It’s good to be the King.
Calling for “all hands on deck” to assist the economy (AGAIN!), President Barack Obama is urging his Cabinet to identify ways to keep his administration relevant to people struggling in the up-and-down recovery. (The Emperor needs a tailor for his new clothes!)
With two weeks left before delivering an economy-focused State of the Union address to Congress (so he can go back to The Agenda afterwards), Obama is picking up the pace of his jobs message and demonstrating how he can advance his economic agenda administratively and through his ability to coax action from important interest groups.
“We’re not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help they need. I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone,” Obama said Tuesday as he convened his first Cabinet meeting of the year.
Obama continued: ”And I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions that move the ball forward in helping to make sure our kids are getting the best education possible, making sure that our businesses are getting the kind of support and help they need to grow and advance, to make sure that people are getting the skills that they need to get those jobs that our businesses are creating.”
Gee, I thought it was improving. 🙂 After all, unemployment dropped to its lowest of his Presidency (of course the labor participation rate is the lowest on record because 5 times as many who got a job gave up looking and went on the government dole or no dole at all).
And besides it’s mid-January. It’s State of The Union Ra-Ra time. This is when he pays attention to the economy for 5 minutes before going to THE AGENDA.
“One of the things that I’m going to be talking to my Cabinet about is how do we use all the tools available to us, not just legislation, in order to advance a mission that I think unifies all Americans,” Obama said. “The belief that everybody’s got to take responsibility, everybody’s got to work hard, but if you do, that you can support a family and meet the kinds of obligations that you have to yourself and your family, but also to your communities and your neighbors.”
We’re all Socialists in this collective together and you’ve got to do your part. Like sign up for ObamaCare so it doesn’t as soon as I wanted it to. Talk about “Too big to fail”. 🙂

Later this month, he is convening CEOs at the White House to lay out plans for hiring the long-term unemployed.
Translation: Threats and intimidation. Make your King look good so I can use my Class Warfare on you and make the vassal happy for the 2014 campaign season. OR ELSE.
It isn’t about what you want. It’s about what HE wants. And he wants happy subjects to vote for more Democrats so they can take over their lives faster and more efficiently by rubber stamp decree of a full Democrat Congress (I refuse to use “democratic” even in a small “d” for a majority Democrat Congress because that is the very last thing it would be).
“Overall, the message to my Cabinet, and that will be amplified in our State of the Union, is that we need all hands on deck to build on the recovery that we’re already seeing,” Obama said. “The economy is improving, but it can be improving even faster.”
Haven’t we been hearing this same line for 5 years now? Yep, it must be January. 🙂

Obama’s reliance on his executive powers and his bully pulpit — at the White House it’s called his “pen-and-phone” strategy — illustrates the means at his disposal to drive policy but also highlights the limits of his ability to work with Congress.
You mean his willingness to work with the enemy. After all “Congress” in this context means Republicans, who are too busy with their own circular firing squad.

Only through legislation can Obama obtain some of the most ambitious items on his economic agenda — from a higher minimum wage to universal preschool to an overhaul of immigration laws, three items in his 2013 State of the Union that will make a return appearance in this year’s address.

It’s good to be the King! Who the f*ck need Congress or The Constitution. He is King is he not. He should be able to do what he wants, when he wants, because he’s wants. After all, it is always for the good of his loyal subjects and the peasants too.
