Barbarism is The order of the day

The Agenda is The Agenda, no matter what. A “women’s right to choose” is more important than baby body part harvesting.

And the Republicans, supposedly “pro-Life” suddenly have no convictions at all except to avoid the whole thing as much as possible.

Political Cartoons by Gary Varvel

Executives of Planned Parenthood’s federally subsidized meat markets — your tax dollars at work — lack the courage of their convictions. They should drop the pretense of conducting a complex moral calculus about the organs they harvest from the babies they kill.

First came the video showing a salad-nibbling, wine-sipping Planned Parenthood official explaining how “I’m going to basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above” whatever organ (heart, lung, liver) is being harvested.

Then the president of a Planned Parenthood chapter explained the happy side of harvesting: “For a lot of the women participating in the fetal tissue donation program, they’re having a procedure that may be a very difficult decision for them and this is a way for them to feel that something positive is coming from … a very difficult time.”

“Having a procedure” — stopping the beating of a human heart — can indeed be a difficult decision for the woman involved. But it never is difficult for Planned Parenthood abortionists administering the “procedure.”

The abortion industry’s premise is: At no point in the gestation of a human infant does this living being have a trace of personhood that must be respected. Never does it have a moral standing superior to a tumor or a hamburger in the mother’s stomach.

In 1973, the Supreme Court, simultaneously frivolous and arrogant, discovered constitutional significance in the fact that the number nine is divisible by three. It decreed that the status of pre-born human life changes with pregnancy’s trimesters.

(What would abortion law be if the number of months of gestation were a prime number — seven or 11?)

The court followed this preposterous assertion with faux humility, insisting it could not say when life begins. Then, swerving back to breathtaking vanity, it declared when “meaningful” life begins — “viability,” when the fetus “is potentially able” to survive outside the womb.

When life begins is a scientific, not a philosophic or theological, question: Life begins when the chromosomes of the sperm fuse with those of the ovum, forming a distinctive DNA complex that controls the new organism’s growth. This growth process continues unless a natural accident interrupts it, or it is ended by the sort of deliberate violence Planned Parenthood sells.

Another video shows the craftsmanship of Planned Parenthood’s abortionists — tiny limbs and hands from dismembered babies. To the craftsmen, however, these fragments are considered mere organic stuff. People who proclaim themselves both pro-choice and appalled by the videos are flinching from the logic of their extremism.

Cecile Richards, Planned Parenthood’s president, apologizes “for the tone” of her operatives’ chatter about crushing babies. But the tone flows from Planned Parenthood’s premise: Why be solemn about meat?

Even partial-birth abortion is — must be — a sacrament in the Church of “Choice.” This sect knows that its entire edifice depends on not yielding an inch on its insistence that what an abortion kills never possesses a scintilla of moral significance.

In partial-birth abortion, a near-term baby is pulled by the legs almost out of the birth canal, until the base of the skull is exposed so the abortionist can suck out its contents.

During Senate debates on this procedure, three Democrats were asked: Suppose a baby’s head slips out of the birth canal — the baby is born — before the abortionist can kill it. Does the baby then have a right to live? Two of the Democrats refused to answer. The third said the baby acquires a right to life when it leaves the hospital.

The nonnegotiable tenet in today’s Democratic Party catechism is not opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline or support for a $15 minimum wage. These are evanescent fevers. As the decades roll by, the single unshakable commitment is opposition to any restriction on the right to inflict violence on pre-born babies.

So today there is a limitless right to kill, and distribute fragments of, babies that intrauterine medicine can increasingly treat as patients. We are wallowing in this moral swamp because the Supreme Court accelerated the desensitization of the nation by using words and categories about abortion the way infants use knives and forks — with gusto, but sloppily.

Because Planned Parenthood’s snout is deep in the federal trough, decent taxpayers find themselves complicit in the organization’s vileness. What kind of a government disdains the deepest convictions of citizens by forcing them to finance what they see in videos — Planned Parenthood operatives chattering about bloody human fragments?

“Taxes,” said Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr., “are what we pay for civilized society.” Today they finance barbarism. (George Will)

And the Leftists Holy Agenda that shall not be questioned or deterred at any level and The Republicans have no conviction (as usual) to stop them.

Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois bucked his Republican colleagues yesterday and sided with Senate Democrats to keep taxpayer money flowing to Planned Parenthood. Kirk, who has a 25 percent rating from NARAL (the nation’s leading pro-abortion group), defended his vote to sustain the Democratic filibuster on the grounds that Planned Parenthood does not sell baby parts in his home state of Illinois.

(Kirk had a 100 percent rating from NARAL back in 2003, but NARAL reduced his rating to 25 percent after he opposed the provision of Obamacare that allowed for taxpayer funding of abortion. Kirk has said he is against such public funding, even though he remains pro-abortion. Which just shows you how extreme the Left is about adherence to their Agenda.)

“In other states tissue donation programs should be investigated but in Illinois there is no similar program,” Kirk said in a statement to The Hill. “I do not plan to cut access to basic health care and contraception for women, the majority of whom have no other resources.”

Apparently, it was of no consequence to the senator that Planned Parenthood illegally sells baby parts in the United States, the country whose laws Kirk has sworn to defend.

Illinois is his country. His bread and butter, and it’s very Liberal. So as a matter of survival for his political career he does what a politicians does best– narcissism.

So then, Illinois is an Island. 🙂

The Agenda is The Agenda…and I just hate women and want them to suffer, obviously. 🙂

Whine & Cheese Monday

I have been in a news blackout for the weekend. My annual trek to Gallifrey One, the largest “Doctor Who” convention on this continent. A record breaking 2,100 people showed to share their love and appreciation of the world’s longest running Sci-Fi show that will turn 48 late this year.

So now back to the sad reality…

WISCONSIN DEMS: WE’RE ON THE LAM UNTIL WALKER TALKS

Aka he gives in and capitulates to the Liberals demands. Thats spirit of “compromise”, “bi-partisanship” and “civility” is alive in Madison, WI.

The headline and following picture are on the front page of the Huffington Post, you know the liberal bastion that just joined with AOL making Arianna Huffington a very rich person in a very capitalistic deal… 🙂

Funny last time I saw signs similar to this the protesters were called “astroturf”, “stupid”, “morons”, “idiots”, violent”, “domestic terrorists”…Oh sorry that was people protesting the Liberals! 🙂

This was considered “offensive” by the Huffington Post in 2009 (Look it up):

How dare they use Children! EVIL!
How many children can you spot in the first picture on the front page of today’s Huffington Post. 🙂

Just remember, Do as I say, Not as I do. – The Liberal Creed!  🙂

The Wisconsin Senate I understand is still childishly hiding out in Illinois, probably on the taxpayers dime!

And the Liberals are happy!

These are “good” Protesters. Tea Party protesters are EVIL!

Wisconsin Republicans to move all the furniture around while Dems are hiding in Illinois — If Wisconsin’s Democratic state senators thought they pulled a fast one by booking it for Illinois rather than allowing their Republican colleagues to rescind the collective bargaining privileges of public servants, they thought wrong. While twenty senators are required for a quorum on fiscal issues, and there are only 19 Republicans, “a simple majority of 17 members constitutes a quorum for other bills in the 33-seat state senate.” When Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker calls the Senate into session this week, “there is a whole legislative agenda that Republicans in the senate and assembly can start acting on that only requires simple majorities” Walker told National Review Online. “If [Dems] want to do their jobs, and have a say, they better show up.” (DC)

The Liberal View (from the San Jose Sentinel): MADISON, Wis. — To end a high-stakes stalemate over union rights that has captured the nation’s attention, a handful of Republican lawmakers in Wisconsin might have to stand up to their new governor.

There’s that spirit of “compromise” and “Bi-partisanship”. You will have to compromise YOUR principles. YOU will have to give in to OUR demands.

The very thought of they, the Liberals, having to compromise is so ludicrous they can’t even fathom it.

Protesters who crowded inside the Capitol for a sixth day Sunday had a similar message. They hung a banner in the Capitol reading “Wisconsin needs 3 cou(R)ageous Senators,” referring to the number of Republicans needed to join with Democrats to block the bill.

That’s why I say “bi-partisanship” and “compromise” are Liberal buzzwords for agree with me, shut up, and sit down and don’t do that again!

As for “civility”: Same thing.  You are being uncivil when you do as Liberal asks or you ask THEM to do something for you. You are their servants, not the other way around.

Wisconsin State Senator Mark Miller Calls Governor Scott Walker’s Budget Tactics ‘Insulting,’ Asks for ‘Respect’.

In other, shut up!, sit down, and don’t you dare do that again, young man!

“We hope that the governor will respect the workers of Wisconsin and maintain the long standing tradition of sitting down and negotiating issues, sit down and treat people like human beings, like the human beings that provided such valuable public services and that’s our goal,” he said.

Ohhh! So now The Governor’s an evil  inhuman monster!! And he should be talked to like a child who had knocked over the family’s priceless  crystal vase!

Next thing you know they’ll ask for a “time out” in the corner next. That is if they ever come back to Wisconsin and don’t just hide out like cowards in Illinois.

And then you go for the Talking Points: <<Drum roll please>>

“We had a much bigger deficit at the end of the Bush recession that hit our state and every state like a thunderclap. It was a $6.6 billion deficit and we solved that deficit and employees stepped up,” Miller told me. (ABC)

Oh course the huge budget deficit left by the Democrat Governor and the Democrat legislature is BUSH’s FAULT!!!

<<rimshot>>

So predictable….

What the Democrats don’t like isn’t dictatorship, it is democracy. That is why the Democrats in the Wisconsin Senate fled the state en masse–they prevented a quorum, so that a vote they were going to lose couldn’t take place. Once again, it is democracy they are trying to frustrate, not dictatorship.

Dictatorship are much easier for Liberals to fathom because then everyone has no choice but to do whatever they say, no matter how balmy and narcissistic it is.

With state budgets collapsing around the nation, an increasingly bright spotlight has been focused on the activities of many public sector unions, perhaps none more so than the teachers unions. Since most of the news is rather alarming to say the least, here at Hot Air we feel obliged to bring you a true feel-good story of union activity to brighten your winter days.

The story focuses on Central Falls school in Rhode Island, an educational institute in such a sorry state of affairs that their drop-out rates were staggering and many students didn’t even log enough classroom time to receive a grade. Last year, in an apparent sign of throwing up their hands in despair, the school board took the drastic measure of firing all 88 of Central Falls’ teachers.

Now, I already know what you’re thinking here. “But Jazz, what about those poor, unemployed teachers? Couldn’t anyone do anything to help them?”

Fear not! In charged the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers, who not only got all of their jobs back… they landed them a raise. And all of this is taking place in a community which wouldn’t even qualify as “working class” by most standards. The average wages in the Central Falls region are very low.

So in this town where the average income is $22,000 the average teacher is now making $76,000. What are the community members paying for?

James Parisi: The highest paid teachers are making about $76,000, which frankly I don’t think is enough for the committed professionals that are in that school district.

CNN: You had a 93% fail rate. That’s undeniable.

JP: And you think that’s caused by teacher’s actions?

CNN: Absolutely.

JP: I don’t think the teachers are responsible.

Oh course not!…sing it with me….IT WAS GEORGE W BUSH’s FAULT!!!!!!!! 🙂

Frank Flynn, president of the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers, said he called Chafee Tuesday morning and asked him to help “move this school forward, because the students of Central Falls deserve nothing less.”

Ever notice how Liberals always want to look to the future or “move forward” (or “lean forward if you’re MSDNC) when people want to talk about their screw ups but they are obsessed with the past when they are talking about those who oppose them!

And how did that work out? Not so well, apparently, as 93% of the students are still failing to meet minimum standards in math and reading, with large numbers once again not even receiving a grade of any sort.

The teacher’s aren’t taking all of this unwanted attention lying down, though. This fall they staged a “sick out” in protest of the increasing demands for improved performance. Also, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten visited the area to demand that everyone “stop playing the blame game,” and focus on the real needs of the students. (These needs apparently don’t include new, better teachers in the opinion of Ms. Weingarten.)

So there you have it. The feel good story of the week. See? And you thought the unions weren’t out there doing anything productive. (Hot Air)

Why is failure, year after year, not only tolerated but welcomed at the administrative level?

Why?

Because Liberals are never wrong, that’s why. At least they think so.

And you can’t prove them wrong, because they never are.

Just ask them. 🙂

Class Warfare Breaks Out

For the last couple of days there has been near riotous mob of angry people protesting the  government.
They have signs saying the guy in charge is a dictator.
The compare him to Hitler.
The call him Satan.
He’s evil incarnate.
They say things no one should reprint.
“Kill The Bill” was a chanting war cry!!!

But it’s not a Tea Party Rally.
It’s a Union Protest!
Yes, the “civility” and “bi-Partisan” Left is mad as hornets at the Governor Of Wisconsin.
And the Liberal media loves them for it.

And his crime?
Asking fat cat, narcissistic Liberal Unions members to contribute more to their own pensions

and health benefits (even less than private sector workers).
Well, you’d think he just outlawed Cheese or the Packers or said something derogatory about Muslims!
Because the Unions surely have declared Jihad.

Teachers have staged sick outs.
The 14 Democrats from the State Senate have snuck off to a resort in Illinois (at taxpayer expense no doubt) to prevent the vote on the bill from happening.

And the protesters are yelling and have signage portraying things even I won’t print.
But that’s ok, because it’s liberal outrage. That’s politically acceptable to the Left and The Media.

It’s righteous, in fact.

And I’m sure they would all agree that it’s not “uncivil” the crude things they are saying about their Governor. After all, they are the ones saying them, so they can’t possibly be wrong.

So just remember, when a leftist complains about your “hate speech” just try poking their sacred cows and you’ll get so much toxic vitriol that it will make your great-great-grandmother blush with embarrassment and make sailors look like saints.

And the hypocrisy of it all is completely lost on them, by them way.
Because, after all, it’s “Do what I say! Not what I do”.
They can do it. You can’t.
Simple.

And the president is behind them. “Some of what I’ve heard coming out of Wisconsin, where you’re just making it harder for public employees to collectively bargain generally, seems like more of an assault on unions,” President Obama told TMJ4 in Milwaukee.

He’s supporting these “terrorists” (as the Tea party was called) and there are reports that his campaign committee has sent “operatives” into the situation to help fight the evil anti-union thugs. 🙂 The Democratic National Committee’s Organizing for America arm — the remnant of the 2008 Obama campaign — is playing an active role in organizing protests against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
But that’s not “astroturf” though.

The State of Wisconsin was overwhelming turned into a Republican legislature in 2010 by the voters who had had enough of overspending and debt.
The State is 3.6 Billion in the red thanks to the Liberals.
Now the Republicans want to do something about it that doesn’t involves “taxing the rich” and overregulating and strangling businessmen. Class Warfare, where’s the Class Warfare!!?? The Left would ask.
And that’s what makes the Left mad.
They are the spoilt children of a greedy generation and they don’t want to have to be more grown -up about it.
They just want to sit in the State house in Madison and wave their hateful and very uncivil signs and yell and scream about Hitler and The Governor are equivalent.
You will not take away any of their toys.
It’s there’s and you can’t make them pay for it! They are ENTITLED.
“We are all willing to come to the table. We’ve all been willing from day one,” said Madison teacher Rita Miller. “But you can’t take A, B, C, D and everything we’ve worked for in one fell swoop.”

Seems to me, when this agrument was made about ObamaCare to the Liberals they laughed it off and said you can’t possible do it “piece meal”.

What is good for the Liberal Goose is not good for the Anti-Liberal Gander apparently. These are rules set up by Liberals to benefit Liberals and you aren’t suppose to challenge your superiors on it.

They will just sit down, hold their breath, and turn blue.
Then the media will come along and do their children-are-being-hurt,you’ll have no police,  no firefighters (even though they were exempt in the bill) the media and the Left don’t care.

It’s point scoring time!
Armageddon has come to earth and landed in Madison, Wisconsin.
The End of the World has arrived.
It’s the End of Days!
Yeah, it’s the end of Let’s spend our way out of debt and tax the rich to make up for it.
Oh, and state employees will have to actually contribute real money to their lavish pensions and massively generous health care.
EVIL!
Pure EVIL! 🙂

But if you get 250,000 people protesting the Left, say on ObamaCare, well, they are just  “astroturf”, “stupid”, “dupes”, morons and will have scron and ridicule heeped on them by the ton. The amount of ridicule and contempt a Liberal has for people who disagree with them is incalculable.
But in Madison, they are courageous freedom fighters fighters for your children and they are all saintly in every way–while they are yelling that their Governor is Hitler!! 🙂

But don’t ever call them “astroturf”, “stupid”, “morons”, “domestic terrorists” while they are calling you a turd, a dictator, or other very uncivil things.
Because they are the Left, and only their rules apply.

America, what a country!

BUT DON’T EVER TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING “UNCIVIL”!!! 🙂

The Silly News of the Week

What’s wrong with this picture? Illegal aliens and terrorists from Islamic countries are flooding into the United States on a daily basis, but a little boy in the UK has been denied a vacation to Disney World with his grandparents by US Immigration because he reportedly posed a “threat” of not leaving the country after his vacation.

Seriously. No Joke!

The story was in the UK Telegraph.

Way to go Janet! Yeah, we have to keep 9 year old British schoolkids out of the country, they are evil!

Mexican Drug Cartels, Coyotes, criminals, and gangs on the other hand, not so much…

TUSCON SHOOTING UPDATE: The Far Left at NPR are having a moment of “Brown Relief” over Jared Lee Loughner.

More brilliant insight coming from NPR.

Daisy Hernandez, former editor of ColorLines magazine, is relieved that Jared Loughner is a “gringo” or white man rather than a “brown” man after the shootings over the weekend.

From NPR:

I wasn’t the only person on Saturday who rushed to her Android when news came of the Tucson shooting.

What I wanted to know was the killer’s surname.

My eyes scanned the mobile papers. I held my breath. Finally, I saw it: Jared Loughner. Not a Ramirez, Gonzalez or Garcia. It’s safe to say there was a collective sigh of brown relief when the Tucson killer turned out to be a gringo.

I admit sadly that it was only after I saw the shooter’s gringo surname that I was able to go on and read the rest of the news about those who lost their lives on Saturday and those who, like Rep. Giffords, were severely wounded.

Which side is bringing up the race issue again? (Townhall.com)

But don’t worry, if you complain to NPR you’ll be the racist! 🙂

**********************************************

Illinois, ignoring the axiom that when you tax something you get less of it, expects economic activity to be unaffected by these disincentives and expects the added revenues to close a $15 billion budget shortfall. Ignoring another axiom — that when you’re in a hole, stop digging — the legislation that Gov. Pat Quinn signed allows a 2% increase in spending.

In addition to its budget shortfall, Illinois owes $6 billion to vendors and has unfunded pension liabilities estimated to be as high as $78 billion.

“It’s like living next door to ‘The Simpsons’ — you know, the dysfunctional family down the block,” Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, a possible 2012 GOP presidential candidate, said in an interview on Chicago’s WLS-AM. Daniels notes that Illinois-based Caterpillar recently chose to make a major investment in Indiana with a plant to build locomotives in Muncie.

According to the Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan research group in Washington, the tax hike would force Illinois businesses to pay the highest combined national-local corporate tax rate in the industrialized world.

And you know the liberals will be both surprised and angry (at business) when it falls flat on it face.

It was your fault!! 🙂

Americans for Tax Reform found that the average personal income-tax rate in states losing seats was a high 6.05%. The average rate in states gaining seats was a more modest 2.8%. Per capita government spending is also lower: $4,008 for the gainers, $5,117 for the losers. (IBD)

Tom Brokaw on MSDNC:

Gun control is too simple a phrase to define all the complications and nuances of it, frankly. In Arizona they have a wide open system. I would be nervous about going into a bar or restaurant in Arizona on a Saturday night where people can carry concealed without permits.

Gee, thanks Tom for your uninformed, hyberbolic, liberal BS. Don’t bother coming then.

Go to Illinois instead, they’ll need the cash.

******************************************************************

<Bill> Maher said that Tea Party members are crude and poorly educated, people who the founding fathers would have wanted to keep far from political influence.

“The one thing they never argued about was that political power must stay in the hands of the smartest people,” said Maher, “and out of the hands of the dumbest loudmouths slowing down the checkout line at Home Depot.”

Gee, thanks Bill. I always value the opinion of a Liberal Marxist Elitist who things he’s funny.

Yeah, I’ll take that under advisement.

******************************************************************

Chris “tingle up my leg” Matthews ‘Journalist’ at MSDNC:

“Sam, it seems to me it is a big question,” Matthews said. “So much of this attack on Obama has been ad hominem – directed at the person of the president, whether it’s somebody – some cracker out there on the right calling him — some birther-type who says he’s not an American or someone more sophisticated but basically saying he’s a socialist. Will this be on the merits of the bill? Will it stay off the personal? Is it your hunch coming into Wednesday’s vote?”

Ad hominem much, Chris?  hateful much?? And that softball question was squishy you have to squeeze Lake Michigan out of it!

So on that note, the culmination of this silliness with a compilation of sorts.

A shameful week for America’s liberal elites. The top 10 most ridiculous left-wing attacks on US conservatives following the Arizona shootings

By Nile Gardner, UK Telegraph

I have compiled below a list of some of the most egregious examples of Leftist hysteria over the past week. It is by no means an exhaustive list – this list could easily be expanded to 20 or 30 further instances, especially crude statements from liberal politicians. New York Times columnist Paul Krugman was among the very first to link the mass shooting to conservatives, and two of his hugely irresponsible pieces feature in the list below. The list also includes a major article from American Guardian writer Michael Tomasky, as an example of how the Left-wing vitriol of the last week emanated not only from the east and west coasts of the United States, but also in some cases from across the Atlantic.

So here is my top 10 list, which Telegraph readers will no doubt wish to add to in their comments.

1. Paul Krugman, The New York Times, January 8, 2011

We don’t have proof yet that this was political, but the odds are that it was. She’s been the target of violence before. And for those wondering why a Blue Dog Democrat, the kind Republicans might be able to work with, might be a target, the answer is that she’s a Democrat who survived what was otherwise a GOP sweep in Arizona, precisely because the Republicans nominated a Tea Party activist.

You know that Republicans will yell about the evils of partisanship whenever anyone tries to make a connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc. and the violence I fear we’re going to see in the months and years ahead. But violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate.

2. Keith Olbermann, MSNBC, January 8, 2011

This morning in Arizona, this time of the ever-escalating, borderline-ecstatic invocation of violence in fact or in fantasy in our political discourse, closed. It is essential tonight not to demand revenge, but to demand justice; to insist not upon payback against those politicians and commentators who have so irresponsibly brought us to this time of domestic terrorism, but to work to change the minds of them and their supporters – or if those minds tonight are too closed, or if those minds tonight are too unmoved, or if those minds tonight are too triumphant, to make sure by peaceful means that those politicians and commentators and supporters have no further place in our system of government.

If Sarah Palin, whose website put and today scrubbed bullseye targets on 20 Representatives including Gabby Giffords, does not repudiate her own part in amplifying violence and violent imagery in politics, she must be dismissed from politics – she must be repudiated by the members of her own party, and if they fail to do so, each one of them must be judged to have silently defended this tactic that today proved so awfully foretelling, and they must in turn be dismissed by the responsible members of their own party.

3. Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, Press Conference, Tucson, January 8, 2011

When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous. And unfortunately, Arizona I think has become sort of the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry.

4. Michael Tomasky, The Guardian, January 9, 2011

Republicans and even Tea Partiers will have the sense – again, for a while – to steer clear of directly gun-related rhetoric. We won’t be hearing much in the near term about “second amendment remedies” and insurrection and so forth. But this will be temporary. Guns are simply too central to the mythology of the American right, as is the idea of liberty being wrested from tyrants only at gunpoint. For the American right to stop talking about armed insurrection would be like American liberals dropping the subjects of race and gender. It’s too encoded in conservative DNA.

… Direct responsibility for what happened Saturday? No. Mentally ill people are mentally ill. The Beatles weren’t responsible for the messages that Charles Manson heard in their music. But there’s a difference. Paul McCartney had no earthly reason to think that an innocent song about a fairground ride (Helter Skelter) would lead a man to commit barbarous acts of murder. Today’s Republicans and conservative commentators, however, surely understand the fire they’re playing with. But they do it, and a tragedy like Saturday’s won’t stop them, as long as they can maintain a phoney plausible deniability and as long as hate continues to pay dividends at the ballot box.

5. Paul Krugman, The New York Times, January 9, 2011

it’s the saturation of our political discourse — and especially our airwaves — with eliminationist rhetoric that lies behind the rising tide of violence.

Where’s that toxic rhetoric coming from? Let’s not make a false pretense of balance: it’s coming, overwhelmingly, from the right. It’s hard to imagine a Democratic member of Congress urging constituents to be “armed and dangerous” without being ostracized; but Representative Michele Bachmann, who did just that, is a rising star in the G.O.P.

And there’s a huge contrast in the media. Listen to Rachel Maddow or Keith Olbermann, and you’ll hear a lot of caustic remarks and mockery aimed at Republicans. But you won’t hear jokes about shooting government officials or beheading a journalist at The Washington Post. Listen to Glenn Beck or Bill O’Reilly, and you will.

… So will the Arizona massacre make our discourse less toxic? It’s really up to G.O.P. leaders. Will they accept the reality of what’s happening to America, and take a stand against eliminationist rhetoric? Or will they try to dismiss the massacre as the mere act of a deranged individual, and go on as before? If Arizona promotes some real soul-searching, it could prove a turning point. If it doesn’t, Saturday’s atrocity will be just the beginning.

6. Michael Daly, The New York Daily News, January 9, 2011

But anyone with any sense at all knows that violent language can incite actual violence, that metaphor can incite murder. At the very least, Palin added to a climate of violence.

And, now that Palin may have the blood of more than some poor caribou on her hands, I wonder if she will continue putting people in cross hairs and calling on folks to RELOAD!

7. George Packer, The New Yorker, January 10, 2011

But it won’t do to dig up stray comments by Obama, Allen Grayson, or any other Democrat who used metaphors of combat over the past few years, and then try to claim some balance of responsibility in the implied violence of current American politics. (Most of the Obama quotes that appear in the comments were lame attempts to reassure his base that he can get mad and fight back, i.e., signs that he’s practically incapable of personal aggression in politics.)

In fact, there is no balance—none whatsoever. Only one side has made the rhetoric of armed revolt against an oppressive tyranny the guiding spirit of its grassroots movement and its midterm campaign. Only one side routinely invokes the Second Amendment as a form of swagger and intimidation, not-so-coyly conflating rights with threats.

Only one side’s activists bring guns to democratic political gatherings. Only one side has a popular national TV host who uses his platform to indoctrinate viewers in the conviction that the President is an alien, totalitarian menace to the country. Only one side fills the AM waves with rage and incendiary falsehoods. Only one side has an iconic leader, with a devoted grassroots following, who can’t stop using violent imagery and dividing her countrymen into us and them, real and fake. Any sentient American knows which side that is; to argue otherwise is disingenuous.

8. Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva, in an interview with The Huffington Post, January 8, 2011

“The climate has gotten so toxic in our political discourse, setting up for this kind of reaction for too long. It’s unfortunate to say that. I hate to say that,” Grijalva said in an interview with The Huffington Post. “If you’re an opponent, you’re a deadly enemy,” Grijalva said of the mindset among Arizona extremists. “Anybody who contributed to feeding this monster had better step back and realize they’re threatening our form of government.”

Grijalva said that Tea Party leader Sarah Palin should reflect on the rhetoric that she has employed. “She — as I mentioned, people contributing to this toxic climate — Ms. Palin needs to look at her own behavior, and if she wants to help the public discourse, the best thing she could do is to keep quiet.”

9. Harold Meyerson, The Washington Post, January 12, 2011

The primary problem with the political discourse of the right in today’s America isn’t that it incites violence per se. It’s that it implants and reinforces paranoid fears about the government and conservatism’s domestic adversaries.

Much of the culture and thinking of the American right – the mainstream as well as the fringe – has descended into paranoid suppositions about the government, the Democrats and the president. This is not to say that the left wing doesn’t have a paranoid fringe, too. But by every available measure, it’s the right where conspiracy theories have exploded. A fabricated specter of impending governmental totalitarianism haunts the right’s dreams.

… That doesn’t make Beck, Erickson, Rupert Murdoch and their ilk responsible for Tucson. It does make them responsible for promoting a paranoid culture that makes America a more divided and dangerous land.

10. Jane Fonda, Twitter, January 8, 2011

And finally, Oscar-winning actress and liberal darling Jane Fonda emerged from hibernation and delivered some of the most tasteless tweets in the brief history of Twitter, brazenly exploiting the shooting of a Congresswoman to make a monumentally shallow political attack. (hat tip: NewsBusters)

Progressive Arizona Rep Gabrielle Giffords is shot. In her ads, Sarah Palin had her targeted in a gun site. Inciting to violence. 2:11 PM Jan 8th via Echofon

But don’t worry, according to the Left, they are the most tolerant, sensitive, rational, mature, caring, loving and Intellectually Superior beings on this planet.

Just ask them.

We’re doomed. 🙂

The News of The Day

My condolences to those killed in Tucson yesterday. And my best to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

This is not the way. Period.

But this is what all the divisive politics of the Left has wrought.

So now we have a new “crisis” for Obama to exploit.

What do you want to bet that later in the month we’ll have a push for Amnesty for Illegals in her name or the 9-year old girl that was killed in spray of bullets.

Yes, I am that cynical.

Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.”- Former Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel.

Am I that cynical? ‘Fraid so. We’ll see if it’s justified.

The Senior editor of The Leftist Huffington Post is talking about using this tragedy as a spring board for rebooting Obama’s image for 2012!!

As was the case with Clinton, Obama may be able to remind voters of what they like best about him: his sensible demeanor. Amid the din and ferocity of our political culture, he respectfully keeps his voice down, his emotions in check and his mind open.

That is the pitch, at least. The trick is to make it without seeming to be trying to make it.

In other words, fool them again!

Social Justice everyone. The Socialist Utopia.

Another potential “crisis” is Gun Control.

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”– Adolf Hitler

Candidate Obama in 2008: “You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

The shooters’ YouTube page, in which he lists both The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf among his favorite books, is still operational. Incidentally, Congresswoman Giffords is Jewish.

So watch out, it’s another Liberal “Crisis” so you’ll lose even more freedom for it.

The sheriff blamed the vitriolic political rhetoric that has consumed the country, much of it centered in Arizona.

“When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous,” he said. “And unfortunately, Arizona, I think, has become the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry.” (Huffington Post)

It’s all cracker’s fault! Damn those Tea Party ‘terrorists’.

We need Amnesty Now!

Sad isn’t it.

Or maybe the Christina Green (The 9 year old killed by the gunman) Memorial Gun Ban?

I wonder if the Democrats will run Rep. Giffords for Vice-President in 2012 or President in 2016?

Oooh, now that was  cynical thought! 🙂

The List:

-John Roll, 63, a federal district court judge.

-Gabriel Zimmerman, 30, Giffords’ director of community outreach

-Dorwin Stoddard, 76, a pastor at Mountain Ave. Church of Christ.

-Christina Greene, 9, a student at Mesa Verde Elementary

-Dorothy Morris, 76

-Phyllis Schneck, 79

Maybe, just maybe, some of the divisive rhetoric will be toned down….

Nah, I doubt it. Liberals are addicted to it.

But may the victims rest in peace and may we all learn the real lessons of this tragedy and not just more political advantage.

But I doubt it.

Mr “Boycott my State” because we all racist Rep. Grijalva:

Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.), who represents a district adjacent to Gabrielle Giffords’s, said that Saturday’s shooting is a consequence of the vitriolic rhetoric that has arisen over the past few years among extreme elements of the Tea Party.

Grijalva said that his family has been provided with protection and that he expects further precautions will be taken by Capitol Police when he returns to Capitol Hill.

“Her whole future’s ahead of her,” Grijalva said of Giffords. “She’s a moderate; I’m not. She’s my friend. Our difference of opinion did not interfere with our friendship.” (Huffington Post)

You see, the Tea Party and “Right Wing Extremist” made him do it. So we must clamp down on them!

Let’s watch and see, shall we.

So how long before it’s George W. Bush’s Fault?? 🙂

Illinois, one of the 3 states most identified with potential State Bankruptcy has a new plan to erase it’s $15 Billion deficit.

The state is run by Liberals.

So what do you suppose that could be?

Gov. Pat Quinn and the leaders of both houses of the Illinois General Assembly have agreed on raising the state income tax.

The Democratic leaders in the Illinois General Assembly believe this income tax increase, a corporate tax hike, and a $1-per-pack tax increase on cigarettes would erase the state’s $15 billion budget deficit.

What it will erase is anyone wanting to live in Illinois or locate a business there.

But, they are Liberals after all, they can only think along a very narrow Tax and Spend, evil Corporation line after all.

So Indiana and Iowa , Missouri and Wisconsin expect lots of refugees.

OBAMACARE UPDATE from THE CBO

The Liberals and The Leftist Media who are so in love with the CBO because they were saying that repealing Health Care would cost billions. Well, I doubt they will be touting this one : (Thanks to American Spectator)

The Congressional Budget Office, in an email to Capitol Hill staffers obtained by the Spectator, has said that repealing the national health care law would reduce net spending by $540 billion in the ten year period from 2012 through 2021. That number represents the cost of the new provisions, minus Medicare cuts. Repealing the bill would also eliminate $770 billion in taxes. It’s the tax hikes in the health care law (along with the Medicare cuts) which accounts for the $230 billion in deficit reduction.

CBO and the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) have not yet developed a detailed estimate of the budgetary impact of H.R. 2, the Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act, which would repeal the major health care legislation enacted in March 2010. Yesterday, we released a preliminary analysis of that legislation indicating that, over the 2012-2021 period, the effect of enacting H.R. 2 on the federal budget as a result of changes in direct spending and revenues is likely to be an increase in deficits in the vicinity of $230 billion, plus or minus the effects of forthcoming technical and economic changes to CBO’s and JCT’s projections for that period.

We have been asked to provide the revenue and direct spending components of that total.  Extrapolating the estimated budgetary effects of the original health care legislation and accounting for the effects of subsequent legislation, CBO anticipates that enacting H.R. 2 would probably yield, for the 2012-2021 period, a reduction in revenues in the neighborhood of $770 billion and a reduction in outlays in the vicinity of $540 billion, plus or minus the effects of forthcoming technical and economic changes to CBO’s and JCT’s projections.

CBO will post a Director’s blog with this information on the CBO website shortly.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

UNION UPDATE

The Grand Rapids Education Association, a local affiliate of Michigan’s largest teachers’ union, is attempting to pick off one-by-one 90-some members that have refused to pay their dues.

About 18 months ago, the school board voted to no longer deduct dues from employees’ paychecks, which meant union members had to physically write a check to the union. Many saw it as their opportunity to protest the obnoxious behavior of union leaders during a previous contract negotiation period. The union president, Paul Helder, was particularly pompous during negotiations, claiming the union was fighting a “war on terrorism.” He even established “War Time Committees” to organize the fight against the school board and administrators.

Marjorie Hayward objected to her president’s behavior and refused to pay up. So the union took her to small claims court.

The judge, citing the fact that Michigan is not a right-to-work state, ruled she has to fork over the money, regardless of whether or not the union is representing her interests.

Let that marinate for a bit – because of current Michigan law, the union has the right to take a school employee to court and extract money out of her. Isn’t that grand?

**********************

As if the $6 billion budget shortfall that he presided over didn’t really exist – a deficit that is expected to expand to a whopping $24.5 billion over the next eighteen months – outgoing Governor Arnold Governor Schwarzenegger had just called the legislature in to a “special session,” but then had called a press conference to announce his “really big plan.” For a second and final time before leaving office, he was going to try and legislate a state-wide ban on plastic grocery bags. This, he explained, would help save the planet, but would also help create so-called “green jobs.”

Indeed, this was a matter of “ideology trumping reality.” And never mind that Rome is burning -California will “be green.”

You may be broke, but you can still be “green”!

You just can’t make this stuff up.

But ideology still trumps reality in California, even in this new, “post Arnold” era. And so it was that, less than twenty-four hours after his inauguration, Governor Jerry Brown began laying the groundwork for raising taxes in California, rather than cutting government spending.

The problem with the state budget, so the Governor reasoned, was not that politicians had spent too much or that government agencies are wasteful. No, no, Californians aren’t taxed enough – they’ve been given an “unfair” break on their property taxes via the state’s famous, 32-year-old “Proposition 13,” and if that could be undone, then the state budget would be fixed.

Proposition 13, in case you’ve forgotten, was a landmark ballot proposition that drew a record number of voters to the precincts in 1978. The law passed in a landslide, and imposed a statewide limit on the rate at which local counties and cities could levy property taxes.

So all we have to do is spend our way to prosperity!

Sound familiar?

It’s a tragic day after in more ways than one.

The Most Expensive Congress in History: The 111th Congress.

http://video.foxnews.com/v/4476944/111th-congress-most-expensive-in-history/?playlist_id=86858

When Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave her inaugural address as speaker of the House in 2007, she vowed there would be “no new deficit spending.” Since that day, the national debt has increased by $5 trillion, according to the U.S. Treasury Department.

“After years of historic deficits, this 110th Congress will commit itself to a higher standard: Pay as you go, no new deficit spending,” Pelosi said in her speech from the speaker’s podium. “Our new America will provide unlimited opportunity for future generations, not burden them with mountains of debt.”

Pelosi has served as speaker in the 110th and 111th Congresses.

“Our new America will provide unlimited opportunity for future generations, not burden them with mountains of debt.”- Nancy Pelosi, 2007 inauguration speech.

At the close of business on Jan. 4, 2007, Pelosi’s first day as speaker, the national debt was $8,670,596,242,973.04 (8.67 trillion), according to the Bureau of the Public Debt, a division of the U.S. Treasury Department.  At the close of business on Oct. 22, it stood at $13,667,983,325,978.31 (13.67 trillion), an increase of 4,997,387,083,005.27 (or approximately $5 trillion). WHOOPS!

Some of the world’s strongest banks have profited from an emergency credit facility set up by the US Federal Reserve to shore up confidence in the global financial system, according to a Financial Times analysis of data released by the Fed.

More than half of lending under the Fed’s term auction facility – the largest of its crisis programmes – went to foreign banks. Details of the varied uses to which they put it may add to political criticism of the Fed.

The Taf was set up in December 2007 to provide one-month loans to creditworthy banks as markets dried up for lending longer than overnight. In August 2008, it began offering three-month loans as well.

Rabobank of the Netherlands and Toronto-Dominion of Canada, two of the only banks in the world with triple A credit ratings, used more than $20bn in cumulative Taf loans.

Ed Clark, TD chief executive, said that using Taf was logical even though his bank never had a liquidity problem. “That wasn’t how we made a lot of money. But you make a dollar here, you make a dollar there. What’s the spread you make on a billion dollars?” he said. (FT)

WHOOPS!

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. — Leaders of this city met for more than seven hours on a Saturday not long ago, searching for something to cut from a budget that has already been cut, over and over.

“We can make it until March 1 — maybe,” Mr. Cooper said of Hamtramck’s ability to pay its bills. Beyond that? The political leaders of this old working-class city almost surrounded by Detroit are pleading with the state to let them declare bankruptcy, a desperate move the state is not even willing to admit as an option under the current circumstances.

“The state is concerned that if they say yes to one, if that door is opened, they’ll have 30 more cities right behind us,” Mr. Cooper said, as flurries fell outside his City Hall window. “But anything else is just a stop gap. We’re going to continue to pursue bankruptcy until the door is shut, locked, barricaded, bolted.”

You mean the UAW is concerned. The UAW runs the State, or at least in Mafiaoso style they think they do. They have the politicians and media in their pockets and have for more than a generation.

They did when I was growing up in Michigan. Now with the Socialist Wheaties of the modern Liberals behind them I’m sure they are more Tony Soprano than Jimmy Hoffa.

And the last thing the UAW wants is to have their union busted by bankruptcies.

But the inevitable is coming. And THEY DON’T CARE!

Union pensions and benefits, not just the UAW, but Government Public Sector Unions also, and other private Unions have been sucking industry and the taxpayers dry for several generations but the cash cow is out of milk and endanger of dying altogether.

And you know what, THEY DON’T CARE!

Everyone must sacrifice for them. They are holy. They are sacrosanct.

They are untouchable.

So they believe. And since they have been buying Democrats for generations they will be the Pied Piper to all their slave rats.

Because THEY DON’T CARE.

And ultimately, that is the lesson of the last 3 years of Pelosi-Reid and Obama.

They said all the right things to get their hands on your throat and then they throttled you with debt to pass their 90 year old Socialist wet dreams and they are still at it and will be still at it with control of the Senate and the President.

THEY DON’T CARE.

They, and the Unions, are the ultimate in GREED and CORRUPTION.

Prichard, Ala., which stopped paying monthly checks to retired city workers when its pension fund ran out last year, is appealing a bankruptcy judge’s ruling that it did not qualify for Chapter 9 under Alabama law.

And they telegraphed it ahead of time, and no one cared.

A Liberals personal pursuit of everyone else’s money for their own benefit, economically or politically, is all they care about.

It’s all about THEM.

Screw you.

Now that’s your “kind”, “Compassionate” and “caring” Liberals who are always looking out for “the little guy”.

To crush them into slavery and steal everyone else’s wealth and power from themselves.

Officials in Detroit announced this year that they had for years overpaid Hamtramck in a revenue-sharing deal related to a General Motors plant that sits smack on the border of the two cities. The dispute is likely to be resolved, eventually, in court, but meanwhile, Detroit has stopped paying $2 million a year, and Hamtramck is watching a growing gap in its $18 million budget.

Could it be that these “overpayments” were ok until Detroit had to hide it’s own budget woes so they passed it on to another city?

Hmmm….

“Detroit is cutting police, lighting, road repairs and cleaning services affecting as much as 20% of the population,” the Guardian’s Elena Moya noted late Monday, writing about the 60 Minutes piece. “The city, which has been on the skids for almost two decades with the decline of the US auto industry, does not generate enough wealth to maintain services for its 900,000 inhabitants.”

BINGO!

City Manager Bill Cooper said the city of roughly 20,000 people is staring at a $3 million deficit.
California, which faces a $19 billion (some say as high as $26 Billion) budget deficit next year, has a credit rating approaching junk status. It now spends more money on public employee pensions than it does on the state university system, which had to increase its tuition by 32 percent.
“This is the state of affairs in Illinois. Is not pretty,” Illinois state Comptroller Dan Hynes told Kroft.

Hynes is the state’s paymaster. He currently has about $5 billion in outstanding bills in his office and not enough money in the state’s coffers to pay them. He says they’re six months behind.

“The state’s a deadbeat,” Kroft remarked.

“Yeah. I mean, the state of Illinois is known as a deadbeat state. This is a reputation that has taken us years to earn and we’ve reached, you know, the heights of, I think, becoming the worst in the country,” Hynes said. (CBS)

The home of our President, Done Proud. 🙂
Unions have a $3 Trillion Dollar appetite and it’s insatiable. And THEY DON’T CARE.
No one is talking about it now, but the big test will come this spring. That’s when $160 billion in federal stimulus money, that has helped states and local governments limp through the great recession, will run out.
You thought TARP was for the “economy”. No, it wasn’t.
It was for the state employee unions and foreign banks.
That’s running out.
Now the wheels of this Cadillac are about to go bald and flat.
Now this is driving a car into a ditch.
And I guarantee you, the Liberals and the Unions DON’T CARE!

Mr. Cooper, the city manager (of Hamtramck), says that everything else that could be cut already has been, while the city goes on spending 60 percent of its total general fund (of an $18 million dollar budget) to pay for its police and firefighting forces — 75 current police officers and firefighters and about 240 former workers and spouses now on pensions. Mr. Cooper said that an entry-level police officer costs the city about $75,000 a year in salary and benefits, and yet repeated efforts to renegotiate contracts have failed.

“They kind of have the Cadillac plan,” Mr. Cooper said, “and we’d kind of like the Chevy.”

Trust me, Unions of all types love Cadillacs.

Growing up in Flint,Mi the one-time home of 7 auto plants and an AC Delco Engine Plant. “Buick City” it was called (there was a billboard proclaiming this 10 miles south of town near Fenton off I-75).

It had a population of 250,000 when I was growing up. Last year it was 125,000 and everyone of those plants had closed years ago.

But growing up my friends and I always said that only 2 kinds of people drove Cadillacs, Pimps and Auto Workers. So no much difference there.

That was the 1970’s. In 40 years it hasn’t gotten any better.

(Found, Mr. Cooper says, posted on the wall of the firefighters’ barracks was his name — crossed out — on a list of former city managers and the word “Next?”)

So let the extortion begin. It’s the only tactic Unions use. Economic and political hardball extortion.

After all, dozens of Unions have been exempted from ObamaCare and their “Cadillac” Health Plans are exempt until 2018.

So it’s not like they care or anything.

“I’m not going to wait for two hours for a cop to show up,” said Shannon Lowell, the co-owner of a coffee shop. “We’ve trimmed every bit of fat. What else are we going to do? Borrow money from our dying grandmother?” (NYT)

Yep. That would also be the grandma who the government is going to pull the plug on because she’s a burden to society according to Medicare and Medicaid Director Dr. Donald Berwick.
