Oh, the Irony…

I had to laugh when I saw this caption on an Occupy rally: The volunteers serving free food to all who attend the protest rally are upset with the large number of homeless and criminals who are there only for handouts.

ROTFL!

Gee, doesn’t the “spread the wealth” crowd know that there are people less well off than they are and they should share THEIR wealth with those less fortunate?

I could laugh about this until the end of time. The irony is so delicious.

The revolution will be fed, but the food may soon be cut back and might not be as tasty.

It looks like the grub served to the Wall Street Occupiers will go from gourmet to gruel tomorrow in an effort to shoo away “professional homeless” people who have been feasting on the Occupiers’ donated dimes.

That’s right. The freeloading Occupiers are angry at all the random freeloading going on down in Zuccotti Park. 🙂

The grub down at Zuccotti has been written up in the past for exceeding expectations with its quality and variety.

Some out-of-work chefs have joined the ranks of the Occupiers, which clearly kicked the cuisine up a notch. But the OWS kitchen staff has had enough of feeding the homeless and random hangers-on.

“We need to limit the amount of food we’re putting out to curb the influx of derelicts,” a kitchen volunteer told the New York Post. Another volunteer said the cooks felt “overworked and under-appreciated” and worked 16-hour days.

ROTFL.

It’s almost like the young Marxists want to be compensated for their labor! 🙂

They have been given $500,000 in donations. They could hire some Chefs and start their own kitchen… 🙂 (Yes, that was capitalist irony).

They want everyone else above them to give them everything and to work harder and longer to give them their free stuff, but when the truly needy- the homeless, who don’t have tents and wi-fi, I-phones, laptops and gourmet food being given to them come around they are “derelicts” to look down upon and shooed away like annoying flies!

So much for “spread the wealth around”. Just don’t spread THEIR wealth around!!

Too funny…

Starting Friday (today), Zuccotti’s own top chefs will switch out their organic chicken, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet salads for brown rice gruel.

The plan is to change  the menu for three days and hope that the “criminals and vagrants disperse.” At that point, the Occupiers may starting whipping up their artisan treats again. If the unwanted false-Occupiers don’t leave, it may be nothing but tasteless porridge and brown rice for the foreseeable future.

But since the story hit the papers, the Occupiers have denied that there plan is to “starve out vagrants.” Instead, the cooks claim they just need a few days to rest and get organized.

Either way, don’t head down to Zuccoti Park anytime soon for the cuisine.

So if you’re Homeless don’t panhandle at the Marxist “Share The Wealth” Occupiers they will shut you down!

Taking their cue from the likes of Cloward & Piven, New York’s hungry homeless — the 99%, if you will — should unite against the 1% of protesters who have good food and refuse to share.  It’s all about the social justice: By trying to collapse the system from the bottom-up and setting OWS’ kitchen elitists against the common (homeless) man, their tactics would make Saul Alinksy proud.

Collapse the kitchen!
Eat the elitist cooks!
The well-fed college students are the 1%!

Once the OWS kitchen system collapses, Michelle Obama can send in the food police to confiscate all the junk food and Kathleen Sebelius’ Department of Health and Human Services can pass out food stamp applications.

Then we can have an Occupy The Occupiers of Wall Street! 🙂

Next Up: OccupierCare!

Revolt against the first aid tent — they’re nothing but non-participating providers who refuse to treat preexisting conditions. Every must pay into it or else! 🙂

And how do you tell who’s homeless and who’s an occupier?

Profiling!?? 🙂

I am laughing so hard…

The cost of the Occupy movement demonstrations…

In San Francisco, the bill is more than $100,000.

Across the country, the figures are growing. In New York City, overtime costs are $3.4 million. In Minneapolis, the sheriff’s department reports spending $200,000. And in Boston, the tally is $2 million and counting.

And in Phoenix, the cost so far is estimated at $204,000.

So it’s not Free to freeload. But just don’t freeload on the freeloaders! 🙂

Now something that is not funny, but is what you should expect from government bureaucrats, especially The TSA.

In the latest scandal to rock the perpetually inept Transportation Security Administration (TSA), a loaded gun slipped through “security” at a major U.S. airport and the agency claims there was no system breakdown because it was not its duty to intercept the weapon.

TSA officials claim they are not required to screen for loaded weapons in checked luggage and an agency spokesman played if off as an “issue” for someone else to deal with. Here is the direct quote from the TSA official published in the paper’s follow-up story on the incident:  “It may be an issue for some agency or the airline, but it’s not a TSA issue. Our mandate is to screen baggage for explosives.”  (LA Times)

Mind you, on the TSA website it says you can’t have a loaded gun.

Janet strikes again.

BUT…They should be Watching YOU!

New street lights that include “Homeland Security” applications including speaker systems, motion sensors and video surveillance are now being rolled out with the aid of government funding.

The Intellistreets system comprises of a wireless digital infrastructure that allows street lights to be controlled remotely by means of a ubiquitous wi-fi link and a miniature computer housed inside each street light, allowing for “security, energy management, data harvesting and digital media,” according to the Illuminating Concepts web site.

In terms of Homeland Security applications, each of the light poles contains a speaker system that can be used to broadcast emergency alerts, as well as a display that transmits “security levels” (presumably a similar system to the DHS’ much maligned color-coded terror alert designation), in addition to showing instructions by way of its LED video screen.

The lights also include proximity sensors that can record both pedestrian and road traffic. The video display and speaker system will also be used to transmit Minority Report-style advertising, as well as Amber Alerts and other “civic announcements”.

With the aid of grant money from the federal government, the company is about to launch the first concept installation of the system in the city of Farmington Hills, Michigan.

So-called ‘talking surveillance cameras’ that use a speaker system similar to the Intellistreets model are already being used in UK cities like Middlesborough to bark orders and reprimand people for dropping litter and other minor offenses. According to reports, one of the most common phrases used to shame people into obeying instructions is to broadcast the message, “We are watching you.”

Oh the Irony…

Little Fiskers

The Newest News on Stimulus Spending:

A Finnish Electric Car. Yeah, I said Finnish, as in Finland. That’s Obama Stimulus money for you.

Oh, and giving money to Oregon loggers, only people in Oregon don’t get the jobs!

Two more such scandals appeared this week, but these latest outrages feature a new wrinkle — stimulus funds being used to create jobs overseas. In the first example, the Obama administration handed $7.2 million to four Oregon logging companies to hire loggers in a severely depressed industry. But according to a Department of Labor inspector general report, only two of jobs thus funded went to U.S. citizens: “Only two Oregonians were listed on the employer recruitment reports, indicating that workers in Oregon were likely unaware these job opportunities were available. In fact, although 146 U.S. workers were contacted by the three employers regarding possible employment, none were hired. Instead, 254 foreign workers were brought into the country for these jobs.”

I guess that makes them Jobs Americans are not allowed to do. 🙂

Your Tax money at work.

In the second new stimulus program scandal this week, the Obama administration gave electric car maker Fisker Automotive a $529 million loan guarantee to build vehicles in the United States. At the time, Vice President Biden claimed “this is seed money that will return back to the American consumer in billions and billions and billions of dollars in good new jobs.” But the rest of the story came out this week when Fisker officials acknowledged that most of the 500 jobs being created are actually in Finland. Allegedly they couldn’t find a suitable assembly facility here in the United States, despite the fact Detroit is the birthplace of the automotive industry, virtually every major manufacturer from around the world has put factories in this country, and there are thousands of unemployed auto workers here. Obama administration officials approved the transfer of jobs to Finland. (Washington Examiner)

With the approval of the Obama administration, an electric car company that received a $529 million federal government loan guarantee is assembling its first line of cars in Finland, saying it could not find a facility in the United States capable of doing the work. (Meaning, if this bombs like Solyndra guess who’s on the hook? 🙂 )

Vice President Joseph Biden heralded the Energy Department’s $529 million loan to the start-up electric car company called Fisker as a bright new path to thousands of American manufacturing jobs. But two years after the loan was announced, the job of assembling the flashy electric Fisker Karma sports car has been outsourced to Finland.

“There was no contract manufacturer in the U.S. that could actually produce our vehicle,” the car company’s founder and namesake told ABC News. “They don’t exist here.”

Translation: The Obama Anti-Business climate strikes again. But, hey at least we are stimulating jobs in Finland where the unemployment rate is 7.8%.

And what would yet another botched Obama green-jobs-stimulus measure be without cronyism…starring Mr. Green Fallacies himself:

The loan to Fisker is part of a $1 billion bet the Energy Department has made in two politically connected California-based electric carmakers producing sporty — and pricey — cutting-edge autos. Fisker Automotive, backed by a powerhouse venture capital firm whose partners include former Vice President Al Gore, predicts it will eventually be churning out tens of thousands of electric sports sedans at the shuttered GM factory it bought in Delaware.

Would that be Delaware, Finland?

They signed off, he said, so long as he did not spend the federal loan money in Finland— something he says the company has taken care to avoid.

OK, great. The company didn’t spend its money in Finland. But that doesn’t change the fact that the point of the exercise was, ostensibly, to create jobs in America. If the factory itself is in Finland, then clearly the Obama administration still failed, and doled out a bad loan.

Furthermore, there is widespread speculation that the start-up car companies won’t meet preset production quotas–meaning taxpayers money will have, yet again, been wasted:

Yet an audit this year by the Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress, criticized the Energy Department for not keeping close enough tabs on its fleet of auto loans — including those to Fisker and Tesla — to ensure they meet benchmarks. The funding was issued under the $25 billion Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing loan program, one piece of a giant umbrella of DOE loans and loan guarantees going out the door.

“DOE cannot be assured that the projects are on track to deliver the vehicles as agreed,” said the GAO report examining the department’s ATVM program. “It also means that U.S. taxpayers do not know whether they are getting what they paid for through the loans.”

Yikes. If this is Obama’s idea of a good investment, I hestitate to ask what his stock portfolios look like. (Sorry, Wall Street is evil-except when he’s bailing them out or giving them taxpayer guaranteed loans!)

But it “felt good” and it gave them an hippie eco-high.

Don’t worry, be happy. 🙂

OCCUPY TOURISM

It’s now common to see tourists at Zuccotti Park taking photographs of themselves, with protesters in the background. On a typical day they clog the pedestrian traffic in the area, which is often bustling with financial district employees pushing their way through.

“Right now, we don’t have a goal — except to back away from the system that’s not working,” replied Udeykin, a 23-year-old Russian-born Iowan. “This is a way to feel free, to feel normal.”

Yes, Comrade. Or is that taking pictures with the freaks at the Zoo??

Some nearby businesses are far less enamored of the protesters, and say the hubbub outside their doors is costing them money.

Stacey Tzortzatos, manager of Panini & Co., a casual restaurant that’s normally bustling as it serves financial district clients, said the eatery has been losing business because police barricades discourage customers from coming in, and media vans are blocking the view.

But the biggest problem, she said, was protesters coming in to use the bathroom — “30 at a time.” She said she put locks on the bathroom doors in response.

“They take showers using the sink, they brush their teeth, and they make a huge mess,” she said.

Tzortzatos said she’s been harassed and verbally abused by protesters, who have come in eating donated food.

“I was called `evil’ for asking whether they were customers, when they came in eating their free pizza, smelling so bad,” she said. “It’s a constant battle, and it’s getting worse as the weeks go by.”

After all, they are titled to it.  It’s not like they have any respect for others. It’s not “fair” otherwise.

Horror Quote of the Week: Biden tells CNN he is not closing door to running for president in 2016.

Virginia Democratic Rep. Jim Moran told The Daily Caller on Thursday evening that President Obama should “refinance every home mortgage” without congressional approval in order to “reset the economy.”

Gee, I thought the government started this whole Mortgage mess by meddling? Why yes, they did. Just don’t expect them to remember that. Certainly not a liberal.

Obama has already asked his Council on Jobs to identify areas of the American Jobs Act that can be implemented without congressional authorization.

Yeah, who needs Congress (aka the Republicans) to get in the way of Dear Leaders magnificent plans that have so worked miracles! 🙂

“It, to me, seems like they’re going all-in on a class warfare strategy,” Sen. Ryan said. “And what seems so ironic to me or hypocritical is I just remember — it seemed like yesterday — that Obama was saying things like, ‘We don’t have red states, blue states. We’re the United States of America; I want to be a uniter, not a divider’; ‘Hope and aspiration.’

“What we’re getting is a commitment to division from the president here. We’re getting basically a strategy to divide, to speak to people as if they’re stuck in some class and they’re stuck in their station in life and the government’s new role is to help cope with it. That is so inherently contrary to what we’re about in this country.”

“Preying on [the] emotions of fear, resentment, envy and anger, to me, makes America weaker, not stronger,” he said. “But I guess this seems to be the cards they’re going to play this year and next year — because for some reason or another, they think that’s going to help them, and I just don’t see how that does.”

FEAR IS HOPE.

Unemployment stands at 9.1 percent, with real unemployment closer to 20. Nearly 50 million Americans are on food stamps. We’ve added $4 trillion in new debt in less than three years. And there’s no sign any of this will change soon.

But at least we are giving money to Finland!

FEAR IS HOPE!

The seriousness of the times require serious leaders…and all we have is Barack Obama, Congressional Democrats and a sea of unwashed “gimmie-crats” sleeping in parks demanding more. Welcome to Progressive America.

As more “Green” scandals involving “friendly” treatment of friends and fundraisers for the president emerge, no one with a “D” after his or her name seems to give a damn. Why would they? It’s not their money. Spending other people’s money is fun. Spending two as-yet-unborn generations’ money is even more fun because you won’t be around when they realize what you’ve done to them. It’s the progressive way.

Not all our problems are Obama’s fault, of course. But his progressive “solutions” to the problems he inherited amount to blowing a hole in the side of a sinking ship in hopes of letting the water out. It might seem like a good idea on paper but only if you don’t actually consider the problem in the solution.

In Progressive America, hatred and anger rule. Does someone have more than you do? Protest that outrage. Remember, after the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., by the anti-Bush lunatic, when President Obama gave that speech calling for a “new tone” in politics? It was a hopeful moment for a nation reeling from tragedy and sick of name calling. It lasted five minutes.

The failure of progressives to control their tongues, to resist spewing such “tolerance” as “The Tea Party are terrorists,” “Republicans are hostage takers” and of talking-head goons from calling conservative women “whores,” is surprising only if you haven’t been paying attention. You can’t stop hateful rhetoric when it’s who you are.

You don’t even have to be conservative to be on the receiving end of an attack from the progressive mob. Wall Street gave more money to Barack Obama than any other candidate in history, yet the aromatically challenged mob isn’t camped outside 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.; it’s drum circling on Wall Street.

If the protesters truly are angry about bailouts, shouldn’t they protest those who gave them rather than those who took them? If they equate money in politics with bribery, shouldn’t they take issue with those accept the bribes as well as those who give them? After all, it’s only an attempted bribe until it’s accepted.

Progressives tell you the system is corrupt, yet never mention Solyndra, Fisker, et. al. The system isn’t corrupt. A system can’t be anything other than a system. It’s the people who are corrupt. This doesn’t fit the progressive agenda, so you’re not likely to hear much about it. But this is, in fact, the heart of the problem.

The progressive agenda is about control – over everyone and everything. The movement was born of arrogance from people who thought they knew better, thought they were better. They were racists who once looked to eugenics to rid the world of “undesirables.” They were superior in thought and deed – and thus uniquely qualified to determine who was worthy of what in society. That mentality, that profound arrogance, continues to form the basis of modern progressivism.

The United States was founded by and for people who believed in the individual. But to be a progressive is to have zero faith in your fellow human beings, to look down on them. This was exemplified by Vice President Joe Biden this week when he doubled down on his “if Republicans don’t pass the president’s ‘jobs’ bill, rapes and murders will increase exponentially” vitriol.

He, the White House, which publicly stood behind his comments, and progressive talking heads all seem to believe Americans refrain from raping and murdering each other solely because there are police around. They believe we’re all animals, and only a powerful government can protect us from ourselves and each other.

Given that Republicans swept the 2010 elections and President Obama’s approval ratings are fast approaching his waist size, you’d expect reality to set in soon and for him to move to the political center. You’d be wrong. He is so insulated from reality and entrenched in the progressive philosophy that when he told ABC’s Jake Tapper “I believe all the choices we’ve made have been the right ones…” on the economy, he truly believed it.

As the election approaches, and if his poll numbers continue to fade, expect President Obama to redouble his efforts to implement as much of the progressive agenda through executive orders as possible. Expect Democrats in Congress to cheerlead the usurpation of their power and their media allies to cheer his actions when they can and ignore them when they must.

Some say progressives disrespect the Constitution, but you can’t disrespect what you never respected in the first place. The concept of limited executive power is foreign to them…when they’re in power. Should a Republican win next November and try to do half the things President Obama has done through executive order, the outrage from progressives will be, well …fun to watch.(Derek Hunter)

Rejoice. Sit back. Chill out. Obama has your back. Just ignore the noose around your neck and the Hangman standing next to you. It’s all for show anyhow…

Whine & Cheese Tuesday

Heard this one before: “My plan says we’re going to put teachers back in the classrooms, construction workers back to work,” (government union and union employees– the more they are back to work the more union money he can collect) President Obama said at a campaign event today. “Tax cuts for small businesses, tax cuts for hiring veterans, tax cuts if you give your workers a raise –- that’s my plan.”

“The Republicans plan, Obama says, boils down to this: ‘Dirtier air, dirtier water, less people with health insurance.'”

Gee, where’s throwing grandma out in the streets, off a cliff or eating dog food?

Kids starving?

Let’s Kill Kenny?

FEAR IS HOPE

Vote for me, the other guy’s an asshole!

Or better yet, he came up with government Health Care before I did! (Romney!)

“We’ve decided, let’s let them do the right thing one more time. We’re going to give them another chance to do their jobs by looking after your jobs. So this week, I’m asking members of Congress to vote. What we’re going to do is we’re going to break up my jobs bill. Maybe they just couldn’t understand the whole thing all at once. So we’re going to break it up into bite-size pieces so they can take a thoughtful approach to this legislation,” President Obama said at a campaign stop in Asheville, NC.

Congress = Republicans. The Democrats who voted against the thing and sunk it don’t count. But we’ll give them another shot at doing everything we want them to do. Namely, SPEND EVEN MORE MONEY! especially on Union members.

Meanwhile, the Senate Democrats can pass the Constitutionally required budget in over 900 days.

But it’s all the other guy’s fault, he’s a heartless asshole, you know. 🙂

The OCCUPIERS

It just gets better and Better, doesn’t it Comrade?  🙂

The revolution will be corporate-sponsored! That’s according to Harrison Schultz, an Occupy Wall Street organizer who also happens to be a “business intelligence analyst” at a publicly traded company. On a limited-access email list shared by Occupy protesters, Schultz wrote of a ”Corporate Funded Revolution,” calling it “a revolutionary plan.”

Despite protesters’ occupation of a New York City park and their stated goal of ending corporate influence — particularly of Wall Street — in government, e-mails emerged Monday showing Schultz and other anti-corporate organizers were a little more corporate than they like to let on.

“My scheme is to commodify any traffic I manage to successfully drive to the occupywallst.org site, open it up and sell it as advertising space to corporations…,” Schultz allegedly wrote. “A Corporate Funded Revolution is a contradiction in terms, its practically an oxymoron. Something we’ve never considered before. It’s a revolutionary plan…”

Orwell, anyone?

Or better yet, an Occupier Barbie and Slacker Occupier Pot head Ken!! (with optional Nazi Gear)

Occupier Bratz Dolls.

Maybe there’s an App for that! 🙂

Or maybe we should just go after the kids some more:

In response to protest organizer Kelley Wolcott’s open request to “coordinate” a “family day,” another mailing list member offered up socialist literature for use during the festivities.

“I have a story book called Tales for Little Rebels: A Collection of Radical Children’s Literature, with stories ranging from Dr. Seuss to Bolshevik sponsored ‘Fairy Tales for Worker’s Children,’” Nicolas Moselle Allen wrote. “Let me know if you would like this!”

A publisher’s blurb for “Tales for Little Rebels” introduces the book by noting that “[r]ather than teaching children to obey authority, to conform, or to seek redemption through prayer, twentieth-century leftists encouraged children to question the authority of those in power. Tales for Little Rebels collects forty-three mostly out-of-print stories, poems, comic strips, primers, and other texts for children that embody this radical tradition.”

NYU Press describes one of the “tales” this way: “In 1912, a revolutionary chick cries, ‘Strike down the wall!’ and liberates itself from the ‘egg state.’” In another, written against a 1940 backdrop, “ostriches pull their heads out of the sand and unite to fight fascism.” A third tale, set in 1972, tells the story of “Baby X,” who “grows up without a gender and is happy about it.” (DC)

Van Jones, The former “Green Czar” and self-admitted Communist: “We should let the spirit of this movement co-opt the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, and the whole country. It’s the best thing in America right now,” Van Jones said about the Occupy Wall Street movement. (RP)

Viva La Revolution! 🙂

I am in fact recently returned from OWS HQ in Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan — a magnificent little isle. It’s run by this one-percenter (as opposed to us, the noble 99 percent) named  “Mayor Bloomberg,” who feels just sick about how rich he is, so he’ll only accept one dollar a year in mayoral salary. Proving that you get what you pay for. Over the years, he has banned everything from clergy at 9/11 ceremonies to smoking at city parks or beaches to trans fats in restaurants. But if you’re an unhygienic anarchist costing the city untold sums in police overtime while camping out for a month, serving dirty-fingernail gazpacho without a food-service permit , and pinching a loaf on a squad car, then hey — his casa es su casa!

I don’t wish, however, to harsh the OWS mellow, as we who are pretending it’s still the sixties like to say .

I also made new friends, like Spooky the Anarchist, a masked-up willfully homeless con artist who was charging tourists to have their picture taken with him, and who described the scene as a “homeless man’s dream camp,” which afforded him everything from free food to free clothing. Then there was Sid the Nazi, an obscenity-spewing white supremacist who had also found common cause with the grab-bag of fellow grievance groupers. Sid explained to me how there’s been a lot of America-approved genocides, from Nagasaki to the American Indian, but when someone like Hitler does the Jews wrong — everybody starts crying about it. Not that he’s admitting Hitler did anything to the Jews. Nor that it was wrong. That’s what the Jewish-controlled media wants you to believe.

But even Sid the Nazi had his fill of his fellow protesters, when getting handed all the commie literature — an affront to good taste, and to Hitler. (Old rivalries die hard.) Of course, Spooky and Sid the Nazi and commie literature make for much inconvenience for the scads of leftoid apologists trying to pretend that OWS is about something that it’s not. As do hard poll numbers, such as New York magazine’s report that over one-third of the attendees believe the U.S. government is no better than al Qaida.

Yes, plenty of greedhead Wall Street types abused the hell out of the system, and caused our country great pain. Nobody can honestly dispute that. Likewise, plenty of people are hurting (some of them my friends and family), and understandably want somebody to blame. But what is this particular protest about? From my experience, I learned that it’s primarily about overeducated, underemployed twentysomethings who are frustrated they haven’t found their dream jobs as documentary filmmakers in the worst economy in several generations, all while amassing 100 grand in student loans. Perhaps they should instead occupy the NYU admissions office, or better still, question their choices and keep their fingers crossed for a rebound. (Things must not be too dire, however, since several protesters I spoke with had quit their jobs to join the movement.) But instead, they’d rather blame JPMorgan Chase for everything from their eczema to their poor Wi-Fi connectivity, so that they can play bongos in the park while pretending their permanent disaffection is about credit default swaps, if they even know what those are.

And this is the larger problem with their movement, as it is with so many movements, truth be told. Movements seek to generalize, and to patch over specifics. To make the complex simple. To find convenient fall guys, and a universal theory of everything. So that if I bought a Mercedes when all I could afford was a Toyota, or bought a $900,000 McMansion when all I could really afford was a townhouse, it must be Lehman Brothers’ fault, not mine. (Matt Labash)

Thomas Sowell:

Like so many people, in so many countries, who started out to “spread the wealth,” Barack Obama has ended up spreading poverty.

Have you ever heard anyone as incoherent as the people staging protests across the country? Taxpayers ought to be protesting against having their money spent to educate people who end up unable to say anything beyond repeating political catch phrases.

It is hard to understand politics if you are hung up on reality. Politicians leave reality to others. What matters in politics is what you can get the voters to believe, whether it bears any resemblance to reality or not.

I hate getting bills that show a zero balance. If I don’t owe anything, why bother me with a bill? There is too much junk mail already.

Radical feminists seem to assume that men are hostile to women. But what would they say to the fact that most of the women on the Titanic were saved, and most of the men perished — due to rules written by men and enforced by men on the sinking ship?

If he were debating Barack Obama, Newt Gingrich could chew him up and spit him out.

Whether the particular issue is housing, medical care or anything in between, the agenda of the left is to take the decision out of the hands of those directly involved and transfer that decision to third parties, who pay no price for making decisions that turn out to be counterproductive.

It is truly the era of the New Math when a couple making $125,000 a year each are taxed at rates that are said to apply to “millionaires and billionaires.”

On many issues, the strongest argument of the left is that there is no argument. This has been the left’s party line on the issue of man-made global warming and the calamities they claim will follow. But there are many scientists — some with Nobel Prizes — who have repudiated the global warming hysteria.

With professional athletes earning megabucks incomes, it is a farce to punish their violations of rules with fines. When Serena Williams was fined $2,000 for misconduct during a tennis match, that was like fining you or me a nickel or a dime. Suspensions are something that even the highest-paid athletes can feel.

Most of us may lament the fact that so many more people are today dependent on food stamps and other government subsidies. But dependency usually translates into votes for whoever is handing out the benefits, so an economic disaster can be a political bonanza, as it was for Franklin D. Roosevelt. Don’t count Obama out in 2012.

Politicians can solve almost any problem — usually by creating a bigger problem. But, so long as the voters are aware of the problem that the politicians have solved, and unaware of the bigger problems they have created, political “solutions” are a political success.

Do people who advocate special government programs for blacks realize that the federal government has had special programs for American Indians, including affirmative action, since the early 19th century — and that American Indians remain one of the few groups worse off than blacks?

I hope the people who are challenging Obamacare in the Supreme Court point out that the equal application of the laws, mandated by the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, is violated when the president can arbitrarily grant hundreds of waivers to the Obamacare law to his political favorites, while everyone else has to follow its costly provisions.

People who live within their means are increasingly being forced to pay for people who didn’t live within their means — whether individual home buyers here or whole nations in Europe.

Regardless of how the current Republican presidential nomination process ends, I hope that they will never again have these televised “debates” among a crowd of candidates, which just turn into a circular firing squad — damaging whoever ends up with the nomination, and leaving the voters knowing only who is quickest with glib answers.

Have you noticed that we no longer seem to be hearing the old familiar argument that illegal aliens are just taking jobs that Americans won’t do?

Fascinating…
