Coffee Liberalism

I have to laugh at Starbucks. I haven’t drank coffee in over 30 years so I have no investment whatsoever in their business, but I just have to laugh.

Some White Liberals elitist executives (90% of Starbucks corporate leadership are white) thought it would be a real “feel good” moment to get people to “talk” about race relations at their stores.

“So how do you feel about the plight of the black youths today?” with your cafe’ latte “and that’ll be $6.

Hilarious!

Only the mind of a hippy liberal would have thought this was a good idea.

Well, they had good intentions, the liberals would say.

Well, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, Just look at Obama!

Typical of Liberals.

We’ll all just sit around drink our double mocha Caffè macchiato and pontificate about race in America with our customers (said with a pompous posh British upper class voice).

Did anyone ask the Baristas about putting their necks on the chopping block? Of course not. Corporate thought it was a “good idea” to “do something positive” for the public at large.

Then they pass out “the test” to see how racist you really are and how guilty the hippie Leftist can make you feel. 🙂

starbucks

It’s like Democrat Debbie (Wasermann-Schultz) tweeting out “tell me your favourite Democrat policies” and failing to understand that she just invited herself to be nuked.

But the doey-eyed hippy white guilt liberals just don’t understand that life is not as simple minded as they are.

It made them “feel good” about themselves so we want to make other feel good too.

BARF!

The fact that what they did was in fact JUST AS RACIST as the stuff that made them feel sad and that they didn’t know that is hilarious!

Is taking your coffee “black” racist?? 🙂

“Over the last few months, I have tried to seek out other influential people who have a greater understanding than I do of the issue of race and racial injustice in America.” CEO of Starbuscks said. Yeah, they were all white and all Liberal (or racist black people like Al Sharpton) “intellectuals” no doubt.

Schultz argued that the idea is to have a “positive effect on the national conversation” and help people understand that everyone has their unconscious biases.

Unfortunately, like most Liberals he doesn’t understand his own, but projects them at others.

The backlash over Starbucks’ dumb #racetogether campaign, in which employees are “encouraged” to discuss racial issues with their customers, arrived quickly. Among the numerous questions: whose dumb idea was this? Did the corporate honchos at Starbucks take into consideration whether their employees were well-equipped to have difficult conversations about race? Were they aware that they could be placing their baristas into hostile situations that they’re unprepared to diffuse? Was this the ultimate form of White Guilt? Or was the coffee company trying to capitalize off the growing news and discussion over racial issues in America?

Maybe they gave them “sensitivity” training? A video or two?? Nah, they just threw them to the wolves because it made THEM “feel good” because they were “doing something”. Which is the excuse for most Liberal ideas that fail miserably.

Naturally, people turned to Corey DuBrowa, Starbucks’ Senior Vice President of Communications, to find answers to these questions:

Yes: DuBrowa, a middle-aged white man, who was part of a corporate team that commanded their baristas to discuss race issues with their customers, deleted his Twitter account after people tried to discuss race issues with him.

In a statement to PR Week, DuBrowa said that he would come back on Twitter, but only when people stopped being so gosh darn negative to him:

DuBrowa explained that he shut down his Twitter account for a simple reason.

“My Twitter account was targeted around midnight [on Tuesday], and the tweets represented a distraction from the respectful conversation we’re trying to have around Race Together,” he said.

Translation: “Distraction”: People aren’t doing what we wanted them to do, which was of course was to fess up about how guilty they are of being racists.

Translation: “respectful conservation”: Hey! you’re suppose to be 100% in  agreement with me and do as we say or else I’ll take my marbles and go home…

DuBrowa added that he will be back on the social network soon, and Starbucks has announcements planned for its annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday that will provide more details about and context around Race Together.

Translation: The corporate PR people will be working overtime to try and fix/spin this mess and we’ll roll out our pig with some new lipstick soon!

David Calpo, an ordinary citizen responder, on the article from Mediaite above hit on the head:

Subatomic-particle-thin-skinned extreme-leftist execs who shut down social media accounts just because prospective customers ask them difficult questions about idiotic policies are JUST the kind of people that need to be training their employees how to handle situations beyond their own and their company’s core competency that they themselves initiate. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?!?!

They had the best of intention and it made them “feel good” so what could possibly go wrong! 🙂

Liberalism in microcosm.

These baristas seem to know that customers are supposed to patronize businesses, businesses are NOT supposed to patronize their customers. (But it made management “feel good” about “doing something”).
One Grande Bold Coffee please, hold the white guilt. 🙂

The Grand Distraction

Wanna know how warped the Left is?

From here…

“As we peer into society’s future, we — you and I, and our government — must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering for our own ease and convenience the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow.”

President Dwight D. Eisenhower (D)
Farewell Address to the Nation; January 17, 1961

To Eternity…

Here are Obama’s thoughts on the debt limit in 2006, when he voted against increasing the ceiling:

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

In 2007 and in 2008, when the Senate voted to increase the limit by $850 billion and $800 billion respectively, Obama did not bother to vote. (He did vote for TARP, which increased the debt limit by $700 billion.)

I guess he was running for President by then…funny that…It was all for show. He didn’t mean it then, he was just be a partisan contrarian, and he doesn’t mean it now.

Now you get the latest and most whacked….

Actor Danny Glover (who I respect as an actor only) folks.

“I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms,” he said. “The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans.”

“A revolt from people who were stolen from their land or revolt from people whose land was stolen from, that’s what the genesis of the second amendment is,” he continued.

It isn’t. But it feeds the ideological beast so it must be true.

Alleged Non-Liberal “Journalist” CBS’s Bob Schieffer: The NRA are Nazis.

The Obama era of liberal civility just keeps on getting better. A gun control discussion that should be about policy has once again given way to leftist bloodlust. As usual, everything with them becomes personal. The multi-billionth example comes from CBS correspondent Bob Schieffer. Stressing the urgency to restrict the freedoms of law-abiding citizens, Schieffer lamented that “defeating the Nazis, was a much more formidable task than taking on the gun lobby.”

BOB SCHIEFFER: …Let’s remember: there was considerable opposition when Lyndon Johnson went to the Congress and…presented some of the most comprehensive civil rights legislation in the history of this country. Most people told him he couldn’t get it done, but he figured out a way to do it. And that’s what Barack Obama is going to have to do…what happened in Newtown was probably the worst day in this country’s history since 9/11. We found Osama bin Laden. We tracked him down. We changed the way that we dealt with that problem. Surely, finding Osama bin Laden; surely, passing civil rights legislation, as Lyndon Johnson was able to do; and before that, surely, defeating the Nazis, was a much more formidable task than taking on the gun lobby.

SCHIEFFER: This is a turning point in this country, and the President is going to have to do more than just make a speech about it. This is one of the best speeches I’ve ever heard him deliver, but it’s going to take more than that from the White House. He’s going to have to get his hands dirty. He’s going to have to get in there and – and work this problem until he gets it done. But unless we figure out a way to make sure that something like Newtown never happens again, we’re not the country that we once were. I think we still are. I think there’s hope. I think something’s going to happen here.

So being for the Second Amendment is now Racist and Nazi-esque. Gee, where has this process of mental limitation occurred before on the left?

Every time they want something from their ideological grab-bag.

Fascinating.

So yet again, if you disagree with the LEFT eventually you are are a Racist Nazi in the end. 🙂

IBD: President Obama has settled on a political communications strategy for his final term that begins Sunday:

Talk about admirable aspirations, ignore the nation’s economic and fiscal realities, keep everyone fighting amongst themselves over anything at hand while calmly deploring all the disputes, rancor and chaos that this president has helped to engineer.

“My starting point is not to worry about the politics,” Obama said with a straight face. “My starting point is to focus on what makes sense, what works, what should we be doing to make sure that our children are safe and that we’re reducing the incidents of gun violence.”

Everyone faint in awe of HIS GREATNESS, The King.

Such stunning cynicism has actually worked pretty well for the Real Good Talker this past year.

Never mind stratospheric millions of jobless, an amazingly ineffective economic stimulus program, historic highs in poverty rates, a national debt larger than a national economy and nearly 50 million people collecting food stamps tossed out like free candy from a parade float.

Instead, talk about educating every single American child for their own fair shot at some kind of idealized future, delivering better healthcare to millions more people for less money with no additional doctors and protecting ill-defined middle-class Americans from someone doing something to them.

None of it will ever come to pass on his grand rhetorical scale. But the community organizer doesn’t care. By the time enough figure it out, Obama will be back in the Pacific golfing with Choom Gang buddies while another ghostwriter drafts the next autobiography.

Now that he’s got Washington and Republicans fighting over how to address his briefly postponed sequester cuts and a national debt that grows by $2.8 million every single minute of every single day, Obama this morning launches his next divisive distraction: More controls on firearms.

While the media has been full of stories of booming post-election gun sales, less attention has been focused on another fact: As the estimated count of non-military U.S. firearms now exceeds 310 million, the annual number of gun homicides has declined strikingly: From more than 17,000 in 1993 to 9,900 in 2011.

No one believes that anything Washington orders will stop the awful occasional outbreaks by a few twisted souls among the more than 315 million Americans. But it’s admirable to try, isn’t it? It sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? Can you prove it won’t work?

And fortuitously for Obama and his mob from Chicago, the nation’s newest gun homicide capital, a renewed emotional if useless, constitutional debate over bearing arms will keep folks from discussing other issues potentially more embarrassing to this White House.

Like Benghazi. Fast & Furious. Unemployment. Inflation. Foreign Policy. Energy Policy. ObamaCare…

Pig Out!

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

The so-called “Tax Deal” framework worked out by the President and the Republicans has been the victim this week of Rapid Onset  DC Porkulus Disease.

The lard of political pork has weighed this bill down so it can’t move anymore. And is no longer healthy to digest.

Things like pork for Ethanol Subsidies, laden in their by the corn producing States Congressional “representatives” of course!

Sen. Tom Harkin (D., Iowa) and Sen. Ben Nelson (D., Neb.) said later that a one-year extension of the 45-cent-a-gallon credit for blending ethanol into gasoline would be added to the Senate tax package.
Even Al “The Savior of Mankind” Gore is not HOT on Ethanol anymore. But, hey, it’s necessary pork. 🙂
And it raises food prices because that corn doesn’t go to feed humans or animals.
That’s worth $6 Billion in pork, right?
And that’s only the tip of this pig’s snout.

It needs to go down. To defeat that is.

And the Republicans need to vote it down, but explain that it is being voted down because of the pork overload being piled on it by Democrats.

And another thing, when former President Clinton can speak about it more articulately about it than our current President ,who always complains about poor communication, you know there’s a problem.

Obama bailed on Clinton in The White House Briefing with a lame excuse and Clinton carried on for an Hour!

So now it’s Bill’s job to save even this meager thing from his own party’s hounds?

No wonder this current White House has communication problems!

But mostly, they have comprehension problems in spades!

Over the last few days I have come to believe Charles Krauthammer was ahead of the curve on this one.

Charles Krauthammer: Barack Obama won the great tax-cut showdown of 2010 – and House Democrats don’t have a clue that he did. In the deal struck this week, the president negotiated the biggest stimulus in American history, larger than his $814 billion 2009 stimulus package. It will pump a trillion borrowed Chinese dollars into the U.S. economy over the next two years – which just happen to be the two years of the run-up to the next presidential election. This is a defeat?

If Obama had asked for a second stimulus directly, he would have been laughed out of town. Stimulus I was so reviled that the Democrats banished the word from their lexicon throughout the 2010 campaign. And yet, despite a very weak post-election hand, Obama got the Republicans to offer to increase spending and cut taxes by $990 billion over two years. Two-thirds of that is above and beyond extension of the Bush tax cuts but includes such urgent national necessities as windmill subsidies.

No mean achievement. After all, these are the same Republicans who spent 2010 running on limited government and reducing debt. And this budget busting occurs less than a week after the president’s deficit commission had supposedly signaled a new national consensus of austerity and frugality.

Some Republicans are crowing that Stimulus II is the Republican way – mostly tax cuts – rather than the Democrats’ spending orgy of Stimulus I. That’s consolation? This just means that Republicans are two years too late. Stimulus II will still blow another near-$1 trillion hole in the budget.

At great cost that will have to be paid after this newest free lunch, the package will add as much as 1 percent to GDP and lower the unemployment rate by about 1.5 percentage points. That could easily be the difference between victory and defeat in 2012.

Obama is no fool. While getting Republicans to boost his own reelection chances, he gets them to make a mockery of their newfound, second-chance, post-Bush, Tea-Party, this-time-we’re-serious persona of debt-averse fiscal responsibility.

And he gets all this in return for what? For a mere two-year postponement of a mere 4.6-point increase in marginal tax rates for upper incomes. And an estate tax rate of 35 percent – it jumps insanely from zero to 55 percent on Jan. 1 – that is somewhat lower than what the Democrats wanted.

No, cries the left: Obama violated a sacred principle. A 39.6 percent tax rate versus 35 percent is a principle? “This is the public option debate all over again,” said Obama at his Tuesday news conference. He is right. The left never understood that to nationalize health care there is no need for a public option because Obamacare turns the private insurers into public utilities, thus setting us inexorably on the road to the left’s Promised Land: a Canadian-style single-payer system. The left is similarly clueless on the tax-cut deal: In exchange for temporarily forgoing a small rise in upper-income rates, Obama pulled out of a hat a massive new stimulus – what the left has been begging for since the failure of Stimulus I but was heretofore politically unattainable.

Obama’s public exasperation with this infantile leftism is both perfectly understandable and politically adept. It is his way back to at least the appearance of centrist moderation. The only way he will get a second look from the independents who elected him in 2008 – and abandoned the Democrats in 2010 – is by changing the prevailing (and correct) perception that he is a man of the left.

Hence that news-conference attack on what the administration calls the “professional left” for its combination of sanctimony and myopia. It was Obama’s Sister Souljah moment. It had a prickly, irritated sincerity – their ideological stupidity and inability to see the “long game” really do get under Obama’s skin – but a decidedly calculated quality, too. Where, after all, does the left go? Stay home on Election Day 2012? Vote Republican?

No, says the current buzz, the left will instead challenge Obama for the Democratic nomination. Really now? For decades, African Americans have been this party’s most loyal constituency. They vote 9 to 1 Democratic through hell and high water, through impeachment and recession, through everything. After four centuries of enduring much, African Americans finally see one of their own achieve the presidency. And their own party is going to deny him a shot at his own reelection?

Not even Democrats are that stupid. The remaining question is whether they are just stupid enough to not understand – and therefore vote down – the swindle of the year just pulled off by their own president.

And whether the Republicans are smart enough to not only run from this deal, but to point out who killed it, thus making the Democrats ultimately responsible for your taxes going up on Jan 1. But are they THAT smart?

And the even bigger question is, can the Spending Drug addicts on both sides go into rehab (More Discovery Channel Intervention-style not Lindsey Lohan-Hollywood)  and actually change their ways.

And will their drug-dependents (the people) let them.

The jury is still out on that one.

I’m not hopeful.

But that’s why I’m a pessimist. I like being surprised when I’m wrong. 🙂

Predictions

My predictions: The lame Duck Democrats will proclaim victory if- a) They get one or more of their AGENDA items crammed through or b) get the republicans to agree to a “compromise” and put a huge tax increase on “the rich”.

Thus when the economy stalls because of it, it’s “The Republican’s fault”.

I think more likely, the Congress will simply go home in 2 weeks having done nothing as the Democrats will simply punt on the issue. And it will be the “republican’s fault” when they do.

Make no mistake, the hyper-partisan Democrats are the ones left in Congress and they will still press on. Because they don’t believe the elections were about them, specifically. They are far too superior and their faith in their own superiority is too strong.

So when the new Congress is sworn in, I’d give them generously to the end of the month before the liberal media is all over like they were starting in 2003 but really ramped up after it didn’t work in 2004. And that’s being very generous.

The Democrats who have been whining about not having enough time to implement their plans and “lack of communication” will suddenly turn on a dime and the Republicans will not be given time to implement anything because if it it is not an instant success (almost overnight) the  Democrats and the Ministry of Truth 2012 Republican Destruction Machine will kick in again and it will be endlessly bad news.

Oh, and the Republicans won’t have “inherited” the problem from the Democrats, by the way. At least according to them and their liberal media friends.

They will just be blamed for causing it and for being unable to fix it. So fundamentally, we need the Democrats to finish what was so rudely and crudely (and ignorantly) interrupted by the 2010 election.

And even if the Republican do work it, the Democrats will take all the glory for themselves and The Obama 2012 Re-Election Campaign and the media will be happy to jump gleefully on that bandwagon.

If there isn’t instant prosperity, it’s the Republicans fault. And if the economy does improve that’s the Democrats socialist crapola “working” finally and it was just ye of little faith that doubted their superiority.

Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. But at least it won’t be Obama and The Democrats fault! 🙂

It will be  that transparent.

The key is to not let them get away with it like they did from 2005-2010.

That’s what has to happen.

As a side note to the Angelina Jolie, Thanksgiving is “murder” snipet a few days ago and her disgust with the holiday and how she wasn’t going to be in this country for it. I joked to myself, she’ll be in France instead. And sure enough, she was spotted in Paris with her family.

After all, it’s so much more civilized over there… 🙂

And now that Julian Asage, the WikiLeaker has now savaged Obama will the Democrats finally decide that all this leaking of allegedly classified (allegedly only because if it was truly classified security would be better than it is) documents to embarrass and destroy America is actually treasonous and has to be dealt with severely?

Doubt it. They don’t have the backbone for it.

So, my ultimate prediction is Hyper-partisanship and a Liberal Media behind it.

In other words, more of the same.

The wild card could be  foreign policy, a topic that bores our dear President to death, especially since he’s no longer a rock-star, but a weak, ineffective, loser.

His be nice to everyone and hope they like us, they really, really do like us strategy is so tediously silly it’s nauseating, but very liberal and Very, very Politically Correct.

He can also just use the liberal courts, the EPA, The NLRB and other instruments of government to go around the people and the Congress if need be. After all, he is so vastly smarter and more intellectually superior than you simple folk.

The Agenda is the Agenda!

Sad really…Hope I’m wrong. But I doubt it… 😦

The Left Doesn’t Get it :)

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

I would add in Treasury Secretary Geithner, Fed Chairman Bernacke and our dear President.

Geithner and Bernacke for there Us Treasury Bond buy out which is just another attempt at a stimulus for what the 6th time now? (and a quarter of the money they are using is from TARP, remember that from 2 years ago that was going to save the universe?)

Trying to pump money into the system so that business will lend it and hire and buy. Instead, they just hoard it expecting the Obama Administration to hit them with even more taxes because the are “rich” “fat cats” and evil, greedy corporate america.

The Bush Tax cuts are still out there.

Health care Mandates are still out there.

Financial “reform” is still out there.

So what will they try next?

That’s been the problem all along. What will the Left do next to demonize the business community next? They don’t know.

And then our dear President is going on a trip to Indonesia where he seems determined to take the entire US Navy with him like a Potentate, at a cost some estimate at $200 million PER DAY.

He just doesn’t get it.

I saw his press conference the day after the elections and it was clear he personally doesn’t get it.

The Associated Press’ Ben Feller asked if he would concede that the midterms had been “a fundamental rejection of your agenda.” Obama declined. “What they were expressing great frustration about is the fact that we haven’t made enough progress on the economy.”

It’s not the policies that have failed. They just haven’t work fast enough for the stupid, impatient, get-me-a-job today, ungrateful , unwashed, stupid masses! 🙂

“Would you still resist the notion that voters rejected the policy choices you made?” “Voters are not satisfied with the outcomes,” the president said.

No matter how many ways reporters phrased the question, the answer was the same. CNN’s Ed Henry suggested there may be “a majority of Americans who think your polices are taking us in reverse,” and asked: “You just reject that idea altogether that your policies could be going in reverse?” “Yes,” Obama said sharply.

What failures he did admit were those of tactics and communications. It’s not that he has poisonous relations with business, he said, but that he needs to do better at “setting the right tone publicly.” It’s not that his economic policies were flawed, he said, but that people “don’t see” the progress.

You just aren’t doe-eyes and awe-struck enough to see how great he is. You don’t faint in his presence.

Then the best comedy line (in a cynical way mind you):

Peter Baker of the New York Times asked Obama for areas in which he’d be willing to compromise with Republicans. “I’ve been willing to compromise in the past, and I’m going to be willing to compromise going forward,” the president fired back.

Now that’s comedy! That’s why they shut out the Republicans completely, shouted and denigrated the American People, BECAUSE THEY WERE WILLING TO COMPROMISE! 🙂

Must be quite an alternate universe to be them.

When Fox News’ Mike Emanuel pointed out that one in two voters, according to exit polls, favors a repeal, Obama replied: “It also means one out of two voters think it was the right thing to do.”

It’s also obvious that the self-righteous, smarter-than-thou Progressive Left is incapable of getting it either.

There are calls by the whacky left to just ignore Congress altogether and just use regulatory power to get the agenda crammed through. After all, why let anything get in the way of Utopia? 🙂

By any means Necessary. The end justifies the means.

Many of these nuts are the same ones, by the way, that were made at Obama because he was far left enough for there taste over the last 2 years! Yikes!

Obama’s conclusion: “Getting out of here” — the White House — “is good for me.” On that, at least, he’ll probably get Republican support. (IBD-A Leftist columnist no less).

Political Cartoon by Jerry Holbert

P.s. The San Francisco Liberal Food Police Strike again:

On Tuesday, San Francisco became the first major U.S. city to pass a law requiring restaurant kids’ meals to meet certain nutritional standards before they can be sold with toys. For example, the new law forces fast-food chains like McDonald’s to make their children’s meals healthier or stop selling them with toys.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, if the ordinance passes its final vote next week, it will go into effect in December 2011. Beginning in 2011, restaurants will only be able to give toys away with kids’ meals if the meal contains less than 600 calories, has less than 640 milligrams of sodium and less than 35 percent of the calories are derived from fat (less than 10 percent from saturated fat), except for fat contained in nuts, seeds, eggs or low-fat cheese.

In beverages, less than 35 percent of the total calories can come from fat, and less than 10 percent from added sweeteners. In addition, the meals must contain a half-cup or more of fruit and three-quarters of a cup or more of vegetables. A breakfast meal must contain at least a half-cup of fruit or vegetables.

Backers of the ordinance say it aims to promote healthy eating habits while combating childhood obesity. Also, activists who support the measure said they hope efforts like this would curb childhood obesity, perhaps starting a trend that would spread to other cities, states and the country.

“It’s not a ban; it’s an incentive. We’re part of a movement that is moving forward an agenda of food justice,” said Supervisor Eric Mar, who sponsored the measure. “Our children are sick. Rates of obesity in San Francisco are disturbingly high, especially among children of color,” added Mar.

But fear not:

Scott Rodrick, an owner and operator of 10 McDonald’s restaurants in the city, said, “There will be sales loss, there may be jobs impacted, and I know the city of San Francisco will lose tax income to people wanting a McDonald’s experience without government intervention.”

According to Rodrick anyone could circumvent the law easily. Someone doesn’t have to travel very far — a mile outside San Francisco — to get the traditional McDonald’s Happy Meals experience. (Until the liberal cancer spreads that is).

First it was Salt. Then it was fat. Now it’s Kid’s Meals….You’re Next Fatso!

The Liberal Food Police are coming for you, Barbara! 🙂
