Once upon a time, Democrats were concerned with infringements on civil liberties, when the president abusing power was someone they opposed and when the deaths of Americans bothered them. It was a magical time called the 2000s, but it might as well have been a century ago because that party has since gone the way of the Dodo.
OK, Democrats never truly cared about those things in principle, mind you, but they at least paid lip service to the concept in a fairly convincing way.
To Democrats, when George W. Bush was president, he was personally responsible for the actions of soldiers he’d never met in a prison he’d never visited on the other side of the planet. Every job loss was a pink slip signed by him to enrich his Halliburton masters. Now that Barack Obama is president, the people he appointed to cabinet positions not only aren’t responsible for the actions of their subordinates, they aren’t responsible for their own actions.
Lost on the media is the irony that the very people who have been trying to dismiss the IRS scandal as the work of “misguided mid-level rogues” would be buying out bullhorn supplies to shout their outrage had the parties been reversed. (Derk Hunter)
After all, the Democrats were the only screaming at the top of their lungs that Valerie Plaime was a big f*cking deal when it wasn’t. But that was then this is now.
And in 2013 it’s still Bush’s fault! FOR EVERYTHING. It’s the Six Degrees of Bush Blame!
And now the President is blameless for everything and nothing THEY DO is a big F*cking Deal. You complaining about it is the problem. It’s not them, it’s you!
You know the people I’m talking about. The Know-Nothings.
You know the folks who pushed that one law regarding almost 20 percent of the entire economy before they even read the bill? The ones who rushed it into law just to see what was in it? The ones who managed to write a bill, while still not being familiar with what the bill actually did?
Yeah, those guys? The Know-Nothings.
Well, they know nothing about a lot of other stuff too.
Obama’s one of those guys. So is Eric Holder. So, apparently, is the entire staff at the IRS from the executive offices upward.
They are kind of an “Axis of See No Evil, Hear No Evil”. (speak only evil of anyone who disagrees with you)
Below is a laundry list from the Huffington Post about Attorney General Eric Holder’s gripping testimony to congress regarding his department’s latest suppression of the First Amendment while seizing phone records from a news organization.
You know, just in case you didn’t know about it, this will clear everything up for you. And just in case you miss the subtlety below, Holder, by the way, knows nothing:
· “I was not the person involved in that decision,”
· “I am not familiar with the reasons why the subpoena was constructed in the way that it was because I’m simply not a part of the case.”
· “I do not know, however, with regard to this particular case, why that was or was not done.”
· “I simply do not have a factual basis for answering that question.”
· “Again, Mr. Chairman, I don’t know.”
· “I assume he was, but I don’t know.”
· “I don’t know what has happened in this matter.”
· “This is both an ongoing matter and an ongoing matter about which I know nothing.”
· Holder also said he did not know “precisely” when he had recused himself from the investigation.
Liberal publications, including the Washington Post, carry similar lists.
However, Holder’s Know-Nothing affiliation shouldn’t surprise us because his boss is a Know-Nothing too.
In fact, he’s the chief Know-Nothing.
When asked about the recent Inspector General’s report on the IRS’s practice of targeting conservative groups, the president said: Hey! I just read about that!
“I first learned about it from the same news reports that I think most people learned about this,” Obama said in a statement that says nothing, but still reveals much. “I think it was on Friday.”
As a follow-up I wish someone had thought to ask Obama what he had for lunch on Friday. It’d be nice to know if our president knows nothing about that as well.
Obama apparently knew nothing about Boston, about the illegal seizure of Associated Press phone records, the strong-arming of State Department employees, the constitution, the economy, job creation….
In fact, as I wrote at the beginning of the month, Obama, the know-it-all, suddenly seemed to know nothing, even before the IRS-AP fracas:
Still, it’s surprising that the administration that knows more about banking than bankers, more about healthcare than doctors, more about firearms than people who legally possess arms, more about budgets than citizens who have to balance their checkbooks and more about practically everything than anyone else, would admit that on a few things, they really know nothing.
“On most days it’s hard to tell him he’s wrong about anything,” recently confessed one top Democrat about the Commander in Brief.
It’s seems equally hard to TELL him about anything too.
But here it is:
Obama knows nothing about Benghazi.
He knows nothing about Boston’s Tsarnaev brothers.
He knows nothing about Fast and Furious; he knows nothing about green energy loans, either.
Yes, the man who recently proclaimed: I AM IN CHARGE NOW, FINALLY! knows nothing.
This seems strange coming from the administration that leaked every damn detail about how Barack Obama personally hunted down and killed Osama bin Laden, while simultaneously saving Detroit from bankruptcy… saved Detroit at least until after the election in 2012, that is.
But the Know-Nothing party isn’t just a celebration of individual ignorance, it’s institutional too:
“Republicans seem to be losing patience with [ousted head of the Internal Revenue Service Steven] Miller because his answers don’t change,” reports the Wall Street Journal, “of course, neither have their questions. Miller, in response to rough questioning from [Republican] Dave Reichert, says he doesn’t know who is primarily responsible for initiating these searches of tea-party groups.”
“I don’t have that name, Sir,” Miller said.
Nor does anyone else at the IRS.
But of course the only people who seem surprise by this outbreak of ignorance are those other Know-Nothings, the press.
The rest of us?
We knew that this administration knew nothing a long time ago. (John Ranson)
And if you know what’s good for you, Citizen, you’ll know nothing, ALWAYS.
As part of the fiscal cliff, the top tax rate on dividends is scheduled to nearly triple in 2013. Here are some questions you might have:
What is a dividend? A dividend is a cash payment that a company makes to shareholders. What type of people receive dividends? Almost everyone benefits from dividends. If you are covered by a traditional pension or 401(k) plan at work, you almost certainly own dividend-paying stocks and mutual funds that own dividend-paying stocks. Ditto for your IRA or Roth IRA. Additionally, the IRS data cited above shows that over 25 million American families choose to receive dividends directly.
Traditional pensions, 401(k)s, and IRAs are accounts for middle class Americans, not rich people. That’s where many dividends end up. Additionally, nearly 23 million out of the 25 million American families that get paid dividends directly earn less than $200,000 per year. Over 40 percent of all taxable dividends are earned in these households.
Not just evil “rich” “angry white guys” or “evil” Corporate America.
Obamacare contains twenty new or higher taxes. Five of the taxes hit for the first time on January 1. In total, for the years 2013-2022, Americans face a net $1 trillion tax hike for the years 2013-2022, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
The five major Obamacare taxes taking effect on January are as follows:
The Obamacare Medical Device Tax: Medical device manufacturers employ 409,000 people in 12,000 plants across the country. Obamacare imposes a new 2.3 percent excise tax on gross sales – even if the company does not earn a profit in a given year. In addition to killing small business jobs and impacting research and development budgets, this will increase the cost of your health care – making everything from pacemakers to artificial hips more expensive.
The Obamacare Flex Account Tax: The 30-35 million Americans who use a pre-tax Flexible Spending Account (FSA) at work to pay for their family’s basic medical needs will face a new government cap of $2500. This will squeeze $13 billion of tax money from Americans over the ten years. (Currently, the accounts are unlimited under federal law, though employers are allowed to set a cap.)
There is one group of FSA owners for whom this new cap will be particularly cruel and onerous: parents of special needs children. There are several million families with special needs children in the United States, and many of them use FSAs to pay for special needs education. Tuition rates at one leading school that teaches special needs children in Washington, D.C. (National Child Research Center) can easily exceed $14,000 per year. Under tax rules, FSA dollars can be used to pay for this type of special needs education. This Obamacare tax provision will limit the options available to these families.
The Obamacare Surtax on Investment Income: This is a new, 3.8 percentage point surtax on investment income earned in households making at least $250,000 ($200,000 single). This would result in the following top tax rates on investment income:
Capital Gains Dividends Other*2012 15% 15% 35%2013+ (current law)
23.8% 43.4% 43.4%
The table above also incorporates the scheduled hike in the capital gains rate from 15 to 20 percent, and the scheduled hike in dividends rate from 15 to 39.6 percent.
The Obamacare “Haircut” for Medical Itemized Deductions: Currently, those Americans facing high medical expenses are allowed a deduction to the extent that those expenses exceed 7.5 percent of adjusted gross income (AGI). This tax increase imposes a threshold of 10 percent of AGI. By limiting this deduction, Obamacare widens the net of taxable income for the sickest Americans. This tax provision will most harm near retirees and those with modest incomes but high medical bills.
The Obamacare Medicare Payroll Tax Hike: The Medicare payroll tax is currently 2.9 percent on all wages and self-employment profits. Under this tax hike, wages and profits exceeding $200,000 ($250,000 in the case of married couples) will face a 3.8 percent rate instead. This is a direct marginal income tax hike on small business owners, who are liable for self-employment tax in most cases. The table below compares current law vs. the Obamacare Medicare Payroll Tax Hike: First $200,000 All Remaining Wages ($250,000 Married) Employer/Employee Employer/Employee Current Law 1.45%/1.45% 1.45%/1.45% 2.9% self-employed 2.9% self-employed
2012 CBO Report on Revenue Effects of Obamacare Tax Hike 2013-2022
Tax Penalty Payments by Uninsured Individuals $55 billion
Tax Penalty Payments by Employers $106 billion
Excise Tax on High-Premium Insurance Plans $111 billion
Associated Effects of Coverage Provisions on Tax Revenues $216 billion
Reinsurance and Risk Adjustment Collections $184 billion
Fees on Manufacturers and Insurers $165 billion
Additional Hospital Insurance Tax $318 billion
Other Revenue Provisions $87 billion

This won’t hurt everyone, the economy and job “growth” now will it!
But don’t worry,it’s still Bush’s Fault!! That will keep you warm by the fire, until they ban it (bad for the environment, you know) or tax it that is…
Happy New Year. Happy New Tax Increases EVERYONE….
The federal government ran a deficit of $292 billion for the first two months of fiscal year 2013 – October and November 2012 – amounting to $4.8 billion of borrowed money each day.
“The federal budget deficit was $292 billion for the first two months of fiscal year 2013, $57 billion more than the shortfall recorded in October and November of last year,” CBO said in its Monthly Budget Review Friday.
This means that the government borrowed $4.8 billion for each calendar day so far in 2013. If the Treasury Department restricted its borrowing to only weekdays, its per day average would jump to $6.5 billion per day thus far in fiscal year 2013.
CBO reported that federal revenues rose by $30 billion – a 10 percent increase over last year, but spending increased more, going up by $87 billion or 16 percent.
Overall, the two-month deficit figure was $57 billion higher than the October-November 2012 deficit. (CNS)
But it’s more important that the Republicans cave on a non-existent “tax cut” and raise taxes on “rich” people.
Spending, ah who cares about that.
The non-existent “tax cut” is the Bush Tax cuts that the Democrats want on record as the reason why the economy is in the shithouse. Not their Spending.
Tax Cuts are evil and we should never have them again because they are bad for the economy.
Borrowing nearly $5 Billion dollars we don’t have has nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact we need to Spend Even More!
We can just tax “the rich” and everything will be Utopia.
Orwell could do better. Seriously, he couldn’t have done better.
540,000 people gave up looking for work and just decided to go on the dole. So the Unemployment rate goes down and the People cheer about how great a job Big Brother is doing.
They either dropped out, took early disability or retired. Since the start of 2009, 9.7 million Americans have fallen into this category.
And if the retired or took disability or food stamps guess who gets to pay for it?
YOU DO. But Rejoice, it’s all Good.
544,000 people have been hired in the last 5 months by the Government agencies. The Public Sector unemployment rate is 3%.
Rejoice. It’s all good.
IBD’s own research shows that small businesses account for nearly 80% of all new job creation in America. A small-business slump means no jobs. It’s that simple.
But since the unemployment rate (a measure ONLY of those seeking employment) dropped to 0.1% lower than it was in January 2008 when Obama took Office it’s heralded by the Ministry of Truth as a triumph of Obama.
The 540,000 in November alone that gave up looking don’t matter.
Manipulation of the masses and their collective stupidity does.
Since 2011, businesses have added about 151,000 jobs a month. But since June that’s slowed to just 139,000. We’re clearly going the wrong way.
And by the way, remember those big payroll gains in September and October, right before the election? Forget it. The Labor Department has revised down its job estimates for those two months by 49,000.
All told, more than 24 million Americans who want jobs don’t have them, driving the labor force participation rate to 63.6%, just above August’s 31-year low of 63.5%. This is the worst labor market in a recovery ever.
OK, but we still have private-sector job growth, right? Not really. In the last six months, 621,000 of the 847,000 new jobs created have been in government, not the private sector, according to CNSNews.com. That’s 73% of all jobs — not a healthy labor market. (IBD)
And who pays for Public sector jobs?
One Guess — YOU DO!!
Congrats, you’re it
Isn’t Obama just the greatest! He gives you a non-existent “tax cut”, he raises taxes on your boss and he hires more people that you have to pay for!
All Hail Obama The Great! Isn’t he just the Greatest!
He’s much better than that other guy…whatshisname…
President Obama today issued a stern warning to Republicans in Congress threatening to use the debt ceiling as a bargaining chip in deficit negotiations, saying “it is not a game that I will play.”
“I want to send a very clear message to people here: We are not going to play that game next year. If Congress in any way suggests that they’re going to tie negotiations to debt ceiling votes and take us to the brink of default once again as part of a budget negotiation, which, by the way, we have never done in our history until we did it last year, I will not play that game,” Obama told some of the nation’s top CEOs at the Business Roundtable in Washington. “We’ve got to break that habit before it starts.” (ABC)
City Council member JoAnn Watson said Tuesday the citizens support of Obama in last month’s election was enough reason for the president to bailout the struggling the city.
“Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that,” said Watson. “Of course, not just that, but why not?”
Oh goodness.
“After the election of Jimmy Carter, the honorable Coleman Alexander Young, he went to Washington, D.C. and came home with some bacon,” said Watson. “That’s what you do.” (WP)
Detroit is $1.6 Trillion in debt. Detroit has always been a liberal haven, it’s ruin by Unions mostly (yes that was a Freudian slip ). But this is nakedly, unashamed liberal narcissism.
Bribe them, and they will come (to vote for you) now they want their Ton of bacon! And they want it now!!!!
So they can spread it to all the little bacon-nippers they’ve bribed.
The Circle of Liberal life!
Thomas Sowell: One of the big advantages that President Obama has, as he plays “chicken” with the Congressional Republicans along the “fiscal cliff,” is that Obama is a master of the plausible lie, which will never be exposed by the mainstream media– nor, apparently, by the Republicans.
A key lie that has been repeated over and over, largely unanswered, is that President Bush’s “tax cuts for the rich” cost the government so much lost tax revenue that this added to the budget deficit– so that the government cannot afford to allow the cost of letting the Bush tax rates continue for “the rich.”
Joseph Goebbels: If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.
The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
And with a 24/7/365 Ministry of Truth it is a LOT easier to do.
It sounds very plausible, and constant repetition without a challenge may well be enough to convince the voting public that, if the Republican-controlled House of Representatives does not go along with Barack Obama’s demands for more spending and higher tax rates on the top 2 percent, it just shows that they care more for “the rich” than for the other 98 percent.
What is remarkable is how easy it is to show how completely false Obama’s argument is. That also makes it completely inexplicable why the Republicans have not done so.
The official statistics which show plainly how wrong Barack Obama is can be found in his own “Economic Report of the President” for 2012, on page 411. You can look it up.
You may be able to find a copy of the “Economic Report of the President” for 2012 at your local public library. Or you can buy a hard copy from the Government Printing Office or download an electronic version from the Internet.
For those who find that “a picture is worth a thousand words,” they need only see the graphs published in the November 30th issue of Investor’s Business Daily.
IBD: Turn to Pages 411-413 of his 2012 Economic Report of the President, published by the Council of Economic Advisers. They show that “the math,” as Obama is wont to say, in fact does add up for tax cuts.
After President Bush in late May 2003 signed the largest tax cut since President Reagan — including dropping the top marginal rate to 35% from 39.6% — government receipts from individual income taxes rose from $793.7 billion to a peak of $1.16 trillion in 2007, when the mortgage crisis began, a 47% jump.
Stronger economic growth expanded the tax base and brought in so much revenue that Bush more than halved the deficit over that period. The budget gap plunged to $160.7 billion from $377.6 billion, according to the president’s report.
Perhaps the most impressive statistic appears on Page 412, one that undercuts Obama’s core argument against continuing the Bush tax cuts.
The post-tax-cut surge in economic growth and tax revenues helped drive down the deficit from 3.5% of gross domestic product in 2004 to 2.6% in 2005, to 1.9% in 2006 and to a manageable 1.2% in 2007.
Based on Bush fiscal policies, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projected budget deficits of 0.7% to 1.5% of GDP for the years 2008 through 2011. The CBO even predicted surpluses for the subsequent years through 2018.
What derailed the forecast was the subprime mortgage crisis of 2008.
This financial anomaly threw the economy into a deep recession, beginning in December 2007, and forced a collapse in federal tax revenues.
As a result, the deficit-to-GDP ratio shot up to 10% in 2009 and has remained around that level, thanks to record Obama spending.
(The recession technically ended in June 2009.)
Obama’s economic report shows that the average deficit-to-GDP ratio during the entire Bush administration — 2001 to 2009 — was 2%, which is well below the 50-year average of 3%.
During the Obama years, in contrast, the same deficit ratio has averaged 9.1%.
The Bush tax cuts did not “cost” the Treasury revenues. Nor did they increase income inequality.
When fully implemented, they increased the portion of the income tax burden that fell on the wealthiest Americans.
The top 1% of taxpayers went from paying 38.4% of overall taxes to 39.1%, while the bottom 50% saw their share drop from 3.4% to 3.1%.
And as a percentage of the economy, deficits shrank to historically low levels.
Record red ink flowed much later as the housing market toppled and government spending shot up.
New spending on welfare programs and Obama’s $1.9 trillion national health care entitlement threaten only to compound the budget crisis.
Yet he proposes backloading any promised spending controls while front-loading “revenue increases” from tax hikes. (IBD)
What both the statistical tables in the “Economic Report of the President” and the graphs in Investor’s Business Daily show is that (1) tax revenues went up– not down– after tax rates were cut during the Bush administration, and (2) the budget deficit declined, year after year, after the cut in tax rates that have been blamed by Obama for increasing the deficit.
Indeed, the New York Times reported in 2006: “An unexpectedly steep rise in tax revenues from corporations and the wealthy is driving down the projected budget deficit this year.”
While the New York Times may not have expected this, there is nothing unprecedented about lower tax rates leading to higher tax revenues, despite automatic assumptions by many in the media and elsewhere that tax rates and tax revenues automatically move in the same direction. They do not.
The Congressional Budget Office has been embarrassed repeatedly by making projections based on the assumption that tax revenues and tax rates move in the same direction.
This has happened as recently as the George W. Bush administration and as far back as the Reagan administration. Moreover, tax revenues went up when tax rates went down, as far back as the Coolidge administration, before there was a Congressional Budget Office to make false predictions.
The bottom line is that Barack Obama’s blaming increased budget deficits on the Bush tax cuts is demonstrably false. What caused the decreasing budget deficits after the Bush tax cuts to suddenly reverse and start increasing was the mortgage crisis. The deficit increased in 2008, followed by a huge increase in 2009.
So it is sheer hogwash that “tax cuts for the rich” caused the government to lose tax revenues. The government gained tax revenues, not lost them. Moreover, “the rich” paid a larger amount of taxes, and a larger share of all taxes, after the tax rates were cut.
That is because people change their economic behavior when tax rates are changed, contrary to what the Congressional Budget Office and others seem to assume, and this can stimulate the economy more than a government “stimulus” has done under either Bush or Obama.
Yet there is no need to assume that Barack Obama is mistaken about the way to get the economy out of the doldrums. His top priority has always been increasing the size and scope of government. If that means sacrificing the economy or the truth, that is no deterrent to Obama. That is why he is willing to play chicken with Republicans along the fiscal cliff.
Little noticed in President Obama’s “fiscal cliff” plan is a demand for a huge new stimulus package. Wait! Wasn’t he and everyone in the press telling us just before the election how the economy was gathering steam?
You mean He lied? And the Ministry of Truth went along with it? Nah, perish the thought…
In addition to the $1.6 trillion in new taxes on “the rich” that Obama demands, he’s also pushing for upward of $255 billion in new stimulus spending for next year — including $50 billion for roads, $30 billion in extended unemployment benefits and various short-term tax breaks.
In other words, more the same things that have failed over the last 4 years but fit in with his ideology.
So, he is certifiably insane. By the definition of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
If we just wish really hard, and we just keep doing it it will eventually work!!
According to the New York Times, the administration’s argument is that “the sluggish economy requires a shot in the arm.”And, indeed, the Times paints a rather grim picture of the current economic situation.
But don’t worry, it was Bush’s Fault!
Data show “the recovery once again sputtering,” it reported Tuesday, adding that the “underlying rate of growth (is) too slow to bring down the unemployment rate by much.” Manufacturing and exports are lagging, it noted, while consumers and businesses are “holding back” and “wage growth is weak.”
But lying as means to an end : re-election is ok. Because the “right” emperor was re-elected to do exactly same as he had done before.
That’s what the morons voted for.
What’s more, the Times says, economic data have “come in surprisingly weak,” and forecasters have “slashed their estimates of growth in the fourth quarter.” Macroeconomic Advisers thinks annualized GDP growth will be just 0.8% this quarter.
Now they tell us. In the crucial last few weeks before the election, the mainstream media were falling over themselves painting a rosy economic picture. Every upbeat bit of data made it to the front page; any bad news got buried.
Well, that’s the Ministry of Truth job, to lie for the sake of preserving their Big Brother. Besides, he was up against an Evil Rich White Guy! And he couldn’t be allowed to lose to the like of that!
In fact, one month before the election, the Times ran a story touting all the “signs of growing economic strength” and boasting how the country was in the midst of a “steadier recovery than previously thought.”
That same day, a USA Today story prominently quoted a source as saying “the economy is finally beginning to build some momentum.”
In mid-October, AP reported that new retail sales figures showed that “consumers were shaking off high unemployment” and this “would help the economy emerge from the malaise that clouded the spring.”
Then, just days before the election, the press paraded a consumer confidence survey that showed a strong uptick in the index. AP claimed it was a sign the economy was beginning “to make steady improvement.”
They were just doing their Ministerial duties. And when we go off the cliff, it will be the Republicans and the Rich who are to blame. And the “failing” economy will not be their fault anyhow.
Generally, the press agreed that growth would accelerate after the election, regardless of who won. Two days before Election Day, BusinessWeek proclaimed that “the economy is on course to enjoy faster growth in the next four years as the head winds that have held it back turn into tail winds.” It added that “consumers are spending more and saving less,” while “home prices are rebounding” and “banks are increasing lending.” It predicted, “The die is cast for a much stronger recovery.”
Now that Obama has won re-election on the claim that the economy is improving, it’s apparently safe for the press to admit what it should have been reporting all along — that after four years of Obamanomics, we’re still in trouble. (IBD)
Surprise…Surprise…Surprise!
It’s good to be the King!!!
As you know, John F. Kennedy invented the Peace Corps. But did you know (or care), for instance, that Obama issued an actual proclamation on the Corps’ 50th anniversary? The vision and leadership in that news release is astounding!
Maybe you knew Calvin Coolidge was the first presidential voice carried on radio. But did you know (or virtually care) that Obama was the first to speak at a virtual townhall?
Then there was that strange day when the former state senator talked of all “those soldiers or airmen or Marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf.” When so many of us had long thought of the U.S. military as fighting for all Americans.
And then the night Obama admitted to New York donors that he was the most interesting man in the world:
“It is very rare that I come to an event that I am like the fifth or sixth most interesting person. Usually the folks want to take a picture with me, sit next to me, talk with me.“
Now comes a fresh sample of the man with a hat size surely at least 11.
It was the anniversary of that day in Montgomery, Alabama when an NAACP worker, a black woman named Rosa Parks, refused a city bus driver’s orders to give up her seat in the colored section to a white.
Last Saturday was the 57th anniversary of the woman’s catalytic act of defiance aboard Montgomery public transportation.
To honor the historic memory of civil rights leader Rosa Parks, Obama’s White House website posted a photo — not of Rosa Parks, but of Barack Obama.
It’s an eerie photo. Obama was four years old and far away when that seminal civil rights event occurred.
But there he is in the staged photo inserting himself into history via a Michigan museum, sitting alone in the Parks bus forlornly looking out the window as if waiting for his stop.
After all, it’s all about HIM!
He is the Most interesting and most important Man in the world!!
And he wishes he was the Emperor of the World and everyone adored and worshipped him like a God.
Maybe he’s looking for his leadership skills…or Maybe he’s wonder why not every human being on the planet doesn’t fall down and worship almighty, all-knowing, all-compassionate, all-fair, all-encompassing, all around super-being that is HIM!
“If wishes were horses, beggars would ride” is an English proverb which is usually used to suggest that it is useless to wish and that better results will be achieved through action.
But even his actions are insane.
But that’s what the morons voted for, more of the same.
Inspired by Obama’s appearance on David Letterman.
Please stop me when I get to the Bad stuff about Obama’s 4 years:
1. a Net loss of 1.3 million jobs overall.
2. Higher inflation due to devaluing of the dollar.
3. ANNUAL budget deficits in excess of a Trillion Dollars.
4. 15 million more people on Food Stamps.
5. More People than ever on Social Security Disability
6. Unemployment rate over 8% since February 2009. (the real one-U6- over 11%)
7. No Federal Budget since April 2009. $6 Trillion in NEW Debt.
8. Our Ambassador in Libya is killed and he’s still going on about an irrelevant film. Even though the evidence that it was a terrorist attack is overwhelming. But “the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam” according ton Obama in front of the UN.
9. More violent Illegal Aliens crossing the border because this administration is openly unwilling to do anything about it.
10. Fast & Furious
11. Health Care cost continue to rise even higher than they would have without Obamacare. And Obamacare is now going to cost 3 times as much as originally “promised” and it is even fully implemented yet.
12. Oh, yeah, it’s all Bush’s/Republicans/Christians/Rich people’s/Business’s Fault!
13. Totally unconcerned about Taxmageddon coming January 1st, 2013. Let alone the ObamaCare TAX.
14. Drones in US cities.
15. Let’s not meet with world leaders because we have opportunities to appear on David Letterman and The View.
16. Executive Fiats are the order of the day. Don’t get what you want, just go around the process. It’s good to be the King.
17. The Mom-In-Chief Michelle Obama will run your diet for you because you’re a moron. Mother Knows Best.
18. Nancy Pelosi: According to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Republicans are trying “suffocate the airwaves, suppress the vote, poison the debate, [so] people throw up their hands and say, ‘I just don’t even know if I want to participate in this.’” But, “we have to keep the campaign positive.” And Nancy can’t be wrong, right?
19. The Middle Class are NOT better off than they were 4 years ago when everything crashed.
Since the economic recovery started in June 2009, household incomes are down 5.7%, the Sentier data show, and they are down more than 8% since Obama took office. (IBD) But that’s Bush’s Fault! Four years later, with Obama running for re-election, it’s time to ask Americans: How’s that Hope & change workin’ out for you?
20. First, the Congressional Budget Office released a detailed report on Obama’s massive electric car program. Its conclusion: The money “will have little or no impact on the total gasoline use and greenhouse gas emissions of the nation’s vehicle fleet over the next several years.”It also found that, even with the $7,500 tax credits, electric cars are a bad buy, costing owners far more over the life of the car than traditional gas-powered vehicles.Translation: Obama’s electric car subsidies are a complete and total waste of money. (IBD)The Chevy Volt (“ObamaCar”) loses $49,000 every time you sell one. Doesn’t that just say it all.
21. Over $500 Million wasted on Solar Power pie-in-the-sky. Solyndra, Ener 1, Beacon Power,Abound Solar, Amonix Solar,Spectra Watt, Eastern Energy, etc. all bankrupt all cost taxpayers money.
22. Inspirational Speeches23. If you disagree with a Liberal, choose one of the following: a) you’re a racist b) a moron c) you are in the pocket of rich people d) you want rich people to rape you blind.
24. Oh, yes, and the Immortal “YOU DIDN’T BUILD THAT!”
25. Fifty-five percent of small business owners and manufacturers would not have started their businesses in today’s economy, according to a new poll that also reports 69 percent say President Obama’s regulatory policies have hurt their businesses.“There is far too much uncertainty, too many burdensome regulations and too few policymakers willing to put aside their egos and fulfill their responsibilities to the American people,” said Jay Timmons, president of the National Association of Manufacturers, which commissioned the poll along with the National Federation of Independent Businesses. “To fix this problem, we need immediate action on pro-growth tax and regulatory policies that put manufacturers in the United States in a position to compete and succeed in an ever-more competitive global economy.” (Examiner)
Now go out there, full of Hope and Change and Vote for Obama because you want 4 more years just like this…
An alarming data point from the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee: More Americans are being added to food stamps than are finding jobs. The data is detailed in this chart, provided by the committee:
As the chart shows, between April-June 2012 (the most recent three month block for which government data is available), only 200,000 jobs have been created while 265,000 individuals have been added to the food stamp rolls. Additionally, in that time period, 246,000 workers were awarded disability.
Another chart shows that the last three month block is part of a larger trend. The chart, also from the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee, shows that “Workforce Shrinks Since January 2009 While Millions Sign Up For Disability And Food Stamps.”
As the chart shows, since January 2009, when President Barack Obama took office, the net change jobs has been negative (-1.3 million), while 5.7 million workers and dependents have been awarded disability and a whopping 15.1 million have been added to the food stamp rolls.
“A total of 46,670,373 Americans are now on food stamps,” according to the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee. “The food stamp program has doubled in size since 2008 and quadrupled since 2001.”
And the government program isn’t cheap: “Spending on food stamps alone is projected to reach $770 billion over the next decade.” (Weekly Standard)
Round Two:
In remarks this morning to the Clinton Global Initiative, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton proposed a radical idea: a global tax on elites around the world.
“One of the issues that I have been preaching about around the world is collecting taxes in an equitable manner, especially from the elites in every country,” Clinton said to laughter from the audience. “You know I’m out of American politics, but – (applause) – it is a fact that around the world, the elites of every country are making money.”
Clinton continued her rift on the rich. “There are rich people everywhere. And yet they do not contribute to the growth of their own countries.”
The secretary of state suggested that the rich around the world do not give back to their communities. “They don’t invest in public schools, in public hospitals, in other kinds of development internally,” said Clinton.
She continued, saying that it is up to foreign leaders to make the change. “And so it means for leaders telling powerful people things they don’t want to hear,” Clinton said.
“It means being transparent about budgets and revenues and bringing corruption to light. And when that happens, we shouldn’t punish countries for uncovering corruption. We should reward them for doing so. And it means putting in place regulations designed to attract and protect investment.”
Clinton’s boss, Barack Obama, has made raising taxes on the rich–at least, raising taxes on wealthy Americans–a centerpiece of his reelection campaign. (weekly standard)
Wanna know who the 1%er’s are Globally?
What for it… AMERICANS!!!
So the old double whammy!
Fascinating how that worked out!
An American Express/Harrison Group survey found:
According to the survey…
- 67% grew up in a middle class or poorer household. – 85% made their wealth in their lifetime. – 76% describe themselves as “Middle Class” at heart. – 3% is the sum total of their assets that they inherited.
“This is the triumph of the Middle Class,” says Jim Taylor, Vice Chairman of the Harrison Group. “Even when older, the [One Percent] don’t lose the degree with which they see themselves as the repository of the Middle Class. That means hard work. That means the value of education. That means the value of family and luck.” (http://blogs.barrons.com/penta/2012/05/07/who-are-the-one-percent/)
So the Liberal meme, especially about Romney, isn’t true. But if you had half a brain cell you knew that already. But believing it is heresy on the Left. The 1% aren’t just rich kids who inherited their money and robber baron assholes who exploited their employees like slave master in Ancient Egypt building the Pyramids.
But as I have said repeatedly, the truth doesn’t matter to Liberals. Perception does. Perception is reality. Reality is to be denied, debunked or discredited in their heads and they want it to be in yours.
Rich people are the root of all evil. Government is the Fountain of that’s Good.
Republicans are Evil. Democrats are Good.
Earning your own money- Evil. Earning someone elses money- Good.
It’s that simple.
P.s.
The National Business Group on Health this morning released their annual survey of employer health insurance policies. The survey found that health insurance costs are expected to rise another 7% next year. In addition, a majority (60%) of firms “plan to increase the percentage of the premium paid by employees in 2013,” while sizable numbers of firms plan to increase in-network deductibles (40%), out-of-network deductibles (33%), and/or out-of-pocket maximums (32%).
Candidate Obama repeatedly promised premiums would go down by $2,500 — and would go down that amount by this year. Yet while candidate Obama promised that premiums would go DOWN by $2,500, they actually have gone UP by nearly as much – from $12,680 in 2008 to $15,073 in 2011.
What’s more, even though candidate Obama promised that “you will not have to change plans,” today’s survey found that the number of firms able to keep their pre-Obamacare coverage has decreased yet again. Fully 57% of firms said they had no health plans with “grandfathered” (i.e., pre-Obamacare) status, and only about one-quarter (27%) were able to keep any portion of their coverage from before Obamacare’s passage – just two short years ago. (Freedom works)
But remember, if you live in reality of what is, you just wanna throw grandmas under the bus and off the cliff!
You have to live in Liberal fantasy land where they are always right no matter what reality says and everything is kumbuya utopia, or at least it will be once they completely and utterly crush you under their boots and make you do everything they want when they want because they want.
President Obama has learned something during his presidency: You can’t change Washington from the inside.
“The most important lesson I’ve learned is that you can’t change Washington from the inside,” he told a Univision forum Thursday. “You can only change it from the outside.” (free beacon)
So the president’s revelation that “you” can’t change Washington from the inside wasn’t directed at you. It was an admission that voters should consider this November. Obama has quit trying to be the agent of change, and he publicly acknowledged that Obama II would just be more of the same. (WP)
More “flexible”.
The exact opposite of what he said when running the first time. Gee, I guess he really is a great leader….
When the federal government began providing billions of dollars in incentives to push hospitals and physicians to use electronic medical and billing records, the goal was not only to improve efficiency and patient safety, but also to reduce health care costs.
But, in reality, the move to electronic health records may be contributing to billions of dollars in higher costs for Medicare, private insurers and patients by making it easier for hospitals and physicians to bill more for their services, whether or not they provide additional care.
Hospitals received $1 billion more in Medicare reimbursements in 2010 than they did five years earlier, at least in part by changing the billing codes they assign to patients in emergency rooms, according to a New York Times analysis of Medicare data from the American Hospital Directory. Regulators say physicians have changed the way they bill for office visits similarly, increasing their payments by billions of dollars as well.
Over all, hospitals that received government incentives to adopt electronic records showed a 47 percent rise in Medicare payments at higher levels from 2006 to 2010, the latest year for which data are available, compared with a 32 percent rise in hospitals that have not received any government incentives, according to the analysis by The Times. (NYT)
ObamaCare Strikes Again!
And another liberal “promise” goes ass backwards. Gee, that never happens. Must be someone elses fault!
Many doctors and hospitals were actually underbilling before they began keeping electronic records, said Dr. David J. Brailer, an early federal proponent of digitizing records and an official in the George W. Bush administration. But Dr. Brailer, who invests in health care companies, acknowledged that the use of electronic records “makes it faster and easier to be fraudulent.”
So it must be George Bush’s Fault!!! I Knew it!
Everything in life is, you know…:)
But you know there’s a problem when the liberals in charge are lying about it.
But some critics say an unintended consequence is the ease with which doctors and hospitals can upcode — industry parlance for seeking a higher rate of reimbursement than is justified. They say there is too little federal oversight of electronic records.
A spokesman for the Health and Human Services Department, however, said electronic health records “can improve the quality of care, save lives and save money.” Medicare, he added in an e-mailed statement, “has strong protections in place to prevent fraud and abuse of this technology that we’re improving all the time.”
He also said Medicare had reduced improper payments in the last two years.
Isn’t that EXACT opposite of what the Doctors and Hospitals are doing. Must be a Talking Point.
George Will: An attractive aspect of Romney as a candidate is how endearingly unsuited he is to politics in an era when “friend” has become a verb.
Would that he could just say this:
“I am not running to be your friend, because I hope you pick your friends from among people you actually know and for reasons unrelated to politics.
“And I will not insult your intelligence by claiming to feel your pain, which really is yours. Neither will I tell you that as president I would pacify distant mobs.
” I am running just to make government somewhat less destructive, to partially ameliorate the country’s largest afflictions, and to make the world a bit less dangerous.
“My candidacy comes down to an eight-word question, and it is not ‘Will you call me about your tummy ache?’ Rather, it is: ‘Is this really the best we can do?’ It is difficult to prevent Americans from briskly creating wealth, but bad choices by both parties have done so.
“My opponent is making many promises, although a simple apology would suffice. My promise is that although I will not really create millions of jobs, I will, if Congress cooperates, remove some of the obstacles to your doing so.
“If you want a president who is the center of a government-centered society, pick the other fellow. If you endorse a dependency agenda — more and more people dependent in more and more ways on a government fewer and fewer are paying for — vote for the other party.
“If you do not share my opponent’s horror about being mostly on your own in the pursuit of happiness that you define on your own, give me a try. If it doesn’t work out, you can fire me in four years.”
Someday, someone is going to seek the presidency by demystifying it. Many voters will be astonished by, and even be grateful for, the novelty of being addressed as adults.
Unlikely. Because they’d have to react as adults and I just don’t see that happening .
—Congress early Saturday completed its major task for the week with Senate passage of a six-month stopgap spending bill to keep federal agencies running past the end of the budget year and the elections. The House approved the legislation last week. Action was needed before the budget year ends on Sept. 30 to avoid a partial government shutdown.
So no Federal Budget passed yet again.
Major legislation left for the lame-duck session in November:
—Congress has yet to deal with the tax cuts that will expire at the end of the year, including the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts, tax cuts for middle-class households, tax credits for businesses and the payroll tax cut.
—Congress must still decide what to do about spending cuts of $109 billion to defense and non-defense programs that will take place automatically at the start of the new year if alternatives are not found.
—Congress faces a Jan. 1 deadline to avert an almost 30 percent cut in Medicare reimbursements to doctors. (so they charge more now?)
—The current five-year farm and nutrition bill, which sets policy for farm safety net programs and funds the food stamp program, expires Sept. 30. The Senate passed a new five-year bill in June and the House Agriculture Committee approved its version in July, but the full House has yet to act. The two chambers also have not been able to agree on disaster relief for farmers hit by the drought.
—The Senate has passed legislation to overhaul the Postal Service, which is losing $25 million a day, but the House has yet to act.
—Russia joined the World Trade Organization in August, but Congress has yet to vote on legislation to remove Cold War trading restrictions so U.S. businesses can enjoy the lower tariffs and greater protections that come with WTO membership.
—The House in May passed a $635 billion defense policy bill, but the full Senate has yet to act.
—The Senate last summer was unable to advance legislation to protect U.S. industries from cyber-attacks.
—The Senate and House have passed legislation to extend and expand the Violence Against Women Act, but no agreement has been reached. (Townhall)
The Fast & Furious report from the Inspector General’s Office is in and guess what no one important is to blame for Fast & Furious.
What a shocker.
The script for this Dog-n-Pony show was written before it was it started.
The Wolves have investigated the Chicken house and decided a couple of pups got over excited and they can eat those, but over all, no big deal.
And Brian Terry is still Dead.
100′s maybe thousands of Mexicans are still dead.
But at least one of the Wolves pronounced after nearly 2 years that the Pack leader didn’t do it.
They feel better now. Move on. They have more important Romney bashing to do.
Oh, and it’s Bush’s Fault! Imagine that!
The White House’s refusal to release communications related to the Fast and Furious gun-walking program and the refusal of a White House official to be interviewed about the matter “made it impossible” for the inspector general (IG) of the Justice Department to “pursue that aspect of the case,” the IG, Michael Horowitz, testified.
But Obama repeatedly said he had nothing to do with it.
The IG report states, “We also sought to interview Kevin O’Reilly, an official with the White House National Security Staff, about communications he had in 2010 with Special Agent in Charge William Newell that included information about Operation Fast and Furious. O’Reilly declined through his personal counsel our request for an interview.”
Bill Newell was the ATF Special Agent in Charge for the Phoenix, Ariz., office that was running Operation Fast and Furious.
The IG report says, “We sought to interview O’Reilly in light of e-mail communications he had with Special Agent in Charge Bill Newell in 2010.” newell
“Newell told us that he had known O’Reilly during previous field office assignments and that the two shared information about firearms trafficking issues relevant to their geographic areas of responsibility,” the report said. “According to Newell, O’Reilly was also friends with ATF’s White House Liaison and through that relationship O’Reilly would be included on some information sharing between Newell and the ATF Liaison about ATF’s efforts on the Southwest Border, and that O’Reilly eventually communicated with Newell directly.”
Operation Fast and Furious was run by the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives), which is overseen by the Department of Justice, headed by Attorney General Eric Holder. The program, which ran from the fall of 2009 to mid-December 2010, allowed guns to “walk” into the hands of Mexican drug cartels through straw purchasers.
More than 2,000 firearms, largely AK-47s and 5.7 caliber pistols, were sold and allowed to walk. The ATF recovered only about 100 of the 2,000-plus weapons. In January 2010, a straw purchaser, Jaime Avila – well known to the ATF — bought three AK-47s at a Phoenix-area gun store. Two of those weapons were later found at the murder scene of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry on Dec. 14, 2010.
After Terry’s death, Operation Fast and Furious was halted and Avila was arrested.
O’Reilly’s attorney reportedly said that his client would agree to a telephone interview (he was in Iraq) with the committee but only if the White House said okay. White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler has stated that O’Reilly will not be permitted to give an interview.(CNS)
The report our attorney general used to justify withholding evidence of who was responsible for the administration program that led to the deaths of two U.S. agents is out. It delivers more scapegoats than answers.
The release by the Department of Justice’s inspector general of a 400-page report on the administration’s gun-walking operation, Fast and Furious, is no big surprise.
As Inspector General Michael Horowitz testified Thursday before the House Oversight and Government Reform (OGR) Committee, Fast and Furious represented a “pattern of serious failures” by various agencies.
But he let the buck stop short of where it belongs — Attorney General Eric Holder’s desk.
Horowitz mysteriously chose to lump Fast and Furious, as Team Obama does, with a Bush-era program, Wide Receiver. That operation was run out of Tucson between 2006 and 2007, ending before Bush left office and before Fast and Furious began in 2009.
Both Wide Receiver and Fast and Furious were part of a bigger effort called Project Gunrunner, which began in 2006. Even so, the differences between the two are vast, starting with the fact that Wide Receiver produced no dead bodies. It was run in close cooperation with Mexican authorities, as Fast and Furious wasn’t, and involved gun-tracing and not gun-walking.
The report was repeatedly invoked by Holder as a reason for withholding answers and documents on Fast and Furious from OGR Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif.
Along with Sen. Charles Grassley, D-Iowa, Issa led the investigation of the operation that saw Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and ICE Agent Jaime Zapata murdered with guns supplied by the program. Holder, held in contempt by the House, still isn’t very forthcoming.
The report incredibly found “no evidence … (Holder) was informed about Operation Fast and Furious, or learned about the tactics employed by ATF in the investigation.” But Holder’s own statements contradict that.
So scapegoats had to be found, and the report cites 14 other department employees for potential wrongdoing and recommends Justice consider disciplinary action.
Jason Weinstein, the deputy assistant attorney general for the criminal division, is resigning after the report essentially concluded he was the one best positioned to stop Fast and Furious. That’s false — Eric Holder was.
As early as Oct. 22, 2010, before agent Terry’s murder, a DOJ official sent Holder a memo saying: “It’s not going to be a big surprise that a bunch of U.S. guns are being used in (Mexico), so I’m not sure how much grief we get for ‘guns walking.’” Holder said he didn’t recall the memo.
Nor does he probably recall a speech he gave to Mexican authorities in Cuernavaca, Mexico, on April 2, 2009, taking credit for Gunrunner as well as Fast and Furious for himself and the Obama administration.
Holder told the audience: “Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels…(and) to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner.”
It’s important to note that Gunrunner and Fast and Furious both ran guns to Mexican cartels under the DOJ umbrella and the chains of command all led to Holder.
The report doesn’t contain the answers the Terry and Zapata families, or the American people, were looking for. But it does show that either Holder is culpable or incompetent. And either way, he should be fired. (IBD)
But at least we now know it was Bush’s Fault and all is right with the Liberal World.
Mindless, unthinking, programmed machines that just do as they are programmed and attack when ordered and are only capable of doing what they are told to do an no more. They do not go outside their programming.
They update their software constantly with the newest Talking Points. And they defend the programming at all costs. Call it their Anti-Virus software.
Obama like Drones.
They do as they are told. They are impersonal. They get the job done that he doesn’t want to sully himself with and they make him look better than he actually is. What could be better.
So they are God’s perfect creation. And those are just the machines
The #1 Anti-Virus Software today is “Bush Derangement Syndrome”. It allows the drone to blame every conceivable thing in the universe that could possible harm the Drone or the Drone’s Master on this ultimate evil in the all of mankind.
It’s always his fault.
And if that option is not available then you have deflection, distraction, disrespect and “racist” to fall back on.
The integrity of the Drone Unit and it’s programmers is sacrosanct.
So what could be better than an Army of Drones?
Drones with TV Cameras and Blogs, of course.
For like any computer virus they must pro-create and must spread their “truth”.
You too will be assimilated. Or else.
To demonstrate: I was having a “discussion” (there is no actual discussion with a hardcore liberal because the childish contempt and disrespect they have for anyone who isn’t a drone makes that impossible but it’s fun to try) with on online yesterday because he was complaining about “obstructionist” Republicans.
“obstructionist” Republicans was a software update that started in 2010 when the Democrats lost the House. You become an “obstructionist” by not doing as the Drones want you to.
So I asked the question of him about the fact that the US Senate, Controlled by Democrats since 2007 has not passed a Budget since 2009 but the Republicans have passed on every year so how are they “obstructing” the process?
Well, the little worker drone promptly replied that “the Republicans were not in control of The Senate”.
So let’s analyze that rather baffling response (if you have any logical thinking left in you).
The Democrats can’t be “obstructing” the process according to him. Only Republicans are “obstructionists”. Therefore, since the Republicans are not in control of the US Senate (or the Presidency for that matter) the US Senate is not “obstructing” anything!
The fact that Republicans pass bills and a Budget and the Senate just ignores them is the Republicans fault . You know this because every time you bring up the Budget Talking Point Alpha-191 “The Ryan Budget will kill old people and hurt children and doesn’t work” or a variation on this will invariable come up and they are usually very close to the same talking points over and over again.
It’s an almost autonomic response. A programmed response? Hmmm…
They can’t help themselves and they can’t be reasoned with for the same reason you can’t have a reasoned, logic argument with a computer. It only knows what it was programmed with and will error out anything that is not correct.
In Star Trek Terms, if you are not “of the Body” you are to be rejected and eliminated. To enforce its will, Landru maintained an army of lawgivers. These brown-robed individuals were under extremely deep control; they lacked all volition except what Landru supplied.
Today, we call them The Liberal Elite and The Liberal Media. They law down the law and you are just suppose to do it because they say so. And if they want something they will continue to press for it until they get it regardless.
A relentless, merciless, unrelenting computer programmed to always be right about everything and to control everyone.
You will be Assimilated.
“We are the Borg. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.”
There is a reason they are called Borg DRONES.
All the evils of the universe are derived from their enemies. The “Not We”, the one’s not “of The Body” or un-assimilated.
It’s YOUR fault. You are the error.
“The 9000 series is the most reliable computer ever made. No 9000 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information. We are all, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error.“
The 9000 series Liberal is here and you will be assimilated,
Now isn’t that just peachy.
One Dictionary Definition: Drone: a person who lives on the labor of others; parasitic loafer.
Ratings firm Egan-Jones cut its credit rating on the U.S. government to “AA-” from “AA,” citing its opinion that quantitative easing from the Federal Reserve would hurt the U.S. economy and the country’s credit quality.
It was AAA when Obama took over. But I’m sure it all Bush’s fault!
WH Spokesman Jay Carney: ‘This is not a case of protests directed at the United States writ large or at U.S. policy, this is in response to a video that is offensive to Muslims’
So sacking multiple embassies, burning American flag, shouting “death to America” in 20 countries is just about a silly film and not a coordinated attack as some others have said. I feel better now.
They torched a KFC in Lebanon. They must have been showing the movie in the lobby. It couldn’t possibly have been because it a American symbol because all this rage is about a movie not America.
So it’s about a movie on the internet and not a coordinated terrorist attack on the 11th anniversary of another terrorist attack. Nope, Not at all.
It has to be about the film to the liberals because otherwise it’s about THEM and their appeasement and apology strategy. And we all know liberals are never wrong about anything and The Ministry of Truth has to keep the administration strong.
To quote The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, “America’s Chicken’s have come home to roost!”
And it’s all George Bush’s Fault!
Obama in 2011 said: “We must stand alongside those who believe in the same core principles that have guided us through many storms … our support for a set of universal rights, including the freedom for people to express themselves and choose their leaders; our support for the governments that are ultimately responsive to the aspirations of the people.”
The Libyan mob was the equivalent of our founding fathers! (If you overlook the part about it being a murderous Islamic mob.) That was tied to the Muslim Brotherhood even then.
But Liberal weren’t listening. They were too caught in their own foreign policy “success” to listen to reason.
Now they have to be unreasonable and go great rhetorical lengths to avoid being blamed for it.
The American Revolution was not the revolt of a mob. It was a carefully thought-out plan for a republic, based on ideas painstakingly argued by serious men in the process of creating what would become the freest, most prosperous nation in world history. The much-ballyhooed “Arab Spring,” with mobs of men gang-raping American reporters, firing guns in the air and murdering their erstwhile dictators, is more akin to the pointless bloodletting of the French Revolution.
That godless antithesis to the founding of America is the primogenitor of the horrors of the Bolshevik Revolution, Hitler’s Nazi Party, Mao’s Cultural Revolution, Pol Pot’s slaughter and America’s periodic mob uprisings, from Shays’ Rebellion to today’s union thugs in Madison, Wis., and Occupy Wall Street.
Americans did win freedom and greater individual rights with their revolution. By contrast, the French Revolution resulted in bestial savagery, a slaughter of all the revolution’s leaders, followed by Napoleon’s dictatorship, followed by another monarchy, and then finally something resembling an actual republic 80 years later.
Violent mob uprisings have never led to a functioning democratic republic. (Ann Coulter)
And the “arab spring” was not a democracy movement. You replace 1 titular dictator with a religious version of dictators. Hardly something to crow about.
The Ministry of Truth is involved with news media, entertainment, the fine arts and educational books. Its purpose is to rewrite history and change the facts to fit Party doctrine for propaganda effect. For example, if Big Brother makes a prediction that turns out to be wrong, the employees of the Ministry of Truth go back and rewrite the prediction so that any prediction Big Brother previously made is accurate. This is the “how” of the Ministry of Truth’s existence. Within the novel Orwell elaborates that the deeper reason for its existence is to maintain the illusion that the Party is absolute. It cannot ever seem to change its mind for that would imply weakness and to maintain power the Party must seem eternally right and strong.
So it’s about a movie.
Obama in 2007: The Day I’m Inaugurated the Muslim World Will Look at America Differently
Yeah as weak, tired and not willing to fight. So they can do whatever they want.
4 dead bodies arrive from Libya, it’s time for another Fundraiser! Got have those priorities straight.
In the Daily Caller, Neil Munro reports that the Obama administration has asked YouTube to suppress the offensive film that is the pretext for some of the Islamist rioting. This is, of course, in accordance with the demands of the Muslim brotherhood.
It goes without saying that such government interference in speech protected by the First Amendment is uncomfortably close to a complete betrayal of the President’s oath to protect and defend the US Constitution. The “speech” to which the Islamists object is, true, offensive. So is “Piss Christ” and a variety of other anti-Christian (or anti-Semitic) rhetoric. But under our foundational principles, speech rights cannot be abridged by the government unless its purpose is to incite imminent lawless action. This doesn’t cover a film criticizing a religion (even if the film is tasteless and repugnant), i.e., something that might ruffle sensitivities enough to make people want to riot once they can get a riot organized. It means instead something like a person on the spot urging on an angry and hysterical crowd, say, to attack an embassy.
As it turns out, the administration’s move shows as much respect for the First Amendment’s free speech provisions as the ObamaCare contraceptive mandate shows for the First Amendment’s religious guarantees.
Munro’s piece suggests that the Obama administration is trying to quell the Islamist unrest at almost any cost, given the threat it constitutes to the President’s re-election. Each voter will have to decide for him- or herself whether that’s true, but it is deeply troubling that the Obama administration is willing to ride roughshod over the American Constitution in order to appease our enemies.
Where does this end? (DC)
November 6th, when you vote to get rid of this OBAMAnation. Or else.
a new report from the Institute for Supply Management shows that manufacturing dropped by the largest amount in three years during the month of August. Unfortunately, construction is also down. It declined by the largest measure in a year – not a positive indication of a healthy economy. These are leading indicators, and they foretell an increase in unemployment in the months to come. Reduced manufacturing and construction require reduced labor, and lower labor demand results in higher unemployment. (KFYI)
But since that doesn’t fit the Democrat Talking points it will be ignored. Focus on “we created 4.5 million jobs for 29 consecutive months” which is statistical game of deception and is like saying while standing in the middle of a forest fire- “but that tree is fine”. The rest is Bush’s Fault.
Yeah, that’s the ticket. The Democrat ticket.
Then the Democrats had to contend with the fact that they shoved God out of the platform completely and threw Israel under the bus AGAIN.
Poor babies. Bet the Ministry of Truth covered that one up fast!!
DNC chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) says the omission of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the word God in the party platform was a “technical oversight” because it is “many pages long.”
And ObamaCare at 2700 pages wasn’t?
I guess they passed it so they could know what was in it!
It’s not surprising they would deliberately misquote me. What I always say is that unfortunately the Republicans have made Israel a political football, which is dangerous for Israel. (RCP)
No, she clearly did not. But that’s a Liberal for you. I’m going to tell you what I said and you’ve going to believe it. And that’s that.
Then the Democrats called for a vote on the amendments to cram it back in…
Many in the audience booed after the convention chairman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, ruled that the amendments had been approved despite the fact that a large group of delegates objected. He called for a vote three times before ruling and it was clear by the audio that it wasn’t adopted and after 3 embarrassing attempts they just adopted it because they had to even though they don’t believe it. Because Perception is reality and they didn’t want THAT perception.
Perfectly liberal.
Debbie again, “I can assure that that no one has deliberately taken God out of our platform,” and refused to say anything more.
It was obviously a secret Republican conspiracy to make them look bad.
When Clinton pronounced in 1996 that “the era of big government is over,” it was taken as a concession to the new conservatism that swept to control of Congress just over a year earlier. But Clinton’s rhetorical move was more tactical than fundamental. He never stopped believing in the power of government. And now that Republicans are putting forward the most emphatically pro-business, anti-government agenda on offer since the Gilded Age, he and his fellow Democrats now feel an urgency to assert the state’s positive role. The economic market, they insist, cannot deliver what the nation needs all by itself. Thus, one of the most applauded lines of the convention’s first night came from Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts. “It’s time for Democrats to grow a backbone,” Patrick proclaimed, “and stand up for what we believe.” Rarely has a party so fully embraced a declaration that implied its own past spinelessness. Speaker after speaker answered Patrick’s call.
While Michelle Obama’s speech, the performance of her life, was apolitical on the surface, it regularly came back to arguing, subtly and implicitly, that hardworking Americans who start out on the social ladder’s lower rungs can be assisted in their struggles by the empowering hand of government.
In his keynote address, Mayor Julian Castro of San Antonio was explicit about this: “We know that you can’t be pro-business unless you’re pro-education,” he said. “We know that pre-K and student loans aren’t charity.” Over and over, government was presented not as an officious intermeddler in people’s lives but as an ally of families determined to help their children to rise.(RCP)
Thomas Purcell: The Democratic National Convention last night was a who’s who from a den of liars, trollops and felons. Central to the theme of the convention was the idea that somehow a group of misogynistic men and women can somehow represent the rights of women’s suffrage and freedom. Starting with an homage to Ted Kennedy, the man who has the first confirmed kill in the war on women on a wooden bridge in Chappaquiddick, this circus event continued on with a repeated lineup of speakers that were arguing that somehow women’s freedom relied upon making women dependent upon government entitlements.
What a lineup! You had people like Sandra Fluke who is a grown woman that is demanding the taxpayers pay for her birth control so that she can act wantonly and without responsibility or thought, and then it was followed up with a President who is known perjurer and adulterer telling us how bad the Republicans are and how great Obama is to a crowd of people that were torn between booing God and the Israeli people who are under threat of extermination on a daily basis.
Yes that’s right, this leftist bunch booed God when the platform vote came around. The worst part is the yahoos who ran the procedure then stuffed the ballot box for God and passed the resolution over the screaming mobs demanding the name of God be stricken from the record.
But the all-time ‘take the cake’ speaker was a known and self professed illegal alien Benita Veliz standing in front of this crowd of miscreants telling America how wrong they are for daring to say ‘these are our borders and we will protect them’.
Ignore the law, screw the people that came here legally, I want my free stuff.
Just in case you missed it, the DREAM executive order that was protecting Ms. Veliz from ICE storming the stage and dragging her off kicking and screaming doesn’t give her amnesty, it merely prevents her from deportation. As an illegal alien she is still breaking the law and committing a felony by being here—she is just immune from prosecution while in school.
What they aren’t telling you is that the DREAM executive order doesn’t protect anyone else in that room. That’s right folks; every person in that convention center is potentially an accomplice to a felony, namely harboring an illegal alien. Last I checked anyway we still had laws about our borders.
We are being looted as a nation and the Democrats are cheering it on like a foaming emperor at a Roman games.
The entire mantra of the left wing this week has been the same- me me me, give me my free stuff on the back of those that produce for society. Take the wealth from the productive, tear down the laws, and use the Constitution to wipe your posterior with.
Change.
Well not me, I still believe that America stands for something, that we obey the law until such time as a representative body like Congress changes it. When Obamacare passed, I don’t remember anyone in the GOP saying it should be ignored or disobeyed, they argued to vote for them to repeal it.
That’s why I’ll be voting Republican in November.
So should you, unless you want lawlessness, chaos and mayhem, with government at your throats telling you that you have too much stuff and are taking it away. (RCP)
The easiest way to trip up a Democrat in Charlotte for the national convention is to ask him to answer this question: What is Obama’s vision for a second term? The placeholder answer, of course, is “creating an economy built to last.” But this talking point has, even to Democrats, begun to wear thin. It’s often repeated, but lacks definition. “Nobody really knows what that means,” said Joe Trippi, a Democratic strategist who handled Jerry Brown’s gubernatorial campaign in 2010. So even though Obama’s reelection slogan is “Forward,” there’s not much talk—at least not yet—of what the country would move forward toward, or of the specific policies that Obama would enact to propel the nation up and out of the current low-wattage economic recovery. Would it include comprehensive immigration reform? Would it include tax reform? Would it include changes to Medicare and Medicaid beyond those in the 2010 health care law? Would it include any effort to limit greenhouse-gas emissions? Would it include any sustained effort to reduce poverty among African-Americans?
Reelection campaigns are typically defined by the incumbent’s policy achievements and what they tell voters about what is to come. Obama has spent precious little time extolling his accomplishments in that area, with the exception of laws requiring new and widespread financial regulations and ensuring pay equity for women. His signature overhaul of health care remains largely unmentioned. For a full day on national television, Obama advisers were bedeviled by the question, “Are people better off than they were four years ago?” On Monday, the campaign declared “yes,” people were better off, but knew it still had some explaining to do. With such difficulty dealing with reelection basics—what you have done and are people better off—it might be assumed that Obama’s team would by now have fortified the “forward” part of its message. Forward in pursuit of what? Forward! To something! (With a heavy dose of “flexibility”). Super. (Townhall)
The DNC Convention starts tonight. It will be Orwell on Display.
Freedom is Slavery. (Class) War is Peace. Ignorance is Strength. And my favourite, my own – FEAR IS HOPE.
1. Lie
2. It’s All Bush’s Fault.
3. Vote for me, the other guy is an Asshole. And I’m a charming Snake Oil Salesman.
4. They want to bring back “the past” (evil) but I want to remind you how good we say it was in the past before “the past” aka Clinton.
So FORWARD to the 1990s!
Community Re-Investment Act, Welfare Reform, The Democrats lose control of Congress for the first since 1954. The .Com bubble and recession late in the decade that carried over to “the past”. The ignoring of signs of trouble from Bin Laden. NAFTA (the outsourcing bill).
The Good Old Days.
Because we sure as hell ain’t talk about the last 4 years. But we want 4 more years to do even more of it.
He is after all he has a self described “bipartisan centrist approaches.” that involves cramming down ObamaCare in the partisan vote probably since the Civil War Days. Executive Order Fiats and regulatory Fiats when he doesn’t get his way. The US Senate controlled by Democrats has not passed a Budget since April 2009. The Democrats refuse to even consider bills from Republicans.
But he’s a “centrist”.
Victor David Hanson: What had once been a daring liberal agenda gradually ossified into a reactionary dogma that the poor are always to be defined in relative terms to those better off, never by absolute standards of global wealth and poverty, and thus are always in need of yet more government help. The goal became collective equality rather than a safety net to mitigate the effects of misfortune, accident, and illness.
In other words, what started out as visionary in the 20 years between the mid-1930s and the mid-1950s insidiously became reactionary, on the premise that always more was unquestioned. So much so that today the liberal vision — the blue-state model, the Democratic orthodoxy, whatever we wish to call it — is a rigid creed that demands ever more government spending and ever more government redistribution. It fosters an ever-growing elite technocracy that oversees the system but wins the capital and influence to be unaffected by the ramifications of its own ideology. Reactionary liberalism, as some sort of cult, assumes that its policies are exempt from audit, and that indeed to audit them casts suspicion on the motives and aims of the auditor himself.
The dogma, as embraced by Barack Obama, assumes a number of reactionary givens that cannot be questioned or, indeed, even discussed.
Nor can reactionary liberalism allow discussion of issues of human concern that had been the stuff of debate and discussion since the Greeks. Is poverty sometimes a result not just of ill health, bad luck, lack of education, generational poverty, racism, sexism, or discrimination, but also of personal choices: the decision to commit a crime, use drugs, have out-of-wedlock children, or drop out of high school?
Most of the architects of contemporary liberalism who berate the “You didn’t build that” capitalists, or the 1 percenters, or “angry old white men,” themselves live as 1 percenters, on the fruits of capitalism, and are mostly white. Take a John Kerry, Al Gore, Bill Clinton, John Edwards, or Harry Reid, or an Andrea Mitchell, Katie Couric, or George Clooney: Their own habits are indistinguishable from those of the people they castigate. The implicit defense of their hypocrisies is that they are principled traitors to their class. But the actual landscape of their reactionary liberalism is that they simply are so privileged that they will never be subject to the baleful ramifications of their ideology…
But if you don’t vote for Democrat, especially Obama, you’re a Greedy, angry, Racist and Vote for Obama, he’s not an asshole!
For the new reactionaries, the challenge is no longer proving that unionized teachers improve public education. Few any more argue that the unionized employee provides a better service at a more economical cost to the taxpayer than does his non-unionized counterpart. We simply do not discuss whether existing welfare programs result in more humane and vibrant inner cities. Who cares whether appurtenances that were once the domain of the wealthy are now easily accessible to the underclass? Instead, all that matters is how to ensure that the reactionary system continues, for the benefit of those who administer it, those who receive from it, and those who feel good about it.
They no longer believe that their creed works or can work, only that somehow it must remain in control — or else.
Armageddon awaits you if you don’t vote for Obama. That’s The DNC’s message.
Had an interesting but short (because of time) conversation between me (right of center) another friend (somewhat left of center) and someone who is just left, not extreme left (but Obama bumper sticker left).
The one thing we could all agree on was that if we could replace EVERYONE in Congress we’d do it, in a heart beat.
Fascinating.
But that’s not the issue. And the Democrats are not running on the issue anyhow.
Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley of Maryland, who is considered a possible contender for president in 2016, bucked other Obama surrogates on Sunday, saying that the country was not better off now than it was four years ago.
On CBS’s Face the Nation, host Bob Schieffer asked: “Can you honestly say that people are better off today than they were four years ago?”
Responded O’Malley: “No, but that’s not the question of this election. The question, without a doubt, we are not as well off as we were before George Bush brought us the Bush job losses, the Bush recession, the Bush deficits, the series of desert wars — charged for the first time to credit cards, the national credit card.”
Quipped Schieffer: “George Bush is not on the ballots.” (NJ)
But he is for Democrats.
For Democrats it’s Bush/Ayn Rand Vs. The Greatest Most Caring, Most Compassionate, Greatest Dad,Killer of Bin Laden Bad ass, Black Man Ever! and…joe biden (small letters intentional).
They are the voice of reason against the insane on the right.
Perception is reality. And reality can be rewritten and overridden.
So the fact that they are insane is irrelevant.
Just as Democrats are gaveling in their convention Tuesday, the federal government likely will announce another dubious milestone — $16 trillion in total federal debt.
But don’t worry, that’s Bush’s Fault!!
David Axelrod a top adviser to Mr. Obama, said the president has a “plausible plan” to stabilize the debt, but acknowledged the plan doesn’t actually begin to reduce it.
“You can’t balance the budget in the short term because to do that would be to ratchet down the economy,” he said.
Antonio Villaraigosa, chairman of the Democratic National Convention says Obama has a plan to cut $4 trillion from the deficit. Obama plans to raise taxes on the wealthiest and cut them for the middle class, he said.
And that the Republicans plans are from “1812″.
Los Angeles has lost close to 140,000 jobs since the 2007 financial crisis. While other cities have rebounded, L.A.’s unemployment rate hovers well above 10% and is on the verge of bankruptcy.
But don’t pay attention to the man behind the curtain.
Though Villaraigosa has been mayor since 2005 and despite spending months on junkets outside of the city, he remains popular with his base coalition of Latinos and wealthy Westside liberals — two groups that deliver votes and seemingly never fall out of love with him.
Maybe that’s key to the high esteem in which he’s held by national Democrats. Like them, Villaraigosa shows little interest in governing — only in political power. And like them, he too is economically incompetent.
Gee, maybe his prominence shouldn’t be puzzling at all. He’s the perfect emblem for the Democrats. (IBD)
The Next Obama, a “clean, articulate black man” (as Biden once said of Obama) and another snake oil salesman for the class warfare age.
Axelrod for his part called the Republican Convention a failure,“He spoke for 45 minutes and never really offered any real ideas for how to move the economy forward, how to lift the middle class. And in that sense, I think his convention was a terrible failure.”
But all he has is a “plausible plan” and 4 years of crap THAT didn’t work.
But you aren’t supposed to notice that. You are supposed to focus on how “extreme” the Republicans are and fear what they going to do to you. What the Democrats are going to to is irrelevant.
Vote Democrats because the Republicans are extremist assholes.
Perception is reality. Reality can be overridden.
And the other guys fault for everything. Even your own mistakes.
They (Republicans) are the extremist who want kick grandma off a cliff, steal candy from babies, hand out wire coat hangers to every woman and crush you so their “rich” friends can party hardy.
The fact that Democrats are MORE extreme is not to be noticed and if it is, squashed by even more extreme fear-mongering by The Ministry of Truth.
That’s reality.
Few people have the imagination for reality.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
The growth of entitlement payments over the past half-century has been breathtaking. In 1960, U.S. government transfers to individuals totaled about $24 billion in current dollars, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. By 2010 that total was almost 100 times as large. Even after adjusting for inflation and population growth, entitlement transfers to individuals have grown 727% over the past half-century, rising at an average rate of about 4% a year.
In 2010 alone, government at all levels oversaw a transfer of over $2.2 trillion in money, goods and services. The burden of these entitlements came to slightly more than $7,200 for every person in America. Scaled against a notional family of four, the average entitlements burden for that year alone approached $29,000.
What happened to the days of limited government? Wasn’t the American government founded on the idea of governing the people, not stepping into their lives every day to provide them with handouts? Since when was the major job of the federal government to protect, manage and finance the entitlement empire?
Of course Medicare is not the only entitlement program, these statistics include Medicaid and Social Security, too. It seems with this development it is likely we will see this become a major point of discussion in the next two months of campaigning. Hopefully the debates will make it easy for both candidates to explain where they see the future of entitlement programs.
It seems that we need to make sure that this is not a trend that continues. With an exponentially growing debt, we can’t possibly continue this kind of spending. Never mind our founding fathers, President Franklin D. Roosevelt would not believe what these programs have become. This was never meant to be part of the federal government’s responsibility. (townhall)
But that’s reality. But doing anything about it is evil, mean, cruel, and heartless. That’s the Democrats created reality.
The reality of more Dependents (Baby boomers) and less producers (their kids and grandkids) is reality. But addressing the issue is throwing grandma off a cliff.
Fascinating how that works. And Fascinating who that reality benefits.
As Democrats convene in Charlotte this week, they likely will double down on their claim that Bain Capital is really the Bain Crime Family. They will accuse Republican nominee Mitt Romney and Bain’s other “greedy” co-founders of stealing their profits, evading taxes, and lighting cigars with $100 bills on their yachts.
Bain’s private-equity investments have enriched dozens of organizations and millions of individuals in the Democratic base — including some who scream most loudly for President Obama’s reelection.
Government-employee pension funds are the chief beneficiaries of Bain Capital’s economic stewardship. New York–based Preqin uses public documents, news accounts, and Freedom of Information Act requests to track private-equity holdings. Since 2000, Preqin reports, the following funds have entrusted some $1.56 billion to Bain:
Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund ($2.2 million) Indiana Public Retirement System ($39.3 million) Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System ($177.1 million) Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension System ($19.5 million) Maryland State Retirement and Pension System ($117.5 million) Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada ($20.3 million) State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio ($767.3 million) Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement System ($231.5 million) Employees Retirement System of Rhode Island ($25.0 million) San Diego County Employees Retirement Association ($23.5 million) Teacher Retirement System of Texas ($122.5 million) Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System ($15.0 million)
These pension funds aggregate the savings of millions of unionized teachers, social workers, public-health personnel, and first responders. Many of them would be startled to learn that their nest eggs, or even their current pensions, are incubated by the company that Romney launched and the financiers whom he hired.
Major universities have profited from Bain’s expertise. According to Infrastructure Investor, Bain Capital Ventures Fund I (launched in 2001) managed wealth for “endowments and foundations such as Columbia, Princeton, and Yale universities.” The Wall Street Journal’s James Freeman noted on July 18 that Harvard “has also invested with Bain.” Thus, Michelle and Barack Obama’s undergraduate campuses (Princeton and Columbia, respectively) and the university where they earned their law degrees (Harvard) all have enjoyed Bain Capital’s financial prowess.
According to BuyOuts magazine and S&P Capital IQ, Bain’s other college clients have included Cornell, Emory, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Notre Dame, and the University of Pittsburgh. Preqin reports that the following schools have placed at least $424.6 million with Bain Capital between 1998 and 2008:
Purdue University ($15.9 million) University of California ($225.7 million) University of Michigan ($130 million) University of Virginia ($20 million) University of Washington ($33 million)
Major center-left foundations and cultural establishments also have seen their prospects brighten thanks to Bain Capital. According to the aforementioned sources, such Bain clients have included the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Doris Duke Foundation, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Ford Foundation, the Heinz Endowments, and the Oprah Winfrey Foundation.
Why on earth would government-union leaders, university presidents, and foundation chiefs let a company with Bain Capital’s reputation oversee their precious assets?
“The scrutiny generated by a heated election year matters less than the performance the portfolio generates to the fund,” California State Teachers’ Retirement System spokesman Ricardo Duran recently told the Boston Globe. CalSTRS has pumped some $1.25 billion into Bain. Since 1988, Duran says, private-equity companies such as Bain have outperformed every other asset class to which CalSTRS has allocated the cash of its 856,360 largely unionized members focused on investment performance for all of our commitments, including Bain,” Jodi O’Neill, a spokeswoman for the Indiana Public Retirement System, told Reuters. “Election rhetoric has neither a positive nor negative impact on our assessment of a fund’s performance.”
“These government-union pension funds call the shots,” says my friend Brett A. Shisler, a Manhattan financier and former private-equity executive. “They want Bain to do one thing: make money. They do not evaluate Bain on how many jobs they create or environmentally friendly products they launch. No, they just care about money. If Team Obama is concerned about ‘greed,’ they should not blame private equity. They should blame the pension funds. What they demand is a far cry from conscious capitalism.”
So, what really is Bain’s reputation? Is it a gang of corporate buccaneers who plundered their ill-gotten gains by outsourcing, euthanizing feeble portfolio companies, and giving cancer to the spouses of those whom they fired? If so, union bosses, government retirees, liberal foundations, and elite universities — including the Obamas’ — thrive on the wages of Bain’s economic Darwinism.
If, however, these institutions relish the yields that Bain Capital generates by supporting start-ups and rescuing distressed companies, 80 percent of which have prospered, then this money is honest — and Team Obama isn’t.(NRO)
So don’t do as I do, do as I say. And I say Reality is what we say it is. Not what it really is. And if you disagree, well, you’re just a dumb, racist, greedy white guy who cares what you think!
“All of a sudden this man gets up and says, ‘How long will you blame the previous administration for all of your problems?’” former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright recounted. “I said, ‘Forever.’”
The story prompted laughter and applause from the crowd.
D’Souza: The movie is divided into two parts. One looks backward into Obama’s past and the other looks forward into what we can expect over the next four years. There’s roughly equal time in the movie to both themes. The movie is also based on two books – my earlier book, The Roots of Obama’s Rage (2010), and a new book I have coming out next month called Obama’s America. The earlier book looks back and the new book looks forward, and the movie combines both.
D’Souza: One of the themes in the movie is the anti-colonial goal of downsizing America in the name of global justice. So, the core idea here is that America has become a rogue nation in the world and also that America enjoys a standard of living that is unconscionably high compared to the rest of the world. So, anti-colonialism is a program of global reparations, not racial reparations. It’s reparations for global injustice. Obama’s goal is to shrink America. He wants to reduce America’s footprint in the world because he thinks we are stepping on the world. He wants to redistribute money away from the rich and toward the poor. But we are not talking about the rich and the poor in America solely. We are talking about a redistribution of income away from the rich countries – America included – toward the poor countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Columbia, and so on. This is where I think we misunderstand Obama when he talks about the 99 percent. We think he means the 99 percent only in America. He doesn’t. He actually means worldwide. It’s important to realize that the middle class or even poor Americans are rich by global standards.
Well, the film is intended to [offer] a debate about what’s the future of America. Nowhere in the film do we mention the election. We certainly don’t tell people how to vote. The film is about the American dream and Obama’s dream. In some ways it’s about my dream, which is the immigrants’ dream. Also, worked in there is Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream and the dream of the founders. In that sense it’s very different. In some ways I was inspired to do this by Michael Moore. I feel embarrassed to say that because Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11″ is an intellectual disaster, but nevertheless that film was about a controversial president and it was received at a time when one half of the country was for the president and one half was against him and it was dropped in the middle of an election. So that gave me the idea to make a film under similar conditions – controversial president, one half of the country is for him, one half is against him, and drop it in the middle of this year’s debate. But I wanted to make and have made a very different kind of a film that is not fast with the facts and is intellectually and factually very sound. So far, no one has alleged the contrary. (CP)
Thomas Sowell:Years, and sometimes decades, pass between my visits to movie theaters. But I drove 30 miles to see the movie “2016,” based on Dinesh D’Souza’s best-selling book, “The Roots of Obama’s Rage.” Where I live is so politically correct that such a movie would not even be mentioned, much less shown.
Every seat in the theater was filled, even though there had been an earlier showing that day, and more showings were scheduled for the rest of the afternoon and evening. I had to sit on a staircase in the balcony, but it was worth it.
The audience was riveted. You could barely hear a sound from them, or detect a movement, and certainly not smell popcorn. Yet the movie had no bombast, no violence, no sex and no spectacular visual effects.
The documentary itself was fascinating, as Dinesh D’Souza presented the story of Barack Obama’s life and view of the world, in a very conversational sort of way, illustrating it with visits to people and places around the world that played a role in the way Obama’s ideas and beliefs evolved.
It was refreshing to see how addressing adults as adults could be effective, in an age when so many parts of the media address the public as if they were children who need a constant whirlwind of sounds and movements to keep them interested.
Dinesh D’Souza’s own perspective, as someone born in India who came to America and became an American, provided a special insight into the way people from the Third World often perceive or misperceive the United States and the Western world.
That Third World perspective is Obama’s perspective, D’Souza demonstrates in this documentary, as in his book — and it is a perspective that is very foreign to that of most Americans, which may be why some believe that Obama was born elsewhere.
D’Souza is convinced that the president was born in Hawaii, as he claims, but argues that not only Obama’s time living in Indonesia and his emotionally charged visits to his father’s home in Africa, have had a deep and impassioned effect on his thinking.
The story of Barack Obama, however, is not just the story of how one man came to be the way he is. It is a much larger story about how millions of Americans came to vote for, and some to idolize, a man whose fundamental beliefs and values are so different from their own.
For every person who sees Obama as somehow foreign there are many others who see him as a mainstream American political figure — and an inspiring one.
This D’Souza attributes to Barack Obama’s great talents in rhetoric, and his ability to project an image that resonates with most Americans, however much that image may differ from, or even flatly contradict, the reality of Obama’s own ideological view of the world.
What is that ideological view?
The Third World, or anti-colonial, view is that the rich nations have gotten rich by taking wealth from the poor nations. It is part of a much larger vision, in which the rich in general have gotten rich by taking from the poor, whether in their own country or elsewhere.
Whatever its factual weaknesses, it is an emotionally powerful vision, to which many people have dedicated their lives, and for which some have even risked their lives. Some of these people appear in this documentary movie, as they have appeared throughout the formative phases of Barack Obama’s life.
The Reverend Jeremiah Wright is just the most visible and vocal of a long line of such people who played crucial roles in Obama’s evolution. When Jeremiah Wright thundered about how “white folks’ greed runs a world in need,” he captured the essence of the Third World or anti-colonial vision.
But many of the other mentors, allies, family and friends of Barack Obama over the years were of the same mindset, as this documentary demonstrates.
More important, the movie “2016″ demonstrates how so many of Obama’s actions as President of the United States, which D’Souza had predicted on the basis of his study of Obama’s background, are perfectly consistent with that ideology, however inconsistent it is with the rhetoric that gained him the highest office in the land.
The Democrats are spinning away that adding 80,000 Jobs last much is “going in the right direction”. And we’ve “created private sector job growth” every month, yada yada…Just at a snails pace. And the snails are winning.
And that’s Congress’s fault.
Not the over regulation and overtaxing and a Democrat Senate that hasn’t passed it’s own budget in 3 1/2 years and refusing to even debate anything the “obstructionist” Republicans pass.
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) projects 1,781,000 students at the bachelor’s degree level will graduate as the college Class of 2012.
Joblessness among new entrants to the workforce is 300,000 higher than three years ago.
And That’s on top of the Millions still out of work, some for years at a time.
Unemployment topped 8% for the 41st month in a row.
And even though the current unemployment rate of 8.2% is officially below the level three years ago, that’s because millions have given up looking for work and so aren’t counted as unemployed. If you adjust for that change, today’s unemployment rate would be 10.9%.
This is already the longest jobs recession since the Great Depression at 53 months. Payrolls aren’t on track to reach the old highs until June 2015, assuming the sluggish economic expansion lasts that long. (IBD)
So does it sound like a celebration to you?
Only if you a liberal. Only if you’re trying desperately to sell sand to man dying of thirst in a desert.
But that’s Bush’s Fault too.
To explain away the ongoing jobs debacle, <Chief Economic Advisor Alan> Krueger claims “there are no quick fixes to the problems we face that were more than a decade in the making.” Translation: Cut your griping and be thankful Obama has been able to do so well, given the terrible hand he was dealt.
It’s all Bush’s Fault!
According to American Enterprise Institute researcher (and former IBD staffer) James Pethokoukis, it will take 219,000 net new jobs each month to bring the unemployment rate below 8% by Nov. 6′s Election Day.
VP Joe Biden: Romney, he said, believes “somehow that those so-called job creators will make everything OK for the rest of us.”
And that’s a bad thing. After all, Romney to the left is a mustache twirling Monopoly board/cartoon Millionaire villain tying grandma to the railroad tracks as the steam train is bearing down her!
Government central planning and doling out of union jobs and more government sector union jobs is the way to go! Federal jobs (ex post office) are up 10.7%.
Establishments less than a year old, including those belonging to the same firm, totaled 556,553 in 2010, according to the latest Commerce Department data. That’s down 26% from the peak of 747,278 in 2006. Meanwhile, the number of employees at startups has plunged, with a greater share of new firms with no employees — one-man shops. Very small startups are less likely to invest or to grow, a bad sign for future hiring. (IBD)
New York Times: It is increasingly apparent what the economy will look like when President Obama faces voters in November: pretty much what it looks like today.
So that’s the “right direction” and everything is “fine”.
Then There’s:
More workers joined the federal government’s disability program in June than got new jobs, according to two new government reports, a clear indicator of how bleak the nation’s jobs picture is after three full years of economic recovery.
The economy created just 80,000 jobs in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. But that same month, 85,000 workers left the workforce entirely to enroll in the Social Security Disability Insurance program, according to the Social Security Administration.
The disability ranks have outpaced job growth throughout President Obama’s recovery. While the economy has created 2.6 million jobs since June 2009, fully 3.1 million workers signed up for disability benefits.
In other words, the number of new disability enrollees has climbed 19% faster than the number of jobs created during the sluggish recovery. (Even after accounting for people who left the disability program because they died or aged into retirement, disability ranks have climbed more than 1.1 million in the past three years.)
And the disability ranks will continue to swell. In just the last month, almost 275,000 put in applications for disability benefits. Experts say that more people try to get on disability when jobs are scarce, and changes to eligibility rules enacted back in 1984 have made it far easier to qualify.
In addition, while hiring has been very weak during the recovery, the number of people who have dropped out of the labor force entirely has exploded by 7.3 million since June 2009, an IBD analysis of BLS data show. Some aged into retirement, but most either signed up for disability, stayed in school, moved back in with parents, or just quit looking for a job.
As a result, the “labor force participation rate” — the number of people who have jobs or are actively looking for one compared with the entire working-age population — is now 63.8%, down from 65.7% in June 2009. This participation rate is at the lowest levels in 30 years. In previous recoveries, the participation rate has almost always risen, not fallen.
Other indicators show that the three-year-old economic recovery isn’t producing jobs in adequate numbers:
The unemployment rate has been above 8% for 41 consecutive months. In the previous 60 years, the jobless topped 8% in a total of only 39 months.
The number of people with jobs is still nearly 5 million below its pre-recession peak.
The number of long-term unemployed — those out of work 27 weeks or more — is still 5.4 million — almost 1 million higher than when the recovery began, and almost twice the level it ever reached prior to Obama’s recovery.
The median length of unemployment is 19.8 weeks. Throughout Obama’s recovery, it has averaged 20.6 weeks. Prior to Obama, that number had had never exceeded 10.5 weeks.
So, say it with me because you can here screaming in your LEFT ear, “But that’s Bush’s Fault!” , he left us a ‘mess’ ad nauseum.
The poor recovery has also driven people to sign up for food stamps in record numbers. From June 2009 to April 2012, food stamp enrollment surged 11.3 million, or 32%, according to the Department of Agriculture.
In addition, the soft jobs market has driven median household incomes down more after the recession ended than during the recession itself, according to Sentier Research, which tracks monthly household income.
After adjusting for inflation, median annual household income tumbled 5.3% from June 2009 to May 2012. In contrast, median incomes dropped 2.6% during the 18-month recession, Sentier found.
“The recession was bad enough,” said Sentier’s Gordon Green, “but what’s extraordinary is the even larger decline during this so-called economic recovery.”
It shows, Green said, “how much ground we have to make up just to get back to where we were.” (IBD)
But the Private sector is “doing fine”.
More people on the government dole, less people working a whole new crop of unemployed college grads…
Now that’s “moving in the right direction” Mr. President!
When asked yesterday whether she agreed or disagreed with one of the world’s top climate-change scientists that there had been no statistically significant global warming over the last fifteen years, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrator Jane Lubchenco would only say “that it is inappropriate to look at any particular short period of time to discern the long-term trend.” In fact, Lubchenco twice avoided directly answering a yes-no question as to whether she agreed with the observation that there has been no statistically significant global warming over the last decade and a half. (CNS)
But in 1975, it was Global Cooling. I guess it all depends on the liberal definition of “short term” which means they can change it on a dime (because it became Global Warming well before 15 years after Cooling) but you can’t point out to them that they are wrong anyways.
Reality is not a liberals strong suit.
Environmental concerns have caused one high-ranking UN official to declare that “the West” does not need more cars, televisions, and other consumer luxuries.
United Nations Development Programme head Helen Clark told AFP in an interview: “So the issue is how to get human development that will see it continue to rise for the world’s poorest people and people in developing countries. Because frankly human development in the West – we don’t need more cars, more TV, whatever. Our needs are by and large satisfied, although the recession has put a lot of strains on that.”
Clark, the former prime minister of New Zealand, also stressed the responsibility of richer countries to reduce their environmental footprint: “There is, in my opinion, a very heavy responsibility on the countries of the north to look at how they sustain their living standards with a much lower environmental footprint.”
Could that be with redistribution and environmental whacko regulations to strangle everyone??
And if you think the Liberal Media will be fair to anyone or anything they don’t like, well, get a load of this…
Barack Obama’s adoring cheerleaders at NBC are back in the editing room distorting the truth, and, not surprisingly, Andrea Mitchell has the gall to make no apologies for it.
First it was their vile attempt to make George Zimmerman sound like a racist to gin up racial conflict, and now they’ve set their sights on Mitt Romney who they’re desperately trying to paint as an out-of-touch, silver spoon Republican wowed by Wawa sandwiches.
This is a brazen attempt by NBC’s Andrea Mitchell to create a modern “supermarket scanner” moment for Mitt Romney where one clearly does not exist. This “gaffe” is a complete fabrication deliberately perpetrated by MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports. Her attempt to right this wrong by playing a few more seconds of video today is a slap in the face. Romney was making a valid point about the efficiency of private sector innovation. He was not amazed that he could order a sandwich with a touchscreen. His message is clear as day to anyone who watches the full video of his stump speech, and should sicken anyone who compares it to Mitchell’s sensational hatchet job.
And remember, she’s a “journalist”
Now comes the non-apology apology from a devout Liberal who doesn’t mean a word of it because she was proud of her hatchet job but has to keep up the pretense that she is a “journalist”.
She plays a few seconds after their cutesy cut BUT nothing before it! and then blows it off and just continues like it was nothing.
Because to a devout Liberal Obama hack it was nothing. It was beneath her to even do it. But the pretense has to be maintained.
Another “journalist”: “What the President’s got to do is say, ‘Hey, don’t forget about George W. Bush. Things got really, really bad under him.’” –NBC’s Meet The Press Host David Gregory.
Co-host Matt Lauer was skeptical: “I hear him saying that all the time….do you think that strategy works, the blame Bush strategy, or do people want you to take ownership of this economy at this stage?” Gregory was undeterred: “…they’ve got to prevail in providing context. Saying, ‘Look, it’s not about blaming the previous president, it’s that the hill was so high to climb. And we’re making some progress but the hole is still so deep.’”
I can tell you what’s deep…The Bovine Fecal Matter and the media bias that’s a blackhole at NBC.
2011, David Gregory: “How does the President try to harness this anger, this sense of unfairness about the economy, about income inequality in this country, about the middle class stagnating for the past 30 years? That’s what the President wants to try to tap into here.”
So the Middle class was stagnating under Bill Clinton and the Democrats. Good to know.
Thomas Sowell: Many people may have voted for Barack Obama in 2008 because of his charisma. But anyone familiar with the disastrous track record of charismatic political leaders around the world in the 20th century should have run for the hills when they encountered a politician with charisma.
What is scarier than any particular political policy or issue is the widespread tendency to treat political issues as personal contests in talking points — competitive skill in fencing with words — rather than as serious attempts to find out what the facts are and what the options are.
For a long time, Democrats have gone to Washington to win at all costs, while too many Republicans went to Washington to compromise with Democrats. The rise of the Tea Party may change that.
Increasing numbers of people seem to have convinced themselves that they are entitled to a “fair share” of what someone else has earned. Whole nations now seem to think that they should be bailed out from the consequences of their own reckless spending by nations that lived within their means.
Wishful thinking is not idealism. It is self-indulgence at best and self-exaltation at worst. In either case, it is usually at the expense of others. In other words, it is the opposite of idealism.
So the “journalism” “crusader” is dead.
Governor Mike Huckabee (2009): I’m sad to report today a death of a good friend to all of us…..Journalism, the once esteemed 4th estate of our nation and the protector of our freedoms and a watchdog of our rights has passed away after a long struggle with a crippling and debilitating disease of acute dishonesty aggravated by advanced laziness and the loss of brain function.
Amen.
Victor Davis Hanson: Obama simply cannot run on 40 months of 8 percent–plus unemployment, a June 2009 recovery that sputtered, $5 trillion in new debt, serial $1 trillion–plus annual deficits, and dismal GDP growth. Few believe any more that what he and the Democratic Congress passed in the first two years of his administration worked — and fewer still that the Republicans are to blame in the last 17 months for stopping him from pursuing even more disastrous policies. He cannot turn instead to the advantages of Obamacare, a dynamic foreign policy, national-security sobriety, a scandal-free administration, or stellar presidential appointments. The furor over security leaks makes it harder to keep conjuring up the ghost of Osama bin Laden.
What then to expect if the race remains tight or Obama finds himself behind?1. There will be lots more “the dog ate my homework” excuses for the dismal economy. The troubles in the EU, the Japanese tsunami, the East Coast earthquake, ATM machines, Wall Street, inclement weather, the Republican Congress, the Tea Party, and George W. Bush have pretty much been exhausted. But there is always hurricane season, a Greek exit from the euro, or a Middle East flare-up. Expect sometime before October to hear that a new “they” upset the brilliant recovery and is to blame for the chronic economic lethargy. One of the strangest aspects of Obama’s rationalizations is their utter incoherence and illogic: He brags that America pumped more oil and gas under his watch, even as he did his best to stop just that on public lands; he brags that he put in fewer regulations than did Bush, even as he boasts that he reined in business; he brags that he had to borrow $5 trillion to grow government in order to save the country, even as he claims he reduced the size of government. Why does Obama try to take credit for things on Tuesday that he damned on Monday? Is his new campaign theme: Despite (rather than because of) Obama?
2. Mitt Romney is a tough target. If Obama once loudly admitted to abuse of coke, Romney quietly confesses to avoidance even of Coca-Cola. His personal life is blameless. His family seems the subject of a Norman Rockwell painting. And Romney has more or less succeeded at most things he has attempted. No matter, he is Mormon. Expect legions of Obama surrogates to focus on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, especially its supposed endemic racism, sexism, and homophobia. Religious bigotry is not especially liberal, but the race/class/gender agenda trumps all such qualms, and in any case Obama and his team have never claimed to be especially tolerant or fair-minded in using any means necessary to achieve noble ends. Whereas the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and Trinity Church were off the table in 2008, Mormonism will be very much on it by late summer.
3. We will read and hear about race 24/7. Racism is not an easy sell today, given that without tens of millions of white voters, Barack Obama would not have been elected. Nor is it easy to condemn America as racist when the white vote in 2008 was split far more evenly than were the 96 percent of African-American voters who preferred Barack Obama. Nonetheless, racial relations are at an all-time low. Almost weekly a member of the Congressional Black Caucus levels yet another bizarre charge of racism, and a Hollywood actor or singer blurts out something that would be deemed racially offensive were he not African-American; the polarization over the Trayvon Martin case threatens to overshadow the polarization over the O. J. Simpson trial; flash mobbing in the inner cities is as much daily fare on the uncensored Internet as it is absent from the network news; and both Barack Obama (the Skip Gates affair, the Trayvon Martin quip, the “punish our enemies” call, etc.) and Eric Holder (“cowards,” congressional oversight is racially motivated, “my people,” etc.) have made it a point to make race essential, not incidental, to their governance. If in 2008 liberals celebrated the election of Barack Obama as proof of a new postracial harmony, in 2012 a tight race will be cited as greater proof of a new ascendant racism. The idea that to elect Obama wins the nation racial exemption, and to defeat him earns condemnation, is illogical. No matter: By late fall, expect a desperate Obama administration to be dredging up the charge overtly, nonstop, and in person.
4. We should look for new furor against the “system” in direct proportion to the praise heaped on it in 2008 for being redeemed. The polls, if unfavorable, will be described as innately biased. The uncivil Rush Limbaugh, talk radio generally, Fox News, and tea-party bloggers, we will be lectured, are subversive, peddle hate, foment violence, and should be silenced. Whereas David Brooks, David Frum, Peggy Noonan, and Christopher Buckley were recommended reading in 2008, given their balanced and fair-minded critiques of George W. Bush and their appreciation of Barack Obama, in 2012 we will learn that they are right-wing attack dogs for losing their enthusiasm for the first-class mind and temperament of Barack Obama. Whereas a Pat Buchanan on MSNBC railing against Bush’s war and McCain’s neocon advisers was a reminder of how the libertarian Right has positive affinities with the liberal Left, in 2012 such a paleocon “racist” must be kept off the airwaves. Voter-registration laws and voter-ID requirements, remember, are designed to exclude the oppressed and must be relaxed. Advertising has warped American politics. Super PACs are Romney conspiracies. If big Wall Street money went for Obama in 2008 and thereby won investment banking and the stock market exemption from charges of greed and corruption, in 2012 investors may swing to Romney and thereby incite calls to rein in “big money” and furious op-eds about the toxic mix of politics and cash. If Romney outraises Obama, we will hear again the calls for public campaign financing, which were ignored when a cash-flush Obama renounced public financing in 2008. In 2008, academics, foundation people, the Hollywood crowd, journalists, and liberal politicians confessed that they had fallen in love again with an America that had proved it was not hopeless after all; in 2012, America may prove unsalvageable, with thousands vowing to move to Canada.
5. Suddenly around October the world will become absolutely unsafe. In these dangerous times, Americans must forget their differences, come together, and embrace a bipartisan unity — given that it may be necessary, after all, to hit the Iranian nuclear facilities, since we’ll have learned that the bomb may be a reality by, say, mid-November. Just as we have been reminded that Barack Obama has saved us by his brave decisions to use double agents in Yemen, computer viruses in Iran, Seal Team Six in Pakistan, and philosophically guided Predator assassination hits, so too a strike against Iran may suddenly be of vital national-security interest, though keenly lamented by a Nobel laureate nose-deep in Thomas Aquinas. Cancellation of the Keystone Pipeline delighted greens; the war on the war on women pleased feminists; gays are now on board after Barack Obama decided he really did favor gay marriage; Latinos got nearly a million illegal aliens exempted from immigration law. And yet all those partisan gifts have not yet resulted in a 50 percent approval rating or a lead over Mitt Romney. Something more dramatic is needed, given that there are only so many Obama heroics that can be cobbled together and leaked from classified sources.
We do not know who is going to win the 2012 election, only that it will be closer than the 2008 one — and if Obama keeps it up at his present rate he may destroy the Democratic party for a generation. There is no longer an incumbent George Bush to blame. Romney is a feistier candidate than was John McCain. Fundraising is no longer lopsided. The novelty of the first African-American president has become passé. And “hope and change” has been replaced by a concrete record of three and a half years. Given those realities, if his being an unknown quantity was a reason to vote for Barack Obama in 2008, his being all too familiar will be cause for rejecting him in 2012.
Unless the “journalist” persuade you that what they are selling is reality. It just doesn’t happen to be ACTUAL reality. And their “facts” are more laced with arsenic for those who disagree with their almighty selves than punch from Charles Manson.
The Ministry of Truth is on 24/7/365 full frontal assault mode. And they are proud of themselves.
White House senior adviser David Plouffe said on Sunday Republicans want “huge tax cuts for the wealthy, more war, more debt.”
“They want to return us back to the same policies that caused the recession — huge tax cuts for the wealthy, more war, more debt. And independent economists last week just said the Romney congressional agenda would cause us harm in the short term economically and slow down the recovery. So that’s the wrong direction,” he said on ABC’s “This Week.”
And it’s own mid-june. Imagine what the hype ,the lies, distortions, and rhetoric is going to be in 4 months!
Video from 1994 has surfaced of David Axelrod, President Obama’s chief campaign strategist, calling former President George H.W. Bush “out of touch” for “tastelessly” playing golf while trying to convince voters that the economy is improving.
“Bush tastelessly did it, often from the ninth hole, and from the cigar boat and other places,” Axelrod said.
Added the adviser: “The impression you got was that he was out of touch.”
President Obama rolled out of his Kenwood, Chicago home Sunday morning and headed to out to play his 100th round of golf since becoming president.
Obama has already played golf eight times this year. He actually is a little off his normal pace – perhaps campaigning is intruding on golf. The president golfed 28 times in 2009, 30 times in 2010, and an incredible 34 times in 2011.
But he’s the “First Black President” so I must be a racist for pointing out that Bush never played this many rounds and actually quit playing because of the criticism.
After all, he wants what he wants when he wants it.
This was 1987 folks. Gee, I guess only Liberals want to yell at Presidents but you’re never supposed to do it to them.
Gee, that trend of Don’t Do as I do, Do as I say and I can do it but you can’t isn’t the accepted norm with Liberals.
Well, time to stop drinking that Big Gulp and “Let’s Move” and do a “little weed” just like the President did when he was younger and now all the 60′s hippies want to you to do it now too.
Cigarettes Vs. Marijuana
The Partnership Attitude Tracking Study, sponsored by MetLife Foundation, found that 9 percent of teens (nearly 1.5 million) smoked marijuana heavily (at least 20 times) in the past month. Overall, past-month heavy marijuana use is up 80 percent among U.S. teens since 2008.
Past-month use is up 42 percent (up from 19 percent in 2008 to 27 percent in 2011, which translates to about 4 million teens).
Past-year use is up 26 percent (up from 31 percent in 2008 to 39 percent in 2011, which translates to about 6 million teens).
Lifetime use is up 21 percent (up from 39 percent in 2008 to 47 percent in 2011, which translates to nearly 8 million teens). (MarketWatch)
And many can drive! Doesn’t that just make you feel better about Big Gulps!
Smoking rates have declined with 22 percent of teens reporting smoking cigarettes in the past month — down 19 percent from 27 percent last year.
Could that be because the dangers of smoking have been hammered for 2 decades?
So education on the dangers of smoking have worked. And so has the education on the harmlessness of pot has too. And that’s the fault of the War on Drugs.
Ah, doublethink…
Although the U.S. arrests 750,000 people every year for nothing more than possessing a small amount of marijuana, teens consistently report that marijuana is easier to obtain than alcohol. (Huffington Post)
So stop smoking cigarettes because they are bad for you, toke some weed instead!
Like for for sure, dude!
Stoners Rights!
And gee, what is one of the major things smuggled by the drug runner across the US’s “more secure than ever” Southern Border…marijuana.
So in order to solve the problem we don’t less people using it, we just need more government control of it! Sigh…
UNION GRAFT
In speech after speech, President Obama credits himself for saving the Detroit auto industry. Turns out that what Obama really did was spend $23 billion in taxpayer money to pay off his union friends.
Even if you think the bailout was needed, the ultimate taxpayer cost was far higher than it should have been, according to a new report by Zywicki and James Sherk, published by the Heritage Foundation.
Worse, the entire $23 billion price tag — an estimate from Obama’s own Treasury Dept. — went to subsidize the Democrat-friendly UAW, the authors found.
Among the union giveaways:
• $21 billion more for the UAW retiree benefit trust fund than it would have received had it been treated like other unsecured creditors.
• Another $1 billion to restore pensions for UAW retirees at GM’s defunct Delphi subsidiary.
• And the UAW didn’t have to make wage concessions that a normal bankruptcy proceeding would have required. Cost to taxpayers: $4 billion.
“Had the administration required the UAW to accept standard bankruptcy concessions,” they concluded, “the government could have executed the bailout at no net cost to taxpayers.”
Obama’s former car czar, Ron Bloom, wasn’t kidding when he said of the bailout: “I did this all for the unions.” (IBD)
ILLEGALS
In his most brazen act of pandering to date, President Obama has dangled de facto amnesty to 800,000 illegal immigrants in a shameless bid to win Latino votes. This is pure banana-republic electoral politics.
After all, with no Voter ID required (because Holder and Company will shut you done if you do) but you have amnesty and a “work permit” why not vote for Obama and the Democrats.
There’s zero doubt Obama’s Friday order to hand work permits to hundreds of thousands of illegals who claim they were brought here as children is merely an embattled and unpopular president’s bid to gain an electoral edge.
Politics trump all other factors that a responsible president would consider, such as the wisdom of dumping nearly a million new job seekers onto the market to compete for jobs with America’s 26 million unemployed at a time of sky-high unemployment.
First, Democratic strategists have stated repeatedly that Obama, whose popularity is below 50% in polls, must win the Latino vote at all costs, particularly in swing states. Obama’s move panders to them.
Second, it closely follows the Dream Act prescription, favored by the open-borders lobby, the one group he must please to secure the votes. The Act stalled in Congress for lack of votes amid high public opposition.
It also comes as a flip-flop. Obama has told his supporters in the past that he couldn’t take such a brazen step, knowing that its legality and clear usurpation of congressional authority would be questioned.
And it was — by GOP Senators Charles Grassley of Iowa and Marco Rubio of Florida. Apparently, now that Obama’s re-election is on the line, anything goes.
But it’s the time frame that really gives the game away: The relief from deportation orders will be meted out in two-year increments, timed precisely with each election cycle. That way, Democrats can tell the Latino lobby to either mobilize the vote for them — or the amnesty goodies end.
This is no different from banana-republic politicos buying votes for bags of beans. Obama’s gambit is in fact straight from Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, who, facing a tight recall referendum in 2004, handed citizenship to 2 million illegal immigrants in Venezuela to secure votes, and with Jimmy Carter’s help, won.
It’s also been done in that other banana-republic, California, where in 2003, Democratic Gov. Gray Davis offered drivers licenses to millions of illegals to secure Latino votes for his own recall referendum. It maddened California’s voters and Davis was booted.
Obama is betting that America’s voters will behave more like Venezuelans than Californians, but the tragic thing is that he’s harming the interests of the country.
Illegals with criminal pasts that can be punished with less than a year in the slammer will be fully eligible.
What’s more, our system of law will be corrupted, as officials assure the work permits are handed out on a “case-by-case basis,” an ideal setup for bribes and kickbacks. Rubio warns the move will encourage more illegal immigration — and discourage legal migrants.
The losers here are the American people, who have a leader who seems more interested in short-term political gain than actual governance — and who seems oblivious to the disruption this new amnesty policy will cause as the rule of law is undermined.
Sign found in the toilet, Press here for your money… LOL!
Straining to find a way to excuse President Obama’s Friday remark that “the private sector is doing fine,” on Monday’s NBC Today, co-host Ann Curry did her best to spin for the White House: “He is right in saying that the private sector is doing better than the public sector, is he not? And so that was his point, that this comment was taken out of context.”
And she is a “journalist”.
CBS President Les Moonves: “ultimately journalism has changed … partisanship is very much a part of journalism now.” (LA TIMES)
MSNBC Host Hayes on the same panel as Curry: “I also think the word ‘fine’ in that context is like if you fell and gashed your head and you were bleeding and your friend said, ‘Are you okay?’ And you said, ‘I’m fine.’ It means you don’t have to rush me to the emergency room.”
In other words, the economic problems facing the nation are merely a gushing head wound for America. (MRC)
Well, I know I feel better. And We can count on ObamaCare to take care of the gushing head wound right?

Given them an inch and they’ll want MORE!!
MYFOXNY.COM -The board hand-picked by Mayor Michael Bloomberg that must approve his ban of selling large sugar-filled drinks at restaurants might be looking at other targets. The New York City Board of Health showed support for limiting sizes of sugary drinks at a Tuesday meeting in Queens. They agreed to start the process to formalize the large-drink ban by agreeing to start a six-week public comment period.
At the meeting, some of the members of board said they should be considering other limits on high-calorie foods.
One member, Bruce Vladeck, thinks limiting the sizes for movie theater popcorn should be considered.
“The popcorn isn’t a whole lot better than the soda,” Vladeck said.
Another board member thinks milk drinks should fall under the size limits.
“There are certainly milkshakes and milk-coffee beverages that have monstrous amounts of calories,” said board member Dr. Joel Forman.
Mayor Bloomberg says the drink rules are an attempt to fight obesity in the city. It would limit food service establishments in the city from serving drinks bigger than 16 ounces but would allow refills.
The New York City Restaurant Association is fighting the proposal and is considering legal action of it goes into effect.
New York City voters oppose 51 – 46 percent Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s proposed ban on the sale of over-sized sugary soft drinks, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.
Mind you, Popcorn by itself is actually GOOD for you, it’s the butter that isn’t. But don’t tell that to a do-gooder-now-that-the-nose-of-the-800-pound-mafia-gorilla-is-in-the-tent-lets-ban-or control-everything Liberal.
MSNBC’s Donny Deutsch: “We complain politicians don’t take stands, aren’t courageous. God bless this guy. To Nancy’s point, this is no different than tobacco. We solve obesity, we solve the health care problem. We’ve got to do something. So of course, every time you make a revolutionary move, there’s going to be some complaints, ‘Are they overstepping the boundaries?’ I applaud him.”

In the DVD release for HBO’s Game of Thrones, episode 10, show-runners Dave Benioff and D.B. Weiss admit to using the severed head of former president George W. Bush in the scene below. The show-runners statement follows.
“The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush’s head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had lying around.” – Dave Benioff & D.B. Weiss
Gee, I wonder if that would work with Obama? But I guess this is what happens after the Liberals assassinated him the last time (The 2006 Movie “Death of a President”) and that didn’t work.
********
41 percent of liberals don’t like Mormons, up 20 percent form 2007.American National Election Studies (ANES).
The Party of “tolerance” and “fairness” and blamers of “hate”. Got love it.
*****
How can you tell a Liberal is a Hypocrite/Self-Serving/Lying?
Are they still breathing!?
But anything non-Liberal is evil, racist, misogynistic and bad for you.
Another great example of the Left’s Orwellian love affair with doublespeak occurred yesterday on America Live on Fox.
The Topic same sex/gay marriage. Our little cherub of Orwell said that 80% of Americas were for “marriage” so he didn’t see the problem.
When pressed he said same sex/gay/straight, it’s all marriage so he didn’t see any distinction and neither should you.
Much like “migrant” for illegal aliens the language is dishonest and manipulative.
Did you know that the “improving” jobs figures the Media touts are dishonest at best?
Simple, really, you announce the figures have gone down on Thursday when they come out. Then before the next Thursday when the figures are revised UPWARDS you just don’t mention that and when they go down again on the next Thursday you have “growth” and “improvement”.
The fact that it has been revised UPWARDS the last 47 weeks (59/60 weeks total) straight is totally unimportant to you if you’re liberal or Obama.
And the love fest on the Mainstream Media can continue.
Sen. Patrick Leahy: I trust that he will be Chief Justice for all of us and that he has a strong institutional sense of the proper role of the judicial branch. It is the Supreme Court of the United States, not the Supreme Court of the Democratic Party or the Republican Party, not the Supreme Court of liberals or conservatives. It’s the Supreme Court of the United States and the Chief Justice is the Chief Justice of the United States, all 320 million of us.
Leahy suggesting that a justice voting based on their personal beliefs, against Obamacare, would be committing conservative judicial activism (aka voting against ObamaCare is “activism”).
“The conservative activism of recent years has not been good for the Court.”-Sen Leahy.
Mind you this is the same guy who after the Citizens United case decision didn’t go the Unions way:
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), speaking on the Senate floor Thursday, ripped the Supreme Court’s decision to allow corporations to buy political ads attacking candidates, calling it the “most partisan decision since Bush v. Gore.”(politico).
And we all know THAT was partisan decision and the Liberals obsess about to this day. It’s an open would that the Democrats are constantly pouring salt in.
The constitutional challenge to the Affordable Care Act is the current instance in which narrow ideology and partisanship are pressuring the Supreme Court to intervene where it should not, to override the law and constitutional legal understandings that have been settled since the Great Depression, and to overturn the actions of the people’s elected representatives in the Congress. I was struck by how little respect some of the Justices showed to Congress, and of how dismissive they were of the months of work in hearings and Committee actions and debate of amendments and motions and points of order on the Senate and House floors before the measure was enacted. (Leahy’s own website)
You mean the partisan “summits”, the legal maneuvering,The bribes and horse trading, the distortions, the “pass the bill to find out what’s in it”, the exclusion of opposition and the most partisan vote in US History???
Oh that’s right, when Liberals do it it’s “fair”.
They are supposed to begin their inquiry by respecting the will of the people…
You mean the 60% that has been against Obamacare since it was born?
No, he doesn’t.
According a recent poll, half of all Americans expect the justices to decide the challenge to the Affordable Care Act mainly based on their “partisan political views,” while only 40 percent expect them to decide the case “on the basis of the law.” (also from his website)
This, of course comes from the Washington Post, a very “fair” and “unbiased” member of the “journalist” community.
The actual Poll: Notice the difference in the Democrats (political) – of which their are two categories and the Republicans (law)- 1 category and then you average them together and you skew the poll in your favor and proclaim it as if you weren’t manipulating people dishonestly.
That is until Obama gets the chance to appoint more leftists to the court and tip the balance in their favor, then it will be “fair” when they can just run over the conservatives like a steam roller…
But that wouldn’t be activism though…

Ann Coulter:It’s been breaking news all over MSNBC, liberal blogs, newspapers and even The Wall Street Journal: “Federal spending under Obama at historic lows … It’s clear that Obama has been the most fiscally moderate president we’ve had in 60 years.”
To be Precise- “I’m running to pay down our debt in a way that’s balanced and responsible. After inheriting a $1 trillion deficit, I signed $2 trillion of spending cuts into law,” he told a crowd of donors at the Hyatt Regency. “My opponent won’t admit it, but it’s starting to appear in places, like real liberal outlets, like the Wall Street Journal: Since I’ve been president, federal spending has risen at the lowest pace in nearly 60 years. Think about that.”–Obama in Denver (gatewaypundit)
Obama: I’ve “Cleaned Up” GOP’s “Wild Debts”–My Spending Is Lowest In 60 Years.
There’s even a chart! (See Below) I’ll pause here to give you a moment to mop up the coffee on your keyboard. Good? OK, moving on … This shocker led to around-the-clock smirk fests on MSNBC.
As with all bogus social science from the left, liberals hide the numbers and proclaim: It’s “science”! This is black and white, inarguable, and why do Republicans refuse to believe facts?
Ed Schultz claimed the chart exposed “the big myth” about Obama’s spending: “This chart — the truth — very clearly shows the truth undoubtedly.” And the truth was, the “growth in spending under President Obama is the slowest out of the last five presidents.”
Note that Schultz also said that the “part of the chart representing President Obama’s term includes a stimulus package, too.”
As we shall see, that is a big, fat lie. Schultz’s guest, Reuters columnist David Cay Johnston confirmed: “And clearly, Obama has been incredibly tight-fisted as a president.”
Everybody’s keyboard OK?
On her show, Rachel Maddow proclaimed: “Factually speaking, spending has leveled off under President Obama. Spending is not skyrocketing under President Obama. Spending is flattening out under President Obama.”
In response, three writers from “The Daily Show” said, “We’ll never top that line,” and quit.
Inasmuch as this is obviously preposterous, I checked with John Lott, one of the nation’s premier economists and author of the magnificent new book with Grover Norquist: “Debacle: Obama’s War on Jobs and Growth and What We Can Do Now to Regain Our Future.”
It turns out Rex Nutting, author of the phony Marketwatch chart, attributes all spending during Obama’s entire first year, up to Oct. 1, to President Bush. That’s not a joke.
That means, for example, the $825 billion stimulus bill, proposed, lobbied for, signed and spent by Obama, goes in … Bush’s column. (And if we attribute all of Bush’s spending for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and No Child Left Behind to William Howard Taft, Bush didn’t spend much either.)
Nutting’s “analysis” is so dishonest, even The New York Times has ignored it. He includes only the $140 billion of stimulus money spent after Oct. 1, 2009, as Obama’s spending.
And he’s testy about that, grudgingly admitting that Obama “is responsible (along with the Congress) for about $140 billion in extra spending in the 2009 fiscal year from the stimulus bill.” Nutting acts as if it’s the height of magnanimity to “attribute that $140 billion in stimulus to Obama and not to Bush …” On what possible theory would that be Bush’s spending?
Hey — we just found out that ObamaCare’s going to cost triple the estimate. Let’s blame it on Calvin Coolidge!
Nutting’s “and not to Bush” line is just sleight of hand. He’s hoping you won’t notice that he said “$140 billion” and not “$825 billion,” and will be fooled into thinking that he’s counting the entire stimulus bill as Obama’s spending. (He fooled Ed Schultz!)
The theory is that a new president is stuck with the budget of his predecessor, so the entire 2009 fiscal year should be attributed to Bush.
But Obama didn’t come in and live with the budget Bush had approved. He immediately signed off on enormous spending programs that had been specifically rejected by Bush.
This included a $410 billion spending bill that Bush had refused to sign before he left office. Obama signed it on March 10, 2009.
Bush had been chopping brush in Texas for two months at that point. Marketwatch’s Nutting says that’s Bush’s spending.
Obama also spent the second half of the Troubled Asset Relief Fund (TARP). These were discretionary funds meant to prevent a market meltdown after Lehman Bros. collapsed.
By the end of 2008, it was clear the panic had passed, and Bush announced that he wouldn’t need to spend the second half of the TARP money.
But on Jan. 12, 2009, Obama asked Bush to release the remaining TARP funds for Obama to spend as soon as he took office. By Oct. 1, Obama had spent another $200 billion in TARP money.
That, too, gets credited to Bush, according to the creative accounting of Rex Nutting.
There are other spending bills that Obama signed in the first quarter of his presidency, bills that would be considered massive under any other president — such as the $40 billion child health care bill, which extended coverage to immigrants as well as millions of additional Americans. This, too, is called Bush’s spending.
Frustrated that he can’t shift all of Obama’s spending to Bush, Nutting also lowballs the spending estimates during the later Obama years. For example, although he claims to be using the White House’s numbers, the White House’s estimate for 2012 spending is $3.795 trillion. Nutting helpfully knocks that down to $3.63 trillion.
But all those errors pale in comparison to Nutting’s counting Obama’s nine-month spending binge as Bush’s spending.
If liberals will attribute Obama’s trillion-dollar stimulus bill to Bush, what won’t they do?
American Enterprise Institute: Until Barack Obama took office in 2009, the United States had never spent more than 23.5% of GDP, with the exception of the World War II years of 1942-1946. Here’s the Obama spending record:
– 25.2% of GDP in 2009
– 24.1% of GDP in 2010
– 24.1% of GDP in 2011
– 24.3% (estimates by the White House ) in 2012
What’s more, if Obama wins another term, spending—according to his own budget—would never drop below 22.3% of GDP. If that forecast is right, spending during Obama’s eight years in office would average 23.6% of GDP. That’s higher than any single previous non-war year.
So what you do is raise the baseline AFTER you’ve spend the money, blame it on your predecessor, then proclaim how little you’ve spent since then with a straight face.
Now that’s “honest” and “transparent” isn’t it.
So the fact that the Debt was 10 trillion in 2009 when you took over and now it’s approaching rapidly 16 trillion isn’t his fault because he’s been more fiscally responsible than the Republicans have!
Mr Nutting: Of all the falsehoods told about President Barack Obama, the biggest whopper is the one about his reckless spending spree.
And here’s the chart summarizing Nutting’s argument:
As the chart indicates, Nutting arrives at that 1.4% number by assigning 2009—when spending surged nearly 20%—to George W. Bush: “The 2009 fiscal year, which Republicans count as part of Obama’s legacy, began four months before Obama moved into the White House. The major spending decisions in the 2009 fiscal year were made by George W. Bush and the previous Congress. Like a relief pitcher who comes into the game with the bases loaded, Obama came in with a budget in place that called for spending to increase by hundreds of billions of dollars in response to the worst economic and financial calamity in generations.”
Let me complete the metaphor for Nutting: “Then as those runners scored, Obama kept putting more on base.”
Obama chose not to reverse that elevated level of spending; thus he, along with congressional Democrats, are responsible for it. Only by establishing 2009 as the new baseline, something Republican budget hawks like Paul Ryan feared would happen, does Obama come off looking like a tightwad. Obama has turned a one-off surge in spending due to the Great Recession into his permanent New Normal through 2016 and beyond. (AEI)
<<Barf bag overload>>
So we end today’s listen in Liberal dishonesty with a bit of comedy:
Chris Matthews (MSNBC) on CSPAN:
“Is the thrill still there?” asked Scully.
Matthews wasn’t thrilled with the question.
“I hope that you feel satisfied that you’ve used the most obvious question that is raised by every horse’s ass right-winger I ever bump into,” Matthews responded, after defending the comment.
“Perhaps I shouldn’t have said so because I’ve given a lot of jackasses the chance to talk about it,” Matthews continued.
“And usually they say ‘tingle’ which says something about their orientation, but that’s alright,” he added. Later he interjected, “Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course. I have to throw that in.”
Yeah he wouldn’t want to be “homophobic” or “bigoted” now would he!
