The Actual Report Card

During President Barack Obama’s first term, the number of Americans collecting federal disability insurance increased by 1,385,418 to a record 8,827,795.

As a result, there is now one person collecting disability in this county for every 13 people working full-time (and that of course is also flat as the unemployment rate in Jan 2009 and the unemployment rate now are the same- The u6 for underemployment is actually higher than in Jan 2009). Forty-two years ago, in December 1968, there were 51 people working full-time in this country for each person collecting disability.

But don’t worry, that was GW Bush’s Fault! like everything else that’s bad about our newly Re-coronated King.

The number of Americans age 16 or older who decided not to work or even to seek a job increased by 8,332,000 to a record 88,839,000 in President Barack Obama’s first term, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

At the same time, the number of retired workers collecting Social Security increased by only 4,234,480.

The increase in Americans opting out of the labor force during Obama’s first term resulted in a decrease in the labor force participation rate from 65.7 percent in January 2009, the month Obama was first inaugurated, to 63.6 percent in December 2012, the latest month reported. Before Obama took office, the labor force participation rate had not been as low as 63.6 percent since 1981, the year President Ronald Reagan took over from President Jimmy Carter.

To be in the labor force a person must either have a job or actively sought one in the previous four weeks.

So I guess those millions of jobs “saved or created” wasn’t that fantastic after all… 🙂

In the comparable period of George W. Bush’s second term, the number of Americans choosing not to participate in the labor force went from 76,808,000 in January 2005 to 80,380,000 in December 2012—an increase of 3,572,000.

But Bush is the spawn of the Devil himself and he caused all of this so this must be a lie told by right wing extremists! Because everyone who is “intelligent” knows that everything in the world went to hell after he was elected. 🙂

President Barack Obama averaged a 49.1 percent job approval during his first term in office, among the lowest for post-World War II presidents, according to a new Gallup poll.

Only Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford had lower job approval averages in their first terms, Gallup reported. (CNS)

Now that’s good company! 🙂

So 49% approved and 50% voted for him.  And it had been Lower than Carter’s (aka the lowest on record since WWII) in 2011.

Wow! that’s tight. No wonder he ran the dirtiest, nastiest, ugliest smear campaign in probably 150 years.

It was vote for me The Unpopular or Vote for my Opponent — The Evil Rich White Asshole!

And the stupid people fell for it!

When the Bush tax cuts and War on Terror went into effect, the debt as a dollar amount rose, but as a percentage of GDP it remained fairly stable.   It was only when the financial crisis hit that the debt exploded.  So, it’s not mathematically possible that policies that were put into place nearly seven years prior to the debt exploding, could be responsible for its rise.

The left is simply cherry-picking the policies–expenditures in their minds– that it likes the LEAST, from the time prior to Obama taking office and using them to deflect the blame away from things like the stimulus, the growth of welfare spending and the failure of liberal economic policies to stimulate economic growth.

Think about it this way.  The amount of money taken out of the general fund each year to pay for Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security is more than the cost of any one year of the Bush Tax cuts or the was in Iraq and Afghanistan when they were at their peak.

By the left’s standards, you could pin just as much blame for the debt increase on the presidents who passed those entitlement programs.  But, you don’t hear President Obama pinning the blame on LBJ or FDR for the $5 Trillion in new debt that we’ve accumulated since he took office. (CNS)

So in closing, a Little Comedy:

And this is funny:

They are having  a 3/5 sale! 🙂

Now if that doesn’t offend the hyper-sensitive Left I don’t know what will.

I know, George W, Bush!  That always works! 🙂

Pyrrhic Victory For The People

Economy: President Obama and his acolytes are gushing over his fiscal cliff victory. But the glow isn’t likely to last long, once everyone figures out that the tax hikes Obama wrangled from Republicans only made matters worse.

But this wasn’t a battle about economics to begin with, as you will see…

Let’s look at what Obama has managed to achieve with his $620 billion tax hike on the wealthy and the boost in the payroll tax rate.

• They’ll hurt the economy. Economists are admitting the fiscal deal will slow the already sluggish economic growth.

Moody’s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi says the higher taxes on the wealthy and the increase in payroll taxes will shave close to 1 point off GDP growth this year and result in 600,000 fewer new jobs.

Pantheon Macroeconomic Advisors chief economist Ian Shepherdson figures the deal will cut GDP by 1.5 points. And Gallup’s chief economist Dennis Jacobe says the deal has created a “higher probability of recession — just the opposite of what fixing the fiscal cliff was intended to do.”

• They’ll do nothing to fix the debt crisis. Even with the Obama tax hikes, deficits are likely to reach nearly $1 trillion this year and top $6 trillion over the next decade. Worse, by slowing economic growth, the tax increase makes tackling the nation’s debt crisis all the harder. Getting deficits under control means tackling the massive growth in entitlement spending. But Obama still hasn’t put forward a credible plan to do so. If he fails again, he’ll pay a price with the public. And if he does put forward a plan, he’ll find himself at war with his own party.

• They won’t raise as much as advertized. History is clear: Tax hikes rarely produce as much revenues as expected, particularly when they’re targeted at the rich, who can more easily avoid the new taxes.

President George H.W. Bush’s tax hikes in 1990 generated $135 billion less than expected. And revenues as a share of GDP came in lower than predicted after Clinton’s tax hikes went into effect.

But this was not about economics per se, it was about Ideology. And he won that battle, the only one he was actually fighting.

Want more proof: The Evil scourge from hell “The Bush Tax Cuts” that the Democrats have been railing and wailing about incessantly for years now were made permanent, mostly.

The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 (ATRA) (BOY IS THAT AN ORWELLIAN TITLE TO BEAT THEM ALL! 🙂 ), which President Obama signed into law last night, makes permanent 82 percent of President Bush’s tax cuts.

The Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) and Congressional Budget Office estimate that making permanent all of the Bush tax cuts would have cost $3.4 trillion over 2013-2022.

“The Bush tax cuts” has been practically a curse word for Liberals these last few years. Nothing was more evil than them, THEY are almost exclusively responsible for the crash in 2008 according to them (that and the Iraq War).

They are so evil, they just made them permanent for most people and not only gave up “getting rid” of them they made a selling point for how great they are and how they are “protecting the middle class”.

That tells you it was just an Alinsky tactic to win the Political battle. It wasn’t about economics at all.

Well, played, sir. Well Played. And the Ministry of Truth was in on it, or they were too busy being cheerleaders to care.

• They’ll hurt the cause of tax reform. By adding still more brackets to the tax code, Obama has made it harder to get needed tax changes enacted. His own deficit commission urged him to push for legislation that lowered tax rates and broadened the tax base to make the code simpler and spur economic growth.

Again, this wasn’t about the economy, it was about his ideology.

“Jar Jar” Boehner”: “You’ve managed to kill everyone else but like a poor marksman, you keep missing the target“-Admiral James Kirk of the USS Enterprise.

This chess, not poker. Obama is not bluffing and can’t be bluffed. This is ideology, not economics.

Charles Krauthammer: the ultimatum was designed to exploit and exacerbate internal Republican divisions. It worked perfectly. Boehner’s attempted finesse (Plan B), which would have raised rates but only for those making more than $1 million, collapsed amid an open rebellion from a good quarter of the Republican caucus.

At which point, power passed from the House to the Senate, where a deal was brokered. By the time the Senate bill reached the House, there was no time or room for maneuver. Checkmate. Obama neutralized the one body that had stymied him during the last two years.

2) Ideological Breakthrough.

Obama’s ultimate ambition is to break the nation’s 30-year thrall of low taxes — so powerful that those who defied the Reaganite norm paid heavily for it. Walter Mondale’s acceptance speech at the 1984 convention promising to raise taxes ended his campaign before it began. President George H.W. Bush’s no-new-taxes reversal cost him a second term.

On this, too, Obama is succeeding.

He not only got his tax increase passed. He did it with public opinion behind him.

Why are higher taxes so important to him?

First, as a means: A high-tax economy is liberalism’s only hope for sustaining and enlarging the entitlement state. It provides the funds for enlightened adventures in everything from algae to ObamaCare.

Second, as an end in itself. Fundamentally, Obama is a leveler. The community organizer seeks, above all, to reverse the growing inequality that he attributes to ruthless-Reaganism. Now, however, clothed in the immense powers of the presidency, he can actually engage in unadorned redistributionism. As in Tuesday night’s $620 billion wealth transfer.

Upon losing the House in 2010, the leveler took cover for the next two years. He wasn’t going to advance his real agenda through the Republican House anyway, and he needed to win re-election.

Now he’s won. The old Obama is back. He must not be underestimated. He’s deftly leveraged his class-war-themed election victory (a) to secure a source of funding (albeit still small) for the bloated welfare state, (b) to carry out an admirably candid bit of income redistribution and (c) to fracture the one remaining institutional obstacle to his ideological agenda.

Not bad for two months’ work.

The Republicans are still playing the wrong game.

Thomas Purcell: Right after the financial deal package was sent to Congress this week, the President held a press conference on the bill.

I say press conference on the bill, but I mean it only in the loosest sense of word, it was more like a campaign speech. Except, of course, he isn’t running for office. Because he isn’t running for office I can only really apply one answer for it: a propaganda speech.

Since he didn’t take any questions or mention any detail of the packaged bill I have to assume he was just trying to tell the American people how great he was.

He even used people as cardboard cut-out props to sell his agenda to applauding sheep. Dictators, tyrants and false gods use the same technique. To make their case to the people they stand in crowd of people who support him and show that world the he is loved, he is right and therefore, he ideas must the right ones.
Obama used the same technique during the Obamacare debates. A mob of fronted people stood around them, and even wore white labs coats. It looked like Trident commercial, ‘3 out 4 doctors approve of this bill’. Only problem was the real doctors who are out in field every day don’t support the bill at all. In fact, several doctors in the white lab coats behind Obama that day have offices that are private pay only, and don’t accept Medicare.
And the mass retirement that’s coming will be very painful for the people, but not for the politicians and certainly not for our Dear Leader.

One has to assume that the people props used for the fiscal cliff bill are as phony as the supposed deal signed up on the Hill. Certainly in a few days word is going to get out who they are and it’s certain they will be as phony as the President. More than likely they will be party leaders, political hacks and willful stooges.
The President has yet to answer for this blatantly propagandist technique worthy of a second rate used car salesman. None of the White House press corps asked an obvious question; who are these people and how did they get here so quickly. After all, those people had to be ready on moment’s notice, so they had to be interviewed and pre-screened by the Secret Service and had a background check on them. Those sorts of things can’t be done in a few hours; it takes a few days at least. Therefore it meant the President planned that ‘spontaneous’ press conference ahead of time.

So much for honesty and transparency in the Presidency.

It seems that no one wants to, or no one has the courage to, ask these questions. More importantly, no one bothers to ask the President why he feels the need to do so. Is it merely propaganda for the willing masses to gobble up with a spoon, a self-aggrandizement to soothe his ever flagging ego? Or is it more sinister, a prelude to his trying to manipulate the voters again into giving him power in the 2014 elections, or worse, somehow finagling a third – or more – term.
The Ministry of Truth isn’t there to ASK him questions, they are there to make him look like a God. Nothing more, nothing less.

It begs more questions than it answers, and the answers to questions don’t bode well for the American people regardless of what they might be.

It’s a Pyrrhic victory for the people, but since, for Obama, this wasn’t an economic fight but a Political Victory expect him to go to the well again and expect yet another Crisis that must not go to waste. And expect the Republicans to cave again.

Meanwhile, your tired, your poor, your huddled masses will be stuck with high taxes and even higher inflation and debt.

Now that’s a victory worth celebrating! 🙂

Problem Solving- Obama Style

Political Cartoons by Michael Ramirez

In 2007, then-senator Barack Obama insisted that the coming presidential primary- and general-election campaigns “shouldn’t be about making each other look bad, they should be about figuring out how we can all do some good for this precious country of ours. That’s our mission.”

“And in this mission,” he continued, “our rivals won’t be one another, and I would assert it won’t even be the other party. It’s going to be cynicism that we’re fighting against.”

My how things have changed. 🙂

I guess I missed the moment when Obama hung his “Mission Accomplished” banner. Because from where I’m sitting, it looks more like the president not only lost his battle against cynicism, he defected to the other side.

And don’t forget about the New Tone and “Civility”. The Democrats surely have.

Except inequality isn’t the cause of these problems, stagnating wages and unemployment are. But Obama wants to talk about inequality because it puts him on the convenient side of populist anger.
Sounding as if he were still running against George W. Bush, Obama laid the blame for our problems on the “most expensive tax cuts for the wealthy in history.” Of course, he leaves out that those tax cuts also went to the middle class.

“Some billionaires have a tax rate as low as 1 percent,” Obama barked. “That is the height of unfairness.” Except, when the Washington Post asked the White House for evidence to support the claim, an official confessed they “had no actual data to back up the president’s assertion.”

That’s okay. Who cares about the facts when you’re fighting to make America safe for cynicism again? (Jonah Goldberg)

So with that problem solved…we move onto the economy… 🙂

Political Cartoons by Eric Allie

Charles Krauthammer: The president has nothing to run on but crude populism.

In the first month of his presidency, Barack Obama averred that if in three years he hadn’t alleviated the nation’s economic pain, he’d be a “one-term proposition.”

When three-quarters of Americans think the country is on the “wrong track” and even Bill Clinton calls the economy “lousy,” how then to run for a second term? Traveling Tuesday to Osawatomie, Kan., site of a famous 1910 Teddy Roosevelt speech, Obama laid out the case.It seems that he and his policies have nothing to do with the current state of things. Sure, presidents are ordinarily held accountable for economic growth, unemployment, national indebtedness (see Obama, above). But not this time. Responsibility, you see, lies with the rich.

Or, as the philosophers of Zuccotti Park call them, the 1 percent. For Obama, these rich are the ones holding back the 99 percent. The “breathtaking greed of a few” is crushing the middle class. If only the rich paid their “fair share,” the middle class would have a chance. Otherwise, government won’t have enough funds to “invest” in education and innovation, the golden path to the sunny uplands of economic growth and opportunity.

Aka, spend even more! 🙂

Where to begin? A country spending twice as much per capita on education as it did in 1970 with zero effect on test scores is not underinvesting in education. It’s mis-investing. As for federally directed spending on innovation — like Solyndra? Ethanol? The preposterously subsidized, flammable Chevy Volt? (which only met 60% of its very underwhelming sales targets to begin with)

Our current economic distress is attributable to myriad causes: globalization, expensive high-tech medicine, a huge debt burden, a burst housing bubble largely driven by precisely the egalitarian impulse that Obama is promoting (government aggressively pushing “affordable housing” that turned out to be disastrously unaffordable), an aging population straining the social safety net. Yes, growing inequality is a problem throughout the Western world. But Obama’s pretense that it is the root cause of this sick economy is ridiculous.

As is his solution, that old perennial: selective abolition of the Bush tax cuts. As if all that ails us, all that keeps the economy from humming and the middle class from advancing, is a 4.6-point hike in marginal tax rates for the rich.

Yes, Democrats really do think this is the devil. Then they propose a tax cut that will cost billions and will make the already bankrupt Social Security debt EVEN WORSE (this would be the payroll tax- the one that funds Social Security to begin with – so if it is getting even less money pour down that rat hole the debt rats are going to get even bigger!)

Oh, and the Democrats were going to pay for this by…<<drumroll>> increasing taxes on rich people!! Ta Da!

So wreck play class warfare (“you can’t possibly be against it”) cause even more  Social Security debt (so it will have to be bailed out) and raise taxes on the rich all at the same time. What a smorgasbord of liberal hate and fear! They love it!

This, in a country $15 trillion in debt with out-of-control entitlements systematically starving every other national need. This obsession with a sock-it-to-the-rich tax hike that, at most, would have reduced this year’s deficit from $1.30 trillion to $1.22 trillion is the classic reflex of reactionary liberalism — anything to avoid addressing the underlying structural problems, which would require modernizing the totemic programs of the New Deal and Great Society.

And no liberal can do that. They are the two of the 3 Holy Grails of Liberalism (ObamaCare being the third- being able to control who lives and who dies).

It’s just not “fair”. 🙂

And if you just give it more time it’ll work (The New Deal is around 80 years old BTW) 🙂

As for those structural problems, Obama has spent three years on signature policies that either ignore or aggravate them:

A massive stimulus, a gigantic payoff to Democratic interest groups (such as teachers and public-sector unions) that will add nearly $1 trillion to the national debt.

A sweeping federally run reorganization of health care that (a) cost Congress a year, (b) created an entirely new entitlement in a nation hemorrhaging from unsustainable entitlements, (c) introduced new levels of uncertainty into an already stagnant economy.

High-handed regulation, best exemplified by Obama’s failed cap-and-trade legislation, promptly followed by an EPA trying to impose the same conventional-energy-killing agenda by administrative means.

Moreover, one issue that already enjoys a bipartisan consensus — the need for fundamental reform of a corrosive, corrupted tax code that misdirects capital and promotes unfairness — Obama did nothing, ignoring the recommendations of several bipartisan commissions, including his own.

In Kansas, Obama lamented that millions “are now forced to take their children to food banks.” You have to admire the audacity. That’s the kind of damning observation the opposition brings up when you’ve been in office three years. Yet Obama summoned it to make the case for his reelection!

Why? Because, you see, he bears no responsibility for the current economic distress. It’s the rich. And, like Horatius at the bridge, Obama stands with the American masses against the soulless plutocrats.

And the Republicans are strictly FOR the same plutocrats so if you hate them, you hate Republicans!

Thus, “Vote for me! the other guy’s an asshole!” 🙂

This is populism so crude that it channels not Teddy Roosevelt so much as Hugo Chávez. But with high unemployment, economic stagnation, and unprecedented deficits, what else can Obama say?

He can’t run on stewardship. He can’t run on policy. His signature initiatives — the stimulus, Obamacare, and the failed cap-and-trade — will go unmentioned in his campaign ads. Indeed, they will be the stuff of Republican ads.

What’s left? Class resentment. Got a better idea?

And Racism. I can’t wait for that one again… 😦

Problem solved.

Lost Balloonist
A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her
altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him,
“Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don’t know where I am.”

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, “You’re in a hot air balloon,
approximately 30 feet above ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

She rolled her eyes and said, “You must be a Republican.
“I am,” replied the man. “How did you know?”

“Well,” answered the balloonist, “everything you told me is technically correct.
But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I’m still lost.
Frankly, you’ve not been much help to me.”

The man smiled and responded, “You must be an Obama-Democrat.”
“I am,” replied the balloonist. “How did you know?”

“Well,” said the man, “you don’t know where the hell you are — or where the
hell you are going. You’ve risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of
hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem.
You’re in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it’s my fault.” 🙂  — Thanks to one of the readers of this blog for this gem.

P R I C E L E S S !

According to a new study and commentary, the reformed Medicare program under Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act <http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=316121> amounts to little more than a grand Ponzi scheme to benefit seniors, costing young Americans – who voted overwhelmingly for Obama in 2008 – more than $100,000 apiece over and above benefits received in their lifetimes.

John Goodman, president and founder of the National Center for Policy Analysis <http://www.ncpa.org/>, breaks down the numbers in a blog post <http://healthblog.ncpa.org/is-medicare-a-good-deal/> summarizing a study on the effects <http://www.ncpa.org/pdfs/st333.pdf> of the recently passed reform act, often called “Obamacare.”

Goodman explains that even if Medicare avoids the bankruptcy many pundits are predicting, a typical 25-year-old will pay in premiums, payroll taxes and income taxes supporting Medicare an extra $111,000 over and above the cost of benefits he or she would receive from the program. Typical 85-year-olds, however, can expect to receive $55,000 in insurance benefits <http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=316121> over and above what they pay into the system

“A typical 85-year-old is going to get back $2.69 in benefits for every dollar paid into the system in the form of premiums and taxes – a good deal by any measure.

People turning 65 today don’t do nearly as well – they get back $1.25 for every dollar they pay in.

The average worker under age 50 loses under the system – with a 45-year-old getting back only 95 cents on the dollar.

That’s better than the deal 25-year-olds get, however; they can expect to get back 75 cents for every dollar they contribute.

Gee, no one saw that coming…. 🙂

You might recognize the White House talking points some Democrats have borrowed in the debt ceiling negotiations: taxes need to be raised on “millionaires and billionaires” and “oil companies raking in billions in profits.”

And often that means repealing the Bush-era tax cuts. But is that an obsession?

On Monday’s “The Laura Ingraham Show,” CNBC host Larry Kudlow observed that it might be. However, he warned that his crystal ball is telling the outlook isn’t so good.

“You know, we had a bad release this morning, very bad – consumer spending and incomes,” Kudlow said. “Real consumer spending has actually now fallen for the second straight month. And after taxes and after inflation, what’s called ‘real disposable income’ — is falling. What you got here is another 2-percent quarter coming up. This whole first half looks like 2-percent growth, GDP – which is pretty poor, 4 percent inflation, 9.1 percent unemployment. I mean, it really is a dismal picture and Washington policies are not helping.”

Kudlow explained the answer isn’t higher taxes in a weak economy and even those that tout Keynesian economics would agree with that. But he also said high inflation looms.

“I mean look, do I read this right – the Democrats in all the debt negotiations want to raise taxes in this kind of economy,” Kudlow said. “What am I missing here? I don’t care whether you’re a Keynesian or a supply-sider, or whatever. You don’t want to be raising taxes when the economy is completely sputtering and the inflation rate is picking up by the way, thanks to [Federal Reserve Chairman Ben] Bernanke. So it’s not a good picture.”

The best solution “The Kudlow Report” host said was a plan with spending cuts and changing tax rates. But he reiterated a point he had made on his Saturday radio show, which he question the Democratic Party’s seeming obsession over ending the Bush tax cuts.

“I mean, why not – a nice simple plan, significant spending cuts to deal with the debt problem,” Kudlow said. “And then at the same time, slash the business tax rate to 15 percent, with no deductions and stop all of this rhetoric about ending the Bush tax cuts, particularly for the small business owners and the most successful earners. I have never seen — the Democratic Party has an obsession over the Bush tax cuts. It’s like, whatever the problem is they repeal the tax cuts. It’s like they need a 12-step program to deal with their obsession and anger over the Bush tax cuts. So why not just lower spending, lower taxing coming out of these debt talks? That would provide some confidence and some incentives. That would help.” (DC)

START DADT DREAM & Big Sis Too!

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

Any time you kill a bloated, $1.27 trillion spending bill that includes more than 6,000 earmarks worth $8 billion, it’s a good day’s work. But as far as this lame-duck Congress is concerned, the work isn’t done.

And a bloated trillion dollar monster escaped.

As this is written, Reid and his congressional allies are trying to force votes on the Dream Act; the New START treaty; “don’t ask, don’t tell”; and a massive environmental bill — all in the final days of the year if not this very weekend before Christmas.

Got to get in that last Lame Duck Poison. Gotta push on and get as much of it injected as possible.

Screw the people. This is THE AGENDA we are talking about.

And nothing on earth is more important than THE AGENDA!

As a final insult to American voters, and virtually unnoticed by the media, Reid & Co. have rolled some 100 separate environmental bills into one — creating a giant land and private-property grab that again will have consequences well beyond the here and now.

Reid hasn’t even allowed this omnibus measure to be debated. And yet, as Landon Zida reported on the Heritage Foundation’s blog, the bill would “designate hundreds of thousands of acres of land under the control of federal government.” And all of it, as columnist Michelle Malkin has noted, with virtually no input. (IBD)

CRAM IT DOWN! CRAM IT DOWN! CRAM IT DOWN!

THE AGENDA UBER ALLES!!

The Democrats Christmas (politically incorrect)…Holiday Gift to all is to disarm our country against it’s enemies, give amnesty to illegals and to cram gays down your throat (even if you think the whole thing is silly) because these are the most important things in the universe to Liberals– THE AGENDA!

And they must get them in before Mommy & Daddy come home on Jan 5th and force them to clean up the mess they’ve made, kicking and screaming that it was someone else’s fault!

Meanwhile, Big Sis who’s I-can-see-you-naked Scanner have scientifically been proven to be incapable of detecting things like GUNS and a Border Patrol agent is killed by Mexican drug dealers on our own soil she’s gone all Al Gore!

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced that her department is creating a new task force to battle the effects of climate change on domestic security operations.

Speaking at the first White House Forum on Environmental Justice on Thursday, Napolitano discussed the initial findings of the department’s recently created “Climate Change and Adaptation Task Force.”

Napolitano explained that the task force was charged with “identifying and assessing the impact that climate change could have on the missions and operations of the Department of Homeland Security.” (CNS)

The all day White House Forum on Environmental Justice also included talks by White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley, EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, Attorney General Eric Holder, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.

But don’t worry, they don’t have an AGENDA! 🙂

The two scientists most responsible for the development magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines used in hospitals have reached the conclusion that these currently deployed contraptions are not effective at preventing terrorists from carrying explosives aboard aircraft.

Basically, Leon Kaufman and Joseph W. Carlson, described as the “scientific genius” behind the MRIs, claim that TSA and the manufactureres, in order to show effectiveness, have biased the studies and left out known limitations of the machines.

Mr. Kaufman and Mr. Carlson showed less restraint in a peer-reviewed article posted online Nov. 26 by The Journal of Transportation Security. They created a computer model to simulate scanner operation and conclude an Islamic terrorist could easily sneak a large quantity of explosives past the device. “It is very likely that a large (15-20 cm in diameter), irregularly-shaped, cm-thick pancake with beveled edges, taped to the abdomen, would be invisible to this technology, ironically, because of its large volume, since it is easily confused with normal anatomy,” the study explains.

The researchers pointed out that the manufacturers of airport scanners positioned contraband like guns, knives and drugs in unnatural ways to conceal the limitations of their device. For example, the simulated drugs are always packed into tight rectangles that show up distinctly on the machine. TSA employees would have a far more difficult time spotting less tidy terrorists. “The eye is a good signal averager at certain spatial frequencies, but it is doubtful that an operator can be trained to detect these differences unless the material is hard-edged, not too large and regular shaped,” Mr. Kaufman and Mr. Carlson wrote.

Theirs is not the only such study. Last March the government’s own GAO reported that it was “unclear” whether airport scanners would have detected Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s botched Christmas Day underwear bombing attempt.

As TSA begins to touch more and more Americans in ways that they feel “ain’t right,” and more whole body scanners are deployed, the concerns of the public will increase. Even TSA officials admit that less that 10 percent of the flying public have faced a whole body scanner or an enhanced pat-down and there is already an uproar.

Add to that, radiation questions that are sure to emerge from these latest investigations and scientific evidence that the whole body scanner billion-dollar contraptions can’t spot a reasonably well-hidden bomb and TSA is going to have a growing problem.

But at least they can see yours! 🙂

And the Border will be made safe from Global Warming Threats!

And those nasty old Russians, Chinese and North Koreans won’t have to worry about our big stick because we’ll emasculate ourselves for them! Isn’t that nice of us.

But at at least we’ll have openly gay people in the military.

After all, that’s what’s MORE IMPORTANT.

All Hail THE AGENDA!!

Pelosi’s Last Stand

Political Cartoon by Eric Allie

The House, under Queen Pelosi, continues with it symbolic Lame Duck Poison and Show.

They passed the soak the rich “middle class tax cut” (which wasn’t actually a cut) TWICE but they failed miserably in the Senate.

But it made their base happy. Especially, since they are so mad at the Heresy committed by their God, Obama. Who, even he, called Republicans “terrorists” and “hostage takers”.

The rhetoric hasn’t changed.

Now comes Amnesty in the middle of the night.

Less than 24 hours after the House carved out a path to legalization for hundreds of thousands of foreign-born youngsters brought to this country illegally, their hopes of legal status are likely to be dashed in the Senate.

Democrats face an uphill climb to gather the 60 votes needed in a vote expected Thursday to advance the so-called Dream Act over opposition by most Republicans and a handful of their own members.

The House passed the legislation Wednesday night after Democratic leaders painstakingly lined up the votes to push it through.

You don’t want to be mean to kids who were brought here by their illegal parents now do you? You meanie!! 😦

YES

Ever heard of the Sins of the Father are visited upon the Sons? (or daughters)?

Their Parents are still illegal. They are still illegal.

And do you really think that if the Democrats get their foot in the door they won’t take your whole legs off and then go for the jugular?

Really?

NO.

But a lot of this is symbolic and just red meat to their base. See we kept our promises. Sure we waited until the very last minute when it was far too late to actually pass it into law but we tried. And you have to gives us props for the media show. You see we care…

That’s kind of like General Custer at Little Big Horn as he’s dying saying, yeah I lost But I won the battle of symbolism!!

Obama Wimps Out

I guess it’s time to have the government pay me for 3 years to not work and then there’s, Welfare and food stamps and mortgage assistance.

So as long as I have no self-respect I can live off all you suckers for 3 years and expecting the government to cut me off, heh, yeah that’s likely. 🙂

And besides, the Democrats think that unemployment stimulates the economy so wouldn’t I be doing the economy more good that all this 40-hour work week grind? 🙂

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

Why are so many jobs going begging when so many Americans are begging for jobs? Because many don’t have to take them — thanks in part to 99 weeks and counting of unemployment benefits.

Add to that record food stamp payments and other welfare, and the unemployed have been perversely incentivized to keep holding out for better jobs, rather than take less-than-desirable or lower-paying ones. Until their benefits start running out, many long-term unemployed are in no rush to take another job. They can pass on offers requiring long commutes or relocation.

The latest job vacancy numbers bear this out.

At the end of October, there were 3.4 million job openings — a 12% increase from September and a 32% jump from a year earlier.

Since the recession’s end in July 2009, openings have soared 44%. This defies previous post-recession trends. Normally the job vacancy rate goes down after a recession, as the job market stabilizes. But millions of jobs are going unfilled now — especially in heavily unionized industries, such as manufacturing, education and health care.

Since President Obama’s stimulus extended federal jobless benefits, and bribed states to do the same, the median duration of unemployment has nearly tripled, hitting 26 weeks this summer.

Fully a third of full-time workers have been unemployed for 52 weeks or more, while 47% of jobless Americans have been out of work for at least 27 weeks — the highest since the government began keeping records in the 1940s.

Studies show extending jobless benefits — which now pay people 50% to 60% of their previous wage to stay home for two years — just ends up subsidizing more unemployment.

“When you subsidize something, you get more of it,” Cato Institute economist Alan Reynolds observes.

Bruce Meyer of the University of Chicago and Lawrence Katz of Harvard found that “a one-week increase in potential benefit duration increases the average duration of the unemployment spells by 0.16 to 0.20 weeks.”

This flies in the face of White House claims. In urging Congress to extend jobless benefits another 13 months, it argues they help stimulate the economy and that without them, the unemployment picture would darken.

About 2 million unemployed workers will run out of benefits this month if they’re not renewed. The White House figures 7 million will be affected if payments aren’t extended for a year.

If the administration gets its way, the so-called “99ers” will become 155ers and keep the nation’s high jobless rate artificially elevated. Studies show longer unemployment translates to higher unemployment. University of Chicago economist Robert Shimer estimates that generous jobless benefits alone account for as much as 1.5 points of our 9.8% jobless rate.

“The relatively small numbers of newly unemployed are added to stubbornly large numbers of those who lost their jobs more than six months ago,” says Reynolds.

Washington ought to learn from Sweden, one of the few European nations to lower unemployment. After suffering chronically high joblessness in the 1990s, it cut the duration for its generous jobless benefits — and watched as the jobless rate plunged.

If our own unemployment remains elevated, it’s because Democrats at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue insisted on extending unemployment and welfare benefits. (IBD)

Well, since the government wants to take my money I might as well get a return on the investment…
And after all, we work for them, don’t we… 🙂

Dem Injuns are Angry,Sir!

Political Cartoon by Steve Kelley

“The president’s heart is in the right place,” Sanders said. But “I think he has not fully understood that the American people are prepared for a fight. The American people do not want to give tax cuts to billionaires.”–Sen. Bernie Sanders (Socialist-VT).

So how many times do you have to tell Democrats that if the tax cuts expire your taxes go UP, but if they stay you’re taxes go NOWHERE. They don’t go down at all.

Probably until the end of time.

After all, what’s been gored here is the most sacred cow of the Progressive Liberal Left – Class Warfare. There is nothing more sacrosanct to the far left than Class Warfare.

And their own God has committed Heresy and struck a pact with the Devil’s minions, The Republicans. Nothing could violate the religion of Class Warfare more than this.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.) was among those who emerged unconvinced. “I’m just staggered by the enormity of this package,” she said.

But not “staggered” by Health Care, Finanacial Reform, Bailouts, and 4 Trillion in spending in 2 years. No. This “staggers” her. 🙂

And NOW the Democrats are worried about spending, when it gores their sacred cow.

Now that’s partisan politics for you.

“I understand the desire for a fight. I’m sympathetic to that. I’m as opposed to the high-end tax cuts today as I’ve been for years,” he said. “But in the meantime, I’m not here to play games with the American people or the health of our economy.”-President Obama

And besides I may get some people to believe I’ve changed and I’m more “moderate” now.

This leopard hasn’t changed his spots. He just saw the train coming at the end of the tunnel and he blinked.

Better to look like he chose “the people” over the “the party” because he can spend the next year convincing them he’s still their guy while looking better for his re-election to independents and moderates.

Remember, it’s always about him and no one else.

Democrats were cool by comparison. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) ignored the deal in a statement that lambasted Republicans, saying they have “held the middle class hostage for provisions that benefit only the wealthiest 3 percent.” She concluded tersely, “We will continue discussions with the president and our caucus in the days ahead.”

The President better check his seat for explosives and his drinks for poison. Pelosi as Brutus? 🙂

“This is only a framework. It’s up to the Congress to pass it,” Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.) said after the Biden meeting. The Senate could take up the package next week. But, Reid said, “I think we’re going to have to do some more work on it.”

Like gut the whole thing and re-do it as a Class Warfare document, maybe even ADD some taxes in their for “the rich”.

And when that doesn’t pass and Congress goes home having done absolutely nothing about the issue at all, the smug little Democrats can feel their superiority swell as EVERYONE’s TAXES go up, even the lower and middle classes.

The question really is, do they have the balls for it.

The Representatives and The Senators up for re-election in 2012 who would be BBQ’d for this in their re-elections?

So do they want to kiss their asses goodbye so soon?

Good Question.

I suppose we’ll find out very soon who blinks first, Reid-Pelosi or Obama-Republicans.

The Lame Duck Grudge Match is on.

So much for “bi-partisan”. 🙂

“This President negotiates down from a position of strength better than any politician in our recent history,” –Uber Progressive Leftist MSDNC’s Keith Olbermann.

It took him this long to figure that out?

Putin, Ahmadinejad ,Kim Jon Ill, Hugo Chavez, et al  had that figured out long ago.

But Olbermann reserved his greatest ire for what he perceived as the administration’s arrogant and dismissive attitude towards the base of the Democratic party.

Well, he’s already done it to the American People in general, so why not just redistribute the wealth. 🙂

And of course, Mr. President how we totally betrayed your Administration by not concluding our prayers every night by saying “Thank you for preventing another Great Depression, you are entitled to skate along on your own wonderfulness indefinitely and if you get less than you could have on health care reform or taxes, well, that’ll be okay, we’re happy to pay $10,000 for a $300 car because hey, it could’ve been $20,000, right? And because we only expect you to do one thing correctly during a presidency and you had pretty much cleared that obligation when it proved that you were, indeed, not John McCain.”

Olbermann, Axe. Scalp. White House. Now. Kimosabe!! 🙂

The Democrats: the Party of  OH NO YOU DON’T! 🙂

YES WE CAVE! 🙂

UPDATE ON OBAMACARE WAIVERS

The Obama Administration has quietly granted even more waivers to one provision of the new federal health reform law, doubling the number in just the last three weeks to a new total of 222.

One of the more recognizable business names included on the newly-expanded list of waivers issued by the feds is that of Waffle House, which received a waiver on November 23 for health coverage that covers 3,947 enrollees.

Another familiar name was that of Universal Orlando, which runs a variety of very popular resorts in the Orlando, Florida area.  Universal was given a waiver for plans that cover 668 workers.

This plan which was so great, just gets better doesn’t it folks. 🙂

The only people in the end who won’t be exempt will be the average individual American.

Yeah, it’s great. 😦
