The Purple Card

I’ll say upfront in my heart I am one of those “those the bums out” ‘racists’ because I’m just sick and tired of illegal aliens getting better treatment than actual citizens or LEGAL immigrants because politicians want to play both sides and do nothing about it.

But I like this plan. I endorse this plan and I would advocate for this plan by Derek Hunter.

A lot of sounds like someone has to step up and being the alpha parent who doesn’t take the unruly kids crap anymore.

What it comes down to is discipline. Something a politicians is very squishy about and The Left has totally abandoned.

But discipline is fair. Which is why they don’t want to do it in reality. They just want to score their political points and move on leaving the mess for someone else to clean up, but they don’t because they make their own mess and we, The American people, are left with what’s left after this mutual ass-kissing frat party.

Immigration is not going anywhere as a political issue, as much as some would like it to.

Although Democrats and the media whine over the term “anchor baby” and the concept of our national sovereignty, adults have to address real problems, and millions of people in the country illegally is a problem. So let’s address it, shall we?

Big business and big government love the idea of amnesty; cheap labor for one, a dependent voting bloc for the other. To that end, both agree to the lie that amnesty would be a boon to the economy.

Somehow we’re meant to believe employers of these low-skilled workers suddenly will decide the added expense of having legal workers on the payroll (payroll taxes, worker’s comp insurance, etc.) will be worth their clean conscience, or the fear of a previously unenforced fine will force their hand. They’re already willingly breaking the law. Why stop simply because those who’ve enabled you to do so are threatening to enforce it at some nebulous date in the future?

As for the illegal aliens, their desires never should be considered a priority over Americans. Those not on public assistance either knowingly work “under the table” or with stolen identities. Either way, who cares? Any choice they’ve made was a choice made of free will knowing the consequences.

No covering it up with ideologically convenient excuses.

The only reason to consider anything other than deportation is the expense. But there’s a way around that and to fix the mess politicians of both parties have created.

I’ve written about this before, but allow me to clarify and expand on it again in the hope that one or more of the feckless Republicans running for president decide meaningless platitudes does not a plan make.

First: Seal the borders. No one gets in, from anywhere, until we deal with those who are already here. That means heavy patrols on the southern border and immediate removal of those sneaking across. No excuses, no exceptions. Those seeking refugee status have the rest of the world to choose from; we have to get our house in order.

That always has to be the first step. It’s the one neither party actually wants to do. It is the hardest one also. But it is the most necessary. Without this, the rest of it is meaningless.

Second: Create a “Purple Card” to be offered to those here illegally who can prove they are employed. For lack of a better word, it is a form of amnesty. It will allow them to continue to work legally for a set number of years, after which it can be renewed if no crimes, not even misdemeanors, have been committed. If convicted of a crime, you’re out, no matter what.

1 Strike and you’re out. The hardest thing for politicians will be having the political will to mean it, no exceptions, no deals, no back room compromises.

Especially, in the face of the Left’s “racist” rants.

Illegal aliens will have one year after the border is sealed to apply for a Purple Card. They must provide fingerprints that will remain on file permanently and be accessible to law enforcement. There will be a processing fee. If they can’t come up with it, they add so little to the country that they should not qualify.

Like the Left’s lame excuse for Voter ID. If you can produce an ID for Movie Rental you can produce one for Voting.

No excuses.

After they are checked out and receive a Purple Card, they are free to work in this country for the specified number of years, renewable in perpetuity, as long as they are law abiding. They must verify they are working six months of every year. If they are unemployed for more than two months in any given 12-month period, they’re out. If they’re here to work, as we’re told, a work requirement shouldn’t be an issue.

So they have to live up to their own hype. Shouldn’t be too hard, right?:)

By accepting the Purple Card, they receive the right to work and freely move about the country, as well as to leave and return. But they never, ever can obtain U.S. citizenship. Their children, guests in our country just as they are, cannot become U.S. citizens, even those born here during their Purple Card time. We will educate them, but they are not Americans. For that they must go through the legal process in their home country.

Third: They will pay all taxes owed from their earnings, including all FICA taxes. But they will be barred from ever collecting Social Security, qualifying for Medicaid or enrolling in Medicare. That is the price of admission, the price for violating our laws.

No freebies for cutting in line. Actions have consequences.

If, as Democrats say, immigration reform is about getting people “out of the shadows,” this does that. If, as Republicans say, they’re only here to work and help their families, this does that too. If it’s about something else, like creating voters who will undercut Americans’ votes, this will be opposed.

And it will be, because those are just excuses for ideological warfare. Democrats will call you a racist and Republicans will be passive aggressive.

We’re told illegal aliens only want to work to support their families. This allows for that. There will be minimal disruption of the economy since those illegal aliens actually here to work will be free to do just that. Others, criminals and non-contributors, will be weeded out.

Instead of just being the price of no discipline.

This must be coupled with an expedited deportation process. Anyone not willing to meet the criteria for this generous new plan made a choice, and that choice must have consequences. Committing a crime is another conscious choice, Americans must be protected from guests who would do them harm, in any way.

And from Politicians who would do them harm.

Citizenship, or even the right to live here on a temporary basis, is too precious to be handed out like Halloween candy.

Or as Political candy.

Any or all of this idea is available, free of charge, to any politician who wants it. Mix it, mold it, change it, but keep the concept. Citizenship, the end result of amnesty, is what Americans dislike the most. Show some innovative thinking by removing it as a possibility.

The Tolerant Left

The Supreme Court’s ruling against the Obamacare abortion pill mandate came as quite a blow to the Obama administration, which has consistently harangued that the mandate is “lawful and essential to women’s health.”

The White House took this argument yet a step further Monday, stating that bosses who decide not to provide contraceptive coverage to their employees will be jeopardizing women’s health.

This First Amendment victory is a huge success for every American. Employers have the liberty to follow their religious beliefs, and women have the freedom to work for whomever they choose to get the health care they “need.”

It’s a very PRO-CHOICE decision.:)

But of course this went against THE AGENDA to force it on you for your own good and deny you that freedom of choice, so the left is not happy.

“Women’s medical decisions can now be shaped by the gods their for-profit employers choose to worship.”

“The miseducation that some people have about women ONLY taking BC to prevent pregnancy is so sad- I’m gonna shut up now but seriously- wow”

Because Liberals want zero accountability.  If you ask for it, you should get it.  Not getting it means you’re being judged which means you’re being discriminated against which means you’re being oppressed which means a Republican is behind it.

The Obama administration is simply about the blind expansion of Executive – and Government – power.  The more power they get the less power we – the people – have.

This Supreme Court decision is a narrow victory but “religious liberty” stands just as much for Christians as it does for Jews, Muslims, and even Atheists.

It’s not being made to do something against your beliefs. (BIN)

Hobby Lobby did not object to all contraceptives, just certain types of abortifacients. Hobby Lobby employees are and always were able to buy birth-control pills and contraceptives on their own dime and time.

And we all know that’s “oppressive”!:)

In Consequential

Elections have Consequences:

President Obama’s election victory ensured his Affordable Care Act would remain the centerpiece of his first term in power – but that has left some business owners baulking at the extra cost Obamacare will bring.

Florida based restaurant boss John Metz, who runs approximately 40 Denny’s and owns the Hurricane Grill & Wings franchise has decided to offset that by adding a five percent surcharge to customers’ bills and will reduce his employees’ hours.

With Obamacare due to be fully implemented in January 2014, Metz has justified his move by claiming it is ‘the only alternative. I’ve got to pass on the cost to the customer.

The fast-food business owner is set to hold meetings at his restaurants in December where he will tell employees, ‘that because of Obamacare, we are going to be cutting front-of-the-house employees to under 30 hours, effective immediately.’

Obamacare requires businesses or franchises with more than 50 workers must offer an approved insurance plan or pay a penalty of $2,000 for each full-time worker over 30 workers.

The program mandates that only employees working more than 30 hours a week are covered under their employers health insurance plan, chains like Olive Garden and Red Lobster are already considering reduced worker hours. (KFYI)

President Obama and the heads of several labor unions and prominent liberal groups met at the White House on Tuesday at an event that was more pep rally than negotiating session.

“The president has been very clear for quite a while now on the tax cuts on the wealthiest 2 percent — that they need to be eliminated,” said Dennis Van Roekel, the head of the National Education Association (NEA). “Of course, there was no disagreement in that room.”

At the meeting itself and in conversations afterward, activists were keen to stress agreement with the president on the tax issue.

“It was a great meeting. The president was really standing firm on taxes. Everyone talked about how much they have the president’s back in this fight,” Neera Tanden, the president of the Center for American Progress, said afterward.

Attendees said Obama was “very clear” on where he stood on taxes. “He’s not just clear, he didn’t just draw a line in the sand, he spray-painted it,” one participant said.

This is Obama’s “new ideas” and his seeking “compromise” with the Republicans on this issue, by the way.:)

Obama told the participants that the “campaign isn’t over,” and asked for their help.

Don’t that just give you the warm fuzzies?:)

Hostess Brands CEO warned the company will liquidate unless striking workers returned to the job by the end of the day on Thursday. Now, that four o’clock Central Time deadline has come and gone.

“We simply do not have the financial resources to survive an ongoing national strike,” Gregory Rayburn said in a statement on Wednesday.

Hostess has not made any official announcement beyond the CEO’s statement. Any update on liquidation would come on Friday.

Eyewitness News has learned insurance, health and welfare benefits for striking workers have been cancelled.

Workers are protesting a contract imposed by a bankruptcy court. The contract calls for an 8 percent pay cut in addition to health care and pension changes. The bakers union has called the contract “outrageous.”

A liquidation would result in some 18,000 workers losing their jobs and an uncertain future for American icons Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread.

Win the Strike, Lose your Jobs. Good Going guys!

I guess they’ll have to go on the public dole instead of the union dole and apply for some Obama Money and an Obama Phone.

We’ll see.

Perhaps what all these petulant employees don’t realize is that companies are in business to earn a profit.  If they can’t, there is nothing with which to pay employees (or hire more of them).  So while it may be emotionally satisfying to “stick it to the man” through strikes and protests, perhaps the disgruntled should take a look around, realize that the economy isn’t too great, and keep in mind that they may end up doing serious damage to companies they are counting on to help them feed their families.

Sure, if the companies go out of business, the unemployed will get government benefits.. . for awhile.  But after awhile, if too many businesses go under, who exactly is supposed to provide the tax revenues that subsidize those benefits? (townhall)

Why, THE RICH of course!!

Oh right, the employers are the rich, whoops!:)

Known and Unknown

Thomas Sowell: When Donald Rumsfeld was Secretary of Defense, he coined some phrases about knowledge that apply far beyond military matters. Secretary Rumsfeld pointed out that there are some things that we know that we know. He called those “known knowns.” We may, for example, know how many aircraft carriers some other country has. We may also know that they have troops and tanks, without knowing how many. In Rumsfeld’s phrase, that would be an “unknown known” — a gap in our knowledge that we at least know exists. Finally, there are things we don’t even know exist, much less anything about them. These are “unknown unknowns” — and they are the most dangerous. We had no clue, for example, when dawn broke on September 11, 2001, that somebody was going to fly two commercial airliners into the World Trade Center that day. There are similar kinds of gaps in our knowledge in the economy. Unfortunately, our own government creates uncertainties that can paralyze the economy, especially when these uncertainties take the form of “unknown unknowns.” The short-run quick fixes that seem so attractive to so many politicians, and to many in the media, create many unknowns that make investors reluctant to invest and employers reluctant to employ. Politicians may only look as far ahead as the next election, but investors have to look ahead for as many years as it will take for their investments to start bringing in some money. The net result is that both our financial institutions and our businesses have had record amounts of cash sitting idle while millions of people can’t find jobs. Ordinarily these institutions make money by investing money and hiring workers. Why not now? Because numerous and unpredictable government interventions create many unknowns, including “unknown unknowns.” The quick fix that got both Democrats and Republicans off the hook with a temporary bipartisan tax compromise, several months ago, leaves investors uncertain as to what the tax rate will be when any money they invest today starts bringing in a return in another two or three or ten years. It is known that there will be taxes but nobody knows what the tax rate will be then. Some investors can send their investment money to foreign countries, where the tax rate is already known, is often lower than the tax rate in the United States and — perhaps even more important — is not some temporary, quick-fix compromise that is going to expire before their investments start earning a return.

Although more foreign investments were coming into the United States, a few years ago, than there were American investments going to foreign countries, today it is just the reverse. American investors are sending more of their money out of the country than foreign investors are sending here.

Since 2009, according to the Wall Street Journal, “the U.S. has lost more than $200 billion in investment capital.” They add: “That is the equivalent of about two million jobs that don’t exist on these shores and are now located in places like China, Germany and India.”

President Obama’s rhetoric deplores such “outsourcing,” but his administration’s policies make outsourcing an ever more attractive alternative to investing in the United States and creating American jobs.

Blithely piling onto American businesses both known costs like more taxes and unknowable costs — such as the massive ObamaCare mandates that are still evolving — provides more incentives for investors to send their money elsewhere to escape the hassles.

Hardly a month goes by without this administration coming up with a new anti-business policy — whether directed against Boeing, banks or other private enterprises. Neither investors nor employers can know when the next one is coming or what it will be. These are unknown unknowns.

Such anti-business policies would just be business’ problem, except that it is businesses that create jobs.

The biggest losers from creating an adverse business climate may not be businesses themselves — especially not big businesses, which can readily invest more of their money overseas. The biggest losers are likely to be working people in America, who cannot just relocate to Europe or Asia to take the jobs created there by American multinational corporations.

But at least the Class War Fare so loved by Liberals has a target rich environment (in their minds) because any “rich” person should be bludgeoned to the point of death to make up revenues for the Liberals to spend on their Socialism.

Not to cut spending. No paying down the debt. No, never that.

And any hint of doing that get’s them riled up and scare people on Social Security that the government won’t pay them because the Republican Boogieman is coming to get you!!

And I’m still waiting for the Republicans to buckle.

The Democrats have already stepped up the Class Warfare and the Fearmongering.

So all is right with the Political World….😦

That is well known.:)

Insanity Awaits Inexperienced Drivers

The Definition of Insanity it is said is to be doing the exact same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

The <California> State Board of Equalization has estimated there are 25,000  affiliates in California about 10,000 of them making money through  Amazon.

Not anymore, though. The State passed an “internet sales tax” where e-tailers must collect money for the state.
Amazon and Overstock had canceled 10’s of thousand of business affiliates.
And others may follow.
So those small business men now have even LESS business and even LESS revenue. So less sales. Less sales taxes from them.
So they’ll undoubtedly have LESS jobs.

Good job, Democrats!

Just days after the president’s class warfare shot at corporate jet manufacturers (the same ones they praised last March and in the stimulus bill) comes this fact:

Aircraft manufacturers, fuel suppliers, repair services and other segments of the industry employ 1.2 million people and generate $150 billion in economic activity, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.

Damn, that’s a lot of “rich” people.:)

So people buy less planes. There is less manufacturing and servicing, so people will be laid off…

“While such talk may appear to some as good politics, the reality is that it hurts one of the leading manufacturing and exporting industries in the United States,” Peter Bunce, president of the aviation manufacturers association, and Thomas Buffenbarger, president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, said in a letter to Obama.

Obama is trying to demonize the private plane industry and engage in class warfare, Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., said.

“The reality is that good people lose jobs when we play politics with an entire industry,” he said.

20,000 Jobs have been lost in recent years due to cutbacks in orders. This won’t help.

But at least we stuck it to those damn “rich” people!

“You go talk to your constituents and ask them, ‘Are you willing to compromise your kids’ safety so some corporate-jet owner can get a tax break?'”– Obama

The workers on the assembly lines, suppliers, maintenance and sales people, need not apply.:)

And he whipped up his “base” and fed the little raptors some  empty-calorie meat to devour.

And, of course, there is the chorus of  “but it’s fair!”:)

And we wouldn’t want to be unfair now would we….

The day before Obama’s remarks, the president praised Alcoa workers for making the wings of Air Force One during a trip to Iowa.

“Alcoa is showing us the future we can build here in eastern Iowa and across the country,” he proclaimed.

“The very next day he says he wants to kill any tax incentive to buy the business jets that have Alcoa products in them,” Aerospace Industries Association president Marion Blakey complained Thursday. “It’s baffling and disturbing.” She called Air Force One “the biggest corporate jet in America.”

Yeah, but that was yesterday. What can you do for him TODAY. That’s what matters.

The upshot: Obama says that Alcoa must lose business among American customers to repeal a tax break Obama and the Democrats supported because Republicans want to balance the budget.

Damn those evil Republicans! If only we could get rid of them, Utopia would reign on Earth and we could spend as much as we want, when we want, because we want, and where we want and everything would be fine!

But at least  all his hungry little apparatchiks will be fed by the no-calorie class warfare meat.

He has to throw them some meat, or they’ll devour him too!  (Greece anyone?)

Dems are faced with cutting back on the very programs that brought  them into power (gasp).  They have been buying votes with gimmee  programs for years and it’s caused a whole lot of unsustainable  addiction.  Now that the state is broke they have to cut loose the  addicts and those voters will be furious, as you might expect any addict  would be!

So the monster they created to get where they are threatens to eat them too if they don’t supply their addicts. Problem is, the drugs will kill us all eventually.

So, the solution–Raise Taxes!!

The #1 Democrat solution for everything.

The only alternative to responsible cost cutting is, RAISE TAXES, and do it fast…because this is a political emergency!    Careers are at risk – their careers!  Control over State is at risk –  their control!  It doesn’t get any worse.  So they do what dems do best  – they tax!

This time their plan is going severely damage the core working class  by beating up on businesses (employers) just struggling to survive in an  already business-unfriendly climate.  One more burden on them could  prove fatal and that would only add to the political disaster dems were  hoping to avoid.

For starters, Obama’s most recent budget calls for adding $9.5 trillion in new debt over the next decade. If you got rid of the “accelerated depreciation” of corporate jets, Reuters economics columnist James Pethokoukis calculates, it would save a whopping .03 percent of that total.

Sadly, the room was full of journalists who do not consider themselves novices but who nonetheless let Obama get away with this demagogic dishonesty. No one asked the president why he suddenly cares so much about getting rid of a tax break he himself was for before he was against it. Indeed, no one asked why, if it is such an affront to the liberal conscience, it was part of Obama’s stimulus bill, which was passed without any Republican votes in the House and only three in the Senate (which means Nancy Pelosi voted for special tax breaks for corporate jets and the GOP didn’t).

More broadly, no one threw a flag on his claim that “every single observer who’s not an elected official, who’s not a politician,” agrees with him on the burning need to raise taxes as part of any budget deal. This is a good example of Obama’s most grating tic, his need to claim that all reasonable and serious people agree with him and anyone who disagrees must be doing so for base or ideological motives.

But at least you stuck to “rich” people!:)

And your base is happy for another day. Until the monster awakens again and wants to be fed it’s largess drugs.

FEED ME!  FEED ME!  FEED ME!

Insanity awaits!:)

More Lies, Damn Lies…

The Department of Justice distorts figures to hide from Congress pervasive corruption in the nation’s immigration court system, which allows deportable aliens to evade hearings without consequences and more than 1 million removal orders to be ignored.

Adding insult to injury, U.S. taxpayers finance the drove of appeals filed by illegal immigrants deported for criminal convictions and fraudulent marriages. From 2000 to 2007, Americans doled out $30 million for aliens’ court costs, according to a new report <http://cis.org/Immigration-Courts>authored by a former immigration court judge (Mark H. Metcalf) in south Florida, considered a hotbed in the system.

The veteran jurist says the nation’s immigration courts, which are operated by the DOJ, are ruled by deception and disorder <http://cis.org/Immigration-Courts> and are at the heart of a system that nurtures scandal. About 250 overwhelmed judges preside over hundreds of thousands of cases annually and rarely are their deportation orders enforced.

Even after the 2001 terrorist attacks, 50% of all aliens who were free pending trial disappeared, according to figures provided in the judge’s report. Between 2005 and 2006 the number of aliens who failed to appear at their court hearing grew to 59%.

The DOJ deceptively reported the figure as “only” 39% by combining aliens who were free pending trial with those in custody who were forced by authorities to appear in court. That allowed the so-called bail-jumpers to appear as a smaller part of a bigger overall figure.

The agency also told Congress that immigration courts rule in favor of aliens only 20% of the time when in fact its 60% and that aliens appeal deportation orders in only 8% of cases when the figure is actually 98%. Many more examples are included in the judge’s report, which refers to the DOJ’s findings as a sham.

“Accuracy, credibility, relevance, and timeliness elude this agency and the flow of believable statistics to the public,” it says. The judge suggests that Congress order its investigative arm, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct an in-depth probe.

Am I surprised? No.

When the U.S. government reports its debt, it does not include payment that it is required to make to seniors, veterans and retired employee. If those were included, as they should be, the US debt would be an far greater number than the already outrageous number the government does publish. Accountant Sheila Weinberg, founder of the Institute for Truth in Accounting, has done the accounting correctly and has come up with these numbers: Total US debt $61 trillion, which comes out to $534,000 per household. These numbers provide a picture of why the debt is really such a big problem. No way, no how can it be paid off, given the simple fact that most households don’t have $534,000 to turn over to the government. Default is really the only long-term option. It will be done either in straightforward fashion, where the government pays pennies on the dollar for what it owes. Or it will be done in stealth fashion by the Fed printing up dollars to pay for the government obligations, which will create huge price inflation that will screw the average worker and also those on fixed incomes such as retirees.

The Department of Education Has a SWAT TEAM?

Acting on orders from the U.S. Department of Education, a S.W.A.T. team broke into a California home Tuesday at 6 a.m. and roughed up a man — reportedly because of his estranged wife’s defaulted student loans. She wasn’t there. [UPDATE below: Officials confirmed the raid on the house but deny that the search warrant was related to student loans.]

Yet, Kenneth Wright of the city of Stockton was grabbed by the neck by handcuffed before he and his three young children were put in a police car as the officers searched his house, he told ABC News10. He said he was in his underwear the whole time.

“They busted down my door for this. It wasn’t even me,” Wright told the local news station <http://www.news10.net/news/article/141108/2/Questions-surround-feds-raid-of-Stockton-home>. “All I want is an apology for me and my kids and for them to get me a new door.”

Local police were reportedly not involved in the incident.

So can ObamaCare be far behind? They will already have the IRS…
Speaking of The Devil…

ObamaCare Update:

Once provisions of the Affordable Care Act start to kick in during 2014, at least three of every 10 employers will probably stop offering health coverage, a survey released Monday shows.

While only 7% of employees will be forced to switch to subsidized-exchange programs, at least 30% of companies say they will “definitely or probably” stop offering employer-sponsored coverage, according to the study published in McKinsey Quarterly.

The survey of 1,300 employers says those who are keenly aware of the health-reform measure probably are more likely to consider an alternative to employer-sponsored plans, with 50% to 60% in this group expected to make a change. It also found that for some, it makes more sense to switch.

“At least 30% of employers would gain economically from dropping coverage, even if they completely compensated employees for the change through other benefit offerings or higher salaries,” the study says.

But don’t worry, it will bring down costs and be vastly better for everyone!:)

A recent article by Julie Rovner on NPR agrees with what many have been saying for a long time – ER visits will go up due to ObamaCare, not down as proponents of the new law contended (full version here).  From the article:

  • 97% of ER doctors saw Medicaid patients on a daily basis who can’t find doctors who accept their insurance
  • 97% of ER doctors saw private insurance patients on a daily basis, whose doctor referred them to the ER (perhaps because they were closed)
  • 89% of physicians surveyed believe ObamaCare will increase ER visits, a view echoed by a December survey of 600 ER administrators
  • According to a Centers for Disease Control report, less than 8% of ER visits are for non-emergency care
  • CEP President Sandra Schneider warns “the combination of more elderly people plus fewer emergency departments (closing due to financial stresses) is creating “a critical supply-matching-demand issue that will only get worse.”
  • The day ObamaCare was signed into law Medicare acquired 53 Trillion in unfunded liabilities – that’s 3 times the size of the entire US economy
  • In 9 years Medicare will pay less than Medicaid, a system in which children have twice as many problems accessing care than those on private plans
  • For those turning 65, the amount spent on their care will fall $36,000 over their lifetime (at todays prices).  For those now 45 that figure jumps to $105,000.
  • As baby boomers enter the market the number of enrollees expands, while the number of people paying into the system decreases (more out, less in).
  • With decreasing provider payments fewer doctors will accept Medicare or Medicaid, and those who need healthcare most will be the hardest hit – the elderly, disabled, and poor.
  • ObamaCare is expected to add 32 million people to the insurance roles, of which they are expected to double the amount of healthcare they use, and it does not create one more doctor or nurse to meet the increased demand.

But ignore the man behind the curtain. The lies are sweet. And everything is just fine!:)

Promising the American people ‘you can keep your plan if you like it’, while now the chief actuary acknowledges up to 20 million will lose their plans.

Nothing to see here…Except the Lies.

Happy Birthday, ObamaCare

Facinating Site: http://www.thirdway.org/taxreceipt

A year after the passing of health reform, a new industry report revealed that consumers may be paying billions of dollars more in out-of-pocket health care expenses than was previously thought.

These “hidden” costs of health care — like taking time off to care for elderly parents — add up to $363 billion, according to a report from the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions, a research group.

That amounts to $1,355 per consumer, on top of the $8,000 the government says people spend on doctor fees and hospital care.

The out-of-pocket costs that the government tallies usually include only insurance-related costs like premiums, deductibles, and co-payments.

The study is the first to estimate how much consumers dish out on health care related goods and services not covered by private or government insurance.

These include: ambulance services, alternative medicines, nutritional products and vitamins, weight-loss centers and supervisory care of elderly family members.

The average household income fell 1.9% last year while health care costs rose 6%.(KFYI)

I guess findout what was in the bill after passing it was like finding a zonk on “Let’s Make a Deal”.

But don’t tell that to a Liberal, they will just rant on about evil capitalists.

But it’s not a real surprise. Not really. Not if you live in reality. Not Liberal socialist fantasy land.

You have massive number of new regulations.  More Adverse Selection has been forced on the industry.

The term adverse selection was originally used in insurance. It describes a situation where an individual’s demand for insurance (either the propensity to buy insurance, or the quantity purchased, or both) is positively correlated with the individual’s risk of loss (e.g. higher risks buy more insurance), and the insurer is unable to allow for this correlation in the price of insurance. This may be because of private information known only to the individual (information asymmetry), or because of regulations or social norms which prevent the insurer from using certain categories of known information to set prices (e.g. the insurer may be prohibited from using information such as gender or ethnic origin or genetic test results). The latter scenario is sometimes referred to as ‘regulatory adverse selection’.

The potentially ‘adverse’ nature of this phenomenon can be illustrated by the link between smoking status and mortality. Non-smokers, on average, are more likely to live longer, while smokers, on average, are more likely to die younger. If insurers do not vary prices for life insurance according to smoking status, life insurance will be a better buy for smokers than for non-smokers. So smokers may be more likely to buy insurance, or may tend to buy larger amounts, than non-smokers. The average mortality of the combined policyholder group will be higher than the average mortality of the general population. From the insurer’s viewpoint, the higher mortality of the group which ‘selects’ to buy insurance is ‘adverse’. The insurer raises the price of insurance accordingly. As a consequence, non-smokers may be less likely to buy insurance (or may buy smaller amounts) than if they could buy at a lower price to reflect their lower risk. The reduction in insurance purchase by non-smokers is also ‘adverse’ from the insurer’s viewpoint, and perhaps also from a public policy viewpoint.

So all that “can’t refuse people with pre-existing” conditions means your insurance goes UP!

But then again, as I said repeatedly, and I do mean repeatedly, that ObamaCare was about bring down the cost of health care, it was about bringing down the entire private health care industry so that socialist government health care is all that was left and you’d have no choice.

And that still stands.

So Happy Birthday, ObamaCare. the Damien Hell-child of The Left.

Oh, and then there’s this from Rep. Anthony “The Whiner” Weiner, one the most vocal leftists:

Rep. Anthony Weiner said Wednesday he was looking into how a health law waiver might work for New York City.

Weiner, who is likely to run for mayor of New York, said that because of the city’s special health care infrastructure, his office was looking into alternatives that might make more sense. Weiner is one of the health care law’s biggest supporters; during the debate leading up to reform, he was one of the last holdouts in Congress for the public option.

“The president said, ‘If you have better ideas that can accomplish the same thing, go for it,’” said Weiner. “I’m in the process now of trying to see if we can take [President Barack Obama] up on it in the city of New York, … and I’m taking a look at all of the money we spend in Medicaid and Medicare and maybe New York City can come up with a better plan.”

Hey, Mr. Weiner I have a much better plan to never have passed the damn thing in the first place, but since you crammed down our throats and now your political fantasies are gagging on it here’s your better plan — REPEAL THE DAMN THING!!!!!:)

During the debate over his health care law, President Obama repeatedly promised that “if you like your plan, you can keep it,” but for millions of Americans that promise has already been broken.

In a shocking admission, Obama’s administration has granted more than 1,000 waivers to the health law to prevent 2.6 million workers from losing their coverage. Millions more weren’t lucky enough to get a waiver, and have already been forced to switch plans.

Most waivers have been distributed to Fortune 500 corporations like Pepsi and McDonald’s, unions, Las Vegas casinos and in one case an entire state.

If corporations and unions can get a waiver from the health law, every American should get one. That is why I have introduced a bill that would allow anyone – an individual, a family, a small business – to receive a waiver. You should not need to be politically connected to keep your health insurance.

My bill uses the same standard created by the Obama Administration. If the law increases your insurance premiums, you can apply for a waiver. If you’re forced to drop the coverage you like, you can apply for a waiver. The bill also requires the Obama Administration to educate the public about the option and regularly report how many families and employers have received waivers.

The Obama Administration has been pretty clear why these waivers are necessary. In an application posted on the Department of Health and Human Services website, applicants are told they can receive a waiver if the lifetime limit mandate would result in a “significant increase in premiums” or a “significant decrease in access to benefits.”

“We don’t want to take away people’s health insurance before they have some realistic other choices,” Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius told one newspaper.

This confession by the administration is telling. There are countless mandates in the law which would increase premiums and decrease the ability to obtain coverage. For example, by 2014 every American will be required to purchase expensive, government-designed health insurance. Most employers will be forced by Washington to offer comprehensive health benefits or face a fine. The law’s one-size-fits-all benefit mandates will likely eliminate Health Savings Accounts for 11 million families. According to the administration’s own data, the law’s restrictive rules will force 80 percent of small businesses to drop their current plans and purchase more expensive coverage.

The President promised his health law would reduce premiums by $2,500 per family, but insurance has only become more expensive under the law. In New Hampshire, some plans are seeing premiums go up more than 40 percent. In Massachusetts, several plans have announced rate increases of 20 percent or more. In my home state of Michigan, 15 percent rate increases are becoming routine.

Increasing costs are the number one reason Americans cannot access insurance. Yet ObamaCare does nothing to actually reign in health care costs. Instead, it forces Americans to purchase a government-designed insurance product which will be unaffordable for countless employers and workers.

If given the chance, most Americans would prefer to keep the coverage they have. Expanding the administration’s own waiver process will allow families to keep their plans and small businesses to continue offering benefits. (U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI))
