Why would you abandon Hope for Hate??

The trajectory of Barack Obama’s presidency was supposed to be vertical. He would reform the way Washington worked, restore a sense of pride in government, and bolster the liberal nostrum that government can be effective, efficient, and helpful. He would reform health care and use his Democratic majorities to put a price on carbon. People would feel better.

But he was confronted immediately by the imminent collapse of the economy, had to briefly nationalize the American auto industry, was forced to bail out the engine of capital flows (the big banks), which became particularly unpopular. Correspondingly, the White House never quite understood how much Americans distrusted government to fix the problem that they created.

More than ever, voters think America is declining as an economic force. They feel untethered from their government and mistrust concentrated power. They are not confident than their children will do better than they are doing—the first generation to think this way since professional polling began. Neither party has figured out how capture the attention of these voters.

“People are worried about the future and do not believe things are getting better,” said Steve Duprey, a Republican strategist who worked for John McCain in 2012. “The person who can convey that Reaganesque sense of optimism and confidence wins.” (National Journal)

So what he and the Mainstream Media are going to do is lie. Everything is great. Everything is improving. Ignore the man behind the curtain!

The official Obama Slobbering Love Affair II: The Rehabilitation of a Legend in Their own Mind is open for business in Chicago (which just happens to be run by Mayor Rahm “never Let a Crisis go to Waste” Emmanuel so it will be totally on the up-and-up just like all Chicago politics.)

Time to dust off all that “hope and change” and spin it all over again.

Oh, and Republicans hate working people. 🙂

House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) previewed the budget plan he plans to unveil Tuesday, saying that he knew his cuts would give Democrats campaign fodder. “We are giving them a political weapon to go against us. But they will have to lie and demagogue to make that a political weapon,” Ryan said. “Shame on them if they do that.” (Washington Post)

The slobbering raptors of The Ministry of Truth can’t wait.

“We’re doing this now because the politics we believe in does not start with expensive TV ads or extravaganzas, but with you — with people organizing block-by-block, talking to neighbors, co-workers, and friends,” he says, explaining why the launch is coming more than 19 months before Election Day. “And that kind of campaign takes time to build.”

That includes fundraising for what could be the first-ever $1 billion campaign.

He won’t be constrained by Public Financing laws, by the way. Just like last time, any tom-dick-or-George Soros socialist can give him lots of money to just buy the election by Orwellian Ministry of Truth drowning of the airwaves.

The Billion Dollar Campaign Blitz along with the Slobbering Liberal Media will start soon enough, first we have to get our corrupt roots down first.

Not that I have actually stopped campaigning in the last 4 years mind you. 🙂

And if he wins, we might as well just call it a country. After spending $5 Trillion, Obamacare, and projections of Debt at well more than 100% of GDP his second term would be the complete ruin of this country.

After all, according to the Democrats, we aren’t broke and all this talk about being broke (with a $14 Trillion dollar debt and deb-to-GDP ratio of 96%) is just a load of old partisan crap.

Oh, and the Republicans hate the middle class. Hate the Working man (woman, gay, and transgendered). Hate Miniorities. Hate Gays. Hate children. hate Grandma. Hate….Hate….Hate….

So why would you want to elect Hatred instead of Mr. Hope & Change himself!! 🙂

He’s a likeable guy…. 🙂

So what if we have rising Inflation, nearly $4 a gallon gas, a real unemployment rate near 16%.

So what if the housing market continues to crash.

Why would you abandon Hope for Hate??

And to top it off, it’s all the Tea Party’s Fault!

After all, they are strangling “compromise” in Washington. They are extremists and they are in control of the Republicans so they are extremists.

Cutting $20 Billion dollars from a 1.55 Trillion dollar deficit this year is far too extreme according to the Democrats.

So why would you vote for right wing extremists who just want to destroy you when you can vote for Mr. “Winning the Future”. 🙂

Rose colored blinders can be included for an extra tax.

“I don’t agree with Obama on everything but I respect him and I trust him,” Ed from North Carolina says, delivering what’s certain to become a key part of the president’s pitch as he tries to re-energize liberals who have criticized some of his policies and independents who have fled from him in his first term.

He’s a good guy. His policies suck. Your household is a wreck because of him. But he’s a nice guy…

So what is that they say about nice guys and finishing… 🙂

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American  who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man,” it’s rather unobjectionable. Indeed, I’ve said much the same thing myself.” –Senator Joe Biden 2007. 🙂

It just gives me I have to tell you, you know, it’s part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama’s speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don’t have that too often. –Chris Matthews MSNBC

What do you think the reaction would be if a white Republican referred to “my people” while defending the KKK in a voter intimidation case?

(Politico) — Attorney General Eric Holder finally got fed up Tuesday with claims that the Justice Department went easy in a voting rights case against members of the New Black Panther Party because they are African American.

Holder’s frustration over the criticism became evident during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing as Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) accused the Justice Department of failing to cooperate with a Civil Rights Commission investigation into the handling of the 2008 incident in which Black Panthers in intimidating outfits and wielding a club stood outside a polling place in Philadelphia.

The Attorney General seemed to take personal offense at a comment Culberson read in which former Democratic activist Bartle Bull called the incident the most serious act of voter intimidation he had witnessed in his career.

“Think about that,” Holder said. “When you compare what people endured in the South in the 60s to try to get the right to vote for African Americans, to compare what people subjected to that with what happened in Philadelphia, which was inappropriate. . . . to describe it in those terms I think does a great disservice to people who put their lives on the line for my people,” said Holder, who is black.

But you’re a “racist” if you call him on it. 🙂

Holder noted that his late sister-in-law, Vivian Malone Jones, helped integrate the University of Alabama.

“To compare that kind of courage, that kind of action, and to say that the Black Panther incident wrong thought it might be somehow is greater in magnitude or is of greater concern to us, historically, I think just flies in the face of history and the facts.,” Holder said with evident exasperation.

So because of that, he and The Black Panthers can do any old damn thing they want. They are all victims of evil crackers after all so you should just lighten up.

So what you need a Liberal to come in a diminish it, and say it’s all be old tosh that means nothing…Rep. Chaka Fattah, a Democrat from Philadelphia, said the Black Panthers “should not have been there.” But he said the GOP was making too much out of a fleeting incident involving a couple of people.”

When Liberals get caught with their hands in the cookie jar they are either a victim or it’s no big deal.

Remember this gem from 2008: Sen Harry Reid– Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid apologized on Saturday for saying the race of Barack Obama – whom he described as a “light skinned” African-American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one” – would help rather than hurt his eventual presidential bid.

Every Liberal in sight jumped and down and proclaimed his was not a racist and any conclusion other than that was the real problem.

Holder said Reid’s remarks were unfortunate because of the controversy they caused. “I don’t think that there is a prejudiced bone in his body,” Holder told AP.

In 2007, Biden called Obama “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

But remember, when 1 person amongst 100,000 at a Tea Party rally shows up with a questionable sign it’s magnified to represent the entire rally!!

So  just remember, Do as They say, not as They do. 🙂

More “Civility” and “adult conversation” from the Left’s Mr “tingle up my leg” MSDNC’s Chris Matthews:

What comes to your mind when you hear the following name: Newt Gingrich?

A number of things might come to your mind, depending on your ideology. For MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, it’s “car bomber.”

“He looks like a car bomber,” Matthews said on Wednesday’s edition of his show “Hardball.” “He looks like a car bomber, Clarence. He looks like a car bomber. He has that crazy Mestophalian grin of his. He looks like he loves torturing. Look at the guy. I mean, this is not the face of a president.”

Then in a moment of psychological transference (something Liberals are very skilled at): “You know this car bomber reference is very clear to me,” Matthews said. “I have this notion of a guy. It’s not a car bomber, but this guy, it’s kind of like he loves the attack. It’s kind of like he gets a thrill, Clarence, from going for the opponents midsection and hitting him so hard and getting delight in the attack itself.” (DC)

Gee, that sounds like you Chris… 🙂

And from the whacky Left- Michael Moore

Yesterday, Michael Moore said that the money of wealthy Americans “isn’t theres, it’s ours,” and is a “national resource.”

“They’re sitting on the money, they’re using it for their own — they’re putting it someplace else with no interest in helping you with your life, with that money. We’ve allowed them to take that. That’s not theirs, that’s a national resource, that’s ours. We all have this — we all benefit from this or we all suffer as a result of not having it,” Michael Moore told Laura Flanders of GRITtv.

“I think we need to go back to taxing these people at the proper rates. They need to — we need to see these jobs as something we some, that we collectively own as Americans and you can’t just steal our jobs and take them someplace else,” Moore concluded. (RP)

Thanks, Comrade Michael. The Liberal Progressive Collective is pleased. Everyone else is scared. Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid!

This is why the wealthy filmmaker has taken the unprecedented step of posting his bank account numbers online so all Americans can have access to the vital national resource that is “our” money. I’m impressed by th… what? He didn’t do that? I would have expected otherwise because he’s usually not hypocritical that way….(Doug Powers)

He is a multi-millionaire himself. But I guess he’s not a “greedy rich” person just just greedy AND rich. 🙂

Ann Coulter:

For Democrats, the purpose of government is to generously provide jobs for people who otherwise couldn’t be hired — because their skills, attitude or sense of entitlement are considered undesirable in the private sector. And no, I’m not just talking about Barack Obama.

Democrats use taxpayer money to fund a government jobs program, impoverishing the middle class and harming the people allegedly helped by the programs — but creating a vast class of voters who owe their jobs to the Democrats.

This is a system designed to ratchet up costs. Look at the history of every entity where public employees have unionized, and you will find that not only are government workers paid more, but there are also a lot more of them doing a lot less useful work.

There could be two students per class, and the Democrats would still be campaigning for “smaller class size,” so that the government would be required to hire more public school teachers to staff classes with one student. For Democrats, the purpose of public education in this country is not to teach children; it’s to create jobs for “educators.”

Forget the nonsense about working men with dirt under their fingernails, slugging it out at dangerous jobs with a heartless management riding them to get more production at lower wages –- those guys are what liberal journalist Harold Meyerson calls “dead weight.”

We’re talking about government employees, most of whom — when they show up to work at all — sit in comfortable, air-conditioned offices, kick off at 3 p.m., are entitled to endless sick days, personal days and holidays, whose performance can never be evaluated and who retire at age 50. (Again, I’m not focusing just on Barack Obama here.)

Government employees are even worse than welfare layabouts. In a triple-whammy for the taxpayer, they are: (1) hideously expensive, (2) impossible to fire, and (3) doing things you don’t want done at any price.

Hey, guess what? I’m from the government, and I can burn down your garage for $300!

NO! I’M NOT INTERESTED!

OK, fine, I’ll do it for you for $20.

BUT I DON’T WANT MY GARAGE BURNED DOWN AT ANY PRICE!

OK, the guys with the matches and gasoline will be by sometime between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. one day next week….. (and it will cost you triple just ask the GAO)….

When California voters approved Proposition 13 back in 1978, cutting astronomical property taxes 57 percent, the public sector unions went ballistic.

Union bigwig Ron Coleman said, “We’re not going to just lie back and take it.”

John Seferian, vice president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), said the union should have told politicians: “Hey, we’ll bring the roof down on you.” (Which you have to be a member of the roofers’ union to do.)

Jerry Wurf, president of AFSCME, warned that the union was “prepared for confrontation.”

This would be the same AFSCME that was found in Wisconsin in 1959 who’s current Union head makes nearly a HALF MILLION DOLLARS a year. But he’s not a greedy, evil, rich person either mind you.  And I’m sure in the spirit of Michael Moore he is willing to give not only his money to the “little people” in a grand gesture of collectivism, but he’s willing to stop raping the taxpayers for it.

His solution to the ballooning cost of government employees was … guess? That’s right, it was the same as it always is: Tax the rich.

“Let the big shots pay!” Wurf said. Embodying the hopes and dreams of our Founding Fathers, Wurf said organizing government employees was part of his goal to “remake the economic and political system” in line with the vision of socialist Norman Thomas and the Young People’s Socialist League.

Members of public sector unions see their pensions and benefits the way the Mafia views its “partnership” with a restaurant, as described in the movie “Goodfellas”: “Business bad? F–k you, pay me. Oh, you had a fire? F–k you, pay me. Place got hit by lightning, huh? F–k you, pay me.”

Spoiler alert: When the restaurant owner is unable to pay his mob tribute, they burn the place to the ground.

But government employees aren’t exactly like the mob. At least the Mafia guys have a strong work ethic.

Honor amongst thieves?

All Good Warriors are all Class Warriors!

They are greedy, narcissistic, and entitled but only the “rich” are Evil! And all we need to do to wipe out a $14 Trillion debt is just tax the rich! (but not the Liberal rich like Michael Moore) and they have a poll 🙂 to back it up:

Americans think the United States should raise taxes for the rich to balance the budget, according to a 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll released on Monday. (Jan 3,2011- Just before the Republicans were sworn in and took over the House 🙂 )(Huffington Post).

Campus Progressive says the way to solve the deficit is: 1) Tax Wall Street- taxing 0.5 percent of each stock trade- because as we know EVERYONE who trades on Wall Street MUST be filthy rich! (your 401k not included :))

2) Millionaire’s Tax 3) Estate Tax 4) Property Taxes

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes…. You can solve too much binge spending by making those dirty rotten “rich” people who are mocking you pay through the nose and then rip their brains out through that nose and beat their bank accounts to death with it!!

Just not Liberal “rich” people like Michael Moore. :0

A Liberal said it so it must be true!!! 🙂

Rhetoric Uber Alles

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

“Vigorous and spirited public debates during elections are among our most cherished traditions,” Palin wrote in an early morning post on her Facebook account on Wednesday. “But, especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.”

“There are those who claim political rhetoric is to blame for the despicable act of this deranged, apparently apolitical criminal. And they claim political debate has somehow gotten more heated just recently,” Palin wrote on Facebook. “But when was it less heated? Back in those ‘calm days’ when political figures literally settled their differences with dueling pistols?”

The ‘calm days’ where when the Liberal were in complete control and could do anything they wanted and could ignore you’re ignorant, racist, moronic opinions to the contrary. 🙂

The fact that isn’t the reality anymore just makes them mad.

And they will never give up their hunt for what they perceive as political advantage.

“Whether [political rhetoric] caused what happened in Tucson or not, it’ll cause the next tragedy,” Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) predicts on FOX News.

So even if this one isn’t caused by heated political rhetoric (though that’s all we, the left, have been saying for 5 days now) it WILL cause the next one so we have to stamp out the hateful rhetoric of the right before it’s too late!!

Sadly, shamefully, within just minutes, a nasty political spin was kicking in without any brake for decency or evidence. Conservatives were to blame.

CNN broke in with this horrible news at about 1:30 Eastern time, and within an hour, CNN put on the local political cartoonist, David Fitzsimmons, who announced that the shooting was “inevitable” considering “The Right in Arizona, and I’m speaking very broadly, has been stoking the fires of a heated anger and rage successfully in this state.” The state also had a conservative “fetish” for guns that added to the inevitability, he claimed. (Brent Bozell)

Rep. Jim Clyburn wants to bring back the Fairness Doctrine – a move aimed directly at talk radio – while Media Matters CEO David Brock asked Rupert Murdoch to rein in or possibly even fire Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin.

There has been no shortage of individuals and institutions that have sought to capitalize on the shootings in Tucson. Add Vermont senator Bernie Sanders to that list.

This afternoon Sanders sent out a fundraising appeal, seeking to raise money to fight Republicans and other “right-wing reactionaries” responsible for the climate that led to the shooting.

NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE!!

Meanwhile, many proud liberals, not to mention dedicated journalists, see no problem with fueling a mass panic over our “political discourse.” The fact that liberal rhetoric and images are often just as “extreme” is irrelevant. Also irrelevant is any violence that might be linked to such rhetoric. And the fact that the shooting suspect’s motivations may lay in a reality of his own design? That’s irrelevant too.

These critics’ aim is simply to exploit this horror as an opportunity to yell “shut up” at their political opponents. (Jonah Goldberg)

“Every time you listen to them, they are furious. Furious at the left. With anger that just builds and builds in their voice and by the time they go to commercial they are just in some rage every night with some ugly talk. Ugly sounding talk and it never changes,”< MSNBC’s Chris> Matthews said.

So the vitriol and hatred 24/7 on his own show and his own network, MSDNC are exempted, of course. they are as pure and virtuous as the snow covering 49 states right now (go global warming!!)

I guess that was the “tingle” up his leg this time. 😦

And then there’s the hatefest called the Westboro Baptist Church:

WBC WILL PICKET THE FAG-INFESTED, PERVERT-RUN TUCSON HIGH MAGNET SCHOOL (aka 9 year old Christina Taylor Green’s School). KILLED FOR YOUR REBELLION WHEN GOD SENT THE SHOOTER TO DEAL WITH IDOLATROUS AMERICA. (directly from their website by the way)

You know, she was Catholic! Now that’s Just Evil!  And “better off dead

And that’s hardly it. Just the most disgusting.

But don’t worry, it was FOX News and Talk Radio that cause the vitriolic political rhetoric! 🙂

This flood of slanderous sludge is designed for nakedly political benefit: to paint a permanent black mark on conservatives as accessories to murder, and criminalize any expression of conservatism as a dangerous anti-government conspiracy.

Then we need to ban Jodie Foster, after all she was the reason that President Reagan was shot in 1981.

And we need to ban Fan Club groupies because that who killed the Tejano superstar singer Selena.

Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon over “Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger

And Trenchcoats, as in The “trenchcoat mafia” of the two sick kids who shot up Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.

BUT NOT Major Hassan who shot up Fort Hood Army base yelling “Allah Ackbar!” as he kills people!

Oh no! That would be “jumping to conclusions”!!!! (according to the President, the media and the left for months afterwards)

A guy who is a radicalized muslim is just a lone nutjob but a marijuana-toking mentally unstable kid who shoots up a Tucson strip mall is doing it because of right winger extremists!

<<barf bag please>>

It’s apparent from evidence found by the authorities and from interviews with the alleged killer’s friends and acquaintances that Loughner has fixated on Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords since 2007, long before anyone heard of the “tea parties” or, in most cases, Palin. Moreover, his grievance with Giffords appears to be unrelated to any coherent — or even incoherent — ideological platform. Rather, it drew on the bilious stew of resentments this young man cultivated as he lost his grip on reality. (Jonah Goldberg)

But that matters not a whit to the Left. It’s irrelevant.

NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE!

Then there’s the Pima County Sherriff:

Political Cartoon

The sheriff is widely known for calling Arizona’s tough immigration law “racist” because he said it required local law enforcement to engage in racial profiling. He refused to enforce it.

To date, there is no public evidence that accused shooter Jared Loughner was in any way motivated by the national rancor over illegal immigration and the Arizona law (though open-borders extremists from the Justice Department on down most certainly wish it were so). When he complained about non-English speakers, Loughner’s nonsensical diatribes were aimed at illiterates in general — not illegal aliens — and “grammar control” by the government.

No matter. Dupnik vehemently singled out “people in the radio business and some people in the TV business” like Rush Limbaugh for creating the New York Times-patented “Climate of Hate.” Sounding more like an MSNBC groupie (which, surprise, he confesses to be) than a responsible law enforcement official, Dupnik baselessly suggested that the shooting was part of a larger conspiracy and railed against “vitriol” from limited-government activists who are stoking “anger against elected officials.”

Dupnik’s mouth has done more to stoke self-inflicted ire against elected government clowns than anything the right could muster against him. Had the hyper-partisan Democrat been more in tune with his job than the media airwaves, the murderous, maniacal gunman might have been stopped.

As Dupnik himself has now admitted, Loughner leveled death threats against others that were investigated by law enforcement — and then apparently shrugged off. Locals note that Loughner’s mother worked for the county and may have had some pull. Pima County College campus police reported five serious confrontations with the mentally unstable young man before he was kicked out of the school, which he decried as an unconstitutional “torture facility.” Classmates said they feared for their lives. His friends say he was a pothead, a 9/11 Truther and a UFO conspiracist so kooky that even flying-objects adherents spurned him.

Dupnik is now following the same ill-gotten path. But decent Americans understand that he and his civilian counterparts have traveled a smear too far. Despite desperate attempts by the progressive left to pin the massacre on the “harsh tone” of its political opponents, a vast majority of Americans reject the cynical campaign to criminalize conservatism, suppress political free speech and capitalize on violent crime for electoral gain.

At the risk of being accused of inciting violence, you might say they’ve done gone and shot themselves in the foot. (Michelle Malkin)

The Left just doesn’t care. They are going to take their shots no matter what. Sensitivity, compassion, and intellectual honesty are far too low on their priority list for them to care.

The Importance of Being Tennessee

I have been wondering this one for about a week now.

Tennessee, Nashville, in particular has suffered a Millennial Flood.

People have died.

Massive devastation.

The Grand Ole Opry say they may not re-open until Christmas.

Heard much about it in the new media??

Unless you’re FOX, not much.

The Oil Spill and yet another failed bomb attack are more important.

The Oil spill is a disaster, but so is much of the coverage of it.

The failed bomber, who many on the left immediately started wondering out loud if they were a “teabagger” found instead a naturalized Pakistani.

That must have been a crushing disappointment.

So now the left wants to make excuses for him. Oh, it was his foreclosure…he was having trouble making it…etc

After all, he couldn’t be a radical muslim terrorist who failed now could he. 😦

The left can’t even utter “muslim” or “terrorist” to begin with without having their Politically Correct license revoked.

But then there’s Tennessee.

A vastly more widespread and terrible flood than New Orleans.

But there are no $2500 visa cards, FEMA Trailers, and vitriolic media excoriating The President for “being too slow”.

Hell, Obama took more than a week  to even give a crap about the Oil Spill and no one in the Ministry of Truth blinked an eye.

But because, I guess, there is no constituency to exploit, and no photo-ops Tennessee gets largely ignored.

No political points to be scored.

No one screaming “racism” (at least about this) and leaving the poor to die and all the other Katrina-related screaming.

And Tennesseeans are not asking for handouts either.

And that is probably the most telling.

What does it say when 11 men who perish on an exploding oil platform, or 30 poor souls who die in a 1,000-year Tennessee flood, get less coverage than two oil-soaked birds? It says news is driven from the left.

It is to the credit of the one media outlet that reported the paparazzi-like scrums of reporters trailing rescue workers as they tried to clean off one oil-soaked gannet caught in the oil spill off Louisiana waters after a rig exploded in the Gulf on April 20. Not only did the U.S. and European media obsess breathlessly about the bird, and later about a brown pelican that followed, they seemed to be panting for more.

That’s because birds are convenient tools for driving the radical green agenda to halt all oil drilling. TV media and the national papers pounded the bird story because it served a political purpose.

It’s getting obvious that that’s the pattern: A parallel example is in the media coverage of combat deaths in Afghanistan. During the Bush years, the media reported deaths of soldiers daily because it advanced an anti-war agenda. With President Obama now at the helm, they’ve dropped coverage.

A look at the Los Angeles Times’ oil spill coverage, for one, shows birds featured daily in its blog and paper while the 11 oil platform workers have barely registered. On the blog, the news of the deaths wasn’t acknowledged until May 5, eight days after the workers’ employer identified them in a memorial Web site.

Is this important? Yes. Regardless of the worries about the birds, the workers’ deaths are more tragic and have more implications for society. But as people, they hardly serve an agenda.

The bird obsession looks even worse when one looks north to the flooding that’s engulfed two-thirds of Tennessee and its neighbors in a natural environmental disaster. On May 1, the region suffered its biggest floods in 500 years. Nashville was almost underwater. The death toll continues to climb. The regional economy will take a $1.5 billion hit.

The Associated Press has done some excellent team coverage of these events, but it hasn’t been featured much in national news, nor in major newspapers. Tennessee’s floods made a single-column story on the last page of section of the May 6 L.A. Times.

It’s a shame to see these stories buried. The news reflects the values of the media outlets, and unfortunately, a radical agenda drives it. That’s not reflective of what matters in the real America out there, however, and goes to show a disconnect between what’s important to readers and what matters to the left. (IBD)

And the left will be abusing the memory of this accident for decades to push their 19th Century agenda.

And the left will continue to demonize Oil companies gleefully.

Even if Obama and the Democrats have taken massive amounts of cash from them.

Your gasoline price will continue to rise. But it won’t be their fault.

It’s Big Oil!

The Next Demon on the Block!

Meanwhile, the people of Tennessee will quietly just rebuild their lives as best they can.

They don’t matter to the Ministry of Truth.

THE AGENDA IS THE AGENDA.

That’s what matters.

Or as Newsweek put it:

First, the modern media may be more multifarious than ever, but they’re also remarkably monomaniacal. In a climate where chatter is constant and ubiquitous, newsworthiness now seems to be determined less by what’s most important than by what all those other media outlets are talking about the most. Sheer volume of coverage has become its own qualification for continued coverage. (Witness the Sandra Bullock-Jesse James saga.) In that sense, it’s easy to see why the press can’t seem to focus on more than one or two disasters at the same time. Everyone is talking about BP and Faisal Shahzad 24/7, the “thinking” goes. So there must not be anything else that’s as important to talk about. It’s a horrible feedback loop.

Hmmm. The “Everyone Is Only Covering These Stories So We Must As Well” defense.

Anybody buying that?

After all, for any given news outlet, be it print or television, you could find TONS of coverage in the past week not dealing exclusively with the oil spill and Shahzad.

So this certainly doesn’t explain why possibly the biggest non-hurricane/non-earthquake natural disaster in American history got so little coverage.

The problem for Nashville was that both the gulf oil spill and the Times Square terror attempt are like the Russian novels of this 24/7 media culture, with all the plot twists and larger themes (energy, environment, terrorism, etc.) required to fuel the blogs and cable shows for weeks on end. What’s more, both stories have political hooks, which provide our increasingly politicized press (MSNBC, FOX News, blogs) with grist for the kind of arguments that further extend a story’s lifespan (Did Obama respond too slowly? Should we Mirandize terrorists?). The Nashville narrative wasn’t compelling enough to break the cycle, so the MSM just continued to blather on about BP and Shahzad.

So people drowning and losing everything they have in an epic flood wasn’t a strong enough narrative? It didn’t have enough plot twists and turns?

So what was the “narrative” and the “political hook” of the media’s months long focus after Hurricane Katrina? What were the compelling plot twists and turns?

In the end, Katrina’s narrative began almost immediately and continued until President Bush was made a lame duck less than a year into his second term: it was all his fault!

Bush Derangement Syndrome is still a rampant and seemingly incurable virus on the Left.

But when a flood happens in a highly-populated part of the nation’s south, and a Democrat President is slow to respond, that doesn’t fit the narrative for the press to be giving the coverage the story deserves?

There wasn’t a strong enough “political hook” here?

This seems particularly obvious given how the press FINALLY began reporting last Saturday on how slowly the White House responded to the oil spill. As that’s when the torrential rains began to hit Nashville, the media could have had a field day with how the Obama administration was slow on the uptake with that disaster as well.

Seems almost a slam-dunk, doesn’t it?

Or how about this for a narrative: Tennessee was one of the few states Obama didn’t win in November 2008. (NewBusters)

And he is very good to his friends and his base.

Almost exclusively.

And the Ministry of Truth has MSNBC’s Chris Matthews “tingle up my leg” response.

So if the media has no “hook” that makes their leg “tingle” I guess you just don’t matter enough.

And that’s journalism today.

It has to matter to them first. And they have to follow the pack first.

And the pack is full of Leftists.

So THE AGENDA IS THE AGENDA.

Gov. Mike Huckabee, last year:  I’m sad to report today a death of a good friend to all of us…..Journalism, the once esteemed 4th estate of our nation and the protector of our freedoms and a watchdog of our rights has passed away after a long struggle with a crippling and debilitating disease of acute dishonesty aggravated by advanced laziness and the loss of brain function.
Journalism once proudly patrolled our society and sought to tell us the stories that informed and sometimes inspired us.  They also presented the news that would irritate us—and the irritation was not over the delivery, but the content as corruption and misdeeds were revealed.

Or as CNN said in a commercial in 1996, “All the News you need to know” and none of the rest.

Or as Walter Cronkite used to say, “And that’s the way it is…”
