Today is the 7th Anniversary of this blog. For a long time this year I considered making this one my last because, quite simply, The Stupid Have Inherited the Earth. Intelligence and Common Sense (let alone <gasp> Logic) are Politically Incorrect. Hell, some Leftists have decreed that just saying “politically incorrect” is Politically Incorrect. 😦

So instead I thought I’d revisit one of my favorites from the last 7 years.

This also goes out the #NeverTrump -ers who are so mindlessly obsessed with hating Donald Trump that they are willing Hillary into the White House.

Hate never felt so Right. 🙂

And a special shout out to the Sabotage Republicans (The Establishment ones and their followers) WHO ALSO want Hillary.

2016: Just Like they do with Hillary. The Debate will be set up to show that Trump is grumpy, unstable and mean. The fact that Hillary is a congenital, sociopathica Liar has no bearing on the debates whatsover.

Loretta Lynch assured us that she would act accordingly in whatever action the FBI recommended be taken against Hillary Clinton.

Lucky for her the FBI ruled just as she wanted them to, saving her some awkwardness.

 

That “reassurance” came after it was reported that she had a private meeting with Bill Clinton at an airport last week. She tried to play it off as the two coincidentally running into each-other, when in reality the meeting was planned, and went on for thirty minutes. The general public only knows about it because a local reporter got a tip about the meeting.

Despite Hillary getting off the hook, those involved in the investigation are next in line to feel the heat. The Hill reports:

Attorney General Loretta Lynch will be testifying next week on the federal investigation into Hillary Clinton‘s emails, House Republicans announced Wednesday.

Lynch is slated to testify before the House Judiciary Committee next Tuesday, the panel announced — her second testimony before the panel since becoming the nation’s top law enforcement official last year. Her testimony will come just days after Republicans have FBI Director James Comey testify on Capitol Hill regarding the FBI’s decision.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) said Wednesday that the FBI’s decision not to recommend charges against Clinton “raises serious questions” and is “uniquely troubling in light of Attorney General Lynch’s secret meeting with former President Bill Clinton.”

 

“No one is above the law and the American people need to know that federal law enforcement is taking this misconduct seriously,” Goodlatte said in a statement, saying the hearing would also focus on the Justice Department’s handling of the mass shootings in Orlando, Fla., and San Bernardino, Calif., both of which have links to terrorism.

House Republicans are looking to send a clear message: the Clinton email probe is not over. At least five people have been charged over lesser but similar crimes quite recently. The only difference is that their names aren’t Hillary Clinton.

Even if nothing comes from this, Hillary still has a Donald Trump Presidency to worry about. Trump could appoint an Attorney General who could be able to indict Clinton, if he so pleases. If so, that would make history as the first time Hillary Clinton faced consequences for her actions.

“The president’s conversation with the attorney general was unplanned and was entirely social in nature. But recognizing how others could take another view of it, he agrees with the attorney general that he would not do it again,” a spokesman for the former president told the news network.

“Obviously, no one wants to see any untoward conclusions drawn, and they said they would not do it again,” Hillary Clinton said. I’m sure that’s not the first time she’s heard that from Bill Clinton, either.

“I certainly wouldn’t do it again because I think it has cast this shadow over what it should not, over what it will not touch,” Lynch added on Friday. Notice a theme here? It’s almost like they had — gasp! — coordinated and planned their responses.

Hillary JUST HAPPENED to be on Air Force Once for Obama’s first Campaign stop EVER with her the within days of their meeting and the day after Comey throws himself on his own sword for her.

The Observer spoke to a person who “was on-hand for the entirety of the meeting and some of its aftermath,” and said that the former president had maneuvered the meeting and caught Lynch by surprise.

“According to this source, whose credentials were checked and confirmed by the Observer with sources inside both the FBI and the United States Secret Service, the attorney general was caught completely off guard by the meeting and the source dismisses suggestions that have been raised alleging that she waited there to see Bill Clinton or accommodated his request to see him,” the Observer wrote.

“In fact, it seems from this source that it was Bill Clinton who was maneuvering for face time with the attorney general, because his plane had been scheduled to leave before hers arrived.”

Republicans in Congress are promising the headlines over Hillary Clinton’s email server won’t go away anytime soon. On Wednesday, Republican leaders announced that FBI Director James Comey and Attorney General Loretta Lynch will be testifying on the subject on Capitol Hill over the next two weeks, and additional probes may follow.

Comey will testify in front of the House Oversight Committee on Thursday on the investigation into Clinton’s private email server.

Stall Wars

Why are there no urinals in Ladies Rooms? Are they trans-shaming? I think they are! Can we get to work putting a row of urinals in all women’s bathrooms? Of course every business needs to remodel their bathrooms. It’s not like the days of “White” and “Colored” Bathrooms! It’s 2016.

The Age of Big Brother. Where the Government mandate you allow Men dressed as Women into the Bathroom with no proof whatsoever otherwise you’re a “bigot”. It’s a “Civil Rights Issue” to allow Men dressed as Women into a Women’s Restroom so we can’t have them restricted to just the stalls ( I guess they have them since I’ve never been in one) so we must require then to install urinals and the plumbing to match. 🙂

Oh and we need to rename them also. Men’s and Women’s Bathrooms is discrimination against the New Civil Rights of our Transgendered Media-Darlings.

Some languages, such as English, do not have a gender neutral or third gender pronoun available, and this has been criticized, since in many instances, writers, speakers, etc. use “he/his” when referring to a generic individual in the third person. Also, the dichotomy of “he and she” in English does not leave room for other gender identities, which is a source of frustration to the transgender and gender queer communities.

So English itself is discriminatory and “bigoted” as a language in and of itself according to our fine folks (mind you there is no actual language that isn’t by this criteria).

Maybe we should just scrap it for…I don’t know… INGSOC, maybe . 🙂

How do I ask someone what pronouns they use?

Try asking: “What pronouns do you use?” or “Can you remind me what pronouns you use?” It can feel awkward at first, but it is not half as awkward as getting it wrong or making a hurtful assumption.

Now that’s conversation started right out of Emily Post. 🙂

When someone is referred to with the wrong pronoun, it can make them feel disrespected, invalidated, dismissed, alienated, or dysphoric (profound state of unease or dissatisfaction) (or, often, all of the above.)

I’m dysphoric about the New INGSOC. 🙂

It is a privilege to not have to worry about which pronoun someone is going to use for you based on how they perceive your gender. If you have this privilege, yet fail to respect someone else’s gender identity, it is not only disrespectful and hurtful, but also oppressive. (LGBT Resource Center)

Hard Truth

We all know that American universities have become places of intense psychological indoctrination. We also know that kids often go into college malleable, immature, and oversensitive, and come out even more malleable, immature, and oversensitive. We all read the stories about college kids constantly having conniption fits whenever confronted with words, opinions, and ideas that upset them. Indeed, only on a modern American college campus could you find actual adults unironically demanding “safe spaces” and the like.

I still find self-imposed segregation hilarious though.

But I think there’s a deeper reason for the epidemic of wimpiness in our universities and in my generation as a whole. I think it stems from the idea that we as individuals are supreme, and as the supreme beings in the universe, our feelings and thoughts should be the primary concern of everyone else. In this view of things — the progressive view — I am the greatest, most important, most special creature in all of creation, and everyone and everything else is secondary. It stands to reason that, as a god among mortals, my emotions ought to be the top priority in the world.

Homo Superior Liberalis.

I wrote this to help dispel that notion. There are three hard truths — all centered around this faulty belief — that I attempt to very delicately and diplomatically explain here. But the first and most important is that your feelings aren’t nearly as important as you think. Of all the things a young adult should learn, that might be the most crucial lesson of all:

And I would add when your a Senior Citizen and you’ve “earned it” by still being here after decades that your feelings are STILL not the most important thing on Earth.

Some Liberals never grow up.

As Michael Brandon once said in character on the British Tv show (imagine an American on a British Tv show) Dempsey and Makepeace – “Life is hard, and then you die.”

I’m assured that, on occasion, learning still happens on college campuses.

But the Diversity and Inclusion Police are working overtime to make sure this stops as soon as possible.

I have not detected any evidence of this, but I accept it as a matter of faith. People I trust have assured me that universities are not just bastions of cultish indoctrination — there’s a lot of sex and beer pong, too. But sometimes, I’m informed, a rebellious student might endeavor to adsorb an actual fact or piece of knowledge. Again, I cannot independently confirm this shocking claim.

It would be extraordinary. 🙂

These rogue learners aside, it’s obvious that college is often a place where students go to erase from their minds any trace of truth or common sense. Supplanted in its place is a dreamscape of “white privilege” and “systematic racism” and “non-binary gender” and “patriarchy” and “transgenderism” and leprechauns and climate change and other fictional phenomena. Central to this fantasy world is always me. Not me, specifically, but the Great Me, the Mighty Me, the Universal Me.

Not this Me.

The Almighty Me. Where I am the Center of The Universe and the Universe shall bow down before ME and do what I want them to do.

The primary lesson kids learn in college and in our culture is that they, personally, individually, are primary. Their thoughts, ideas, and (especially) feelings are the most important things in existence, and all of existence ought to bend to their whim. If they feel sad, the world must make them happy. If they say something, the world must listen. If they believe something to be true, the world must play along.

That’s the ticket. Narcissism 101.

We could spend all day talking about the lies kids are taught in college and in society at large, but this, the primacy of their own emotions and beliefs, is the most damaging. I thought, then, it might be a good idea to run down a list of three basic, uncomfortable, common sense truths, for the benefit of these college students (and everyone else). One day I hope to put these in a speech and deliver them at a college graduation ceremony, but I haven’t been invited to do that, so for now I’ll just leave them here:

1. Nobody Cares About Your Feelings

Now, there are some exceptions to this rule. Hopefully your mom cares about your feelings. Maybe your grandmother too, and your therapist as long as you’re paying him. But, despite what you’ve been told, the general population of Earth is not overly concerned with your emotional state.

That’s not to say everyone is cruel and heartless – although many people are, and sometimes they end up as your landlord or your boss — but nobody considers protecting your feelings to be a terribly important project. Nobody wakes up in the morning determined to make sure you feel happy and satisfied. Everyone has a list of priorities in their life, and your feelings are not at the top of anyone’s list. They’re not even at the top of your mother’s list, and if she’s a really good mother she already made that clear to you when you were a child.

Personally, I don’t want you to feel bad and sad and depressed and forlorn, but it is not my job or my priority to prevent you from feeling that way. And if reality, facts, and truth give you a tummy ache, then I will purposefully hurt your feelings, not for the sake of hurting them, but for the sake of forcing the bitter, scary, beautiful, glorious pill of truth down your throat. It will be for your own good. If I could chop the truth up and feed it to you in your applesauce like I do with my kids when they’re sick, I would. But you can’t take a dose of truth that way. When you mix applesauce with truth, you end up with a diluted truth, and a diluted truth is no truth at all.

This is an important point because we live in a society where everyone seems to think their feelings should be the prerogative of everyone they meet. This is especially true on college campuses, where students often insist they be let off the hook from assignments and responsibilities because their academic duties make them feel anxious. College students are not afraid to announce their hurt feelings to the world, as if that fact is somehow relevant to any of us. Of course, your delusion in this regard is understandable, considering how universities have turned hurt feelings into a criminal matter.

It has been proven scientifically that emotions can override reason and logic, so the best way for Liberals to be and to want to make more of themselves is to make you obsessed with your “feelings” and to make everything emotional. It works. Look at the Democrats.

That sort of coddling and pampering leads to stories… where a millennial employee at Yelp posted an open letter to her CEO demanding a raise. She complained about her difficult life as an entry level worker, and said she can’t improve her position because she feels too stressed. This, she was quite sure, should be the concern of her employer. Well, her employer disagreed and fired her instead.

As I learn everyday at work, your boss and their boss, and their boss, etc don’t give a shit what you think. No matter what they say in platitude, they really don’t care. It’s their buisiness and they are going to do it their way, and so are you. Period. End of Discussion.

That’s kind of hilarious to most of us, but terrifying to people who’ve gotten used to getting their way when they cry loudly enough. Children learn this strategy from the moment of birth and many find it successful all the way into their 20s. Eventually, though, the gravy train must come to a halt.

Which is Liberals always sound like whiny 2 year olds. 🙂

These days, we think our feelings entitle us to an infinite smorgasbord of perks and privileges. We think our feelings ought to be the primary driving force of not only our own lives, but the lives of everyone around us. And we think wrong. Indeed, nobody cares about your feelings nearly as much as you do, and you shouldn’t really care about them all that much either. Feelings follow action, so go out and do things, and keep doing them, and over time you’ll discover that your feelings don’t have a stranglehold on your life. Once you figure that out, you’ll stop expecting them to have a stranglehold on everyone else.

But you’ll be a lousy Liberal. 🙂

2. Nobody Has To Take Your Opinions Seriously

Again with the aforementioned exceptions of your mom, your grandmother, and maybe your friends. But probably not all of your friends because most of your friends aren’t actually friends, especially if your friendship has been thus far predicated on a common enthusiasm for not being sober. You may have two or three friends who truly, intimately care about you and your thoughts. Hardly anybody has more real friends than that, and most have fewer or none at all.

As for the rest of us, we don’t care what you think until you give us a reason to care, and even then we don’t care that much. It’s fine if you have opinions, but you can’t expect everyone to stop what they’re doing and take your opinion into account just because you voiced it.

Unless you’re a Democrat or a Liberal,especially one with any power at all. Then you think you’re King Obama or Queen-To-Be Hillary.

This is a really important point because we’re living in a culture where everyone walks around constantly declaring “I have a right to an opinion.” And you do have a right to an opinion, but the problem with that statement is that it doesn’t mean anything. You could be a peasant living in a North Korean slum and you’d still have the right to an opinion, in the sense that nobody could stop you from formulating one (although they might execute you with an anti-aircraft missile if you say it out loud).

You see, when most people say they have a “right to an opinion” what they really mean, in context, is they have a right to have their opinions listened to and respected. But you have no such right, and the unfortunate reality is that, out of the 60 or 70 trillion opinions voiced in America every day, about 99 percent of them are not remotely worthy of attention, much less respect.

It’s that whole “consensus” thing that Liberal groupthink throws around.

If you want your thoughts to be regarded just because they’re your thoughts, talk to your mom, or get married and talk to your spouse. If you want your thoughts to be regarded by total strangers in the general population, you have to develop a reputation as a thoughtful, intelligent person who possesses insight and wisdom. Nobody considers you insightful and wise just because you graduated college. In fact, they probably assume the opposite.

Nowadays, when you tell someone you went to college, they preemptively roll their eyes because they assume you’re about to say something idiotic that will probably include the term ”cisgender” or “heteronormative” or “cultural appropriation” or whatever. There used to be a certain prestige attached to college. Now people look at you like you just escaped a doomsday commune, which isn’t very far from the truth.

You’re going to have to prove that your thoughts are relevant and valuable. Nobody will give you the benefit of the doubt on that front, I’m afraid.

3. It’s Your Fault If You’re Offended

Think of the phrase: “I take offense.” Take. That’s a verb. An action. You have taken offense. You weren’t given it or subjected to it or forced into it, you took it. You sifted through whatever was said, whatever idea or concept you were exposed to, and took offense from it. You didn’t have to. You chose it.

You could have reached into the comment and taken something else: insight, humor, cookies. Well, probably not cookies, but if you dig deeper you might find something other than a reason to be so indignant and insufferable all the time.

But it make YOU feel so good and so Superior. 🙂

Somewhere along the line we started operating under the assumption that it’s the job of the speaker to control the way in which the hearer receives his words. We decided that if the hearer receives them negatively – even if they were not meant negatively, even if it’s merely the hearer’s opinion that the message is negative or insulting — it’s the fault of the speaker. The speaker must now apologize for how you interpreted or processed what he said.

That would be Political Correctness. The Victim is always right. 🙂

Think, for example, of the controversy surrounding the Redskins. Everyone knows that nobody currently associated with the Redskins organization actually intends the name to be some kind of racist jab at Indians. It’s just a name. It’s a word that, in modern times, means only “the name of the professional football team in Washington, D.C.” Nobody uses it in any other context. The intent behind the word is entirely harmless and innocent. But a few people have declared that they find it offensive, and that’s supposed to carry weight with the rest of us. The answer for these offended folks — and for anyone else who takes offense at things that aren’t supposed to be offensive — is simply to stop being offended.

It’s like I have a pet peeve about people eating cream cheese bagels around me. It’s the weirdest thing. I just get annoyed about how people eat bagels. I can’t quite explain it. Maybe I suffered some kind of bagel related trauma as a child, I don’t know. The point is, it’s not your problem that I get annoyed when you eat a bagel in my presence.  It’s a perfectly innocent thing to do. I don’t get to make rules about the food you consume in my vicinity just because I’m a disturbed and insane person. So you go on eating your bagels, and I’ll just have to deal with it. In similar fashion, people will go on using words you might not like, and you’ll just have to deal with it. Your linguistic aversions are not their problem.

Now, obviously there are times when a person intends to offend, but still in those cases it is your decision if you allow the person’s words to cause you grief. People say awful things to me all the time but I choose not to be offended, usually. Here and there I do choose to be offended, especially when some sniveling, anonymous troll responds to my opinions by attacking my children or my wife (which happens approximately 87 times a day, because people are awful, which is another lesson you should learn in a hurry), but I can’t really do anything with the offense I’ve taken.

I just stew in it for a while and then I’m forced to move on with my day. Taking offense accomplished nothing. I’m left just standing there holding it with nowhere to put it. I can try to take my offense to a pawn shop and trade it for a pair of rollerblades, or deposit it in the bank so it can accrue interest over time, but I’ll find that my offense is even more worthless to other people that it is to me. My only choice is to drop it and continue living my life.

I think dropping it and living your life is generally a profitable skill, and not one they teach in college. Then again, they don’t really teach any skills, so that’s not surprising.

There are other hard truths, but we don’t have the space to explain them here. A honorable mentions list would include:

4. Nobody will take you seriously if you try to lecture them about their “privilege.”

5. Nobody will take you seriously if you call yourself a feminist.

6. Nobody will take you seriously if you ever unironically use the phrase “safe space.”

7. Nobody will take you seriously if you ever admit in public that you took a class on “gender theory.”

And I could go on, but I don’t want to overwhelm you. Let’s start with the first three and work from there.

Yes, these are hard truths, but the truth is rarely easy. And that’s probably the hardest and most important truth of all.

You are not the Center of The Universe. You are Not the most important being that is a alive or has ever been alive. Your views on life are not the paramount importance of the Universe and God’s Sake if I hear, “But that not what I want…” I will gladly tell you I don’t care.

Suck it up, Buttercup. No one really cares.

The Stupid Have Inherited The Earth

After 2,323 Blogs that started on August 31st, 2009 I am quitting. I may pick it back up some day.

I just don’t have any passion for this anymore. No one is listening. No One Cares. There is no “dialog” or “debate” anymore.

There’s just your way or the highway.

In 1995 someone ask me to sum my view of America. I said, “Unenlightened Narcissism”.

Now, a whole generation later, its more true now than it was before.

Millenials Love Socialism. They don’t even understand it. But at least it’s not Capitalism. 😦

What has undermined faith in our economic system and the very values needed to sustain it?

Much of the blame goes to crony capitalism, which is when government provides special favors to some people or businesses, and picks winners and losers in the marketplace. Cronyism certainly predates capitalism itself, as past rulers rewarded family and friends for eons. But it’s unfortunate that cronyism remains alive and well in a democratic society that trumpets the values of the free market. From tax breaks to no-bid contracts, crony deals wreak havoc on markets and capitalism both ethically and economically. Crony capitalism creates an uneven playing field and benefits the few over the many. Both Parties are to blame for that. Its how the game has evolved. But it won’t change under Socialism one bit. You’ll trade your “free” security for freedom. And Millenials don’t seem bothered by that at all. Mostly because they don’t know any better. The Socialist in charge of Education for the last several generations were not generous with their “diversity” of knowledge and history.

My cynicism wins.

The Lure

Many people of mature years are amazed at how many young people have voted for Senator Bernie Sanders, and are enthusiastic about the socialism he preaches.

Many of those older people have lived long enough to have seen socialism fail, time and again, in countries around the world. Venezuela, with all its rich oil resources, is currently on the verge of economic collapse, after its heady fling with socialism.

But, most of the young have missed all that, and their dumbed-down education is far more likely to present the inspiring rhetoric of socialism than to present its dismal track record.

Socialism is in fact a wonderful vision — a world of the imagination far better than any place anywhere in the real world, at any time over the thousands of years of recorded history. Even many conservatives would probably prefer to live in such a world, if they thought it was possible.

Who would not want to live in a world where college was free, along with many other things, and where government protected us from the shocks of life and guaranteed our happiness? It would be Disneyland for adults!

Free college of course has an appeal to the young, especially those who have never studied economics. But college cannot possibly be free. It would not be free even if there was no such thing as money.

Consider the costs of just one professor teaching just one course. He or she has probably spent more than 20 years being educated, from kindergarten to the Ph.D., before ending up standing in front of a class and trying to convey some of the knowledge picked up in all those years. That means being fed, clothed and housed all those years, along with other expenses.

All the people who grew the food, manufactured the clothing and built the housing used by this one professor, for at least two decades, had to be compensated for their efforts, or those efforts would not continue. And of course someone has to produce food, clothing and shelter for all the students in this one course, as well as books, computers and other requirements or amenities.

Add up all these costs — and multiply by a hundred or so — and you have a rough idea of what going to college costs. Whether these costs are paid by using money in a capitalist economy or by some other mechanism in a feudal economy, a socialist economy, or whatever, there are heavy costs to pay.

Moreover, under any economic system, those costs are either going to be paid or there are not going to be any colleges. Money is just an artificial device for getting real things done.

Those young people who understand this, whether clearly or vaguely, are not likely to be deterred from wanting socialism. Because what they really want is for somebody else to pay for their decision to go to college.

A market economy is one in which whoever makes a decision is the one who pays for that decision. It forces people to be sure that what they want to do is really worth what it is going to cost.

Even the existing subsidies of college have led many people to go to college who have very little interest in, or benefit from, going to college, except for enjoying the social scene while postponing adult responsibilities for a few years.

Whether judging by test results, by number of hours per week devoted to studying or by on-campus interviews, it is clear that today’s college students learn a lot less than college students once did. If college becomes “free,” even more people can attend college without bothering to become educated and without acquiring re any economically meaningful skills.

More fundamentally, making all sorts of other things “free” means more of those things being wasted as well. Even worse, it means putting more and more of the decisions that shape our lives into the hands of politicians and bureaucrats who control the purse strings.

Obamacare has given us a foretaste of what that means in reality, despite how wonderful it may sound in political rhetoric.

Worst of all, government giveaways polarize society into segments, each trying to get what it wants at somebody else’s expense, creating mutual bitterness that can tear a society apart. Some seem to blithely assume that “the rich” can be taxed to pay for what they want — as if “the rich” don’t see what is coming and take their wealth elsewhere.

In a time where consumers have almost unlimited choices of music, movies, websites and every product you can imagine in the supermarket, socialism is an outdated economic system that no longer fits with the world we live in. Socialism requires the intervention and control of the marketplace by an overwhelmingly powerful centralized government. It penalizes high achievers, rewards laziness and stifles choice.

Socialism is a government regulation that stops you from creating a successful business. It’s the Bureau of Land Management or the EPA making arbitrary decisions about what you can do with your own land. It’s the IRS taking the money you busted your butt to earn and giving it to people who didn’t work as hard as you did.

Almost every socialist policy requires taking resources from someone who’s earned them and giving them to someone who hasn’t. Even programs that are supposed to be self-funding rarely are because the juice is never quite worth the squeeze. The real reason we’re so deeply in debt is because if the middle class was forced to choose between paying for what our government is spending or dramatically cutting back, our government would already be much smaller than it is – and no wonder.

What does our government do well anymore? Do you trust the IRS? FEMA? Are our borders secure? How does the customer service of the post office or DMV compare to, let’s say Apple or Amazon? Who wants to live in government housing? Who wants a minimum wage job? Who wants to answer to bureaucrats, jump through their hoops and do as he’s told by people who see him as a nameless, faceless slob dependent upon them for his livelihood?

This is what socialism offers.

This is the Democrats.

Socialism will take something from someone else who earned it and give it to you and in return, you will do what socialists want you to do. If you’re irresponsible, lazy, have a habit of making poor decisions or just need a master, this can seem like a good deal. You can work a menial job and get paid more than you’re worth! You can go to college and you don’t have to pay for it! Someone else will give you a place to live, food stamps, welfare and health care! In return, you just have to give up on your pride, your dreams and control of your own life.

People who can take care of themselves don’t need socialism and most of those who have difficulty taking care of themselves would still be better off under a more capitalistic system. The more capitalistic an economy is, the faster it grows. The faster an economy grows, the more jobs and wealth are created.

Eighty percent of humanity lives on less than $10 a day. Meanwhile, 96% of the poor in America have televisions, 93% have microwaves and 81% have cell phones. Ultimately, it’s the economic growth produced by capitalistic policies that has allowed America’s poor to do so well compared to the poor in more socialistic nations. Paradoxically, the more we move towards socialism in the name of “helping” the poor, the less poor Americans will ultimately have. That’s because the more regulations, the more taxes and the more GOVERNMENT a country has, the slower its economy grows.

Socialism requires a gargantuan government so it can confiscate property, control behavior and manage an always growing list of programs to achieve “fairness.” Unfortunately, “fairness” is a will-o’-the-wisp that can never be caught because human beings have different levels of talent, skill and effort.

The factory worker who spent 30 years working his way through the ranks to become regional sales manager should make more than the new guy who just started yesterday. The man who spent 10 years building his own successful business should make more money than his employees. The man who invested every extra dime he had and does well should make more money than the fellow who used all his extra money to buy a bigger car and nicer furniture for his house. Socialists say, “Not so fast. Maybe those guys should make more money, but they’re making too much money. We should control how much they make. We should decide how much of their money they get to keep. We should control how much of their money is given away and to whom.”

 

On the other hand, capitalism is freedom. Capitalism says you should do what you want to do with your own time and either suffer the consequences or reap the rewards. Sure, we might all cooperate to create a military and a police force along with building sewage systems, roads, street lights and stop signs and a few other necessities, but beyond that, let everyone rise and fall as he deserves.

If you want to get a four year degree in women’s studies at an Ivy League university? Great, pay for it yourself. You want to live cheaply and work a second job so you can save up money? You should be able to do that and someone else shouldn’t get the benefits from your hard work. If you want to spend your twenties as a beach bum, surfing all day and sleeping in a tent at night, you can do that, but no one else should be asked to help pay for your lifestyle.

Having real freedom means you get to make real choices and when that happens, some of those choices will work out better than others. The only way to change that is to build a massive government apparatus that makes everyone poorer in return for reducing the amount of natural inequality that will happen when people are allowed to pursue their wildly differing hopes and dreams.

Capitalism is not perfect, but it won’t bankrupt the country, it doesn’t reward failure and it can’t control you like socialism. To the contrary, in a capitalist system, businesses benefit from voluntary transactions. Do you want to get rich in a capitalist system? Find a way to give people what they want. If you’re just okay at it, you can make a decent salary. If you’re as good at it as Henry Ford or Bill Gates, you can become rich beyond imagination.

Do you want to get rich in a socialist system? Be well connected. Make friends or just pay off people who can give you government contracts. Make contributions to politicians so they’ll change the laws to help you and hurt your competitors. Get the government to take money from other people and give it to you as part of a bailout.

Which sounds more admirable? Which sounds healthier for our country? When you give the government unlimited power to create “equality,” you also give it the power to tilt the playing field towards corrupt businesses that have every incentive to try to take advantage of it.

At the end of the day, socialism is for slaves who are willing to give up their freedom for promises that they’ll be given some minimal level of support no matter what. On the other hand, capitalism is for people who want the freedom to rise or fall based on their own effort. If you know which type of person you are, then you know whether you should be a capitalist or a socialist.

The Death Trolls

The Liberals had quite a party this weekend. The Death Trolls were partying like it was 1922 and the Communist Revolution.

So has Obama appointed Loretta Lynch yet? She properly Black -Not an evil Uncle Tom Conservative (Doubleplusgood), She’s a Woman, and a Left Ideologue who will stay the Partisan course no matter what the nasty, old, white guy Constitution says…

Retirement is one thing. Death is quite another. Antonin Scalia leaves behind a wife, children, grand children, friends, and other family. Life is something we should all be respectful of, even when we disagree with the politics of the person.

But plenty of people who politicize everything disagree. It is the measure of how miserable a person’s life is that they would politicize the death of someone who served his country with distinction because they disagree with him.

Not everything is political. Death will come to us all. Therefore, we should work hard to not make death a political issue, even if it is the death of one we disagree with. We then only incentivize others dancing on our own graves when that day comes. We will not all become Supreme Court justices. We will not all become someone of note. We will not all merit even a Wikipedia entry. But we all will die. So show some class.

Covet thy Neighbor’s Stuff

Envy is defined by Dictionary.com as “a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another’s advantages, success, possessions, etc.” That perfectly characterizes the entire political philosophy of the Democratic progressive left.

That and their holier-than-thou superiority. Their absolute contempt for anyone’s opinion that may differ from theirs.

“Stephen Colbert was so good he made Republicans think he was a Republican” was heard last night by me.

Sorry, he’s a comedian. I never took him or Jon Stewart seriously. It’s like taking Rachael Maddow seriously. As if… 🙂

Listening to presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, I often hear the principles I grew up with and practiced being disregarded, even denounced.

Well, they have trained several generations well in the ay of The Dark Side.

To them we, the Conservative/Non-Liberal ARE The Dark Side. 🙂

In his victory speech following his New Hampshire primary win, Sanders said America was founded on the principle of fairness.

No, actually, it was founded on FREEDOM. Not the same concept. But they have trained their young padawans to think Fairness is Freedom, when in fact it is not. The government that gets to decided what is fair and what is not is not Free.

No it wasn’t. You don’t find the word “fairness” in the Declaration of Independence, or the Constitution. The word you do find is “liberty.” The Founders wanted Americans to be liberated from oppressive, intrusive, dictatorial government and to be free to pursue happiness, according to their definition of the word.

To be free of The Bernie Sanders, Obamas, Pelosis, Sharptons,Clintons of the Day.

Sanders and Clinton aren’t channeling the Founders, they’re channeling Robin Hood.

Or least a version of it. But the Sheriff of Nottingham and his loyalists as “Robin Hood” is the perfect Orwellian take on it though. 🙂

They want to take from people who have sacrificed, invested, risked and worked hard and give the fruits of their labors to others who have not embraced those noble practices.

Listening to some of the younger people who are enthralled by Sanders’ philosophy suggests that they have been brainwashed by their public school teachers and college professors. Maybe we should increase the voting age to 30 when they might be expected to have achieved some modicum of success and will resent having their paychecks gutted by dysfunctional government.

You assume that they will understand. But since Logic and reason are not hallmarks of Liberals…

The late football coach Vince Lombardi once said, “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”

But that’s so unfair! Not to mention White Privilege. 🙂

Do you hear anything like that coming from the mouths of Sanders or Clinton? Where is the rhetoric I heard as a child such as “you can do this,” “apply yourself,” “persistence ensures success”?

Gone like a fart wind.

Today, it is all about envying what others have. In biblical terms it is covetousness, a violation of the Tenth Commandment. Covetousness is destructive, not to the person who is its object, but to the person doing the coveting.

But they vote for Democrats, so The Democrats love it. 🙂

Does someone who envies, or covets, improve his station in life?

No. But they “feel” better about it. It’s someone elses fault other than theirs. It’s “the other guy”.

Why won’t Sanders and Clinton speak of the virtues of hard work and making the right decisions so people can fend for themselves and their families?

Because then they wouldn’t be dependent on THEM. It’s all about dependency, slavery and lack of freedom with Democrats all rapped in  an envious, hate-filled, but Holier than thou, “feeling”. Logic and reason are on permanent holiday.

Instead we get speeches attacking millionaires and billionaires, as if they have cornered the market on wealth, leaving none behind for anyone else.

That’s the Meme. Of course, it’s being delivered by Millionaires. 🙂

What a CEO or Wall Street banker earns has nothing to do with what I make, or could make, if I choose the right path. The right path means staying in school, getting married before having children and taking reasonable risks to improve one’s life, such as moving from a town where it is difficult to get a job or advance in one, to a place where there are better prospects.

But that’s so UNFAIR. You mean I have to work for it. I have to fail. No, I don’t wanna! 🙂

Bernie Sanders is now trying to attract African-American voters by promising them more jobs, more government programs, more stuff.

So nothing has changed their in 50 years.

He’s also courting civil rights power broker Rev. Al Sharpton in hopes that he can help steer minority voters his way in exchange for access to the White House, but consider this quote from one of the great African-American leaders of the past, Booker T. Washington: “Nothing ever comes to one, that is worth having, except as a result of hard work.”

The Problem is that he’s running against one of the Most corrupt people in history, Hillary Rodham Clinton. How else does he destroy her New Hampshire but she gets more Primary Delegates than he does.

That such noble sentiments have largely disappeared from our culture and been replaced by envy, greed and entitlement, explains why our national debt soars, why so many find themselves in financial difficulty, or think they do, because that’s what the left has told them.

10) Conservatives believe that individual Americans have a right to defend themselves and their families with guns and that right cannot be taken away by any method short of a Constitutional Amendment, which conservatives would oppose. Liberals believe by taking arms away from law abiding citizens, they can prevent criminals, who aren’t going to abide by gun control laws, from using guns in the commission of crimes.

9) Conservatives believe that we should live in a color blind society where every individual is judged on the content of his character and the merits of his actions. On the other hand, liberals believe that it’s ok to discriminate based on race as long as it primarily benefits minority groups.

8) Conservatives are capitalists and believe that entrepreneurs who amass great wealth through their own efforts are good for the country and shouldn’t be punished for being successful. Liberals are socialists who view successful business owners as people who cheated the system somehow or got lucky. That’s why they don’t respect high achievers and see them as little more than piggy banks for their programs.
7) Conservatives believe that abortion ends the life of an innocent child and since we believe that infanticide is wrong, we oppose abortion. Most liberals, despite what they’ll tell you, believe that abortion ends the life of an innocent child, but they prefer killing the baby to inconveniencing the mother.6) Conservatives believe in confronting and defeating enemies of the United States before they can harm American citizens. Liberals believe in using law enforcement measures to deal with terrorism, which means that they feel we should allow terrorists to train, plan, and actually attempt to kill Americans before we try to arrest them — as if you can just send the police around to pick up a terrorist mastermind hiding in Iran or the wilds of Pakistan.

5) Conservatives, but not necessarily Republicans (which is unfortunate), believe it’s vitally important to the future of the country to reduce the size of government, keep taxes low, balance the budget, and get this country out of debt. Liberals, and Democrats for that matter, believe in big government, high taxes, and they have never met a new spending program they didn’t like, whether we will have to go into debt to pay for it or not.

4) Conservatives believe that government, by its very nature, tends to be inefficient, incompetent, wasteful, and power hungry. That’s why we believe that the government that governs least, governs best. Liberals think that the solution to every problem is another government program. Even when those new programs create new problems, often worse than the ones that were being fixed in the first place, the solution is always….you guessed it, another government program.
3) Conservatives are patriotic, believe that America is a great nation, and are primarily interested in looking out for the good of the country. That’s why we believe in “American exceptionalism” and “America first.” Liberals are internationalists who are more concerned about what Europeans think of us and staying in the good graces of the corrupt bureaucrats who control the UN than looking out for the best interests of this nation.2) Conservatives, most of them anyway, believe in God and think that the Constitution has been twisted by liberal judges to illegitimately try to purge Christianity from the public square. We also believe, most of us anyway, that this country has been successful in large part because it is a good, Christian nation and if our country ever turns away from the Lord, it will cease to prosper. Liberals, most of them anyway, are hostile to Christianity. That’s why, whether you’re talking about a school play at Christmas time, a judge putting the Ten Commandments on the wall of his court, or a store employee saying “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays,” liberals are dedicated to driving reminders of Christianity from polite society.

1) Conservatives believe in pursuing policies because they’re pragmatic and because they work. Liberals believe in pursuing policies because they’re “nice” and make them feel good. Whether the policies they’re advocating actually work or not is of secondary importance to them.

Psychologist and TV personality Dr. Phil McGraw appeared on The Kelly File Thursday night to discuss the need to “stop rewarding bad behavior in America” for fear of continuing to promote a culture of entitlement and narcissism prevalent in recent generations.

“We do have a generation that, I think, we have raised with a great degree of entitlement where it’s like, the world owes me a living,” said Dr. Phil.

He brought up as an example a man aspiring to be a rock star at the age of 40, using all of his family’s money – even their savings and retirement funds – to buy fame as opposed to actually going out and working for it.

“He’s got the poses. He’s got the haircut, everything. But so entitled, won’t take a job because it’s not a rock star job,” Dr. Phil explained.

“People sometimes ask me what’s wrong with America,” he said. “This is the greatest country in the world with the greatest people in the world. But sometimes, we forget commonsense – the simple things we need to remember. Like, basically, you just don’t reward bad behavior.”

“We’ve got to stop rewarding bad behavior in America,” Dr. Phil went on. “When people don’t work and produce, then they need to be kicked to the curb, get a damn job, carry your own weight. It’s just that simple.”

Students at Gonzaga University say they were told that an upcoming lecture by a conservative speaker will not be open to the public because he is “homophobic” and “anti-immigration.”

“I was told that the reason that his speech is not allowed to be open to the public is because … Dinesh D’Souza’s beliefs are contradictory to Gonzaga’s ‘social justice’ mission and they do not want the public to question why the school brought him in,” Ben DuBois of the Gonzaga chapter of Young Americans for Freedom told YAF on Monday.

Gonzaga’s Mission Statement:

Central to the Jesuit, Catholic, and humanistic mission of Gonzaga University is a deep-seated commitment to issues and practices of social justice and becoming persons for others. A minor in Solidarity and Social Justice gives students the opportunity to enact these values.

The introductory, elective, and capstone courses are purposefully designed to “educate students for lives of leadership and service for the common good” and “foster a mature commitment to dignity of the human person, social justice, diversity, intercultural competence, global engagement, solidarity with the poor and vulnerable, and care for the planet.” 

In addition, these courses teach students to employ key themes of Catholic social teaching in their analysis of justice issues. Among these themes are the fundamental right to life, the right to participate and to work, and the principle of subsidiarity.

The SOSJ curriculum is designed to expose students to various humanistic skills and habits of mind and heart. For example, students engage in ethical reasoning in philosophical/theological elective courses. They evaluate information, perform critical analysis, and solve problems in social science elective courses. “For example, he is ‘homophobic’ and ‘anti-immigration’,” DuBois said he was informed by Director of Student Involvement Colleen Vandenboom, adding that she also told him that in the course of researching D’Souza, the administrators had deemed him “a ‘nasty guy’ who is ‘way out there’ and has been ‘caught in many lies in his past.’”

DuBois says he asked to speak directly with the administrators behind the decision—the Dean of Students, Director of Campus Security and Public Safety Scott Snider, and Director of Community and Public Relations Mary Joan Hahn—but that the request was denied.

He also noted that a number of previous events featuring “blatantly liberal subject matter” have been open to the public, including a “Dream Week” in support of illegal immigrant students, lectures on Islamophobia and xenophobia, a pro-Palestinian play, and International Day of Tolerance Celebrations.

The Agenda is The Agenda. Freedom Liberal Speech is paramount. All must hear it.

“It’s pretty clear that only conservatives are closed to the public,” he remarked, adding that when he brought the apparent inconsistency to administrators’ attention, they could only provide one counter-example of a conservative event that was open to the public, and even that took place several years ago.

The Narrative is The Narrative. The Truth is irrelevant.

Gonzaga, however, disputed portions of DuBois’ account in a statement to Campus Reform, confirming that the February 24 event will only be open to students, faculty, and staff, but maintaining that the decision was made in the interest of maintaining decorum on campus, and was fully consistent with past precedent for similar events. The university did not address, either to confirm or deny, any of DuBois’ specific claims regarding the administrators’ personal feelings about D’Souza.

Yeah, we don’t Conservatives to be seen to be popular now do we. They are the Enemy of The University establishment.

Vandenboom explained that while “we want to promote discussion and learning,” they wish to do so “in a supportive learning environment,” (Aka PC) and that the controversy surrounding D’Souza’s appearance suggested to them that it would be unwise to open the event to the public.

The controversy being that he’s not Politically Correct and he might confuse the tiny minds of Liberals with reality and truth.

“We’ve heard from those who advocate Mr. D’Souza’s visit with the College Republicans be open to everyone, and we’ve heard from those who believe he should not be allowed on campus,” Vandenboom said. “We believe this approach where members of the University community can hear Mr. D’Souza, ask him questions and have an open dialogue in a supportive setting strikes the right balance—particularly for students.”

We want to sound fair in our censorship. When we invite the next radical Leftist and the people who think he “should not be allowed” object we’ll call them racists, homophobes and tell to shut the hell up. 🙂

Campus Reform was unable to reach DuBois for comment on the university’s response.

Sweating The Small Stuff

When a nation is beset by problems too big or too difficult to solve, it tends to obsess over trivia. Are “Berniebros” sexist for preferring Bernie Sanders to Hillary Clinton? Does Adele’s “Hello” promote sexual harassment? Are wealthy, privileged black liberals being given enough Oscars by wealthy, privileged white liberals?

“Safe Spaces”, microagressions, white privilege, Political Correctness gone truly insane.

Meanwhile, when was the last time America decisively WON a war and achieved all of our objectives?  If we don’t count small excursions like Grenada, that would be WWII. We may have the best military in the world, but our ridiculous rules of engagement and meddling politicians have become more of a problem for our troops than the enemy.

Additionally, the rule of law no longer exists in America in a meaningful way.  Well-connected Democrats like Hillary Clinton can break the law with impunity while Republicans like Scott Walker and Rick Perry have to face politically motivated prosecutions. Meanwhile, our government openly encourages illegal aliens to laugh at our laws while liberal judges ignore the Constitution and base every ruling solely on their ideology. Justice is supposed to be blind, not just politics by another means.

 

Fifteen years after 9/11, our borders are still wide open and we don’t have an effective system of tracking people who overstay their VISAs. Even as our economy becomes ever more centered on educated workers, we’re welcoming in massive numbers of immigrants, both legal and illegal who are uneducated. Approximately half of them end up on government assistance paid for by Americans who are laughed at when they question whether unlimited amounts of illegal immigration help our country.

We keep hearing how wonderful our economy is supposed to be these days, but only 63% of Americans have a job or are looking for one. That’s the lowest percentage since 1978. Not only does our government not have any intention of paying off a dime of our debt, any and all serious attempts to cut into our massive deficit are met with howls of outrage. This is despite the fact that our growing debt has the potential to cause an economic collapse in the next decade or two that would likely lead to a Depression and the end of Social Security and Medicare in their current forms.

Christians are portrayed as serial killers, wackos and hypocrites in Hollywood; they’re mocked by the mainstream media; the military has become overtly hostile to Christianity and we’ve now gotten to the point where liberals are trying to make it illegal for Christian businesses to oppose gay marriage or for Christian hospitals to refuse to participate in abortions. Meanwhile, we’re the world’s largest consumer of illegal drugs and we’ve murdered 4-5 Holocausts’ worth of innocent children since Roe v. Wade while 4 out of 10 children are born out of wedlock. We’ve become a “if it feels good, do it” society where the only sin is pointing out when someone’s sinning.

In liberal-run cities like Detroit, the number of kids who aren’t proficient in math or reading tops 90% and nothing of significance is being done about it. Terrorists and communists are openly welcomed as professors at our universities where economic policies that should have died with the Soviet Union are widely promoted. The education of our children has become secondary to propping up teachers unions that have been failing our kids for decades.

Merit has been tossed to the side in politics and we’re now told that it’s perfectly acceptable to vote for unworthy candidates for political office as long as they’re the right race or gender. No matter what their race, gender or political party happens to be, our politicians have become hopelessly corrupt and out-of-touch. Our politicians are more crooked than the mob and less competent than the French military in WWII. Perhaps that’s not a surprise given that any random handful of rich donors has more influence on our politicians than tens of millions of voters while our government seems incapable of handling the basic tasks.

 

Like coddled trust fund babies, Americans today are living on the economic, cultural and militaristic accomplishments of previous generations. They made the ruthless decisions we no longer have the guts to make in order to win wars. They created the Constitution, morals and codes of conduct that served our nation well for so long that we now ignore. They built the roots of a thriving capitalistic system so strong that we’ve come to believe that there’s no amount of socialistic sabotage it can’t endure.  

We are a decadent nation in deep decline that’s content with the status quo because we’re borrowing so much money that it hasn’t gotten uncomfortable yet. Our politicians, our culture and most Americans don’t seem to understand that our country is a ship with a hole in the bottom, an airplane with no landing gear, a car with no brakes. Until they understand the severity of the situation, we will continue to be a nation obsessed with what’s on TV while our country burns to the ground around us. There’s nothing sadder than watching the country that you love ignore neon signs a thousand feet high warning them of oncoming disaster as they stumble through a minefield, blissfully unaware that they’re steps from disaster. Sadly, that’s where we are today as a nation.

Whether we like it or not, Reagan was right when he said that freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction and he was right when he said this, too.

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done. (John Hawkins)

College Exploration of Learning?

Victor Davis Hanson:What do campus microaggressions, safe spaces, trigger warnings, speech codes and censorship have to do with higher learning?

American universities want it both ways. They expect unquestioned subsidized support from the public, but also to operate in a way impossible for anyone else.

Colleges still wear the ancient clothes of higher learning. Latin mottos, caps and gowns, ivy-covered spires and high talk of liberal education reflect a hallowed intellectual tradition.

In fact, today’s campuses mimic ideological boot camps. Tenured professors seek to indoctrinate young people in certain preconceived progressive political agendas. Environmental studies classes are not very open to debating the “settled science” of man-caused, carbon-induced global warming — or the need for immediate and massive government intervention to address it. Grade-conscious and indebted students make the necessary ideological adjustments.

It’s their way or the highway. It’s not like Liberals are tolerant of people disagreeing with them. 🙂 Diversity is Progressive. 🙂

Few sociological courses celebrate the uniquely American assimilationist melting pot. Race, class and gender agenda courses — along with thousands of “studies” courses — have been invented. A generation of politicized professors has made the strange argument that they alone have discovered all sorts of critical new disciplines of knowledge — apparently unknown for 2,500 years — to ensure that graduates would be better educated than ever before.

Universities have lost their commitment to the inductive method. Preconceived anti-Enlightenment theories are established as settled fact and part of career promotion. Evidence is made to fit these unquestioned assumptions.

A former student government leader at American University is disdainful of a student group’s decision to host Karl Rove, arguing that conservative views are anathema to the school.

“AU is a very liberal-leaning community,” William McNamara writes in an op-ed for The Rival, a student publication unaffiliated with the university. “Which begs the important question many are asking which is, why is KPU bringing a speaker that the majority of the campus doesn’t care for?”

“I am fucking sick of my student activity fee going to individuals, ideologies, and organizations that neither I, nor a majority of student organizations support,” said SIS student and notable KPU malcontent Bill Kakenmaster. “Karl Rove may well be sought after, but to call him a political ‘brain’ is to discredit valid political intellectualism.”

A professor from Temple University,the professor said sex markers are “poor proxies” because “maleness and femaleness” are characteristics we share with many other people.

“heterosexist in assumption” and something which seemed “like a relic from another time…nonsensical,” saying it “has been discontinued, thankfully.”

He cited the labeling of mother and father as “harmful” because these parents don’t “self-identify” that way and “some transgender men can bear children.”

While the talk had approximately 50 student, faculty, and Charlottesville residents in attendance, some students came to the event to fulfill a requirement imposed by the University of Virginia’s Intro to Gender and Sexuality class. Campus Reform also spotted an attendance sheet, on which six students of the Anthropology department’s Language and Gender course had written their names. (Campus Reform)

Two unfortunate results have predictably followed.

Students now leave campus largely prepped by their professors to embrace a predictable menu: the glories of larger government, income redistribution, greater entitlements, radical environmentalism, abortion, multiculturalism, suspicion of traditional religion, and antipathy to the international role of the United States in the past and present.

Unfortunately, this costly indoctrination comes at the expense of what is increasingly less taught: traditional mastery of foreign languages, great works of literature, philosophy, history, mastery of grammar and composition, and the Socratic method.

Careerism often drives campus politics. If poor, minority or first-generation college students could obtain the traditional tools of success — English and mathematic literacy, acquaintance with American history and protocols, oral and written language mastery — they would succeed as individuals without need for the college industry of collective victimology that assumes a permanent lack of parity.

Employers and the adult world no longer equate a bachelor’s degree with proof of a well-rounded education. Yet chastised universities usually oppose any objective measurement of their effectiveness. They certainly want federally insured student loans, but they do not want proof of their competency through national exit tests, which might help ensure that all graduates leave college able to compute, read and write well. How odd that standardized tests are permissible to judge entering students but not to certify exiting ones.

Colleges are schizophrenic in lots of other ways. They claim they are special institutions that should be free to form their own curricula, enjoy ancient rites such as faculty tenure, not worry much how much they charge students or treat part-time faculty, and establish radical new legal protocols that run contrary to the Constitution.

When colleges create “safe spaces” designated by race and gender, they butt up against U.S. law. Assuming the guilt rather than innocence of students accused of bad behavior does not stand up in court.

Most Americans who work in a mall or shop are not awarded lifelong guaranteed employment. Nor are our newspapers censored with “trigger warnings” in fear that readers might become hurt by depressing news stories.

Universities ask the public to subsidize these strange rituals by making endowments tax-exempt. The government extends federally guaranteed loans and ensures write-offs for charitable giving.

 

In the past, there was a clear bargain. The university said, “Leave us alone to do our business that we know best, and we promise to turn out the best-educated and most inductive generation of American youth.”

Universities are now breaking their word. Students, if they even graduate (about four in 10 do not, even after six years), are not “universally” educated. Instead, they are the least prepared yet most politicized graduates in memory. Arrogance and ignorance are a bad combination.

But make excellent Democrats. 🙂

If the university cannot fulfill its original compact of broadly educating youth while keeping within bounds of American laws and protocols, then it will either have to change or slowly become irrelevant.

The market is already sensing a void — and thus opportunity. Online degree programs proliferate. Private vocational and trade schools sprout up around college campuses. Even Ivy League degrees have become mostly empty brand names, like Gucci or Versace, that convey status and open doors but hardly guarantee that graduates are knowledgeable or inductive thinkers.

All of these growing alternatives to borrowing a collective $1 trillion for university education reflect that it may not only be a bad deal, but a rigged one as well.

Liberals hate Holidays

Bruce Vento Elementary School, in St. Paul, has decided to stop celebrating Valentine’s Day along with other “dominant holidays” including These include Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Valentine’s Day.

White People Bad.

Christians Bad.

Bruce Vento Elementary is roughly 63% Asian American, 24% African American, 10% Hispanic American and 4% Caucasian American.

So in this case the Liberals are for the Majority (Majority Rules!) and they want to discriminate against the Minority! 🙂

“My personal feeling is we need to find a way to honor and engage in holidays that are inclusive of our student population,” Principal Scott Masini wrote in a letter to parents.

Yeah, AMERICAN HOLIDAYS in AMERICA for AMERICANS is racist and non-inclusive! 🙂

Masini, who has served as the principal since 2013, was concerned that the celebrations may be ‘encroaching on the educational opportunities of others and threatening the culture of tolerance and respect for all’. 

Except the minorities at his school that is. 🙂

The Star-Tribune reports the letter was surfaced on a private Facebook page titled, “Supporting St. Paul Students and Teachers.”

“I have come to the difficult decision to discontinue the celebration of the dominant holidays until we can come to a better understanding of how the dominant view will suppress someone else’s view,” the principal noted.

The Star-Tribune reports Masini made the decision to can the holidays in consultation with his staff.

“One of the concerns that I have,” he wrote, “…is whether or not this practice is encroaching on the educational opportunities of others and threatening the culture of tolerance and respect for all.”

In support, one commenter said she believes Masini and his staff are “being sensitive to children at their school who do not practice these holidays due to religious beliefs. … Holidays are very personal. Every family has a different take on how they celebrate or do not celebrate them.”

The school district in Malden, Mass., the second most diverse school system in that state, dumped Valentine’s Day three years ago, opting to observe “Friendship Day” instead. That’s something that won’t cost you a dime.

Well, it is so Hetero and capitalistic, it must be evil.

The holiday hullabaloo has generated plenty of outrage across the Twin Cities. Get a load of some of the local headlines:

Even the folks at Minnesota Public Radio got riled up – and they’re not exactly a bastion of conservative thought.

“A St. Paul school is putting a stake in the very heart of Valentine’s Day,” Bob Collins wrote. 

The principal told me via email that it was “truly not a story” – and then referred me to the district for further clarification.

Saint Paul Public Schools released a statement to the Star-Tribune that certainly seemed to defend the principal’s ban on heart-shaped candies.

“Because Saint Paul Public Schools is a diverse district that is filled with families from around the world we strive to respect all cultures and all students,” they wrote. “We recognize that not every student celebrates or participates in some or all holidays. We have a board policy that discourages programs and festivities that celebrate observances unless they are required by law.”

It sounds to me like the St. Paul area is infected with a case of ethnic sensitivity – a diagnosis confirmed by the district spokesperson.

Aka White People and White People things are bad!

She explained to me that their schools include many, many cultures – students from around the world – including a very large Somali population.

That’s all well and good, but the children live in America now. They are presumably Americans. As such they and their families should be acclimating to the American way of life.

They no longer live in Somalia. They live in the United States. And in the United States we celebrate St. Valentine’s Day and Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Of course, there could be another reason behind the holiday ban.

Perhaps no one wanted to be Principal Masini’s Valentine. Or maybe Santa Claus left a lump of coal in his Christmas stocking? Or maybe, just maybe, he got the short end of the wishbone? (Todd Starnes and UK Daily Mail)

Eating is Racist, Seriously…

Looks like the next time you’re really craving Chinese you’re going to get a side order of ‘racist’ from the far-left.

Insanely left-wing website “Everyday Feminism” has written a guide titled “Being a Foodie Without Being Culturally Appropriative”.

From Everyday Feminism:

Cultural appropriation is when members of a dominant culture adopt parts of another culture from people that they’ve also systematically oppressed. The dominant culture can try the food and love the food without ever having to experience oppression because of their consumption.

With food, it isn’t just eating food from someone else’s culture. It might not be appropriation if you’re White and you love eating dumplings and hand pulled noodles. Enjoying food from another culture is perfectly fine.

But, food is appropriated when people from the dominant culture – in the case of the US, white folks – start to fetishize or commercialize it, and when they hoard access to that particular food.

It’s also harmful when the dominant culture controls the economic and material resources to produce that food for their own consumption and profit.

So it’s capitalism that’s evil as well. Gee, never saw that coming… 🙂

While food from Western Europe is still connected to ethnic roots, ethnic food has become reserved only for ethnicities that are perceived as exotic and foreign to White folks.

This is where her Social Justice Warrior seeing racism everywhere overpowered the dish like too much salt or garlic.

For example, what is now Vietnam had been occupied by China for a thousand years and then colonized by France. This period of colonization is also what led to things like banh mi (sandwiches) and banh ex (crepes). The use of spam in different parts of Asia and the Pacific Islands, like spam musabi or spam in hot pot, are a direct result of US colonization.

If you love a dish and think it’s delicious, great! If you’re searching for a place that serves a particular dish, also great!

However, seeking “authenticity” fetishizes the sustenance of another culture. The idea of the “authentic” food experience is separated from reality. It also freezes a culture in a particular place in time.

What hilarious is that ANOTHER group of Social Justice Warriors were wanting people fired for NOT serving a Banh Mi on the traditional French Bread and called THAT “cultural appropriation”.

So even the Social Justice Warriors think each other positions are a “cultural misappropriation”.

Oberlin College: The traditional Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwich that Stevenson Dining Hall promised turned out to be a cheap imitation of the East Asian dish. Instead of a crispy baguette with grilled pork, pate, pickled vegetables and fresh herbs, the sandwich used ciabatta bread, pulled pork and coleslaw.

“It was ridiculous,” Nguyen said. “How could they just throw out something completely different and label it as another country’s traditional food?”

Nguyen added that Bon Appétit, the food service management company contracted by Oberlin College, has a history of blurring the line between culinary diversity and cultural appropriation by modifying the recipes without respect for certain Asian countries’ cuisines. This uninformed representation of cultural dishes has been noted by a multitude of students, many of who have expressed concern over the gross manipulation of traditional recipes.

So she’s “cultural misappropriating” her own “cultural misappropriations”. 🙂

Food culture gets re-colonized by chefs seeking to make that “authentic” street food they tried more elegant. Often, these restaurants are inaccessible to the communities they’re appropriating from.

Quinoa, which is native to Bolivia is now too expensive for communities there. Last year, Whole Foods declared collard greens the “new kale.” Coconuts have now been packaged as high end, luxury water. Tofu, soy, and tempeh are now staples at organic, healthy food markets.

It’s all white, rich people’s fault that Quinoa is one of the few complete grains on the planet.

Essentially, the health food craze is racist and oppressive. 🙂  (but only to White People…and she’s not a “racist” for that either 🙂 )

This is food gentrification, where communities can no longer afford their own cuisines and sustain their traditions.

That’s how messed up in the head these people are.

So, if you wish to broaden your horizons and become open to other ethnicities through their unique food in the form of appreciation or celebration, you will be condemned as exploitative (if you’re part of that “white folk” group anyway). Presumably, the left would like “white folk” to eat only “white folk” food.

We managed to stomach up the will-power to go through the ‘guide’ so you don’t have to. (I did though) Hat tip to Daily Wire.

It begins by saying, “Mainstream media has made a spectacle out of foods from seemingly exotic places. I’ve also observed a lot of White chefs create “Asian-inspired” dishes. When going out to eat, I notice many “Asian-fusion” themed restaurants where chefs combine all the countries and flavors in the vast and diverse continent of Asia and throw them together on both plate and menu.”

Sounds like the embodiment of tossed salad multiculturalism. Does the left have a problem with that all of a sudden?

The writer, Rachel Kuo, continues a few paragraphs down, “It’s frustrating when my culture gets consumed and appropriated as both trend and tourism.”

She rambles on, “When it comes to food, what’s appropriation and what’s not can be tricky to think about. Cultural appropriation is when members of a dominant culture adopt parts of another culture from people that they’ve also systematically oppressed. So, you got all that? Trying tasty ethnic food is bad because you’ve never experienced oppression. I guess we should just let sushi and Mexican places go out of business.

She then proceeds on with the ‘guide’ providing a step-by-step process of how not to be a racist when wanting to eat.

Step four titled “loving the food, not the people” states, “America has corporatized “Middle Eastern food” like hummus and falafel, and some people might live by halal food carts, but not understand or address the ongoing Islamophobia in the US.”

Is there no hope for intelligence from these people? Probably not. Me being and old white guy means I’m already evil so my opinion is worthlessn to these nutters.

Needless to say, this guide is a good way to lose your appetite if you’re trying to lose weight. (The Rebel).

Now I can truly say without reservation, The Left makes me sick and wants me to lose my lunch… 🙂

Yoga is Racist

Back in November, Ottawa U banned its free Yoga class because of ‘cultural appropriation’. Now, it’s returned. But something – or rather, someone is missing.

Jennifer Scharf, a white woman, had been teaching the free class since 2008. When she got the news last year that the class had been canceled she was shocked and saddened.

“People are just looking for a reason to be offended by anything they can find,” she said.

The decision to cancel the class came from student leaders. Staff at the Centre for Students with Disabilities said in an email that “while yoga is a really great idea and accessible and great for students … there are cultural issues of implication involved in the practice… Yoga has been under a lot of controversy lately due to how it is being practiced.”

Now the class is back with an Indian teacher, Priya Shah.

Priya Shah is the new teacher for the return of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa's free yoga class at its Centre for Students with Disabilities. She says she wasn't told what kind of class she should teach and hadn't heard about the class's controversial review until last week.

Shah told the state broadcaster, “Nothing was brought to my attention to teach in a different way or do something differently than the other instructor because none of that was really mentioned to me.”

Because that’s not what matters.

She said she wonders if she was hired because she’s Indian.

WELL, HELL YEAH!!!!!!! 🙂

Shah says she grew up in Calgary and only visited India once. She was there for five months.

But she’s the right cultural heritage and looks the part, so who gives a crap about the rest.
“There are many people in my family who practice but I’ve never had the thought that since I’m Indian that I’m a better yoga teacher,” she added.

BUT You are “better” because your “culturally appropriate”. The PC CROWD is HAPPY. That’s all that matters, right? 🙂

“I haven’t taught a class for students with disabilities before but my approach is going to be to just teach to the best of my ability. I want to make it about focusing on the student’s ability and getting them to do the breathing exercises and postures to their best potential,” she said.

“I’m just hoping to have a well-rounded class that’s accessible to anyone.” (CBC)

Yeah, the one who had 7 years of experience got fired for being White. 🙂

The former/ousted Yoga teacher, Jennifer Scharf heard the news that class was brought on. She suggested that the left-wing students are to blame for her not being rehired because she called them social justice warriors.

Well, they are. Truth hurts.

According to The National Post, Scharf wrote about the situation in a blog post.

“I heard today that my old yoga class is back on. Maybe since I called my foes ‘SJW’s’ and then refused to speak the word ‘intersectionality’ with people who don’t even have a cursory understanding of the term, the student centre has decided to hire a teacher of South Indian descent.”

Regardless of the situation, Scharf has other things she’s working on, such as a book and teaching other classes. “I wouldn’t say I need this class. I would love to teach it again but if they’re happier with someone else, what I care about is the class happening.”

The fact that Scharf was not offered back her position is quite troubling. The fact that an Indian woman was hired isn’t the problem; it’s that they never reached out to the former instructor. It shows that the student leaders didn’t learn their lesson when the news that they had banned yoga received international attention for all the wrong reasons.

Of course they learned absolutely nothing. PC Social Justice Warriors are the Holiest of The Holy. They are so far above us mere mortals in their “enlightenment” that they couldn’t possibly have learned anything from us grubby, dirty, nasty, inferior Neanderthals!

They were Holy and they got their way. What’s there to learn? Other than they were right??

It should have been an embarrassing wake-up call. It wasn’t. They’re still fast asleep in lala land.

Instead it just re-affirmed their Holy Purpose. They are the screaming, whining 2 year old who got their pet Indian.

The student leaders are as politically correct and mindless as ever. They believe in this ‘cultural appropriation’ nonsense and can’t smell the shame dripping off of them.

Because they themselves are totally shameless. They are impervious to it. They have a holy mission and they are warriors of justice! 🙂

They’re the joke everyone else in the room is laughing at and they still don’t get it. (The Rebel)

In a since-deleted statement on its Facebook page, the student group said an email exchange between Scharf and student officials, which contained the references to “cultural appropriation” cited in the Sun report, was “outdated” and led to a lot of miscommunication about our program.”

However, the revised SFUO statement cited declining attendance as the primary reason for the suspension and subsequent program review. (Ottawa Sun)

‘Lost in Space’ Star, Bill Mumy: Dismissed as Oscar Voter, With New Diversity Rules

Lost in Space star, Bill Mumy, has penned his frustration to The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, over his dismissal as an Oscar voter.

Mumy, who has been active in the entertainment industry since 1959, wrote that he was ‘dissapointed and saddened’ by the decision of the Academy to remove him as an Oscar voter.

As a seasoned professional in the industry for many years, this decision would surely be hard to justify. 

This change comes in an attempt to make the Academy’s membership, its governing bodies, and its voting members significantly more diverse, with the recent outcry that no black actor was nominated for this years Academy Awards. The Board’s new and recent goal, since the outcry, is to ‘commit to doubling the number of women and diverse members of the Academy by 2020’.

However, Mumy disagrees that racism plays any role in the selection of the nominees, writing: ‘The nomination process is not racist. Surely you realize that members of the Academy don’t get together in clandestine meetings to discuss who they’re going to nominate or not nominate.’

According to a study by the LA Times, Oscar voters are nearly 94% Caucasian and 77% male. Blacks are about 2% of the academy, and Latinos are less than 2%. The study also revealed that Oscar voters have a median age of 62, the study also revealed that people younger than 50 constitute just 14% of the membership.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences explains the new diversity rules:  ‘Beginning later this year, each new member’s voting status will last 10 years, and will be renewed if that new member has been active in motion pictures during that decade.  In addition, members will receive lifetime voting rights after three ten-year terms; or if they have won or been nominated for an Academy Award.  We will apply these same standards retroactively to current members.  In other words, if a current member has not been active in the last 10 years they can still qualify by meeting the other criteria.  Those who do not qualify for active status will be moved to emeritus status.  Emeritus members do not pay dues but enjoy all the privileges of membership, except voting.  This will not affect voting for this year’s Oscars.’

To Whom it May Concern,

I started working as an actor at the age of five in 1959. I made my debut in a major studio feature film when I was six. I worked prolifically in both features and television and was accepted into the prestigious voting ranks of the actors branch of the Academy in 1975.

Some of the producers, directors and fellow actors I’ve had the privilege of working for and with include: Walt Disney, Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Jimmy Stewart, Shirley Jones, Gene Kelly, Rod Serling, Lucille Ball, Steve McQueen, Dustin Hoffman, Stanley Kramer, John Cassavetes, Judy Garland, Martha Coolidge, Jack Palance, Burt Lancaster, Jack Klugman, Ed Wynn, Brigitte Bardot, Cloris Leachman, Claude Reins, Franklin Shafner, Irwin Allen… The list goes on and on and on. My point is: I learned my trade from Masters and I strongly feel that I’m still qualified to view films and share my opinions on them via an Academy ballot.

Sadly, the Academy no longer feels that is true.

I’ve continued to work as an actor onscreen and as a voice over artist, but it’s been increasingly difficult finding A-level representation. Many agencies have told me they feel my having been a child star so long ago is more of a detriment than a benefit. I simply haven’t been interested in working in films I’ve felt had weak scripts or were of an exploitative, negative nature. Nor do I choose to audition for bit parts or work for basically no money. Like so many other Academy members who have a long history in the film industry, you are now punishing me for a lack of consistent employment, when it is beyond my own ability to cast myself or even find representation who can get me into the meetings and auditions these days for quality roles and films in the first place.
I have careers in music and writing and I chose to stay home for several years when my two children, who have both worked as actors in major studio feature films, were young. I don’t see why that should now render my vote unworthy.

I’m deeply saddened and disappointed by the actions the Academy has taken, without any discussion first amongst the members, to capitulate to a handful of whiners who threaten to “boycott” by not dressing up, walk the red carpet and sit in the audience because they feel the actors branch didn’t do our jobs of nominating candidates for Oscars this year to their personal satisfaction.

The nomination process is not racist. Surely you realize that members of the Academy don’t get together in clandestine meetings to discuss who they’re going to nominate or not nominate. Personally, I was shocked that neither Michael Caine or Harvey Keitel received a nomination for their excellent work in “Youth”, but I certainly don’t consider it a deliberate slight because they’re senior citizen caucasians.

Academy awards are not about the television broadcast, the dresses, jewelry or the paparazzi and publicity regardless of how much the public and industry folks enjoy that part of it. They are about recognizing outstanding achievements in filmmaking over a years time, regardless of age, gender or color of skin.

Now, I, like so many others, have been relegated to a lesser status by the current administration of the Academy. Booted down to a level where our opinions no longer matter, insulted by the organization that once considered us exceptional. Some, punished for enjoying semi-retirement after working, like myself, for well over half a century. It’s ageism pure and simple.

Pretty sad.

I got this alert from SUPER-LIBERAL Writer David Gerrold (Star Trek and more) because it’s just wrong. Period.

He’s not relevant to the PC need for “diversity” (aka anything but White).

Apparently, the Academy thinks if the get more black voters in the Academy they will automatically vote based on race, thus more black films will be nominated.

So kick old white people. Especially, cultural icons like Billy Mumy. H

After all Blacks will only vote for Blacks, right? Latinos for Latinos? LGBT for LGBT?

This is how simplistic Liberals really are. And how obsessed with Race they are.

Of course it’s wrong, but it “diversity” and “inclusion” so it must be right. 🙂
