The Obama Years

Political Cartoons by Bob Gorrell

The Obama Years: For someone who goes out of his way to miniaturize the threat from terrorism, terrorism sure seems to dog this president. When will President Obama face up to this growing evil?

Political Cartoons by Bob Gorrell

Never. Not within his mindset. He would have to rebel against his Orwellian beliefs.

U.S. officials familiar with the FBI’s counterterrorism training program and its controversial public outreach program to Muslim groups said FBI policy toward Islam—that it should not be used to describe those who seek to wage jihad or holy war against the United States and others they regard as infidels—has prevented both effective counterterrorism investigations and training.

The officials said the problem is that most field agents understand the nature of the threat but have been hamstrung by policies imposed by senior FBI leaders who are acting under orders of political appointees in the Obama administration, including Islamic advisers to the White House. The policies have prevented the FBI from conducting aggressive counterterrorism investigations of Islamic radicals or those who are in the process of being radicalized.

If this is true, it is an outrage.  Political correctness shouldn’t get in the way of the #1 responsibility of the President (and the executive branch he heads): Keeping America safe. (Townhall)’

No, he has to keep THE AGENDA safe. That’s all.

During coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings, CNN made a startlingly inaccurate claim about the terror tempo occurring under this administration — one that reflects the administration’s own state of denial about the rising threat.

They also went looking for someone on the right to blame, immediately.

The network’s homeland security analyst, Juliette Kayyem, asserted: “We have not had (even) a small-scale terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11.”

In fact, the nation has suffered several major attacks — and most of them have taken place on Obama’s watch.

Since 2009, terrorists have shot up our military bases, assassinated our diplomats and burned our embassies. And now they’ve murdered and blown off the limbs of innocent spectators, ambushed and shot cops and completely shut down our 10th-largest city.

June 1, 2009: Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad shot and killed one military recruiter and seriously wounded another at a Little Rock, Ark., recruiting station. Muhammad, a convert to Islam, had visited Yemen for 16 months, where he spent time in prison and became radicalized. Muhammad identified with al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula.

Nov. 5, 2009: Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army major serving as a psychiatrist, opened fire at Fort Hood, Texas. He shouted “Allahu Akbar!” — Allah is Greatest! — as he killed 13 and wounded 29 fellow soldiers. Hasan had received approval for his act from al-Qaida operative Anwar Awlaki.

Remember how the DoD refused to classify Nidal Malik Hasan’s attack as terorrism, referring to it instead as “workplace violence”? 🙂

The only “terrorists” the Left sees is The Right, namely Tea Partiers.

“The ‘tea parties’ and similar groups that have sprung up in recent months cannot fairly be considered extremist groups, but they are shot through with rich veins of radical ideas, conspiracy theories and racism,” Mark Potok, director of the SPLC’s Intelligence Project, wrote in a piece titled “Rage On The Right: The Year In Hate And Extremism” from the group’s Spring 2010 edition of its Intelligence Report. (DC 2010)

The AP called Tea Partiers “insurgents” in 2010. “Insurgents” largely has been used of late in the media as a watered-down reference to terrorist.

Hmmm…

March 4, 2010: John Patrick Bedell, a Muslim convert, shot and wounded two Pentagon police officers at a security checkpoint in the Pentagon station of the Washington Metro transit system in Arlington County, Va.

Sept. 11, 2012: Al-Qaida operatives attacked the American diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya. The heavily armed assault began during the night at a compound meant to protect the consulate building. A second assault early the next morning targeted a nearby CIA annex. Four people were killed, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Ten others were injured.

April 15, 2013: In the latest act of terror on Obama’s watch, at least two Muslim jihadists set off pressure-cooker bombs loaded with shrapnel at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three and injuring 183. Then, in a second wave of terror, the terrorists shot two police officers, killing one, and also injured several others with military-grade explosives. As this is being written, the terror siege hasn’t ended.

These are just the actual terror attacks. They don’t include all the major plots and near misses, such as:

September 2009: Authorities arrested Afghan native Najibullah Zazi before he could blow up the New York City subway.

September 2009: Police nabbed Jordanian national Hosam Maher Husein Smadi before he could plant a bomb in a Dallas skyscraper.

December 2009: Passengers on a flight bound for Detroit tackled Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab before he could detonate dangerous PETN and TATP explosives sewn into his underwear. Abdulmutallab was trained in Yemen by al-Qaida.

May 2010: A massive bomb planted by Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Pakistan, fails to explode as planned in an SUV parked in Time Square. He was trained and funded by the Taliban.

October 2010: Chicago synagogues discovered explosives packed inside two printer cartridges shipped by cargo planes from al-Qaida in Yemen. Luckily, the attacks failed.

Mr. President, saying there’s no Islamic terrorism doesn’t make it go away.

And canceling the war on terror doesn’t end it. Face it, we are engaged in a long-term war. And it’s not over yet. (IBD)

But didn’t you know in Orwellian Thought that if you can’t think the thought it doesn’t exist?

And they want you to be just like them….OR ELSE! 🙂

Let the Orwellian re-write begin (to suit the Left).

Charles Krauthammer: Two months and a day before 9/11, terrorism expert Larry C. Johnson published “The Declining Terrorist Threat,” a New York Times op-ed decrying the fact that “Americans are bedeviled by fantasies about terrorism,” when, in reality, “the decade beginning in 2000 will continue the downward trend” in lethal terrorism.

A decade later, Osama bin Laden is dead and the old chorus of pre-9/11 complacency has returned. The war on terror is over — yet again, it seems. Bin Laden was but “a distraction,” writes Peter Beinart, and the war on terror “a mistake from the start.” 9/11 was nothing more than “an isolated case,” argues Ross Douthat. And “bin Laden was always the weak horse.”

The new post-bin Laden dispensation is that the entire decade-long war on terror was an overreaction — as shown by the bin Laden operation itself, which, noted one critic, looks a lot like police work, the kind of law enforcement John Kerry insisted in 2004 was the proper prism through which to address the terror threat.

On the contrary. The bin Laden operation is the perfect vindication of the war on terror. It was made possible precisely by the vast, warlike infrastructure that the Bush administration created post-9/11, a fierce regime of capture and interrogation, of dropped bombs and commando strikes. That regime, of course, followed the more conventional war that brought down the Taliban, scattered and decimated al-Qaeda and made bin Laden a fugitive.

Without all of this, the bin Laden operation could never have happened. Whence came the intelligence that led to Abbottabad? Many places, including from secret prisons in Romania and Poland; from terrorists seized and kidnapped, then subjected to interrogations, sometimes “harsh” or “enhanced”; from Gitmo detainees; from a huge bureaucratic apparatus of surveillance and eavesdropping. In other words, from a Global War on Terror infrastructure that critics, including Barack Obama himself, deplored as a tragic detour from American rectitude.

It was all not just un-American, now say the revisionists, but also unnecessary.

Really? We could never have pulled off the bin Laden raid without a major military presence in Afghanistan. The choppers came from our massive base at Bagram. The jump-off point was Jalalabad. The intelligence-gathering drones fly over Pakistan by grace of an alliance (unreliable but indispensable) forged with the United States to fight the war in Afghanistan.

Even the war in Iraq played an (unintended) role. After its rout from Afghanistan, al-Qaeda chose the troubled waters of Iraq as the central front in its war on America — and suffered a stunning defeat, made particularly humiliating when its fellow Sunni Arabs rose up to join the infidel Americans in subduing it.

Bin Laden declared war on us in 1998. But it was not until 9/11 that we took him seriously. At which point we answered with a declaration of war of our own, offering the brutal, unrelenting and ferocious response that war demands and that police work prohibits.

Including bin Laden’s execution. It’s clear there was no intention of capturing him. And for good reason. Doing so would have been insane, gratuitously granting him a second life of immense publicity on a worldwide stage from which to propagandize.

We came to kill. That is what you do in war. Do that in police work and you’ve committed murder. The Navy SEAL(s) who pulled the fateful trigger would be facing charges, not receiving medals.

You want to say we’ve now won the war? Fine. It’s at least an arguable proposition. After all, the war on terror will end one day, and we will return to policing the odd terrorist nut case. I would argue, however, that while bin Laden’s death marks an extremely important inflection point in the fight against jihadism, it’s far too early to declare victory.

Now, it is one thing to have an argument about whether it’s over. It’s quite another to claim that our reaching this happy day — during which we can even be debating whether victory has been achieved — has nothing to do with the war on terror of the previous decade. Al-Qaeda is not subsiding on its own. It is not retiring from the field, having seen the error of its ways. It is not disappearing because of some inexorable law of history or nature. It is in retreat because of the terrible defeats it suffered once America decided to take up arms against it, a campaign (once) known as the war on terror.
And Just remember it was the LEFT that was screaming about a New Ice Age in 1975, by 1980 it was “Global Warming” and now it’s “Global Climate Change” and some on the Left want to go back to Ice Age but their PR won’t allow it.

After all, it’s all about THEM! 🙂

Murder of U.S. Nationals Outside the United States; Conspiracy to Murder U.S. Nationals Outside the United States; Attack on a Federal Facility Resulting in Death

Members of Jihadist forums said they prayed the news of Osama bin Laden’s death was not true, and hinted at retaliation if it was, in some of the first Islamist reaction to the al Qaeda leader’s death.

“Oh Americans… it is still legal for us to cut your necks.” “Osama bin Laden’s death doesn’t mean we can relax now and assume the danger is past,”

“Oh God, please make this news not true…God curse you Obama,” said one message on an Arabic language forum. “Oh Americans … it is still legal for us to cut your necks.” “Osama may be killed but his message of Jihad will never die. Brothers and sisters, wait and see, his death will be a blessing in disguise,” said a poster on another Islamist forum.

But don’t worry, they aren’t extreme and it’s us that are evil and not sensitive enough.

Time to apologize again! 🙂

And how do you think Obama will exploit this for his politicial re-election?

“Bush Failed!” is already on the Leftist blogs and the leftist news.

That is until the new attacks begin and suddenly being politically correct will make him look wither weak or worse a “cowboy” republican. At worst, an authoritarian crack-down like the liberal decry but secretly want.

After all, it’s all about control for Liberals.

Control speech. Control Thought. Control regulations. Control…Control…Control…

And what of the Open Borders crowds?

Letting just anyone across our border unaccounted sounds even stupider than ever.

But Big Sis is, of course, too politically correct and  incompetent to understand that.

So this is good thing, but the Liberals aren’t equipped to deal with the consequences.

Not that the liberal media will bother.

It will be more about Obama the Hero! Obama The Great!

And that’s why we need 4 more years of him!

<<BARF>>

But this is far from over, as a matter of fact, it’s just begun.

Obama: Re-Elect me, I got Bin Laden! (all that other stuff, like government spending, Obamacare, stimulus, unemployment, $5 a Gallon gas, et al doesn’tmatter).
