The Shocker of 2015

NOT!

WASHINGTON (AP) — No IRS official would face criminal charges arising from the political controversy over the processing of applications for tax-exempt status, the Justice Department announced Friday.

In a letter to members of Congress, the department said that while investigators had found “mismanagement, poor judgment and institutional inertia,” there was no evidence of a crime.

But no non-Partisan crimes.

“We found no evidence that any IRS official acted based on political, discriminatory, corrupt or other inappropriate motives that would support a criminal prosecution,” the letter stated.

Bwah hahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha!

There won’t be if you’re so biased that you won’t allow yourself to see it.

The department also announced that Lois Lerner, who headed the division that processes applications for tax-exempt status at the time, would not face any charges.

Never expected her too. She was a Loyal Obama Drone.

A firestorm erupted more than two years ago with the release of an inspector general’s audit that said IRS agents had improperly singled out tea party and other conservative groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status during the 2010 and 2012 elections.

The disclosure set off investigations by the Justice Department and multiple congressional committees.

The House voted to hold Lerner in contempt of Congress last year after she refused to answer questions at two House Oversight Committee hearings. She has since retired.

Well, that’s good, because the Democrats have complete contempt for Congress too. 🙂

A number of Republican lawmakers and conservative groups condemned the DOJ’s decision to let Lerner and the IRS off the hook. Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz , who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, says that Congress will continue to investigate the IRS’ role in the targeting of conservatives.

“This announcement is a reminder that the Obama administration continues to refuse to hold anyone accountable at the IRS,” said Chaffetz, who noted that the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration conducted an audit more than two years ago confirming the IRS was targeting conservative groups.

“While DOJ may have closed its investigation, as a coequal branch of government, Congress will continue to seek accountability for the American people,” he continued.

“A clear message must be sent that using government agencies to stifle citizens’ freedom of speech will not be tolerated. If the administration won’t send that message, Congress will.”

In which case the liberal media and the Democrats will label it “a Partisan witch hunt” as they always do when it’s them on the receiving.

It’s “seeking justice” when they do to someone. That’s a Plaime as the nose on their Pinocchio faces. 🙂

Remember when It said Libby, Libby, Libby on the Label, Label Label?

Do you remember Lewis “Scooter” Libby?

I do. I do. 🙂

In 2003, the Department of Justice appointed a special counsel to investigate allegations that Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, unlawfully disclosed the covert status of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

It was all BS, the Democrats were trying there damndest to get Bush but they couldn’t.

Yet Plame may not have been a covert undercover agent, based on the formal government definition of that role.

And the fact that you can’t be an international undercover operative while living comfortably all the time in Virginia!

And even if she were, it was widely known at the time that Secretary of State Colin Powell’s subordinate, Richard Armitage, had most likely disclosed her status earlier.

And in the end, after all the partisan “gotcha” BS had cleared it was announced to no fanfare at all that he had in fact done it, but since he was not on the hit list and meant nothing to the Democrats he was virtually ignored.

In other words, Libby was in an Orwellian position of being accused of a crime that may not have existed. But if it had, it was more likely committed by someone else.

But since it was partisan “gotcha” the Democrats didn’t care. They just wanted BLOOD in the water. They were the sharks hungry for a partisan meal if there was no meat they’d invent it — much like Vegan Chicken Legs!

Publicity-seeking special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald convinced a Washington, D.C., jury to find Libby guilty of obstruction of justice, perjury and making false statements to federal investigators — not the supposed crimes for which he was originally targeted by the media.

And a laughably silly “gotcha” especially compared to Hillary, Obama, Holder and Co.

But that’s the point, They are Democrats. They can do that.  You can’t. 🙂

Apparently, the very suspicion of improper behavior by high public servants once warranted vigorous legal inquiry — by supposedly independent and autonomous prosecutors.

Only if you were a Republican and the Democrat Hit Squad was out to get you (and they missed and got a minor functionary who then became the anti-christ because that’s what they were hungry for in the end run).

In the eight-plus since the Libby trial, the Obama administration has blown up the law as we have known it for centuries.

But since they are Democrats and so much smarter and so much more Holy than you grubby little shits they can do whatever they want in the name of  the “betterment” of all mankind. 🙂

Barack Obama once warned Latino activists that he had no legal authority to suspend enforcement of federal immigration law, stop deportations and offer de facto amnesties.

Until politics said he did and you’re a “racist” if you opposed him.

But that caution was only a campaigning talking point. After his re-election in 2012 and the midterm elections in 2014, Obama made a mockery of immigration law.

The Agenda is The Agenda!

Hundreds of liberal sanctuary cities have announced that federal immigration law does not apply to them. That scary, neo-Confederate idea of legal nullification was sanctioned by the Obama administration — in a way it never would have been if a city had suspended the Endangered Species Act, emissions standards or gun-control legislation.

As a result, once-detained and later-released immigrants with criminal records have murdered innocent American citizens.

And the perp (or his gun) was the victim or to blame, but not the illegal immigrant.

Consider the proposed nuclear deal with Iran. By past custom and practice, the nonproliferation agreement would be treated as what it is — a treaty.

But ratifying treaties constitutionally requires 67 yes votes from the Senate. Obama could never obtain that margin. So he managed to downgrade the treaty into a mere legal agreement. Then he claimed that the Senate required 67 no votes to override his veto.

And the Republicans went along with this gag.

Obama also was worried about the political impact of his new Obamacare legislation on the 2014 midterm elections. So he simply suspended by executive fiat the employer mandate of the Affordable Care Act. Had another president done that to the laws of Obamacare, the left would have demanded impeachment.

Nixon got impeached for a hell of a lot less!

In Ferguson, Missouri, law enforcement eased off and allowed a city to burn. But the cause of the rioting — the supposed improper police killing of criminal suspect Michael Brown — was based on the lie that Brown was shot in the back while fleeing. No matter. The ensuing public outrage seemingly exempted arsonists and looters from arrest.

The Ministry of Truth said he said, so he must have said it, right?

Just as scary is the application of the law on the basis of the perceived politics of a suspect.

IRS bureaucrat Lois Lerner was exposed as a rank partisan whose office gave particular scrutiny to would-be tax-exempt groups deemed opponents of Obama’s re-election efforts. She invoked the Fifth Amendment and refused to testify before a congressional committee about her actions at the IRS. Lerner has never been indicted.

Because the person who’d have to do it, The Attorney General, then Eric Holder, was and still is a partisan for the President and The Party, not the Law.

Almost everything former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has stated about her improper use of a private email account and server has been proven false. A State Department staffer who worked on Clinton’s private server plans to invoke the Fifth Amendment to avoid testifying before a congressional committee about his role in privatizing Clinton’s email.

But she said she was “sorry” so why are you so insensitive as to not accept it? 🙂

It’s not like she erased 18 minutes of White House tapes or anything!

But like Lerner, Clinton has escaped an indictment or jailing.

Because the Jailer is paid political partisan of the King.

Not so Kim Davis. She is a conservative Christian court clerk in Kentucky who apparently thought, given the lawless times, that she could ignore without consequence a Supreme Court decision making gay marriage legal.

Davis was jailed for not enforcing the law. That is a justifiable punishment — if it were applied equally to the progressive mayors of sanctuary cities and all officials who likewise ignore federal law.

But Progressive don’t believe in equality, of enforcement, after all. The laws are for thee, not for them.

In the same manner, rank amateur video maker Nakoula Basseley Nakoula was jailed for violating his probation. Why?

Nakoula made a video insensitive to Muslims and thus was falsely blamed for the riotous 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. The most likely culprit of the preplanned Benghazi attack was not scapegoat Nakoula, but the inconvenient pre-election truth that al-Qaida was quite alive in Libya and U.S. security quite lax.

But that made the King and his minions look weak, so they had to lie their way out of that.

So it was perfectly logical that some Egyptians just happened to be strolling by with their Rocket Launchers, Snipers and Molotov Cocktail and they all had a delayed reaction, like not getting a joke right away, from seeing a You Tube video 4 months ago and went crazy with rage.

After all, “What Difference Does it  Make?” 🙂

America is becoming analogous to the mess in lawless contemporary Venezuela. When the law is suspended or unevenly applied for politically protected individuals and groups, then there is no law.

Welcome to Orwell Land.

So we are now seeing the logical descent into the abyss of chaos. (Victor Davis Hanson)

Yes, and to the Progressives it’s a glorious sight.

Inadvertently Routine

“Hard drive crashes continue as we speak,” Internal Revenue Service (IRS) commissioner John Koskinen admitted at a House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee hearing when asked if any computers had recently crashed under his watch.

The IRS has to worst hard drives made by man, and probably cost 10 times more than yours or mine too. 🙂 Either that or they have a ideological ass saving deletion program. 🙂

Koskinen admitted that destroying records would be an act “not consistent with the law,” but maintained that there’s no evidence that the IRS intentionally destroyed records. (DC)

And if you believe that….

Koskinen didn’t mention that the IRS terminated its years-long contract with its email archiving company Sonasoft shortly after Lerner’s computer crashed.

“It is not clear that there are backup tapes that have any information on them,” Koskinen said. “I never said they disappeared, I said they were recycled.”

Then you’re a Liberal who’ll believe anything the Ministry of Truth and their minions tell you. Hope you like a Moon made of cheese.

Koskinen also admitted that IRS employees routinely use personal email accounts to conduct agency business but maintained that “they do it inadvertently.”

Inadvertently routine. Orwell is proud of you my son. That’s Baffling them with BS. And the only people who’d buy it are the ideologically inclined or the stupid.

Last week, Republican senators sent a letter to Archivist of the United States David Ferriero after receiving reports that an Environmental Protection Agency official’s hard drive had crashed just as congressional investigators began looking into questions about the EPA’s review of an Alaska mining project.

Investigators sought computer records of a former EPA official, Phillip North, who later fled the country. More than a year after his retirement, senators said, EPA officials belatedly told the National Archives and Records Administration that they failed to preserve Mr. North’s computer records.

“First the IRS, and now the EPA — these hard-drive crashes seem to be a growing epidemic throughout the administration,” Sen. David Vitter, Louisiana Republican, said in a statement. “This ‘dog ate my homework’ excuse is getting ridiculous.”

But like all Liberals, they are innocent until you’re proven guilty of partisan bias, right? 🙂

Delusion & Deception

The Ministry of Truth goes into overdrive with an election only a couple of months away…

Lois Lerner’s Blackberry was intentionally destroyed after Congress had begun its probe into IRS targeting of conservative groups, a senior IRS lawyer acknowledged in a sworn declaration. Thomas Kane, Deputy Assistant Chief Counsel for the IRS, wrote in the declaration, part of a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch against the IRS, that the Blackberry was “removed or wiped clean of any sensitive or proprietary information and removed as scrap for disposal in June 2012.” That date – June 2012 – is significant because by that time, ex-IRS official Lerner had already been summoned before congressional staffers who interviewed her about reports of the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups. “We had already talked to her. Our personal staff and Oversight Committee staff had sat down with Ms. Lerner and confronted her about information we were getting from conservative groups in the state of Ohio and around the country,” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Fox News. (townhall)

Oh, and her emails weren’t destroyed by a hard drive crash, that was a Benghazi style deception…

In a speech this week, President Obama showed he’s just as detached about the economy as he is about foreign affairs, offering an upbeat economic assessment that would make even Pollyanna cringe.

In a single paragraph in his speech to the American Legion on Tuesday, Obama rattled off some of his alleged domestic achievements. More jobs, booming industries, more kids graduating.

But like most things Obama says that aren’t flat untruths, these claims are wildly misleading. For example, the president says his policies rescued the country from what could have been another Great Depression and as a result we’re now “stronger at home.”

But the Ministry of Truth and pure partisan Thought Police will make it true or else! 🙂

But as IBD pointed out recently, by several measures the economy is worse off than it was when the recovery started back in June 2009. Among them: median household incomes are down, poverty is up, Social Security is weaker, the national debt is far larger.

And the country is, remarkably, more pessimistic about the economy today than it was five years ago.

Obama also says that he’s overseen “the longest streak in private-sector job creation in American history.”

Technically, that’s true. But what Obama fails to note is that under Reagan and Clinton, private-sector jobs increased for 71 and 85 months, respectively, interrupted in both cases by just one month of a tiny decline.

Nor does he point out that average monthly job growth on his watch has been about 20% slower than it was during those two expansions.

In fact, if the rate of job growth during Obama’s recovery had been merely average, there’d be almost 8 million more people with jobs today.

Obama also claims that “our auto industry and manufacturing are booming.” Booming? Manufacturing jobs have edged up a mere 1.4% since January 2013, and they’re still 400,000 below where they stood when Obama took office.

The industry’s return on equity is lower than the peak under President Bush, according to data from the National Association of Manufacturers.

And NAM head Jay Timmons says the industry’s successes in recent years “have come in spite of Washington.” Obama’s forthcoming massive greenhouse and smog rules could choke these off.

What about the auto industry? Yes, sales are up from the recessionary trough, but they missed expectations in July, and passenger-car sales through last month were up just 1% compared with last year, according to Motor Intelligence.

Analysts expect 2014 sales to end up somewhere around where they were in 2006, which considering the fact that the U.S. population increased 18 million over those years, isn’t exactly saying much.

If this is what Obama considers “booming,” it’s no wonder the economy is in such terrible shape. (IBD)

President Obama is enduring an awful summer of domestic troubles, foreign tragedies and a lost national narrative that’s put him on the defensive. He’ll try to recapture control of the country’s political dialogue next month by igniting an emotional controversy over legalizing illegal aliens.

But Tuesday the Democrat was in Charlotte to describe to American Legion members an exotic foreign land where November voters should be delighted to keep his party members in office. Obama’s full text is available here.

We’ve gathered some excerpts with our comments in italics to provide a flavor of the alien land this president sees through his bullet-proof windows. He doesn’t seem so much detached as delusional:

“Even as we face, yes, the hard tasks of our time, we should never lose sight of our progress as a people or the strength of our leadership in the world. (Just take my word for it.) ….We are stronger at home. (What?) Over the past 53 months, our businesses have added nearly 10 million new jobs….

“Construction and housing are rebounding. Our auto industry and manufacturing are booming. Our high school graduation rate is at a record high. More young people are earning their college degrees than ever before. Millions more Americans now have quality, affordable healthcare (although the premium increases will surprise many). We’ve cut the deficit by more than half (from my own ridiculous trillion-dollar-plus deficits)….

“And just as we’re stronger at home, the United States is better positioned to lead in the 21st century than any nation on Earth. It’s not even close. We have the most powerful military in history — that’s certainly not close. (Although I am cutting it to mid-20th century levels). From Europe to Asia, our alliances are unrivaled. Our economy is the most dynamic.

“We’ve got the best workers. We’ve got the best businesses. We have the best universities and the best scientists. With our domestic energy revolution, including more renewable energy, we’re more energy independent. Our technologies connect the world. (Because I have not secured the borders) our freedoms and opportunities attract (millions of illegal) immigrants….

“And moreover, nobody else can do what we do. No other nation does more to underwrite the security and prosperity on which the world depends. In times of crisis, no other nation can rally such broad coalitions to stand up for international norms and peace. (Take Libya, for instance, where we assembled a coalition to oust Moammar Gaddafi and create yet another failed state for terrorist bands to roam)….

“That’s why the United States is and will remain the one indispensable nation in the world.

“Now, sustaining our leadership, keeping America strong and secure, means we have to use our power wisely. ….You know the United States has to lead with strength and confidence and wisdom. And that’s why, after incredible sacrifice by so many of our men and women in uniform, we removed more than 140,000 troops from Iraq (leaving the vacuum that ISIL now inhabits)….

“As we go forward, we’ll continue to partner with Afghans so their country can never again be used to launch attacks against the United States. Now, as I’ve always made clear, the blows we’ve struck against al Qaeda’s leadership don’t mean the end to the terrorist threat. (To be honest, I’ve always made clear that Al Qaeda was “on the run”, “decimated” and “on the path to defeat.” I left out the ongoing threat part because of the 2012 election)….

“As Commander-in-Chief, the security of the American people is my highest priority, and that’s why, with the brutal terrorist group ISIL advancing in Iraq, I have (belatedly) authorized targeted strikes to protect our diplomats and military advisors….

“Our message to anyone who harms our people is simple: America does not forget. Our reach is long. We are patient. Justice will be done. We have proved time and time again we will do what’s necessary to capture those who harm Americans (which is why two years after the Benghazi murders we’ve already captured one of the attack leaders who’ve been interviewed so often by U.S. media)….

“Rooting out a cancer like ISIL won’t be easy and it won’t be quick. But tyrants and murderers before them should recognize that kind of hateful vision ultimately is no match for the strength and hopes of people who stand together for the security and dignity and freedom that is the birthright of every human being. (Although modern weapons seem to play a more important role than I like to admit).

“Even as our war in Afghanistan comes to an end, we will stay vigilant….When I was here at the Legion three years ago, I said that the bond between our forces and our citizens has to be a sacred trust, and that for me, for my administration, upholding our trust with our veterans is not just a matter of policy, it is a moral obligation. (Which is why I took no real VA reform steps until CNN began exposing chronic abuses throughout the medical system last year)….

“We’ve been able to accomplish historic increases to veterans funding (because as a Democrat, I measure success solely by money spent)….But what we’ve come to learn (by reading the media) is the misconduct we’ve seen at too many facilities — with long wait times, and veterans denied care, and folks cooking the books — is outrageous and inexcusable.

“As soon as it was disclosed (or within several months anyway), I got before the American people and I said we would not tolerate it….And we will not….. We are going to get to the bottom of these problems (that I campaigned against seven long years ago). We’re going to fix what is wrong….That is a solemn pledge and commitment that I’m making to you here (just as I repeatedly promised that all Americans could keep their doctor and insurance plans under ObamaCare)….

“Already (nearly one year after initial disclosures), we’re making sure that those responsible for manipulating or falsifying records are held accountable…..

“We’re in the midst of a new wave of veterans — more than a million service members returning to civilian life (because we’re so drastically cutting national defense)….So we have to do more to uphold that sacred trust not just this year or next year, but for decades to come….

“We’re also going to keep helping our troops transition to civilian life. Because of the work we’ve done together, if you already have a military truck driver’s license, every state now waives the skills test, so it’s easier for you to get a commercial driver’s license….

“Every American needs to join us in taking care of those who’ve taken care of us. Because only 1 percent of Americans may be fighting our wars, but 100 percent of Americans benefit from that 1 percent….

“A hundred percent need to be supporting our military families.” (Which is why during the recent funeral of the first U.S. general officer combat casualty in decades, I was playing golf.) (IBD)

Orwell underestimated Obama.

Public Servant

Lois Lerner — faithful, impartial public servant:

Forthcoming

d’oh!

d’oh!

Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) lit into IRS Commissioner John Koskinen over the missing Lois Lerner emails at a Friday House Ways and Means Committee hearing, flatly telling him he didn’t believe his excuse for them being gone.

The emails of Lerner, the former tax-exemption chief at the center of the investigation into IRS targeting of conservative groups, were reported lost in a “hard drive crash,” an explanation which Koskinen said was on the line.

“I’m sitting here, listening to this testimony, I don’t believe it,” Ryan said. “That’s your problem. Nobody believes you. The Internal Revenue Service comes to us a couple years ago and misleads us and tells us no targeting is occurring. Then it said it was a few rogue agents in Cincinnati. Then it said it was also on progressives. All of those things have been proven untrue.”

Ryan called Koskinen’s explanation for the loss of the emails “unbelievable.”

“You are the Internal Revenue Service,” he said. “You can reach into the lives of hard-working taxpayers and with a phone call, an e-mail or a letter you can turn their lives upside down. You ask taxpayers to hand onto seven years of their personal tax information in case they are ever audited and you can’t keep six months worth of employee e-mails? And now that we are seeing this investigation, you don’t have the e-mails, hard drives crashed. You learned about this months ago. You just told us, and we had to ask you on Monday.”

This is not being forthcoming, he said.

“This is being misleading again,” Ryan said. “This is a pattern of abuse, a pattern of behavior that is not giving us any confidence that this agency is being impartial. I don’t believe you. This is incredible.” (WFB)

Gee, I guess they should have used a reel-to-reel audio tape under the desk. Then the Democrats would actually care. 🙂

Political Cartoons by Henry Payne

One of the seven people, including Lois Lerner who lost emails from the period of Tea Party targeting by the IRS, served as chief of staff to former IRS head Steven Miller. She also made 35 visits to the White House.

The funny thing about emails is that they are never orphans. When you send one, there’s always a recipient who has his or her own copy. The “lost” Lois Lerner emails had recipients. How about subpoenas to all of them during the Tea Party targeting period? That should help find what we need to know — or maybe not.

It seems six more IRS officials have lost critical emails from that period, a seeming statistical impossibility that shouts out a conspiracy to obstruct justice, and more violations of the Federal Records Act, which requires paper copies of these emails to be printed and stored just in case of computer problems.

One of those officials who received Lerner emails and also lost them was Nikole Flax, chief of staff to former IRS Commissioner Steven Miller. Miller, who was fired in the wake of the targeting scandal, visited the White House more than most Cabinet members.

Flax, as the Daily Caller reports, “made 31 visits to the White House between July 12, 2010, and May 8, 2013, according to White House visitor logs.”

While not quite as numerous as another former IRS Commissioner, Douglas Shulman, who made some 118 visits — including one he testified was for the Easter egg roll on the White House lawn — Flax’s visits dovetail nicely with key points in the IRS scandal.

The visits started just as the IRS’ targeting of the Tea Party began; the last occurred two days before the scandal broke in May 2013. On the day of her last visit, according to the Daily Caller, Flax got an email from Lerner seeking advice on a plan to coordinate with the Justice Department to criminally prosecute conservative activists.

Responding to this email, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request filed by Judicial Watch, Flax gave the green light to Lerner’s plan to coordinate criminal prosecutions with DOJ, a suggestion that had been made by Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse.

We also know that Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings’ staff was in contact with Lerner about the conservative group True the Vote.

Whitehouse and Cummings might be two of the “Democratic offices” referred to in a statement from the House Ways and Means Committee when it derided IRS’ claims that “it cannot produce emails written only to or from Lerner and outside agencies or groups, such as the White House, Treasury, Department of Justice, FEC, or Democrat offices.” (IBD)

Scalped By Big Brother

The United States Patent and Trademark Office canceled six federal trademark registrations for the NFL’s Washington Redskins on Wednesday, saying the nickname is “disparaging to Native Americans” and cannot be trademarked under federal law that prohibits trademark protection on offensive or disparaging language.

Big Brother and his Politically Correct radical cronies are mad at you and you won;t do what they want so we’ll just have to push you. And if you still won’t do it we’ll have to come up with something else.

I personally could care less, I’m not a football fan anymore, but I am not a fan of President Fiat and his Regulatory army of Leftists.

But my contribution to the Politically Correct Hyperventilating Crowd:  I think they should change it to “Code Talkers” (after the WWII Hero Navajos) or “NAW- The Native American Warriors” That way if anyone has a problem they can just “NAW, no problem.” 🙂

After all, the same Administration, along with it’s lapdogs in Congress, want to increase the gas tax from 18 cents to 30 cents. Doesn’t sound like a lot until you start thinking volume, like truckers (who deliver your goods to stores) or “Poor people” who are already strapped by Obama.

The Feds already make more profit from a gallon of gas that the company that produced it. Also, since Government won’t cut spending they have to increase taxes on you. So do you like paying more because the drug addicts in Washington can’t stop themselves?

And why is the Federal Highway Fund almost bankrupt (other than just the usual government inefficiency)?  Because the cars today get better gas mileage so they use less gas, thus less tax money.

Now who has been pushing that?  Government.

Obama himself is pushing hard for even more withing the next few years, or else Uncle Sam was going to be very cross with the Car companies.

So in a few years if they raise the tax again because it will dry up again and they’ll want to raise it again!

Again, cutting spending will never have occurred to drug addicted darlings in Washington or their cohorts.

Reaching into your pocket does. Doesn’t that make you happy? 🙂

After all, Obama is going to make your electricity rates “skyrocket”. You can afford it. 🙂

Then there’s ObamaCare. 🙂

Well, They ain’t done yet. Your Job may be Next. Be Happy.

The head of a leading environmental group recently defended job losses from the Obama administration’s new anti-carbon regulations as “collateral damage” in the fight against global warming. Joseph Schumpeter must be turning over in his grave.Writing in the Huffington Post, William Becker of the Climate Action Project praised the new Environmental Protection Agency regulations to stop climate change, and wrote that “there is nothing explicit in the (Obama) plan to mitigate or adapt to the economic disruption the clean energy transition will cause for coal and oil-country families.”

Translation: F*Ck ’em all! (That’s that famed and much touted liberal “compassion”).

These families thrown out of work, he said, are an “evolutionary step in technology and the economy” and a move toward “economic progress.”

Despite the fact that the “new technology” doesn’t actually work or is grossly more expensive, who cares! THE AGENDA IS THE AGENDA and anyone who gets in our way is going to get mowed down!! (More of that famed liberal “sensitivity”)

And his solution to the increase in unemployment in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio is to create yet another job training program, as if that will compensate for turning workers’ lives upside down.

They can train them how to be good Welfare Democrats. 🙂

These comments may seem offensive and elitist (imagine the media outcry if an industry representative described workers laid off as “collateral damage”). But at least Becker is honest about the negative impact of the radical anti-carbon lobby’s crusade on middle class families.

Yeah, he honestly doesn’t care. 🙂

The Obama administration fantasizes that this knife to the throat of our domestic energy industry will somehow create “green” jobs. On the contrary.

A study by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce finds that the new EPA regulations will destroy 200,000 mostly blue-collar energy jobs, reduce the U.S. GDP by about $50 billion a year and cost families thousands of dollars over the next decade in higher energy costs.

Becker writes that this disruption to the lives and livelihoods of middle-class blue-collar Americans is a natural “evolutionary” step toward a mature 21st-century economy, and likens the new government rules to the typewriter industry being displaced in the 1980s by the computer.

But he doesn’t get the Schumpeterian concept of “creative destruction.”

Economic modernization is beneficial and wealth-enhancing if it is driven by a free market in ways that reduce costs and increase output. Obama’s green “evolutionary” step is due not to market forces but an edict from the government that will force people to use more inefficient sources of energy.

How is using a 500-year-old technology (wind power) — which is two to three times more costly than fossil fuel electricity — an evolutionary step toward anything but the poor house? This is anti-progress.

It’s easy for wealthy elites in the green movement to be so cavalier about destroying high-paying energy industry jobs. This won’t disrupt their lives much at all. They aren’t facing the collateral damage from the loss of their jobs as university professors, hedge fund managers, community activists and heads of “charitable” research organizations.

Hopefully, statements such as those from Becker will awaken workers in blue-collar industries across the country to the fact that they can no longer coexist in a political movement whose leadership views the squeeze on the middle class and the loss of jobs as acceptable “collateral damage.” (IBD)

THE AGENDA IS THE AGENDA! Damn The Consequences Full Steam Ahead!

Scalp ’em if you have to!
