

photo

This Week, you ask? Try, February 2011.

Oh, and the left’s latest childish reference to those who disagree with their Socialism, they call them the “Reich Wing”. Godwin’s Law strikes again.

But don’t worry, the Liberal Media is all gaga for these people. And you’re just a heartless, mean, cruel, racist, Reich Winger if you don’t feel the same way as they do.

The fact that they have no actual solutions that in anyway even remotely realistic doesn’t matter. You must be of “The Body” as an old Star Trek episode once said. And if you aren’t of “the body” you must be a foreign parasite that must be crushed. After all, the 99% are the purist of driven snow and above you grubby little greedy elite-loving people. 🙂

You want to tax the rich?

How about General Electric?

They are rich, right?

They are also very, very tight with the Obama administration. Jeffrey Imhelt is the “Job Creation Czar” and his company made $14 Billion Dollars and paid no taxes whatsoever. But you want to see a Liberal stammer, bring this up.

But when you organize a society in such a way that a majority can vote for the wealth of the minority to be transferred into their pockets you are asking for trouble.

If you raise taxes on the rich and give more handouts to the poor is that going to provide them with jobs?

No.

If you raise taxes on the rich and give more handouts to the poor is that going to give them dignity?

No.

If you raise taxes on the rich and give more handouts to the poor is that going to create more businesses and spur more economic activity?

No.

Yes, we always need to help the poor and those that cannot help themselves.

However, what we have created is an “entitlement society” where the majority of Americans now receive direct payments of money from the government.

As millions more Americans climb aboard the “safety net” each year, it is eventually going to get to the point where all of this government welfare is going to destroy this nation financially.

But our politicians love the current tax system.

Why?

For one thing, it gives them the ability to exert tremendous social control over the rest of us.

And since most of our politicians are control freaks, they absolutely love to engage in social engineering.

Is there a behavior that they don’t like?

They just tax it.

Is there a behavior that they want to promote?

They just give us a tax break for it.

The rest of us end up running around like chickens with our heads cut off as we attempt to play the little social control games that they have constructed for us. (endofamericandream.com)

Face it, the liberals want your money so they can control you. They want your health care so they can control you. They want your food because they want to control you. They want your car because they want to control you.

Rather than loving each other and working together to rebuild America, the people of this nation are being taught to hate one another and attack one another.

It’s that simple. That Mindless. Like a Zombie coming for you.

“There’s a word for that kind of lie. Hope.”

The Secret Pork

Then Speaker of The House Pelosi: “[W]e have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”

Now that someone is opening this can of compressed worms, the stink bugs are escaping too.

Investigators for the House Energy and Commerce Committee have discovered that a little-known provision in the national health care law has allowed the federal government to pay nearly $2 billion to unions, state public employee systems, and big corporations to subsidize health coverage costs for early retirees.  At the current rate of payment, the $5 billion appropriated for the program could be exhausted well before it is set to expire.

It’s a waiver slush fund BUILT INTO the Law. Gee, now that’s confidence in your legislation.

Unless, of course, the ultimate goal was not “to insure everyone”. 🙂

The discovery came on the eve of an oversight hearing focused on the workings of an obscure agency known as CCIO — the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight.  CCIO, which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services, oversees the implementation of Section 1102 of the Affordable Care Act, which created something called the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program.  The legislation called for the program to spend a total of $5 billion, beginning in June 2010 — shortly after Obamacare was passed — and ending on January 1, 2014, as the system of national health care exchanges was scheduled to go into effect.

The idea was to subsidize unions, states, and companies that had made commitments to provide health insurance for workers who retired early —  between the ages of 55 and 64, before they were eligible for Medicare. According to a new report prepared by the Department of Health and Human Services, “People in the early retiree age group…often face difficulties obtaining insurance in the individual market because of age or chronic conditions that make coverage unaffordable or inaccessible.”  As a result, fewer and fewer organizations have been offering coverage to early retirees; the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program was designed to subsidize such coverage until the creation of Obamacare’s health-care exchanges.

The program began making payouts on June 1, 2010.  Between that date and the end of 2010, it paid out about $535 million dollars.  But according to the new report, the rate of spending has since increased dramatically, to about $1.3 billion just for the first two and a half months of this year. At that rate, it could burn through the entire $5 billion appropriation as early as 2012.

Where is the money going?  According to the new report, the biggest single recipient of an early-retiree bailout is the United Auto Workers, which has so far received $206,798,086.  Other big recipients include AT&T, which received $140,022,949, and Verizon, which received $91,702,538.  General Electric, in the news recently for not paying any U.S. taxes last year, received $36,607,818.  General Motors, recipient of a massive government bailout, received $19,002,669.

The program also paid large sums of money to state governments.  The Public Employees Retirement System of Ohio received $70,557,764; the Teacher Retirement System of Texas received $68,074,118; the California Public Employees Retirement System, or CalPERS, received $57,834,267; the Georgia Department of Community Health received $57,936,127; and the state of New York received $47,869,044.  Other states received lesser but still substantial sums.

But payments to individual states were dwarfed by the payout to the auto workers union, which received more than the states of New York, California, and Texas combined.  Other unions also received government funds, including the United Food and Commercial Workers, the United Mine Workers, and the Teamsters.

And Unions make the the majority of people getting the over 1,000 waivers from ObamaCare.

The UAW, which ended up with a majority share of Chrysler (and much of GM) stock after it went bankrupt – they were paid before bond and shareholders – made out like bandits but The Democrats felt the need to pork them anyhow.

But don’t worry, there’s nothing corrupt going on, that dead fish smell is just your imagination. 😦

Republican investigators count the early-retiree program among those that would never have become law had Democrats allowed more scrutiny of Obamacare at the time it was pushed through the House and Senate.  Since then, Republicans have kept an eye on the program but were not able to pry any information out of the administration until after the GOP won control of the House last November.  Now, finally, they are learning what’s going on.

It comes back to the question: If this law was so fantastic, why all the waivers, cons, pork, and Machiavellian maneuvers to avoid it for your political apparatchiks??

Hmm…. Maybe they they knew that Obamacare, the epitome of socialism, and the redistribution of wealth, does not and cannot work.  It never has and it never will.  This is why they cheat the system.

But since they already have a sense of “entitlement” to everyone else’s money and craving for power that is insatiable I suppose we should expect nothing less.

Now that’s “Winning the Future”. 🙂

“If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – forever.”–George Orwell

Freeloading America

This was just marvelous watching some elitist get skewered by Sen. Ran Paul over low-flow toilets, mercury-filled light bulbs and free choice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAn1FWInBi0&feature=player_embedded

John Stossel: Some Americans actually make a living … begging for money. Professional panhandlers, they’re called, sometimes making more than $100 in a day. I tried it in Manhattan, and made over $11 in one hour—that would be $23,000 a year—tax free!

It’s a small example of why some said that  the USA is turning into a nation of freeloaders. The Manhattan Institute’s Heather MacDonald says that beggars she’s encountered “have the most deep-seated sense of entitlement that I’ve ever come across.”

From those defaulting on their home mortgages, to those who see lawsuits as a lottery ticket, many Americans live off the hard work of others.

Which is why I am a “heartless” right-winger when I ignore them on the streets.

Then there are Million and Billion Dollar Liberals or Government Apparatchiks. Like “Job Creation Czar” Jeffrey Immelt.

General Electric CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt is super-close to President Obama. The president named Immelt chairman of his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Before that, Immelt was on Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board. He’s a regular companion when Obama travels abroad to hawk American exports.

GE, run by Immelt, just made Billion Dollars in the US, tax free. Why?

They paid no taxes at all!

2010 was the second year in a row that GE recorded billions in profits and paid no taxes.

The company, led by Immelt, earned $14.2 billion in profits in 2010, but it paid not a penny in taxes because the bulk of those profits, some $9 billion, were offshore. In fact, GE got a $3.2 billion tax benefits.

In a statement, General Electric said that it “pays what it owes under the law and is scrupulous about its compliance with tax obligations in all jurisdictions.” The company claims that its zero-dollar tax bill is largely a result of losses at its financial arm, GE Capital, due to the Wall Street meltdown. (ABCNews)

“So for GE, in many ways the environmental movement has turned out to be profitable for our investors,” Immelt said Thursday night at a fundraiser at the College of Charleston. (P&C)

But I guarantee very little ire towards an ally from the Press and the Class Warfare Liberals.

They gamed the system and freeloaded. Just like the begger on the corner.

After all, they are “entitled”.

But the class warfare liberal will rail against “corporate” america and CEO’s and  how evil “rich” people are.

They’ll rail endlessly about Exxon, but not GE.

Exxon is EVIL! 😡

Today, White House spokesman Jay Carney said that the president is “bothered” by the idea that a U.S. company could pay no taxes, but he wouldn’t talk about GE specifically. Carney was also quick to say that Immelt’s council advises the president on job growth and not on tax policy.

“It is part of the problem of the corporate tax structure that companies hire, you know, armies of tax lawyers to understand how it works and to take advantage of the various loopholes that exist, that are legal in order to reduce their tax burden,” Carney said.

When President Obama announced his decision to appoint Immelt to the unpaid advisory role on job creation in January, some critics wondered whether the move was appropriate. Under his leadership, GE laid off 21,000 American workers and closed 20 factories between 2007 and 2009. More than half of GE’s workforce is now outside the United States. (ABC News)

Overall, the Times notes, the share of U.S. taxes paid by corporations has fallen from 30 percent of federal revenue in the 1950s to 6.6 percent in 2009. (CBS)

And guess who has to make up for it? 🙂

But he’s a Buds with the Prez ( Lobbyist!), and they will cover for him.

“Over the years, a parade of lobbyists has rigged the tax code to benefit particular companies and industries,” he said. “Those with accountants or lawyers to work the system can end up paying no taxes at all. But all the rest are hit with one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world. It makes no sense. It has to change.”–President Obama in yet another I said it but I sure as hell never actually meant it or believed it, but damn it sounded good moment last January.

Carney was asked why, if the president wants corporate tax reform, he appointed “to the head of the Competitiveness and Jobs Council a person who is now the poster child for abusing the system to get out of paying taxes.”

“The jobs and competitiveness council is designed for just that,” Carney responded. “And he has brought together a lot of voices on that. And he wants to hear the opinions of every member of that council. And we have said, with regard to questions about other members who have been appointed, that the president obviously doesn’t want a council of people who agree with him on every issue; he wants to hear diversity of opinion.” (CBSNews)

Blah, blah,blah,blah,blah…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Face it. He’s buds with the Prez. They both have a “Green” agenda. Immelt’s is just greenbacks!

The Prez gives Billions for Brazil to drill for oil to benefit Billionaire Socialist George Soros but has a virtual moratorium in this country.

George Soros is likely the #1 Democrat $$$ contributor.

Money Leads to Power and more Power leads to More Money.

Just look at the Public Sector Unions!

Illegal Immigrants!

But don’t worry, THEY ARE ENTITLED. 🙂

Everyone is entitled (except “racist” white male Europeans that is).

It’s just matter of much entitlement you feel and how much you can grab. 🙂

The Incredible Rightness of Being

Political Cartoons by Eric Allie

Dr. Charles Krauthammer folks: The November election sent a clear message to Washington: less government, less debt, less spending. President Obama certainly heard it, but judging from his State of the Union address, he doesn’t believe a word of it. The people say they want cuts? Sure they do – in the abstract. But any party that actually dares carry them out will be punished severely. On that, Obama stakes his reelection.

And the Liberal Media will be right there 24/7/365 to pound on you for it relentlessly.

Grandmas with her dentures she borrowed from her dead sister who get thrown out in the cold and is living on dog food and even that is being hurt by the mean, evil republicans!

Remember the new Orwellian Precept, “Spending is INVESTMENT

No other conclusion can be drawn from a speech that didn’t even address the debt issue until 35 minutes in. And then what did he offer? A freeze on domestic discretionary spending that he himself admitted would affect a mere one-eighth of the budget.

Freezing the budget heat at historically over the top levels is no decrease. It’s like saying, Today in Hell it will be 4998 degrees instead of 5000 enjoy the cool weather!

Obama seemed impressed, however, that it would produce $400 billion in savings over 10 years. That’s an average of $40 billion a year. The deficit for last year alone was more than 30 times as much. And total federal spending was more than 85 times that amount. A $40 billion annual savings for a government that just racked up $3 trillion in new debt over the past two years is deeply unserious. It’s spillage, a rounding error.

The debt raises $33,333.33 PER SECOND in 2010. PER SECOND!

As for entitlements, which are where the real money is, Obama said practically nothing. He is happy to discuss, but if Republicans dare take anything from granny, he shall be Horatius at the bridge.

He is happy to let the Republican propose so the Democrats and the Liberals can blow them up for it. After all, that politics. Let your enemy take all the slings and arrows and come in and claim the victory for the people!

So what if entitlements ARE the real problem. The Democrats figure they can win politically if they let the Republican step on all the land mines and then go after them for it gleefully and relentlessly.

And if the Republicans don’t step on every single land mine the Democrats will point it out and ask them if they were “chicken” or protecting someone politically. Then when the Republicans go there, the Democrats and the Media will flash 24/7 “Can you believe what they did?!!” That’s just cruel and heartless!!

Just watch.

This entire pantomime about debt reduction came after the first half of a speech devoted to, yes, new spending. One almost has to admire Obama’s defiance. His 2009 stimulus and budget-busting health-care reform are precisely what stirred the popular revolt that delivered his November shellacking. And yet he’s back for more.

Liberals, especially this President, are oblivious to reality. They just figure if they just keep going it has to work eventually because they are always right and they are so vastly superior to everyone.

There is not even a conception by The Left that they could be wrong on any level.

It’s as if Obama is daring the voters – and the Republicans – to prove they really want smaller government. He’s manning the barricades for Obamacare, and he’s here with yet another spending – excuse me, investment – spree. To face down those overachieving Asians, Obama wants to sink yet more monies into yet more road and bridge repair, more federally subsidized teachers – with a bit of high-speed rail tossed in for style. That will show the Chinese.

Man the battlements!, Castle de Liberal is under seige! The Ego Defense is inflated and ready to deflect all attacks.

And of course, once again, there is the magic lure of a green economy created by the brilliance of Washington experts and politicians. This is to be our “Sputnik moment,” when the fear of the foreigner spurs us to innovation and greatness of the kind that yielded NASA and the moon landing.

NASA? are they still in business??

Apart from the irony of this appeal being made by the very president who has just killed NASA’s manned space program, there is the fact that for three decades, since Jimmy Carter’s synfuel fantasy, Washington has poured billions of taxpayer dollars down a rat hole in vain pursuit of economically competitive renewable energy.

And the food shortages caused by Ethanol (made from corn) are just because of greedy capitalists!!

This is nothing but a retread of what used to be called industrial policy – government picking winners and losers. Except that in a field that is not nearly technologically ready to match fossil fuels, we pick one loser after another – from ethanol, a $6 billion boondoggle that even Al Gore admits was a mistake, to the $41,000 Chevy Volt that only the rich can afford (with their extended Bush tax cuts, of course).

And is a fake electric car (since it can only go 30 miles on electricity and 300 on GAS!) that also has proven that it can’t operate in extreme cold (like this winter) but at least the charging stations will be provided GE (chairman now the “Job Creation Czar”).

Perhaps this is all to be expected from Democrats – the party of government – and from a president who from his very first address to Congress has boldly displayed his zeal to fundamentally transform the American social contract and place it on a “New Foundation” (an Obama slogan that never took). He’s been chastened enough by the election of 2010 to make gestures toward the center. But the State of the Union address revealed a man ideologically unbowed and undeterred. He served up an insignificant spending cut, yet another (if more modest) stimulus, and a promise to fight any Republican attempt to significantly shrink the size of government.

Indeed, he went beyond this. He tried to cast this more-of-the-same into a call to national greatness, citing two Michigan brothers who produce solar shingles as a stirring example of rising to the Sputnik moment.

“We do big things,” Obama declared at the end of an address that was, on the contrary, the finest example of small-ball Clintonian minimalism since the days of school uniforms and midnight basketball.

From the moon landing to solar shingles. Is there a better example of American decline?

But it’s all evil, greedy “rich” Corporate America’s Fault!

Oh by the way, Brother can you spare a job! 🙂

Mind you, Michael Moore is suing people for profits on one of his movies and Arianna Huffington just sold The Huffington Post for $315 Million.

Evil Capitalists! 🙂
