Good News, Bad News

The federal government collected a record amount of taxes in fiscal year 2014, topping $3 trillion in revenue for the first time in its history, according to Treasury Department numbers released Wednesday that show the influx helped drop the deficit to its lowest level under President Obama.

The recovering economy was the key, sending personal and corporate incomes higher — and thus sending more money to Washington. Individual taxes rose 6 percent and corporate-income taxes, which are the best indicator of a business recovery, leapt 17 percent.

Just five years ago, the Treasury took in $2.1 trillion, but fiscal year 2014, which ended Sept. 30, saw the final take at $3.020 trillion. The government spent $3.504 trillion, leaving it $483 billion in the red. That’s down from $1.4 trillion in 2010, and is the lowest figure since 2008.

The good news is, that the government has never taken in more money ever. The bad news, it come from you! You’ve never given more.

The good news is the government has never taken in more money. The bad news is that th THEY STILL SPENT MORE THAN THEY TOOK IN.

The good news, according to Democrats, they spent more than  they took in LESS than they did 5 years ago. The bad news is that they have overspent EVERY SINGLE YEAR since 2008.

But it’s less, so you should be proud of them. 🙂

So the National Debt stands at $17.864 TRILLION dollar. That’s the good news, because, as the Democrats are proud to say, they overspent less than before.

The bad news is it’s nearly $8 Trillion more debt in 5+ years of Obama. He will spend more and accumulate more debt than all Presidents in the history of the country combined.

But that’s Bush’s fault, you know! 🙂

And hey, he’s got his drug addiction down 60% from 5 years ago. Of course he did it by taking more money in taxes than ever before and snorting roughly the say, but hey who’s counting that you “hater”! 🙂

“The president’s policies and a strengthening U.S. economy have resulted in a reduction of the U.S. budget deficit of approximately two-thirds — the fastest sustained deficit reduction since World War II,” Mr. Lew said.

Deficit reduction while the debt rises faster than ever.

Orwell would be proud of your dis-assembly of the language.

Over spending and debt is good, as long as you over spend less every year!

I really should try that with my credit cards… Nah! I’m not that stupid.

Just five years ago, in 2009, the trough of the recession, revenue was only $2.1 trillion. That means it’s leapt $900 billion in just five years.

Spending, meanwhile, has remained relatively flat at about $3.5 trillion.

So he’s overspending less and that’s a good thing… 🙂

Mr. Obama fought for higher personal income-tax rates in 2012, winning a postelection deal in the so-called “fiscal cliff” debate that saw income taxes hiked for the wealthiest, and payroll tax hikes for everyone. (WT)

President Obama made  a promise to not increase taxes for families making less than $250,000 a year.

Mind you, Obamacare IS a Tax, but it’s not a Tax, it’s a Penalty that is a Tax that isn’t a Tax. but then the Supreme Court said it was a Tax!

But the government has collected more taxes, so when it spends too much they can cheer that they are overspending less and you should be happy for them.

The $$$ drug addicts have cut back. No, they just got people to give them more drugs so they can maintain their habit and it LOOKS like they cut their consumption.

It’s good news for Orwell, bad news for the Country, as a whole.

Rejoice, we Overspend Less. Lets all throw a Party!

“I don’t think the government’s going to get any more out of the American economy. The only way Europe does is because they have the VAT taxes,” Mr. Edwards said, referring the Value Added Tax system that is prominent on the Continent. He predicted VAT would be the next big tax battle in the U.S.

Of course, the addicts still need more money. They can’t survive on a flat income source. THEY WANT MORE!

They NEED MORE! FEED ME!

FEED ME!  The BEAST IS HUNGRY!

And you get a starring role on the BIGGEST LOSER! 🙂

Zombie Nation

The Obama administration passed another fiscal milestone this week, according to new data <http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np> released by the Treasury Department. As of the close of business on Oct. 3, the total national debt was $14,837,099,271,196.71—up about $44.8 billion from Sept. 30.

That means that in the less-than-three-years Obama has been in office, the federal debt has increased by $4.212 trillion–more than the total national debt of about $4.1672 trillion accumulated by all 41 U.S. presidents from George Washington through George H.W. Bush combined.

(and as much as George W Bush in 8 years! BTW)…

This $4.212-trillion increase in the national debt means that during Obama’s term the federal government has already borrowed about an additional $35,835 for every American household–or $44,980 for every full-time private-sector worker.

The Unemployment rate (those reporting that they are unemployed NOT the ones who have given up) is still 9.1% in the last jobs report. Half of the jobs “created” were union people who were on strike and not anymore.

But don’t worry, Obama’s Son of Stimulus where he SPENDS EVEN MORE will save us all! 🙂

OCCUPY WALL STREET

“God bless them,” Pelosi said, “for their spontaneity. It’s independent … it’s young, it’s spontaneous, and it’s focused. And it’s going to be effective.”

“The message of the protesters is a message for the establishment everyplace,” said the House Democrats’ leader. “No longer will the recklessness of some on Wall Street cause massive joblessness on Main Street.” (Weekly Standard)

Pelosi on The Tea Party 2009:  protesters are “carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on healthcare.”

“This [tea party] initiative is funded by the high end — we call call it astroturf, it’s not really a grassroots movement. It’s astroturf by some of the wealthiest people in America to keep the focus on tax cuts for the rich instead of for the great middle class.”

“However, it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue,” the two leaders write…. “These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.”

“This isn’t about politics,” Obama said. “This about people’s lives… That’s why we must get this done – and why we will get this done – by the end of this year.

Now onto the Demands (hold onto your sanity):

All Debt world wide must be forgiven.

Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the “Books.” World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the “Books.” And I don’t mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

Has your brain processed how insane and naive that is yet?

From the Occupy Wall Street website:

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending “Freetrade” by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.

Demand four: Free college education.

Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand. (the fact that that is technologically impossible right is immaterial to these loons)

Demand six:
One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now. (OH, THE STIMULUS and The American Jobs Acts!!) 🙂

Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America’s nuclear power plants.

Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.

Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.

Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all.

Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union. (Gee the Union backers of this couldn’t have been behind this one!)

These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy.

“this is what democracy looks like” — The Occupiers.

Has your brain exploded yet? Well…

OBAMACARE

The federal government is taking on a crucial new role in the nation’s health care, designing a basic benefits package for millions of privately insured Americans. A framework for the Obama administration was released Friday.

The report by independent experts from the Institute of Medicine lays out guidelines for deciding what to include in the new “essential benefits package,” and how to keep it affordable for small businesses and taxpayers, as well as scientifically up to date.

The advisers recommended that the package be built on mid-tier health plans currently offered by small employers, expanded to include certain services such as mental health, and squeezed into a budget. They did not spell out a list of services to cover, but they did say that treatments should be cost-effective.

Until now, designing benefits has been the job of insurers, employers and states. But the new health care law requires insurance companies to provide at least the federally approved package if they want to sell to small businesses, families and individuals through new state markets set to open in 2014.

Existing workplace plans won’t be required to adopt the federal model, but employers and consumer advocates alike predict it will become the nation’s benchmark for health insurance over time.

“The federal government has never before attempted to define what constitutes essential medical benefits for Americans with private insurance,” said Stephen Finan, a top policy expert for the American Cancer Society.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in a statement that officials would hold “listening sessions” around the country before any final decisions are made, a process that could take months.

“Before we put forward a proposal, it is critical that we hear from the American people,” Sebelius said. The law would expand coverage to about 30 million uninsured people.

Hear this: KILL THE WHOLE THING AND GO AWAY!

Not “Listening” to that are you? 🙂

Red State.com: It is time to face reality. I am not nearly well-informed enough to offer even an educated guess as to the immediate cause of the market crash and subsequent recession/depression. But it seems painfully clear at this point that a substantial portion of the economic growth we enjoyed in the years prior to 2007 was entirely illusory and funded by ill-advised and unsustainable lending practices. This is a problem that doesn’t solve itself overnight. And moreover, when it is “solved,” a substantial portion of us will nonetheless have to accept a lifestyle that is much less comfortable than the ones we enjoyed 5 years ago.

What scares me – I mean, truly terrifies me – about this entire situation is not what I am going to do about my own predicament (although I would be lying if I said it did not cause me substantial amounts of stress). It is that no Presidential candidate who stands a chance of winning can afford to say anything like the preceding paragraph. It would be political suicide for any candidate – Republican or Democrat – to suggest aloud, “You know what? As a candidate I can fix things around the edges and start us on the road to recovery, but if we’re being perfectly honest with each other, it’s going to be a long time (if ever) before things get back to the way they were.”

And if the American people cannot stand to hear that message even when it is the manifest truth, we are in serious trouble. Because what it means is that we have become a nation in which people cannot be told to act like adults because we are no longer capable of doing it. And a nation where people have to be promised free ponies and unicorn dust even when everyone can see there’s no more ponies in the stable is a nation that’s just biding its time until final collapse.

America is going to go through a difficult time of readjustment and we will only get through it by knuckling down, determining to generate more productivity and make do with less – in other words, doing the things that brought us through before. If we have become so cushy and coddled that we can’t even stand to hear that it needs to be done again, then we are lost.

47% of poeple pay no income taxes. 48% of them are on government assistance.

The bottom 50% of all people pay 3% of the taxes.

So are you ready to make real sacrifices or do you want someone else to do it for you?

Only, there is no one else.

The truth doesn’t care if you don’t like it. A lesson I learned several years ago.

But Obama is here to save you. Rejoice!

And if disagree  you’re a greedy, rich-loving, sicko racist. 🙂

And the Occupiers are the future of America and the liberal media will be egging them on. 🙂

“Because what it means is that we have become a nation in which people cannot be told to act like adults because we are no longer capable of doing it.”

Rejoice.

Before I get to the explanation, choke on this fact:

Updated numbers for the national debt are just out: It’s now $14,639,000,000,000.

When Barack Obama took the oath of office twice on Jan. 20, 2009, CBS’ amazing number cruncher Mark Knoller reports, the national debt was $10,626,000,000,000.

That means the debt that our federal government owes a whole lot of somebodies including China has increased $4,247,000,000,000 in just 945 days. That’s the fastest increase under any president ever.

But that’s George Bush’s Fault! He made them do it! remember that. 🙂

The nation’s debt increased $4.9 trillion under President Bush too, btw. But it took him 2,648 days to do it. Obama will surpass that sum during this term. (LA times)

That’s the Republicans Fault! 🙂

It’s growing $2.95 million a minute, but don’t worry, we just need to SPEND EVEN MORE!

And it’s all those nasty, mean “Conservatives” fault!

The Buck stops with anyone but a Democrats (or “Liberal”).

The Media Research Center has a revelatory study out this morning on the vast discrepancy between the way the news networks use the “conservative” and “liberal” labels for candidates.

In the first half of this year, NBC, ABC and CBS morning and evening news shows put attached the term “conservative” to a presidential contender 62 times, while during the same period in the presidential race in 2007, “liberal” came up only three times.

Media Research Center analysts reviewed the ABC, CBS and NBC morning and evening news programs from January 1 through July 31 and found 62 “conservative” labels for Republican candidates or those talked about as potential candidates. A check of the same broadcasts for the same time period in 2007 found a paltry three “liberal” labels for the Democrats running that year, a greater than 20-to-1 disparity.

In fact, reporters four years ago used the “liberal” label more freely with Republican candidates than Democrats. ABC’s Jake Tapper (World News, March 5, 2007) called Rudy Giuliani a “former big city mayor with liberal views on abortion, gay rights, and gun control.” But Democratic candidates such as Edwards and Clinton, whose views were to the left of Giuliani, were not once called “liberal” on any of the networks during the period we examined, while CBS and NBC never tagged Barack Obama as liberal.
Indeed, the most-labeled candidate this cycle is Michele Bachmann, who accounted for more than a third (23) of the ideological descriptions we tallied. On ABC’s World News on June 14, correspondent John Berman called Bachmann “one of Congress’s most conservative members.” Later that month, ABC’s Jon Karl described Bachmann as having “unyieldingly conservative views (June 26) and as an “uncompromising conservative” (June 27). Over on the CBS Evening News, Jan Crawford tagged Bachmann as “unapologetically conservative” (June 26).

On the June 27 NBC Nightly News, correspondent Kelly O’Donnell said Bachmann was “known for her firebrand conservative style.” The next morning on Today, co-host Matt Lauer asked Bachmann: “Are you at all concerned that your socially conservative views, that make you very popular in Iowa, might not play as well down the road?”

Four years ago, former North Carolina Senator John Edwards espoused the most stridently liberal positions of the major Democratic candidates, but drew no liberal labels from January 1 through July 31, 2007. (Then-NBC reporter Chip Reid, however, did supply a single liberal label on the December 28, 2006 edition of Today, as Edwards prepared to announce his candidacy: “Critics say Edwards is too liberal and, with just one term in the Senate, too inexperienced.”)Viewers only heard two liberal labels for then-Senator Barack Obama, who, like Edwards, espoused strongly liberal positions as a candidate. The labels came in a single flattering story by ABC’s Jake Tapper that was aired both on the January 16, 2007 World News and the next morning’s Good Morning America: “Obama has drawn raves for presenting fairly traditional liberal views as fresh and inspiring….As for then-New York Senator Hillary Clinton, who led the Democratic field throughout 2007, she was also never termed a liberal. In fact, network analysts busied themselves refuting the notion. “People think she’s a liberal, even though she’s hawkish,” MSNBC’s Chris Matthews asserted on NBC’s Todayon January 15, 2007. (Mr. “Tingle up my Leg” himself!)

For its part, CBS failed to attach a single liberal label to the Democratic candidates during the first seven months of 2007.It’s neither inaccurate nor impolite to describe this year’s GOP candidates as “conservative” — most of them wear the label proudly. But if the networks are going to treat both sides fairly, they should have been just as ardent in pointing out the liberalism of the Democratic field that produced the most liberal President in American history.
But why would they do that? 🙂
It would be like calling Illegal Aliens…Illegal Aliens! Not “migrants”.
And Islamic terrorists and radicals…Islamic terrorists and radicals. It’s much easier and better to call the Tea Partiers terrorists than the real ones.
Gotta fear the weirdos.
Besides pin the most ardent Liberals in a corner and they’ll call themselves “Progressives” but they won’t use it except then. It’s another out for them.
Demonize your opposition.
Label the Mark of the Beast.
Begone, ye SATAN “Conservative”. 🙂
Chris Matthews on Gov. Rick Perry:  Speculating on the Texas Governor’s popularity, Matthews theorized, “Do you think part of this southern appeal of this guy, who is to most of us this guy, Rick Perry, is he’s not a Mormon. He’s a Southern Baptist.” The NBC anchor then suggested sinister motives behind his supporters: “And a lot of it is that permission slip people give themselves, ‘Oh, I’m not bigoted on race or religion, but I just like this guy.'”
Now can you imagine saying that about the other guy…you know…THE LIBERAL. of course not, why would they do that…
Sunday’s (NBC) Meet the Press, substitute host Savannah Guthrie pushed the President from the left: “If the President thinks more should be done, if he thinks there should be more stimulus, why doesn’t he just go for broke? Why doesn’t he go out there and ask for it, make a case for it?”
Yeah, go for it! We’re nearly 15,000,000,000,000 in debt what the hell let’s SPEND EVEN MORE!!
Now that’s a good plan!! 😦
In contrast to her exchange with Gibbs, when Guthrie interviewed Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels minutes later, she actually discouraged Republicans from standing on principle: “…at the Republican debate the candidates were asked whether they would accept a deal in which there were $10 of spending cuts for every $1 of tax hikes. And every single candidate raised their hand….does that convey a sense that Republicans are so intransigent on this issue that this problem they profess to care about, i.e. the deficit, can’t be solved?”

Daniels countered by pointing to stubbornness on the Democratic side: “Well, first, there’s tons of intransigence on the other side. The Democrats have been utterly, I’d say, not only stubborn, but cynical in their protestations that they won’t touch, they won’t, they won’t modernize or rebuild the safety net programs, and everyone knows that has to happen.”

AVILA: Deep cuts in education helped balance the budget, and the divide between rich and poor is the fourth widest in the country. Some argue that, deep in the heart of Rick Perry’s Texas, there is little heart. Jim Avila, ABC News, San Antonio. (NB)
“I know you’re an objective reporter, but I smell birtherism about this guy. His attack on Obama isn’t just policy. It’s about the nature of the person who’s President….This could be Bull Connor with a smile.”–Chris Matthews. The fact that Bull Connor was a White, Southern DEMOCRAT I’m sure was missed by this Alinsky-inspired attack.
And we all know the Mainstream media is “Objective”, don’t we? 🙂
So where are the statements about Obama’s economy, the nearly $5 Trillion in spending in less than 3 years,  the chronic  unemployment, Libya, taxes, jobs, ObamaCare, anti-business, being a SOCIALIST! etc.
Oh, sorry, that’s George Bush’s Fault! Silly me… 🙂
And what isn’t his fault is the Republicans fault. Even if they have only had one branch of Congress for 7 months it’s still there fault.
Why? because they are “CONSERVATIVES”. That’s why. And we all know they are stubborn, heartless, mean, miserly, nasty old grinchs who just wanna throw grandma off a cliff, steal candy from babies, and be racist, bible-thumping terrorists.
And we can’t have that now can we?
Vote for Me, the Democrat, because the other guy/ gal  is a “Conservative” (aka asshole)!!

No Hyperbole Here…

Political Cartoons by Bob Gorrell

The U.S. national debt on January 1st, 1791 was just $75 million dollars. Today, the U.S. national debt rises by that amount about once an hour.

Counting social security and medicare, the U.S. government is committed to future payment in excess of 65 TRILLION dollars.

And that does not even include Unions and their lavish taxpayer funded pensions and benefits. 🙂

But don’t worry, “we aren’t broke” and the Republicans are evil, draconian arseholes who just want to steal food from grandma and give it to the richest 2%!! 😦

More Evidence: Rev Jesse Jackson–

On Thursday’s “Martin Bashir” on MSNBC, Jackson, the founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, said the budget battle on the Republican side represents an effort to make the federal government “dysfunctional.”

“[T]his really is a Civil War fight,” Jackson said. “This is making the federal government dysfunctional on the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. These guys will support three wars. They’ll support tax dodgers. They’ll support the wealthiest Americans getting tax breaks. They want to cut into education and health care. This is an ideological battle.”

“States’ right are anti-civil rights, anti-workers’ right to bargain, anti-social justice, pro-rich and significantly insensitive to poor people — that was the great divide 150 years ago and it’s the great divide today in the ideological sense.”

So just remember, this battle over piddly Billions (against a $15 TRILLION dollar deficit) is morally equivalent to Gettysburg where 51,000 people DIED.  660,000 people died in the Civil War.

Now that’s equivalent and not hysterical hyperbole. 🙂

And his view of history is truly frightening.

Republicans said the principal hang-up in the negotiations centered on the size of the spending cuts to be included in any deal to fund the government through September, when the current budget year ends. But Democrats said the GOP’s demands on social issues, including denying federal dollars for Planned Parenthood, were at the heart of the deadlock.

“It’s an ideological battle,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. “It has nothing to do with the fiscal integrity of this country.”

Democrats said the deadlock was all about a GOP demand to deny federal dollars for Planned Parenthood, which uses the taxpayer money to offer contraception and health care for women. Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest provider of abortion assistance.

Yeah, the ideology of federally funded abortions!  Talk about priorities!!

Really…:(

D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton tells Fox 5 in Washington:

“We are absolutely outraged. This is the functional equivalent of bombing innocent civilians… It’s time that the District of Columbia told the Congress to go straight to hell….

If these Republicans insist that, if they don’t get the whole pie they’ll take the whole country down with them.

But don’t worry, there’s no fearmongering and no hyperbole! 😦

And the Democrats are earnestly trying to come a deal, but those rotten Republicans (who are the only ones to pass bills that have died in the Democrat controlled Senate)  refuse to “compromise”.

Congress is responsible for creating a budget each year. The House of Representatives originates the budget, which then must be passed by the Senate and signed by the President.  This is supposed to happen well in advance of the U. S. government’s fiscal year, which begins on October 1 of the year preceding.

That means that the Democratically controlled Congress should have had a 2011 budget ready by Oct. 1, 2010.  But it didn’t. Why?  Because the House Democrats knew, well before that date, that they would likely lose control of the House in the 2010 mid-term elections. Here is it April, with the fiscal year half over and still no budget is done. Appalling is not a strong enough word.  In business, these people would have been fired long ago.

There was no political advantage for them (or the President) to struggle with the gargantuan 2011 budget right before the mid-term elections. They could just pass a series of “continuing resolutions” that allowed the government to go on spending at elevated levels until the new House came into office in January, and let those new Representatives “take the blame” for cutting programs and even for “shutting down the government.”

By failing to fulfill their responsibility to create the 2011 budget, the Democrats in Congress created the potential government shutdown.

They just put a “time-delay fuse” on it, so they could blame it on the new Republican controlled House. (forbes blog)

TA-DA!

And if you disagree with them, well, you’re just a Civil War bomber of innocent people who wants to wages war on the poor and force seniors to starve to death! 🙂

But there’s no hyperbole and fear. 🙂

And the Liberal Media will be “fair”. 🙂

The media are primed to blame Republicans for an impending shutdown that Democrats are praying will happen. The dirty secret is that government doesn’t shut down during shutdowns.

During the Clinton administration, a budget confrontation with the Republican Congress led to a government shutdown that helped Bill Clinton resuscitate his presidency and win re-election. But it didn’t have to be that way.

An indefinite ceasing of nonessential federal activities can be an enlightening event for the public. As Fox News’ John Stossel pointed out this week, most Americans won’t notice that the departments of labor, commerce and agriculture aren’t there anymore — and, as Stossel quipped, “those who would notice shouldn’t be getting those handouts anyway.”

Let enough time pass without these bloated bureaucracies engaging in their daily waste of the hard-earned money of others and people will start catching on that the country can do without them — do better without them, in fact.

Democrats — ably assisted by their allies in the establishment media — have no intention of letting that be the message beamed out to the public, however. The Democratic-controlled Senate and the White House this week rejected a House Republican stopgap measure that would have kept the government open for another week and funded the military for the remainder of the year.

The excuse given by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., was the “riders” within the measure on “women’s health” and “clean air.” But GOP provisions on carbon emissions and Planned Parenthood funding are actually not contained in the stopgap measure, the only riders being a ban on Gitmo detainees going to U.S. soil and a D.C. anti-abortion funding prohibition.

Could it be clearer that Democrats want a shutdown, seeing a Clintonian opportunity to repair their political fortunes?

Be prepared to hear charges that all a shutdown really does is give millions of federal employees an extra paid vacation; idle public employees definitely don’t lose their health benefits, and although there is no guarantee they will get paid for their time away, the administration may do all in its power to see they are paid for nonwork — then blame Republicans.

As Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., noted this week, “three-fourths of the federal workforce would stay in place” during a shutdown — making it not a shutdown but a slowdown. In addition to Social Security, “the military would continue to be paid, and all essential services” would go on, Bachmann told reporters.

The White House on Wednesday said that of the nearly 3 million federal workers, only 800,000 might be furloughed. That makes this “shutdown” largely a show. (IBD)

A politically motivated show.

Can you say set up?

I knew you could.

Remember liberal politicians and apparatchiks have no morals or ethics whatsoever. Win at all costs. No matter what.

As Charlie Sheen would say, “Duh, Winning…” 🙂

“You’ll have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it” -Soon-to-be Ex-Speaker Pelosi.

Sounds a bit like the “Let’s make a Deal” and the Zonk was crammed down your throat because it was the right thing to do! 😦

If you want to know why Washington can’t control entitlement spending, there’s no better example than the regular ritual surrounding Medicare payments to physicians.

It has been going on for more than a decade, and it follows a consistent script. Congress faces a deadline to adjust Medicare reimbursements to a sustainable growth rate (SGR) established in a 1997 law. But Congress has never trimmed payments to anything near the levels demanded by the SGR formula, and it’s too late to play catch-up.

The looming cut is alarmingly large — so large that there’s no way it can stick. The American Medical Association then makes a fuss, raises the specter of doctors fleeing Medicare en masse, scares the seniors and forces Congress to come up with a short-term patch that holds the line on pay for a year or so and maybe even raises it a bit.

So the can gets kicked down the road, and Medicare keeps eating up a larger share of gross domestic product.

More than 60% of yearly spending is devoted to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and Defense apart from war expenditures. Budgetary discipline is impossible without a no-holds-barred discussion of demography, increased longevity and the national-security perils of unsustainable national debt.(IBD)

And then there’s Social Security, which the government’s main dependency weapon. But also they can’t privatize it because they stole the money decades ago but will never admit it.

Then there are the public sector government unions and their out of control, over the top salaries and lavish Rolls Royce pensions and benefits.

Yet, in California alone, nearly 10,000 retirees will get pension checks totaling at least $100,000 this year (that’s a Billion dollars a year folks in just 1 state! and these people typically can retire in their 50’s so could collect 30-40 BILLION dollars over time!)

And California just re-elected,after 30 years out of office, a massive Liberal, Jerry Brown.

Joshua Rauh, associate professor of finance at at Northwestern University, estimates that 20 states will run out of pension money by 2025.

The pension doomsday clocks in Illinois and New Jersey will strike even sooner, in 2018, he said. (MSNBC)

Social Security and Medicare are also headed for doomsday in the next generation.

In New Jersey, for example, the state is obligated to pay pensions out of the general fund when the pension fund runs dry. In 2018, the state will owe $14 billion in pension payouts, or one-third of the state’s annual tax receipts. To put that in perspective, to plug a budget hole like that this year, the state would have to cut all education spending. That bears repeating: It would have to eliminate spending on every elementary school, high school and college from its budget.

Another common pension abuse is “double-dipping” – a practice in which employees retire and start collecting their pension, then are rehired to perform their old job at their old salary. It’s a common practice for government workers around the country, despite many rules forbidding it.  Workers often argue that they have earned their pension and their right to retire, and if they decide to work during retirement, they’re entitled.  But the logic there is deeply flawed, said Dean.

“Pensions were designed to make sure government workers were allowed to grow old with dignity, not to make them rich,” he said.

And the poster child for that is Phoenix’s own Chief of Police (with help from his good buddy Mayor Phil “flash” Gordon) Jack “The Hack” Harris.

He retired as chief in 2007 and began collecting a $90,000 pension. Two weeks later, he was hired for essentially the same job, retitled “public safety manager,” and granted a salary of $193,000.

And Mayor Phil is a Pro-Illegal, “soak the rich” progressive Liberal!

Liberals love to dip into other people’s pockets and manipulate the system for their own advantage and then blame it on greedy “rich” people and conservatives/republicans.

Well, I guess I wouldn’t be poor either if I had a $90,000 pension and a $193,000 job all at taxpayer expense!!

But undoubtedly I’d be a racist! 🙂

A 30-year government worker with a final salary of $80,000 could expect an annual pension of roughly $55,000, or about $4,600 per month for life, under the current scheme. (And could easily be in their 50’s)

To earn that kind of guaranteed monthly income, a 401(k) saver would need $1 million in their retirement account, assuming $100,000 in savings can generate $400 in monthly income.

While it’s not impossible to grow a 401(k) to those lofty levels, it is rare.  In fact, 50 percent of Americans who have 401(k) accounts have less than $35,000 in them. Contrast that with our 30-year government workers who can all expect predictable pension checks.

So expect a furious battle as state governments attempt to reign in pension costs. (MSNBC)

And you get the Unions “outraged” and etc and that’s why they support the liberals in the Democrat party, because they will just keep paying them out and blaming someone else (“The rich”) for it.

We are on pace to soon owe 100% of our annual gross domestic product in national debt, while compiling the largest annual peacetime deficits in our history.

And what will happen when the pain comes?

Lots of crying and nashing of teeth and blaming “the rich”. But mostly, it will be the new NIMBY Principle. Not in my Back pocket You!

“Someone else” has to pay for my sins. Not Me. “Them”.

Sorry, but it’s YOU. Me. and that Grand Piano of neglected debt, avarice, and delusion staring down at you!

That’s the REAL TRUTH.

You aren’t required to like it.

It just is.

Deal with it.

The Free Ride is over. It’s time to roll up your selves, feel the pain, and get it done.

But first you have to De-tox the patient. And these DT’s are going to be a near stoke.

But as anyone who has ever kicked an addiction knows, you have to want to change first. And there in lies the real problem.

The patient knows he’s very sick, possibly morbidly so, but when the doctor prescribes the cure the patient is going to wail like a banshee and kick and scream and throw a tantrum.

Think I overstate, just wait and see.

And the Liberal Media and The Democrats will play the head drug pusher tempting you back into the opium den.

Think I overstate, just wait and see.

I think not.

And look at it this way: In terms of our collective health and national security, a budget surplus is probably worth more than an expanded federal health care entitlement, another Social Security cost-of-living increase or a new aircraft carrier.

But no pain, no gain!

So do you want another hit of Opium??

Wolves at The Door And Boy are they Hungry!

The Wolves are at the door.

They want your Retirement money.

But they don’t want to say that outright. No, they are wolves, and they want to be sneaky about it.

They Care.

We are from the Government and we want to help you save more.

The Proposal is only half of the story.

So let’s start at the beginning…

According to the Labor and Treasury Departments, draft federal regulations will be published for public comment as soon as next week which would “promote” the conversion of 401(k) and IRA accounts to annuities. Make no mistake here: Obama is after your retirement money. The “annuities” will “invest” not in the familiar packages of bond and stock mutual funds but in the Treasury debt!

That’s right folks, your retirement! 🙂

All under the guise of “helping you save more”.

SO THEY CAN SPEND IT! or cover up the debt.

After all, the government only paid out $100 Billion in interest alone in January.

“Officials in the Obama administration are moving quickly to develop the investment infrastructure behind the president’s proposal for mandatory automatic enrollment in individual retirement accounts, which could be supported by the creation of Treasury-issued retirement bonds

J. Mark Iwry, deputy assistant secretary for retirement and health policy at the Department of the Treasury, said that administration officials are exploring some “conservative” 😦 options for investing the assets of 78 million Americans that he estimates could be automatically en¬rolled in this “universal” workplace retirement system. (Before it’s News)

The biggest pool of real money left in the U.S. (more than $4.7 trillion) is in 401(k) and IRA “defined contribution” accounts. Created by Congress, these saving for retirement devices allow millions of working Americans in more than 700,000 private plans to defer federal income tax on annual contributions to the account.

During working years (the accumulation phase), the account is invested mostly in private companies. These retirement accounts are the lifeblood of capitalism.

In retirement, tax is paid on the amount withdrawn from the account. Many retirees choose to buy private annuities with all or part of the 401(k) locking in guaranteed (lower) return. The annuity allows further tax deferment because only a portion of the payout is return of principal. Private annuities also presently invest mostly in private companies although they are permitted to also invest in Treasury debt.

Now the feds want to “regulate” the inclusion of tax-deferred annuities into already tax-deferred retirement accounts of still-working Americans. As stated this week by Assistant Labor Secretary Phyllis C. Borzi and Assistant Treasury Secretary Mark Iwry, recent stock losses to retirement accounts mean that the feds must protect workers with safer “lifetime income options.” And what could be “safer” than Treasury bonds with principal and interest guaranteed by the U.S. government?

The idea is called Orwellian-ly “Guaranteed Retirement Accounts”.

You are mandated to save money. They government takes that money and pays you back later.

Sounds like a good deal, doesn’t it?

Sounds like Payroll, FICA, and SocSec Taxes to me. Just another wolf at the door wanting another of my chickens in return for a promise of a return later (anyone else hearing Wimpey from Popeye??)

The idea to confiscate your retirement money came (no surprise) from  Liberal academia.

On Nov. 20, 2007, Theresa Ghilarducci, professor of economic policy analysis at the New School for Social Research in New York, presented a paper proposing that the feds eliminate the tax deferral for private retirement accounts, confiscate the balance of those accounts, give each worker a $600 annual “contribution,” assess a mandatory savings tax on every worker and guarantee a 3 percent rate of return on the newly titled “Guaranteed Retirement Accounts,” or GRAs.

Professor Ghilarducci repeated the proposal on Oct. 17, 2008, in testimony before the House Committee on Education and Labor. She testified that the current system “exacerbates income and wealth inequalities,” and told an interviewer later: “I’m just rearranging the tax breaks that are available now for 401(k)s and spreading … spreading the wealth.”

The professor cited another reason supporting her plan – you’re too dumb. The federal takeover would eliminate investment risk because “Humans often lack the foresight, discipline and investing skills required to sustain a savings plan.”

Responding to the professor’s remarks, Chairman of the Committee Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., blamed Wall Street for the stock-market drop and pledged to “strengthen and protect Americans’ 401(k)s, pensions and other retirement plans.”

Argentina did just that. The Wall Street Journal reported on Oct. 22, 2008, that Argentina had seized all private retirement accounts and promised to compensate holders of those accounts with government bonds. Investors thereafter fled Argentina, and the value of those bonds collapsed.

The current proposal does not go this far. The Employee Benefits Security Administration in the Department of Labor will issue a request for information inviting ideas on how annuity lifetime options should be structured into defined contribution private retirement plans.

This is the first step. Recent stock-market gains have taken the edge off the push to nationalize these accounts in return for the “security” of government-guaranteed return. A future “crisis” of stock-price downturn could be just the trigger needed to make professor Ghilarducci the czar, or czarina, of your retirement account.

You will be forced into another Social Security-like scheme with the proposed mandatory Guaranteed Retirement Annuity, with 5% of your salary confiscated into the program. You will also eventually find your existing retirement funds forced into the government program and you will lose your ability to invest and protect your retirement funds outside of the dollar, government bonds, and the US investment markets at some time in the future. The only questions are when and what the final details of this, the greatest potential wealth confiscation in the history of the world, will be.

Today over $15 trillion is sitting in tax-favored retirement plans, including $4 trillion in IRA accounts. Retirement savings make up 35% of all private assets. Washington is broke, the deficit is soaring and Congress simply can’t wait for Americans to retire so they can start taxing these funds. The politicians are tired of waiting; they need your money now.

Imagine what Liberal Ideologues like Obama could do with that money!! 🙂

At some time during the next decade, a global run on treasury debt and the dollar will also likely take the American stock market down past lows not seen since the financial meltdown crisis in 2008 and 2009. The 50% to 75% stock market pullback during the actual bankruptcy of the Washington debt and paper dollar will send shock waves through retirees and current plan participants as their private retirement plan balances plummet.

At this time, Washington will “come to the rescue” and guarantee all private retirement plan market values back to pre-crisis levels. The gullible American public will overwhelmingly support this effort by switching their dwindling funds into the Guaranteed Retirement Annuity managed by the government. For the first few years, Washington will probably label those few of us who warn that Americans have lost their retirement benefits as extremists, Ron Paul paranoids and Tea Party advocates.

Just like Health Care, which by the way is still coming regardless of what the people say. 😦

Emerging from a meeting with Pelosi yesterday (Feb 2), Reid acknowledged that the most likely scenario for passing reform is what has come to be known as Plan B: Congress would preemptively pass an amending bill through the 51-vote budget reconciliation process, allowing the House to adopt the Senate bill word for word.

“That seems like a strong possibility,” Reid said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to take a shot at the health insurance industry next week by scheduling a vote on a smaller bill to revoke its half-century-old exemption from antitrust laws.(Politico)

So THE AGENDA is THE AGENDA, damn the people, full steam ahead!!

But here’s the Other Half of this little horror tale:

TAXES!

That’s right Taxes!

Bend over because they are not only going to steal your wallet but your clothes while they are at it.

But naturally they aren’t going to come right out and say it.

They aren’t that stupid.

No, it’s much more subtle and pernicious, as most Liberal Ideas are.

Atr.org: But there is one bad–very bad–tax increase on the small business sector in the Obama budget.  Under his plan, the top two income tax rates increase from 33 and 35 percent to 36 and 39.6 percent.  We’ve documented before that two-thirds of small business profits pay taxes in these bracket levels.  Small businesses pass their profits through to their owners, who pay income tax on them.  To raise taxes on “the rich” is a laser-beam tax hike aimed at small employers.

Small business owners also have to pay the Medicare portion of the self-employment tax at the high margin.  Furthermore, they will face a phaseout of their itemized deductions (Pease) and personal exemptions (PEP) under the Obama budget, unlike 2010 law.

What does that mean for the marginal tax rate on small business activity?  Assuming a 5 percent state income tax rate, the calculation is the following for a sole proprietor or general partner (S-corporation owners don’t have to pay Medicare tax, so it will be slightly smaller for them):

Tax Rate
Federal Income 39.6%
State Income 5.0%
Self Employment 2.9%
SE Deduction (0.65%)
PEP and Pease 2.34%
Total 49.19%

So, the top marginal tax rate on small business income will rise to 49.19 percent by my reckoning, up from about 41 percent today.  This is a huge increase in the tax rate on most small business profits.

And these are the small businesses Obama wants to hire people. But he wants to crush them  Health Care “reform”, Mandatory Retirement Accounts, higher taxes and less deductions.

Sure sign me for that. 😦

That’s a Job creator if I ever saw one!!

Oh, and your taxes are going up to.

I know, I know, Obama has repeatedly said that “95% of Americans” will not see any tax increases.

BUT HE WAS LYING.

And he still is.

Remember the Bush Tax Cuts. Set to expire on Jan 1, 2011.

The Liberals and their Bush Derangement will let them expire.

Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.) declared in 2006: “Bush’s tax plan offers next to nothing to average Americans while giving away the store to multimillionaires.”

DO YOU REALIZE OUR TAX BRACKETS ARE GOING UP ‘BY DEFAULT?’  Even if the tax rates are NOT approved (i.e. Congress does NOT have to approve), we will automatically get higher tax brackets.

So if Congress says nothing at all about it, they automatically go up.

Now isn’t that politically convenient.

And they go up AFTER the mid-term elections and you wont feel them on your 2011 taxes until 2012 tax season, which just happens to be Obama’s Re-election year.

Hmm…. 🙂

Beginning in 2011, tax rates from 2001 will return.

Here’s a list compiled by Tax Foundation staff of major federal tax changes that will occur in 2011 when this package expires:

• Individual income tax rates go from 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%, 33%, and 35% to 15%, 28%, 31%, 36%, and 39.6%.

• Child credit falls from $1,000 per child to $500 per child.

• Capital gains tax rates would revert back to 10% and 20% (depending on AGI), while they are currently at 5% and 15%.

• Dividends would once again be taxed at the ordinary income rates (see above), while today they are currently at 5% and 15%.

• After being fully phased out for tax year 2010, the estate tax would be fully reinstated with a top rate of 60 percent and a $1 million exemption.

But don’t worry, you’re not “the 95%”. 😦

You can always contribute to your 401(K) for the tax deferment…Oh, wait the government wants to take that over too!!

To help you save for retirement. 🙂

Ah, ain’t they just the most caring and compassionate people…

One of the best deductions (other than a home) is a small business.

Oh, wait, they are raising taxes on them too.

Gee, isn’t the government’s compassion and generosity of spirit just wonderful. 😦

We are from the Obama Administration and we are here to help you… 🙂

And I haven’t mentioned Obama’s “green” environmental initiatives… 🙂

Isn’t he just the best President ever…. He cares so much… 😦

Deficit of Understanding

“We have more than a deficit of dollars right now,” Obama said. “We face a deficit of trust.”

That’s True.

I don’t Washington D.C in general, and Democrats in specific.

And the last year doesn’t inspire any trust.

Oh Health Care:

“The longer it was debated, the more skeptical people became,” Obama said. “I take my share of the blame for not explaining it more clearly to the American people. And I know that with all the lobbying and horse-trading, this process left most Americans wondering what’s in it for me?”

I know what was in it for me, Higher Taxes, Government control, and less quality and quantity of care.

That’s why I still object to it.

But we do have Democrat in-fighting:

“We have to wait for the House of Lords to do their contemplating,” said Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y. “We’re also not getting much guidance from the mother ship about what the White House really wants and what they’re prepared to push for.”

Rep. Marion Berry, D-Ark., who is retiring at the end of the year, said of Obama what some Americans have said all year, “‘You’re trying to do too much too quickly.'”

“Maybe we should listen to them,” Berry said. “If we don’t listen to them, then they will make you listen to them in November.” (UK Guardian)

Ya Think? 🙂

Newly Elected VA Governor Bob McDonnell: “It was Thomas Jefferson who called for “A wise and frugal Government which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry ….and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned…”

But our president is a creature of Ideology.

It was filled with old ideas, campaign cliches, and frequent use of personal pronoun, “I.”  That’s the Obama pattern.

The chief takeaway from 70 minutes of presidential oratory was that Obama doesn’t intend to move to the center.  Should we have been surprised?  Not at all.  Obama is no Bill Clinton.  He’s an ideologically committed liberal.

Obama voiced concern about the lack of trust by Americans in their government.  But he didn’t help matters by repeating discredited (or at least less than believable) claims about his policies.  He said that 2 million more people would be jobless today were it not for his economic stimulus bill.  Not much empirical evidence for that claim.  And he said his health care legislation would actually reduce the deficit.  Please!  Everyone knows this is the result of transparent accounting tricks and, in truth, ObamaCare would increase the deficit by hundreds of billions.

It was nice to hear the president praise innovation.  He said his administration had spent a record amount on basic research, which is good.  Then he outlined a series of steps to promote innovation. Guess what?  They were all things that government would do, which is bad.  Unleash the private sector?  He didn’t mention that. (Fred Barnes)

After all, Government is vastly superior to the evil capitalist private sector!!

And he was still talking about Climate change legislation! Is he nuts!??

No. Just a very committed Idealogue that wants to sound like something he isn’t.

Like listening to the American People.

I’m not surprised at all.

The White House insists that the new wave of populism created by Democratic governance is, in fact, the same populist wave that carried Obama to victory in 2008. In other words, Obama was elected president by the backlash against his own presidency.

This novel theory allows Obama to stick to his view that there’s nothing wrong with his health-care plan, and anyone who feels differently hasn’t heard or understood the president’s explanations.

So, he not only implored Democrats not to “run for the hills” on the health-reform bill, but insisted that as “temperatures cool,” hot-tempered opponents will, of course, realize they were wrong about the bill.

Obama began his presidency insisting that government is the answer to our problems. A year later, he still believes that the era of big government is upon us. (NY Post)

So backlash against him in Massachusetts is the same backlash that got him elected because of George W. Bush, so he was right all along and should continue doing what he has been doing because the backlash against him is not hi, it’s George W. Bush??

Really?? 😦  My head hurts from that Doublethink.

He decried the politicians who are in “permanent campaign” mode — the same week he brought into the White House his campaign manager.

Other politicians are vain, cowardly and insubstantial. They need the courage to change. Meanwhile, Obama is great the way he is.

That is the attitude that has gotten the president in so much trouble. And last night’s State of the Union speech showed us that change really isn’t easy, particularly for the president. (NY Post)

The Greatness that is Me.

Ugh…where’s that barf bag….

This from Mr. “Tinkle up my leg”.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: “He is post-racial by all appearances. You know, I forgot he was black tonight for an hour. You know, he’s gone a long way to become a leader of this country and passed so much history in just a year or two.”

<<excuse for a moment. I have to use the barf bag….>>

HEALTH CARE REFORM NEEDS A DOCTOR

Pelosi told Politico this week that she might attempt some piecemeal changes in the health system and try comprehensive reform again later. The thinking is that if Americans just cool down, they will accept a massive transformation of the finest health care system in the world.

But the studies indicating thousands of dollars more in premiums, new regulations forcing employers to drop coverage and hard-hitting polls such as IBD/TIPP’s finding that 45% of doctors would consider retiring or quitting their practice if something resembling government care is passed, are factors unlikely to go away.

As I said previously, it suffered a near-fatal heart attack, but Washington Politicians do have the best Medical Care in the World, so it will be back. 😦

And as the President said last night, “I don’t quit”

He also doesn’t really moderate his radicalism, he just wants to sound like he is.

Nothing new there.

“We’re going to give them (The Republicans) another chance to become part of this government,” one of the president’s top advisers said at a briefing before the speech. (liberal blog of EJ Dionne Jr)

So the time-out in the corner is over and they come back and play with the rest of the kids as long as they are nice and agree with us on everything.

Where’s that barf bag…

Gov. McDonnell: “The amount of this debt is on pace to double in five years, and triple in ten. The federal debt is already over $100,000 per household.
This is simply unsustainable. The President’s partial freeze on discretionary spending is a laudable step, but a small one.
The circumstances of our time demand that we reconsider and restore the proper, limited role of government at every level.
Without reform, the excessive growth of government threatens our very liberty and prosperity.”

Amen, Governor.

But Washington D.C. is still not listening. And our President most certainly did not hear us clearly.

But he wants to sound like it.

In particular, Obama said he would use an executive order to create a bipartisan commission to devise a plan for reducing the growing federal debt. The Senate recently defeated a bill by Democratic Sen. Kent Conrad of North Dakota and Republican Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire to set up such a panel. (CNN)

It was defeated by Democrats and Republicans, by the way.

Nothing new here…move along…

President Obama gets the last word today, “We were sent here to serve our citizens, not our ambitions. So let’s show the American people that we can do it together.”
