Veterans Day- “Diversity” Style

Apparently, honoring the military cannot include the most basic of patriotic symbols at a school in the Northwest. Seattle Pacific University, a Christian school, recently ruled that the “Students for Military Veterans Support” club could not present colors or say the pledge of allegiance at their Veterans Day ceremony due to “diversity.”

SPU released this statement:

“The organizers decided not to include the pledge of allegiance and the presentation of colors during the November 10 chapel, given that there are diversity of views on campus whether such elements should be part of a Christian worship service.”

Holding the ceremony in the campus chapel has allegedly caused an uproar amongst an anonymous group of students.
“At SPU there is a lot of diversity and different perspectives of faith,” Martin said, noting that there are some Christian perspectives that embrace pacifism. “They believe that anything associated with war is not something that Christians should be associated with. They wanted to voice their opinion about how that would make them feel uncomfortable in a chapel and that Christians should not be supporting a symbol of the state.” (MYNorthwest)

The PC Minority rules. That’s “diversity”. Ban it. I guess the meaning of the word “diversity” escapes their tiny little Orwellian feed minds.

Yeah, the warmongers might offend some pacifists! Ooooh. now that’s a reason to ban The Pledge of Allegiance that the veterans you allege to honor fought and died for!

Students for Military Veterans Support club member Daniel Fenlason thinks such a ruling is unfair:

“We should be able to pledge allegiance to the flag inside of our own church, in our own house of worship [for] the same people who died for that same right.” (MRC)

I guess they wanted an “Allah Ackbar” too, for diversity? 🙂

Commentor LeadRunner: Ok, folks, I am a vet, and I have always played by the rules, but this is enough. This is not what I served for. This is pure and utter bull sh!t and needs to come to an immediate halt. If what this country stands for is so offensive to these people, then they should just get out. Eventually, the real Americans are going to reach their limit and it will get very ugly, but we will return to some semblance of reality.

At the rate we’re going, it will be a crime one day soon to offend someone.

Isn’t already effective true. This was apparently self-censorship because of the massive PC environment that Big Brother Liberals had going as it is.

A Long Island mall puts Santa in a spaceship & removes a Christmas tree so as not to offend. Yale students are offended by Halloween costumes and demand the University provide them a “safe space.” The Univ. of Mizzou football team won’t play because they’re offended by something someone said on campus, and another university won’t allow someone who fought ISIS to speak on campus because pro ISIS students might be offended. (Walshfreedom)

BUT

The “Diversity Police” caved when pressured, which is what you have to do to the PC Police. You can’t give in.

95ksj.com: Local radio host Dori Monson publicly supported the club’s position on her show. “I am sick and tired of how all of society has to … cater to the vocal minority of the easily offended,” Dori said. “If they don’t like the flag and the pledge being part of this chapel — don’t attend the chapel. Don’t attend the ceremony. To deny everybody else, that is the tyranny of the minority imposing their will.”

Within hours of those comments the university changed course. “We regret that our initial decision about our Veterans Day service caused so much misunderstanding.

MISUNDERSTANDING!

MISUNDERSTANDING!

MY F*CKING ASS!

THERE WAS NO “MISUNDERSTANDING” about your PC “Diversity Police”. None whatsoever.

It was never our intent to dishonor our veterans or their service to our country,” the university said in a statement.”

Yeah, you just wanted to be Politically Correct, which is sickening enough as it is!!

Offending people is exactly what needs to be protected, not banned, you idiots!

The very essence of freedom is the freedom to offend people.

The freedom is what these veterans fought and died for you, you morons!

The Orwellian “Diversity Police” make me sick!

That Iranian Nuke Deal, The SitCom

Wanna know how that Nuke Deal with Iran is going? How well Obama and Kerry have “handled” it?

Ralph Kramden or Homer Simpson could have done a better job.

It doesn’t seem to matter what they do.
Obama’s going to go ahead with a meaningless treaty, regardless because that is The Agenda and like a bull in  China (or Iranian) shop he doesn’t care what the Iranians are actually doing it’s what HE’S doing that matters.

At least the Iranian lawmakers got to read the bill before they voted on it. How progressive of them!!

With some lawmakers chanting “Death to the America,” Iran’s parliament voted Sunday to ban access to military sites, documents and scientists as part of a future deal with world powers over its contested nuclear program.

The bill, if approved into law, could complicate the ongoing talks in Vienna between Iran and the six-nation group — the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany — as they face a self-imposed June 30 deadline. The talks are focused on reaching a final accord that curbs Iran’s nuclear program in return for the lifting of economic sanctions.

Of 213 lawmakers present on Sunday, 199 voted in favor of the bill, which also demands the complete lifting of all sanctions against Iran as part of any final nuclear accord. The bill must be ratified by the Guardian Council, a constitutional watchdog, to become a law.

The terms stipulated in the bill allow for international inspections of Iranian nuclear sites, but forbid any inspections of military facilities.

Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani read the bill aloud in a session broadcast live on state radio. It states in part, “The International Atomic Energy Agency, within the framework of the safeguard agreement, is allowed to carry out conventional inspections of nuclear sites.”

However it concludes that “access to military, security and sensitive non-nuclear sites, as well as documents and scientists, is forbidden.”

Mind you, this comes from the Israelis so Obama, the Agenda Anti-Semite will ignore it and just carry on because it’s WHAT HE WANTS that matters.

So what if it pointless, useless, and totally ridiculous he got it done when no one else could so that’s a success!!

You get Nukes, I get the Credit for a Deal. It’s a Win-Win!

He’s KGB. Old school.

He’s a Community Organizer who wants to slash the military and make everything “fair”.

In a cage match who’s going to get mauled? 🙂

President Barack Obama is warning Russia “there will be costs” for any military maneuvers it launches in Ukraine, a move U.S. and Ukrainian officials say they believe to be already underway.

What’s he going to do, wag his finger at them?

or as The 7th Doctor put in regards to defeating The Daleks, “I mean, what do you expect to do, talk to them sternly?”

Obama is so far out of his league and Putin has known this since day one.

Krauthammer thinks Obama’s statement is about “three levels removed” from actual action. He explained: Obama said “we will stand with the international community — meaning we are going to negotiate with a dozen other countries who will water down the statement — in affirming that there will be costs — meaning in making a statement not even imposing a cost, but in making a statement about imposing a cost — for any military intervention.”

Putin translation in to Russia: “Go For it!, we aren’t going to do anything!”

The Lighthouse on The Hill is officially shut down.

And we’re going to make massive cuts to the military and massive increases in Entitlements instead, because that’s what benefits ME.

And after all, it’s always been about ME.

And I’m  The MOST Arrogant Man in the World…

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

Don’t step over the line and re-militarize the Rhineland. Absorbing Austria would cross a red line. Breaking up Czechoslovakia is unacceptable. Get out of Poland by the announced deadline. The rest was history.

Don’t dare blow up another U.S. military barracks overseas. Don’t ever consider another attack on the World Trade Center. Don’t try blowing up one more American Embassy in East Africa. Don’t ever put a hole in a U.S. warship again. The rest was history.

President Obama issued yet another one of those sorts of warnings to stop the violence to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych just before protestors drove him out of office. “There will be consequences if people step over the line,” Obama threatened.

Obama Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes amplified that veiled warning. He called the Ukrainian government repression “completely outrageous” — as opposed to just outrageous or completely, completely outrageous.

Secretary of State John Kerry joined the chorus of condemnation by hinting at economic sanctions if Yanukovych didn’t stop his violent crackdown on protestors. Why does this rhetorical assault sound familiar?

Over the past five years, Obama has issued serial deadlines to Iran to cease and desist from its ongoing enrichment of uranium. All the while, more Iranian centrifuges went online.

Later, Obama turned from deadlines to red lines. He threatened Syrian President Bashar Assad with one about using chemical weapons. “A red line for us,” the president warned, “is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized.”

Assad moved over that red line, using chemical weapons to gas his own people, and is now winning the war against the insurgents. In the end, an embarrassed Obama was reduced to denying that he had never issued a red line in the first place: “I didn’t set a red line. The world set a red line.”

The administration’s latest cry of “outrageous” does not seem so absolute either. Remember, the president himself used that exact adjective to condemn the IRS scandal when it was revealed that the tax agency was inordinately focusing on conservative groups.

Later, after various key IRS officials invoked the Fifth Amendment, resigned or abruptly retired, Obama brushed off the scandal. It was, he said, mostly a media event conjured up by “outraged” journalists. Somehow, a scandal that the president once decried as institutional abuse ended up as a media melodrama perpetrated by unduly outraged reporters.

Will the Ukrainian mess now abate due to Kerry’s hints at sanctions?

Given Kerry’s loud global-warming sermonizing and the administration’s serial threats, bad actors abroad probably believe that burning too much coal is likelier to anger the U.S. than shooting protestors or gassing enemies.

After the Obama administration finally assembled a coalition of allies to impose tough sanctions against Iran, and after the trade embargoes began to bite the theocracy, Obama, without warning his coalition, abruptly relaxed those embargoes and entered into talks with the Iranians.

The message? Imposing sanctions is a difficult business. When they finally work, they are likely to be abruptly lifted if the squeezed nation sends out a few peace feelers and wants to feign appearing reasonable.

The U.S. has now shot so many rhetorical arrows that its quiver of indignation is empty — and the world’s troublemakers may know it.

An administration that ignores almost all of its own ObamaCare deadlines surely cannot expect others to abide by any timetables it sets abroad.

There may be no viable solutions to the violence in Syria or Ukraine. The messes in Egypt and Libya, the Chinese provocations to their neighbors, the North Korean lunacy and the spiraling violence in Venezuela certainly have no easy answers. But not knowing quite what to do is not the same as knowing certainly what not to do.

Although the U.S. alone seems to honor its promised deadlines for Afghanistan and Iraq withdrawals, the world’s aggressors sense the Obama bluster is predictably to be followed by more. Therefore, they have decided to risk aggrandizements while they can.

For Vladimir Putin, today it’s Ukraine, tomorrow the Baltics or Eastern Europe. For Iran’s theocrats, if chemical weapons are OK in Syria, why not nuclear WMD in Iran? For China, when Japan yields, why shouldn’t Taiwan, South Korea or the Philippines?

Such a seemingly insignificant loss of deterrence is how wars often start — when an aggressive nation bets that loud words signal that consequences will never follow. So it is emboldened to up the ante to try something even riskier. America’s step-over line/deadline/red line outrage is long past monotonous and empty — and the result has been an ever scarier world. Dems Vote to Punish School Children

On pretty much a party line vote, Democrats rejected Senator Coburn’s proposal to shift other national heritage funding so as to restore White House tours for taxpayers — the people who, in fact, subsidize the operation of what is supposedly “the people’s house.” (http://p.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/mar/20/senate-poised-vote-forcing-wh-resume-tours/).  Had the positions of the parties been reversed, no doubt most of the MSM would be trumpeting headlines like that above.

Complete with crying children, angry parents and self-servicing and self-righteous Congressman promising vengeance. 🙂

The GOP should be trumpeting that fact to everyone who will listen.  Every time Democrats do this, we should be asking why there seems to be money, for example, for the President to throw swanky St. Patrick’s Day parties for the elite and connected — like Chris Matthews ( http://washingtonexaminer.com/obama-parties-with-chris-matthews-for-st.-patricks-day/article/2524864) — but no Democrat can seem to find a way to let school children into The White House.

If Republicans are serious about improving their standing with normal Americans, it’s a good time to start pointing out that the party of Big, powerful government is the party that fosters exactly the kind of cronyism and insider dealing that should be anathema to a free people.  Democrats loooove to talk about insider dealing on Wall Street — but we have an alphabet soup of agencies designed to inhibit and punish that kind of self-dealing.  In contrast, at the moment, there seems to be no Democrat in the Senate who is at all disturbed at the patent self-dealing practiced by the government class at the expense of the people.

Now that’s a message to take to the country. (Townhall)

I agree, but are the Republican man enough to shout back at the Ministry of Truth and stand up to the bully??

Political Cartoons by Bob Gorrell

Democrats’ sequester tower of terror continues to collapse, floor by floor.  Amidst the media fact checks and stomach-turning posturing, Republican members of Congress are using hearings to hold bureaucrats’ feet to the fire over the claims and actions of their departments.  Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) blew the cover off of the administration’s duplicity on supposed cuts to pediatric vaccinations a few weeks ago; yesterday, it was South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy’s turn at bat.  Watch as he grills a Department of DHSHomeland Security Under Secretary as to why his team released ten “level 1” aggravated felons from federal custody,  (And he pretends he doesn’t even know what one is!!) supposedly due to sequester cuts:

GOWDY: “There was nothing else [you] could do as a cost savings measure. Is that your testimony?”

BORRAS: “No, that is not my testimony.”

My personal favorite exchange was the bit where Gowdy “asks” Borras how long the department had to prepare for sequestration, knowing exactly what the correct response would be: More than a year and a half.  And yet they were hoping the American people would simply accept the notion that they couldn’t spare $1,200 bucks to keep violent felons locked up, ostensibly because of small across-the-board federal spending reductions.  Not cuts, reductions in the rate of growth.  Remember, the president proposed and signed this law, then attempted to pawn off its supposed ill-effects onto Republicans — hoping to count on the credulous media the spread the distortions.  When the GOP wouldn’t cave, the administration mobilized to set the vast apparatus of the federal government to work against the interests and well being of the American people in order to justify their hysterical predictions of widespread misery.  I’ll leave you with the infamous quote that sums up this deeply cynical and reckless approach to governance: “It is our opinion that however you manage that reduction, you need to make sure you are not contradicting what we said the impact would be.” (Guy Benson)

the administration had approved $37 million in foreign aid for Pakistan at the expense of a tuition assistance program for veterans. Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, plans to introduce a bill that will stop foreign aid funding until military tuition is restored:

“Why are we funding education programs for [Pakistan] when we can’t fund — or don’t fund — the education for our military? And to Pakistan of all places, where hatred for America is at its highest. Washington should watch its spending and prioritize.”

Poe went on to defend the program, claiming that:

“The cost of the program is .1 percent of the Defense Department’s budget, and one that has helped graduate 50,000 individuals. The Marines spent roughly $47 million from the program last year”.

Yeah, and sequestration was a 2% cut in an increase in spending and supposedly it was the end of the world!!! 🙂

Veteran unemployment already hovers around 9.4%, almost two points above the national average. And despite the president’s assurance last year that “no one who fights for this country overseas should ever have to fight for a job”, the elimination of this program tells a contradicting story. Various departments have already made multiple cuts to make Americans feel the effects of the sequester, though as previously reported, the reasoning is purely political. (townhall)

Now the punchline:

The public by nearly 2-1, 61-33 percent, supports cutting the overall budget along the lines of the sequester that took effect last Friday. But by nearly an identical margin, Americans in this ABC News/Washington Post poll oppose an eight percent across-the-board cut in military spending.

Whoops! The Ministry of Truth has a Lot of work to do!

In a similar vein, Matt Yglesias over at Slate calls this poll “deeply misleading,” on the grounds that people tend to favor overall cuts, but when it comes down to deciding what specific areas TO cut, they’re more cautious. In other words, he feels that if the individual programs had been extended beyond simply military cuts, people would have said they were opposed to those, too.

Long story short, public opinion on budgetary matters is poorly structured and there isn’t a clear and internally consistent policy agenda that you can read from the polls. So if you constructed any ABC-style poll where you first ask about spending cuts and then ask about one particular program, you’d get the ABC result that people want big spending cuts but also want to exempt Program X from the cuts. But that’s just a kind of cheap trick. Relative to other programs, cuts to military spending are among the least-unpopular cuts around.

So he takes issue with the idea that Americans want cuts, but not from the military—of course, as he says himself, it’s hard to read the data and find a coherent policy mandate regarding any cuts.

To that end, then, it remains to be seen if the cuts that are about to take effect are as palpably felt—or objected to—as the administration has said they will be. Despite claims that airport lines would double and teachers would be immediately laid off, neither has happened (or in the case of the teachers, certainly not as a result of sequestration).

For all the hype about a 5% budget cut, it’s a pretty small amount compared to the deficit. Who knows? We may find that talking about cuts is more painful than actually executing them. And so long as your airport waiting time isn’t abnormally long, who’s to say you’ll notice? (Townhall)

So you can cut them but not Me!

I see that all day everyday at work. It’s called Narcissism (or NOT IN MY BACK POCKET). And we have generations of them now. From the elderly who created them to their great grand kids who were raised to expect it.

But I support across the board cuts. Even if my Ox gets gored.

But I’m an exception.

“My goal is not to chase a balanced budget just for the sake of balance,” he said to ABC News. “My goal is how do we grow the economy, put people back to work, and if we do that we are going to be bringing in more revenue.”

The “Education” president

John Harrison was halfway to a bachelor’s degree but financially strapped when Marine recruiters began calling him in 2007.

His wife, Amanda Harrison, recalls their pitches: “Hey, there’s all these different ways to finish your degree and you don’t have to go into a lot of debt to do it.”

That was perhaps true until last week, when the Marines told Sgt. Harrison, 26, that his college tuition would no longer be paid.

“I was furious,” Amanda said. “So many of us cannot afford to pay out-of-pocket for our service members to go to school.”

The Army, Air Force and Coast Guard followed suit by also suspending tuition assistance to tens of thousands of active-duty troops. A Navy spokesman told Yahoo News on Wednesday that possible changes to its tuition program would be announced by the end of the week.

The plans reimburse service members $250 per semester hour, up to $4,500 a year, for off-duty college tuition.

The military immediately blamed $85 billion in sequestration spending cuts that went into effect March 1.

Well, they are psychopaths (PTSD) with guns after all… Darn that evil sequestion.
Bit at least it hasn’t deterred The President Golf Game!
“The Secret Service told us that the tours cost $74,000 a week. How much is it going to cost for the President to travel later this week to Illinois? <to play golf>” Karl (ABC News) asked.
“How much does it cost for him to go and play golf?” Karl followed up.
No answer.
Fascinating.
Meanwhile, the People (and school children) can’t tour the The White House.
It’s good to Be The King…

The Obama administration said Thursday it had rearrested and brought back four of the most dangerous immigrants it released from detention last month in the run-up to the budget sequestration.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director John Morton testified to Congress that his agency released 10 “level one” offenders, and has gone out and apprehended four of them. He said the other six are nonviolent.

Mr. Morton also acknowledged that overall, 2,228 immigrants were released — far more than the several hundred the agency had initially acknowledged. Of those, 629 had criminal records, though Mr. Morton said they were low-level offenders. (WT)

Gee, that makes me feel so much better… 🙂

“Today’s ICE testimony directly contradicts repeated assurances and explanations peddled by the Obama administration in the days after the mass release of illegal aliens became public knowledge,” said Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer. “The American people were initially told there were hundreds, not thousands, of individuals released. We were assured they were low-level detainees of little public risk. As we now know, neither of these claims was accurate.”

Another petulant scare tactic gone wrong.

But Mr. Morton said he made the choice on his own without any input from the White House or Ms. Napolitano. Still, he was unable to give many of the exact figures members have demanded to know.

Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican and one of those who wrote demanding answers, said Mr. Morton didn’t clear up very much.

“Why was the secretary of Homeland Security not aware of the release of convicted criminals by her own agency? Why did she tell us it was only hundreds who were released when we now learn it was thousands?” he said. “This is evidence of serious mismanagement at DHS under Secretary Napolitano.”

Shades of Fast & Furious…Fascinating…Deniability Cover?

The agency said the decision to release immigrants from custody was partly because of sequestration, but also because it had been detaining more people in the first half of the fiscal year, and had to slow down its pace to fit within its budget.

ICE is funded to detain an average of 34,000 immigrants at any one time but had been detaining up to 36,000 in the early months of the fiscal year, which Mr. Morton said meant they were always going to have to cut the number of people they were holding. (WT)

Gee, I thought Illegal Immigration was down… 🙂
Why would detention be up? Unless those “non-violent”  “low-level” unmonitored Illegals were committing more crimes… 🙂

So if you don’t let us Tax you even more and Spend Even more Bad things will happen!

NEXT: ObamaCare

Some Americans could see their insurance bills double next year as the health care overhaul law expands coverage to millions of people. The nation’s big health insurers say they expect premiums — or the cost for insurance coverage — to rise from 20 to 100 percent for millions of people due to changes that will occur when key provisions of the Affordable Care Act roll out in January 2014. Mark Bertolini, CEO of Aetna Inc., one of the nation’s largest insurers, calls the price hikes “premium rate shock.” “We’ve done all the math, we’ve shared it with all the regulators, we’ve shared it with all the people in Washington that need to see it, and I think it’s a big concern,” Bertolini said during the company’s annual meeting with investors in December. To be sure, there will be no across-the-board rate hikes for everyone, and there’s no reliable national data on how many people could see increases.

But the biggest price hikes are expected to hit a group that represents a relatively small slice of the insured population. That includes some of the roughly 14 million people who buy their own insurance as opposed to being covered under employer-sponsored plans, and to a lesser extent, some employees of smaller companies. The price increases are a downside of President Barack Obama’s health care law, which is expected to expand coverage to nearly 30 million uninsured people. The massive law calls for a number of changes that could cause premiums for people who don’t have coverage through a big employer to rise next year — at a time when health care costs already are expected to grow by 5 percent or more.
Throughout the healthcare debate (and his first campaign), President Obama promised that premiums would fall by an average of $2,500 annually per family.  He also pledged that overall healthcare costs would decline, not increase. Wrong, and wrong.  There’s a reason why Republicans are still fighting like hell to repeal and defund this monstrosity.   The Associated Press runs through a few of the reasons behind the looming cost spikes:

— Changes to how insurers set premiums according to age and gender could cause some premiums to rise as much as 50 percent, according to America’s Health Insurance Plans, or AHIP, an industry trade group that’s funded by insurers.

— A new tax on premiums could raise prices as much as 2.3 percent in 2014 and more in subsequent years, according to a study commissioned by AHIP. Policyholders with plans that end in 2014 probably have already seen an impact from this.

— Requirements that insurance plans in many cases cover more health care or pay a greater share of a patient’s bill than they do now also could add to premiums, depending on the extent of a person’s current coverage, according AHIP.
While we’re at it, let’s address two more shattered promises of Obamacare.  (1) Remember “if you like your plan, you can keep it?”  The Obama administration has announced it’s taking an even bigger meat cleaver to the popular Medicare Advantage program than first anticipated. Democrats attack the Republican budget for “cutting Medicare on the backs of seniors” because the proposal includes a bipartisan reform plan for future seniors.  Democrats have already sliced $716 billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare, and they’re about to slash the popular Medicare Advantage for millions of current seniors.  (2) In spite of the president’s “not a single dime” deficit pledge, the nonpartisan GAO estimates that Obamacare will add $6.2 trillion to our long term deficits.

Hail Armageddon

Political Cartoons by Michael Ramirez

(Charles Krauthammer) “The worst-case scenario for us,” a leading anti-budget-cuts lobbyist told The Post, “is the sequester hits and nothing bad really happens.”

Think about that. Worst case? That a government drowning in debt should cut back by 2.2 percent — and the country survives. That a government now borrowing 35 cents of every dollar it spends reduces that borrowing by two cents “and nothing bad really happens.” Oh, the humanity!

A normal citizen might think this a good thing. For reactionary liberalism, however, whatever sum our ever-inflating government happens to spend today (now double what Bill Clinton spent in his last year) is the Platonic ideal — the reduction of which, however minuscule, is a national calamity.

Or damn well should be. Otherwise, people might get the idea that we can shrink government and live on.

To a liberal the horror of you not needing them or not needing them more and more is a their worst nightmare. You have to be dependent on them, for everything, including your thoughts. That’s just the way their universe works.

You can’t possibly survive without their “benevolence”, their “fairness” and their “justice”!

And cutting a few days of overspending is like a mortal wound to these guys.

Remember, they are the drug dealers (money) who depend on you being addicted to them.  But they are also Drug addicts who need a bigger and bigger hit to get that buzz of importance and power they crave.

The Obama administration has every incentive to make the sky fall, lest we suffer that terrible calamity — cuts the nation survives. Are they threatening to pare back consultants, conferences, travel and other nonessential fluff? Hardly. It shall be air-traffic control. Meat inspection. Weather forecasting.

On the local level it’s always, Cops, and Firefighters. It’s an all trick.

Then in Phoenix, they pass a Food Tax to create more Firefighters and Cops and don’t do it and now they have a fight to keep or else…Guess what? 🙂

In Education, they never talk about cutting the Administrators and Bureaucrats. The people who SHOULD be cut.

Nope, it’s all about FEAR.

“Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.”

― Max Brooks, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

A 2011 Government Accountability Office report gave a sampling of the vastness of what could be cut, consolidated and rationalized in Washington: 44 overlapping job training programs, 18 for nutrition assistance, 82 (!) on teacher quality, 56 dealing with financial literacy, more than 20 for homelessness, etc. Total annual cost: $100 billion-$200 billion, about two to five times the entire domestic sequester.

Are these on the chopping block? No sir. It’s firemen first. That’s the phrase coined in 1976 by legendary Washington Monthly editor Charlie Peters to describe the way government functionaries beat back budget cuts. Dare suggest a nick in the city budget, and the mayor immediately shuts down the firehouse. The DMV back office, stacked with nepotistic incompetents, remains intact. Shrink it and no one would notice. Sell the firetruck — the people scream and the city council falls silent about any future cuts.

After all, the sequester is just one-half of 1 percent of GDP. It amounts to 1.4 cents on the dollar of nondefense spending, 2 cents overall.

Because of this year’s payroll tax increase, millions of American workers have had to tighten their belts by precisely 2 percent. They found a way. Washington, spending $3.8 trillion, cannot? If so, we might as well declare bankruptcy now and save the attorneys’ fees.

The problem with sequestration, of course, is that the cuts are across the board and do not allow money to move between accounts. It’s dumb because it doesn’t discriminate.

Fine. Then change the law. That’s why we have a Congress. Discriminate. Prioritize. That’s why we have budgets. Except that the Democratic Senate hasn’t passed one in four years. (1,402 days) And the White House, which proposed the sequester in the first place, had 18 months to establish rational priorities among accounts — and did nothing.

When the GOP House passed an alternative that cut where the real money is — entitlement spending — President Obama threatened a veto. Meaning, he would have insisted that the sequester go into effect — the very same sequester he now tells us will bring on Armageddon.

Good grief. The entire sequester would have reduced last year’s deficit from $1.33 trillion to $1.24 trillion. A fraction of a fraction. Nonetheless, insists Obama, such a cut is intolerable. It has to be “balanced” — i.e., largely replaced — by yet more taxes.

Which demonstrates that, for Obama, this is not about deficit reduction, which interests him not at all. The purpose is purely political: to complete his Election Day victory by breaking the Republican opposition.

At the fiscal cliff, Obama broke — and split — the Republicans on taxes. With the sequester, he intends to break them on spending. Make the cuts as painful as possible, and watch the Republicans come crawling for a “balanced” (i.e., tax-hiking) deal.

In the past two years, House Republicans stopped cold Obama’s left-liberal agenda. Break them now, and the road is open to resume enactment of the expansive, entitlement-state liberalism that Obama proclaimed in his second inaugural address.

But he cannot win if “nothing bad really happens.” Indeed, he’d look both foolish and cynical for having cried wolf.

Obama’s incentive to deliberately make the most painful and socially disruptive cuts possible (say, oh, releasing illegal immigrants from prison) is enormous. And alarming.

Which was over a thousand BEFORE the Sequester not 300 as claimed. It was a just an excuse to do what THEY wanted to do all along anyhow.

Hail Armageddon.

When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.
Thomas Jefferson

And Obama says he’s “Not a Dictator”. 🙂
It’s just his way or Armageddon!
Vote for Armageddon! 🙂

What’s Important

Benghazi Update (remember that?): Before we confirm the president’s national security team, let’s get some answers to why no terrorists have been captured or killed after the consulate attack and why the administration doesn’t seem to care.

Last Tuesday, the Tunisian government released Ali Ani al-Harzi, a leading suspect in the attack who was taken into custody after fleeing Libya for Turkey and then sent to Tunisia. A Tunisian court said he was released for lack of evidence, but more likely he was released for no lack of pressure from Islamist groups in and outside Tunisia.

Harzi is free now to share a fruity drink with fellow suspect Ahmed Abu Khattala. According to the Oct. 19 New York Times, Khattala, an alleged ringleader of the Sept. 11 attack, was found at a crowded luxury hotel, sipping strawberry frappes on a patio and scoffing at the threats coming from the U.S. and Libyan governments.

Sad to say, this is the apparent extent of our knowledge of and investigation into just who is responsible for planning and executing the terrorist attack.

President Obama has vowed to bring the killers of Ambassador Stevens and the three other Americans to justice. Yet four months after the assault, little progress, if any, has been made, and the only one in jail is Mark Basseley Youssef, the man said to be behind the film “Innocence of Muslims,” originally blamed by the Obama administration for provoking the attack.

“Make no mistake,” President Obama told reporters the morning after the attack, “we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people.”

So far this has been just one of many empty and broken promises. As Benghazi fades away, no one has been brought to justice and no one may ever be. (IBD)

Just like Fast & Furious.
But boy are Obama & Co hot to take YOUR guns away from YOU because you are a violent psychopath!
Funny that.

“In what other ways might the mighty eagle emulate the tattered old lion? First comes reorientation, and the shrinking of the horizon. After empire, Britain turned inward: Between 1951 and 1997 the proportion of government expenditure on defense fell from 24 percent to seven, while the proportion on health and welfare rose from 22 percent to 53. And that’s before New Labour came along to widen the gap further.

“Those British numbers are a bald statement of reality: You can have Euro-sized entitlements or a global military, but not both. What’s easier to do if you’re a democratic government that’s made promises it can’t afford — cut back on nanny-state lollipops, or shrug off thankless military commitments for which the electorate has minimal appetite?” (Mark Steyn)

So you crush the Defense Department (which liberal loath with a psychotic passion) and nominate someone who will gladly wield a battle axe and not a scalpel when cut the Defense budget (“waste”).

Thus you have more money to hide, guess what?, OBAMACARE. That bloated mess that cost 3 times what it was supposed to and it hasn’t even kicked in 100% until next year.

Barack Obama prefers to say that it’s time for the United States to do some nation-building at home.

By that he means an authoritarian post-“empire” Empire for Liberal progressive socialism.

Isolation. Big Brother needs isolation. The Ministry of Truth needs control.

Either line will do, and, like Britain’s inverted budget priorities, both implicitly acknowledge that a military-industrial complex and a dependency-bureaucrat complex are incompatible. And that’s before you factor in Washington-size borrowing, under which, within this decade, the interest payments on the debt will be covering the entire cost of the Chinese military. America can fund the Pentagon or the People’s Liberation Army, but not both, not for long. Having gotten the citizenry to accept a supersized welfare bureaucracy, Obama reasonably enough figures he can just as easily get them used to a shrunken American presence in the wider world.

So the president is looking for his equivalent of Denis Healey, the Labour cabinet minister who in the 1968 defense review announced an all but total withdrawal of British forces from “east of Suez” — a phrase that in the imperial imagination is less geographic than psychological.

Kipling’s English Tommy on the road to Mandalay: “Ship me somewheres east of Suez  . . . ” And then a cheeseparing defense minister says: No, we won’t. Not now, not ever again. It’s over.

Who would you hire for the Pentagon’s east-of-Suez moment? According to the Washington Post, Obama picked Hagel to “bridge the partisan divide.” (Mark Steyn)

Add in “swift Boat” Kerry and a “Tax and Spend” Treasury Secretary and possible some more Liberal Progressive Justices to the Supreme Court and you have the makings of a great new state for America.

Add in all the “Dreamers”, the 12 Million new Democrat voters…

So in conclusion, we all know that the Modern Democrat is always looking out for “Bi-partisan” solutions and the right people for the right job to make America prosperous again.

So they can KILL THEM stone dead! 🙂

What’s Important is that the Liberals take over everything and everybody because they are so vastly superior to all forms of life and they are going to prove it be dominating all other life forms utterly and completely and you aren’t going to even miss your freedoms.

Turn up the heat on that frog in the warm water, it’s time to start boiling….
