RINO Rubio

The Establishment Candidate, Marco Rubio. Their Last Great Hope for NO Change.

John Hawkins: Marco Rubio may not be a squish on most issues, but it doesn’t change the fact that his Gang-of-8 Amnesty Bill is unforgivable.

I know I haven’t forgiven him for it. Or forgotten.

You want a Minority and Conservative, Ted Cruz is your guy. Not this Pseudo-When-I-Need-to-Get-Elected one.

Nobody would be campaigning harder against Marco Rubio today than Marco Rubio back in 2010 when he desperately needed to convince Tea Partiers he was tough on immigration to get elected. You could write a whole article on how bad Rubio’s bill was (In fact, I did), but let me cut to the chase for you.

A)Rubio’s sell-out on immigration was the biggest betrayal of conservatives since George Bush’s dad said, “Read my lips, no new taxes” and then raised taxes. How do you trust Rubio on any issue after he so blatantly lied on immigration? Rubio running for President today is like Benedict Arnold running for President in 1788.

California has 605,000 Illegal Voters!! Just in California. They are Illegal because the Liberals gave them Driver’s Licenses. And what do you need to Vote? And gee, weho are they going to vote for??

Now spread that Nationwide!

You get what I’ve been saying for years about Illegal Immigration.

B) The Gang-of-8 Bill was little more than a Democrat wish list with a couple of bells and whistles slapped on to give cover for squishy Republicans to support it as well. The bill legalized illegals before adding in any kind of security and despite Rubio’s dishonest hype, it would have done little to secure the border. Between giving citizenship to illegal aliens and massive increases in legal immigration, Rubio’s bill would have demographically marginalized conservatism in America.

If Rubio becomes President and implements something like his Gang-of-8 Bill, then liberals will be destined to win in the future on every issue that matters. I’m not someone who believes you win in politics by losing, but it’s entirely possible that 4-8 years of Hillary Clinton decimating the country and stacking the Supreme Court would do far less damage to the country than the immigration plan Marco Rubio would likely implement if he becomes President.

C) Rubio’s excuses for his betrayal are ridiculous. Oh, we have ISIS now; so we have to secure the border. Well, we had Al-Qaeda then. Stopping that terrorist organization from getting across the border wasn’t important? Rubio also claims that he gave the Democrats almost everything they wanted in hopes that the House would improve the bill. In other words, Rubio was willing to turn the Senate bill into little more than Barack Obama’s wish list in hopes that John Boehner of all people would negotiate a tough conservative plan? You’d have to be dumber than Meghan McCain to believe that the same guy who caved every time he went up against Obama was going to come up with a great bill after Rubio made him negotiate from a position of weakness. In actuality, Rubio was hoping the pro-amnesty leadership of the House would ignore the Hastert rule and would push an immigration bill through with a few moderate Republicans and all the Democrats helping out. When a guy shoves a knife in your back that deeply and won’t even come clean about it, how do you trust him?

D) Even today, Rubio fully admits that he wants to give citizenship to illegal aliens – and that’s during a Presidential race. You really think that sounds like someone who is going to get tough on illegal immigration or build a wall if he gets elected? Keep in mind that if Rubio becomes President and is perfect in every other way, but is lying on illegal immigration again, it means the end of the conservative movement in America. Choosing him as our nominee would be like playing Russian Roulette with 5 bullets in the chamber.

Of course, the Republicans in the establishment are happy to play that game and have decided that “Lil Jeb” is their chosen candidate.

So it’s onto Marco.
MARCO!
RINO!
MARCO!
RINO!

In large part, that’s because they expect him to betray conservatives on amnesty again, but it’s also because they don’t believe Rubio will shake things up too much.

He won’t. He’ll be passive aggressive with the Democrats and give them alot of what they want because he doesn’t want to rock the boat too much, like most RINOs.

They don’t think he’ll roll back Obamacare, they don’t think he’ll kick any connected consultants off the gravy train, they don’t believe he’ll listen to those “wackobirds” that John McCain hates so much. After the most radical President in American history has stomped all over the Constitution for 8 years to drag the country to the Left, is it worth risking the country on someone backed by the establishment Republicans because they believe he’s a go-along-to-get-along status quo candidate?

 HELL NO!

Oh, but the establishment Republicans say Rubio is the most electable candidate. Of course, that’s what they always say about whoever their golden boy happens to be. It’s what they said about Dole, McCain and Romney. They were wrong about them and they’re wrong about Rubio, too.

“electable” is code word for acceptable loss.

Don’t get the wrong idea. Rubio could certainly win, but he probably wouldn’t be as electable as Cruz or God help us all, even Kasich despite his solid head-to-head numbers against Hillary.

Or even Trump.

Why?

Keep in mind that Rubio can’t win a general election unless he gets the support of the 30-35% of GOP voters that currently support Donald Trump. Do you really think that after supporting Trump for months, those voters are going to fall in line behind an establishment candidate who is best known for betraying the people who supported him to push amnesty and open borders?

The Establishment thinks so.

Moreover, consider the fact that 60% of GOP voters have consistently been going for the outsider candidates (Trump, Cruz and Carson). Do you really think all those people are going to shrug off this entire crazy primary season and eat the same old crap sandwich from the establishment again?

Nope. But that’s an acceptable loss if The Establishment keeps it’s power.

Beyond that, although Rubio is generally a solid debater, he turned in one of the worst debate performances anyone has seen with his “Robot Rubio” performance. What if it happens again in a general election debate? He’s also generally very scripted, inauthentic and his pathetic non-response to every genuine attack on his record is , “That’s a lie.” Furthermore, maybe we should consider the fact that a candidate who wants the NSA to snoop on our phone records, showed terrible judgment in supporting the overthrow of Libya and who comes off like he can’t wait to get in another ground war in the Middle East isn’t going to be wildly popular with the American electorate in 2016.

It has been an unpredictable election season and we still don’t know who the GOP nominee will be. However, if it turns out to be a guy who did the same thing to conservatives on immigration that Jane Fonda did to the troops during Vietnam, the Republican Party will richly deserve to lose.

Just like this story from our “more secure than ever” border and  don’t you criticize us you border wall demanding racist pigs.

HIDALGO, Texas — A convicted burglar from Mexico with a history of repeated felony convictions and deportations is back in Texas. Arturo Oleague Martinez, 48, was arrested by federal agents last week at the county jail in this border city and taken before a U.S. Magistrate Judge. He was charged with one count of illegally re-entering the country.

Magistrate Judge Peter Ormsby ordered that Oleague Martinez be held without bond for his court hearings.

Oleague Martinez had been last deported in November through Del Rio, Texas, after serving a 42 month prison sentence for being entering the country illegally while having a prior felony conviction, the criminal complaint filed by U.S. Border Patrol agents revealed.

State court records, from the border county of Hidalgo, revealed that in addition to multiple immigration violations since 1985, Oleague Martinez has been convicted on five different charges connected to burglaries of homes and businesses and a separate charge for burglarizing a car.

Court records show that the man has spent most of the last 30 years in prison both federal and state facilities.

According to court records, Oleague Martinez entered the U.S. in August 17, through the border city of Laredo. As Breitbart Texas has reported in the past, Laredo doesn’t have a border fence and the border enforcement in that area is sorely lacking.

Laredo is the same border city where Mexican drug traffickers shot down a U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter, forcing the federal agency to begin using Blackhawk helicopters which are able to withstand small arms fire, Breitbart Texas reported.

That border city just north of the border from Nuevo Laredo, the stronghold of the hyper-violent Los Zetas criminal organization, who according to various law enforcement sources consulted By Breitbart Texas control with an iron grip the human smuggling and the drug trafficking.

So long before #6?

Or am I just being my “racist” little self… 🙂

President Barack Obama says House Republicans are trying to pass the most extreme and unworkable version of an immigration bill even though they know the bill isn’t going anywhere.

Republicans pushed legislation through Friday evening in the House that could clear the way for eventual deportation of more than 500,000 immigrants brought here illegally as kids and address the surge of immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Obama says Republicans know that legislation won’t succeed in the Senate. He says Republicans aren’t even trying to solve the problem. He says they’re just trying check a box leaving town for their annual August recess.

(The Senate left town in a hurry because they really wanted to “deal” with situation themselves! and that has to be The Republican’s fault!)

So stop trying to do things your way and just do it our way OR ELSE!

Just like on Religion, where you evil christian bastards just want to muck everything up for the rest of us…

Government’s assault on religious liberty has hit a new low as the IRS settles with atheists by promising to monitor sermons for mentions of the right to life and traditional marriage.

A lawsuit filed by the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) asserted that the Internal Revenue Service ignored complaints about churches’ violating their tax-exempt status by routinely promoting political issues, legislation and candidates from the pulpit.

The FFRF has temporarily withdrawn its suit in return for the IRS’s agreement to monitor sermons and homilies for proscribed speech that the foundation believes includes things like condemnation of gay marriage and criticism of ObamaCare for its contraceptive mandate.

The irony of this agreement is that it’s being enforced by the same Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division of the IRS that was once headed by Lois “Fifth Amendment” Lerner and that openly targeted Tea Party and other conservative groups.

Among the questions that the IRS asked of those targeted groups was the content of their prayers.

Those who objected to the monitoring of what is said and done in mosques for signs of terrorist activity have no problem with this one, though monitoring what’s said in houses of worship is a clear violation of the First Amendment. Can you say “chilling effect”?

Congress can make no laws prohibiting the free exercise of religion. So it’s not clear where the IRS gets off doing just that by spying on religious leaders lest they comment on issues and activities by government that are contrary to or impose on their religious consciences. Our country was founded by people fleeing this kind of government-monitored and mandated theology last practiced in the Soviet Union.

The FFRF cites as its authority the 1954 Johnson Amendment, which states that tax-exempt groups cannot endorse candidates. A 2009 court ruling determined that the IRS must staff someone to monitor church politicking.

The FFRF claims that the IRS has not adhered to the ruling and that the settlement amounts to enforcing both the Johnson Amendment and the court ruling.

But is the Catholic Church “politicking” when it proclaims its “Fortnight for Freedom” dedicated to opposing ObamaCare’s contraceptive mandate and the government’s forcing schools and charities it considers an extension of its faith to include it in insurance coverage or face crippling fines?

Are Protestant and evangelical churches “politicking” when they participate in “Pulpit Freedom Sunday” this year on Oct. 5 to encourage congregations to “vote their faith,” which they consider to be an exercise of free speech and freedom of religion?

The FFRF says that such events at “rogue churches” have “become an annual occasion for churches to violate the law with impunity.” But doesn’t the Constitution say that Congress can make no such laws?

Rather than “rogue churches,” it’s the rogue IRS that needs to be stopped. (IBD)

Lies, Damn Lies, and Obama

Michael Ramirez Cartoon

In a press conference on Wednesday night, President Obama refused to acknowledge the fact that his “Dream Act,” as well as his 2012 Executive Order of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is what motivated this surge of illegal children. The President continued his normal pass the blame policy, putting the blame on the Republican lead House of Representatives for the problem because they have not passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill.

Specifically calling out the Texas delegation, President Obama pushed for his supplemental bill to be passed immediately with comprehensive reform to closely follow. (townhall)

DO IT MY WAY OR ELSE THE COUNTRY GETS IT!

This is the Alinsky Community Organizer in him. Overwhelm and crush your enemies into doing what you want them to do, leave them no choice.

Politics and The Agenda above all else.

I win, you lose.

All you need to do is look at the headlines out of Central America to see why tens of thousands of children are ending up at our border.

“In Columbia (sic), Rising Violence Breeds New Doubts” (N.Y. Times); “Guatemala Seen Slipping Into a Haven For Drugs” (LA Times); “Democracy Jeopardized as New Wave of Violence Sweeps Guatemala” (AP); “The Volcano That is Guatemala” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch); “A New Dark Age for Latin America?” (Miami Herald); “Murder Soars in El Salvador” (Washington Post); “Social Breakdown Turns Deadly in Guatemala” (Washington Post); “Roadside Rampage: Salvadoran Murders in Guatemala Raise Stake of Central American Drug-Addled Violence” (States News Service); “Drug Cartels Take Toll on Guatemala’s Politics” (Atlanta Journal-Constitution).

No wonder we have so many refugees at our door.

Except there’s one hitch: All of these headlines are very old. The first is from 1987, the last from 2007. And yet, over those two decades, we never saw anything like what we are seeing today.

Something else is going on. To be sure, this doesn’t mean that the children at the border aren’t fleeing horrible conditions, violence and poverty. But horrible conditions are not exactly new to Central America.

In other words the new variable isn’t what’s happening down there, it’s what’s happened up here.

President Obama has gotten a lot of grief from his base for being the “deporter-in-chief.” But the basis for this charge is rooted in some statistical sleight of hand that he uses on the stump to show that he’s tough on illegal immigration. President Obama likes to claim that he’s deported a lot of people. But he hasn’t. What he’s done is count people caught and turned around at the border as “deportations.” If previous administrations had counted thwarted illegal immigrants that way, Obama’s number of “deportations” from the border would likely still be much lower than other recent presidents. Meanwhile, as the Los Angeles Times reported in April, “expulsions of people who are settled and working in the United States have fallen steadily since his first year in office, and are down more than 40 percent since 2009.”

“If you are a run-of-the-mill immigrant here illegally, your odds of getting deported are close to zero — it’s just highly unlikely to happen,” John Sandweg, the former acting head of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told the Times.

Obama has been even more generous to the kids of illegal immigrants, sometimes called “dreamers.” He unilaterally — and some would say illegally — granted permanent resident status to any kids who’ve been living here a while and who came here under the age of 16. The same president who denounces his opponents for “playing politics” made that decision during an election year.

That’s not to say that those kids don’t deserve our sympathy or help. But the fact remains those decisions had consequences this administration was utterly unprepared to deal with.

Note: Failure to prepare is not synonymous with being surprised. Last year Border Patrol agents reported that 38,000 kids showed up at the border. Indeed, as of January, the administration expected that number to rise to 65,000.

Some of my friends on the right think the border crisis is some grand political scheme of Obama’s, that he in effect wants a border crisis. I think that’s wrong. Buffeted by scandals and the growing realization by large swaths of the public that he is out of his depth, the last thing he needed was this tragic spectacle on the border.

But that doesn’t mean this isn’t a crisis of his making, triggered by his tendency to think politics first and policy second. In economic terms, he thought he could lower the price of a very valuable good — legal residence in the U.S. — without seeing any rise in the demand. These immigrants aren’t fools. They’re responding rationally to new information; if you make it past the border, you can stay. If you’re a kid, all you have to do is make it to the border.

That’s why conservatives are wrong when they suggest more border guards will solve this crisis. The kids are turning themselves into the border guards. Adding more guards is like adding more staff to the reception desk at a hotel.

The president’s defenders would have us believe this is all a consequence of an anti-sex trafficking law passed by the Democrat-controlled Congress and signed by George W. Bush in 2008. And it’s true that the Wilberforce Act makes it more difficult to turn the buses around.

But the law didn’t cause the crisis, nor did violence in Central America. The cause comes from a president who puts politics first. (Jonah Goldberg)

THE AGENDA IS THE AGENDA

Under the heading “border security” on the White House website’s section on President Obama’s immigration proposal, the whitehouse.gov website gives the president credit for having “doubled the number of Border Patrol agents,” saying “today border security is stronger than it ever has been.”

The White House says the statement is true despite the estimated 52,000 unattended children who have crossed the southwest border so far this year and the roughly 90,000 expected by fall.

“Looking at the overall picture of the border, the Border Patrol is better staffed today than at any time in history,” White House deputy press secretary Shawn Turner told the Washington Examiner.

“We’ve doubled the number of agents nationwide … more agents providing more eyes across the border. If you look at the boots on the ground on the Southwest border, there’s been a 95 percent increase since 2004.” (examiner)

According to Border Patrol sources, violent MS-13 gang members are using the Nogales processing center in Arizona as a recruitment hub and as a transfer point for gang members to get into the United States.

MS-13 members are required to be processed by Border Patrol and then are handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, where they are often times placed inside the U.S. and given a court date. They rarely show up. By U.S. legal standards many gang members operating in Central American countries and traveling north are classified as minors due to being under the age of 18. However, many young males are actively engaged in violent cartel and criminal activity, yet are treated as children when processed through the Department of Health and Human Services or Department of Homeland Security systems. . Lawyering Up

More Racism At The Border

Faced with 60,000 unaccompanied children trying to cross the border illegally this year, President Obama on Monday declared it an “urgent humanitarian situation” and named a federal coordinator to make sure the children are cared for — but offered no new ideas for how to keep them from trying to enter.

These “unaccompanied alien children” are the latest hiccup for an administration that has asserted the border is secure, even as it struggles to balance enforcement with humanitarian concerns.

The White House signaled that, at least for now, it sees the flow of children — which it predicts will more than double in 2015 — as an issue to be managed rather than a problem to be fought.

“We are only talking about protecting these kids,” White House domestic policy adviser Cecilia Munoz told reporters who asked whether there were any bigger plans in the works to try to stem the flow. “These are children, and in many cases they are young children. They have just traveled from Central America to the U.S. alone.”

The children are among the toughest cases in the immigration debate.

And ignore the law in this case because it suits THE AGENDA!

Then shipping them to Arizona, just to rub our noses in it.

After all, if you object: You’re a heartless, family destroying, soul sucking, evil RACIST!  🙂

“Word has gotten out around the world about President Obama’s lax immigration enforcement policies, and it has encouraged more individuals to come to the United States illegally, many of whom are children from Central America,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte said in a statement.

RACIST!

The number of apprehensions in the Rio Grande Valley has shot up in recent years, with south Texas now the main gateway for illegal immigration along the southwest border with Mexico.

Could that be because of all the Racists! in Arizona who don’t make them feel welcomed?? 🙂

Administration officials stress that the children are put in deportation proceedings and said there’s never any guarantee they can stay in the U.S. The officials also said the children won’t be eligible for either the immigration bill that passed the Senate last year or Mr. Obama’s nondeportation policy for children, both of which had cutoff dates for eligibility.

But the children can lodge claims of asylum, and some can also file for a special juvenile visa, which is available to children who cannot be reunited with parents in the U.S.

Yeah, like a liberal like him would ship children back. He’d ship parents back and keep the children just so he can bitchy about that and call everyone a  RACIST.

The Houston Chronicle reported this weekend that the flow has so overwhelmed border officials in Texas that they are shipping “busloads” of immigrants to Arizona, giving them a notice to appear for eventual deportation hearings.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer sent a letter to Mr. Obama on Monday demanding to know who devised the policy, which she called “dangerous and unconscionable.” She said Homeland Security officials never gave state officials a heads-up.

“This is one of the classic trademarks of the Obama administration: they’re doing something, then people find out on their own and then they’re trying to say they do’t really owe anybody any conversation about the practice of what they’re doing,” Gosar said. “This is disturbing. We need to have some understanding about who’s authorization this … where the policy came from and the inhumane application.”

But he’s President Fiat! He can do anything he wants, when he wants, because he wants! 🙂

“This unwarranted operation is another disturbing example of a deliberate failure to enforce border security policies and repair a broken immigration system,” she wrote.

RACIST!

“I remind you that the daytime temperatures in Arizona during this time of year are regularly more than 100 degrees.

110  for the last 2 days, to be precise.

Consequently, this federal operation seems to place expediency over basic humanitarian concerns,” she wrote. “The federal government should not shirk its lawful responsibility to care for and properly process these individuals.”

“After screening by DHS authorities, the family units will be released under supervision and required to report in to a local ICE office near their destination address within 15 days, where their cases will be managed in accordance with current ICE enforcement priorities,” according to an ICE statement.

Translation: we’ll let them go, and if they don’t happen to return, oh well…

The honor system for the Dishonest. Only a Liberal could come up with that one. 🙂

And if you object: YOU’RE A RACIST!

So Guess what I am? 🙂

Sound and Fury Signifying Demagoguery

Before I get started, I just have to mention one of the STUPIDEST comments in the history of mankind and it comes from that grand lady of Progressive Liberalism. Speaker Nancy Pelosi:

Unemployment benefits are creating jobs faster than practically any other program, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday.

Talking to reporters, the House speaker was defending a jobless benefits extension against those who say it gives recipients little incentive to work. By her reasoning, those checks are helping give somebody a job.

“It injects demand into the economy,” Pelosi said, arguing that when families have money to spend it keeps the economy churning. “It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name.”

Pelosi said the aid has the “double benefit” of helping those who lost their jobs and acting as a “job creator” on the side.

“It’s impossible to think of a situation where we would have a country that would say we’re not going to have unemployment benefits,” Pelosi said.

So the best way to create jobs is to have more unemployed!!

Orwell would be applauding. No better Doublespeak has even been uttered.

And by that standard President Obama is one of the most successful Presidents since The Great Depression!!

Vice President Biden is out  with an alarmed e-mail cash appeal warning that the GOP will mount a  blitzkrieg against Democrats in the fall.

Comparing GOP tactics to the fast-striking forces of  Nazi Germany,  Biden warns in a message sent by the DCCC today: As things heat up, you  can expect House Democrats will be hit with a GOP blitzkrieg of vicious  Swift-Boat-style attack ads, Karl Rove-inspired knockout tactics,  thinly veiled attempts at character assassination and tea party  disruptions. And while the GOP is mounting a blitzkrieg, Democrats  are the allies.
Our Democratic allies in the House need your help,  and the President  and I hope we can count on you to come to their defense so we can hold  onto our Democratic Majority and continue moving American forward in a  new direction, Biden writes in the appeal.

Subtle? Not so much.

************************************

“There are those who argue that we should not move forward with any other elements of reform until we have fully sealed our borders,” he said. “Our borders are just too vast for us to be able to solve the problem only with fences and border patrols. It won’t work.”

While Arizona lawmakers defend their law as necessary to patrol the border, Obama described it as “unenforceable” and a vehicle for civil rights abuse.

“So, despite the forces of the status quo, despite the polarization and the frequent pettiness of our politics, we are confronting the great challenges of our times.  And while this work isn’t easy, and the changes we seek won’t always happen overnight, what we’ve made clear is that this administration will not just kick the can down the road.”

<<Insert Kicking sound>>

“But it is also ill conceived.  And it’s not just that the law Arizona passed is divisive -– although it has fanned the flames of an already contentious debate.  Laws like Arizona’s put huge pressures on local law enforcement to enforce rules that ultimately are unenforceable. ”

So the rule of law is unenforceable??

The locals can’t possible enforce it, so leave it up to Big Brother to ignore it for you. Be Happy.

Don’t you just feel better now? 🙂

Gee, that’s “Hope” and “Change” for ya….

“These laws also have the potential of violating the rights of innocent American citizens and legal residents, making them subject to possible stops or questioning because of what they look like or how they sound. And as other states and localities go their own ways, we face the prospect that different rules for immigration will apply in different parts of the country -– a patchwork of local immigration rules where we all know one clear national standard is needed.”

Still hasn’t read it has he! 🙂

Beat that Race Card over their heads!

STRIKE FEAR IN THEIR HEARTS!!!!

“That’s why businesses must be held accountable if they break the law by deliberately hiring and exploiting undocumented workers.  We’ve already begun to step up enforcement against the worst workplace offenders.”

Has anyone told Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, who was airing a PSA asking Illegals to call her if they are being exploited by businesses so they can go after the business?? 😦

“And, yes, this is an emotional question, and one that lends itself to demagoguery.  Time and again, this issue has been used to divide and inflame -– and to demonize people.”

And he’s the Alinsky Master Sith Lord of it!

So the bottom line is this:  The southern border is more secure today than at any time in the past 20 years.

<<<Barf Bag on standby>>

“I’m ready to move forward, the majority of Democrats are ready to move forward, and I believe the majority of Americans are ready to move forward,” Obama said.

They are, with Border Enforcement FIRST!

But that’s not on THE AGENDA.

The president blamed Republicans for exacerbating the problem. He suggested places like Arizona are unilaterally taking up the issue because GOP senators backed away from immigration reform following the debate several years ago led by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass. Obama blamed political posturing and “demagoguery” for Washington’s inability to deal with the problem, pressing Republicans to step up.

“The fact is without bipartisan support, as we had just a few years ago, we cannot solve this problem,” Obama said at American University in Washington, D.C. (You mean Amnesty?)

Sounds like demagoguery to me. 🙂

He knows he has no chance of passing it in an election year like this. So he’s just pandering to his base, and to the Hispanics.

He wants them to turn out this fall to vote against the “racists”.

He knows it.

He doesn’t care.

It’s all a political calculation. Nothing more.

All sound and Fury, signifying nothing other than pure political theatre of the crass.

*****

Mexico gets its a say in one of the lawsuits challenging Arizona’s immigration enforcement law.

A federal judge on Thursday granted Mexico’s request to be allowed to file a legal brief supporting the challenge. That means the judge will consider the brief Mexico submitted previously.

Mexico says it wants to defend its citizens’ rights and that the law would lead to racial profiling and hinder trade and tourism. It also says the law would hinder work against drug trafficking and related violence.

A Foreign country gets a say…But we’re the racists?

America, what a country! 😦

Amnesty International recently issued a report claiming illegal immigrants in Mexico — typically from Central America — face abuse, rape and kidnappings, and that Mexican police do little to stop it. When illegal immigration was a criminal offense in Mexico, officials were known to seek bribes from suspects to keep them out of jail.

But Mexico said it has a legitimate interest in defending its citizens’ rights and that Arizona’s law would lead to racial profiling, hinder trade and tourism, and strain the countries’ work on combating drug trafficking and related violence.

IBD editorial:

The president’s immigration address was little more than a cynical bid to sugarcoat amnesty for illegals as his polls sag. Maybe that’s because he’s not doing his real job: fostering jobs and enforcing the border.

In a speech Thursday that oozed Emma Lazarus-like treacle, the president distilled the current crisis facing states — from Arizona’s massive kidnapping rate and loss of control of territory, to California’s bankrupt state hospitals and schools, to Texas’ near-catastrophic destruction of a dam and cartel violence spillover — as merely an issue of Americans disliking immigrants, as if there were no difference between legal and illegal.

“These (immigrants) and men and women like them across this country, remind us that immigrants have always helped to build and defend this country — and that being an American is not a matter of blood or birth,” President Obama said, apparently forgetting that the people he was describing were legal immigrants.

His inability to admit this is a sign that he’s adopted the narrative of the politically muscular open-borders lobby. As his popularity fades and November’s midterm election approaches, he’s now pandering for Latino votes.

It’s clear enough by his past statements: He declared last April 30 that amnesty had zero chance of passing in Congress and wasn’t worth the political effort. “I don’t want us to do something just for the sake of politics that doesn’t solve the problem,” he said then.

But as his popularity fell, he told Arizona Sen. John Kyl on June 18, in words heard by others, that Arizona’s border security would be held a political hostage to amnesty.

“The problem is … if we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support ‘comprehensive immigration reform,'” Kyl explained at a meeting held in an Arizona border town.

And even in Thursday’s speech, the president admitted that his proposals for immigration reform “cannot pass without Republican votes,” which he knows he won’t get.

So Obama’s sudden interest in what’s euphemistically called “comprehensive immigration reform” can only be one thing: a bid to shore up poll numbers as elections near. A Rasmussen poll showed 32% of voters strongly approving of Obama when he vowed not to pursue immigration reform. Today it’s about 26%.

With trouble like that, it’s not surprising to see him looking to energize special interest groups, even with a bill he knows can’t pass.

The problem is, placing electoral politics above governing amounts to a diversion from his own responsibilities as president.

In characterizing Americans who only want existing laws enforced as racists, attention gets diverted from the fact that the president isn’t doing his job of protecting our borders.

In his speech, the president set up his straw men and knocked them down.

He then set out his own idea — amnesty, with a few wrist-slaps for those who break the law — as a reasonable compromise between a pure amnesty and a systematic roundup of 12 million illegals.

It’s a false choice, because there are no advocates of full amnesty outside the extreme academic left, and nobody seeks mass deportation. The real issue is that existing federal laws, passed and on the books, are being ignored. That’s why Arizona made a law to ensure that the state enforces them. And other states are following.

The president denounced Arizona’s new immigration law, falsely claiming as the amnesty lobby does that Arizona police could stop anyone on the basis of skin color alone. Not true.

It all points to a political agenda whose main aim is to win votes for the president’s party. It reeks of politics — and that politics, awfully enough, comes at the expense of the most basic governing leadership required of a president.

So sleep soundly America, knowing that the government says securing the border is impossible and if you try to do it yourself you’re a racist and it’s unenforceable.

So let the government ignore it for you.

We are from the government and we are here to protect you. 🙂
