Education Down

The Liberals in California have effectively done away with Education, they just don’t know it yet. They were too busy with their touchy-feely feel good equality to notice.

SB 172, Liu. Pupil testing: high school exit examination: suspension.

This bill would suspend the administration of the high school exit examination and would remove the high school exit examination as a condition of receiving a diploma of graduation or a condition of graduation from high school for each pupil completing grade 12, for the 2015–16, 2016–17, and 2017–18 school years. The bill would, until July 31, 2018, require the governing board or body of a local educational agency, as defined, and the State Department of Education on behalf of state special schools, to grant a diploma of graduation from high school to any pupil who completed grade 12 in the 2003–04 school year or a subsequent school year and has met all applicable graduation requirements other than the passage of the high school exit examination.

Regardless of any performance or no performance at all, you get a HS Diploma no matter what.

So doesn’t that make Education and Teachers superfluous?

If they get it no matter what what incentive is their to even study, to learn, ANYTHING?

What incentive is their to teach anything if no matter what they get the Diploma anyhow?

And further more, if you flunked out in the last 11 years (back to 2004), you retroactive get it anyways.

So go forth you ignorant masses and collect your $15/hr job (“that is only fair”), your free college tuition, your free phone, cable. Who cares!

The “rich” will pay for it all and you don’t have to do anything to earn it!

As the late Chicago columnist Mike Royko said as far back as 1979, “If it babbles and its eyeballs are glazed, it probably comes from California.”

The Granola State, what isn’t fruits & Nuts is flakes!

high school students will no longer have to actually pass high school to receive a diploma. This takes the participation trophy concept to a new disgusting low.

Just show up and you win. Eventually, they’ll figure out they don’t even need to show up because if it’s guaranteed regardless why bother.

THe irony of them holding the ultimate winner-and-loser game this coming year, The Super Bowl, is just just that, lost on them. In their fervent hate of competition and “winner and losers” they have created the ultimate destruction but it “feels good”.

Nothing could epitomize Liberalism better.

Sen. Carol Liu, D-La Cañada Flintridge, who authored the bill, initially introduced the bill because the exit exam is not aligned with new Common Core standards.

Meaning they were failing even the Obama Administrations own handpicked “standards” so in true Liberal fashion they just threw the baby out with the bat water!

It was later amended to remove the exit exam as a requirement for graduation for students who still hadn’t passed because they no longer had an opportunity to take the test.

The poor dears. 🙂 It’s so unfair!

How can businesses properly evaluate prospective employees when “high school diploma” is required if it is essentially meaningless? Who does this actually help? Certainly not the students who “graduated” without mastering any basic skills.

Well, Corporate America is the spawn of the Devil anyways, isn’t it? Full of greedy, misogynistic, bigoted, white people!!

Everyone should make at least $30,000 a year no matter what! Life must be fair for everyone, right? 🙂

But you can bet there will be a ginormous outcry when companies looking for entry-level employees start requiring application exams to determine if candidates can actually read and write beyond the 8th grade level.

That’s discrimination, and probably racism, me old son. That’s just not “fair”.

So why stop at high school diplomas? Who needs a college degree? Why require physicians, accountants and lawyers to take exams to prove their knowledge? Or is California simply admitting its public education system is so worthless that a diploma from one of its high schools is as well?

Well, a huge number of kids graduate who can’t read the damn thing right now anyhow.

It is terribly disheartening to see this nation, step by step, lose all appreciation for achievement and excellence.(alan west)

But it’s only “fair” and it make everyone “feel good”. Competition is bad. Excellence is too hard and too unfair.

Veronica Steele, a 27-year-old who received a certificate of completion from Rio Linda High, which is near Sacramento, said she was also excited after learning she will now be able to get her diploma and pursue a career as a veterinary technician. Failing the exam and not graduating, she said, negatively affected her.

“It shot my confidence,” she said. “I lost complete self esteem because of that test and now that I’m going to get my diploma, it feels like a weight’s being lifted off my shoulder.” (edsource)

Thank you, Governor Moonbeam for making my dreams come true! 🙂

nothing. The test is hardly complex. The math test, for instance, only covers 8th grade-level material and can be passed if students answer 55 percent of questions correctly. About 80 percent of California high schoolers take and pass it on their first try while in the 10th grade, and overall passage rates for the class of 2014 were above 97 percent.

But poor Veronica has been saved from a life of humiliation and self-destruction where she could pass a test with an E but now doesn’t have to.

That’s the kind of Vet Tech I want working on animals! 🙂

And don’t aspire to greater things because it requires a State License and that’s another evil test you might fail and suffer crushing self-esteem issues…

CARVTA: To be eligible to take the RVT (Registered Veterinary Tech) licensing examination, a candidate must meet the requirements of one of three eligibility categories:  (for now) 🙂  It’s so unfair and unequal!

  • 1. Graduate from, at minimum, a two-year curriculum in veterinary technology in a college or other post-secondary institution approved by the California Veterinary Medical Board (VMB). (Generally an AVMA approved school) or complete a program or curriculum that has been deemed “equivalent” to a two-year approved program by the VMB (California approved school). *  (even if you have a HS Diploma regardless 🙂 )
  • 4. Licensed, certified or registered as an RVT in another state (or in Canada) and have taken an examination determined by the VMB to be equivalent to the California RVT examination and have at least 4416 hours of directed clinical practice in no less than 24 months under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. *  (and I bet it takes more than 55%!! to pass!)
  • 5. Complete a combination of at least 4416 hours of directed clinical practice in no less than 24 months under the direct supervision of a California-licensed veterinarian and 300 hours (or 20 semester or 30 quarter units) of specific education. (This is the Alternate Route). **

Other Requirements for Licensure

In addition to meeting the requirements of one of the above eligibility categories, candidates must be:
1. At least 18 years of age
2. Fingerprinted (live scan) prior to licensure
3. Free of convictions for crimes substantially related to the practice and duties of an RVT. (Anyone who has any convictions should contact the VMB to be sure they will be eligible.)

So no #BlackLives Matter convictions, DUI, riots, etc bec a good little liberal robot… 🙂

We would never have become the most powerful nation on earth without demanding high standards from ourselves, our countryman and our leaders. But clearly it no longer matters. Lying and criminal behavior no longer disqualify anyone from the presidency, so who cares about something as trivial as high school diploma?

If you don’t believe this is just the tip of the moral decline iceberg, here’s another disturbing law just passed:

AB 329: Makes participation in sex education courses mandatory for students unless parents opt-out, would also inculcate the teaching of a fluid gender identity

“Fluid gender?” I suppose that’s separate to the “gender fluids” discussed in the sex education course. Sorry. Couldn’t help myself.

AB 359: Forces stores to keep employees for at least 90 days so they cannot be fired as a result of buyouts or mergers;

Because that’s just not “fair” and the greedy corporate bosses…I mean really… 🙂

AB 1014: Will permit family members to obtain a restraining order to keep relatives who might commit gun violence from owning a gun;

I am trying to find the humor in all of this because it’s all so terribly sad. (Michelle Hickford)

Who needs to do anything but sit back, enjoy life and let the government take care of you, you ignorant Matrix-style moron. They just hand you everything you need so why strive for anything better. It’s too “unfair” and too “hard” so why bother.

Just vote for us to take it from those greedy others. They can’t object without being bigots, racists or intolerant anyways. 🙂

About 249,000 students, or 6 percent of test-takers, could not pass the test before the end of their senior year since it became a graduation requirement for the class of 2006. It’s unclear how many of these students did not receive diplomas only because they failed the test, and how many wouldn’t have graduated anyway because they also lacked enough credits, or did not meet grade requirements.

The new law also calls for the state to suspend the exit exam in the 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years and to eliminate it as a graduation requirement during that time. Meanwhile, lawmakers and educators will determine if the state should create a new version of the test that’s aligned with the Common Core State Standards, or eliminate it altogether as a graduation requirement in the future. (edsource)

So by 2018 when Governor MoonBeam is up for re-election…. 🙂

It’s just so unfair. 🙂

The Lion’s Den

Fascinating Video.

Watch the Leftist indoctrinator/puppet mistress in the Left corner of the screen for extra credit.

FYI: Amherst says it is charging students $60,400 in tuition, fees, room and board. By comparison, it charged $43,300 in 2000-01, in inflation-adjusted dollars. So even after Amherst’s prices have been adjusted for economywide inflation, the cost has jumped 34 percent in only 14 years.

For perspective: Arizona State $21,000 in state, $35,000 out of state.

Now that’s White Privilege. 🙂

Dinesh D’Souza is a brave man and a very good speaker, but did the Leftists learn anything?

Of course not.

That, dear Citizens, would be a Thought Crime. Not to mention they are far to narcissistic for that.

If you enjoyed the viral clip of Dinesh destroying a self-satisfied campus leftist at Amherst earlier this year, check out this full-length video of the entire discussion on America’s role in the world.

Love this guy. 🙂

The illegal alien murderer of Vanessa Pham
by Michelle Malkin

Copyright 2013

Why is gun control the only policy we’re allowed to discuss when horrific murders occur? In the liberal mindset, “root causes” of crime begin and end with the Second Amendment. But who pays the price when our public guardians fail to secure our borders, refuse to deport serial criminal offenders, and enable drug-crazed menaces to prey upon innocent citizens?

Meet 27-year-old Julio Miguel Blanco-Garcia. An illegal alien from Guatemala, he has lived and worked in Fairfax County, Va., for at least 11 years. The region is a notorious “sanctuary” for immigration law-breakers where elected officials and big business look the other way for cheap labor and cheap votes.

When he wasn’t working illegally as a construction worker in the government-fueled Boomtown ‘burb or getting himself high on drugs, Blanco-Garcia was building up a lengthy rap sheet. According to Fairfax County court records cited by the Fairfax City Patch.com, Blanco-Garcia has been arrested for:

–Public swearing/intoxication in March 2010.

–Petit larceny in September 2011.

–Concealment/Price alteration of merchandise in April 2012.

With the feds granting blanket amnesty waivers by administrative fiat and refusing to fix the deportation abyss, coupled with brazen “don’t ask, don’t tell” sanctuary policies by local officials, Blanco-Garcia managed to escape detention and deportation for more than a decade. In December 2012, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (which includes U.S. Marshals staff, Fairfax County police, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and D.C. fugitive operations officers) finally caught up with Blanco-Garcia. They detained him after determining “that he was in violation of U.S. immigration law.”

But it was too late for 19-year-old college freshman Vanessa Pham. In July 2010, the bubbly art student’s decision to be a Good Samaritan to open-borders beneficiary Blanco-Garcia cost her life. After getting her nails done at a Fairfax Plaza salon, she encountered the illegal alien and his infant daughter in the parking lot. Blanco-Garcia was strung out on $400 worth of PCP.

According to prosecutors, he asked Pham to take him to the hospital. She let the man and his baby into her car. When Pham took a wrong turn, Blanco-Garcia turned on her — stabbing her more than a dozen times with a knife he was carrying. She veered into a ditch; he coldly wiped her blood off of his hands with a baby wipe and clambered out of the sunroof with the child.

Cops found the blade of the murder weapon, with the killer’s DNA, under Pham’s seat. But for nearly three years, her friends and family agonized as the DNA remained unidentified and the case unsolved. The investigative break? Illegal alien Blanco-Garcia continued his criminal havoc — surprise, surprise — and attempted to steal several bottles of champagne from a local grocery store. He was convicted of larceny in April 2012. By December, law enforcement had tied his fingerprints to Pham’s murder. Blanco-Garcia’s trial begins next week.

True to form, the whitewash media have ignored Blanco-Garcia’s immigration status and the public policy implications of our government’s systemic, bipartisan refusal to enforce the laws already on the books. The Washington Post (which employed illegal alien reporter turned amnesty activist Jose Antonio Vargas for years and glorified the amnesty mob marches in 2006 and 2007) conveniently failed to mention Blanco-Garcia’s illegal alien status. Some crimes are more equal than others.

According to immigration activists pushing to grant Guatemala “temporary protected status” — a de facto amnesty program run by the Department of Homeland Security that confers permanent residency, taxpayer subsidies and preferential employment treatment to line-jumpers, border-crossers and visa overstayers — there are approximately 1.7 million Guatemalans in the U.S. A whopping 60 percent of them, like Blanco-Garcia, are here illegally.

That’s on top of the jaw-dropping backlog of 500,000-plus fugitive deportees who had their day in immigration court, were ordered to leave the country and then were released and absconded into the ether.

And that’s on top of 1 million-plus visa holders whom the feds have lost track of because Congress never bothered to fulfill its legislative mandate to create a functioning entry-exit system — something Washington has promised to do six times over the past 17 years.

The horrific murder of Vanessa Pham was 100 percent preventable. Blanco-Garcia never should have been here in the first place. After each encounter with law enforcement, he should have been detained, deported and kept out. For good.

I repeat: We spend billions of dollars on homeland security, but our government can’t even track and deport repeat convicted criminal aliens. These are not the well-meaning “newcomers” who just want to “pursue economic opportunities” by “doing the jobs no one else will do.” These are foreign-born thugs, druggies, sex offenders, murderers and repeat drunk drivers who are destroying the American Dream.

If our immigration and entrance system cannot effectively monitor, detain and kick out known American Destroyers, how can amnesty-peddling politicians in either party be trusted to provide for the common defense of law-abiding citizens pursuing the American Dream?

But remember, if you disagree, you’re a RACIST! 🙂

The Dependent Life

Americans have now elected twice a man who said he wanted to spread the wealth around. So how ugly is it going to get? The Senate Budget Committee says welfare spending will nearly double in 10 years. This would be the Senate Budget Committee that refused to pass a budget for the 4th time in a row despite it being a requirement of both the Congress and The President. 🙂

Using data from the Congressional Research Service and Congressional Budget Office, the Budget Committee’s Republican staff has added up what’s spent on cash aid, health assistance, housing assistance, and social and family services.

All told, welfare spending will rocket from roughly $800 billion in the current fiscal year to about $1.4 trillion in fiscal 2022 — a nearly 80% jump.

All told, overall welfare spending for the decade will be $11 trillion — “roughly one-quarter of cumulative federal spending,” the Budget Committee reports.

And that doesn’t even include state spending on welfare, which, when added to federal benefits, was more than $1 trillion in fiscal 2011. That’s enough, the Budget Committee tells us, “to mail every household in poverty a check for $60,000 each year.”

How did we get here? In Obama-esque fashion, of course. The committee says the unimaginable spending is in part “driven by a series of controversial recruitment methods that include aggressive outreach to those who say they do not need financial assistance.”

Recruitment. Come be poor on the government’s dime. It’s free, it’s easy and you can be lazy. And all you have to do to maintain it is vote for me because the other guy’s an asshole who wants to take your candy away.

“Recruitment workers are even instructed on how to ‘overcome the word “no”‘ when individuals resist enrollment,” says committee research. “The USDA and Department of Homeland Security also have promotions to increase the number of immigrants on welfare despite legal prohibitions on welfare use among those seeking admittance into the United States.”

We want you to buy this poverty that you don’t need and you get a Free Obama Phone as free gift, and if you act now we’ll throw in free internet also!

So where’s my Ginzu Knife? 🙂

The best welfare program is not a government plan.

It is a strong, expanding economy, which is, in fact, the only path for overcoming poverty.

But poverty and the class warfare to go with it works much better for Democrats. A Permanent underclass is preferred. And then you add in 12 million illegal aliens and you have a voting block to win elections regardless of how bad things get for everyone else. What could be better than that? 🙂

Science fiction writer Robert Heinlein noted that “throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man.” It is only through free enterprise, which is fed by open trade, unfettered capitalism and liberalized markets, that humans have emerged from their natural state in which life was nasty, brutish and short.

To paraphrase the great Milton Friedman, man’s great achievements have not been the product of a government program, a redistributionary scheme or bustling bureaucracy. They are due to the simple profit motive at work in political systems that let people be fittingly compensated for their innovations and efforts.

No system has lifted man’s standard of living as free enterprise has. As Friedman also once said, the masses that suffer the most from grinding poverty are those trapped in societies that depart from free enterprise.

But Free enterprise is evil. Just as a Democrat.

“The record of history is absolutely crystal clear,” he said. “There is no alternative way so far discovered of improving the lot of ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by a free enterprise system.”

Washington’s focus should be on removing the restraints it has placed on free enterprise rather than busying itself with building a nation of dependents, as it has for the last eight decades.

But then it wouldn’t all be about them and what they want. We can’t have that!!

A growing welfare state helps no one — aside from politicians who traffic in addiction to government — but a burgeoning economy improves everyone’s well being.

But the addiction to government IS what government wants. The more the merrier.

Having people struggle and fail and struggle and succeed is far worse than people just sitting back and letting government do everything for them and then voting to continue to give them more and more of less and less and less.

It’s not what’s good for the people that matters. Its what’s good for the government that matters. After all, government is both Mother and God all rolled into one. Government can solve anything, can take care of anyone, better than any force on earth, right?

The best policy? Doubling not welfare spending over the next decade, but the size of the economy. (IBD)

But then you have a bunch ungrateful rich and independent people who want to do what’s best for THEM, and not you the government and we can’t allow that to happen now can we.
And don’t bother talking to people about inflation. The Democrats have bred their cattle dumb and with an unhealthy uninformed narcissism just like they like them.

If you put $1,000 in your piggy bank in 1960 and took it out to spend in 2000, you would discover that your money had, over time, lost 80 percent of its value.

Despite all the political rhetoric today about how nobody’s taxes will be raised, except for “the rich,” inflation transfers a percentage of everybody’s wealth to a government that expands the money supply. Moreover, inflation takes the same percentage from the poorest person in the country as it does from the richest.

That’s not all. Income taxes only transfer money from your current income to the government, but it does not touch whatever money you may have saved over the years. With inflation, the government takes the same cut out of both. (thomas sowell)

But “soak the rich” is the battle cry to get the addicted to rise up against their “oppressor” and vote to stick it to them!!!
The sheep then get sheered and don’t even know they got fleeced.
Always the best strategy for a thief, to make sure the mark never knows (or know way too late) that they’ve been robbed.
The use The Ministry of Truth to cover it up and rile up the addicts and you have the making a of a perpetual E-motion machine that will do your bidding almost mindlessly.
What could be better.

The biggest and most deadly “tax” rate on the poor comes from a loss of various welfare state benefits– food stamps, housing subsidies and the like– if their income goes up.

Someone who is trying to climb out of poverty by working their way up can easily reach a point where a $10,000 increase in pay can cost them $15,000 in lost benefits that they no longer qualify for. That amounts to a marginal tax rate of 150 percent– far more than millionaires pay. Some government policies help some people at the expense of other people. But some policies can hurt welfare recipients, the taxpayers and others, all at the same time, even though in different ways.

Why? Because we are too easily impressed by lofty political rhetoric and too little interested in the reality behind the words. (Thomas Sowell)

Dependency is Life. Life is dependency.
Government is your GOD.God will provide (hence cutting spending is also an evil that must be destroyed).
Life isn’t fair, but Government will make it fair! For you! All you have to is sell your soul to the Government store!

Be a Kid Again

So let’s see…

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

You can get 99 Weeks of Unemployment. Free food from food stamps. An Obamaphone and Free Internet all from the government and there’s housing assistance…all if you’re “poor”.

Then there’s Disability, Social Security, Medicare, and more.

Then you tax the people who are actually working to “help” out the “poor”?

And you blame it all on “the rich”.

Why do I bother? Seriously… Why?

Because, I have pride and self-motivation and I’m not a lazy ass SOB. That’s why.

Just another reason why I’m not politically correct. 🙂

A Dinosaur in a Socialist age.

And the other gravy train…Public Sector employees.

Employees who are paid by the tax payers because government do not actually produce anything, but boy can they spend it and tell you how to spend your money (especially on them).

The public sector employee is paid by the taxpayers. So if you have more of them you need more tax money. If you have a dwindling of tax payers (since 50% of Americans pay no taxes) you have to get from “the rich”.

Again.

So what incentive is their to be successful and “rich” in America these days?

In the 1,420 days since he took the oath of office, the federal government has daily hired on average 101 new employees. Every day. Seven days a week. All 202 weeks. That makes 143,000 more federal workers than when Obama talked forever on that cold day in January of 2009.

Meanwhile, 25 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed and the “official” unemployment rate has largely not changed one bit in 4 years because millions have given up looking. Well, look to Uncle Sam, he’s hiring… 🙂

Under Obama the total federal workforce has surpassed two million for the first time since the first Clinton term, now sitting about the 2.2 ,million level.

Now comes a new poll revealing that Americans know what’s going on. A majority of Americans believes government workers make more money than private sector workers, according to the new Rasmussen Reports poll. Sixty-one percent of private sector workers believe that.

Surprisingly, Republicans, independents and Democrats are united in agreement that government employees have it better than private sector workers although, predictably, Dems are slightly less sure.

“The federal workforce has become an elite island of secure and high-paid workers, separated from the ocean of average American workers competing in the global economy,” according to a report this year by the Cato Institute.

That report found the average civilian federal government worker collected just under $84,000 a year in taxpayer money, about $32,000 more than the average private sector worker. That’s a total federal worker package of about $236 billion a year.

The latest IRS report said, for instance, that 36 of Obama’s White House aides had $833,000 in unpaid back taxes.

According to Rasmussen, two out of three Americans are sure that company employees work harder than their lazy lay-about government counterparts. Only five percent think it’s the other way around; they may belong to street repair crews (see photo above).

Even a plurality (48%) of government employees admit their private industry counterparts do work harder.

Another 67% believe that government workers have greater job security than those in the production- profit-driven private sector, job security being an acute issue in these last four Obama years so rife with economic uncertainty.

Sixteen percent don’t think there’s much difference in job security, while 9% say government workers have less job security. They may be state and local government employees, whose number has declined with the end of Obama’s ineffective $830 billion economic stimulus package, much of it devoted to protecting those union jobs.

That protection was only temporarily, as it turns out. But the borrowing to pay for it is now a permanent part of the nation’s $16.3 trillion debt. (IBD)

So work less, get paid more, and suck off the “rich” while running up the debt.
What could be better?
How about not working, sitting at home getting paid and surfing the internet and talking to your peeps on the phone all for Free!
Gee, it’s just like being a kid again!!!
No responsibilities.
No Cares.
And “rich” people to pay your bills.
What is not to like? 🙂

And just like Mom, when asked, “Who’s going to clean up this mess?”

You say, “Not Me…” “They Did it…” “Ah, Mom, do I have to…”

I don’t Wanna!  <stomp your foot!>

Food For The Sowell Chapter 2

Political Cartoons by Robert Ariail

President Obama today issued a stern warning to Republicans in Congress threatening to use the debt ceiling as a bargaining chip in deficit negotiations, saying “it is not a game that I will play.”

“I want to send a very clear message to people here: We are not going to play that game next year. If Congress in any way suggests that they’re going to tie negotiations to debt ceiling votes and take us to the brink of default once again as part of a budget negotiation, which, by the way, we have never done in our history until we did it last year, I will not play that game,” Obama told some of the nation’s top CEOs at the Business Roundtable in Washington. “We’ve got to break that habit before it starts.” (ABC)

Detroit wants expects a bailout.

City Council member JoAnn Watson said Tuesday the citizens support of Obama in last month’s election was enough reason for the president to bailout the struggling the city.

“Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that,” said Watson. “Of course, not just that, but why not?”

Oh goodness.

“After the election of Jimmy Carter, the honorable Coleman Alexander Young, he went to Washington, D.C. and came home with some bacon,” said Watson. “That’s what you do.” (WP)

Detroit is $1.6 Trillion in debt. Detroit has always been a liberal haven, it’s ruin by Unions mostly (yes that was a Freudian slip :)). But this is nakedly, unashamed liberal narcissism.

Bribe them, and they will come (to vote for you) now they want their Ton of bacon! And they want it now!!!!

So they can spread it to all the little bacon-nippers they’ve bribed.

The Circle of Liberal life!

Thomas Sowell: One of the big advantages that President Obama has, as he plays “chicken” with the Congressional Republicans along the “fiscal cliff,” is that Obama is a master of the plausible lie, which will never be exposed by the mainstream media– nor, apparently, by the Republicans.

A key lie that has been repeated over and over, largely unanswered, is that President Bush’s “tax cuts for the rich” cost the government so much lost tax revenue that this added to the budget deficit– so that the government cannot afford to allow the cost of letting the Bush tax rates continue for “the rich.”

Joseph Goebbels: If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

And with a  24/7/365 Ministry of Truth it is a LOT easier to do.

It sounds very plausible, and constant repetition without a challenge may well be enough to convince the voting public that, if the Republican-controlled House of Representatives does not go along with Barack Obama’s demands for more spending and higher tax rates on the top 2 percent, it just shows that they care more for “the rich” than for the other 98 percent.

What is remarkable is how easy it is to show how completely false Obama’s argument is. That also makes it completely inexplicable why the Republicans have not done so.

The official statistics which show plainly how wrong Barack Obama is can be found in his own “Economic Report of the President” for 2012, on page 411. You can look it up.

You may be able to find a copy of the “Economic Report of the President” for 2012 at your local public library. Or you can buy a hard copy from the Government Printing Office or download an electronic version from the Internet.

For those who find that “a picture is worth a thousand words,” they need only see the graphs published in the November 30th issue of Investor’s Business Daily.

IBD: Turn to Pages 411-413 of his 2012 Economic Report of the President, published by the Council of Economic Advisers. They show that “the math,” as Obama is wont to say, in fact does add up for tax cuts.

After President Bush in late May 2003 signed the largest tax cut since President Reagan — including dropping the top marginal rate to 35% from 39.6% — government receipts from individual income taxes rose from $793.7 billion to a peak of $1.16 trillion in 2007, when the mortgage crisis began, a 47% jump.

Stronger economic growth expanded the tax base and brought in so much revenue that Bush more than halved the deficit over that period. The budget gap plunged to $160.7 billion from $377.6 billion, according to the president’s report.

Perhaps the most impressive statistic appears on Page 412, one that undercuts Obama’s core argument against continuing the Bush tax cuts.

The post-tax-cut surge in economic growth and tax revenues helped drive down the deficit from 3.5% of gross domestic product in 2004 to 2.6% in 2005, to 1.9% in 2006 and to a manageable 1.2% in 2007.

Based on Bush fiscal policies, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projected budget deficits of 0.7% to 1.5% of GDP for the years 2008 through 2011. The CBO even predicted surpluses for the subsequent years through 2018.

What derailed the forecast was the subprime mortgage crisis of 2008.

This financial anomaly threw the economy into a deep recession, beginning in December 2007, and forced a collapse in federal tax revenues.

As a result, the deficit-to-GDP ratio shot up to 10% in 2009 and has remained around that level, thanks to record Obama spending.

(The recession technically ended in June 2009.)

Obama’s economic report shows that the average deficit-to-GDP ratio during the entire Bush administration — 2001 to 2009 — was 2%, which is well below the 50-year average of 3%.

During the Obama years, in contrast, the same deficit ratio has averaged 9.1%.

The Bush tax cuts did not “cost” the Treasury revenues. Nor did they increase income inequality.

When fully implemented, they increased the portion of the income tax burden that fell on the wealthiest Americans.

The top 1% of taxpayers went from paying 38.4% of overall taxes to 39.1%, while the bottom 50% saw their share drop from 3.4% to 3.1%.

And as a percentage of the economy, deficits shrank to historically low levels.

Record red ink flowed much later as the housing market toppled and government spending shot up.

New spending on welfare programs and Obama’s $1.9 trillion national health care entitlement threaten only to compound the budget crisis.

Yet he proposes backloading any promised spending controls while front-loading “revenue increases” from tax hikes. (IBD)

What both the statistical tables in the “Economic Report of the President” and the graphs in Investor’s Business Daily show is that (1) tax revenues went up– not down– after tax rates were cut during the Bush administration, and (2) the budget deficit declined, year after year, after the cut in tax rates that have been blamed by Obama for increasing the deficit.

Indeed, the New York Times reported in 2006: “An unexpectedly steep rise in tax revenues from corporations and the wealthy is driving down the projected budget deficit this year.”

While the New York Times may not have expected this, there is nothing unprecedented about lower tax rates leading to higher tax revenues, despite automatic assumptions by many in the media and elsewhere that tax rates and tax revenues automatically move in the same direction. They do not.

The Congressional Budget Office has been embarrassed repeatedly by making projections based on the assumption that tax revenues and tax rates move in the same direction.

This has happened as recently as the George W. Bush administration and as far back as the Reagan administration. Moreover, tax revenues went up when tax rates went down, as far back as the Coolidge administration, before there was a Congressional Budget Office to make false predictions.

The bottom line is that Barack Obama’s blaming increased budget deficits on the Bush tax cuts is demonstrably false. What caused the decreasing budget deficits after the Bush tax cuts to suddenly reverse and start increasing was the mortgage crisis. The deficit increased in 2008, followed by a huge increase in 2009.

So it is sheer hogwash that “tax cuts for the rich” caused the government to lose tax revenues. The government gained tax revenues, not lost them. Moreover, “the rich” paid a larger amount of taxes, and a larger share of all taxes, after the tax rates were cut.

That is because people change their economic behavior when tax rates are changed, contrary to what the Congressional Budget Office and others seem to assume, and this can stimulate the economy more than a government “stimulus” has done under either Bush or Obama.

Yet there is no need to assume that Barack Obama is mistaken about the way to get the economy out of the doldrums. His top priority has always been increasing the size and scope of government. If that means sacrificing the economy or the truth, that is no deterrent to Obama. That is why he is willing to play chicken with Republicans along the fiscal cliff.

The end justify the means.  It’s only “fair” 🙂

The New American Dream

There was, however, another closely tracked number which perhaps is far more indicative of the economic “growth” in the past 4 years, which certainly had a delayed release. The number of course is that showing how many Americans are on foodstamps, and usually is released at the end of the month, or the first day or two of the next month. This time the USDA delayed its release nine days past the semi-official deadline, far past the election, and until Friday night to report August foodstamp data. One glance at the number reveals why: at 47.1 million, this was not only a new all time record, but the monthly increase of 420,947 from July was the biggest monthly increase in one year. One can see why a reported surge in foodstamps ahead of the elections is something the USDA, and the administration may not have been too keen on disclosing. (zH)

Well, this was to hide the dependency on the Government drug that Obama has created and thus got re-elected by.

That and the Hatred and fear waves.

That is the new “campaign of ideas”. 🙂

Finally, going back to the start of the official start of the depression in December 2007. In the 57 months from then until August 2012, there have been 4.6 million jobs lost even as Americans on foodstamps and disability have risen by 21.2 million.

Comment on the site that illustrates the disease: NO ONE COMPLAINS ABOUT GIVING TRILLIONS TO THE RICH, BUT YOU GIVE JUST ONE MISERABLE DOLLAR TO A POOR PERSON… There were plenty of people around here saying its not a good idea to bailout the IB’s and don’t throw money at Solyndra, Fisker, A123 etal. Those are all run by the rich.

Being rich and successful in American now is a sign of the devil, of pure unfettered evil.

The New American Dream: Don’t work Hard, expect the government to take care of you, and Eat The Rich!

The Founding Fathers would be proud of you.

Thomas Purcell: What went wrong is that the GOP picked a candidate that simply no one could figure out what he stood for at all. The man that worked to develop Romneycare was saying that Obamacare was bad; the guy who was accepting money in his companies for corporate loopholes was saying loopholes should be closed, the guy that wanted to talk about foreign policy at the debate barely touched upon the DNC failures. Everyone who looked at the situation analytically knew Obama was going to win, everyone that was claiming landslide was looking at Romney with rose colored glasses.

In short, people just shrugged their shoulders and for a large part GOP voters simply stayed at home and rubbed their signed pictures of Ron Paul for good luck.
That’s no way to win election fellas, and now the DNC is walking around like they own the place because the minorities came out in droves to support them. They think the majority want to see capitalism fail; when it’s really because the entitlement crowd came out to vote while we failed to inspire our side of the argument.
As the fictional Senator Smith once said ‘Well, you all think I’m licked. Well I’m not licked.  I’m going to stay right here and fight for this lost cause, even if this room gets filled with lies like these! When the Taylors and all their armies come marching into this place, somebody’ll listen to me”
That’s right, the conservatives need to hunker down and look themselves in the mirror and start bringing up candidates that can properly defend the American ideal of a smaller government, free markets and a strong defense. They need to bring that argument to the American people again and again and pound it home, and realize that you’ll never do it with candidates like Mitt Romney; you do it with candidates like Ronald Reagan. The American ideal of conservatism can’t be sold and packaged out of a corporate boardroom with slick ads and jingles; it has to explain in simple terms and by giving Americans reasonable explanations and facts.
It’s not about moving to the right or the left, it’s about truth. It means we need to reach out to minorities and not say ‘you are wrong’, it means you say ‘here’s why we are right’. It’s about fighting the good fight with people who believe in the cause of minimal government, not wealthy industrialists who see to increase profits at the expense of ideology.
The Republican Party needs to change; it needs to find itself and the roots of what they believe in. It needs to get off the mantra of appealing to special interests, from the religious right to the boardroom babies. You won’t find that ideology or those persons in the Rockefeller Republicans, it’s got to come from the Goldwater and Reagan crowd. It comes from unifying the party factions from the Federal Bank Paulites to the pro-marijuana Libertarians to the hawkish maverick McCain’s.
Getting back to the roots of conservatism means it hat to start at the bottom, like the liberals did. You have to run for the school boards and local councils before you run for President. Real societal change comes from these places—you can’t hope to win a Republican Presidency if the man in the street has been taught to hate what he stands for. The liberals did not sell their bill of goods with Obama with one election, it was 25 years in the making.
As for me I like lost causes. My hero in Casablanca isn’t Rick, its Victor Lazlo, a man who always does the right thing regardless of circumstance or ideology or consequence. I’m not going to go away, I’m going to get louder, and I’m going to fight harder, even if that eventually means I go to camp for re-indoctrination or put on a train to labor camp.
I will fight as I know how best to—with my heart and mind and conviction, on one simple fact and basic message of conservatism: That government that governs least governs best, and that all power eventually corrupts those that wield it.
I’m not going anywhere; I’m going to get louder. I’m going to fight leftism in the schools, the radio, and the papers. I’ll fight them on the beaches, in the mountains and in the halls of state houses. I’ll fight them with blood, bone and sinew. I’ll fight them until the last breath; the last ounce of strength escapes me, until government silences me by smothering me with the pillow of Obamacare. You want to roll over and just die, be my guest. Not me, I’m not quitting. I refuse to accept that people want to live in a leftist police state; not when I know they merely have been fooled into thinking that government is the fountain of all that is good.
I plan to be the iron bar of conservatism, till death do my part, and only until the rest of this strange and wonderful country starts thinking that way, will things ever change for the better.
Smith had it right-  “And in this world today, full of hatred, a man who knows that one rule has a great trust… you know that you fight for the lost causes harder than for any others. Yes, you even die for them”
So go ahead and make your deals Mr. Boehner. The left can continue to spread its vile lies that government knows best.
I’m not going anywhere. Neither is conservatism. Eventually, somebody’ll listen. Hopefully it won’t be too late by then.
AMEN!
