Relative Morality

This week bored teens shot and killed a jogger for the thrill of it. A teen purposely shot a 13-month old baby in the face during a robbery.

In 2000, teens kidnapped, tortured and murdered an 85 year old woman. They rode her dead body around in the trunk, showing it off to at least 10 friends. Not one friend reported the murder.

In 1997 a teen gave birth in the restroom at her senior prom; cut the umbilical chord, choked her baby to death, put him in a plastic bag which she threw away and returned to dancing the night away.

I could go on and on with countless examples of youths displaying a callous disregard for human life and the moral decay eating away at the soul of America.

In an on going discussion with colleagues, we ponder. What marked the genesis of it going so horribly wrong in America?

My wife Mary believes it began with liberals being allowed to infiltrate our public schools. Their philosophy is, in a nutshell, God out and government in. Liberals introduced the concept of moral relativity. In other words, nothing is absolutely right or wrong.

Personal accountability is for the most part unheard of in our liberal government and liberal media-dominated America. Consequently, disability, food stamp, and welfare fraud are through the roof.

A colleague suggested that the root of our decline is parents dropping the ball and surrendering responsibility for their kids to the schools – free breakfast and lunch, not vetting the curriculum, and so forth.

Rush Limbaugh believes our youth’s callous disregard for life stems from abortions on demand (4,000 per day) and Dr. Jack Kevorkian promoting assisted suicide. In essence, the devaluation of life.

I was devastated after watching the Fox News special report, The Great Food Stamp Binge. The program exposed how the Obama Administration is actively attempting to change the mindset of Americans, telling them self-reliance is bad and government dependency is moral and just.

Another thing that I find depressing is that the Obama administration believes enforcing our laws should not be applied equally. They claim defending our borders and enforcing immigration law is racist because the offenders are mostly people of color. And who can forget when Attorney General Eric Holder refused to prosecute New Black Panthers members for intimidating voters at the polls?

Beyond the obvious negative political and economic consequences of our cultural and moral decline, what breaks my heart is the loss of what it means to be an American.

I have written about my dad on numerous occasions, but for those of you who are unfamiliar, my dad epitomizes what it used to mean to be an American.

Born out-of-wedlock, dad was raised in the ghetto of east Baltimore by his aunt, and has been an entrepreneur since age 10. He shined shoes on the weekends at the Greyhound bus station. On a good weekend dad earned $1.25. Dad bragged to his buddies that he was a man because he purchased his own clothes — a t-shirt — and paid room and board — 25 cents to Aunt Nee. Now in his 80′s, I still feel dad’s pride when he talks about his first job.

Dad served in the Merchant Marines. He still bears deep emotional scars from an incident when whites in the South tried to hang dad for simply getting off the ship. White shipmates saved dad’s life.

Dad married and had five kids, while breaking the color barrier in the Baltimore City Fire Department in the mid 1950s. Dad could not use the same eating utensils or drink from the same coffee pot as the white firefighters. Despite deplorable, humiliating and unfair conditions, dad won Firefighter of the Year twice. Not once did dad expect or request special concessions or lower his standards due to his skin color.

As a young minister, dad strove to be excellent; a good representative for Christ and Negroes.

After two years, a new white firefighter arrived at Engine 6. Dad said the new guy came upstairs and invited dad to have coffee with the crew.

Dad’s oxygen mask malfunctioned causing him to pass out in a burning building. The chief ordered his crew out of the inferno. Upon realizing that dad had not exited the building, John, who was the most racist of the crew, went back into the smoke filled burning building. He found dad and saved his life. The two became lifelong friends.

Dad became Baltimore’s first black paramedic. He was also a chaplain in the Baltimore Fire Dept for 50 years. He earned a doctorate in theology and has authored books.

I feel incredibly blessed that I still get occasional phone calls from my 85 year old dad who calls to tell me his latest corny joke, or one he forgot he told me. I laugh regardless. His wife, my mother, passed away almost 20 years ago.

Dad is all about trying to do the right thing and striving for excellence, not expecting anyone to give you anything. Pastor of four churches, dad still stays busy visiting the sick and the shut-ins.

So, when I see Obama and the mainstream media constantly lowering the bar, expecting less and less of Americans in every area of our lives, morally, educationally, economically and etc, I mourn the loss of what it use to mean to be an American.

If Obama and the mainstream media’s vision for America is realized, there will be far fewer great American success stories like my dad’s. Most Americans will be on food stamps, abortions and murder rates will continue to skyrocket, and mediocrity will be distributed equally. (DC)
But at least it will be “fair” and “equal” for everyone. You can’t get more than that from a Liberal.

All hell all the time.

Oh, and it’s the Republicans/Conservatives Fault! 🙂

“I actually think that a lot of people have lost their ability to laugh. Look at the country as a whole. There’s a lot more to be mad at than a rodeo clown at a rodeo trying to make somebody laugh.”– Tuffy Gessling, the Missouri rodeo clown who wore a President Obama mask at the state fair, now gets death threats from the “kind” “compassionate” and “sensitive” Liberals.

Though shalt not make fun of their God, Government, nor his emissary, B.O.

After all, Government always makes everything “fair” 🙂

How Green(e) is My Politics

Alvin Greene, a 13 year veteran of the military won 59% of the vote in the South Carolina democratic primary for the u.s. senate last week. Greene, despite having spent less than 2 thousand dollars on his campaign handily won the primary.

One would think that the Dems would be excited that a black guy with a very limited budget beat out a white guy with loads of campaign money and could be the first african american senator from the southern US  since reconstruction.

But people, including representative James Clyburn (D-SC), House Whip in Congress is demanding an investigation. He and other members of the Democratic party have asked Alvin Greene to pull out of the race.

Some also think he’s a plant by the Republicans. 🙂

“Alvin Greene is pretending to be an idiot,” Creighton (of far left Flamethrower website Firedoglake) writes, noting that Greene holds a college degree and worked as an intelligence specialist in the US military. “He is doing it because someone doesn’t want a strong populist democrat like Vic Rawl running against Jim DeMint in South Carolina for his seat in the United States Senate.”

Isn’t politics just fun. 🙂

“There were some real shenanigans going on in the South Carolina primary,” Clyburn said on the Bill Press radio show, according to The Hill. “I don’t know if [Greene] was a Republican plant; he was someone’s plant.” Clyburn is particularly suspicious that Greene could come up with the $10,400 needed to register for the race despite being unemployed.

A spokesman for Sen. Jim DeMint, Greene’s opponent in the general election, said the charge that the Democratic nominee is a Republican plant is “ridiculous.”
Whomever the Democrats nominated was not likely to win against the very popular DeMint anyhow.

Super leftist Ezra Klein of the Washington Post though, put it this way: There’s been a lot of talk about what sort of trickery and skullduggery and inanity could’ve produced Alvin Greene’s win in South Carolina. But after reading all of it, I’m coming down on the side of Dave Weigel: Maybe the guy just, you know, won.

So why all the outrage? All the conspiracy theories?

Could it be they want to create a crisis, so they can exploit it?

Get the sleepy, apathetic, South Carolina Democrats whipped up?

They want to know where he got the $10,400 to be put on the ballot.

They are more obsessed with this than the $4 Trillion in worthless spending they’ve already done nationally.

It’s like focusing on 1 tree while the whole forest burns down!

But they miss the fact that 100,000 people voted for this guy. Regardless of whether he was “a plant” and “someone” seeded him the money, he still got the votes.

Oh, right, because this was an open primary it was a Republican hit-job… 😦

When asked by NBC’s David Gregory on Sunday if Greene’s election was legitimate, senior White House adviser David Axelrod said, “It doesn’t appear so to me. It was a mysterious deal.”

Axelrod said: “The whole thing is odd. I don’t really know how to explain it and I don’t think anybody else does either. … How [Greene] won the primary is a big mystery, and until you resolve that I don’t think he can claim to be a strong, credible candidate.”

But they are still stuck with an unemployed, no experience candidate with a pending felony trial.

I don’t know about you, but that sounds like the perfect Democrat to me. 🙂

So what is really the troubling factor here is the Democrats attitude that the guy they put up, a former legislator named Vic Rawl, who spend virtually no money either but had the blessing of the establishment, didn’t win so it must be a trick.

The voting machines were rigged, they say. “Hanging Chads” anyone?

Some want the primary results thrown out.

They didn’t get their man.

That’s the really troubling part.

And these are the same Democrats who will, even after 10 years, go ranting off into left field about how the Republicans stole the election in 2000 from Al Gore.

They didn’t get their man.

Does this sound like a free and fair, democratic election ethic or a party apparatchik put-up job?

The Party wants whom the party wants. And the people are just sheep who are supposed to vote the way the party wants them too and if they don’t it must therefore be FRAUD! 🙂

And if the party doesn’t get what it wants it will simply erase it and start over again until you do what the party wants.

Very scary.

But does it sound familiar?

Health Care reform anyone? Bailouts? TARP? Stimulus? Cap and Trade!

The majority of Americans were vehemently against the Health Care bill, but the Democrats wanted their Holy Grail no matter what and they got what they wanted by any means necessary.

And now it’s Energy.

Cap and Trade, which stalled out for lack of support is now re-energized by the Oil Spill.

“The tragedy unfolding on our coast is the most painful and powerful reminder yet that the time to embrace a clean energy future is now,” he said. “I say we can’t afford not to change how we produce and use energy – because the long-term costs to our economy, our national security, and our environment are far greater.” –President Obama, last night.

Never waste a Crisis!

Overly Expensive, inefficient, but politically correct,Green Tech or Bust.

One problem, the nation, and the world run on Oil.

So they need to make Oil unattractive, both politically and economically.

Enter Cap and Trade.

Mind you, the rest of the world is going to do anything, but take advantage of the weak, stupid Americans.

And 10’s of thousands of good jobs will evaporate.

Earlier this month, the president ordered a six month ban on exploratory deepwater drilling – a move some experts predict will pour salt into the wounds of the already injured region.

The moratorium could lead to massive job losses in Louisiana, which relies on drilling to support its economy, Louisiana State University Economist James Richardson said.

“The moratorium could be more devastating than the leak, because more people are employed by the oil industry than the fishing industry,” he said.

The moratorium could cost the state more than 20,000 jobs by the end of the year, according to the Louisiana Department of Economic Development. The Department estimates for every one employee working on a rig, nine employees onshore are working to support that rig.

“During one of the most challenging economic periods in decades, the last thing we need is to enact public policies that will certainly destroy thousands of existing jobs while preventing the creation of thousands more,” Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said in a letter to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

Broken down by industry, the Louisiana Department of Economic Development estimates fishing and tourism contributes $10 billion to the Louisiana economy, while energy contributes $65 billion.

Following the moratorium, Anadarko Petroleum announced its intention to move three rigs out of the Gulf.

And when the taxes from this debacle cripple the country anyone for 20% unemployment??

The price of gas will skyrocket.

But candidate Obama was only too happy about that previously

January 2008:

“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket . . . because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, natural gas, you name it . . . Whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money, and they will pass that [cost] on to consumers.’’

In the same interview, Obama suggested that his energy policy would require the ruin of the coal industry. “If somebody wants to build a coal-fired plant, they can,’’ he told the Chronicle. “It’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.’’

So the Oil Spill is the perfect political opportunity to get what they want because they want it.

The fact that the people are again, against it, is not relevant.

They want what they want.

So the Democrats in South Carolina want to invalidate a valid election because they didn’t get what they wanted. They complain to this day about the 2000 election because they didn’t get what they wanted. And then the Health Care Debate  went on for over a year until they bum-rushed it through in the most partisan vote in the history of the country.

Now they want your energy.

Your Car.

Your AC.

Your everything that is manufactured and shipped that will be more costly.

And all the job losses for this?

Like they care.

They want what they want when they want it.

Period.

And no one is going to take their toys away from them!

How’s That “New” Image Working

President Obama and the Liberals all said we needed to “improve” our image all over the world and to apologize for the “cowboy” attitudes of George W. Bush. To erase the the “ugly american”.

So he went around the world apologizing to everyone and anyone would would listen.

And proclaimed it a success.

So when I saw this story on FoxNews, I chuckled cynically:

Looking for a job? Well, if you’re an “arrogant American,” you had better search elsewhere.

An information technology staffing firm based in Rolling Meadows, Ill., posted an advertisement for a technical writer that warned that an “arrogant American” would not flourish in the position.

“Exelon is looking to provide these proposals to Chinese businesses, so someone who is respectful and understands Chinese culture is preferred. An arrogant American will not work well in this role,” the listing read.

The ad, posted by Viva USA, an information technology consulting firm, has since been removed. Varuna Singh, the company’s development manager, told FoxNews.com it received the language from its client, Exelon Nuclear Partners, and the wording somehow got past a “junior recruiter” who posted the advertisement on CareerBuilder.com.

“We are taking it down immediately, this was a mistake,” Singh said. “This was not wordage by Viva. This was sent into us by the client, but we, as the staffing company, should have looked into it before posting.

Singh apologized for the error, citing “negligence” on the company’s behalf.

Judith Rader, a spokeswoman for Exelon, said the company apologizes for the “offensive and inappropriate” language contained in the job posting.

“Exelon was surprised and very disappointed to see this job posting including this offensive and inappropriate language,” a statement to FoxNews.com read. “This statement was not approved by Exelon and in no way reflects the company’s policies and values. We regret that this language appeared in recruiting materials that were prepared by a third party and not approved by Exelon. We apologize for this error and the offense it has caused. We are taking steps to ensure this does not happen again. Exelon is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion, and we make every effort to attract and retain talent of all backgrounds.”

The “apology” is very Politician-speak isn’t it?

By the way: Exelon is a provider of energy services with an electric and natural gas distribution and is the largest nuclear operator in the United States.

You know the 8.5 billion Obama just promised for building a new plant. Hmmm…

Ferne Wolf, a St. Louis-based employment law attorney, said the posting “sounds like national origin discrimination” and suggested the advertisement be brought to the attention of EEOC officials.

“I think a jury could reasonably conclude that there’s already a predisposition [by the firm] that Americans are arrogant,” she said. “That’s like saying ditzy blondes need not apply.”

Maybe they’ll hire a Muslim. 🙂

From Iran-Daily.com

A prominent national Muslim civil rights and advocacy group today called on Congress to probe allegations of anti-Muslim bias at the taxpayer-funded agency that advises the president and other government officials on issues related to religious freedom worldwide.
Current and former staff and commissioners of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom say the agency discriminates against Muslim staffers, targets Muslim countries for extra scrutiny, focuses disproportionately on the persecution of Christians, and downplays violations of religious rights in places like Israel and Europe, prnewswire.com reported.
A Muslim policy analyst contracted by the commission recently filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) alleging that her contract was canceled because of her faith and her past affiliation with an American Muslim organization.
The commission was created by Congress in 1998 as part of the International Religious Freedom Act. It has a $4.3 million budget. Next year, Congress must decide whether to extend the commission’s life beyond its 2011 sunset date.
“The disturbing allegations of anti-Muslim bias at the US Commission on International Religious Freedom must be investigated by Congress prior to instituting any necessary reforms,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “Taxpayer dollars should not be used to promote the religious agendas or pet projects of those with an ideological ax to grind.”

Awad noted that the commission devoted extensive resources to examining the textbooks used at an Islamic school in Virginia, despite the fact that the agency was created to monitor religious freedom overseas.
In 2001, a group of American Muslim, Christian and secular organizations criticized the commission’s lack of balance in its reporting on violations of religious freedom.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

CAIR being the basically terrorist advocacy group that will pounce on you if you so much a look cross-wise at any Muslim.

If my house get’s fire bombed, or the IRS suddenly seizes my assets, you’ll know why.

That’s Image Making at it’s finest.

Las Vegas:

President Obama flew into Las Vegas Friday, $1.5 billion in TARP money in hand. It seemed a make-up bouquet for his remarks singling out the city as no place to spend money. But is pork really the answer?

The president had been blamed by Nevada’s governor and Vegas’ mayor for damage to the local economy in the last 12 months after he twice scolded Americans about blowing their cash in the city famed for casinos and entertainment.

“When times are tough, you tighten your belts,” he told a New Hampshire town hall on Feb. 2. “You don’t blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.”

Vegas officials say his remarks affected more than just spendthrifts. Comments such as those above and in 2009 prompted the cancellation of 340 Las Vegas events last year, according to officials, and were directly linked to the shutdown of the Ritz-Carlton this year, which threw 400 workers out of their jobs.

Now Obama’s back, offering what’s essentially a $1.5 billion welfare handout as a means of making up with the economically battered city. The problem, though, is that he doesn’t address what’s really killing Vegas — a lack of jobs and a struggling economy that’s having a hard time creating them.

For starters, the “bouquet” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

It kind of stinks — of politics. The cash will be funneled through state housing finance agencies “to design programs,” as the White House blog vaguely puts it. The conduit will flow through the door of corrupt community organizers such as Acorn, which get their cash from such agencies to conveniently skirt federal rules that prohibit handing taxpayer money to these groups.

Second, the dollars also will be shared with five states, and not on an equal basis, opening the way to favored political constituencies, while 45 other states get nothing. You can bet electoral politics will figure in that distribution.

Third, the flowers are old and wilted. Friday, the Mortgage Bankers Association announced that the mortgage crisis had turned a decisive corner with a drop-off of foreclosures. To shovel $1.5 billion in subsidies into the market that’s just beginning to correct itself will only distort the market more and delay recovery.

If Obama would focus on policies that benefit the entire country instead of trying to make choices about who’s in favor or who’s not, the jobs problem would solve itself and nobody would get upset if he scolds workers about Vegas. Tax cuts, free trade and an end to using paid-back TARP funds as a political piggy bank would make it up to Vegas. And the rest of us, too. (IBD)

But don’t worry he appointed a commission to look into the problem of the deficit, while he continues to pork people into submission.

How’s that New Image going…Oh, that’s right, it will be on full bore show on Feb 25 for the “summit” on Health Care.

Get your barf bags ready.
