It’s Worse than We Thought

Political Cartoons by Michael Ramirez
It’s reality but not as we know it

John Hawkins: How radical, weird and out of touch have liberals on college campuses gotten since Obama came into office? It’s worse than you ever thought and although there is an almost unlimited number of problematic incidents to choose from, these 15 are particularly effective at getting across how bad things have become.

1) “College Students Say Remembering 9/11 Is Offensive to Muslims…. The everything-is-offensive brand of campus activism has struck a new low: Students at the University of Minnesota killed a proposed moment of silence for 9/11 victims due to concerns—insulting, childish concerns—that Muslim students would be offended.”

2) “Portland State University Offers Course Teaching How to ‘Make Whiteness Strange’…According to Portland State University Professor Rachel Sanders’ ‘White Privilege’ course, ‘whiteness’ must be dismantled if racial justice will ever be achieved. The course description states that ‘whiteness is the lynchpin of structures of racial meaning and racial inequality in the United States” and claims that ‘to preserve whiteness is to preserve racial injustice.’ Students taking the course will ‘endeavor to make whiteness strange.’ In order to make whiteness strange, the description says students must ‘interrogate whiteness as an unstable legal, political, social, and cultural construction.’”

3) “A University in the San Francisco Area Actually Told Students To Call 911 if They Were Offended….Administrators at a Catholic university in the San Francisco Bay Area have rescinded an official school policy instructing students to clog up the regional 9-1-1 emergency reporting system to report ‘bias incidents.’

The school is Santa Clara University, reports Campus Reform…Until this month, however, Santa Clara administrators have been instructing students to report ‘bias incidents’ using the emergency service reserved for dispatching police, firefighters and ambulances.

‘If the bias incident is in progress or just occurred: ALWAYS CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY,’ the Santa Clara website instructed students in fierce, all-capital letters.”

4) “Educators in the Volunteer State are very concerned that students might be offended by the usage of traditional pronouns like she, he, him and hers, according to a document from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

…For all you folks who went to school back when there were only him and her – here’s a primer: some of the new gender neutral pronouns are ze, hir, zir, xe, xem and xyr.”

5) “A Professor at Polk State College has allegedly failed a humanities student after she refused to concede that Jesus is a ‘myth’ or that Christianity oppresses women during a series of mandatory assignments at the Florida college. According to a press release from the Liberty Counsel, a non-profit public interest law firm, Humanities Professor Lance ‘Lj’ Russum gave a student a ‘zero’ on four separate papers because the 16-year-old did not ‘conform to his personal worldviews of Marxism, Atheism, Feminism, and homosexuality.’ The law firm has called for a full, private investigation of the professor and the course curriculum.”

6) “College Codes Make ‘Color Blindness’ a Microaggression…wait, what?…. UCLA says “Color Blindness,” the idea we shouldn’t obsess over people’s race, is a microaggression. If you refuse to treat an individual as a ‘racial/cultural being,’ then you’re being aggressive.”

7) “The phrase ‘politically correct’ is now a microaggression according to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The university’s ‘Just Words’ campaign is the work of UWM’s ‘Inclusive Excellence Center’ and aims to ‘raise awareness of microaggressions and their impact’—microaggressions like ‘politically correct’ or ‘PC.’”

8) ) “‘American,’ ‘illegal alien,’ ‘foreigners,’ ‘mothering,’ and ‘fathering’ are just a handful of words deemed ‘problematic’ by the University of New Hampshire’s Bias-Free Language Guide….Saying ‘American’ to reference Americans is also problematic. The guide encourages the use of the more inclusive substitutes ‘U.S. citizen’ or ‘Resident of the U.S.’ The guide also tries to get students to stop saying ‘Caucasian,’ ‘illegal Immigrant,’ ‘mother,’ ‘father’ and even the word ‘healthy’ is said to shame those who aren’t healthy.”

9) “Late yesterday afternoon, ACLJ filed a lawsuit on behalf of Brandon Jenkins against officials of The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in Maryland for denying Brandon admission to its Radiation Therapy Program in part due to his expression of religious beliefs. As one faculty member explained to Brandon, on behalf of CCBC, the ‘field [of radiation therapy] is not the place for religion.’”

10) “A California school co-founded by a firebrand who once called for an ‘intifada’ in the U.S. has become the nation’s first accredited Muslim college.”

11) “According to Coastal Carolina University, sex is only consensual if both parties are completely sober and if consent is not only present, but also enthusiastic. This is a troubling standard that converts many ordinary, lawful sexual encounters into sexual assault, and it should frighten any student at CCU.”

12) “Clemson University apologizes for serving Mexican food…Students took to Twitter to call the event culturally insensitive and to question the school’s efforts to promote diversity….Clemson Dining issued an apology to ‘offended’ students after hosting a ‘Maximum Mexican’ food day.”

13) “All-Women’s College Cancels ‘Vagina Monologues’ Because it Excludes Women Without Vaginas.”

14) “The ‘Black Lives Matter’ leader who landed a teaching gig at Yale University delivered a lecture this week on the historical merits of looting as a form of protest, backing up his lesson with required reading that puts modern-day marauders on par with the patriots behind the Boston Tea Party.”

15) “Assistant Dean (at Cornell) Tells a Project Veritas Investigative Journalist that the University Would Allow an ISIS Terrorist to Hold a ‘Training Camp’ on Campus, Saying: ‘It Would be Like Bringing in a Coach to do a Training on a Sports Team.'”

BE AFRAID of the Crybaby Generation, Be very Afraid.

Baloney Sandwiches

a new report from the Institute for Supply Management shows that manufacturing dropped by the largest amount in three years during the month of August.  Unfortunately, construction is also down.  It declined by the largest measure in a year – not a positive indication of a healthy economy.  These are leading indicators, and they foretell an increase in unemployment in the months to come.  Reduced manufacturing and construction require reduced labor, and lower labor demand results in higher unemployment. (KFYI)

But since that doesn’t fit the Democrat Talking points it will be ignored. Focus on “we created 4.5 million jobs for 29 consecutive months” which is statistical game of deception and is like saying while standing in the middle of a forest fire- “but that tree is fine”. The rest is Bush’s Fault.
Yeah, that’s the ticket. The Democrat ticket.
Then the Democrats had to contend with the fact that they shoved God out of the platform completely and threw Israel under the bus AGAIN.
Poor babies. Bet the Ministry of Truth covered that one up fast!!
DNC chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) says the omission of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the word God in the party platform was a “technical oversight” because it is “many pages long.”
And ObamaCare at 2700 pages wasn’t? 🙂
I guess they passed it so they could know what was in it! 🙂
It’s not surprising they would deliberately misquote me. What I always say is that unfortunately the Republicans have made Israel a political football, which is dangerous for Israel. (RCP)
No, she clearly did not. But that’s a Liberal for you. I’m going to tell you what I said and you’ve going to believe it. And that’s that. 🙂
Then the Democrats called for a vote on the amendments to cram it back in…
Many in the audience booed after the convention chairman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, ruled that the amendments had been approved despite the fact that a large group of delegates objected. He called for a vote three times before ruling and it was clear by the audio that it wasn’t adopted and after 3 embarrassing attempts they just adopted it because they had to even though they don’t believe it. Because Perception is reality and they didn’t want THAT perception.

Perfectly liberal.
Debbie again, “I can assure that that no one has deliberately taken God out of our platform,” and refused to say anything more.
It was obviously a secret Republican conspiracy to make them look bad. 🙂
When Clinton pronounced in 1996 that “the era of big government is over,” it was taken as a concession to the new conservatism that swept to control of Congress just over a year earlier. But Clinton’s rhetorical move was more tactical than fundamental. He never stopped believing in the power of government. And now that Republicans are putting forward the most emphatically pro-business, anti-government agenda on offer since the Gilded Age, he and his fellow Democrats now feel an urgency to assert the state’s positive role. The economic market, they insist, cannot deliver what the nation needs all by itself. Thus, one of the most applauded lines of the convention’s first night came from Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts. “It’s time for Democrats to grow a backbone,” Patrick proclaimed, “and stand up for what we believe.” Rarely has a party so fully embraced a declaration that implied its own past spinelessness. Speaker after speaker answered Patrick’s call.

While Michelle Obama’s speech, the performance of her life, was apolitical on the surface, it regularly came back to arguing, subtly and implicitly, that hardworking Americans who start out on the social ladder’s lower rungs can be assisted in their struggles by the empowering hand of government.

In his keynote address, Mayor Julian Castro of San Antonio was explicit about this: “We know that you can’t be pro-business unless you’re pro-education,” he said. “We know that pre-K and student loans aren’t charity.” Over and over, government was presented not as an officious intermeddler in people’s lives but as an ally of families determined to help their children to rise.(RCP)

Thomas Purcell: The Democratic National Convention last night was a who’s who from a den of liars, trollops and felons. Central to the theme of the convention was the idea that somehow a group of misogynistic men and women can somehow represent the rights of women’s suffrage and freedom. Starting with an homage to Ted Kennedy, the man who has the first confirmed kill in the war on women on a wooden bridge in Chappaquiddick, this circus event continued on with a repeated lineup of speakers that were arguing that somehow women’s freedom relied upon making women dependent upon government entitlements.

What a lineup! You had people like Sandra Fluke who is a grown woman that is demanding the taxpayers pay for her birth control so that she can act wantonly and without responsibility or thought, and then it was followed up with a President who is known perjurer and adulterer telling us how bad the Republicans are and how great Obama is to a crowd of people that were torn between booing God and the Israeli people who are under threat of extermination on a daily basis.

Yes that’s right, this leftist bunch booed God when the platform vote came around. The worst part is the yahoos who ran the procedure then stuffed the ballot box for God and passed the resolution over the screaming mobs demanding the name of God be stricken from the record.

But the all-time ‘take the cake’ speaker was a known and self professed illegal alien Benita Veliz standing in front of this crowd of miscreants telling America how wrong they are for daring to say ‘these are our borders and we will protect them’.

Ignore the law, screw the people that came here legally, I want my free stuff.

Just in case you missed it, the DREAM executive order that was protecting Ms. Veliz from ICE storming the stage and dragging her off kicking and screaming doesn’t give her amnesty, it merely prevents her from deportation. As an illegal alien she is still breaking the law and committing a felony by being here—she is just immune from prosecution while in school.
What they aren’t telling you is that the DREAM executive order doesn’t protect anyone else in that room. That’s right folks; every person in that convention center is potentially an accomplice to a felony, namely harboring an illegal alien. Last I checked anyway we still had laws about our borders.

We are being looted as a nation and the Democrats are cheering it on like a foaming emperor at a Roman games.

The entire mantra of the left wing this week has been the same- me me me, give me my free stuff on the back of those that produce for society. Take the wealth from the productive, tear down the laws, and use the Constitution to wipe your posterior with.

Change.

Well not me, I still believe that America stands for something, that we obey the law until such time as a representative body like Congress changes it. When Obamacare passed, I don’t remember anyone in the GOP saying it should be ignored or disobeyed, they argued to vote for them to repeal it.

That’s why I’ll be voting Republican in November.

So should you, unless you want lawlessness, chaos and mayhem, with government at your throats telling you that you have too much stuff and are taking it away. (RCP)

The easiest way to trip up a Democrat in Charlotte for the national convention is to ask him to answer this question: What is Obama’s vision for a second term? The placeholder answer, of course, is “creating an economy built to last.” But this talking point has, even to Democrats, begun to wear thin. It’s often repeated, but lacks definition. “Nobody really knows what that means,” said Joe Trippi, a Democratic strategist who handled Jerry Brown’s gubernatorial campaign in 2010. So even though Obama’s reelection slogan is “Forward,” there’s not much talk—at least not yet—of what the country would move forward toward, or of the specific policies that Obama would enact to propel the nation up and out of the current low-wattage economic recovery. Would it include comprehensive immigration reform? Would it include tax reform? Would it include changes to Medicare and Medicaid beyond those in the 2010 health care law? Would it include any effort to limit greenhouse-gas emissions? Would it include any sustained effort to reduce poverty among African-Americans?

Reelection campaigns are typically defined by the incumbent’s policy achievements and what they tell voters about what is to come. Obama has spent precious little time extolling his accomplishments in that area, with the exception of laws requiring new and widespread financial regulations and ensuring pay equity for women. His signature overhaul of health care remains largely unmentioned. For a full day on national television, Obama advisers were bedeviled by the question, “Are people better off than they were four years ago?” On Monday, the campaign declared “yes,” people were better off, but knew it still had some explaining to do.  With such difficulty dealing with reelection basics—what you have done and are people better off—it might be assumed that Obama’s team would by now have fortified the “forward” part of its message. Forward in pursuit of what?
Forward!  To something!  (With a heavy dose of “flexibility”).  Super. (Townhall)

Just say the Secret Word

After I did my blog yesterday I found this little nugget of gold:

NBC analyst suggests CO theater shooter was “Dark Trekkie”

On this mornings “Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd” on MSNBC the host brought in NBC News analyst (and former FBI profiler) Clint Van Zandt to talk about the the shooting at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises. During the segment Van Zandt offered the the following analysis on the alleged shooter in the case James Eagan Holmes:

We know this was a preplanned event. This guy had to buy a ticket – one would assume in advance. He had to assemble clothing, uniform, helmet, gas mask, gas grenade, the weapons. He has to put all of this together. He didn’t just fall off a turnip truck to do this. Is this just the terrible collision between some dark Trekkie-like person’s fantasy world and reality or is it more sinister? Is there a political, religious or other type of motivation other than just someone with emotional challenges.

It spread to many other sources but for their credit many of them pissed on Mr. Van Zandt’s characterization. He apologized afterwards as they all do, but maybe, just maybe they should think before their impulses speak. But this is MSNBC we are talking about! That would never happen.

Politicizing tragedy with thinly sourced and even baseless speculation appears to be a permanent feature of our 24/7/365 instant-it-happens media age.

I’m sad to report today a death of a good friend to all of us…..Journalism, the once esteemed 4th estate of our nation and the protector of our freedoms and a watchdog of our rights has passed away after a long struggle with a crippling and debilitating disease of acute dishonesty aggravated by advanced laziness and the loss of brain function.– Gov. Mike Huckabee 2009.

A top union official for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers said Thursday that President Barack Obama’s administration has ordered ICE agents to blindly — and without any evidence — believe illegal immigrants if they claim they qualify for Obama’s administrative DREAM Act.

Chris Crane, president of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, explained at a press conference on Capitol Hill Thursday afternoon how the new selective immigration law enforcement policy Obama announced during a White House Rose Garden speech in June is affecting the officers he represents.

“As we still wait on detailed guidance from the administration, it’s impossible to understand the full scope of the administration’s changes, but what we’ve seen so far concerns us greatly,” Crane, said. “As one example, prosecutorial discretion for DREAMers is solely based on the individual’s claims. Our orders are: If an alien says they went to high school, then let them go. If they say they have a GED, then let them go.”

“Officers have been told that there is no burden for the alien to prove anything,” he continued. “Even with the greatly relaxed policies, the alien is not required to prove that they meet any of the new criteria.”

ICE officers are often called in after local and state law enforcement officials arrest a person and find that he or she is an illegal immigrant. ICE officers also conduct their own investigations and detain suspected illegal immigrants independent of other law enforcement. Normally, if the immigrant is found to be in the country illegally, ICE would bring federal charges against him, possibly leading to deportation.

Under the new orders, however, illegals can escape federal charges simply by claiming — whether it’s the truth or not — that they meet the DREAM Act rule’s requirements issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Crane did not specify who has given his officers these new orders.

The new directive would contradict Homeland Security’s own words in announcing the policy, which said that “only those individuals who can prove through verifiable documentation that they meet these criteria will be eligible for deferred action.

Homeland Security announced in June that it will not go after illegals who came to the U.S. under the age of 16 and are not more than 30 years old; have lived in the U.S. for five straight years; are currently in school or have graduated high school, obtained a GED or been honorably discharged from the military; have not been convicted of a felony or significant misdemeanor and are not a threat to public safety.

“At this point, we don’t understand why DHS even has criteria at all as there is no requirement or burden to prove anything on the part of the alien,” Crane added. “We believe significant numbers of aliens who are not DREAMers are taking advantage of this practice to avoid arrest.”

“The lawlessness must end,” Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions, whose office organized the presser, said.

“They’ve handcuffed and muffled those charged with protecting the public safety and the integrity of our borders,” Sessions said. “Such action has not only weakened our security but our democracy. All Americans, immigrant and native born, will have a better future if our nation remains unique in the world for its special reverence for the rule of law and fairness in our immigration system.”

George McCubbin, the president of the AFL-CIO-backed National Border Patrol Council, said Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s claim that the border is more secure than ever are downright untrue.

“She conveniently forgot to ask the men and women on the front line if indeed that were true, but rather she relied on the information and statistic provided to her by those in positions of interest of having her reflect whatever position the administration wants her to reflect — in this case, that’s a safe and secure border,” McCubbin said. “When you surround yourself with people who always say ‘yes,’ you will get the answer you are seeking.”

McCubben hasn’t yet gone to Department of Homeland Security leadership with his concerns about Obama’s new administrative DREAM Act program yet because he and the 17,000 agents he represents still have no clue what they’re supposed to do and what they’re not supposed to do. “I’m still waiting to get instructions from our own agency,” he said in response to a question from The Daily Caller. “Actually, our own agency was caught off guard when this came out.”

Crane said efforts to get a fair hearing with Napolitano, ICE Director John Morton or other administration officials have been futile.

“We’ve spent the last three-and-a-half years trying to work with this administration from Director Morton to Secretary Napolitano, who won’t meet with us,” Crane said. “We’ve actually been to the White House and tried to talk to those folks — and, basically, they don’t want to hear our concerns. They don’t want to work with us at all.”

“The only groups that they will work with are the NGOs, the immigrant advocacy groups,” Crane said. “Whether it’s the security protocols for our detention centers or our law enforcement practices out in the field, those are being driven by wish lists from immigrant advocacy groups with no input from law enforcement officers in the field.”

Grassley, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said the policy is nothing more than a political stunt by Obama to deliver on a campaign promise he has thus far failed to fulfill.

“The president campaigns in 2008 that, in the first year, he’s going to have immigration issues solved,” Grassley said. “At this point, after three-and-a-half years, we have not seen any bill whatsoever. So, then as is a core pattern in this administration, you got to blame somebody else, so it [the administration] comes up with this statement: ‘if Congress won’t, I will.’”

Bad Advice

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

White House senior adviser David Plouffe said on Sunday Republicans want “huge tax cuts for the wealthy, more war, more debt.”

“They want to return us back to the same policies that caused the recession — huge tax cuts for the wealthy, more war, more debt. And independent economists last week just said the Romney congressional agenda would cause us harm in the short term economically and slow down the recovery. So that’s the wrong direction,” he said on ABC’s “This Week.”

And it’s own mid-june. Imagine what the hype ,the lies, distortions, and rhetoric is going to be in 4 months! 🙂

Video from 1994 has surfaced of David Axelrod, President Obama’s chief campaign strategist, calling former President George H.W. Bush “out of touch” for “tastelessly” playing golf while trying to convince voters that the economy is improving.

“Bush tastelessly did it, often from the ninth hole, and from the cigar boat and other places,” Axelrod said.

Added the adviser: “The impression you got was that he was out of touch.”

President Obama rolled out of his Kenwood, Chicago home Sunday morning and headed to out to play his 100th round of golf since becoming president.
Obama has already played golf eight times this year. He actually is a little off his normal pace – perhaps campaigning is intruding on golf. The president golfed 28 times in 2009, 30 times in 2010, and an incredible 34 times in 2011.
But he’s the “First Black President” so I must be a racist for pointing out that Bush never played this many rounds and actually quit playing because of the criticism. 🙂
After all, he wants what he wants when he wants it.

This was 1987 folks. Gee, I guess only Liberals want to yell at Presidents  but you’re never supposed to do it to them.

Gee, that trend of Don’t Do as I do, Do as I say and I can do it but you can’t isn’t the accepted norm with Liberals.

Well, time to stop drinking that Big Gulp  and “Let’s Move” and do a “little weed” just like the President did when he was younger and now all the 60’s hippies want to you to do it now too.

Cigarettes Vs. Marijuana

The Partnership Attitude Tracking Study, sponsored by MetLife Foundation, found that 9 percent of teens (nearly 1.5 million) smoked marijuana heavily (at least 20 times) in the past month. Overall, past-month heavy marijuana use is up 80 percent among U.S. teens since 2008.

Past-month use is up 42 percent (up from 19 percent in 2008 to 27 percent in 2011, which translates to about 4 million teens).

Past-year use is up 26 percent (up from 31 percent in 2008 to 39 percent in 2011, which translates to about 6 million teens).

Lifetime use is up 21 percent (up from 39 percent in 2008 to 47 percent in 2011, which translates to nearly 8 million teens). (MarketWatch)

And many can drive! Doesn’t that just make you feel better about Big Gulps! 🙂

Smoking rates have declined with 22 percent of teens reporting smoking cigarettes in the past month — down 19 percent from 27 percent last year.

Could that be because the dangers of smoking have been hammered for 2 decades?

So education on the dangers of smoking have worked. And so has the education on the harmlessness of pot has too. And that’s the fault of the War on Drugs.

Ah, doublethink…

Although the U.S. arrests 750,000 people every year for nothing more than possessing a small amount of marijuana, teens consistently report that marijuana is easier to obtain than alcohol. (Huffington Post)

So stop smoking cigarettes because they are bad for you, toke some weed instead! 🙂

Like for for sure, dude!

Stoners Rights!

And gee, what is one of the major things smuggled by the drug runner across the US’s “more secure than ever” Southern Border…marijuana. 🙂

So in order to solve the problem we don’t less people using it, we just need more government control of it! Sigh…

UNION GRAFT

In speech after speech, President Obama credits himself for saving the Detroit auto industry. Turns out that what Obama really did was spend $23 billion in taxpayer money to pay off his union friends.

Even if you think the bailout was needed, the ultimate taxpayer cost was far higher than it should have been, according to a new report by Zywicki and James Sherk, published by the Heritage Foundation.

Worse, the entire $23 billion price tag — an estimate from Obama’s own Treasury Dept. — went to subsidize the Democrat-friendly UAW, the authors found.

Among the union giveaways:

• $21 billion more for the UAW retiree benefit trust fund than it would have received had it been treated like other unsecured creditors.

• Another $1 billion to restore pensions for UAW retirees at GM’s defunct Delphi subsidiary.

• And the UAW didn’t have to make wage concessions that a normal bankruptcy proceeding would have required. Cost to taxpayers: $4 billion.

“Had the administration required the UAW to accept standard bankruptcy concessions,” they concluded, “the government could have executed the bailout at no net cost to taxpayers.”

Obama’s former car czar, Ron Bloom, wasn’t kidding when he said of the bailout: “I did this all for the unions.” (IBD)

ILLEGALS

In his most brazen act of pandering to date, President Obama has dangled de facto amnesty to 800,000 illegal immigrants in a shameless bid to win Latino votes. This is pure banana-republic electoral politics.

After all, with no Voter ID required (because Holder and Company will shut you done if you do) but you have amnesty and a “work permit” why not vote for Obama and the Democrats. 🙂

There’s zero doubt Obama’s Friday order to hand work permits to hundreds of thousands of illegals who claim they were brought here as children is merely an embattled and unpopular president’s bid to gain an electoral edge.

Politics trump all other factors that a responsible president would consider, such as the wisdom of dumping nearly a million new job seekers onto the market to compete for jobs with America’s 26 million unemployed at a time of sky-high unemployment.

First, Democratic strategists have stated repeatedly that Obama, whose popularity is below 50% in polls, must win the Latino vote at all costs, particularly in swing states. Obama’s move panders to them.

Second, it closely follows the Dream Act prescription, favored by the open-borders lobby, the one group he must please to secure the votes. The Act stalled in Congress for lack of votes amid high public opposition.

It also comes as a flip-flop. Obama has told his supporters in the past that he couldn’t take such a brazen step, knowing that its legality and clear usurpation of congressional authority would be questioned.

And it was — by GOP Senators Charles Grassley of Iowa and Marco Rubio of Florida. Apparently, now that Obama’s re-election is on the line, anything goes.

But it’s the time frame that really gives the game away: The relief from deportation orders will be meted out in two-year increments, timed precisely with each election cycle. That way, Democrats can tell the Latino lobby to either mobilize the vote for them — or the amnesty goodies end.

This is no different from banana-republic politicos buying votes for bags of beans. Obama’s gambit is in fact straight from Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, who, facing a tight recall referendum in 2004, handed citizenship to 2 million illegal immigrants in Venezuela to secure votes, and with Jimmy Carter’s help, won.

It’s also been done in that other banana-republic, California, where in 2003, Democratic Gov. Gray Davis offered drivers licenses to millions of illegals to secure Latino votes for his own recall referendum. It maddened California’s voters and Davis was booted.

Obama is betting that America’s voters will behave more like Venezuelans than Californians, but the tragic thing is that he’s harming the interests of the country.

Illegals with criminal pasts that can be punished with less than a year in the slammer will be fully eligible.

What’s more, our system of law will be corrupted, as officials assure the work permits are handed out on a “case-by-case basis,” an ideal setup for bribes and kickbacks. Rubio warns the move will encourage more illegal immigration — and discourage legal migrants.

The losers here are the American people, who have a leader who seems more interested in short-term political gain than actual governance — and who seems oblivious to the disruption this new amnesty policy will cause as the rule of law is undermined.

November can’t come soon enough. (IBD)

Especially, with advice like this.

There is Only Me! There is no U.S.

Political Cartoons by Michael Ramirez

“Beyond the pandering, beyond the politics, beyond the process is simple constitutional decency. This is out-and-out lawlessness. You had a clip of the president himself say months ago ‘I cannot do this on my own because there are laws on the books.’ Well, I have news for the president: The laws remain on the books, they haven’t changed,” syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said on “FOX News” tonight.

“He proposed the DREAM Act of which the executive order is a variation. He proposed a DREAM Act. The Congress said no. The Congress is the one who makes the laws. What the administration does is it administers law. And in fact, what it’s pretending to do is to use discretion, that’s what the Homeland Security Secretary said,” Dr. Krauthammer said.

“This is not discretion,” he said. “Discretion is when you treat it on a one-by-one basis on the grounds of extenuating circumstances. This is the declaration of a whole new set of criteria, which is essentially resurrecting the legislation that the Congress has said no to.”

“And I think this is not how you run a constitutional Republic. This ought to be in the hands of Congress, and it is an end-run. What’s ironic of course is for eight years, the Democrats have been screaming about the imperial presidency with the Bush administration, the nonsense about the unitary executive. This is out-and-out lawlessness. This is not how you govern. And I think that’s the first issue that should be on the table,” Krauthammer concluded.

MSDNC:“This is just so unprecedented and outrageous, that you have to ask the question, would the right-wing be doing this if we had a white president there?” MSNBC guest and Democratic strategist Julian Epstein said on the channel this afternoon.

So you’re a racist if you oppose Executive Fiats by a black president.

America, What A Country. 🙂

“They play in our neighborhoods, they’re friends with our kids, they pledge allegiance to our flag. They are Americans in their heart, in their minds, in every single way but one — on paper,” President Obama said in the Rose Garden about his policy change in deporting young illegal immigrants.

Ah, look ma, it’s the old Liberal guilt hoary of “it’s for the Children”…ah isn’t that special… <<Barf>>

Gee, I guess “I will selectively enforce laws, make new laws up on my own, and disregard laws anytime I want if it is to MY OWN Personal political advantage” is now the new standard.

Krauthammer is correct, it’s lawlessness because now the law serve the politics not the people.

And that Illegal alien/Hispanic Racist Activist/Squishy Liberal/For the Children Vote is far more important than any legal American white racists after all.

And the Border patrol has a new mission. If you see an Illegal who’s under 16, (or a pregnant woman) you don’t arrest them, you give them a work permit, say “Welcome to America” to take the job (cheaper) than the American who was here legally.

Now that’s fair! isn’t it?

Mr. Obama angrily shot down a reporter for the conservative Daily Caller who interrupted his remarks with the question, “Why do you favor foreigners over American workers?”

After all, that’s a racist question. The President is Black, so he cannot be questioned. He must simply be obeyed without fail.

RUSH: I have a name for this new Obama immigration policy. In case you haven’t heard, folks, very quickly. The regime today told the border agents: “If you catch young illegals, let ’em go and grant ’em work permits.” No more deportation of illegal immigrants. They are to be given work permits and they can stay in the country. So what this is is “Catch, Release, Vote.

I mean, he’s being literally reamed over the speech. And I’ll tell you what’s coming next. Here we go. We just went through the brief overview. First, War on Churches. Second, create (as part of it) a phony Republican War on Women. And then go after Mitt Romney and Bain Capital. Then come out for gay marriage.

And now: Don’t deport the young illegals; give ’em work permits.

What’s that gonna do to the unemployment number? Are we gonna count ’em looking for work or not? If we don’t, the number won’t drop. If we do, the number will go up. What’s it gonna do for those of you trying to get work to learn that 800,000 new illegals are in the job market who will work cheaper than you do? And what’s next is home mortgages and student loans. Those are the next two things that are gonna fall. They’ll throw it all up against the wall. You watch.

And we’ll completely ignore the Drug Runners, gun runners, human smugglers and violent felons and murders. They don’t exist. It’s “for The Children” only. They are the only ones that exist.

La Raza and MeCHA and groups like that now run the Democrats.

After all, you don’t want to be a racist now do you? 🙂

For years the administration had said it didn’t have the authority to make such a move, saying it couldn’t decide to stop deporting wide categories of people on its own without approval from Congress.

But on Friday President Obama says administration now interprets the law to give it the discretion.

Because his own Political needs supersede everything else in life.

“Effective immediately, the Department of Homeland Security is taking steps to lift the shadow of deportation from these young people,” Mr. Obama said in an appearance in the White House Rose Garden. “Over the next few months, eligible individuals who do not present a risk to national security or public safety will be able to request temporary relief from deportation proceedings and apply for work authorization.”

“This is not amnesty,” Mr. Obama said.

OH YES IT IS!

“This is not immunity.

OH YES IT IS.

This is not a path to citizenship. It’s not a permanent fix. This is a temporary stopgap measure that lets us focus our resources wisely, while giving a degree of relief and hope to talented, driven, patriotic young people. It is the right thing to do.”

<<Barf Overload!>>

But at least he’s sowed up the Illegal Alien/Radical Aztlan Hispanic Vote! 🙂

“I never made a commitment that somehow we were going to give carte blanche to large-scale producers and operators of marijuana—and the reason is, because it’s against federal law. I can’t nullify congressional law.”

But I can go around it and that’s all I ever do anymore because I want what I want when I want it. So there! :)-

“I can’t ask the Justice Department to say, ‘Ignore completely a federal law that’s on the books,’” the president continued,

BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

“What I can say is, ‘Use your prosecutorial discretion and properly prioritize your resources to go after things that are really doing folks damage.’”

But only if it serves my own personal political needs. Everyone else can just get screwed!

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, Texas Republican, said the new amnesty will become “a magnet for fraud,” and will end up letting jobs go to current illegal immigrants.

“How can the Administration justify allowing illegal immigrants to work in the U.S. when millions of Americans are unemployed?” Mr. Smith said. “President Obama and his administration once again have put partisan politics and illegal immigrants ahead of the rule of law and the American people.”

Because it’s all about HIM, that’s how.

Reason.com writer, Mike Riggs, also questioned the difference between the two positions. In a blog post“Why Can Obama Bend the Law for Young Immigrants but nor for Drug Users?,” he wrote, “Today’s immigration announcement makes a compelling case that Obama is capable of using his executive powers to *not* enforce the law, and will do so when it’s politically advantageous.”

As I have said many, many times before, Liberals have no morals or ethics and their Ends justifies the means, no holds barred hubris is just how they are.

Like a 3 year old, they want what they want when they want it and no one is going to stop them from getting it. Morals, Ethics, Laws, who give a rip about those when I want what i want when I want it and because I want it and I want it NOW!

If it “feels good” do it. If it’s good for ME, do it.

F*ck you and your objections. I am vastly superior to you and I have sanctimonious Self-righteousness on my side.

And if that doesn’t work, well, you’re just a racist anyhow so you’re not important.

Access to the Good Life

Today is the deadline to tithe your loyalty and devotion to the Great Entitlers in Washington.

All hail the Great Entitlers! 🙂

Last year, almost 1,800 people renounced their U.S. citizenship or handing in their Green Cards. That’s a record number since the Internal Revenue Service began publishing a list of those who renounced in 1998. It’s also almost eight times more than the number of citizens who renounced in 2008, and more than the total for 2007, 2008 and 2009 combined.

Many say they parted ways with America for tax reasons.

The United States is one of the only countries to tax its citizens on income earned while they’re living abroad. (KFYI)

And the Highest Corporate Taxes in the World also helps greatly.

“I don’t want to pit Red America against Blue America. I want to be President of the United States of America.”-BARACK OBAMA, speech, Nov. 10, 2007

And the latest from the great “uniter”:

“We now have a Republican nominee who said that the Arizona laws are a model for the country, that — and these are laws that potentially would allow someone to be stopped and picked up and asked where their citizenship papers are based on an assumption,” President Obama said in an interview with Univision that aired over the weekend.

The Liberal Meme that is STILL inaccurate on purpose. Gee what a shocker…

“Racial profiling?” Univision reporter Enrique Acevedo asked.

“Very troublesome. And this is something that the Republican nominee has said should be a model for the country,” Obama said.

“So what we need is a change, either of Congress or we need Republicans to change their mind. And I think that this has to be an important debate throughout the country,” he said.

“What I have said to Latinos across the United States is that my compassion for this issue is undiminished. That, for example, when it comes for the DREAM kids, who have been raised as Americans and see themselves as Americans and want to serve their country or are willing to work hard in school, start businesses or working hard in laboratories or businesses, it is shameful that we cannot get that done. And so I am going to keep on pushing as hard as I can. And what I am going to do is encourage the Latino community to continue to ask every member of Congress where they stand on these issues,” Obama said.

“I will do everything that I can to try to get it done, but ultimately I’m going to need Congress to help me” Obama said of the DREAM Act.

Did he say the same thing was a ‘priority’ in 2007-8?? 🙂

After all, anyone who is not Pro-Illegal, Pro-Pandering, must therefore be a racist!

But if you pony up the cash, you can spend time personally with the Man himself though.

Barack Obama, November 3, 2007:

“One year from now, we have the chance to tell all those corporate lobbyists that the days of them setting the agenda in Washington are over. I have done more to take on lobbyists than any other candidate in this race – and I’ve won. I don’t take a dime of their money, and when I am President, they won’t find a job in my White House.”

But plenty of access. As a matter of fact it seems to be a requirement.

But we also know from experience that Liberals are famously “Don’t Do as I do, Do as I say” hypocrites from the word go. Every second of every day.

An analysis of White House access by the New York Times suggests that hope and change has changed nothing except maybe you don’t get to sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom. But in exchange for enriching the president’s campaign coffers, you do get to bend the president’s ear with a frequency greater than heads of state and Cabinet members.

“Among donors who gave $30,000 or less, about 20% visited the White House,” according to the Times analysis written by Mike McIntire and Michael Luo in the paper’s April 15 edition. The analysis matched names in the visitor logs with donor records. “But among those who donated $100,000 or more, the figure rises to 75%,” write McIntire and Luo.

Clearly, President Obama’s much ballyhooed ban on lobbyist contributions has not prevented lobbyists and other representatives of special interests from visiting the White House frequently. Some of those who sought access, and quid for their quo, were quite open about it.

Patrick J. Kennedy, the former representative from Rhode Island, who donated $35,800 to an Obama re-election fund last fall while seeking administration support for a nonprofit venture, said contributions were simply a part of “how this business works.”

“If you want to call it ‘quid pro quo,’ fine,” Kennedy told the Times. “At the end of the day, I want to make sure I do my part.”

One of the more famous White House visitors we already know about is billionaire investor George Kaiser of Solyndra fame. Kaiser himself donated $53,000 to Obama’s 2008 election campaign, divided between Obama for America and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. A world-class bundler, Kaiser also raised between $50,000 and $100,000 from others for the president’s campaign.

According to White House visitor logs, between March 12, 2009, and April 14, 2011, Solyndra officials and visitors made no fewer than 20 trips to the White House.

In the week before the administration awarded Solyndra the first-ever green stimulus loan on March 20, 2009, in spite of numerous warnings of the company’s instability, Kaiser made three visits to the White House on March 12, 2009, and one on March 13.

We have documented how many of the administration’s economy-damaging policies can be traced to a system of crony capitalism. The administration has adopted an industrial policy of picking winners and losers, but too often the only winners are also campaign donors.

In announcing his candidacy in Springfield, Ill., on Feb. 10, 2007, Obama railed against the “cynics, the lobbyists, the special interests who’ve turned our government into a game only they can afford to play.”

“They write the checks and you get stuck with the bills, they get the access while you get to write a letter, they think they own this government, but we’re here today to take it back. The time for that kind of politics is over.”

Apparently not. Hypocrite, heal thyself.(IBD)

Naw, he needs the money to try and buy this election too.

Politico 2009: “It would be more honest if they admitted they made a mistake and came up with a narrower rule,” said Melanie Sloan, executive director of the government watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. “Obviously, they can’t live with the rule, which is why they keep waving the magic wand and making exceptions. They’re saying one thing and doing another. It’s why the public is skeptical about politicians.”

Our predecessors understood that government could not, and should not, solve every problem. They understood that there are instances when the gains in security from government action are not worth the added constraints on our freedom. But they also understood that the danger of too much government is matched by the perils of too little; that without the leavening hand of wise policy, markets can crash, monopolies can stifle competition, the vulnerable can be exploited. And they knew that when any government measure, no matter how carefully crafted or beneficial, is subject to scorn; when any efforts to help people in need are attacked as un-American; when facts and reason are thrown overboard and only timidity passes for wisdom, and we can no longer even engage in a civil conversation with each other over the things that truly matter — that at that point we don’t merely lose our capacity to solve big challenges. We lose something essential about ourselves.
BARACK OBAMA, speech to joint session of Congress, sep. 9, 2009

“I have studied the Constitution as a student; I have taught it as a teacher; I have been bound by it as a lawyer and legislator. I took an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution as Commander-in-Chief, and as a citizen, I know that we must never – ever – turn our back on its enduring principles for expedience sake.“-BARACK OBAMA, speech, May 21, 2009

I added that one for comic irony. 🙂

The Race

The White House announced Tuesday that Cecilia Muñoz, a former senior vice president of the National Council of La Raza, would replace Melody Barnes at the top of the council.

La Raza means “The Race”.

Munoz, a strong supporter of the failed DREAM Act, is the former senior vice president for the radical open-border National Council of La Raza.

Katie Pavlich: How radical is La Raza? Being from Arizona, I can tell you La Raza doesn’t fly the American flag at pro-amnesty rallies, they fly the Mexican flag.

They also get uppity every Cinco De Mayo about American Flags of any kind on display.

See https://indyfromaz.wordpress.com/2010/05/12/teaching-division/

Behind the respectable front of the National Council of La Raza lies the real agenda of the La Raza movement, the agenda that led to those thousands of illegal immigrants in the streets of American cities, waving Mexican flags, brazenly defying our laws, and demanding concessions.

Key among the secondary organizations is the radical racist group Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA), one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West.

For law-abiding Americans without knowledge of the dark side of our current illegal immigration crisis, all this is unfathomable. For those who know the truth about the “La Raza” movement, these demonstrations were a prophecy fulfilled.

It is past time for all Americans to know what is at the root of this outrageous behavior, and the extent to which the nation is at risk because of “La Raza” — The Race.

There are many immigrant groups joined in the overall “La Raza” movement. The most prominent and mainstream organization is the National Council de La Raza — the Council of “The Race”.

The Council of La Raza succeeded in having itself added to congressional hearings by Republican House and Senate leaders. And an anonymous senator even gave the Council of La Raza an extra $4 million in earmarked taxpayer money, supposedly for “housing reform,” while La Raza continues to lobby the Senate for virtual open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens.

Around here La Raza is also infamous for the Latino Studies at Tucson Schools.

They are the ‘hate whitey’ classes.

An Arizona state official has declared that an ethnic studies program on Latino culture is illegal under a new law that went effect on Jan. 1.

The official is Tom Horne, the newly elected state attorney general who wrote the law last year when he was Arizona’s education superintendent.

District officials say they aren’t breaking the law, and a group of teachers has filed suit challenging the law, which prohibits any classes that:

* Promote the overthrow of the United States government, including any suggestion that any U.S. lands once part of Mexico be returned.
* Promote resentment toward a race or class of people.
* Are designed primarily for pupils of a particular ethnic group.
* Advocate ethnic solidarity instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals.

Horne insists that the program violates all four tenets of the law; the district says that’s nonsense.

Horne started blasting the program several years ago after learning that Hispanic civil right activist Dolores Herta told Tucson high school students that “Republicans hate Latinos.”

“It becomes the duty of the people of Arizona, through their elected leaders . . . to put a stop to this, and to be sure that taxpayer-funded public schools teach students to treat each other as individuals, and not on the basis of the race they happen to have been born into,” Horne said in a 10-page document to be released today.

The Liberal response…”Civility” (meaning shut up and go away): “TUSD holds fast to the belief that Arizona K-12 students, particularly in times of budget crises, are better served when educational entities seek to minimize the strain on human and financial resources by working together, rather than to expend said resources in conflict,” board president Judy Burns wrote.

<<Barf bag on standby>>

The the little cherubs storm a board meeting and chain themselves to the desk yelling, “Education Under Attack, What do we do? FIGHT BACK!”

Nothing to see here… 🙂

One teacher said she believes the program led to resentfulness and disobedience from students, according to Horne’s report.

Another said he was called a racist by students and faculty after questioning the curriculum. (azcentral and others)

It seems as though illegal immigration advocates will never be satisfied. After Judge Susan Bolton blocked the most controversial parts of SB 1070, essentially taking out all real power from the bill, a group known as “Freedom for Arizona,” committed an act of domestic terrorism by spreading out over 15 tires connected by rope and covered in tar, a banner, brown paint and shards of broken glass across I-19 in Arizona, a busy interstate with a 65 mph speed limit covering approximatly 70 miles between Tucson and Nogales. This action not only stopped all traffic flow, but could have killed innocent people in the process.

The goal of the tires, glass and paint was to stop all deportations back to Mexico as well as stopping all capital flow to damage the economy. The banner placed across the interstate read, “Stop All Militarization! The Border is Illegal!” (Katie Pavlich)

The Obama administration has extended temporary protected status to El Salvadoran nationals through late 2013, shielding them from deportation and forcible return to their home country.

The Department of Homeland Security cites ongoing disruptions from a series of earthquakes in 2001, concluding that “El Salvador remains unable, temporarily, to handle adequately the return of its nationals.”

Really? Is that the lamest excuse you’ve ever heard?

Obama’s appointment of Munoz isn’t surprising for a few reasons. 1) It’s an election year. This gives Obama yet another way to try and cater to Hispanic voters 2) Munoz is the perfect government bureaucrat for Obama to channel his open-border, pro-amnesty agenda through under the guise of La Raza being a “civil rights” organization.

And if you object, you’re a racist! 🙂

The Lawyer in Chief

The New Stealth DREAM ACT by the Lawyer-in-Chief:

President Obama has implemented a new system to spare a myriad of illegal immigrants from removal by authorizing—and encouraging—low-level field officers to block deportations by using an outrageously broad list of exemptions.

The unprecedented program will allow droves of undocumented immigrants to remain in the U.S. by drastically expanding factors that can be considered to exercise “prosecutorial discretion.” That’s when agencies get to decide to what degree they enforce certain laws against particular individuals.

Beginning this week, federal immigration officers, attorneys and other officials can cancel the removal of an illegal immigrant that is breast feeding or pregnant, has pursued an education in the U.S., has a relative in the military, has ties and contributions to the community or a U.S.-born child (anchor baby), to name a few. A “person’s length of presence in the U.S.” will also strengthen their case to stay.

The new prosecutorial discretion guidelines  are outlined in a memo issued a few days ago by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director John Morton. For the first time ever, employees from field agents to senior officials are empowered to apply the ridiculously broad criteria to help illegal immigrants avoid deportation.

Morton encourages ICE officers, agents and attorneys to quickly consider prosecutorial discretion for illegal immigrants who meet the new benchmarks instead of waiting for their advocate or counsel to “request a favorable exercise of discretion.” He claims in the memo that this will “preserve government resources.”

Memo: http://www.ice.gov/doclib/secure-communities/pdf/prosecutorial-discretion-memo.pdf

(excerpt)  When weighing whether an exercise ofprosecutorial discretion may be warranted for a given . alien, ICE officers, agents, and attorneys should consider all relevant factors, including, but not limited to:

• the person’s length of presence in the United States, with particular consideration given to presence while in lawful status;

They are Illegal!! What “lawful” status???
• the circumstances ofthe person’s arrival in the United States and the manner ofhis or her entry,particularly ifthe alien came to the United States as a young child;
• the person’s pursuit ofeducation in the United States, with particular consideration given to those who have graduated from a U.S. high school or have successfully pursued or are pursuing a college or advanced degrees at a legitimate institution ofhigher education in the United States;
• whether the person, or the person’s immediate relative,has served in the U.S. military, reserves, or national guard, with particular consideration given to those who served in combat;
• the person’s ties and contributions to the community, including family relationships;
• the person’s ties to the home country and condition~ in the country;
• the person’s age, with particular consideration given to minors and the elderly;
• whether the person has a U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse, child, or parent;
• whether the person is the primary caretaker ofa person with a mental or physical disability, minor, or seriously ill relative; ;
whether the person or the person’s spouse is pregnant or nursing;
• whether the person or the person’s spouse suffers from severe mental or physical illness;
whether the person’s nationality renders removal unlikely;
• Whether the person is likely to be granted temporary or permanent status or other relief from removal, including as a relative ofa U.S. citizen or permanent resident;
• whether the person is likely to be granted temporary or permanent status or other relief from removal, including as an asylum seeker, or a victim of domestic violence, human trafficking, or other crime; . and .

This list is not exhaustive and no one factor is determinative. ICE officers, agents, and attorneys should always consider prosecutorial discretion on a case-by-case basis. The decisions should be based on the totality of the circumstances, with the goal of conforming to ICE’s enforcement priorities.

His  <Social> Justice Department can sue the State of Arizona for wanting to enforce the Federal Laws that they don’t. Now he wants to play games with the wording to get what he wants.

Which is to NOT enforce the law!

This on top of just turning illegal around at the border and not counting them so they can say there have been less arrests so the border is more secure.

Isn’t the Lawyer-In-Chief just wonderful. 😦

The same Lawyer-In-Chief who is playing games with the word “War”.

Then there is the Orwellian Language Problem:

Entrants?!? Illegal Aliens Are Now ENTRANTS?!?

Illegal aliens. Illegal immigrants. Undocumented workers. Migrants. We’ve heard illegal aliens referred to by many names (we call ’em undocumented Democrats) but never before have we heard them called, “entrants.”

That is, until the second largest newspaper in Arizona, the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, had this headline a-blazin’ today:

McCain ripped for remark tying entrants to fires

In our minds, “entrants” are people who wait in line to get into an amusement park or folks who have decided they want a shot to win a contest for a new car. Not people who cross an international border in defiance of the law.

But what do we know?

We’re too busy trying to figure out what to call them when they are deported…departeds? (Jim Sharpe)

Welcome to ObamaLand, where the only rule is whatever they want it to be today and what they say it is, today.

Political Cartoons by Bob Gorrell

Obama, as usual, thought that a nice, calm, sit-down meeting with his opposition could solve everything. I suspect that Obama thinks his magic voice and oratory skills are enough to convince Republicans to cave on everything he wants.

Obama’s meeting with the huge assembly of House Republicans yielded no concrete progress, although both sides said it was productive simply in that both sides of a deeply divided government were able to have a candid discussion.

Part of that candid discussion apparently involved the GOP to nicely ask Obama to just stop lying about the Ryan plan to reform Medicare. We’ll see if their requests get heeded.

There are reportedly behind-the-scenes negotiations that have shown a little bit more promise than this little publicity stunt. Apparently Joe Biden, who’s leading the talks, has a bit more of a flair for negotiation than The One.

In the interest of the stability of financial markets, Speaker John Boehner is pushing for a resolution to the debt ceiling stand-off within the month, despite having an August dead-stop deadline for when the US will have to either default on its debt obligations or cut other spending in order to pay for the debt.

Regardless, it’s clear that this most recent, highly-publicized meeting is unlikely to turn out to lead anywhere. Big surprise! (Townhall.com)

Democrats in Congress recently went all out to try to pass the Dream Act, an amnesty for illegal-alien students willing to enroll — and stay — in college. Most who opposed it were derided as heartless at best, racist at worse. An insolvent California — still struggling with its $15 billion budget shortfall — is trying to advance its own version of the bill that would contravene federal immigration law and cost millions of dollars.

At about the same time, the state has announced plans to release about 40,000 prison inmates due to a shortage of funds needed to address overcrowding. Highly taxed Californians can borrow money to send illegal aliens to school, but not to keep felons in prison.

Americans still seethe about the Wall Street meltdown of 2008. But the “fat-cat bankers,” in fact, were players in a far larger fraud made possible by liberal executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Bill Clinton’s appointees and insider friends like Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, Jamie Gorelick, and Robert Rubin made millions while agencies and banks they oversaw lost billions.

It was just disclosed that Rep. Barney Frank helped land a job at Fannie Mae for his then-live-in boyfriend Herb Moses — despite at the time sitting on a House oversight committee that monitored the federally regulated agency. Fannie Mae went belly up. Moses made a lot of money. And Frank kept assuring the public in hearings that the nearly insolvent agency was in no financial danger.

When news surfaced about Frank’s conflict of interest, he scoffed, “There is no rule against it at all,” and predicted the story would die. He was right, it will. But substitute scary names like Dick Cheney or Halliburton and it would not have.

Last week, President Obama quietly signed a renewal of the once-hated Patriot Act — rather nonchalantly from the United Kingdom via mechanical autopen. There was no media outrage, there were no hyperbolic campus protests, no juvenile outbursts from a Hollywood celebrity about shredding the Constitution. Most even forgot that senatorial candidate Barack Obama had once promised to help repeal the Patriot Act.

But then such moral outrage belongs to the now fossilized age of George W. Bush’s presidency, when the exalted goal of stopping a conservative Texan justified any means of opposition necessary. We may continue almost all of his antiterrorism protocols, but they can no longer earn elite outrage.

The same holds true of the ongoing efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq that somehow reverted to back-page news. Moveon.org could care less about the new involvement in Libya, and the media now could care less about Moveon.org — in the same manner that Cindy Sheehan and Michael Moore are now no more than extinct dinosaurs of a forgotten Jurassic age. After all, Iraq magically went from the “worst” mistake in U.S. foreign policy history to one of the Obama administration’s “greatest achievements.”

Social Security and Medicare are nearing implosion. The aging baby boomers are about ready to retire in mass. They have no reputation for either stoic acceptance or self-sacrifice. The people are overtaxed, and the government is running a $1.6 trillion annual deficit. So either the retirement age must be upped, benefits cut, high payroll taxes further increased, or portions of the entitlements privatized to spur competition and efficiency.

And the progressive response to proposed remedies? Instead of a detailed plan of salvation, we see ads portraying a Rep. Paul Ryan look-alike, who is not just throwing an elderly woman out of her wheelchair, but sending her over a cliff as well.

There is a vast machinery of selective liberal outrage, fueled and lubricated by the media, universities and celebrity entertainment. When the redistributive welfare state starts to run out of money, the gears and pulleys are flipped on and shrill charges of greed, cruelty, nativism and racism spew out of the production line. The machine sputters and shuts down when an aggrieved liberal suddenly either must make cuts or adapt the very policies that he used to damn.

Understand the mechanics of selective outrage, and our upside-down politics become comprehensible: A state suing to enforce immigration law is tantamount to a racist intrusion on federal jurisdiction, but a state openly flouting federal statutes for the Dream Act is acting in enlightened humanitarian fashion.

Greedy Wall Street insiders at the center of the 2008 meltdown could not possibly include progressive bureaucrats and their liberal enablers in Congress, who are interested in people first, profits last. Everything in 2006 that we were told was near fascistic about national security suddenly evolved into what is wonderful and necessary.

Heck, General “Betray-Us” is now Obama’s pick to run the CIA!

There is no constant in life like the hypocrisy and selective childishness of The Left. 🙂

The Amnesty Bandwagon 2011

What is old, is new again. It’s not like Liberals actually care what you think. They just want to force you to think their way.

In his speech, Obama referred to “immigrants” six times and “immigration” seven times and said the United States is a “nation of laws.” But he did not use the words “legal” or “illegal” in his speech.

“It can be tempting to think that those coming to America today are somehow different from us,” Obama said. “And we need to not have amnesia about how we populated this country.”

Obama said we should “look at that migrant farmer and see our own grandfather disembarking at Ellis Island, or Angel Island in San Francisco Bay,” he said, “and to look at that young mother, newly arrived in this country, and see our own grandmothers leaving Italy or Ireland or Eastern Europe in search of something better.”

Notice the Orwellian use of language (or lack of it- like legal and illegal). Classic Orwell.

Notice, that Ellis Island was Legal Immigration and crossing the border without permission, documentation or any kind of screening at all, is made to be the equivalent.

Illegal Immigrant= Immigrant. Not distinction.

So if you think there is one, it must be because of race. 🙂

So when did you stop being a racist? 🙂

And you can never, ever be too hyperbolic if you’re a liberal…Case in point:

illegal immigration t-shirt

The public relations campaign for President Obama’s latest revival of “immigration reform” makes one thing crystal clear: This is not, and never has been, about homeland security. This is not, and never has been, about economic security. It’s about political security, plain and cynical.

In conjunction with Tuesday’s renewed White House push in Texas for a “new pathway to citizenship” for millions of illegal immigrants, disgruntled Latino activists are ratcheting up their radical anti-enforcement rhetoric. Illinois Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez — a persistent critic on Obama’s left flank — lambasted federal workplace enforcement raids this weekend. On Sunday, he repeated his hyperbolic attacks on homeland security agents “terrorizing” neighborhoods and ripping babies from the breasts of nursing moms. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano made no public effort to defend her employees.

On campuses across the country, unhappy ethnic college student groups have turned up the heat on Democrats to resurrect the “DREAM Act” nightmare for the 12th time in a decade. The legislation — persistently rejected by a bipartisan majority on Capitol Hill — would provide illegal aliens (not just teenagers, but students up to age 35) federal education access and benefits, plus a conditional pass from deportation and a special path toward green cards and U.S. citizenship for themselves and unlimited relatives.

Obama argues that his comprehensive amnesty plan would boost America’s bottom line. But the open-borders math doesn’t add up. The Congressional Budget Office score of the last DREAM Act package estimates that “the bill would increase projected deficits by more than $5 billion in at least one of the four consecutive 10-year periods starting in 2021.” And that doesn’t include the costs of the unlimited family members the millions of DREAM Act beneficiaries would be able to bring to the U.S. A separate cost analysis by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Immigration Studies concluded that the illegal alien DREAM Act bailout would cost taxpayers $6.2 billion a year and “crowd out” U.S. students in the classroom.

To help gloss over those sobering realities and blur the lines between legal and illegal immigration, Obama summoned Latino celebrities such as actresses Eva Longoria and Rosario Dawson. The starlets — deemed important “stakeholders” in the immigration policy debate by the celebrity in chief — have served as glamorous distractions from the vocal complaints of Southwest governors, ranchers, farmers and other victims of continued border chaos. These are the real stakeholders whose lives and livelihoods are at risk. But none had a seat at the Hollywood-filled table.

While proudly emphasizing her ethnic loyalties, Dawson (an outspoken critic of Arizona’s immigration enforcement law) insists immigration reform “isn’t just a Mexican” or Latino issue. But for more candid liberal strategists, the illegal alien amnesty bandwagon is nothing more than a tool to motivate current and future Latinos to protect the Democrats’ grip on power. Eliseo Medina, secretary treasurer of Obama’s deep-pocketed backers at the Service Employees International Union, laid out the stakes in an interview with MSNBC:

“Clearly with immigration reform and any other kind of reform that would benefit the Latino community, we have to make sure that our voices are heard in the ballot box. There are approximately 23 million Latinos that are eligible to vote, yet only 10 million voted in 2008.”

SEIU’s goal: “If we increase the turnout from 10 million to anywhere between 12 and 15 million, we’re going to have an outsized impact on the election in 2012.”

If, as widely expected, Obama fails to deliver amnesty through the legislative process, there’s always amnesty by executive fiat. White House insiders first floated the idea in June 2010 to unilaterally extend either deferred action or parole to millions of illegal aliens in the United States. This administration has accomplished its major policy agenda items through force, fiat and fraud. Immigration will be no different.

Unfortunately for the law-abiding, there is no Hollywood-Washington-Big Labor lobby to speak for them. While Obama’s homeland security officials hang their “mission accomplished” banner over the border, the feds have barely made a dent in the three-year naturalization application backlog or the 400,000-deportation fugitive problem.

Meanwhile, law enforcement witnesses told a House subcommittee last month that border smuggling has grown so out of control that federal prosecutors are simply declining to pursue cases. Cochise County, Arizona, Sheriff Larry Dever testified about the feds’ so-called “Turn Back South” policy — which includes lowering thresholds for drug and smuggling prosecutions, and permitting border-crossers at least seven strikes before being charged with immigration misdemeanors. And just last week, the General Accounting Office reported another massive 1.6 million illegal visa overstayers backlog — a problem exposed by five of the 19 September 11 hijackers who benefited from systemic failure to enforce visa regulations.

So much for “never forget.” (Michelle Malkin)

There’s a lot of wrestling today over what Barack Obama’s immigration speech means. I would submit it means about the same thing it did the last time he gave it— in July 2010.

Here is the transcript of one Obama immigration speech. Here is the text of another immigration speech. Without looking at the dates, I dare you to tell them apart.

Below are the pertinent parts of, well, both speeches. Remember when the 2010 speech kicked off a serious, concentrated effort to move comprehensive immigration reform through Congress through the heroic efforts of Obama, the bipartisan zen master? Yeah, me neither. Often, an Obama speech is just a kick-off for…more Obama speeches.

2011: At times, there has been fear and resentment directed towards newcomers, especially in hard economic times.

2010: Now, we can’t forget that this process of immigration and eventual inclusion has often been painful. Each new wave of immigrants has generated fear and resentments towards newcomers, particularly in times of economic upheaval.

2011: And then when I think about immigration I think about the naturalization ceremonies that we’ve held at the White House for members of our military.  Nothing could be more inspiring.  Even though they were not yet citizens when they joined our military, these men and women signed up to serve…

Another was a woman named Perla Ramos who was born and raised in Mexico and came to the United States shortly after 9/11, and joined the Navy.  And she said, “I take pride in our flag and the history we write day by day.”

2010: This past April, we held a naturalization ceremony at the White House for members of our armed forces. Even though they were not yet citizens, they had enlisted. One of them was a woman named Perla Ramos — born and raised in Mexico, came to the United States shortly after 9/11, and she eventually joined the Navy. And she said, “I take pride in our flag and the history that forged this great nation and the history we write day by day.”

2011: What matters is that you believe in the ideals on which we were founded; that you believe that all of us are created equal, endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights.  (Applause.)  All of us deserve our freedoms and our pursuit of happiness.  In embracing America, you can become American.

2010: …and that being an American is not a matter of blood or birth. It’s a matter of faith. It’s a matter of fidelity to the shared values that we all hold so dear. That’s what makes us unique. That’s what makes us strong. Anybody can help us write the next great chapter in our history.

2011: We can point to the genius of Einstein, the designs of I. M. Pei, the stories of Isaac Asimov, the entire industries that were forged by Andrew Carnegie.

2010: The scientific breakthroughs of Albert Einstein, the inventions of Nikola Tesla, the great ventures of Andrew Carnegie’s U.S. Steel and Sergey Brin’s Google, Inc. -– all this was possible because of immigrants.

2011: That’s the promise of this country — that anyone can write the next chapter in our story

2010: That’s what makes us unique. That’s what makes us strong. Anybody can help us write the next great chapter in our history.

2011: That’s one reason it’s been so difficult to reform our broken immigration system.  When an issue is this complex, when it raises such strong feelings, it’s easier for politicians to defer until the problem the next election.

2010: Unfortunately, reform has been held hostage to political posturing and special-interest wrangling -– and to the pervasive sentiment in Washington that tackling such a thorny and emotional issue is inherently bad politics.

2011: Today, there are an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants here in the United States.  Some crossed the border illegally.  Others avoid immigration laws by overstaying their visas.  Regardless of how they came, the overwhelming majority of these folks are just trying to earn a living and provide for their families.

2010: The overwhelming majority of these men and women are simply seeking a better life for themselves and their children.

2011: Also, because undocumented immigrants live in the shadows, where they’re vulnerable to unscrupulous businesses that skirt taxes, and pay workers less than the minimum wage, or cut corners with health and safety laws, this puts companies who follow the rules, and Americans who rightly demand the minimum wage or overtime or just a safe place to work, it puts those businesses at a disadvantage.

2010: Many settle in low-wage sectors of the economy; they work hard, they save, they stay out of trouble. But because they live in the shadows, they’re vulnerable to unscrupulous businesses who pay them less than the minimum wage or violate worker safety rules -– thereby putting companies who follow those rules, and Americans who rightly demand the minimum wage or overtime, at an unfair [dis]advantage. (Mary Katherine Ham)

So what if they were defeated the last time and the time before that. Liberals don’t care.

As Charlie Sheen would say, “winning!” 🙂

All You Need to Know about Amnesty But We’re Afraid it Was True

Before I get to my blog, I found out this morning that one of my Icons has passed away, The Greatest Doctor Who Companion of all Time (see the 200 poll taken last year where she beat every new companion by a mile), Sarah Jane Smith, as played by Elisabeth Sladen has died of cancer.

I am deeply saddened by this news.

So let’s get on with it…

Political Cartoons by Bob Gorrell

All you need to know about how cynical and manipulative and how utterly low this President will go to get re-elected (with some help from the hapless Republicans) is contained in this story on the new spin for Amnesty.

It’s a blatant attempt to win Hispanic voters and the pro-Amnesty crowd back.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

President Barack Obama held a meeting on immigration attended by those he called “stakeholders” at The White House on Tuesday.

The president snubbed many experts who could contribute firsthand experience for addressing what he calls immigration. Greta van Susteren at Fox News said not a single border governor was invited. Wouldn’t you think those governors are the real ‘stakeholders’?

Among those included, according to various media, were identity politics opportunist Al Sharpton and AFL-CIO strongman Richard Trumka. The official White House readout did not even include the names of those who attended.

So the “stakeholders” are Unions and black political opportunists. Not one of them is a border governor or border state official.

I guess we have no stake in illegal immigration. 🙂

The “stakeholders” are in his re-election and if you aren’t one, well screw you!! You racist! 🙂

The ‘stakeholders’ release reads like a campaign statement—Obama “reiterated his deep disappointment” the DREAM Act failed. The US Report covered the latest DREAM Act legislation—the bill was an entitlement program full of loopholes, and the cost would have been funded by US taxpayers.

So here it comes again. But it will have an Orwellian political makeover and it will be loaded up with guilt, fear, and shame.

So get ready for DREAM ACT II: The Pandering!

The immigration system is in chaos, and that condition is a direct result of failed US foreign policy with Mexico, failed border security and a massive exodus of Mexican citizens as well as citizens of Guatemala, El Salvador and numerous other countries. Don’t assume the foreign nationals coming to the U.S. are all from countries south of the border. There’s no accountability because you can’t document the undocumentable. Foreign nationals enjoy more privacy rights than American citizens and documented migrant workers.

Michael Cutler, a well-known immigration and national security expert, said US Citizenship and Immigration Services processes more than 6 million applications each year. Cutler said it’s easier for USCIS to just process the applications and get “rewarded” for productivity.

Cutler also said more than 230 US cities are “infested” by members of “extremely violent” drug cartels.

Consider something else Cutler wrote in his latest newsletter. “[W]hen an alien is naturalized, that alien may take any name he or she wants on the day he is sworn in as a new citizen.”

Cutler also noted both the administrations of presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama endorsed a “catch and release” approach—a method that artificially lowers numbers of foreign nationals believed to be in the country.

Reportage on the meeting didn’t include all the “stakeholders” Obama invited, but van Susteren said a list was furnished to media outlets.

No media mentioned the cost of entitlements as a result of uncontrolled migration, and neither major political party has addressed that issue as well. Congress has instead focused on entitlements for American citizens and documented aliens.

Both parties know America has a problem documenting foreign nationals and it’s likely both have set their sights on using immigration as a political ploy to garner votes in 2012. (The US Report)

Just remember, “By Any means necessary” without regard to morals, ethics, or even decency. The Democrats, and especially THIS President doesn’t care what links they have to go to win. There are no rules.

And the Ministry of Truth Mainstream Media is right there in lock step with them.

And if you’re not, you’re a racist! a bigot! and just plain mean just you wait and see. 🙂

The News of The Day

My condolences to those killed in Tucson yesterday. And my best to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

This is not the way. Period.

But this is what all the divisive politics of the Left has wrought.

So now we have a new “crisis” for Obama to exploit.

What do you want to bet that later in the month we’ll have a push for Amnesty for Illegals in her name or the 9-year old girl that was killed in spray of bullets.

Yes, I am that cynical.

Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.”- Former Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel.

Am I that cynical? ‘Fraid so. We’ll see if it’s justified.

The Senior editor of The Leftist Huffington Post is talking about using this tragedy as a spring board for rebooting Obama’s image for 2012!!

As was the case with Clinton, Obama may be able to remind voters of what they like best about him: his sensible demeanor. Amid the din and ferocity of our political culture, he respectfully keeps his voice down, his emotions in check and his mind open.

That is the pitch, at least. The trick is to make it without seeming to be trying to make it.

In other words, fool them again!

Social Justice everyone. The Socialist Utopia.

Another potential “crisis” is Gun Control.

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”– Adolf Hitler

Candidate Obama in 2008: “You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

The shooters’ YouTube page, in which he lists both The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf among his favorite books, is still operational. Incidentally, Congresswoman Giffords is Jewish.

So watch out, it’s another Liberal “Crisis” so you’ll lose even more freedom for it.

The sheriff blamed the vitriolic political rhetoric that has consumed the country, much of it centered in Arizona.

“When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous,” he said. “And unfortunately, Arizona, I think, has become the capital. We have become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry.” (Huffington Post)

It’s all cracker’s fault! Damn those Tea Party ‘terrorists’.

We need Amnesty Now!

Sad isn’t it.

Or maybe the Christina Green (The 9 year old killed by the gunman) Memorial Gun Ban?

I wonder if the Democrats will run Rep. Giffords for Vice-President in 2012 or President in 2016?

Oooh, now that was  cynical thought! 🙂

The List:

-John Roll, 63, a federal district court judge.

-Gabriel Zimmerman, 30, Giffords’ director of community outreach

-Dorwin Stoddard, 76, a pastor at Mountain Ave. Church of Christ.

-Christina Greene, 9, a student at Mesa Verde Elementary

-Dorothy Morris, 76

-Phyllis Schneck, 79

Maybe, just maybe, some of the divisive rhetoric will be toned down….

Nah, I doubt it. Liberals are addicted to it.

But may the victims rest in peace and may we all learn the real lessons of this tragedy and not just more political advantage.

But I doubt it.

Mr “Boycott my State” because we all racist Rep. Grijalva:

Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.), who represents a district adjacent to Gabrielle Giffords’s, said that Saturday’s shooting is a consequence of the vitriolic rhetoric that has arisen over the past few years among extreme elements of the Tea Party.

“The climate has gotten so toxic in our political discourse, setting up for this kind of reaction for too long. It’s unfortunate to say that. I hate to say that,” Grijalva said in an interview with The Huffington Post. “If you’re an opponent, you’re a deadly enemy,” Grijalva said of the mindset among Arizona extremists. “Anybody who contributed to feeding this monster had better step back and realize they’re threatening our form of government.”

Grijalva said that Tea Party leader Sarah Palin should reflect on the rhetoric that she has employed. “She — as I mentioned, people contributing to this toxic climate — Ms. Palin needs to look at her own behavior, and if she wants to help the public discourse, the best thing she could do is to keep quiet.”

Grijalva said that his family has been provided with protection and that he expects further precautions will be taken by Capitol Police when he returns to Capitol Hill.

“Her whole future’s ahead of her,” Grijalva said of Giffords. “She’s a moderate; I’m not. She’s my friend. Our difference of opinion did not interfere with our friendship.” (Huffington Post)

You see, the Tea Party and “Right Wing Extremist” made him do it. So we must clamp down on them!

Let’s watch and see, shall we.

So how long before it’s George W. Bush’s Fault?? 🙂

Illinois, one of the 3 states most identified with potential State Bankruptcy has a new plan to erase it’s $15 Billion deficit.

The state is run by Liberals.

So what do you suppose that could be?

Gov. Pat Quinn and the leaders of both houses of the Illinois General Assembly have agreed on raising the state income tax.

The Democratic leaders in the Illinois General Assembly believe this income tax increase, a corporate tax hike, and a $1-per-pack tax increase on cigarettes would erase the state’s $15 billion budget deficit.

What it will erase is anyone wanting to live in Illinois or locate a business there.

But, they are Liberals after all, they can only think along a very narrow Tax and Spend, evil Corporation line after all.

So Indiana and Iowa , Missouri and Wisconsin expect lots of refugees.

OBAMACARE UPDATE from THE CBO

The Liberals and The Leftist Media who are so in love with the CBO because they were saying that repealing Health Care would cost billions. Well, I doubt they will be touting this one : (Thanks to American Spectator)

The Congressional Budget Office, in an email to Capitol Hill staffers obtained by the Spectator, has said that repealing the national health care law would reduce net spending by $540 billion in the ten year period from 2012 through 2021. That number represents the cost of the new provisions, minus Medicare cuts. Repealing the bill would also eliminate $770 billion in taxes. It’s the tax hikes in the health care law (along with the Medicare cuts) which accounts for the $230 billion in deficit reduction.

CBO and the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) have not yet developed a detailed estimate of the budgetary impact of H.R. 2, the Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act, which would repeal the major health care legislation enacted in March 2010. Yesterday, we released a preliminary analysis of that legislation indicating that, over the 2012-2021 period, the effect of enacting H.R. 2 on the federal budget as a result of changes in direct spending and revenues is likely to be an increase in deficits in the vicinity of $230 billion, plus or minus the effects of forthcoming technical and economic changes to CBO’s and JCT’s projections for that period.

We have been asked to provide the revenue and direct spending components of that total.  Extrapolating the estimated budgetary effects of the original health care legislation and accounting for the effects of subsequent legislation, CBO anticipates that enacting H.R. 2 would probably yield, for the 2012-2021 period, a reduction in revenues in the neighborhood of $770 billion and a reduction in outlays in the vicinity of $540 billion, plus or minus the effects of forthcoming technical and economic changes to CBO’s and JCT’s projections.

CBO will post a Director’s blog with this information on the CBO website shortly.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

UNION UPDATE

The Grand Rapids Education Association, a local affiliate of Michigan’s largest teachers’ union, is attempting to pick off one-by-one 90-some members that have refused to pay their dues.

About 18 months ago, the school board voted to no longer deduct dues from employees’ paychecks, which meant union members had to physically write a check to the union. Many saw it as their opportunity to protest the obnoxious behavior of union leaders during a previous contract negotiation period. The union president, Paul Helder, was particularly pompous during negotiations, claiming the union was fighting a “war on terrorism.” He even established “War Time Committees” to organize the fight against the school board and administrators.

Marjorie Hayward objected to her president’s behavior and refused to pay up. So the union took her to small claims court.

The judge, citing the fact that Michigan is not a right-to-work state, ruled she has to fork over the money, regardless of whether or not the union is representing her interests.

Let that marinate for a bit – because of current Michigan law, the union has the right to take a school employee to court and extract money out of her. Isn’t that grand?

**********************

As if the $6 billion budget shortfall that he presided over didn’t really exist – a deficit that is expected to expand to a whopping $24.5 billion over the next eighteen months – outgoing Governor Arnold Governor Schwarzenegger had just called the legislature in to a “special session,” but then had called a press conference to announce his “really big plan.” For a second and final time before leaving office, he was going to try and legislate a state-wide ban on plastic grocery bags. This, he explained, would help save the planet, but would also help create so-called “green jobs.”

Indeed, this was a matter of “ideology trumping reality.” And never mind that Rome is burning -California will “be green.”

You may be broke, but you can still be “green”!

You just can’t make this stuff up.

But ideology still trumps reality in California, even in this new, “post Arnold” era. And so it was that, less than twenty-four hours after his inauguration, Governor Jerry Brown began laying the groundwork for raising taxes in California, rather than cutting government spending.

The problem with the state budget, so the Governor reasoned, was not that politicians had spent too much or that government agencies are wasteful. No, no, Californians aren’t taxed enough – they’ve been given an “unfair” break on their property taxes via the state’s famous, 32-year-old “Proposition 13,” and if that could be undone, then the state budget would be fixed.

Proposition 13, in case you’ve forgotten, was a landmark ballot proposition that drew a record number of voters to the precincts in 1978. The law passed in a landslide, and imposed a statewide limit on the rate at which local counties and cities could levy property taxes.

So all we have to do is spend our way to prosperity!

Sound familiar?

It’s a tragic day after in more ways than one.

Stop the Insanity!

Political CartoonObama said Congress had its “most productive post-election period” in decades. “And it comes on the heels of the most productive two years that we’ve had in generations.”

<<Industrial strength Super-Mega Sized Barf Bag!!!>>

Obama is correct though, the Republican rolled over more and played fetch in the Lame Duck session more than the last 2 years.

I guess Republicans should never go Duck hunting because they are completely useless at it and like one of the old Daffy Duck cartoons the duck just takes the dog (or elephant) to the cleaners and just runs circles around him and laughs insanely.

Now:  President Barack Obama says the economy will be his “singular focus” over the next two years.(AP)

Jan 9, 2010:  The Labor Department’s report on December job losses “was a reminder that the road to recovery is never straight, and that we have to continue to work every single day to get our economy moving again,” Obama said. “For most Americans and for me, that means jobs.”

Then Chief of Staff and “Never Waste a Crisis” Rahm Emmanuel:  “If he didn’t address it like a laser, if he talked about jobs then, people would have said he wasn’t dealing with the problem at hand. You have to deal with all of it.” (FOX)

Jan 21, 2010:  President Obama already was planning to put a heavy focus on jobs and the economy in next week’s State of the Union address, but his top aides are signaling that pivot is going to be even sharper in the wake of the Democrats’ stunning election defeat in Massachusetts. (CNN)

Dec 4, 2009: Obama convenes a summit here on jobs, then flies Friday to Allentown, Pa., for the first in what will be periodic listening tours on the economy. The goal is to develop new spending and tax proposals to help many of the nation’s nearly 16 million unemployed people find work in 2010.

“Though the job losses we were experiencing earlier this year have slowed dramatically, we’re still not creating enough new jobs each month to make up for the ones we’re losing,” Obama said last week. “For families and communities across the country, this recession will not end until we completely turn that tide.”

July 29, 2008: Mr. Obama’s focus on jobs seemed intended to show his mastery of an issue of special concern to working-class voters, especially working-class whites in industrial swing states like Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. During the Democratic primaries, those voters tended to support his main rival, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

“The economic emergency is growing more severe,” Mr. Obama said just before the afternoon meeting began. “Jobs are down, wages are falling,” and “the financial markets threaten to be engaged in a protracted credit crunch with long-lasting ramifications.”

“I believe more action is going to be necessary,” he added, “so that entrepreneurship is encouraged, so that the market is thriving, so that hard work is rewarded.” (NYT)

I believe him. Don’t you? 😦

This will probably be gone from his mind on the plane to Hawaii. He has more important things to think about.

He still has to convince the new 112th Congress to pass the DREAM ACT & Cap & Trade after all. Leave no AGENDA item undeterred!

LET THE RATIONING BEGIN

The FDA has reversed its approval of a widely used cancer drug approved in Europe to treat breast cancer on the grounds it doesn’t provide a “sufficient” benefit. Let the terminally ill and their doctors decide.

One of the blessings of blocking the omnibus spending bill was that it included $1 billion for the implementation of ObamaCare.

Yet the first effects are still being felt, the latest being the Food and Drug Administration’s revoking of regulatory approval of Avastin to treat late-stage breast cancer.

The reason given by the FDA was that the drug does not provide “a sufficient benefit in slowing disease progression to outweigh the significant risk to patients.” What risk? These women are dying.

The drug buys them precious time, and the only risk they face is from an FDA saying “pull the plug.”

On the same day the FDA channeled Dr. Kevorkian, its European counterpart, the European Medicines Agency, issued a statement approving Avastin for metastatic breast cancer.

Benefits of the drug, it said, “continue to outweigh the risks, because the available data have overwhelmingly shown to prolong progression-free survival of breast cancer patients without a negative effect on the overall survival.”

So what say you, FDA? An agency overseeing the cost-conscious, government-run health care systems in the European Union says Avastin does provide sufficient benefit at little risk to the patient.

The annual cost, however, is a staggering $88,000 annually, and under ObamaCare cost trumps medical care. A prime decision is whether extending your life is worth the cost.

Consider that every year some 17,500 American women are prescribed Avastin by their practicing oncologists to treat their condition and prolong their life. Last October, the U.S. National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a group of 21 leading cancer centers that issues evidence-based medical guidelines, reaffirmed Avastin’s efficacy in certain cases.

Avastin, the marketing name for the drug bevacizumab, is the world’s best-selling cancer drug. Used primarily to treat colon cancer, it was first approved by the FDA in 2008 for treating breast cancer after it was found that by cutting the blood flow to tumors it slowed the progression of the disease. In some cases it has been shown to extend life as long as 20 months.

In a joint letter to the FDA and key lawmakers, two organizations — Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance— urge that Avastin continue to be approved for metastatic breast cancer patients and warn of the message this “decision sends about drug development for women with advanced breast cancer.”

Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death among American women, with 40,000 fatalities last year. Komen says the decision to use Avastin should be made between a woman and her doctor after a thoughtful consideration of the benefits and risks. We agree.

Avastin is still available on an off-label basis since it is still approved for colon, lung, kidney and brain cancer. But insurers are reluctant to cover drugs that are not FDA-approved. Medicare never does and the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services are now headed by Dr. Donald Berwick, to whom we and others have referred as a one-man death panel.

“The decision is not whether or not we will ration care — the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open,” Berwick has said. For some that will mean the eyes closing forever.

Berwick has also opined: “We can make a sensible social decision and say, ‘Well, at this point, to have access to a particular additional benefit (new drug or medical intervention) is so expensive that our taxpayers have better use for those funds.'”

Like what? Tattoo-removal programs or Formosan subterranean termite research? This is your government, and it’s here to help. (IBD)

Tiny Tim to Dr. Berwick, “God bless us, everyone.”

Oh sorry, that was too religious for the political correct anti-christian liberals out there that scream every time God is mentioned.

Good. 🙂

Christmas Jeers Everyone

In the “No good deed goes unpunished” category: 2 good samaritans in Baltimore County Maryland jump in to freezing water to rescue a deer.

They get a natural resources police officer on the scene wrote both men a ticket.

“And he didn’t say anything,” Jim Hart said. “We went in and out of the water numerous times.  He didn’t stop us at all.”

They say they were ticketed for not wearing life vests, although both are over the age for mandatory use of flotation devices. (CBS 13-Baltimore)

Imagine if they were trying to feed that deer a Happy Meal! They’d be put on death row…:)

*********************************************************************

The DREAM Act died.

Well, 1 out 2 ain’t bad as Meatloaf once said.

Not that the liberal media noticed. They were to busy have a Gay Pride Celebration.

So the hispanics they love so much got thrown under the bus and the media barely noticed.

How typical.

But the snotty little children in House who lost the Omnibus Cramdown decided to avoid the shutdown at midnight Saturday by extending the current spending to…THIS TUESDAY!

Yes, they extended it just a couple of days, undoubtedly so that Harry could Houdini the Democrats who scuttled the Ominibus Bill into line so they could vote for it again on Tuesday.

How petty was this?

*****

But at least Eric Holder and Obama got it in the shorts this time by Congress.

The Democrat-controlled U.S. House of Representatives has voted 212-206 to ban the Obama administration from spending any funds to try terrorism suspects in civilian court instead of military commissions. Attorney General Eric Holder is reportedly all miffed and vexed. 🙂

I like it when he’s vexed.

On Dec. 11, he was off to reassure a San Francisco Muslim group that he wouldn’t let the FBI entice Muslim youngsters into becoming terrorists(The Liberals view of the Portland bomb plot). Who thinks Holder’s date book will be filled up speaking to Christian and Jewish groups worried that their kids can be talked into committing mass murder?

Altogether now, let’s sum it up with some seasonal style:

’Twas right before Christmas, when all through the House

All the Democrats were stirring at the White House Mouse;

The payback was hung by leadership with care,

In hopes that the Dems wouldn’t give it a stare;

Holder was nestled all snug in his bed,

While visions of terrorists danced in his head;

And Pelosi in her ’kerchief, and Hoyer in his cap,

Had just settled their brains for Obama’s trap,

When out on the floor there arose such a clatter,

They sprang from their beds to see what was the matter.

Away to the window they flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

So Goes California.

The liberal birthplace of all bad ideas has a defeated one they want to force on everyone, Cap & Trade.

You know, where if you use to much energy or the wrong kind of energy the government steps in to crush you for it.

But, fear not, this to like unemployment & raising taxes according to liberals this kind of “green” scheme will create jobs.

And you wonder why I agree that liberalism is a mental disorder. 🙂

hey, they are only $26 Billion dollars in debt and absolutely convinced that the taxpayers of the other 49 states will have to bail them out so what hell, why not.

No time like the present. Hey, we double the national debt so that was the perfect time for liberals to put 50% more debt in 3 years on future generations after all.

Timing is everything with liberals. All bad.

It’s good for the environment (allegedly). It’s touchy-feely feel goodism.

It make them feel all warm and fuzzy. It can’t be totally wrong then can it?

On Friday, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the bureaucracy charged with implementing AB 32, the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, adopted a cap-and-trade scheme to reduce California’s greenhouse gas emissions by about 15% by 2020. CARB’s regulations go into effect in 2012.

The unelected officials at CARB intend to reorder California’s use of energy. In so doing they blandly declaim that their rules will create jobs while admitting to higher energy costs and a slowing economy. Somehow, this formula is transmogrified by CARB analysts into net job creation.

Given the immutable laws of math, one is forced to calculate that CARB’s actions will “create” low-paying jobs at the expense of good jobs.

Beyond CARB’s soothing words, what will Californians, one-eighth of America, likely experience on a practical level?

At the launch of California’s cap-and-trade program in 2012, CARB will give away allowances to the state’s 500 largest greenhouse gas emitters. Companies that cut their emissions, through innovation or lower economic activity, can sell their allowances to firms that need them to comply.

Over time, however, CARB expects to charge for allowances, generating a lucrative revenue stream for a cash-starved state.

The eventual selling of greenhouse gas allowances opens up an avenue for abuse. New York, New Jersey and New Hampshire are part of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a mirror of California’s Western Climate Initiative with six other states and four Canadian provinces.

Rather than spend gas allowance funds on energy specific projects, as intended, all three Eastern states have raided climate funds for a more mundane purpose: balancing their budgets, with the total diversion to date exceeding $158 million.

Given California’s budget history, cap-and-trade will soon become cap-and-tax.

The Western Climate Initiative itself offers an opportunity for fraud on a massive scale. Its purpose was to decrease the cost of reducing emissions by letting each region play to its strengths: the Northwest has abundant hydropower while California has strong solar energy potential, so it makes sense to exchange the two.

Or so the theory goes.

In practice, British Columbia, through its government-owned utility BC Power, has been scamming California consumers. BC Power, hit with a fine for its role in California’s Enron-era electricity scandal, has been selling “green” hydropower to California for years.

Then, in an act of electron-laundering, has backfilled its electricity deficit with coal-fired power from Washington state and Alberta. This lets Californians feel good about their electricity while netting Canadians a healthy profit.

Another misapplication of California’s cap-and-trade effort will come in the guise of “environmental justice.” Since cap-and-trade’s main purpose will be to increase the cost of energy, this increased cost must be borne by California’s consumers. Environmental justice’s purpose would ensure that favored political groups will have these higher energy costs subsidized by state programs to insulate them from the pain.

Los Angeles lawmaker Kevin De Leon tried such an approach with last year’s AB 1405. Vetoed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, De Leon’s bill sought to set up the California Climate Change Community Benefits Fund, its purpose being to skim money raised by selling GHG allowances to give to socioeconomically “disadvantaged communities.”

CARB appears set to let up to 8% of the greenhouse gas reductions be met by purchasing “offset credits.” These credits would likely be bought when firms find it difficult or costly to purchase allowances from within California.

The trouble arises in that these credits may be purchased from developing nations. Experience shows that such transactions are rife with fraud, as the Third World lacks the transparency and rule of law needed to ensure compliance.

In addition, offset credits will encourage the flow of capital out of California, where it is needed to create jobs, and into often unproductive uses in developing nations.

Lastly, to be successful, California’s greenhouse gas reduction effort must drastically overhaul transportation. California’s GHG emissions challenge is unique among the states in that only 20% of California’s emissions come from the electrical sector while 50% are generated by transportation.

With its benign climate, California is America’s most electrically efficient state and gets only one-sixth of its electricity from coal compared with the national average of 50%. On the other hand, Californians don’t live in dense urban centers; they like their cars and their freedom to travel. As a result, CARB’s proposed regulations hit oil refiners and drivers particularly hard.

Under AB 32, California refiners must begin to comply with a low carbon fuel standard in 2011, reducing the “carbon intensity” of transportation fuels by 10% by 2020.

This can be done by increasing the amount of ethanol used in fuel (and, when generated by corn, likely has a net negative impact on the environment), by increasing hydrogen-powered vehicles (extremely costly), placing more electric cars in service or by reducing the carbon intensity of the crude oil used in refining.

This last alternative entails reworking California refineries so they can lower carbon-intense, non-California crude for their feedstock, a vastly expensive and uncertain proposition that may force the closure of some California refineries.

Finally, due to burdensome reporting and compliance requirements, California refiners will be at a disadvantage to out of state and foreign refiners, putting added pressure on these big in-state employers to shift their operations out of California and making California more reliant on energy imports.

With California’s adoption of its low-carbon fuel standard, some analysts are forecasting a gasoline price shock of 30% to 80% in five years. With Congress appearing set to end corn ethanol subsidies, this cost may go higher, hitting California families for an additional $570 to $6,500 per year, according to the George C. Marshall Institute.

CARB’s new cap-and-trade rules will place yet another load on California’s teetering economy. Yet with AB 32 the law of the land, CARB has little choice, other than encouraging an ambitious program to build modern nuclear power plants to reduce California’s carbon footprint.

A likelier course will be the repeal of AB 32 before the end of the decade as Californians come to realize that the Golden State’s go-it-alone approach to reducing transportation-fuel carbon intensity isn’t immune to the laws of economics or physics.

But Liberals are, in their own heads. Sounds like California needs to go on a low CARB diet and cut their fat intake. 🙂

START DADT DREAM & Big Sis Too!

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

Any time you kill a bloated, $1.27 trillion spending bill that includes more than 6,000 earmarks worth $8 billion, it’s a good day’s work. But as far as this lame-duck Congress is concerned, the work isn’t done.

And a bloated trillion dollar monster escaped.

As this is written, Reid and his congressional allies are trying to force votes on the Dream Act; the New START treaty; “don’t ask, don’t tell”; and a massive environmental bill — all in the final days of the year if not this very weekend before Christmas.

Got to get in that last Lame Duck Poison. Gotta push on and get as much of it injected as possible.

Screw the people. This is THE AGENDA we are talking about.

And nothing on earth is more important than THE AGENDA!

As a final insult to American voters, and virtually unnoticed by the media, Reid & Co. have rolled some 100 separate environmental bills into one — creating a giant land and private-property grab that again will have consequences well beyond the here and now.

Reid hasn’t even allowed this omnibus measure to be debated. And yet, as Landon Zida reported on the Heritage Foundation’s blog, the bill would “designate hundreds of thousands of acres of land under the control of federal government.” And all of it, as columnist Michelle Malkin has noted, with virtually no input. (IBD)

CRAM IT DOWN! CRAM IT DOWN! CRAM IT DOWN!

THE AGENDA UBER ALLES!!

The Democrats Christmas (politically incorrect)…Holiday Gift to all is to disarm our country against it’s enemies, give amnesty to illegals and to cram gays down your throat (even if you think the whole thing is silly) because these are the most important things in the universe to Liberals– THE AGENDA!

And they must get them in before Mommy & Daddy come home on Jan 5th and force them to clean up the mess they’ve made, kicking and screaming that it was someone else’s fault!

Meanwhile, Big Sis who’s I-can-see-you-naked Scanner have scientifically been proven to be incapable of detecting things like GUNS and a Border Patrol agent is killed by Mexican drug dealers on our own soil she’s gone all Al Gore!

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that her department is creating a new task force to battle the effects of climate change on domestic security operations.

Speaking at the first White House Forum on Environmental Justice on Thursday, Napolitano discussed the initial findings of the department’s recently created “Climate Change and Adaptation Task Force.”

Napolitano explained that the task force was charged with “identifying and assessing the impact that climate change could have on the missions and operations of the Department of Homeland Security.” (CNS)

The all day White House Forum on Environmental Justice also included talks by White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley, EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, Attorney General Eric Holder, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.

But don’t worry, they don’t have an AGENDA! 🙂

The two scientists most responsible for the development magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines used in hospitals have reached the conclusion that these currently deployed contraptions are not effective at preventing terrorists from carrying explosives aboard aircraft.

Basically, Leon Kaufman and Joseph W. Carlson, described as the “scientific genius” behind the MRIs, claim that TSA and the manufactureres, in order to show effectiveness, have biased the studies and left out known limitations of the machines.

Mr. Kaufman and Mr. Carlson showed less restraint in a peer-reviewed article posted online Nov. 26 by The Journal of Transportation Security. They created a computer model to simulate scanner operation and conclude an Islamic terrorist could easily sneak a large quantity of explosives past the device. “It is very likely that a large (15-20 cm in diameter), irregularly-shaped, cm-thick pancake with beveled edges, taped to the abdomen, would be invisible to this technology, ironically, because of its large volume, since it is easily confused with normal anatomy,” the study explains.

The researchers pointed out that the manufacturers of airport scanners positioned contraband like guns, knives and drugs in unnatural ways to conceal the limitations of their device. For example, the simulated drugs are always packed into tight rectangles that show up distinctly on the machine. TSA employees would have a far more difficult time spotting less tidy terrorists. “The eye is a good signal averager at certain spatial frequencies, but it is doubtful that an operator can be trained to detect these differences unless the material is hard-edged, not too large and regular shaped,” Mr. Kaufman and Mr. Carlson wrote.

Theirs is not the only such study. Last March the government’s own GAO reported that it was “unclear” whether airport scanners would have detected Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s botched Christmas Day underwear bombing attempt.

As TSA begins to touch more and more Americans in ways that they feel “ain’t right,” and more whole body scanners are deployed, the concerns of the public will increase. Even TSA officials admit that less that 10 percent of the flying public have faced a whole body scanner or an enhanced pat-down and there is already an uproar.

Add to that, radiation questions that are sure to emerge from these latest investigations and scientific evidence that the whole body scanner billion-dollar contraptions can’t spot a reasonably well-hidden bomb and TSA is going to have a growing problem.

But at least they can see yours! 🙂

And the Border will be made safe from Global Warming Threats!

And those nasty old Russians, Chinese and North Koreans won’t have to worry about our big stick because we’ll emasculate ourselves for them! Isn’t that nice of us.

But at at least we’ll have openly gay people in the military.

After all, that’s what’s MORE IMPORTANT.

All Hail THE AGENDA!!

Woo Hoo! Doughnuts…

Political Cartoon

Woo-Hoo! The Democrats blinked. This time.

Half darn.

We get the pork laden Stimulus II, known as the “Tax Deal”. But we don’t get the 6,488 earmark pork laden Omnibus Bill.

So we get $1 trillion in spending instead of 2. Yipeee….

But I guess it’s a start.

But what is fun is the President went to mat for TAX “CUTS” for “The Rich”. How Bush of him. 🙂

And watching the Democrats rail against Deficit spending is a cynics wet dream of hilarity. Nothing on earth is this funny for a cynic like me.

And their sanctimony about the earmarks was just hilarious.

Obama is telling members of Congress that failure to pass the tax-cut legislation could result in the end of his presidency, Rep. Peter DeFazio (Ore.) said. (remember that from the health care cram down)

“The White House is putting on tremendous pressure, making phone calls, the president is making phone calls saying this is the end of his presidency if he doesn’t get this bad deal,” he told CNN’s Eliot Spitzer.

But the White House shot back late on Wednesday.

“The president hasn’t said anything remotely like that and has never spoken with Mr. DeFazio about the issue,” said White House spokesman Tommy Vietor.

Obama’s push shows that the president is going to the mat in order to push through Congress the compromise brokered with Republicans. (The Hill)

And the 111th Congress has the lowest approval rating since most of them were 60’s hippie radicals. Gallup reports it at 13%.

Even the super liberals over at CBS and The New York Times has it at 17%.

But it’s not like this Congress actually gave a crap about what anyone thought because the Agenda was The Agenda.

Political Cartoon

Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, DREAM Act, and START are much more important to Liberals. They are on The Agenda!

They just didn’t have the votes for the Omnibus Pork bill. Otherwise, Harry Reid was threatening to keep everyone through Christmas hostage until they passed their agenda (and still is because this was only 1 of the items).

“We have a constitutional duty to do congressionally directed spending and I don’t want to give up that responsibility,” Reid told reporters. “I can’t understand why some of our more conservative members here want to give up their power. I don’t understand that.”
So Harry believes that he has a Constitutional duty to pass Pork after Pork after Pork.
To bring home the Bacon.
It’s the Drug Dealer and Drug Addict in him rationalizing his Drug Use.
“But it was only a small amount”… “It’s no big deal”…
These guys needs a 1-step program: Just Say No!
They’ll have delirium tremens that will shake the earth out of orbit. But it would be worth it if we could pull it off.
But We the People who have been hooked on thi money by the Pusher Addicts in Washington also have to stop.

Sounds like the Democrats. Anyone for  rehab? 🙂

Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, agreed, though with a far less triumphant tone.

“Today’s maneuvers demonstrate that the House and Senate Republican leadership from here on out should be considered a wholly owned subsidiary of the Tea Party,” Manley said.

What’s wrong with that? The People are the Tea Party.

It’s better than the Democrats who are a wholly owned subsidiary of The Marxist Left.

Michelle Malkin: No matter how soothing the White House overtures to business leaders sounded this week, an inconvenient fact remains: Washington is gripped by crab-in-the-bucket syndrome. And there’s no cure in sight.

Put a single crab in an uncovered bucket, and it will find a way to climb up and out on its own. Put a dozen crabs in a bucket, and 11 will fight with all their might to pull down the striver who attempts escape. President Obama sought to reassure 20 CEOs that he wasn’t the king crab holding them down: “I want to dispel any notion we want to inhibit your success,” he cooed. “We want to be boosters because when you do well, America does well.”

Take it all with a huge grain of sea salt.

This is, after all, the same “booster” who in April mused openly about limits on profits, government determinations for what constitutes a “good” product or service, and the expectation that private businesses serve a collective need to goose Washington’s jobs numbers. “I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money,” the president said. “But, you know, part of the American way is, you know, you can just keep on making it if you’re providing a good product or providing good service. We don’t want people to stop, ah, fulfilling the core responsibilities of the financial system to help grow our economy.”

Our Founding Fathers had quite a different view of “the American way,” of course. In 1816, Thomas Jefferson wrote: “To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.”

But like a success inhibitor injected into the body politic, Obama’s policies have only served to suppress growth, punish ambition and discourage profit-maximizers. He has railed against “fat cats” on Wall Street while protecting his favored financial industry benefactors. He threatened to “kick” the “a**es” of oil industry executives while refusing to punish the scientific lies and distortions of his own job-killing environmental czars and bureaucrats. He inveighed against the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for collecting dues from international affiliates while ignoring the same practices among deep-pocketed unions. And he bemoaned tax relief for “millionaires and billionaires” that would actually benefit wealth-producing couples who annually earn more than $250,000 and individuals who earn $200,000 or more.

Most small-business owners will tell you they don’t want Obama “boosting” them. They just want him to get out of the way. But none of them was represented at his CEO shindig. Instead, among the business “leaders” the White House invited was billionaire Penny Pritzker — a Chicago crony, Democratic fundraiser/bundler and heiress whose family co-owned a failed subprime specialty bank.

While Obama, the olive-branch poseur, has called for a restoration of “civility” in Washington and liberal elites whine and whinny about the need for “no labels,” class-warfare demagoguery has metastasized unchecked.

Socialist Bernie Sanders took to the Senate floor to filibuster tax relief for all Americans last week in a ponderous, eight-and-a-half-hour harangue against “greed,” the “rich,” “richer” and “richest,” and “millionaires and billionaires” he had the audacity to liken to “bandits.” On the House side, N.Y. Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley attacked the GOP as the party of the wealthy and compared all people who earn more than $250,000 a year to the late convicted tax evader Leona Helmsley and her Maltese doggie heir.

The left wastes no opportunity to blame tea party and talk radio rhetoric for violent acts by lone nuts. But when a suspected serial arsonist (still on the loose) burns down expensive homes in an upscale Cape Cod neighborhood and spray-paints “f**k the rich” graffiti at the crime scenes, the “words-have-consequences” crowd is nowhere to be found. Such is the silence of the crabs.

The Silence of The Crabs… 🙂

It’s Good to be the King!

Political Cartoon

The Washington area’s affluence and education levels make it the wealthiest and most educated region in the nation, according to census data released Tuesday that reflect five years of relative prosperity compared with the rest of the country. (Washington Post)

Bureau of Labor Statistics: State and local government employers spent an average of $26.25 per hour worked for employee wages and salaries in September 2010, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.  Wages and salaries accounted for 65.5 percent of compensation costs while benefits averaged $13.85 per hour worked and accounted for the remaining 34.5 percent.

That’s $40.10 per hour for government employees. It’s good to be the kings minions.

Health benefit employer costs in September 2010 were $4.65 per hour worked for state and local government and $2.10 in private industry.  Defined benefit retirement plan costs for state and local government employers were $2.94 per hour worked, significantly higher than 44 cents for private industry employers.

Their health care costs are twice that of the private sector and retirement plans (aka the fat Union pensions most likely) are nearly 7 Times higher than the private sector.

No wonder they want bailouts and ObamaCare, we the little people’s costs have to be controlled so that we can afford to pay the King’s minions their due tribute.

Among state and local government employees, average hourly compensation costs were higher for management, professional, and related occupations ($48.73) than for service occupations ($30.17) and sales and office occupations ($27.87).

No wonder they want everyone else to pay for them and why so many states are going bankrupt.

And why so many unions are viciously protective of their Golden Goose Parachutes.

Now this is GREED. Real, honest to God, GREED.

And guess what, they are mostly DEMOCRATS!

Fascinating isn’t. 😦

So when the boo-hoo acts and whining and crying and nashing of teeth continues and government spending is cut (hopefully)  just remember who’s been the dragon hoarding all the Gold.

Your Government.

And especially, the Government Unions and Government employees which are almost exclusively, Democrats.

So is this the reason for the Class Warfare?

To pay for their lavish greed they have to wage war on Private Industry and YOU.

You get the privilege of paying for their Golden Goose.

And if you don’t want to, well, you’re just a nasty, evil scrooge-like greedy capitalist pig. You want to screw poor people!

Meanwhile, they are counting their $40.01 per hour.

So who’s the victim in this war. Certainly not the Warriors. 🙂

And the War Dead, well, you’re just a bunch of dumb, ignorant, hacks who want the Greed-addicted drug addicts to spend less on themselves.

How Dare you!

It’s good to be the King!

But sire, the peasants are revolting!

Yes, they stink on ice! 🙂

DREAM ACT Update

UCLA Professor Kent Wong (director of UCLA’s Center for Labor Research and Education) said: “We will win the dream act soon — very soon,” he exclaimed. “When that day comes, we will celebrate with millions and millions of people of people across this country who are standing with you tonight. Who stand for justice, who stand for democracy and equal opportunities for all.”

“When that day happens, the young people of the DREAM Act movement, will go on to accomplish and do great things with your lives,” he said. “You will go on to become lawyers, teachers, doctors and members of the US congress to replace those old white men… You are the hope and future of this country. You are hope and future of your generation.”

So there you have it, the DREAM Act is to  “replace” white people (with Hispanic Democrats mind you).

But that’s not racist, because a radical leftist said it, mind you. 🙂

Just like, cutting government spending will hurt the poor.

Orwell would be proud of you, my leftist sons.

All I Want For Christmas is My 6,488 Earmarks!

The Democrats have decided what they want for Christmas. Your front teeth and everything else you and the next several generations own.

They have stuffed their own stockings full of joy (for them).

They want to go out on a drug induced high.

They don’t care if Santa thinks they’ve been naughty.

THE LAST FEAST: 6,488 EARMARKS

$575.13 million per page

Political Cartoon

Senate Democrats have filed a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill that would fund the government through fiscal year 2011, according to Senate GOP sources.

Then there’s the DREAM ACT, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, etc. They are vastly more important than the debt or deficit!

And if we don’t get them, we’ll stay here until January 5th and hold our breath and turn blue until you kiss our buts!

The package drew a swift rebuke from Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee.

“The attempt by Democrat leadership to rush through a nearly 2,000-page spending bill in the final days of the lame-duck session ignores the clear will expressed by the voters this past election,” Thune said in a statement. “This bill is loaded up with pork projects and should not get a vote. Congress should listen to the American people and stop this reckless spending.

The Senate bill, though, boosts spending by $16 billion.

“We’re not through. Congress ends on Jan. 4,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat.

So we’ll keep you HOSTAGE until the very last second to pass our Agenda or else!

We are going to squeeze you and everyone else to the last possible second to get our Ideological Obsessions done whether you like it or not.

Screw the Elections! F*ck the Voters! Sh*t on going quietly into the night! Up Yours! 🙂

We want what we want and when we want it and we don’t give a crap about anything else!

Up Yours!

We love earmarked-to-your-death 2,000 page bills!

“Mr. President, at 12:15 p.m. this afternoon, my office received a copy of the omnibus appropriations bill. It is 1,924 pages long and contains the funding for all 12 of the annual appropriations bills for a grand total of over $1.1 Trillion. It is important to note that the 1,924 pages is only the legislative language and does not include the thousands of pages of report language which contain the details of the billions of dollars in earmarks and, I’m sure, countless policy riders.

“While we continue to uncover which earmarks the appropriators decided to fund – thanks to a new online database – we at least know what earmarks were requested by Members and how much those projects would cost the American people if they were all funded. Taxpayers against Earmarks, http://www.washingtonwatch.com and Taxpayers for Common Sense joined forces to create this database. According to the data they compiled – for fiscal year 2011 Members requested over 39,000 earmarks totaling over $130 billion. Absolutely disgraceful. I encourage every American to go to the website http://www.endingspending.com study it, and make yourselves aware of how your elected officials seek to spend your money.

“In the short time I’ve had to review this massive piece of legislation – I’ve identified approximately 6,488 earmarks totaling nearly $8.3 billion. Here is a small sample:

$277,000 for potato pest management in Wisconsin
$246,000 for bovine tuberculosis in Michigan and Minnesota
$522,000 for cranberry and blueberry disease and breeding in New Jersey
$500,000 for oyster safety in Florida
$349,000 for swine waste management in North Carolina
$413,000 for peanut research in Alabama
$247,000 for virus free wine grapes in Washington
$208,000 beaver management in North Carolina
$94,000 for blackbird management in Louisiana
$165,000 for maple syrup research in Vermont
$235,000 for noxious weed management in Nevada
$100,000 for the Edgar Allen Poe Cottage Visitor’s Center in New York
$300,000 for the Polynesian Voyaging Society in Hawaii
$400,000 for solar parking canopies and plug-in electric stations in Kansas

“Additionally, the bill earmarks $727,000 to compensate ranchers in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan whenever endangered wolves eat their cattle. As my colleagues know, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Gray Wolf program is under intense scrutiny for wasting millions of taxpayer dollars every year to ‘recover’ endangered wolves that are now overpopulating the West and Midwest. My State of Arizona has a similar wolf program but ranchers in my state aren’t getting $727,000 in this bill.

“Mr. President, I will have much more to say about this bill later this week. I assure my colleagues – we will spend a great deal of time talking about this bill and the outrageous number of earmarks it contains. But for now let me just say this: it is December 14th – we are 22 days away from the beginning of a new Congress and nearly three full months into fiscal year 2011 – and yet we have not debated a single spending bill or considered any amendments to cut costs or get our debt under control. Furthermore, the majority decided that they just didn’t feel like doing a budget this year. How is that responsible leadership?

“This is the ninth omnibus appropriations bill we have considered in this body since 2000. That is shameful and we should be embarrassed by the fact that we care so little about doing the people’s business that we continuously put off fulfilling our constitutional responsibilities until the very last minute.

“One thing is abundantly clear to me – that the majority has not learned the lessons of last month’s election. The American people could not have been more clear. They are tired of wasteful spending. They are tired of big government. They are tired of sweetheart deals for special interests. They are tired of business as usual in Washington. And they are tired of massive bills – just like this one – put together behind closed doors, and rammed through the Congress at the last moment so that no one has the opportunity to read them and no one really knows what kind of waste is in them.

“Let me be clear about one thing – if the Majority Leader insists on proceeding to this monstrosity – the American people will know what’s in it. I will be joined by many of my colleagues on this side of the aisle to ensure that every single word of this bill is read aloud here on the Senate floor.

“I encourage my friends on the other side of the aisle to rethink their strategy and move forward with a short-term continuing resolution to fund the government into next year when a new Congress takes over – a Congress that was elected by the American people on November 2nd. “The majority may be able to strong arm enough members into voting for this omnibus – but they will not win in the end. The American people will remember – and I predict that we will see a repeat of November 2nd in the very near future.” (Sen. John McCain)

OBAMACARE UPDATE

The newest defense of the Health Care Mandate: Auto Insurance!

They are not even remotely the same thing.

I wrote a blog about this 15 months ago when they trotted this crap out the last time: https://indyfromaz.wordpress.com/2009/10/01/the-bad-analogy/

But let me just hit you with Point#1 that blows the whole argument to pieces in seconds:

If you don’t have a car, you don’t need or are required by law to have auto insurance!

Just try that under Obama’s Health Care. You’ll be hearing the jackboots of the IRS stomping on your face very soon…

Q.E.D. 🙂

And these are supposed to be bright people?

They are, but their Ideology is so far up their arse that it has throttled their brainpower.

And they don’t care, because they are vastly superior to you!

Pelosi’s Last Stand

Political Cartoon by Eric Allie

The House, under Queen Pelosi, continues with it symbolic Lame Duck Poison and Show.

They passed the soak the rich “middle class tax cut” (which wasn’t actually a cut) TWICE but they failed miserably in the Senate.

But it made their base happy. Especially, since they are so mad at the Heresy committed by their God, Obama. Who, even he, called Republicans “terrorists” and “hostage takers”.

The rhetoric hasn’t changed.

Now comes Amnesty in the middle of the night.

Less than 24 hours after the House carved out a path to legalization for hundreds of thousands of foreign-born youngsters brought to this country illegally, their hopes of legal status are likely to be dashed in the Senate.

Democrats face an uphill climb to gather the 60 votes needed in a vote expected Thursday to advance the so-called Dream Act over opposition by most Republicans and a handful of their own members.

The House passed the legislation Wednesday night after Democratic leaders painstakingly lined up the votes to push it through.

You don’t want to be mean to kids who were brought here by their illegal parents now do you? You meanie!! 😦

YES

Ever heard of the Sins of the Father are visited upon the Sons? (or daughters)?

Their Parents are still illegal. They are still illegal.

And do you really think that if the Democrats get their foot in the door they won’t take your whole legs off and then go for the jugular?

Really?

NO.

But a lot of this is symbolic and just red meat to their base. See we kept our promises. Sure we waited until the very last minute when it was far too late to actually pass it into law but we tried. And you have to gives us props for the media show. You see we care…

That’s kind of like General Custer at Little Big Horn as he’s dying saying, yeah I lost But I won the battle of symbolism!!

Obama Wimps Out

I guess it’s time to have the government pay me for 3 years to not work and then there’s, Welfare and food stamps and mortgage assistance.

So as long as I have no self-respect I can live off all you suckers for 3 years and expecting the government to cut me off, heh, yeah that’s likely. 🙂

And besides, the Democrats think that unemployment stimulates the economy so wouldn’t I be doing the economy more good that all this 40-hour work week grind? 🙂

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

Why are so many jobs going begging when so many Americans are begging for jobs? Because many don’t have to take them — thanks in part to 99 weeks and counting of unemployment benefits.

Add to that record food stamp payments and other welfare, and the unemployed have been perversely incentivized to keep holding out for better jobs, rather than take less-than-desirable or lower-paying ones. Until their benefits start running out, many long-term unemployed are in no rush to take another job. They can pass on offers requiring long commutes or relocation.

The latest job vacancy numbers bear this out.

At the end of October, there were 3.4 million job openings — a 12% increase from September and a 32% jump from a year earlier.

Since the recession’s end in July 2009, openings have soared 44%. This defies previous post-recession trends. Normally the job vacancy rate goes down after a recession, as the job market stabilizes. But millions of jobs are going unfilled now — especially in heavily unionized industries, such as manufacturing, education and health care.

Since President Obama’s stimulus extended federal jobless benefits, and bribed states to do the same, the median duration of unemployment has nearly tripled, hitting 26 weeks this summer.

Fully a third of full-time workers have been unemployed for 52 weeks or more, while 47% of jobless Americans have been out of work for at least 27 weeks — the highest since the government began keeping records in the 1940s.

Studies show extending jobless benefits — which now pay people 50% to 60% of their previous wage to stay home for two years — just ends up subsidizing more unemployment.

“When you subsidize something, you get more of it,” Cato Institute economist Alan Reynolds observes.

Bruce Meyer of the University of Chicago and Lawrence Katz of Harvard found that “a one-week increase in potential benefit duration increases the average duration of the unemployment spells by 0.16 to 0.20 weeks.”

This flies in the face of White House claims. In urging Congress to extend jobless benefits another 13 months, it argues they help stimulate the economy and that without them, the unemployment picture would darken.

About 2 million unemployed workers will run out of benefits this month if they’re not renewed. The White House figures 7 million will be affected if payments aren’t extended for a year.

If the administration gets its way, the so-called “99ers” will become 155ers and keep the nation’s high jobless rate artificially elevated. Studies show longer unemployment translates to higher unemployment. University of Chicago economist Robert Shimer estimates that generous jobless benefits alone account for as much as 1.5 points of our 9.8% jobless rate.

“The relatively small numbers of newly unemployed are added to stubbornly large numbers of those who lost their jobs more than six months ago,” says Reynolds.

Washington ought to learn from Sweden, one of the few European nations to lower unemployment. After suffering chronically high joblessness in the 1990s, it cut the duration for its generous jobless benefits — and watched as the jobless rate plunged.

If our own unemployment remains elevated, it’s because Democrats at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue insisted on extending unemployment and welfare benefits. (IBD)

Well, since the government wants to take my money I might as well get a return on the investment…
And after all, we work for them, don’t we… 🙂

Sheriff Sis Rides into Town

Imagine that. The Obama administration and Big Sis just stepping in and seizing businesses just because they want to, not from anything like due process. No, they are above that. They haven’t even had Congress pass the law yet and they are already doing it.  It’s their moral duty. 🙂

Imagine that… the Obama administration seizing something… 🙂

Hey, Sis, how about the Border?

Whoops! Politically incorrect. Sorry…Too busy trying to shove Amnesty down again…

How about foreign terrorists? Whoops!…can’t! No Profiling!

The investigative arm of the Homeland Security Department appears to be shutting down websites that facilitate copyright infringement.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seized dozens of domain names over the past few days, according to TorrentFreak.

ICE appears to be targeting sites that help Internet users download copyrighted music, as well as sites that sell bootleg goods, such as fake designer handbags.

The sites are replaced with a note from the government: “This domain named has been seized by ICE, Homeland Security Investigations.”

For instance, borntrade.com, 51607.com, and amoyhy.com have each been seized.

One of the site owners told TorrentFreak that his site was shut down without any notice or warning.

The effort comes as Congress considers the Combatting Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA). Critics, including Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) say it is too heavy-handed. He has vowed to put a formal hold on the bill.

Bill, who needs a Bill…Not Progressives on a mission to save you from the evils of the Internet. Nexzt stop, those evil bastards at FOX News.

Meanwhile, the border violence gets worse and worse and the criminals more brazen, but who cares! We’re been saved from the internet by Big Sis!!

You may not have a job. You may be on the verge of starvation or bankruptcy but damn if you still have your internet connection Sheriff Sis is in town and she going to clean up the poop!!

Rejoice Citizen!

Ninety-six pioneering Internet engineers have signed an open letter calling COICA a dangerous, unsound measure that would “risk fragmenting the Internet’s global domain name system.”(WP)

Congress screw up something that isn’t screwed up for their own political gain, gee, that never happens!

The very liberal Huffington Post: An entire generation has grown up having to battle their impressions of ownership they get from interests like industry associations they perceive as nefarious entities and the common sense notion that people should get compensated for what they create. In a generation of so many artists and entrepreneurs, the value of ownership is still strong. Yet, the disillusion with interests that bully their way through Congress and the courts is stronger. In the case of COICA, Congress shouldn’t burn the house to roast the pig. There is too much to lose.

And the Old Sheriff still wants to pass their own pet projects before leaving town.

Hugh Hewitt: A liberal friend of mine sent out an email this past week urging all of the recipients to urge their Representative and Senator to push for the passage of the Dream Act when Congress reconvenes next week.

I wrote back that such a result would be a disaster for the cause of real immigration reform, no matter what the short-term benefits he imagined flowing from the act. Anyone who wants a comprehensive solution to the problem of illegal immigration, one that begins with the completion of the fence and moves on to regularization of the millions of illegal aliens in the country, cannot hope for a jam down of the Dream Act through a discredited Congress.

Similarly, no proponent of a policy allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military should be cheering a quick vote on Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell in the next few weeks. Nor should any champion of campaign finance reform urge a vote on the Disclose Act.

In short, no serious proponent of representative government ought to be urging that the sweeping message of November 2 be ignored just so their particular special interest can garner a last-minute “win” in a lame duck Congress.

That lame duck session could and should pass a short term spending measure to allow for the operation of the government through, say, the end of February.

And it would be consistent with the mandate the GOP received at the polls to extend the Bush tax cuts until such time as Congress affirmatively votes to raise them.

But nothing should issue from this lame duck meeting of a discredited and repudiated Congress that in effect nullifies the vote on November 2.

“I won,” President Obama bluntly told GOP leaders at a White House gathering shortly after his inauguration in 2009. Though he might well have been much better served by some humility as well as some of the bipartisanship he campaigned on, the president was simply stating that elections have consequences. He received the powers of his office from the people, and he used them.

But this failed Congress ought not to be legislating as though nothing happened, or as though the people affirmed the recklessness of the past two years. The vote was a national knock-out of the left’s beliefs and program, a complete and utter denunciation of the tax-and-spend policies of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and to ignore that verdict is to strike at the very core of the country’s social compact: Voters are sovereign.

The temptation is great to try and use the last few hours of power to reward political friends and punish political opponents, but the cost is so high that even the most dogmatic liberal ought to refuse the temptation.

There are 23 Democratic senate seats on the ballot in November 2012. Any of those 23 who vote for any of the left’s last-minute agenda, or even for cloture on the bills, are telling their voters that those voters’ don’t matter to those senators. Ohio’s Sherrod Brown, for example, just witnessed a wave of red wash across the Buckeye State. If Brown participates in an anti-democratic jam down in December 0f 2010, that will be all that Ohio’s voters need to know between now and November, 2012 –that Sherrod Brown has contempt for them and their votes.

What Brown and many other Senate Democrats need right now is a does of well-deserved humility as to what they know and don’t know about the country. They completely misjudged the public’s appetite for spending and Obamacare. If they continue to refuse to listen, their countdown to retirement will have certainly begun.

The votes of these 23 over the next three weeks will define many races for 2012. No senator hoping to remain seated in January 2013 will ignore the results of November, 2010.

But since they are so morally superior and it’s for the best that they get in as much of THE AGENDA in before the barbarian hordes take over that they are compelled to do so.

<<Barf bag on standby>>

Oh, and by the way: IN VERACRUZ, MEXICO Exploiting loopholes in the global economy, Mexican crime syndicates are importing mass quantities of the cold medicines and common chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine – turning Mexico into the No. 1 source for all meth sold in the United States, law enforcement agents say.

After several years of declining production, the 2010 threat assessment by the Justice Department’s National Drug Intelligence Center said Mexico was again “the primary source of methamphetamine consumed in the United States.” A companion report was not released for fear of embarrassing Mexican President Felipe Calderon on the eve of his trip to Washington in May. (WP)

But don’t worry, Sheriff Big Sis and her posse are on it. 🙂  Internet Scum!

And Big Brother Barack has the North Koreans in a TSA hold. 🙂

Rejoice Citizen.
