Eating is Racist, Seriously…

Looks like the next time you’re really craving Chinese you’re going to get a side order of ‘racist’ from the far-left.

Insanely left-wing website “Everyday Feminism” has written a guide titled “Being a Foodie Without Being Culturally Appropriative”.

From Everyday Feminism:

Cultural appropriation is when members of a dominant culture adopt parts of another culture from people that they’ve also systematically oppressed. The dominant culture can try the food and love the food without ever having to experience oppression because of their consumption.

With food, it isn’t just eating food from someone else’s culture. It might not be appropriation if you’re White and you love eating dumplings and hand pulled noodles. Enjoying food from another culture is perfectly fine.

But, food is appropriated when people from the dominant culture – in the case of the US, white folks – start to fetishize or commercialize it, and when they hoard access to that particular food.

It’s also harmful when the dominant culture controls the economic and material resources to produce that food for their own consumption and profit.

So it’s capitalism that’s evil as well. Gee, never saw that coming… 🙂

While food from Western Europe is still connected to ethnic roots, ethnic food has become reserved only for ethnicities that are perceived as exotic and foreign to White folks.

This is where her Social Justice Warrior seeing racism everywhere overpowered the dish like too much salt or garlic.

For example, what is now Vietnam had been occupied by China for a thousand years and then colonized by France. This period of colonization is also what led to things like banh mi (sandwiches) and banh ex (crepes). The use of spam in different parts of Asia and the Pacific Islands, like spam musabi or spam in hot pot, are a direct result of US colonization.

If you love a dish and think it’s delicious, great! If you’re searching for a place that serves a particular dish, also great!

However, seeking “authenticity” fetishizes the sustenance of another culture. The idea of the “authentic” food experience is separated from reality. It also freezes a culture in a particular place in time.

What hilarious is that ANOTHER group of Social Justice Warriors were wanting people fired for NOT serving a Banh Mi on the traditional French Bread and called THAT “cultural appropriation”.

So even the Social Justice Warriors think each other positions are a “cultural misappropriation”.

Oberlin College: The traditional Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwich that Stevenson Dining Hall promised turned out to be a cheap imitation of the East Asian dish. Instead of a crispy baguette with grilled pork, pate, pickled vegetables and fresh herbs, the sandwich used ciabatta bread, pulled pork and coleslaw.

“It was ridiculous,” Nguyen said. “How could they just throw out something completely different and label it as another country’s traditional food?”

Nguyen added that Bon Appétit, the food service management company contracted by Oberlin College, has a history of blurring the line between culinary diversity and cultural appropriation by modifying the recipes without respect for certain Asian countries’ cuisines. This uninformed representation of cultural dishes has been noted by a multitude of students, many of who have expressed concern over the gross manipulation of traditional recipes.

So she’s “cultural misappropriating” her own “cultural misappropriations”. 🙂

Food culture gets re-colonized by chefs seeking to make that “authentic” street food they tried more elegant. Often, these restaurants are inaccessible to the communities they’re appropriating from.

Quinoa, which is native to Bolivia is now too expensive for communities there. Last year, Whole Foods declared collard greens the “new kale.” Coconuts have now been packaged as high end, luxury water. Tofu, soy, and tempeh are now staples at organic, healthy food markets.

It’s all white, rich people’s fault that Quinoa is one of the few complete grains on the planet.

Essentially, the health food craze is racist and oppressive. 🙂  (but only to White People…and she’s not a “racist” for that either 🙂 )

This is food gentrification, where communities can no longer afford their own cuisines and sustain their traditions.

That’s how messed up in the head these people are.

So, if you wish to broaden your horizons and become open to other ethnicities through their unique food in the form of appreciation or celebration, you will be condemned as exploitative (if you’re part of that “white folk” group anyway). Presumably, the left would like “white folk” to eat only “white folk” food.

Whatever the F8ck that is…

Back to The Rebel:

We managed to stomach up the will-power to go through the ‘guide’ so you don’t have to. (I did though) Hat tip to Daily Wire.

It begins by saying, “Mainstream media has made a spectacle out of foods from seemingly exotic places. I’ve also observed a lot of White chefs create “Asian-inspired” dishes. When going out to eat, I notice many “Asian-fusion” themed restaurants where chefs combine all the countries and flavors in the vast and diverse continent of Asia and throw them together on both plate and menu.”

Sounds like the embodiment of tossed salad multiculturalism. Does the left have a problem with that all of a sudden?

The writer, Rachel Kuo, continues a few paragraphs down, “It’s frustrating when my culture gets consumed and appropriated as both trend and tourism.”

She rambles on, “When it comes to food, what’s appropriation and what’s not can be tricky to think about. Cultural appropriation is when members of a dominant culture adopt parts of another culture from people that they’ve also systematically oppressed. The dominant culture can try the food and love the food without ever having to experience oppression because of their consumption.”

So, you got all that? Trying tasty ethnic food is bad because you’ve never experienced oppression. I guess we should just let sushi and Mexican places go out of business.

Well, they are not only capitalist but “exploitative”!! Evil!! 🙂

VIDEO: “Modern Educayshun” perfectly mocks Social Justice Warriors

“But, food is appropriated when people from the dominant culture – in the case of the US, white folks – start to fetishize or commercialize it, and when they hoard access to that particular food. When a dominant culture reduces another community to it’s cuisine, subsumes histories and stories into menu items – when people think culture can seemingly be understood with a bite of food, that’s where it gets problematic.”

I watch a lot of Food Porn then, because I love The Food Network. The Playboy Channel for food “exploitation”. 🙂

Since when do only white people eat ethnic food? Can black people not like Asian food?

She then proceeds on with the ‘guide’ providing a step-by-step process of how not to be a racist when wanting to eat.

Step four titled “loving the food, not the people” states, “America has corporatized “Middle Eastern food” like hummus and falafel, and some people might live by halal food carts, but not understand or address the ongoing Islamophobia in the US.”

Is there no hope for intelligence from these people? Probably not. Me being and old white guy means I’m already evil so my opinion is worthlessn to these nutters.

Needless to say, this guide is a good way to lose your appetite if you’re trying to lose weight. (The Rebel).

Now I can truly say without reservation, The Left makes me sick and wants me to lose my lunch… 🙂

This is racist: (and if you don’t make it 100% “authentic” that too is racist! 🙂

Enjoy 🙂

Yoga is Racist

Back in November, Ottawa U banned its free Yoga class because of ‘cultural appropriation’. Now, it’s returned. But something – or rather, someone is missing.

Jennifer Scharf, a white woman, had been teaching the free class since 2008. When she got the news last year that the class had been canceled she was shocked and saddened.

“People are just looking for a reason to be offended by anything they can find,” she said.

The decision to cancel the class came from student leaders. Staff at the Centre for Students with Disabilities said in an email that “while yoga is a really great idea and accessible and great for students … there are cultural issues of implication involved in the practice… Yoga has been under a lot of controversy lately due to how it is being practiced.”

Now the class is back with an Indian teacher, Priya Shah.

Priya Shah is the new teacher for the return of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa's free yoga class at its Centre for Students with Disabilities. She says she wasn't told what kind of class she should teach and hadn't heard about the class's controversial review until last week.
Canadian of Indian Descent. Much more appropriate than a nasty, evil, opressive, white person!

Shah told the state broadcaster, “Nothing was brought to my attention to teach in a different way or do something differently than the other instructor because none of that was really mentioned to me.”

Because that’s not what matters.

She said she wonders if she was hired because she’s Indian.

WELL, HELL YEAH!!!!!!! 🙂

Shah says she grew up in Calgary and only visited India once. She was there for five months.

But she’s the right cultural heritage and looks the part, so who gives a crap about the rest.
“There are many people in my family who practice but I’ve never had the thought that since I’m Indian that I’m a better yoga teacher,” she added.

BUT You are “better” because your “culturally appropriate”. The PC CROWD is HAPPY. That’s all that matters, right? 🙂

“I haven’t taught a class for students with disabilities before but my approach is going to be to just teach to the best of my ability. I want to make it about focusing on the student’s ability and getting them to do the breathing exercises and postures to their best potential,” she said.

“I’m just hoping to have a well-rounded class that’s accessible to anyone.” (CBC)

Yeah, the one who had 7 years of experience got fired for being White. 🙂

The former/ousted Yoga teacher, Jennifer Scharf heard the news that class was brought on. She suggested that the left-wing students are to blame for her not being rehired because she called them social justice warriors.

Well, they are. Truth hurts.

According to The National Post, Scharf wrote about the situation in a blog post.

“I heard today that my old yoga class is back on. Maybe since I called my foes ‘SJW’s’ and then refused to speak the word ‘intersectionality’ with people who don’t even have a cursory understanding of the term, the student centre has decided to hire a teacher of South Indian descent.”

Regardless of the situation, Scharf has other things she’s working on, such as a book and teaching other classes. “I wouldn’t say I need this class. I would love to teach it again but if they’re happier with someone else, what I care about is the class happening.”

The fact that Scharf was not offered back her position is quite troubling. The fact that an Indian woman was hired isn’t the problem; it’s that they never reached out to the former instructor. It shows that the student leaders didn’t learn their lesson when the news that they had banned yoga received international attention for all the wrong reasons.

Of course they learned absolutely nothing. PC Social Justice Warriors are the Holiest of The Holy. They are so far above us mere mortals in their “enlightenment” that they couldn’t possibly have learned anything from us grubby, dirty, nasty, inferior Neanderthals!

They were Holy and they got their way. What’s there to learn? Other than they were right??

It should have been an embarrassing wake-up call. It wasn’t. They’re still fast asleep in lala land.

Instead it just re-affirmed their Holy Purpose. They are the screaming, whining 2 year old who got their pet Indian.

The student leaders are as politically correct and mindless as ever. They believe in this ‘cultural appropriation’ nonsense and can’t smell the shame dripping off of them.

Because they themselves are totally shameless. They are impervious to it. They have a holy mission and they are warriors of justice! 🙂

They’re the joke everyone else in the room is laughing at and they still don’t get it. (The Rebel)

More likely the class doesn’t know or care.

Here’s why: 1) They never told then newbie

“My biggest concern is that the student centre did not tell (Shah) about the context of the situation.”

2) After all the Neanderthals (that’s us) got mad at them they did the usual PC mea culpa:

Neither the CSD nor the student federation responded to multiple requests for comment.

After the initial story, the federation backtracked from its original position.

In a since-deleted statement on its Facebook page, the student group said an email exchange between Scharf and student officials, which contained the references to “cultural appropriation” cited in the Sun report, was “outdated” and led to a lot of miscommunication about our program.”

However, the revised SFUO statement cited declining attendance as the primary reason for the suspension and subsequent program review. (Ottawa Sun)

You morons “misunderstood” us Yet again when we went all Social Justice PC on you for your own good!

We always “misunderstand” or “misquote” them when WE get mad at THEM for their Political Correctness. It’s our fault that our limited little Neanderthal brains can’t comprehend their ‘enlightened’ superiority, after all. 🙂

My Banh Mi is A Microagression!

Today’s tale is about spoiled brat Liberals who think their college cafeteria food is racist and ‘culturally misappropriates’ General Tso and others.

Yes, folks, it’s that idiotic.

Mind you, back in my day of the early 1980’s we great college dorm food.

We had “Australian Horse Burgers”, “Manhole Covers”, “Tennis Ball” soft “boiled” eggs, and If you didn’t like the Beef Stroganoff it showed up as the Soup of The Day for the next 2 Days.

The closest we’d ever get to a Banh Mi was  “Ban Me” because it so bad. 🙂

Real Gourmet stuff.

I was dining at The French Laundry every day.

Trust me, it wasn’t even remote close, so that’s why we made fun of it.

But now a days if your Sushi is a bit less than something prepared by Iron Chef Masahara Morimoto then its ‘racist’ and ‘insensitive’ to the culture.

They really have it tough these days. 😦

The political correctness wars on our college campuses have entered the cafeteria. That’s right. Food could become the next issue, as college administrators have found themselves under siege by privileged, left wing college students bellowing about racial insensitivity or other fake paradigms of oppression.

Robby Soave, an editor at Reason and columnist for the Daily Beast, wrote about how cultural appropriation has entered the Oberlin cafeteria, where some students are alleging that the kitchen staff is engaging in microaggressions of epic proportions because they can’t prepare an ethnic dish properly. Soave takes this claim to the woodshed:

… [H]ere’s what one Oberlin student had to say about the dining hall’s sushi bar:“When you’re cooking a country’s dish for other people, including ones who have never tried the original dish before, you’re also representing the meaning of the dish as well as its culture,” student Tomoyo Joshi told The Oberlin Review. “So if people not from that heritage take food, modify it and serve it as ‘authentic,’ it is appropriative.”

This PC idiot has no clue just how stupid he sounds. Next thing you know Po’ Boys are not only racially insensitivity (The Po’ part) but insensitive Caribbeans and The French!

Imagine being culturally insensitive to The French. 🙂

Not to mention that it’s origins are rooted in 3 different cultures coming together and borrowing from each one!

THE HORROR!!!!

This idiot has no grasp of history, but he is obsessed with Political Correctness. Scary.

It also appears from one Local News report that the Vegetarians started this because HORROR, someone accidentally  put meat in a Vegetarian Dish. We all know this was a concerted plot and it’s a vast Right Wing Conspiracy right?

Cultural appropriation, readers will recall, allegedly occurs when people borrow the traditions of another ethnic or religious group.

Then he’s going to burn himself out because every culture everywhere is a mix of traditions borrowed from other cultures!

He’s going to be a very busy little PC Zombie.

For some reason, too many otherwise liberal kids think cultural transformation is a kind of genocide—different societies have a right to stay exactly the way they are, untouched by modernity, they think.

But they are just plain wrong: Blending the best elements of different social traditions and creating something new (and possibly more fascinating) is praiseworthy and progressive. Maybe Oberlin’s banh mi sandwich should be judged not by how closely it apes the original, but whether it tastes as good?

Unfortunately, the cafeteria is not the only place where Oberlin students want a kind of cultural-appropriation-free safe space. The desire to re-enforce traditional cultural boundaries also manifests itself in a new list of demands recently released by black students.

Liberal students at a Canadian university, for example, recently shut down a free yoga class for disabled students because yoga has its origins in Hinduism, meaning it doesn’t belong to white people and they shouldn’t practice it. This kind of thinking is actually bafflingly illiberal—who’s to say that culture itself belongs to anyone?—and yet it’s usually left-leaning students waging weirdly nativist campaigns of forced isolation on foreign cuisines and customs.

This is more of that “tolerance” and “diversity” that the Left is so proud of, mind you.

The culinary critics at Oberlin, however, aren’t just mad that the cafeteria has appropriated their culture—they’re mad that it’s been appropriated poorly.

“It was ridiculous,” student Diep Nguyen told The Oberlin Review (the “it,” in question was a Banh Mi sandwich with the wrong bun). “How could they just throw out something completely different and label it as another country’s traditional food?”

HOW DARE YOU! YOU’VE BEEN CHOPPED!

For one thing, the Banh Mi sandwich is itself the product of the blurring of cultural boundaries: French and Vietnamese.

Like the Politically Correct Crybaby Generation gives a crap!

For another, there’s something deliciously ironic about Oberlin students—some of the most privileged people in the world, as evidenced by the $50,000 they pay annually in tuition—whining about the bun-thickness of meals prepared by lowly paid cafeteria workers. As academic and writer Fredrik de Boer noted on Twitter, “When you’re defending the cultural authenticity of GENERAL TSO’S CHICKEN, you’re a living Portlandia sketch.”

Especially, since it’s a Westernize version of Hunan Chinese Dish to begin with ya Cry Babies! Geez, get a clue before you go all Food Police on us.

Oh, that’s right, Liberals don’t care about ACTUAL history just their Agenda history.

Your blood pressure is going through the roof over buns? First of all, as Soave noted, this is a college cafeteria, not Dorsia.

And certainly not La Bernadine, you whinny ass little twonks!

Jean Georges is not your Dorm Chef you elitist crapholes!

They’re not serving up sea urchin ceviche, nor are they serving anything that takes an exorbitant amount of time. Why? They have over 3,000 kids to feed three times a day. The kitchen staff needs to make something good and fast.

And compared to my day, it’s a Michelin Star Restaurnt ya whinners!

At my alma mater, Dickinson College, there was a wok station that I avoided because it wasn’t very good.

A Wok! My cafeteria at Central Michigan University wouldn’t even known what one was, let one how to use it. They couldn’t even do simple dishes right that’s why we made fun of it because that horribleness was all we had to eat and we paid for it!

“Thank you, sir, may we have another!”

I never for a second thought the school’s kitchen staff, or administration, was telling Asian students to go screw themselves. No one ever complained about cultural appropriation in the cafeteria. We had other things to worry about, like assignments for class, writing papers, and studying for exams.

Real world stuff, not whiny PC bullshit!

College campuses have always been bastions of liberalism. This isn’t a new phenomena, but the direction in which advocacy is facilitated by the left in these arenas has become indiscriminately insane. Food is the new front in the PC wars.

Students have every right to make unreasonable demands—even if those demands are as ridiculous as racially-sensitive banh mi sandwhiches and racially-segregated safe spaces. But they deserve every drop of criticism they get in return.

Is this a serious narrative? Luckily, Young America’s Foundation released a poll that offers a glimmer of hope, where half of the students polled prefer a smaller government, seven-in-ten reject Black Lives Matter, and a majority aren’t that thrilled with the whole microaggression culture. (townhall and Daily Beast)

So there is a New Hop in cracking the PC Imperial Forces?

Holiday placemats for Social Justice

The Libs got caught with their hand in the Orwellian Cookie Jar again. But don’t worry, they ‘meant well’ so its not their fault and they won’t learn a blessed thing from this screw up. 🙂

Harvard apologized this week after people complained about the social justice placemats the College’s Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion passed out.

The university apologized on Wednesday for the “Holiday Placemats for Social Justice,” a misguided attempt to help students navigate winter break with curious family members after a tumultuous semester at many colleges nationwide.

Misguided. Misconstrued. Misquoted. Misinterpreted.

MISSED THE POINT ALL TOGETHER!! 🙂

The placemat provides “tips for talking to families” so you can explain 1) why black students aren’t “complaining,” they’re protesting at colleges for safe environments, 2) why the U.S. should take in Syrian refugees, 2) why Harvard changed the house “master” title, and 4) why white people don’t get the same treatment as black people do by the police.

Placemat

Naturally, they won’t take their OWN “sagely” and “tolerant” advice.

In the middle of the placemat, there are more general tips for talking to family members: “listen, breathe, ask, affirm and speak.”

The placemats offered helpful responses like: “When I hear students expressing their experiences of racism on campus, I don’t hear complaining. Instead I hear young people uplifting a situation that I might not experience.”

You white male privilege asshole! (who has a White Male Asshole of RICH father who can afford to send their little cherub of Liberal Joy to Harvard in the first place!).

Their parents dropped $200k on tuition and all they  got was a lousy placemat!!

Now, that struck many people as liberal coddling, and a Harvard Crimson column argues that the diversity office should be addressing such issues “in a less shallow and simplistic manner.”

It continues:

The handout shamefully parallels a similar tendency among activists to conflate well-meaning people who have the audacity to hold contrary opinions with racists and demagogues. Either you toe the party line, or your justifications don’t matter because you are too white, too male, or too privileged in some other way. Opponents of Yale activism are portrayed as racist, and those with concerns about Syrian refugees are painted as Islamophobic.

Even for those of us who agree with the handout on all its issues, this is an area for concern. There must be debate on these issues, at Harvard’s tables and in our homes. Presenting unglorified talking points not only wrongly attempts to stifle debate, but also stands in stark contradiction to the mission of the College to transform students “with exposure to new ideas, new ways of understanding, and new ways of knowing.”

In a column for The Harvard Crimson , student Idrees M. Kalhoon pointed out that the text for the placemats was taken word-for-word from a similar credited poster created by the group Showing Up for Racial Justice, whose aim is to move “white people to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability.”

Stop being Racists! you white privilege bastards! 🙂

Rich kids with too much “diversity” on their hands.

Amid a national storm of college protests over racism, Harvard University released a “diversity report” that called for sweeping administrative changes on campus. That very same day, someone put tape over the faces of black professors in their law school portraits.

The act was a disheartening reminder that protesters still have a lot of work to do.

Rinne-Julie Fruster, an organizer from Lasell College, in Newton, Mass., said there’s a misconception in higher education that students of color shouldn’t complain because they’re privileged to even be getting a degree.

“It’s good to hear from students at many different schools who feel that way, that they’ve been silenced by the privilege we’re seeing as having,” she said, “and who can speak out against it.”

But the power students earned in the past has gradually been eroded over time, Johnston said. Students need to win it back by making demands like the one recently launched by Boston College activists, who want students represented on the hiring committee for the school’s new executive director of the Office of Institutional Diversity.

“When students want more power in the universe, they have to fight not only to get it, but also to keep it,” he said. “So that’s something they’ll have to consider to not repeat what happened in the past.” (Boston.com)

Thanks for nothing, MLK! 🙂

And apparently the placemats got such blowback that Harvard had to issue a statement apologizing:

December 16, 2015

Dear Harvard College students,

We write to acknowledge that the placemat distributed in some of your dining halls this week failed to account for the many viewpoints that exist on our campus on some of the most complex issues we confront as a community and society today. Our goal was to provide a framework for you to engage in conversations with peers and family members as you return home for the winter break, however, it was not effectively presented and it ultimately caused confusion in our community. On behalf of the Office of Student Life and the Freshman Dean’s Office, we offer our sincere apologies for this situation.

Academic freedom is central to all that Harvard College stands for. To suggest that there is only one point of view on each of these issues runs counter to our educational goals. We appreciate the feedback that we have received about this initiative. Moving forward we will, with your continued input, support the growth and the development of independent minds.

Sincerely,

Stephen Lassonde
Dean of Student Life

Thomas Dingman
Dean of Freshmen

So endeth the lesson they won’t learn.

as Ron White says “You can fix just about anything, but you can not fix stupid.” or ‘well-intentioned’ poltical correctness. 🙂

It’s Worse than We Thought

Political Cartoons by Michael Ramirez
It’s reality but not as we know it

John Hawkins: How radical, weird and out of touch have liberals on college campuses gotten since Obama came into office? It’s worse than you ever thought and although there is an almost unlimited number of problematic incidents to choose from, these 15 are particularly effective at getting across how bad things have become.

1) “College Students Say Remembering 9/11 Is Offensive to Muslims…. The everything-is-offensive brand of campus activism has struck a new low: Students at the University of Minnesota killed a proposed moment of silence for 9/11 victims due to concerns—insulting, childish concerns—that Muslim students would be offended.”

2) “Portland State University Offers Course Teaching How to ‘Make Whiteness Strange’…According to Portland State University Professor Rachel Sanders’ ‘White Privilege’ course, ‘whiteness’ must be dismantled if racial justice will ever be achieved. The course description states that ‘whiteness is the lynchpin of structures of racial meaning and racial inequality in the United States” and claims that ‘to preserve whiteness is to preserve racial injustice.’ Students taking the course will ‘endeavor to make whiteness strange.’ In order to make whiteness strange, the description says students must ‘interrogate whiteness as an unstable legal, political, social, and cultural construction.’”

3) “A University in the San Francisco Area Actually Told Students To Call 911 if They Were Offended….Administrators at a Catholic university in the San Francisco Bay Area have rescinded an official school policy instructing students to clog up the regional 9-1-1 emergency reporting system to report ‘bias incidents.’

The school is Santa Clara University, reports Campus Reform…Until this month, however, Santa Clara administrators have been instructing students to report ‘bias incidents’ using the emergency service reserved for dispatching police, firefighters and ambulances.

‘If the bias incident is in progress or just occurred: ALWAYS CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY,’ the Santa Clara website instructed students in fierce, all-capital letters.”

4) “Educators in the Volunteer State are very concerned that students might be offended by the usage of traditional pronouns like she, he, him and hers, according to a document from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

…For all you folks who went to school back when there were only him and her – here’s a primer: some of the new gender neutral pronouns are ze, hir, zir, xe, xem and xyr.”

5) “A Professor at Polk State College has allegedly failed a humanities student after she refused to concede that Jesus is a ‘myth’ or that Christianity oppresses women during a series of mandatory assignments at the Florida college. According to a press release from the Liberty Counsel, a non-profit public interest law firm, Humanities Professor Lance ‘Lj’ Russum gave a student a ‘zero’ on four separate papers because the 16-year-old did not ‘conform to his personal worldviews of Marxism, Atheism, Feminism, and homosexuality.’ The law firm has called for a full, private investigation of the professor and the course curriculum.”

6) “College Codes Make ‘Color Blindness’ a Microaggression…wait, what?…. UCLA says “Color Blindness,” the idea we shouldn’t obsess over people’s race, is a microaggression. If you refuse to treat an individual as a ‘racial/cultural being,’ then you’re being aggressive.”

7) “The phrase ‘politically correct’ is now a microaggression according to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The university’s ‘Just Words’ campaign is the work of UWM’s ‘Inclusive Excellence Center’ and aims to ‘raise awareness of microaggressions and their impact’—microaggressions like ‘politically correct’ or ‘PC.’”

8) ) “‘American,’ ‘illegal alien,’ ‘foreigners,’ ‘mothering,’ and ‘fathering’ are just a handful of words deemed ‘problematic’ by the University of New Hampshire’s Bias-Free Language Guide….Saying ‘American’ to reference Americans is also problematic. The guide encourages the use of the more inclusive substitutes ‘U.S. citizen’ or ‘Resident of the U.S.’ The guide also tries to get students to stop saying ‘Caucasian,’ ‘illegal Immigrant,’ ‘mother,’ ‘father’ and even the word ‘healthy’ is said to shame those who aren’t healthy.”

9) “Late yesterday afternoon, ACLJ filed a lawsuit on behalf of Brandon Jenkins against officials of The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in Maryland for denying Brandon admission to its Radiation Therapy Program in part due to his expression of religious beliefs. As one faculty member explained to Brandon, on behalf of CCBC, the ‘field [of radiation therapy] is not the place for religion.’”

10) “A California school co-founded by a firebrand who once called for an ‘intifada’ in the U.S. has become the nation’s first accredited Muslim college.”

11) “According to Coastal Carolina University, sex is only consensual if both parties are completely sober and if consent is not only present, but also enthusiastic. This is a troubling standard that converts many ordinary, lawful sexual encounters into sexual assault, and it should frighten any student at CCU.”

12) “Clemson University apologizes for serving Mexican food…Students took to Twitter to call the event culturally insensitive and to question the school’s efforts to promote diversity….Clemson Dining issued an apology to ‘offended’ students after hosting a ‘Maximum Mexican’ food day.”

13) “All-Women’s College Cancels ‘Vagina Monologues’ Because it Excludes Women Without Vaginas.”

14) “The ‘Black Lives Matter’ leader who landed a teaching gig at Yale University delivered a lecture this week on the historical merits of looting as a form of protest, backing up his lesson with required reading that puts modern-day marauders on par with the patriots behind the Boston Tea Party.”

15) “Assistant Dean (at Cornell) Tells a Project Veritas Investigative Journalist that the University Would Allow an ISIS Terrorist to Hold a ‘Training Camp’ on Campus, Saying: ‘It Would be Like Bringing in a Coach to do a Training on a Sports Team.'”

BE AFRAID of the Crybaby Generation, Be very Afraid.

Have Your Gay Cake & Get Eaten Too!

A conservative legal firm is accusing a member of the Colorado Civil Rights Commission of comparing a baker who refused to make a cake for a same-sex wedding to “slave owners and perpetrators of the Holocaust” in a new legal brief filed with a the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Part Two, below from Canada is even funnier: Lesbian Vs. Muslim in a  “Human Rights” Grudge Match!

The Alliance Defending Freedom, the firm representing Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips, the Christian baker who created a national controversy after refusing to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple, released a statement Monday that included controversial words attributed to civil rights commissioner Diann Rice

Rice’s purported comments were uttered during a commission hearing on July 25 last year and include the central claim that religion has, many times in the past, been used to harm and impede the rights of others.

“I would also like to reiterate what we said in … the last meeting [concerning Jack Phillips]. Freedom of religion and religion has been used to justify all kinds of discrimination throughout history, whether it be slavery, whether it be the Holocaust,” Rice said. “I mean, we can list hundreds of situations where freedom of religion has been used to justify discrimination. And to me it is one of the most despicable pieces of rhetoric that people can use – to use their religion to hurt others.”

So the Freedom Religion guaranteed in the First Amendment of the US Constitution is “discriminatory” and “despicable rhetoric”.

This is the Human Rights Education Association’s definition of slavery:

“To be a slave is to be controlled by another person or persons so that your will does not determine your life’s course, and rewards for your work and sacrifices are not yours to claim.”

Sounds like the Baker, to me. With the Gay Mafia and the Courts as the slave master.

Oh, as for that pesky Freedom of Speech & The Press, we turn to Andrea Mitchell- NBC NEWS:

“So why is it permissible to be as provocative as these anti-Muslim cartoons were?” Andrea Mitchell NBC News asked The French Ambassador about the Paris Terrorist attacks, before ominously adding, “This is a debate we’re having in the United States as well, you know.”
Yeah, why do you permit freedom of speech (offending someone) and freedom of the press? That’s debatable? Really??
These are “journalists” from the “news” Media whose freedom comes from the same place as yours does. Maybe we should debate still having it.

So let’s face it, to a Liberal The First Amendment is “offensive” and “discriminatory” and should just be gotten rid of altogether. 🙂

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY!

Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Jeremy Tedesco said in a statement that these ideals reflect “alarming bias and hostility” toward Phillips’ religious beliefs and are specifically troubling in that they come from a member of a governmental commission that monitors how the baker can conduct his business in light of his faith.

“Commissioner Rice compared a private citizen who owns a small bakery to slaveholders and Holocaust perpetrators merely for asking that the state respect his right to free speech and free exercise of religion,” Tedesco said. ”Her comments suggest that others on the commission may share her view. This anti-religious bigotry undermines the integrity of the entire process and the commission’s order as well.”

As TheBlaze has previously reported, problems began for Phillips after he declined to make a wedding cake for Dave Mullins and Charlie Craig, a gay couple who approached him in 2012; they subsequently waged a complaint against Phillips, which has led to a legal battle over his refusal.

Phillips told TheBlaze last June that he had no intention of providing confectionery services for gay and lesbian weddings even after Colorado’s Civil Rights Commission upheld a judge’s ruling that the baker was wrong to deny making the cake.

“I’m not going to make cakes for same-sex weddings,” he told TheBlaze at the time. “That violates my First Amendment speech … and my duty as a Christian abiding by my savior.”

Phillips said that he stopped taking all wedding cake orders last March, just three months after Judge Robert N. Spencer of the Colorado Office of Administrative Courts ruled against him, finding that he must serve gay couples.

In addition to making told he must not discriminate when making wedding cakes, the commission also said that he needed to “re-educate his staff that Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act means that artists must endorse same-sex marriage regardless of their religious beliefs,” according to Alliance Defending Freedom.

The ever “tolerant” Left.

Additionally, Phillips will need to file quarterly reports for a period of two years to detail which patrons were declined service along with the reason for that decision.

So now you get also (and this one makes cynical heart laugh) From Toronto, Ontario (2012) – The pinch line is at the end from 2014.

Lesbian Vs. Muslim in a  “Human Rights” Grudge Match!

So a lesbian walks into a Muslim barbershop, and asks for a “businessmen’s haircut”.

It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it really happened, and now a government agency called the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario will hear her complaint.

Faith McGregor is the lesbian who doesn’t like the girly cuts that they do at a salon. She wants the boy’s hairdo.

Omar Mahrouk is the owner of the Terminal Barber Shop in Toronto. He follows Shariah law, so he thinks women have cooties. As Mahrouk and the other barbers there say, they don’t believe in touching women other than their own wives.

But that’s what multiculturalism and unlimited immigration from illiberal countries means. A central pillar of many immigrant cultures is the second-class citizenship of women and gays.

So if we now believe in multiculturalism, and that our Canadian culture of tolerance isn’t any better than the Shariah culture of sex crimes and gender apartheid, who are we to complain when Omar Mahrouk takes us up on our promise that he can continue to practise his culture — lesbian haircuts be damned?

He’s not the one who passed the Multiculturalism Act, and invited in hundreds of thousands of immigrants with medieval attitudes towards women and gays and Jews, etc. We did.

Mahrouk’s view is illiberal. But in Canada we believe in property rights and freedom of association — and in this case, freedom of religion, too.

But McGregor ran to the Human Rights Tribunal and demanded that Mahrouk give her a haircut.

In the past, human rights commissions have been a great ally to gay activists. Because, traditionally, gay activists have complained against Christians. And white Christians are the one ethnic identity group that human rights commissions don’t value, and that multiculturalism doesn’t include.

In recent years, Canadian human rights commissions have weighed a complaint about a women’s-only health club that refused a pre-operative transsexual male who wanted to change in the locker rooms.

They’ve ordered bed and breakfasts owned by Christian families to take in gay couples. They’ve censored pastors and priests who have criticized gay marriage. Gays win, because it’s a test of who is most outraged and offended.

But in the case of the Muslim barbers, the gay activists have met their match. If the test is who can be the most offended or most politically correct, a lesbian’s just not going to cut it.

Oh, McGregor is politically correct. But just not politically correct enough. It’s like poker.

A white, Christian male has the lowest hand — it’s like he’s got just one high card, maybe an ace. So almost everyone trumps him.

A white woman is just a bit higher — like a pair of twos. Enough to beat a white man, but not much more.

A gay man is like having two pairs in poker.

A gay woman — a lesbian like McGregor — is like having three of a kind.

A black lesbian is a full house — pretty tough to beat.

Unless she’s also in a wheelchair, which means she’s pretty much a straight flush.

The only person who could trump that would be a royal flush. If the late Sammy Davis Jr. — who was black, Jewish and half-blind — were to convert to Islam and discover he was 1/64th Aboriginal.

So which is a better hand: A lesbian who wants a haircut or a Muslim who doesn’t want to give it to her?

I’m betting on Mahrouk. And I predict that Muslim activists — not quiet barbers like Mahrouk, but professional Muslim busybodies — will start using human rights commissions more and more to push their way into places where they have no legal right, but where the human rights commissions are more than happy to engineer things for them, if they complain loud enough.

If I were a gay activist, I’d probably want to declare victory and shut down these human rights commissions right now.

In five years time, it won’t be gay activists forcing themselves into Christian B&Bs. It’ll be Muslim activists vetoing the gay pride parade.

Well, Sharia Law dictates I believe stoning these people to death. Now that’s quite a haircut… 🙂

But at least they were Politically Correct and “Multi-culturally sensistive” 🙂

Resolution: They bought each other off.

“Both Ms. McGregor and Mr. Mahrouk signed a confidentiality agreement that bars them from sharing any details — common practice when a conflict ends in mediation instead of moving on to an actual tribunal. But both expressed relief in the process.”

So the gay mafia lost this round and they used lawyers to force everyone to shut up about it.

“I probably wasn’t as stressed out as he was because I think there was more at stake for him,” Ms. McGregor said. “The resolution we came to I think is good. I’m satisfied with it,” she said, adding that she feels the process worked.

“I’m happy with the outcome.”

She got some legal “extortion” $$$$ no doubt. 🙂

When the story hit the media, Mr. Mahrouk declined to say much, but his colleague spoke with the Toronto Star:

“We live for our values. We are people who have values and we hold on to it. I am not going to change what the faith has stated to us to do. This is not extreme — this is just a basic value that we follow,” Karim Saaden, co-owner of the Terminal Barber Shop, told the paper. (Nationalpaper.com)

Funny, The Cake Baker said the same thing, only he’s “wrong”. 🙂

Fascinating.

Fear & Loathing

Politically Correct Left Update:

The principal of a Brooklyn, N.Y. elementary school has reportedly pulled the song “God Bless the USA” from a kindergarten graduation ceremony so as not to offend other cultures, according to the New York Post.

The kindergartners had spent several months learning the song, which was set to close out the program, until P.S. 90 principal Greta Hawkins came into a recent rehearsal and told teachers to scrap it.

“We don’t want to offend other cultures,” teachers quoted Hawkins as saying, according to the Post.

Teachers and parents were reportedly shocked by Hawkins’ decision, particularly because the Lee Greenwood song has been sung at school events in the past — and because a rendition of Justin Bieber’s song “Baby” was kept in the program.

Kindergarten mother Luz Lozada told the Post “God Bless the USA” got a standing ovation at last year’s fifth-grade graduation, and that the school’s immigrant parents, including those from Pakistan, Mexico and Ecuador, “love it.”

But New York’s Department of Education gave the Post a different reason for pulling the song: Hawkins thought the lyrics were “too grown up” for 5-year-olds to sing — though Bieber’s were apparently fine.

According to the Post, the Education Department is supporting Hawkins’ decision.

“The lyrics are not age-appropriate,” spokeswoman Jessica Scaperotti said.

It’s not the first time “God Bless the USA” has attracted controversy: In April, a Massachusetts elementary school made headlines after students were taught to sing “We love the U.S.A.“ instead of ”God bless” before ultimately backing down. (The Blaze)

Another one: Last year, a sixth-grader from Fremont, Nebraska, was banned from wearing her rosary-like necklace at school. Now, months later, another religious flap is unfolding in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, where 15-year-old Jake Balthazor has been told that he cannot wear the rosary he purchased to support his cancer-stricken grandmother. In both instances, school officials’ fears that the necklaces would indicate gang membership were cited as the basis for the bans.

The school district’s policy forbids any “apparel, jewelry, accessories or matter of grooming which by virtue of its color arrangement, trademark or any other attribute denotes membership in an organized gang,” Mary Olson, director of communication for the Anoka-Hennepin School District, told FoxNews.com.

Meaning they can capriciously ban anything at anytime with this as the excuse whether it’s true or not.

School Liaison Officer: “I’m not Catholic, but I have been educated by friends that are and the rosary is not appropriate to use as jewelry or dress.”

Well, neither is the offender apparently. But don’t let lame excuses get in the way of Political Correctness.

What we really need is for Gangs to buy up the Obama T-shirts and use the “O” Logo as a gang sign. Then watch the little twerps squirm.

********

Self-Avowed Communist and Former Obama “Czar” Van Jones at annual Looney Left Convention, Netroots: “If the Tea Party is allowed to score a trifecta, their ideas already are corrupting the Supreme Court, you see that with Scalia’s antics, they already have half of the Congress. If they get the rest…and the White House…if the Tea Party governs America — if this time next year, you are living in a government run by the Tea Party — let me suggest to you that they might use power a little bit differently than we did. When they get power, they use it to decimate us…”

Decimating Communists and Orwellian Thought Police doesn’t sound so bad. 🙂

Jones also charged the Tea Party with “decapitating” unions. In the end, he went on to encourage progressives to push their values and to set their sights on December, when important budget issues will be under consideration.

That would Taxmageddon that occurs in January 2013. After all, the only solution is to raise Taxes (aka “revenues”). Cutting Spending is now apparently “decapitation”.

“The last election was a hope election,” he said. “This one might be a fear election. They’re scared of us. We should be terrified of them. When they get power they use it to decimate us. Look at what they did in the state houses. They didn’t run on destroying the unions. … They decapitated our unions.”

Van Jones, on ABC today, said the GOP 1) is rooting for failure and pain for America so they can capitalize on it, and 2) the GOP won’t pass their own bills to help America right now. (Townhall)

And if we want to talk about parties not passing their own bills, what about the Obama budget, which failed in the Democrat Senate two years running.

Remember, Republicans passing bills that the Democrats don’t like is “obstructing” the process. 🙂

“Obama’s a lifeguard trying to help people drowning. These guys are sitting back on the rock, hoping more people drown.“- Van Jones

Hope and Change, my friends. New Tone. Civility. Hope and Change. Forward… 🙂

The al Qaeda affiliate in Somalia has mocked the new $33 million bounty on its top leaders heads by offering its own bounty for President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – 10 camels for Obama and 20 chickens for Clinton.

“Anyone who helps the Mujahideen find the whereabouts of Obama and Hillary Clinton will be rewarded with 10 Camels to the information leading to Obama and 10 hens and 10 cocks for Hillary,” said senior Shabaab commander Fuad Mohamed Khalaf in a statement reported on numerous websites.

Earlier this week, the U.S. offered a total of $33 million through the State Department’s Rewards for Justice program for information leading to the capture of seven different Shabaab leaders, including Khalaf. (KFYI)

What to do with those Camels. Show them off on Google…

Spy planes able to photograph sunbathers in their back gardens are being deployed by Google and Apple.

The U.S. technology giants are racing to produce aerial maps so detailed they can show up objects just four inches wide.

But campaigners say the technology is a sinister development that brings the surveillance society a step closer.

Google admits it has already sent planes over cities while Apple has acquired a firm using spy-in-the-sky technology that has been tested on at least 20 locations, including London.

Apple’s military-grade cameras are understood to be so powerful they could potentially see into homes through skylights and windows. The technology is similar to that used by intelligence agencies in identifying terrorist targets in Afghanistan.

Drone attack on the rosary-wearing gang member… 🙂

Tea Party “terrorists” in sight….

Google will use its spy planes to help create 3D maps with much more detail than its satellite-derived Google Earth images.

Apple hopes its rumoured mapping service for the iPhone and iPad will overtake the hugely popular Google Maps

Nick Pickles, director of Big Brother Watch, warned that privacy risked being sacrificed in a commercial ‘race to the bottom’.

‘The next generation of maps is taking us over the garden fence,’ he warned. ‘You won’t be able to sunbathe in your garden without worrying about an Apple or Google plane buzzing overhead taking pictures.’

He said householders should be asked for their consent before images of their homes go online. Apple is expected to unveil its new mapping applications for its iPhone and other devices today – along with privacy safeguards. Its 3D maps will reportedly show for the first time the sides of tall buildings, such as the Big Ben clock tower.

Google expects by the end of the year to have 3D coverage of towns and cities with a combined population of 300million. It has not revealed any locations so far.

Current 3D mapping technology relies on aerial images taken at a much lower resolution than the technology Apple is thought to be using. This means that when users ‘zoom in’, details tend to be lost because of the poor image quality.

Google ran into trouble when it emerged that its Street View cars, which gathered ground-level panoramic photographs for Google Maps, had also harvested personal data from household wifi networks.

Emails, text messages, photographs and documents were taken from unsecured wifi networks all around Britain.

MILITARY TECHNOLOGY

Apple’s spy planes are believed to be equipped with technology developed by defence agencies to guide missile strikes.

Each plane is equipped with multiple cameras taking high-resolution photographs of buildings and landmarks from every possible angle, which are then compiled to make three-dimensional images.

The military-grade images are taken at a height of around 1,600ft, meaning people below are very unlikely to realise they are being photographed.

The cameras can be installed on planes, helicopters or even unmanned drones, although there are safety restrictions about the use of the latter in Britain.

A small plane carrying the cameras can photograph up to 100 square kilometres (38.6 square miles) every hour.

pugh

Google claimed it was a mistake even though a senior manager was warned as early as 2007 that the extra information was being captured. Around one in four home networks is thought to be unsecured because they lack password protection.

Little has been revealed about the technology involved in the spy planes used to capture the aerial images.

But they are thought to be able to photograph around 40 square miles every hour, suggesting they would be flying too quickly and at too great a height to access domestic wifi networks.
Like Google Maps, the resulting images would not be streamed live to computers but would provide a snapshot image of the moment the camera passed by.

Google pixellates faces and car number plates but faced criticism after its service showed one recognisable man leaving a sex shop and another being sick in the street.

Amie Stepanovich, of the Electronic Privacy Information Centre in America, said she believed Apple and Google would be forced to blur out homes in the same way Street View pixellates faces.

She said: ‘With satellite images, privacy is built in because you can’t zoom down into a garden. Homeowners need to be asked to opt in to show their property in high definition – otherwise it should be blurred out.’

Apple has previously used Google for its mapping services but last year it emerged it had bought C3 Technologies, a 3D mapping company that uses technology developed by Saab AB, the aerospace and defence company.

At the time C3 had already mapped 20 cities and it is believed to have added more with Apple’s backing. Its photographs have been shot from 1,600ft and one C3 executive described it as ‘Google on steroids’.

There are already 3D maps available online for most big city centres, but the images are often low resolution, meaning they are of little use for navigation and users cannot zoom in on detail.
Critics have argued that Apple and Google will face a backlash if they offer detailed 3D mapping of residential areas in suburbs and rural locations. (UK Daily Mail)

NOT SPECIAL

For those of you who have long since gotten sick of the trend among education experts toward “self esteem” rather than actual learning, this story will be extremely cathartic.
Wellesley High School teacher David McCullough, Jr. (son of historian David McCullough) had apparently had enough of feeding blithering platitudes to his students and decided to tell the truth. The result sparked controversy among the parents, who didn’t like hearing their children accused of being cosseted and pampered little brats who believed they were special for no reason. But sometimes the truth hurts. Read the greatest hits below:You are not special.  You are not exceptional.

Contrary to what your u9 soccer trophy suggests, your glowing seventh grade report card, despite every assurance of a certain corpulent purple dinosaur, that nice Mister Rogers and your batty Aunt Sylvia, no matter how often your maternal caped crusader has swooped in to save you… you’re nothing special.

Yes, you’ve been pampered, cosseted, doted upon, helmeted, bubble-wrapped.  Yes, capable adults with other things to do have held you, kissed you, fed you, wiped your mouth, wiped your bottom, trained you, taught you, tutored you, coached you, listened to you, counseled you, encouraged you, consoled you and encouraged you again.  You’ve been nudged, cajoled, wheedled and implored.  You’ve been feted and fawned over and called sweetie pie.  Yes, you have.  And, certainly, we’ve been to your games, your plays, your recitals, your science fairs.  Absolutely, smiles ignite when you walk into a room, and hundreds gasp with delight at your every tweet.  Why, maybe you’ve even had your picture in the Townsman!  [Editor’s upgrade: Or The Swellesley Report!] And now you’ve conquered high school… and, indisputably, here we all have gathered for you, the pride and joy of this fine community, the first to emerge from that magnificent new building…

But do not get the idea you’re anything special.  Because you’re not.[…]

“But, Dave,” you cry, “Walt Whitman tells me I’m my own version of perfection!  Epictetus tells me I have the spark of Zeus!”  And I don’t disagree.  So that makes 6.8 billion examples of perfection, 6.8 billion sparks of Zeus.  You see, if everyone is special, then no one is.  If everyone gets a trophy, trophies become meaningless.  In our unspoken but not so subtle Darwinian competition with one another-which springs, I think, from our fear of our own insignificance, a subset of our dread of mortality – we have of late, we Americans, to our detriment, come to love accolades more than genuine achievement.  We have come to see them as the point – and we’re happy to compromise standards, or ignore reality, if we suspect that’s the quickest way, or only way, to have something to put on the mantelpiece, something to pose with, crow about, something with which to leverage ourselves into a better spot on the social totem pole.  No longer is it how you play the game, no longer is it even whether you win or lose, or learn or grow, or enjoy yourself doing it…  Now it’s “So what does this get me?”  As a consequence, we cheapen worthy endeavors, and building a Guatemalan medical clinic becomes more about the application to Bowdoin than the well-being of Guatemalans.  It’s an epidemic – and in its way, not even dear old Wellesley High is immune… one of the best of the 37,000 nationwide, Wellesley High School… where good is no longer good enough, where a B is the new C, and the midlevel curriculum is called Advanced College Placement.  And I hope you caught me when I said “one of the best.”  I said “one of the best” so we can feel better about ourselves, so we can bask in a little easy distinction, however vague and unverifiable, and count ourselves among the elite, whoever they might be, and enjoy a perceived leg up on the perceived competition.  But the phrase defies logic.  By definition there can be only one best.  You‘re it or you’re not. (The Blaze)

You mean life isn’t “fair” and I’m “entitled”? Said it ain’t so! 🙂
