Defining a Moment

Political Cartoons by Michael Ramirez

Recovery Summer III:

David Axelrod 2010: David Axelrod, a senior adviser to the president, said: “This summer will be the most active Recovery Act season yet, with thousands of highly-visible road, bridge, water and other infrastructure projects breaking ground across the country, giving the American people a first-hand look at the RecoveryAct in their own backyards and making it crystal clear what the cost would have been of doing nothing.”

“In the face of the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression, Republicans in Congress chose to play politics with economic recovery and declared the Recovery Act a failure before it even began. They made a cynical bet that if the President fails, they win. Democrats chose to act by tackling the crisis head-on. Just over a year later, the Recovery Act is putting millions of Americans to work and helping the economy grow again. But our work is far from over:”

David Axelrod 2012 with Chris Wallace: Wallace: Didn’t this White House badly misjudge this recovery? I remember in 2010, two summers ago, you and Vice President Biden were running around talking about ‘Recovery Summer.’ That was the summer of 2010 and the fact is the White House said if you got the stimulus, the $800 billion that unemployment would stay under 8%. In fact, with the stimulus, unemployment has stayed over 8% for the last 42 months. That’s three and a half years.

Axelrod: Chris, first of all, I wasn’t running around saying anything other than that we were going to have to be persistent. That it took years to get in this mess, it was going to take years to get out —

Wallace: You talking about ‘Recovery Summer’ in 2010, sir.

Axelrod: Well you should show me the tape of me saying that. I’ve been very consistent about the fact that we need to be very persistent in our efforts here.

See Above. 🙂

Now doesn’t that just a lot about Obama and his cronies lies, distortions and need to constant revise history to make it look like they are better and Bush was worse than is actually true?

Tell a Lie often enough and it becomes the Truth.

In other words, let’s talk about what the definition of is, is.(Katie Pavlich)

🙂

After all, Obama has been decrying Super PACs, while using them. Liberals decry the Citizens United decision, then use corporations as people donors for cash.

Want to know if a Liberal is a two-faced bold-face lying hypocrite?

Are they breathing?

Then then they are.

“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the — if he — if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not — that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement. … Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true.”–President Clinton 1998.

“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.”–President Obama

If you thought our president was saying that if you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that, then you heard wrong. All he was saying was that somebody else made that happen — that you, Mr. Businessman, or Ms. Businesswoman, owe your success not to your own hard work or talent, or just plain luck and God’s help, but to somebody else — the rest of us, the Great Collective, or just those roads and bridges government built. Which is what the president meant by “that.”

Oh.

But who in real life talks like that, referring to roads and bridges not as those but that? The president of the United States, apparently.

It’s enough to make us miss plain English. And not for the first time. What ever happened to the plain meaning of words, to the way people, not politicians, talk?

Remember the days when you didn’t need an interpreter to understand what a president of the United States was saying? But that was ages ago, that is, before this year’s endless presidential campaign began.

Now the country has a president who has to keep explaining, or rather not explaining, what he said about American businessmen not creating their own businesses. That’s his story and he’s sticking to it, despite the plain meaning of words.

. .

Let’s not even go into this president’s highly debatable version of who created the Internet and why, namely: Government invented it so American companies could make money off it.

Who knew?

Yes, there was a forerunner of the Internet designed largely for military purposes called ARPAnet, and it originated with the government’s Advanced Research Projects Agency, but it was developed by a private company, BBN Technologies, its hardware was designed by Honeywell, and AT&T set up the phone lines. And a number of think tanks and universities played supporting roles in that cast of thousands. If all the credits were rolled, there would be enough of them for a Hollywood blockbuster.

All in all, Mr. President, it wasn’t quite as simple as “Government research created the Internet so that all companies could make money off the Internet.”

Indeed, far from being designed for commercial purposes, ARPAnet was declared off-limits for private use. As late as 1982, a handbook on computing put out by MIT warned students:

“It is considered illegal to use the ARPAnet for anything which is not in direct support of government business. . . . Sending electronic mail over the ARPAnet for commercial profit or political purposes is both anti-social and illegal. By sending such messages, you can offend many people, and it is possible to get MIT in serious trouble with the government agencies which manage the ARPAnet.”

So much for government’s having invented the Internet to help American businesses make money off it.

Not that the private sector couldn’t be just as blind to the Internet’s potential. Xerox was so obsessed with making copiers in the 1970s, it couldn’t be bothered with developing the Internet — or inventing the personal computer, for that matter. All that would be left to Steve Jobs at Apple. Are we supposed to believe he didn’t build that company, that somebody else did? That it was built by all those roads and bridges?

Who knew?

This president needs a fact-checker, or at least a good copyeditor, hard as both are to come by.

. .

A wise president, or just a wise man, having been caught in so gross a misstatement, would simply say he was sorry, or maybe “No excuse,” as we were taught to say in the service after we’d screwed up royally. Then the air would be cleared, and the whole mess put behind us. Confession is good not just for the soul, but for peace of mind. What would it cost, a little false pride? And it would be more than compensated for by a healthy measure of self-respect.

Here’s a tip from an old editor: Run a correction and be done with it!

Instead, by trying to “explain” what he said, or didn’t say, our president has only prolonged this controversy and his own verbal ordeal. And he’s also entrenched the phrase, “You didn’t build that,” in American memories. Much like “It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.” (Paul Greenberg)

I guess was all THAT. 🙂

Updates

Tucson Update: “Unfortunately, our local school board cowered to the political pressure and the racism of our state Legislature, superintendent of schools and attorney general,” said Sean Arce, the program’s director.
Miguel Cuevas, a school board member who joined the 4-1 majority voting to suspend the classes, was asked at Tuesday’s meeting how he could consider himself Latino. Another person in the crowd called the board majority members cowards.
On Wednesday, Cuevas said he expected that reaction, but the school district simply could not afford to lose the state money.
“A good portion of the criticism is because I am Latino,” he said. “But I am here to serve all students.”

At Tuesday’s meeting, Salomon Baldenegro, a Latino community leader, said to the board, “I came here to ask you here to appeal Huppenthal’s decision.”

Baldenegro said the lawmakers who crafted Senate Bill 1070 had criminalized race, adding, “Now they are criminalizing our history.”

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Does it again: “but…” 🙂

David Axelrod, chief political strategist for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign and former White House political adviser, defended Jeremiah Wright on Tuesday evening in a speech in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Axelrod described the initial news reports in 2008 on Obama’s long-time family pastor and mentor as “ninety seconds of vitriol plucked from thirty years of sermons by some enterprising opposition researcher.”

This from the Tea Party “domestic terrorist” crowd. Or the slipped word “gotcha!” crowd.

But you have to remember the Left has no standards for themselves only what you can’t say about them. So they can say any old crazy sh*t and it’s ok. But if you say anything that could be childishly exploited by the Left it will blown up into the Mountain of a Mole Hill you can imagine and then some.

They destroyed Herman Cain with “allegations” that to this day remain unproven and were never going to be proven.

But you produce hours of hate from Jeremiah Wright (Obama’s Pastor for 20 years) and  means nothing, less than nothing to them. And you should be ashamed of yourself for being so racist, and uncivil.

It’s the way the Left works.

So anti-Semitic is the Reverend Wright that Simon Wiesenthal Center included him in its top ten anti-Semitic slurs of 2011.

“The state of Israel is an illegal, genocidal … place,” he told an audience in Baltimore in June of last year. “To equate Judaism with the state of Israel is to equate Christianity with [rapper] Flavor Flav.”

Wright’s solution is the sort of anti-racial harmony we’ve come to expect: “We need to help African-Americans see they are just Africans born in another country.” (big government.com)

Or Mexicans born in another country?? 🙂

When Will it Bottom Out?

November 3rd. At least for the advertising. Then comes the barrels of Lame Duck Poison that have been stored up for just such an occasion.

I speak, of course, of the Democrats.

Remember, I said that since they believe in the ends justify the means and thus have no ethical or moral compass because they will say anything to avert as much of the landslide to come as possible and make sure everyone knows the consequences of crossing them.

Well, here’s some more proof. The following ad was created by The Democrat Party itself.

It stars their favorite boogieman, Karl Rove. The architect of Satan himself, George W. Bush.

And the US Chamber of Commerce, which has been critical of Obama and the Democrats and didn’t sign on to the Health Care debacle. So they are enemies of the State.

So you are supposed to vote for Democrats this November to stop Karl Rove.

No other reason.

Yes, they think you are that stupid.

Check out this new ad from the Democratic National Committee. I am sure we are nowhere near touching bottom on the level to which these attack ads will sink by Nov.2, but this is a new low so far into the midterm battle.

Here is what’s so appalling to me: The ad makes the totally unsubstantiated charge that the Chamber of Commerce is taking money from foreign interests and using it to “steal our democracy.” And worse, President Obama is out on the campaign trail, according to the New York Times, creating an echo chamber by making the same reckless claims just as the ad hits the airwaves. And when CBS newsman Bob Schieffer Sunday asks David Axelrod if there is any proof for the claim, the senior Obama aide says they don’t need proof — it’s up to the Chamber of Commerce to prove it isn’t true.

CBS host Bob Schieffer asked Axelrod to provide evidence that the chamber was using foreign money. “Do you have any evidence it’s not, Bob?” Mr. Axelrod responded.  He added, echoing Obama’s comments again: “That is a threat to our democracy.”

Now that’s hard-hitting journalism for you!

The Democratic National Commitee is using the same sort of tactic and logic that Sen. Joe McCarthy used in the 1950s: Level a headline-grabbing and unsubstantiated charge, like the State Department is filled with communists, and then say it is up to the State Department and the employees so charged to prove it is not true.

So much for hope and change; this is the politics of fear, slander and divisiveness on the eve of an election that looks as if it could deliver a damning verdict on the first two years of the Obama administration.

What it said: “Karl Rove, Ed Gillespie: They’re Bush cronies. The US Chamber of Commerce: They’re shills for big business,” the ad goes. “And they’re stealing our democracy. Spending Millions from secret donors to elect Republicans to do their bidding in Congress. It appears they’re even taking secret foreign money to influence our elections. It’s incredible, Republicans benefiting from secret foreign money. Tell the Bush Crowd and the Chamber of Commerce – stop stealing our democracy.”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hvm0cWgHp6A&feature=player_embedded

What do you think of the mugging in the parking garage? Is this not a direct appeal to fear?

And it’s STILL BUSH they are running against! In 2010! It’s still Bush’s Fault.

Gee, for a guy they considered a moron and/or a monkey he sure gets around 21 months after leaving office and saying not a word since. 🙂

“You can’t let it happen,” Mr. Obama told thousands of supporters gathered at a school park in a predominantly African-American, working-class neighborhood in northern Philadelphia. “Don’t let them hijack your agenda. The American people deserve to know who’s trying to sway their elections, and you can’t stand by and let the special interests drown out the voices of the American people.”

You mean like the Unions funneling bailout money back to the DNC? Or George Soros, Billionaire Socialist?

You mean the “fat cats” on Wall Street who ARE Liberals (like CitiGroup) that you selectively bailed out and who support you?

No, I don’t suppose you do.

“You don’t know,” he said here. “It could be the oil industry, it could be the insurance industry, it could even be foreign-owned corporations. You don’t know because they don’t have to disclose. Now that’s not just a threat to Democrats, that’s a threat to our democracy.”-President Obama

There coming to get you, Barbara!  (Night of the Living Dead)

OOOhhh, shadowy boogiemen are coming to steal your children!

Freddie, The Nightmare Republican is coming the tear you to pieces!!

Beware!

But mind you, Democrats don’t play on people’s fears! They say so all the time.

The Republican Party has become a party of hate. Rather than appealing to its followers’ desires for a stable economy, a better education system or similarly productive issues, Republican politicians are wasting time and money on catering to voters’ irrational feelings of hate and fear for people who are different. This tactic not only forces others to side with the conservatives or risk seeming un-American to brainwashed and unhappy voters, but is also a catastrophic waste of resources. (Blogger -The Daily Cougar)

Fox News helps spread lies, then criticizes over-reaction 2 them (one blogger put it).

“They all can, of course, clear all this up by releasing their donors,” said DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse. “We just think that it is vital that the American people know that this election is on the verge of being stolen by secret donors, anonymous special interests, and possibly foreign corporations. And these folks aren’t lurking in the shadows refusing to reveal themselves and their intentions and interests because they have the greater good in mind. It’s because they want to get their fingers back in the till and exert the influence they had when Republicans were last in charge.” (Huffington Post)

Mind you, when this same charge was leveled at Ground Zero Mosque backers you were called Islamophobic.

Since the Supreme Court’s January decision in Citizens United v. FEC, Democrats in Congress have been trying to pass legislation to repeal the First Amendment for business, though not for unions. Having failed on that score, they’re now turning to legal and political threats. Funny how all of this outrage never surfaced when the likes of Peter Lewis of Progressive Insurance and George Soros helped to make Democrats financially dominant in 2006 and 2008.

Chairman Max Baucus of the powerful Senate Finance Committee got the threats going last month when he asked Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Douglas Shulman to investigate if certain tax exempt 501(c) groups had violated the law by engaging in too much political campaign activity. Lest there be any confusion about his targets, the Montana Democrat flagged articles focused on GOP-leaning groups, including Americans for Job Security and American Crossroads.

“groups that receive foreign money are spending huge sums to influence American elections.” Within hours of the ThinkProgress report, the bully boys at MoveOn.org asked the Department of Justice to launch a criminal investigation of the Chamber.

Liberals want the names of business donors made public so they can become targets of vilification with the goal of intimidating them into silence. A CEO or corporate board is likely to think twice about contributing to a campaign fund if the IRS or prosecutors might come calling.

The outrage over the Chamber is especially amusing considering the role of foreigners in U.S. labor unions. According to the Center for Competitive Politics, close to half of the unions that are members of the AFL-CIO are international. One man’s corporate commingling is another’s union dues.

Then there’s the curious reference to the tax status of Koch Industries by White House chief economist Austan Goolsbee. In a late August conference call with reporters, Mr. Goolsbee cited the closely-held Koch as an example of “really giant firms” that pay no corporate income tax because they file under other tax rules. But how in the world would Mr. Goolsbee know Koch’s tax status? Could his knowledge be related to the White House-liberal campaign against Koch for contributing to Americans for Prosperity, a group that is supporting free-market candidates for Congress this year?

In an August 9 speech, Mr. Obama personally trashed Americans for Prosperity, hinting that it was funded by “a big oil company.” He had to mean Koch, which makes no secret of its support for Americans for Prosperity. (WSJ)

So you have fear, slander, intimidation and lies.

And if that doesn’t work, just call them a racist!

Now, that’s Hope & Change for you! 🙂

Doesn’t that just make you want to vote for more of the same and vote for a Democrat? 🙂

And when are the Democrats going to be transparent about who’s funding them?

Just to be “fair”. 🙂

Is that Hell I hear Freezing over?? Yes, I do believe it is. Encased in several tons of mud and sprinkled liberally with Lame Duck Poison. 🙂

How Green(e) is My Politics

Alvin Greene, a 13 year veteran of the military won 59% of the vote in the South Carolina democratic primary for the u.s. senate last week. Greene, despite having spent less than 2 thousand dollars on his campaign handily won the primary.

One would think that the Dems would be excited that a black guy with a very limited budget beat out a white guy with loads of campaign money and could be the first african american senator from the southern US  since reconstruction.

But people, including representative James Clyburn (D-SC), House Whip in Congress is demanding an investigation. He and other members of the Democratic party have asked Alvin Greene to pull out of the race.

Some also think he’s a plant by the Republicans. 🙂

“Alvin Greene is pretending to be an idiot,” Creighton (of far left Flamethrower website Firedoglake) writes, noting that Greene holds a college degree and worked as an intelligence specialist in the US military. “He is doing it because someone doesn’t want a strong populist democrat like Vic Rawl running against Jim DeMint in South Carolina for his seat in the United States Senate.”

Isn’t politics just fun. 🙂

“There were some real shenanigans going on in the South Carolina primary,” Clyburn said on the Bill Press radio show, according to The Hill. “I don’t know if [Greene] was a Republican plant; he was someone’s plant.” Clyburn is particularly suspicious that Greene could come up with the $10,400 needed to register for the race despite being unemployed.

A spokesman for Sen. Jim DeMint, Greene’s opponent in the general election, said the charge that the Democratic nominee is a Republican plant is “ridiculous.”
Whomever the Democrats nominated was not likely to win against the very popular DeMint anyhow.

Super leftist Ezra Klein of the Washington Post though, put it this way: There’s been a lot of talk about what sort of trickery and skullduggery and inanity could’ve produced Alvin Greene’s win in South Carolina. But after reading all of it, I’m coming down on the side of Dave Weigel: Maybe the guy just, you know, won.

So why all the outrage? All the conspiracy theories?

Could it be they want to create a crisis, so they can exploit it?

Get the sleepy, apathetic, South Carolina Democrats whipped up?

They want to know where he got the $10,400 to be put on the ballot.

They are more obsessed with this than the $4 Trillion in worthless spending they’ve already done nationally.

It’s like focusing on 1 tree while the whole forest burns down!

But they miss the fact that 100,000 people voted for this guy. Regardless of whether he was “a plant” and “someone” seeded him the money, he still got the votes.

Oh, right, because this was an open primary it was a Republican hit-job… 😦

When asked by NBC’s David Gregory on Sunday if Greene’s election was legitimate, senior White House adviser David Axelrod said, “It doesn’t appear so to me. It was a mysterious deal.”

Axelrod said: “The whole thing is odd. I don’t really know how to explain it and I don’t think anybody else does either. … How [Greene] won the primary is a big mystery, and until you resolve that I don’t think he can claim to be a strong, credible candidate.”

But they are still stuck with an unemployed, no experience candidate with a pending felony trial.

I don’t know about you, but that sounds like the perfect Democrat to me. 🙂

So what is really the troubling factor here is the Democrats attitude that the guy they put up, a former legislator named Vic Rawl, who spend virtually no money either but had the blessing of the establishment, didn’t win so it must be a trick.

The voting machines were rigged, they say. “Hanging Chads” anyone?

Some want the primary results thrown out.

They didn’t get their man.

That’s the really troubling part.

And these are the same Democrats who will, even after 10 years, go ranting off into left field about how the Republicans stole the election in 2000 from Al Gore.

They didn’t get their man.

Does this sound like a free and fair, democratic election ethic or a party apparatchik put-up job?

The Party wants whom the party wants. And the people are just sheep who are supposed to vote the way the party wants them too and if they don’t it must therefore be FRAUD! 🙂

And if the party doesn’t get what it wants it will simply erase it and start over again until you do what the party wants.

Very scary.

But does it sound familiar?

Health Care reform anyone? Bailouts? TARP? Stimulus? Cap and Trade!

The majority of Americans were vehemently against the Health Care bill, but the Democrats wanted their Holy Grail no matter what and they got what they wanted by any means necessary.

And now it’s Energy.

Cap and Trade, which stalled out for lack of support is now re-energized by the Oil Spill.

“The tragedy unfolding on our coast is the most painful and powerful reminder yet that the time to embrace a clean energy future is now,” he said. “I say we can’t afford not to change how we produce and use energy – because the long-term costs to our economy, our national security, and our environment are far greater.” –President Obama, last night.

Never waste a Crisis!

Overly Expensive, inefficient, but politically correct,Green Tech or Bust.

One problem, the nation, and the world run on Oil.

So they need to make Oil unattractive, both politically and economically.

Enter Cap and Trade.

Mind you, the rest of the world is going to do anything, but take advantage of the weak, stupid Americans.

And 10’s of thousands of good jobs will evaporate.

Earlier this month, the president ordered a six month ban on exploratory deepwater drilling – a move some experts predict will pour salt into the wounds of the already injured region.

The moratorium could lead to massive job losses in Louisiana, which relies on drilling to support its economy, Louisiana State University Economist James Richardson said.

“The moratorium could be more devastating than the leak, because more people are employed by the oil industry than the fishing industry,” he said.

The moratorium could cost the state more than 20,000 jobs by the end of the year, according to the Louisiana Department of Economic Development. The Department estimates for every one employee working on a rig, nine employees onshore are working to support that rig.

“During one of the most challenging economic periods in decades, the last thing we need is to enact public policies that will certainly destroy thousands of existing jobs while preventing the creation of thousands more,” Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said in a letter to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

Broken down by industry, the Louisiana Department of Economic Development estimates fishing and tourism contributes $10 billion to the Louisiana economy, while energy contributes $65 billion.

Following the moratorium, Anadarko Petroleum announced its intention to move three rigs out of the Gulf.

And when the taxes from this debacle cripple the country anyone for 20% unemployment??

The price of gas will skyrocket.

But candidate Obama was only too happy about that previously

January 2008:

“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket . . . because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, natural gas, you name it . . . Whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money, and they will pass that [cost] on to consumers.’’

In the same interview, Obama suggested that his energy policy would require the ruin of the coal industry. “If somebody wants to build a coal-fired plant, they can,’’ he told the Chronicle. “It’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.’’

So the Oil Spill is the perfect political opportunity to get what they want because they want it.

The fact that the people are again, against it, is not relevant.

They want what they want.

So the Democrats in South Carolina want to invalidate a valid election because they didn’t get what they wanted. They complain to this day about the 2000 election because they didn’t get what they wanted. And then the Health Care Debate  went on for over a year until they bum-rushed it through in the most partisan vote in the history of the country.

Now they want your energy.

Your Car.

Your AC.

Your everything that is manufactured and shipped that will be more costly.

And all the job losses for this?

Like they care.

They want what they want when they want it.

Period.

And no one is going to take their toys away from them!

Going the Way of The Boob

After this story, I want you to think like Obama, Holder and the Liberals do about Muslim extremists.

That they are nothing more than civil criminals. To be tried in Civil Courts like they attempted to blow up a 7-Eleven or something.

They are reasonable people.

They can be negotiated with.

Let’s sit down and talk about it.

And profiling them is racist.

LONDON – Agents for Britain’s MI5 intelligence service have discovered that Muslim doctors trained at some of Britain’s leading teaching hospitals have returned to their own countries to fit surgical implants filled with explosives, according to a report fromJoseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

Women suicide bombers recruited by al-Qaida are known to have had the explosives inserted in their breasts under techniques similar to breast enhancing surgery. The lethal explosives – usually PETN (pentaerythritol Tetrabitrate) – are inserted during the operation inside the plastic shapes. The breast is then sewn up.

Similar surgery has been performed on male suicide bombers. In their cases, the explosives are inserted in the appendix area or in a buttock. Both are parts of the body that diabetics use to inject themselves with their prescribed drugs.

Hours after he had failed, GCHQ – Britain’s worldwide eavesdropping “spy in the sky” agency – began to pick up “chatter” emanating from Pakistan and Yemen that alerted MI5 to the creation of the lethal implants.

A hand-picked team was appointed by Jonathan Evans, the head of MI5, to investigate the threat. He described it as “one that can circumvent our defense.”

Top surgeons who work

in the National Health Service confirmed the feasibility of the explosive implants.

In a report to Evans, one said:

“Properly inserted the implant would be virtually impossible to detect by the usual airport scanning machines. You would need to subject a suspect to a sophisticated X-ray. Given that the explosive would be inserted in a sealed plastic sachet, and would be a small amount, would make it all the more impossible to spot it with the usual body scanner.”

Explosive experts at Britain’s Porton Down biological and chemical warfare research center told MI5 that a sachet containing as little as five ounces of PETN when activated would blow “a considerable hole” in an airline’s skin which would guarantee it would crash. (WND)

PETN by the way is what the “panty” bomber had on him on Christmas Day bound for Detroit from Amsterdam.

But we can’t be racist and profile them.

And we can try them in the Civilian Courts like a jaywalker.

The Obama administration, on the other hand, seems to have bent over backward to prove to the world it is not the Bush administration and will, almost no matter what, ensure that everyone gets the benefit of American civil liberties.

But the paramount civil liberty is a sense of security and this, sad to say, has eroded under Barack Obama. (IBD)

Did anyone mention to Khalid Sheik Mohammed’s  Civilian lawyer that both President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder,  and Press Secretary Robert Gibbs that they all have pronounced that he will be “tried.found guilty. and executed” BEFORE the trial.

David Axelrod, the Chief of Staff and Swami Master  said KSM “is going to meet justice and he’s going to meet his maker.”

In Civilian courts that would be the charges thrown out by even the most drunk and stoned moron neophyte lawyer on the planet. Let alone what the Liberals will give him, just to be “fair”.

Can you say blind ideology?

How about stupid?

Moronic?

Idiotic?

Welcome to America 2010. The land that Ideology forgot to notice reality.

The Age (Australia):

FULL body scanners at airports are useless against the latest technique reportedly being considered by terrorists – surgically inserting explosives inside suicide bombers’ bodies – says one of Australia’s leading counter-terrorism experts.

Yet one of the best methods of detection – sniffer dogs – was barely being debated, said counter-terrorism expert Professor Clive Williams of the Australian National University.

Britain’s intelligence agency MI5 has uncovered evidence that al-Qaeda is planning to implant explosives in its operatives’ bodies, security sources have told British newspaper the Daily Mail.

Male bombers could have a plastic sachet of explosives (such as pentaerythritol tetranitrate, used in Semtex plastic explosives) inserted surgically near the appendix area or in the buttocks, the paper reported.

Similarly, female bombers could have the explosives implanted in the breast, just like an augmentation operation, the paper said, citing unnamed sources.

To set off the explosion, the bomber would inject a catalyst through the skin to the sachet, which could be done by posing as a diabetic, the paper said.

Full body scanners have been tested in major Australian airports and are due to be considered for introduction by the Federal Government.

But the machines would not detect bombs implanted in bodies or powdered explosives hidden in underwear, said Professor Williams, who is finalising a report on internal IEDs (improvised explosive devices) for American law enforcement authorities.

”Realistically, even the powdered explosives in the underwear is not going to be picked by body scanners,” he said.

Professor Williams said explosive-detector dogs were cheaper than machines and the most effective form of detection, ”yet they’re not being talked about very much, surprisingly”.

Perhaps sniffer dogs weren’t being considered for passenger screening duties because of ”an element of political correctness”, he suggested.

Some cultures have an aversion to dogs, he said. In Islam, human contact with dogs is considered unclean.

So still think profiling is racist?

And the ACLU and CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) will be right there with their lawyers to destroy you if you do.

Isn’t that just peachy! 🙂

Don’t you feel safer with them around to protect you.

Aviation security consultant Douglas Laird said someone who is technologically inclined and has a college-level science background could outsmart the explosives-sniffing devices.”It’s not a panacea,” said Laird, a retired Secret Service agent. “It’s one more tool.”

Mark Prather, explosives detection business manager for ICx Technologies, commented on Laird’s assessment.

“While it is true that a knowledgeable and motivated terrorist can challenge even the best detection equipment, we believe that for any application, the public is best served by putting the most capable piece of equipment or technology in place to meet the security objective,” Prather said in a statement. “Accomplishing this within a layered security approach is the best answer to meet and defeat potential threats. For some threats, Fido PaxPoint clearly provides the greatest detection capability.”(NH Union Leader)

But first, the Politically Correct are going to have to remove their 60’s rose-colored glasses and wake up to reality.

How likely is that?

<<<BOOM>>>

More likely, but Ideology is a hard-wired thing to break.

<<<BOOM>>>

I guess this will be George W. Bush’s Fault too… 😦

So we go they way of the Boob-y??…

I leave the last word to a Liberal: Richard Cohen (IBD)

There is almost nothing the Obama administration does regarding terrorism that makes me feel safer.

Whether it is guaranteeing captured terrorists that they will not be waterboarded, or whether it is reciting terrorists their rights, or whether it is the legally meandering and confusing rule that some terrorists will be tried in military tribunals and some in civilian courts, what is missing is a firm recognition that what comes first is not the message sent to America’s critics but the message sent to Americans themselves.

When, oh when, will this administration wake up?

The Campaign Marches On

White House officials said Obama campaign manager David Plouffe would be brought on as a political consultant as the White House gears up for the midterm elections.

Plouffe was the campaign manager for Obama’s successful 2008 presidential campaign.

So the Democrats are hunkering down.

The President wants his CAMPAIGN Manager back.

That’s what they learned from Massachusetts.

It’s time for Super Campaign Mode!

Not Governing Mode, Not Leadership Mode, but the ever-present, never-stopped-for-a-minute Campaign Mode!

Any hope for REAL change instead of hardened Ideology are gone.

Not that I believed it could be any other way.

The crew in their now are hardened Ideologues.

And they backed up by the likes, in the Media, of Keith Olbermann (MSNBC), who is so far right he must do everything with his left hand.

Monday, Olbermann described (Scott) Brown as “an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, tea-bagging supporter of violence against women and against politicians with whom he disagrees.”
Tuesday night, Olbermann apologized for the comment — because he didn’t go far enough.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I left out the word sexist.”
“And if he or you don’t like that characterization, my answer to you is simple: disprove it, because he hasn’t,” Olbermann said.
Keith Olbermann apologized for his comments about Massachusetts Senator-Elect Scott Brown Friday night just one day after being called out by Jon Stewart over the remarks (but not Joe Scarborough on the same network, who described the comment as “reckless.”)
But on Thursday’s “Daily Show,” Stewart described Olbermann’s comments as “the harshest description of anyone I’ve ever heard uttered on MSNBC” and performed an impression of Olbermann’s trademark special comments.

Friday, Olbermann played Stewart’s critique in full, offered himself as a guest for “The Daily Show,” and responded with an apology.

After playing The Daily Show segment in full, Olbermann initially struck back at Stewart: “This from a guy who reached his professional apex when he was the host of Short Attention Span Theater, 1991?” But he then relented: “Nah, you know what, you’re right. I have been a little over the top lately. Point taken. Sorry.”

Yeah, right Keith. Then he went to rant about how sorry he was in a very partisan manner and kept going.

And some of the liberal comments to this story that was in the Huffington Post were ragging very personally on Jon Stewart!

And MSNBC head Phil Griffin then fired off the memo, denouncing not Olbermann’s remarks, but Scarborough’s (who criticized the comments as “”How reckless and how sad,” Scarborough wrote. “It is no longer enough to simply disagree with someone. These days some feel the need to call opponents evil. It happens on both extremes.”), as “unprofessional.”

So not much has actually changed.

It’s just going to be a new face, and new diversions of attention, on the same old ideology.

THE AGENDA lives.

It just had a non-fatal Heart Attack on Jan 19th.

WSJ:“People are working harder,” White House senior adviser David Axelrod said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” referring to the economy. “They look at a wave of irresponsibility from Wall Street to Washington that led to that. And those were the frustrations that got the president elected in the first place, and they were reflected again on Tuesday” in Massachusetts.

Not quite the message there, David. But a cute spin.

The re-emergence of Mr. Plouffe on the political stage took some Democratic officials by surprise, though White House officials said he wouldn’t have a title and wouldn’t work from the White House. Mr. Axelrod, in emails to The Wall Street Journal, dismissed as “overblown” the speculation that an enhanced role for Mr. Plouffe was a prelude to a shake-up of the political staff or a change of course by the White House. Although Mr. Plouffe will be consulted on political strategy and communications, “he is not coming into the White House,” Mr. Axelrod said. “He will bring added value and an outside perspective we need.”

The message Mr. Plouffe is bringing was a collaborative effort by him, White House officials and the leadership of the Democratic National Committee. That message is one of no retreat in the face of polling that shows opposition to the president’s push on health and discontent with economic efforts.

Writing in Sunday’s Washington Post, Mr. Plouffe said Democrats needed to quickly pass a broad health overhaul, get serious about job creation even as they tout the impact of last year’s stimulus package, turn up the heat on Republicans over the deficits incurred in the Bush years, and stop grousing about the political climate.

“Instead of fearing what may happen, let’s prove that we have more than just the brains to govern—that we have the guts to govern. Let’s fight like hell,” Mr. Plouffe wrote, striking the same chord Mr. Obama did at a town-hall meeting in Ohio Friday and likely will Wednesday in his first State of the Union address.

On “Meet the Press,” White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said, “What we learned from the Massachusetts victory is that people are sick and tired of Washington not delivering for them.”

Oh, God! More Spending!!!

More Social Programs!

Stimulus II?

Go after  “Greedy” Corporate America and The Banks.

More George W. Bush Bashing!

Saturday, he endorsed legislation in the Senate to create a bipartisan commission to tackle the budget deficit. A vote on creating that commission is scheduled in the Senate for Tuesday; it isn’t expected to pass.

White House officials hope the president’s endorsement of the bill will soften GOP opposition to his plan to create a similar panel by executive order. That commission will need GOP cooperation to fill eight of the 18 seats on the panel with Republicans.

So in hyper-partisan Washington you’re going to create a panel of 10 Democrats and 8 Republicans and expect something meaningful and “bi-Partisan” to come out of it??

Has anyone talked to the Democrats on that one??

After all, many Democrats blame the whole mess on Republicans. And the Republicans blame it on being shut out of the process, which they were.

The dysfunction continues.

While presidents typically experience rough patches, this one is particularly challenging for Mr. Obama. Liberals have grown disenchanted with what they see as his unwillingness to fight harder for their causes; independents have been turned off by his failure, in their view, to change the way Washington works; and Republicans have become implacably hostile.(NYT)

Gallup: The 65 percentage-point gap between Democrats’ (88%) and Republicans’ (23%) average job approval ratings for Barack Obama is easily the largest for any president in his first year in office, greatly exceeding the prior high of 52 points for Bill Clinton.

But they still miss the Independents, don’t they. Politics is so polarized that it’s black and white. But Massachusetts was done largely by the Independents.

But I don’t expect any change.

As David Plouffe said in a Washington Post Editorial : We need to lay it out plainly: If you put the GOP back in charge, lobbyists and huge corporate special interests will be back in the driver’s seat. Workers and families will get run over, just like they did in the past decade.

Grandma will be eating dog food. The sky is falling! The Sky is falling!

The Republicans are Evil, We are Good.

The same old fear campaign.

Tedious, but predictable.

Meanwhile, Independents go <<yawn>>

“Change” is not just about policies. In 2006, Democrats promised to drain the swamp and won back Congress largely because the American people soured on corrupt Republican leadership. Many ethics reforms were put in place by the Democrats. But a recent Gallup poll showed that a record 55 percent of Americans think members of Congress have low ethics, up from only 21 percent in 2000. In particular, we have to make sure the freshman and sophomore members of the House who won in part on transparency and reform issues can show they are delivering. The Republicans will suggest they have changed their spots, but the GOP cannot hold a candle to us on reform issues. Let’s make sure we own this space.

So hold on tight, it’s going to be even worse than 2008.

And the lies and distortions and Mainstream media manipulations will be even worse!

Oh Joy!

But the ole’ Gang that brought you the 2008 hyper-partisan super-controlled message is back in town for the sequel.

So, The Times They aren’t a Changin’ 🙂

First They Came for Fox

The White House stopped providing guests to ‘Fox News Sunday’  (Last August) after Wallace fact-checked controversial assertions made by Tammy Duckworth, assistant secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, in August. Dunn said fact-checking an administration official was “something I’ve never seen a Sunday show do.”

“She criticized ‘FOX News Sunday’ last week for fact-checking –fact-checking — an administration official,” Wallace said Sunday.”They didn’t say that our fact-checking was wrong. They just said that we had dared to fact-check.

London Telegraph:

On Sunday, chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said this on CNN:

The way the president looks at it, we look at it is:  It’s not a news organisation so much as it has a perspective. And that’s a different take. And more importantly, is not have the CNNs and the others in the world basically be led in following Fox, as if what they’re trying to do is a legitimate news organisation.

And top adviser David Axelrod said this on ABC:

It’s really not news.  It’s pushing a point of view. And the bigger thing is that other news organisations, like yours, ought not to treat them that way, and we’re not going to treat them that way.

In some respects, I suppose that all’s fair in love, war and politics. I don’t really blame them for trying this on – though Axelrod, as a former journalist, must in his heart of hearts feel pretty grubby when reciting this particular talking point. What’s really wrong is letting them get away with it.

Basically, the White House doesn’t want stories like ACORN and Van Jones – legitimate, even necessary, stories which Fox bravely pursued with immense vigour – taking hold. The media will be more compliant, it hopes, if it introduces a chill factor – “Why are you asking this impertinent question about a story which is being run on Fox, which we all know isn’t a news organisation?

As Tom DeFrank, a veteran Washington journalist now DC bureau chief of the New York Daily News, comments:

I can never remember a White House urging news organizations to boycott other news organizations. That strikes me as unprecedented.

Journalists have a duty to reject this brazen attempt to dictate to the media just who is legitimate and who is not and how we should treat whoever the US government tells us is illegitimate. Where does this lead to?

Depressingly, there are some journalists who should know better eagerly dancing to the White House’s tune on this one. Here’s Newsweek’s Jacob Weisberg:

Whether the White House engages with Fox is a tactical political question. Whether we journalists continue to do so is an ethical one. By appearing on Fox, reporters validate its propaganda values and help to undermine the role of legitimate news organizations.Respectable journalists—I’m talking to you, Mara Liasson (NPR)—should stop appearing on its programs. A boycott would make Ailes too happy, so let’s try just ignoring Fox, shall we? And no, I don’t want to come on The O’Reilly Factor to discuss it.

Thankfully, there are other methods of deligitimising them.

Michael Wolf (Vanity Fair) on his blog put it this way:

Hence, Republicanism = conservatism = Fox = rabid opposition to an incredibly popular piece of legislation (Health Care Reform) = hopeless marginalization = new liberal consensus.

I think they’re really going for it and that we may all turn out to be liberals.

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it.  (Saul Alinsky)

By the way, this is the same Jacob Weisberg who’s article in Newsweek was subtitled:

“Fox News isn’t just bad. It’s un-American.”

Being critical of this president is “un-American” you know 🙂

Remind you of anyone?

“Let the facts be heard,” they wrote. “These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.” — Nancy “The Public Option is the only Option” Pelosi on the administration’s view being unfairly the victim of protests in August mostly.

So protesting them on any level, by anyone, is “Un-American”.

That’s your post-partisan America that Obama promised. He just didn’t say that the reason there’d be no partisanship is because it would not be allowed because it’s Un-American.

Obama: “resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long”; that “the times are too serious, the stakes are too high” for the same old political-attack tricks; and that he alone would elevate public discourse and serve as a unifying figure for America.”

If I were to say : This whole gambit will come across to a lot of people as misguided and petty, the product of a White House that is unusually thin-skinned and somewhat paranoid – and, perhaps, as one that can’t be trusted with power.

Would I be talking about Bush/Cheney (according to the Mainstream Media and the Democrats for the last 6-8 years) or Obama for the last 9 months?

Hmmm? 🙂

Maybe it’s a “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy” after all… 🙂

Those journalists sitting this one out need to ask themselves what they will do when the White House comes after them or their news organisation.

Because if Fox is allowed to be placed out of respectable bounds in this way then when the going gets tougher – as it will – the White House will simply move on to another target.

And it’s not like this administration has any tolerance for anyone who opposes them for any reason.

Poem Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group.

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me.

So they came for FOX and I said nothing.

Then they came for Talk Radio and I said nothing.

Then they came for the Internet (net neutrality anyone?) and I said nothing.

Then when they came for me, there was no one left.

So where will you be when they come for you?

Or me, for writing this ? 🙂

<<knock knock>>

“who’s there?”

We’re from the government and we are here to help you…
